When my pen comes and I start drawing, I’m going to start drawing random popular anime characters doing weird stuff with feet (I.e licking, sucking, tickling etc) and then I’m going to start tagging people and tell everyone that I’m so happy that they commissioned me to draw that

Getting the upper hand in a dispute or a fight often depends on how creative you are. Making do with what you have is an important skill to cultivate. So is finding value in things or people that, at first glance, don’t seem all that impressive. Something that looks like a problem can actually be a blessing in disguise if you figure out how to best utilize it.
Shigaraki was very familiar with that concept.
The second you divulged the details of your Quirk to him on that first day, he knew you were something special. Was he using you? Absolutely. But you were a willing participant in his deceit. You knew exactly what you were signing up for by joining him for this meeting.
Shigaraki lied directly to their faces. And you were in on the joke this time.
Well, not really. That was a bit of an oversimplification of the situation. He knew better than to lie outright during the negotiations with the Shie Hassaikai. Kai Chisaki was sharp, clever and dangerous. Lying to a man like that was a quick way to shoot yourself in the foot if you were trying to establish a good rapport. Overhaul had to trust that his alliance with the League was genuine.
Bending the truth or omitting details was still fair game though.
Tomura had already agreed to loan Twice and Toga’s services to the Shie Hassaikai. But there was one more piece on the board that had yet to move – you. Shigaraki desperately wanted you here as a part of the negotiations. The reason for that was gradually becoming beginning to reveal itself. You were a little impressed. Often times people poked fun at Shigaraki for his childish nature – but you had to admit, the man was quite clever when he wanted to be.
“Gotta say, I’m surprised you insisted on bringing an escort with you,” Chisaki started. “What can this one do? She don’t look like much but looks can be deceiving. I never know with you people. Telekinesis or a healing Quirk, maybe?” Overhaul’s casual dismissal of your appearance did sting a little but you shrugged it off. Chalk it up to his lack of social tact. This guy was a piece of work, wasn’t he? Not one to mince words for the sake of personal feelings. It didn’t matter – but fuck was it rude. You wondered how anyone stuck around long enough to stay loyal to him with an attitude like that.
“She’s lucky,” Tomura said – taking note of how Overhaul’s eyes widened ever so slightly at the revelation. Bingo. You were being dangled in front of him like a grand prize to be won. And it was working like a charm. The value of such a unique ability was not lost on the Yakuza leader. Having irrefutable luck on your side was a game-changer after all. Now all Tomura had to do was embellish the nature of your skills a little bit. “As long as she’s here with me – you can’t touch me.”
Bad things will happen if you do.
Shigaraki didn’t say that part out loud. The implication was that your mere presence was enough to keep him safe. In a way, he wasn’t wrong. The fact that you caused trouble for everyone else around you was a lie of omission. One that would undoubtedly come back to bite Overhaul should he decide to take Shigaraki’s bait.
You sat beside him, quietly watching the exchange. The role you played was much more akin to that of a piece of home decoration. Rather than Shigaraki’s witness – which was technically what you were here to do. He had instructed you not to interfere. Just to watch. So you did as you were told, observing as he sold you off to the Shie Hassaikai for the sake of the plan. His pitch had been pretty solid. You knew Shigaraki was leaving out the details of your Quirk on purpose. Without its obvious drawbacks – it’s a very powerful ability to have. One Overhaul wouldn’t be able to resist. You watched the man in question fidget and weigh the options in his mind.
Every glance and gesture Overhaul made in your direction had your hair standing on end. High alert. The idea that you might be spending time near him soon turned your blood to ice. Your entire body and mind rejected his presence. Like he was invading something personal to you by just existing in close proximity. Cold and harsh – his eyes seemed almost clinical in their assessment of you. Chisaki took your measure in pensive silence. You knew what he was seeing. Nothing much. A harmless young woman he could bend to his will. That’s all anyone ever saw before you joined the League.
Go ahead – think what you will.
Overhaul’s dismissal of your personal strength of will would lead to the glorious downfall of the organization he spent years protecting. You bit the inside of your cheek as the urge to smile surfaced. The pain was enough to deter you for the moment, but it took no small amount of energy to keep your poker face on during the rest of the meeting.
