Spaceverse art!

Okay so I haven't decided exactly how I'm organizing these yet, but here's my first batch of the Spaceverse art posts! I've got a backlog of at least 205+ artworks to archive for this, so I had to get started somewhere. This is the original RP (and basis for my novel in progress) that I write with my friend Sakume, dating back some years now (maybe since 2019?) I don't have a title for the novel yet, so this is simply known as Spaceverse for now.

These characters originally came from some old forums we wrote on (circa 2006 at the start), and one day I came up with a new AU for them in a completely new space fantasy setting, with a new plot and new origins for the characters. I asked my friends Sakume and Cookie to participate, and this story was born. Cookie no longer actively writes in this RP with us, but some of their characters still show up in the art here and I'm very grateful for their contributions.

Sakume and I still write together and are adding new characters all the time! :) I grouped this batch of art to include sketches that mainly featured characters hailing from the planet of Illumina or the moon sanctuary of Nova Lux.

In order here we have: sketches of Cadenza, Altair/Vivace (her sister in the novel version, unrelated in the RP but may retcon, also Fabi/Alex's late mom and Anton's late wife), then Cadenza's daughter Luisa and a sketch of Cadenza in prison back on the Vault where it all started. Then we have Luisa and (spoiler!) young/child form Dawa, Cadenza with Adam, Adam himself, and then a bunch of sketches of their family together. Following that, we have Queen Venus (aka Elena), Cadenza's mom Sonya, Sonya with Leona, Xiulan, sketches of Cadenza and a masked Xiulan, Mingzhu, Joan (not an Illumin character but hey she ended up on my sketch page back then), older/adult form Dawa, young Dawa, Mingzhu, Cadenza's dad Galliard, Louis (another non-Illumin here to fit page space), Cadenza's sister Luminari, Cadenza herself, Lu with her husband Jaster, Simha (revamped character to replace Leona) and then Cascadia Riveria (Faer character, but happened to be on that sketchbook page.) Then lastly a few pencil sketches I missed, Xiulan, Mercy with Ramiro, Luminari and Cadenza, and some of my initial concept sketches of Spaceverse Cadenza and Luisa.

At the very end, we have some much older sketches that predate this RP, with Mother Carla, Ancient Ren of the Order, and Cadenza's late husband Paris (along with a sketch of Cadenza from a previous story where she was a human mage with shadow magic), previous versions of Vivace, Algretta, Luminari, Arietta, Cadenza, Sonya, Galliard, Reymundo, Izumi, Xiulan, Sarai (an angelo who hasn't appeared in the RP yet, but I might adapt), Shui Ya of Nova Lux, and Fletcher (a Faer character, but he happened to be on this page.) I still need to draw many of these characters some new portraits as their phantasm selves in this storyverse/setting, but I'm saving these older drawings for reference.

Some characters are going to show up that don't quite fit into these groupings because I tend to just draw whoever I feel like on my paper that fits before scanning them in. x3 Sometimes I edit them after to reorganize, but often times not.

Adam and Jaster belong to Sakume, and Leona and Joan belong to Cookie. The rest of the characters belong to me, but big credit to both of my friends for their help developing the world, organizations and characters, particularly in this case, Cookie brainstorming the Order of Lux Aeterna/Nova Lux with me, and Sakume brainstorming so many of the Vault characters and more.

Also small side note: I've been using the surname "Madrigal" since 2006 for Cadenza and her family waaay back on Zelda Universe forums, but I'm super happy it's way more popular a name now thanks to Encanto and I do love that movie. The movie was in no way a basis for these names, but I love to see more Latin culture and names in media, so I'm all for it. ^_^

Last Name HCs (plus some ethnicities)

-Lego dear god JUST GIVE THEM LAST NAMES. gosh it was so awkward when they were just addressing Olivia as 'Heartlake City's very own Olivia!' in s2ep2.

-I'll do the OG girls first, then the new gen. I know different HCs exist out there, so these are the ones I use personally.