“I want her too.” There it was. As predicted.
“No way,” Shigaraki’s objection was immediate. Pure bullshit, of course. You had to hand it to the guy – he wasn’t bad at playing pretend. The poor suckers had no idea they were being set up for failure. “She’s my insurance, why would I risk parting from her side? You’re taking a lot of liberties with your demands for a guy who killed one of ours. You’ve got droves of disposable thugs on your side but every member of the League is precious to me. The girl included.”
“I don’t want power like that where I can’t see it. The girl stays with us for a bit. Take it or leave it.”
A tantalizing ultimatum. Tomura pretended to be annoyed – hummed and hawed about the issue for a bit but ultimately relented. He couldn’t give in too easily. Dramatics made for such wonderful stories. “This is a big ask, Overhaul. I hope you appreciate the sacrifices the League is making for your organization.”
The man leaned back in his seat – satisfied golden eyes honing in on your face. You wanted to hurt him for looking at you like that. “Oh, I do. This is the start of a very fruitful relationship – I assure you.”
It would be. Just not quite for him.
Tumblr media
Inaction in the face of injustice is the worst kind of cruelty.
It was unbearable to watch – the way they treated this little girl. What was her name? That’s right. Eri.
You couldn’t recall anyone calling her that name with any kind of affection. What was essentially a basic human right was treated like a formality by these people. They used her blood to fuel the production of the anti-Quirk serum, experimented with it, and in return showed her no genuine kindness to speak of.
It had only been a couple of days since you’d joined the Shie Hassaikai’s ranks but when the depth of their depravity was revealed to you, you were about ready to demolish the place. Including everyone associated with them and their disgusting experiments. The image of Eri strapped to a medical slab engrained itself into your memory, her whimpering cries of agony driving you crazy. She was helpless. Reduced to being nothing more than a lab rat when she should be outside, playing with other kids her age and enjoying life. Far away from whatever nightmare she had been trapped in. You stood at her bedside as the medical personnel concluded their test results and reported their findings to the big man himself. It broke your heart to play pretend in front of her. A child should be nourished and cared for, not poked and prodded for the sake of some grand scheme.
“Don’t touch her,” Chisaki chastised when you placed a hand on the girl’s shoulder in an attempt to soothe her pain. She flinched at your touch, recoiling – terrified eyes darting between you and her wardens. “Unless you’re looking to get killed, of course. People die around Eri, you know?”
The little girl sniffled. You clenched your jaw and bit the inside of your cheek.
People died around you too. Placing blame on a little girl and her Quirk was low. Disgusting behavior perpetuated by men too manipulative to care about anything but their own needs. Eri wasn’t responsible for the way her abilities worked – but Overhaul used this fear to his advantage to keep her obedient. The people in your past had done the same. You couldn’t call him out on it without blowing your cover though. That hurt the most right now. Despite the pain in your chest, you nodded, stepping away from the girl.
Kai Chisaki was by far the worst offender but the fact that no one told him to stop was just as sickening.
Part of it was fear.
No one wanted to be disintegrated over a dispute after all. Several of its members had already met a cruel fate in the short time you’d spent in their care. The Shie Hassaikai was nothing like the League in that regard. The League protected their own to a ferocious degree. They disagreed sometimes – but it was never a matter of life and death. Overhaul, on the other hand, destroyed opposition within his ranks without hesitation or remorse. You couldn’t stand it. The fake smile you were forced to wear whenever he was around tasted increasingly bitter. Toga and Twice were delegated to doing other tasks while you were left to decorate Chisaki’s arm, so you didn’t even have them to rely on.
He was still under the impression that your Quirk worked by proximity after all. The closer you were to him – the more he would benefit from your Luck. What he was doing to that girl was unforgivable. It took a lot of restraint on your part to let him touch you at all. Those were the hands of a monster in human disguise. A man so quick to sacrifice the life of a child for personal gain. Kai Chisaki made you feel sick, violent and angry. Each time he dragged you along to do his bidding, all you could think about was slapping the back of his head with something heavy or sharp. Preferably to a lethal degree.
You wouldn’t shed a tear if the bastard never got back up again.
Patience was key though. Shigaraki had made that very clear. When the time was right, you would pull the rug out from under the bastard. For now, you waited and played the part of the obedient piece of arm candy. Sticking to his side, you followed Overhaul like a shadow. As long as he was under the impression you would make him Lucky, you would be kept safe from his volatile tendencies to deconstruct his underlings for every minor mishap.
Still, when he finally dismissed you to do private business, you were grateful. Finally able to breathe freely again without him looming over your shoulder constantly.
You were even more elated when you spotted your fellow League members lounging around in one of the underground rooms of the compound. Toga and Twice had been kept busy doing menial things, though neither of them had the displeasure of being carted around by the big boss like you had. Their presence was enough to make you sigh in relief. You found comfort in them – your strange little family. Seeing them turn their heads to greet you, smiling, never failed to make you feel grateful for the gift you’d been given.
“Hey look who it is!” Toga waved you over with a smile. “We were worried about you, you know? Having to spend all that time with Overhaul must suck…”
“Tell me about it,” you said, flopping down onto one of the couches. “The guy’s nuts.”
“He’s not too bad – Can’t stand him!” The duality of man, or rather the duality of Twice, still caught you off guard sometimes. Like right now for instance: you couldn’t imagine anyone calling Overhaul not too bad. Still – his comment coaxed a laugh from you regardless. That was something you sorely needed after spending time in Eri’s prison cell – sorry, medical room.
“How’re things on your end?” you asked, keeping your question vague enough so any listening ears would not suspect foul play. “Everything going smoothly?”
“It’s okay. I’m real bored though. Nothing exciting ever happens around here. Someone should shake up the place, y’know? Have a little fun.”
You laughed at Toga’s interesting choice of words, nodding along in agreement. Now – wouldn’t that be something? “I know what you mean. I almost miss setting shit on fire with Dabi.”
Giggling as she cupped her own cheeks to soothe her blushing skin with cool hands, the blonde leaned on the side of the sofa to observe your face. “You just miss that flaming asshole, period. Admit it.”
“I do miss him. Once this is all over I can’t wait to see him again.” Your eyes drifted from your companions for a moment as you thought of reuniting with him, a small dusting of pink rising to your cheeks. His promise still rang in the back of your head.
“That is so cute!” Toga was positively beside herself with glee. The girl’s face was flushed bright red as she kicked her feet and giggled. It was kind of flattering to see her be so excited about your relationship with Dabi. “Let’s hope we can wrap up this job soon s–”
Your conversation was cut short when the twin doors swung open, clattering against the wall with great force. Its hinges groaned and creaked, buckling under the sudden impact.
A small group of individuals made their way into the rec room, your eyes widening when you recognized one of them. And subsequently the rest of the trio as well. Toya Setsuno glared at you over the edge of his plague mask – a glimmer of recognition festering into anger. You knew what that look meant. He remembered you from that night and brought back-up. Two other members from the Eight Bullets covered his flank. None of them looked happy to see you.
Toga glanced at you and grinned, the reflection of light against the knife hidden in her cardigan gleaming against her pale skin. You shook your head quietly – discouraging her from engaging with them. Waiting for you to say the word, her fingers brushed over the handle of the weapon. Resting there until someone made a move. Magne’s shadow loomed over your shoulder in that moment. You knew very little of the woman whose shoes you had filled – but you did know one thing: Overhaul was the reason she was no longer with the League. He had killed her without hesitation and Toga held that grudge tight to her chest. She would maim them to protect you. Merciless in her quest to prevent another sister from vanishing. You had to remind her that Overhaul would not let them hurt you. Trusting in the idea that Shigaraki was right about his interest in your Quirk.
Despite the faith you had in your leader’s plan, the tension in the room was palpable and, for a moment, you feared the gig was up. Then…
“Boss wants to see you in the lab,” Setsuno said, almost barking the sentence in your direction. “Don’t make him wait.”