Mia Cavalla

-The og post found Mia's name to have an Italian origin, but I wanted a slightly different name for my own AUs. hence, Cavalla, which (should) mean mare in Spanish (this is the doubt of a person using google) Mia is likely Italian-American, as the post theorises.

Stephanie Azure

-The colour of Stephanie's minifig eyes in the reboot are azure, hence what I put for her last name. I just found it cool and little me spent too long staring into the eyes of a plastic doll TvT

Olivia Guerrera-Cielo

-as Olivia's parents are divorced, likely her name is double-barreled. Guerrera means warrior and is pretty much taken from the post, but Cielo means 'darling' and even though it doesn't have ties to her intelligence like the previous post's HCs did, I thought it was sweet. Olivia is likely Mexican American.

Emma Ari

-Ari is apparently a common surname in the US, it's pretty, it fits Emma, and that's it.

Andrea Chanson

-so this one isn't actually tied to her ethnicity. 'chang' is how the chinese character for 'sing' is pronounced, so as someone who is Chinese this was more a small private tidbit to me. I took away the 'g' and added 'son', a common thing found at the end of American surnames.

Autumn Cavalla-Caputo

-as we never see Autumn's other parent, I decided to go with divorce being why. hence the double-barreled surname. Caputo is the surname that Mia had in the original post, and it means someone who is very determined and unwavering. younger me from years ago didn't like how it sounded and that's why Mia ended up with Cavalla in my drafts, but older me likes it more now and hence Autumn gets it.

Aliya Abara

-Abara is a fairly common surname, and while there are many meanings from different countries the Abara surname originating from West Africa means 'spirit'.

Leo Ramirez

-I was very, VERY tempted to go with Valdez. but alas, if I did so, my drafts would be impossible to filter as a fanfic writer still using only one master document for EVERYTHING. But him having Valdez would be SO FUN HAHA

Olly Evans

-may Potter fans strike me down. Evans is a common British surname, and Olly is canonically British.

Paisley Bauer

-Paisley is canonically German. Bauer is a German surname meaning 'peasant/neighbour'. I thought the neighbour part would tie in alright with Paisley and Olly growing up together. I also just like how her name sounds.

Nova Mercury

-Originally I went with Campbell, but decided against it because Nova deserves to have a PLANET. hence Mercury.

Zac Moreau

-Moreau is a French surname meaning 'dark skinned' or 'black'. It's an actual surname. (And Zac is French.)

Liann Qiang/Qiáng Huā Liàng/强花亮

-As someone who is Singaporean Chinese (what I also HC Liann as) I have two names, one English, one Chinese. Liann Qiang/Qiang Liann is her English name, and Qiáng Huā Liàng/强花亮 is her Chinese name. 强 [qiang] means strong, and is her family name, 花 [hua] is means flower, and is part of her name, 亮 [liang] means bright, and is the last part of her name. So overall translates to 'strong bright flower' and yes in that order. Chinese is weird like that. (Huā doesn't really go at the end of names, any name using the Huā word pretty much guarantees the Huā will be at the front. So even though Huā Liàng directly translates to 'flower bright' the real meaning is rearranged into 'bright flower'.)

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe counterparts/matchups

Superman = Raiden - The ultimate defenders of their worlds. Superman is like a god while Raiden is literally one...well, before New MK1 came along.

Batman = Liu Kang - The greatest human defenders of their respective teams...at least before Liu Kang became the Fire God. Both are expert martial artists and have an animal motif going on (Liu Kang has a dragon theme while Batman's is self-explanatory).

Wonder Woman = Kitana - Warrior princesses from other worlds. Depending on which version you're going with, they also have close relationships with Batman and Liu Kang.

Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) = Kuai Liang (Scorpion/Sub-Zero) - Members of councils who often share their mantles with other figures in the canon (Hal is part of the Green Lantern Corps while Kuai Liang is a member of the Lin Kuei clan, and later the Shirai Ryu clan in New MK1). Green Lantern's ring and Sub-Zero's ice often function similarly with both of them being able to create practically anything with them.

The Flash = Kabal - Super speedsters who often can be snarky.

Aquaman = Rain - Royal figures who are hydrokinetic and can manipulate the weather.