You glanced at your companions and nodded. Twice and Toga say nothing but begrudgingly accept your departure. They kept their eyes on the trio by the door as you passed them by. Whatever this was – you will handle it. Despite your outward confidence, leaving your friends behind with the Eight Bullets did make you feel uneasy.
As capable as you knew they were, you couldn’t help but want to stick together.
A buzzing in your pocket distracted you from your oncoming confrontation with Overhaul. He could wait two more minutes, couldn’t he? You fished for your phone as you made your way toward the lab. Smiling, you stared at the text displayed on your home screen. A message, reading loud and clear:
Unknown Number heroes gathering outside, omw D

Of course we can’t meet Lena, internet people that don’t exist are from the made up land of Canada!
Don't trust those canada-truthers, they'll tell you our country exists, but have you ever actually met a Canadian? I bet you've only watched videos or looked at pictures online of people claiming to be "Canadian". It's all an elaborate scheme, a puppet theatre of lies and slander, a house of cards built on the tip of an iceberg crafted from deceit propagated by the forked-tongue of sophistry and prevarication, the choice weapons of the shadow masters preying on our disoriented sensibilities, pitting us against each other like ants in a jar.
Behold, the true-true that will unite us against the tyranny of lies

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, S01E04 “KING OF THE NARROW SEA” SENTENCE STARTERS
❛ I could learn to like that one. ❜
❛ I would happily row myself back to King's Landing if it brought an end to this ridiculous pageant. ❜
❛ You wear a crown. Do you also call yourself "King"? ❜
❛ I know that there is only one true king, Your Grace. ❜
❛ The realm owes you a great debt. ❜
❛ Congratulations on your victory. ❜
❛ To have every young knight and lord in the Seven Kingdoms fawning over you... What misery. ❜
❛ I think it's rather romantic. ❜
❛ How romantic it must be to get imprisoned in a castle and made to squeeze out heirs. ❜
❛ I find I have few friends lately. ❜
❛ Why did you come back? ❜
❛ Though I do suppose you seem changed by your adventures. More mature, perhaps. ❜
❛ You'll get used to the attention. ❜
❛ My father seems content to sell me off to whichever lord has the biggest castle. ❜
❛ Marriage is only a political arrangement. Once you are wed, you can do as you like. ❜
❛ For men marriage might be a political arrangement. For women it is like to be a death sentence. ❜
❛ Your wife has been fortunate. You haven’t put a child in her. ❜
❛ You can not live your life in fear, or you will forsake the best parts of it. ❜
❛ I have no desire to live in fear. Only solitude. ❜
❛ Where are we going? ❜
❛ Do you wish to know your death, child? ❜
❛ You have a far kinder touch than they do. ❜
❛ Their wants are of no consequence. ❜
❛ For one night, I wish to be free of the burdens of my inheritance. ❜
❛ Who knows when I'll next taste freedom? ❜
❛ The hour is quite late. ❜
❛ Fucking is a pleasure, you see. For the woman as it is the man. ❜
❛ Am I your prisoner? ❜
❛ I'm your protector, lucky for you. ❜
❛ Hard lessons are not welcomed but suffered. ❜
❛ I have discomforting news. I thought it best shared discreetly. ❜
❛ It is no easy thing to tell a father of his daughter's exploits. ❜
❛ They were engaged in behaviors unbecoming of a maiden... ❜
❛ This is a lie. You have been lied to. ❜
❛ Who is responsible for this gossip? Have this rumormonger brought before me at once, and I will take their eyes. ❜
❛ Are you so sick with ambition that you would have my daughter stalked? Spied upon? ❜
❛ You think yourself a cunning man. Your designs are obvious. ❜
❛ This is a vile accusation. ❜
❛ You must know I would never. You cannot believe such gossip. ❜
❛ I am the Princess. To question my virtue is an act of treason. ❜
❛ So you are accusing me of slanders... you overheard? ❜
❛ I only want to help you. ❜
❛ I was only a spectator. I didn't do anything. ❜
❛ I swear this to you upon the memory of my mother. ❜
❛ It was foolish of you to place yourself in a position where your virtue could even come into question. ❜
❛ Take your fucking hands off me. ❜
❛ I need to understand the charge before I can attempt to discredit it. ❜
❛ Who gives a fuck what some lord thinks? ❜
❛ You are the dragon. Your word is truth and law. ❜
❛ I have spent a lifetime defending you. But your heart is even blacker than I thought. ❜
❛ Wed her to me. ❜
❛ You said I could have anything. I want [name]. I'll take her as she is. ❜
❛ You are no conqueror. You are a plague sent to destroy me. ❜
❛ Strive to restore whatever scrap of honor remains in you. Or don't. Matters not to me. As long as you are gone from my sight for good. ❜
❛ It is not in [name]'s nature to be deceitful. ❜
❛ Whatever transpired, [name] is not innocent. ❜
❛ You've yet to ask me for the truth of what happened. ❜
❛ The truth does not matter. Only perception. ❜
❛ Were I born a man, I could bed whomever I wanted. I could father a dozen bastards, and no one in your court would blink an eye. ❜
❛ You will wed [name], and you will do so without protest. ❜
❛ You are my political headache! ❜
❛ And what will you do about the vulture who perches upon your throne? ❜
❛ She was a calculated distraction. I only now realize how well-calculated it was. ❜
❛ I can no longer trust your judgment. ❜

open starter — imprisonment; day 7
That tightening knot of panic in her chest was yet to be loosened and she doubted if it would ever fully disappear. Not in these circumstances, at least. Sarah Kline had not been all too thrilled about her meeting with Miss. Cresta after everything that was said and done. But it was the Presidents request, so she would oblige - never imagining it would lead her to this. She couldn’t completely recollect what exactly had happened. There was shouting, pleading, tight handcuffs, stern instructions and a lot of tears. It had made everything so blurry.
Once the daylight closed in behind them as they entered District 13, it all became so permanent. Perhaps it would have been the last time she had ever seen anything of the outside world.
Heels drummed against the steel decor of the underground district as she was led through the corridors to her cell. It was prehistoric. Terribly outdated with a outrageous lack of privacy. She was stripped from her identity within minutes - her pearls, clothes, shoes, all of it was removed. Her face cleansed of the layers of deceit. The only thing that remained were the soft, wavy imprints her curling iron had left on her hair the previous day.
That was when the self-pity began. The crying. The sleepless nights. The anxiety and feelings of injustice. Sarah couldn’t stomach her food - and not just because it was terribly cooked.
Slander. That was what she was being punished for. For speaking her mind about the people who had betrayed her. Lied to her more than once. For telling what she assumed to be the truth. Then again, terrorists didn’t care anyway. If they wished to torture you, they would find a reason to do so and slander might be as good as a reason as any.
“You know how degrading this is?” she sniffled, the whites of her eyes shaded with the brightest of reds. They stung from the saltiness that had washed them. “I don’t know what they could possibly want from me.” She breathed, swallowing down a sob.

7th February >> Fr. Martin's Reflections / Homilies for Today's Mass Readings (Inc. Mark 7:14-23) for Wednesday, Fifth Week in Ordinary Time: ‘It is the things that come out of a person that make them unclean’.
Wednesday, Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel (Except USA) Mark 7:14-23 It is what comes out of a man that makes him unclean.
Jesus called the people to him and said, ‘Listen to me, all of you, and understand. Nothing that goes into a man from outside can make him unclean; it is the things that come out of a man that make him unclean. If anyone has ears to hear, let him listen to this.’
When he had gone back into the house, away from the crowd, his disciples questioned him about the parable. He said to them, ‘Do you not understand either? Can you not see that whatever goes into a man from outside cannot make him unclean, because it does not go into his heart but through his stomach and passes out into the sewer?’ (Thus he pronounced all foods clean.) And he went on, ‘It is what comes out of a man that makes him unclean. For it is from within, from men’s hearts, that evil intentions emerge: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, malice, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within and make a man unclean.’
Gospel (USA) Mark 7:14-23 What comes out of the man, that is what defiles him.
Jesus summoned the crowd again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand. Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile.”