Deathstroke = Hanzo Hasashi (Scorpion) - Top ranking assassins who left behind their families from previous lives.

Catwoman = Sonya Blade - Arguably the most recognizable female characters besides Wonder Woman and Kitana, they're often on opposite sides of the law since Sonya is a Special Forces agent while Catwoman is a burglar. They too have close relationships with Batman and Liu Kang (mostly in my works based on MK, and even in the Jeff Rovin novel).

Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing) = Kung Lao - The partners/sidekicks to Batman and Liu Kang, they too are skilled martial artists.

Cyborg = Jax - African-American males who are cybernetically enhanced.

Starfire = Li Mei - Female fighters who can fire plasma/nova blasts. They also have close relationships with Dick Grayson and Kung Lao (at least in my works based on MK).

Raven = Ermac - Figures who use telepathy and dark magic.

Beast Boy = Nightwolf - Characters who can morph into animals.

Shazam = Fujin - Godly figures who are somewhat connected to Superman and Raiden.

The Joker = Kano - Psychopathic criminals with a penchant for knives and a twisted sense of humor.

Harley Quinn = Mileena - Seductive yet playful and twisted femme fatales.

Green Arrow = Kung Jin - Archers who are also skilled martial artists.

Black Canary = Sindel - Authority figures who are also mothers and have ultrasonic screams.

Blue Beetle = Takeda - Young heroes who have an insect motif.

Booster Gold = Johnny Cage - Egotistical celebrity heroes.

Katana = Kenshi - Japanese fighters who wield swords that have the souls of family members trapped in them.

Sinestro = Bi Han (Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot) - Darker foils to Green Lantern and Kuai Liang who used to fight for good until they became villains who invoke fear.

Killer Croc = Reptile - Sideshow freaks with a strong reptilian theme.

Lobo = Baraka - Deadly otherworldly beings.

Bane = Goro - Behemoth fighters with a level of intellect. They also have pivotal roles against Batman and Liu Kang (while Bane broke Batman's back, Liu Kang defeated Goro to become the Mortal Kombat champion).

Doctor Fate = Shang Tsung - Sorcerers.

Lex Luthor = Quan Chi - Power-mad and intellectual villains.

Darkseid = Shao Kahn - Tyrannical rulers bent on conquering worlds.

That's all for now. I did leave some characters out, but these are who I could think of at the moment. If you view them differently, it's all good.

I've written a Google Gemini API bridge for Second Life. I've also written a worn headpatter that lets people feed you snacks and a dynamic terrain footstep "library", and heavily modified the Ostiabs' Elevenlabs TTS.

I wrote a feed-forward non-parallel reinforcement network before - it was a pet doggy! I've modified pretrained genetic perceptrons. I selfhost an ethically trained 20b fp32 8-bit quant'd gguf GPT-3, and sometimes an ethically trained 13b 8bit gguf llama3 GPT-3.5.

Closing thoughts: my beliefs on AI are strong, just because I love machine learning doesn't mean I have to capitulate my values... I don't like company solutions (barring, say, runbox). I take little issue with ethically trained models save for AI art models. We just don't live in a society where they are capable of being ethically or morally feasible.

I've done a miniscule amount of reverse-engineering for the ForgeLight engine, its' packet opcodes and its' asset server hierarchy.

I've reverse-engineered one of the scantly mentioned annoying crash exploits performed by Minecraft masscan botnets... it intentionally crashes Fabric servers in a magically stupid way via a popular library!

I love WinDBG and am well-versed in reading dmp files from it, and you should totally send me your full untampered memory dump right now. [/j]

I have autism, C-PTSD, OCD, chronic pancreatitis and gastroparesis. I don't have a gallbladder. I used to have some malingering psychosis dx when I was younger, but for some reason I grew out of experiencing visual or physical hallucinations and only get sound ones or the feeling of being watched (good thing I made it Weird. That's a great coping mechanism actually, highly recommend) and I don't really think I fit in that dx at all.

Part of my autism is being hyperspecific and logorrheic. It's a big part of my life, sorry!