When he got home away from the crowd his disciples questioned him about the parable. He said to them, “Are even you likewise without understanding? Do you not realize that everything that goes into a person from outside cannot defile, since it enters not the heart but the stomach and passes out into the latrine?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.) “But what comes out of the man, that is what defiles him. From within the man, from his heart, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly. All these evils come from within and they defile.”
Reflections (7)
(i) Wednesday, Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
In today’s first reading, the Queen of Sheba praises King Solomon to the hilt. She was deeply impressed by his wisdom, but also by his palaces, the food at his table, the accommodation for his officials, the organisation of his staff, his cup-bearers, his sacrifices in the Temple, his wives, his servants and much else. As a monarch herself, she was impressed by the extraordinary trappings of monarchy and saw it all as a sign of God’s everlasting love for Israel. The lavish scale of the visible expressions of monarchy took the Queen’s breath away. In the gospel reading, in contrast, Jesus places the focus not on externals but on what is in a person’s heart. He recognized that what lies within a person is of much greater importance because it is the source of either evil intentions or good intentions. Jesus came to transform the human heart, to create a community of disciples whose hearts were transformed by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God’s love. He said on one occasion that he had come to cast fire upon the earth, the fire of the Holy Spirit that can burn away what is not of God in our hearts and kindle in our hearts the fire of God’s love. It is only a community of people of transformed hearts who can created an opening for the coming of God’s kingdom, which bears little resemblance to the kingdoms of the various Solomons of this world. We are all called to belong to such a community.
And/Or
(ii) Wednesday of Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
In this morning’s gospel Jesus speaks about the human heart. The image of the human heart is very much to the fore around Saint Valentine’s day. It is the traditional symbol of love, especially of romantic love, at this time of the year. In the gospel reading Jesus takes a somewhat more sanguine view of the human heart. He declares it to be the seat of evil intentions that are damaging and destructive of others. The heart is the inner core of the person and we know that our inner core can have both its light and its shade; it can be a reservoir for good and for harm. One of the great traditional images of our faith in the past has been the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Many of us may have grown up with an image of the Sacred Heart in our homes. It was an image which declared that at God’s inner core was a totally selfless love, a love that was revealed fully in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. This greater love was powerfully creative and life-giving. Our calling is to have hearts that in some sense reflect the Sacred Heart, to have an inner core that partakes in some way of God’s inner core. This grand vision of our fundamental calling is well captured in that simple but profound prayer that many of us will have learned at some time, ‘Come Holy Spirit, fill my heart, and kindle in me the fire of your love’.
And/Or
(iii) Wednesday of Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
In the gospel reading Jesus makes a distinction between what is on the outside of a person and what is within. The religious experts of the time were very concerned about certain external rituals that needed to be performed if a person was to be right with God. Jesus declares that what is much more important in God’s eyes is what is within the heart of the person, because what is within a person determines a person’s moral behaviour, how they speak and how they act. This is what matters to God rather than various ritual washings of one kind or another or what people eat or don’t eat. As in yesterday’s gospel reading, Jesus is saying that the religious experts of the time are not getting their priorities right. Their priorities are not God’s priorities. The most important part of a tree is its roots, which are invisible because they go down deep into the earth. Jesus is suggesting God wants us to look deeply into ourselves with a view to getting our depths right. Our inner life will determine the quality of our outer, observable life. Our underlying attitudes and values are what really matters. We need to keep working on our inner core, or, rather, allow the Lord to keep working on it, asking him to keep on renewing our heart so that it corresponds more to his heart.
And/Or
(iv) Wednesday, Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
In the gospel reading Jesus is responding to those who pay too much attention to external ritual, external observance, and not enough attention to what is going on within, in their heart, their inner core. Jesus declares that it is from within, from people’s hearts, that evil intentions emerge. Our inner core, what the gospel calls our ‘heart’, can be a reservoir for good, but it can also be a reservoir for evil. Jesus seems to have been very aware that we are capable of great evil as well as great good. He wanted people to have hearts that were the wellspring of all that is good, wholesome and life-giving. You may recall one of the beatitudes he spoke, ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God’. He was declaring blessed those whose heart is in the right place, as we might say today, those whose heart is fixed on God, whose intention is centred on what God wants, on God’s will, God’s desire for our lives and our world. It is from such a heart that great good comes. Only harm can come from a heart that is fixed on self, centred on its own comfort and pleasure. We need to keep calling on the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts, so that we are as pure in heart as Jesus was, as focused on God’s will for our lives as he was.