I am transmasc, and I don't have fallopian tubes, ovaries* or a uterus. 😎

I love matcha green tea, soymilk, maple, sweet red bean, setsumaimo and honey. My favorite food is avocado sushi or veggie cabbage dumplings.

I'm completely immune to the entire class of benzodiazepines and my body doesn't process morphine. I have no idea if it's just not demethylating or I have opioid receptor polymorphism, but the latter is more likely than the former. That makes me tough :3c

More for the JoJo OC parents! This time it's Crys.

Yes, he's half-pillar man. Yes, that's Kars...... kinda. More info under the cut.

I call the guy Wrong!Kars, and he's basically an imperfect clone of Kars born from a splinter off the main Karsteroid that fell to Earth. It grew into a tree, and out of it came this man.

Since he isn't a "true" clone---that is, Kars didn't really intend for him to happen, it was an accident---a lot of him is.... fucked, so to say. The most obvious is the physical hiccups (longer ears, straight hair, duller horns), but there's also the amnesia. He spent his time confusedly wandering the forest he was birthed in, having no memory of who he is yet knowing anything and everything. His Mode is also imperfect, meaning it's less efficient and deadly than Kars'.

He sustained himself via the wildlife, and to a pillar man, that also included the humans from the nearby village. He earned himself a reputation as the forest demon. Crys' soon-to-be mother encountered him while out picking berries, and for some reason Wrong!Kars couldn't bring himself to eat her; he reminds him of..... someone, someone he cared for, someone he..... loved. The two hit it off quite well, and eventually produced a kid.

The villagers didn't take too kindly to that, and burnt her at the stake for laying with a devil. He was so anguished that he set to kill all the townspeople, but the fight dragged on long enough that dawn came, and he, not noticing it in his stupor, was burnt to a crisp by the light. The villagers then contemplated destroying the demonspawn, but a wanderer by the name Loki managed to convince them to not do so. In return, he was to care for the kid. He agreed, and even went a step further--- he straight up opened an orphanage to house any other orphans the village might produce.

And that's how Crys came to be.

Who's Loki? Maybe I'll show him some other day.

Wrong!Kars is extremely disapproving of Crys' Hamon-using acquaintances, but he is especially ruffled at the bespectacled blondie. He's not sure why. His mother, on the other hand, is just glad Crys finally got some friends.

Biografia: Os Ryu era uma família de posses, seus ancestrais começaram o negócio no ramo das bebidas alcoólicas em séculos passados, buscando sempre expandir seus negócios, já os Byrne eram de origem canadense-holandesa, famosa no ramo hoteleiro, a união das famílias aconteceu de forma nada natural romanticamente falando, clássico de herdeiros que se casam pra formar alianças, porém, acabaram se apaixonando conforme o tempo passou. O patriarca é Matthew, chefe executivo da empresa da família que cuida dos interesses dos Byrne na Ásia, já sua mãe é Sunhee, sua carreira como modelo comercial começou numa brincadeira estampando as promoções da famosa garrafinha verde de soju produzida pelos Ryu, porém não durou muito tempo já que decidiram aumentar a família, em 2001 Elise nasceu no país onde seu pai nasceu, Canadá, mais precisamente em Ontário, onde seus avós paternos ainda moram. Em 2009 Evelyn nasceu em solo coreano, quando se mudaram para Seul no bairro de Sinwon, ainda que a mãe quisesse um menininho naquela casa, pararam por ali. Já tinha beijado alguns rapazes atrás da arquibancada, nas festas e jantares da elite coreana, mas foi no vestiário depois da aula de natação que as borboletinhas encheram seu estômago, um, dois, três beijos na boca da sua crushzinha apenas a deixaram com vontade de mais e mais. you were waiting at the side walk on your way to the grocery store from your doctors appointment, and as the light turned green you started to walk across, then that’s when your day went bad…. a car hit you from the side — it looked as if it was speeding which it was. the car stopped for a few seconds then sped off a hit and run. almost everyone who was around you at that time ran over to check if you were okay and when you didn’t respond 911 was called immediately.

after a few hours you woke up in a hospital bed and when you tried to move your arm you cried out in pain which alerted the man sitting next to you

“hey! hey hey, no! do not move — you are in the hospital my dear” hanzo spoke as he rushed to place your arm back down but very gently. you whined in pain as you looked over at him

“what …. happened….?” you asked as he sat down and gently petted your head. he was normally always gentle with you but now he was so gentle he never thought it was possible

“the doctors and a few others told me a car had hit you while you were walking…. the doctor told me you were passed out when they got there so they took you to the hospital immediately. they also said you have a broken arm, three broken ribs and a concussion. but you should be able to go home when you’re able to move around a bit” he spoke, his voice was so soft. you took in all this information

“and the person who hit me…? where are they?”

“a kind gentleman told me that the person drove off almost immediately….” his soft voice turned into anger now, he was making a fist with his free hand “when i find them…. they will pay for hurting my wife”

“hanzo….”

“my apologies, Watashi no hikari… but he will not get away with hurting you. please forgive me”

you had no energy to argue with him right now, so you just nodded and fell back to sleep. hanzo never left your side and when it was time for you to go home he was there by your side all hours of the day. he was so paranoid that the medication that was given to you didn’t work somehow and that you’d feel all the pain of your broken bones, even tho you say that you’re fine. whenever he had to leave he always makes sure someone is at the house with you and taking care of you until you are 100% again

you and Kuai were having a nice day, this was one of his days off so he decided to go into the city with you. he never likes going into the city mainly because it was crowded and he isn’t that big of a fan of crowded spaces. throughout the day was you and him trying different sweet treats at the mall and then you had lunch at a small restaurant a very nice old man and his daughter owned. the food was amazing and now it was time to do another activity.

kuai had told you to start walking ahead as he paid and that he would catch up to you. as you started to walk across the side walk to the other side of the road a drunk driver had hit you, pretty hard too. you went unconscious almost immediately and was sent flying to the other side of the street. the driver tried to drive away but a crowd of people stopped him and started hitting his car.

kuai heard the noise of people yelling and stuff and he looked out the window to see what was happening. he saw a crowd of people at a car and another crowd in the middle of the intersection, someone had moved out the way a bit and he was able to see you laying on the floor and bleeding. he panicked and quickly ran out the restaurant to run towards you

he pushed a few people out the way to see what was going on and when he saw you laying there in the middle, bleeding and unconscious he panicked thinking you were dead. after a few hours you woke up in the hospital bed and you looked around to see what was around you, then you saw Kuai pacing back and forth, he seemed to have not noticed you woke up yet so you announced it

“kuai….?” you spoke, your voice seemingly brought him back to earth and he quickly rushed towards you

“huā! oh thank god you’re okay! i was worried” he sat down in the chair next to you and he gently placed his hand on your head and gently rubbed your forehead

“i have… no idea what happened….”

“some drunk idiot hit you — some people said you went unconscious immediately because of how hard he hit you. you have a broken leg, arm, a few broken ribs and a concussion”

he watched as you nodded and took in this information. after a few seconds he watched you fall back to sleep and he stood up to gently place a kiss on your forehead. he’ll wait until you’re able to go back home to take care of the drunk man.

about a week later you were able to go home with Kuai. he was around you almost all the time until you were fully healed or unless he was gone taking care of his work. he treated you like glass that was easily breakable with the slightest touch. once your leg has healed up he knew you were able to walk around more so he excused himself to take care of the drunk man who hit you — let’s not talk about that tho 😁

you were out buying stuff for the house while Bi Han was sitting at home waiting for you to get home. he was worried about you leaving into the city all by yourself, but you said you would be okay by yourself. he started pacing back and forth thinking you were supposed to be back by now

“maybe we can go stalk her? follow her around to make sure she is okay?” bi hans shadow suggested from the couch

“shut up — she would kill us again.. she said she can handle herself so i trust her” he wanted to go follow you more than anything to be honest…. he wanted to make sure you were safe

“she is our wife though…. we have to protect her” after shadow said that Bi han immediately ran out the door to go find you. you were walking down the sidewalk so calmly like you were trying to figure out what store to go to.

bi han was peeping from around a corner. as you were crossing the street a car hit you from the side and the car immediately stopped causing the tires to screech. it’s almost like the world was in slow motion when you got hit, he rushed over to you and saw that you were still awake just had a broken arm and few scrapes from rolling on the floor a bit. he checked on you and then went to go give the person who hit you a ear full. the only thing that stopped him from getting violent was you begging him not to

“honey please! i wasnt looking when i was crossing the sidewalk — it’s more my fault than theirs!” you said as you stood up and dusted yourself off with your good arm. you had a pretty good pain tolerance, you’ve broken a lot of bones as a kid from being stupid or something so you barely even reacted to your arm being broken this time. you grabbed Bi han and had a chat with the person. you actually weren’t mad and said that they didn’t have to worry about anything. after your conversation you and Bi han walked to the nearby hospital

“we should have killed them!” shadow said as he walked beside you, staring at your injuries

“and if you did i would have killed you both. like i said, it was more my fault than theirs”

“but still! they hurt you!”

“let it go, they were obviously apologetic so shut it” you opened the door to the hospital and went to go tell the doctors what happened and that your arm is broken. the saw you immediately and took you back to clean out your injuries and take care of your arm. after about an hour or two you were able to go with Bi han

“we are not letting you leave the house again” he said making it sound like a joke but he really meant it…

you and kabal were walking home together and he saw a weapons shop with a window display that was showing knives. he has a knife collection at home and he saw a knife he’s been looking at for so long

“hey baby — i’m gonna go try and get this knife you go find a restaurant for us to eat at” he said, he recently did a job where he got a lot of money so he was treating the both of you that day, you nodded and he went into the shop to talk to the owner about the knife. you went to walk to the restaurant you’ve wanted to go to for so long. you started to walk across the side walk with a happy face

after a few seconds of walking a car hit you from the side, you rolled a bit and the car hit a tree across the street, then followed two cop cars, one stopped beside you and the other went to the person who hit you. the guy was arrested and two of the cops came to take care of you, you were hit so hard that you went unconscious almost immediately,

kabal came out and saw the scene, when he saw you on the floor unresponsive he panicked and ran towards you, asking the cop what happened. one of the cops tried to calm him down as the paramedics came, put you on the stretcher and tried to give you medical attention

“sir, we can’t have any civilians in the truck, we will try everything we can to save her” a cop told him

“s…. ‘save her’ is she dead?! the fuck do you mean save her?!”

“she is unresponsive, from what i could tell her heart beat was very slow. there are chances she might not survive, there are chances she will. we have to leave that to the doctors. you can follow us in your car or we can give you a ride there”

kabal just ran to the car and started it, he was so scared he was going to lose you, he felt his heart beating so fast and hard it felt like it was going 500 miles per hour. he followed the ambulance truck and was panicking the entire way there

about a few hours passed and kabal was waiting in the waiting room, pacing back and forth waiting for a doctor to come and tell him that you were okay. a nurse finally did come out

“okay… so, she’s okay. she’s responsive, she’s breathing and we were able to save her. she’s is going in and out a little bit because of the medication we had to give her but she’s okay. her heart did stop for about two or three minutes in the truck but we were able to bring her back” the nurse said, kabal let out a sigh of relief and sat down “you can go and see her in room 90, just beware she will fall asleep and wake up in the middle of a conversation for about a few hours”

he made his way to your room and he saw you tiredly wave to him with one hand before it plopped back down to the bed

“h-helloooooo…..~” you were so out of it kabal had to hold back his chuckle as he went to go sit beside your bed and gently rubbed your un-injured hand “i…. am soooooo….. fuckin high….” you said before giggling a bit before your head went back on your pillow

“yeah? i’m gonna have to ask the doctors to give me what you’re having” he joked just to make the situation a little better

“he…hehehe….haaahaaa *inhale* ooo…. ah….” and with that you fell asleep. he chuckled and he stayed with you until you woke back up again. every conversation you had each time you woke up was about something completely different each time. one conversation was about rainbows, the other was about a random bird you saw out the window, another one was about taxes.