And/Or
(v) Wednesday, Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
The words of Jesus in today’s gospel reading are part of the response to the experts in the Jewish Law who criticize Jesus’ disciples for ‘eating with defiled hands, that is, without washing them’. This failure to follow the washings prescribed was considered to make someone ritually unclean. In his response, Jesus shifts the focus away from a concern with external, ritual, cleanliness, to a focus on what lies within the human person, what Jesus calls the ‘heart’. Jesus was more concerned with people’s underlying attitudes and values than with whether or not they followed various human regulations that some held to be sacred. It is not that Jesus made a sharp distinction between what was internal to someone and what was external. He was well aware that what is internal will reveal itself externally. As he declares in the gospel reading, the very visible and external behaviours of fornication, theft, murder, and adultery all have roots within the person. ‘The come from within and make a person unclean’. What is within the heart cannot be kept hidden for long. As Jesus says elsewhere, ‘a good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit… Thus you will know them by their fruits’. If our heart is right, our lives will bear good fruit that is visible to all. Getting our heart right is as much God’s work as ours. There is a conviction throughout the Scriptures that it is God who works the internal transformation that shows itself in a life of goodness. That same conviction is well expressed in the prayer to the Holy Spirit, ‘Come Holy Spirit, fill my heart, and kindle in me the fire of your love’.
And/Or
(vi) Wednesday, Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
Today’s first reading is the second of two accounts of the creation of the human person in the opening chapters of Genesis. There are two elements at play in human creation in this account, the dust of the soil and the breath of God. The author is suggesting that the human person is both of the earth and of God. We are not purely spiritual beings, and we are not purely material beings. We are embodied spirits. Because we are of the earth, we are intimately related to the rest of creation. Because we have the breath of God within us, we are intimately related to the Creator God. We don’t have to flee our bodies, or flee creation, to encounter God. We come to God in all our embodied reality. Similarly, we relate to the rest of creation as God’s agents, endowed with God’s creative Spirit, tasked with giving expression to God’s care for creation. As people who have received the breath of God, the Spirit of God, all we say and do in the body is to be shaped by God’s Spirit. In the gospel reading, Jesus lists attitudes and actions that are not shaped by God’s Spirit, such as theft, murder, adultery, avarice, deceit, envy, pride and folly. ‘All these evil things’, Jesus says, come from within, from an inner core that is not shaped by God’s Spirit. We need God to keep breathing his breath or Spirit of life into our lives, if we are to live in ways that ‘renew the face of the earth’ in the words of today’s responsorial psalm.
And/Or
(vii) Wednesday, Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
In today’s first reading the Queen of Sheba visits King Solomon in response to all she has heard about him. She wasn’t disappointed. In fact she declares the reality to be much greater than the rumour, ‘for wisdom and prosperity you surpass the report I heard’. Sheba has been identified with south western Arabia, modern day Yemen, or with Ethiopia. Jesus makes reference to this incident in the first Book of Kings declaring that the Queen of the South ‘came from the ends of the earth to listen to the wisdom of Solomon, and see, something greater than Solomon is here’. Jesus spoke these words in response to those who were looking for a sign from him; they were failing to appreciate the signs of God’s presence that were already clearly visible in his ministry, including in the wisdom of his teaching. In today’s gospel reading, Jesus gives expression to some of his wisdom, declaring that what makes a person ritually ‘unclean’ in God’s presence is not certain kinds of food he or she may eat but what resides in the person’s heart. More than once in his teaching, Jesus invites people to look beyond externals and appearances to the human heart. The widow who put two copper coins into the Temple treasury would have been regarded less favourably than those who put much larger sums into the Temple treasury. Yet, Jesus, looking at the heart, recognized that the generosity of this widow was of a completely superior quality to that of others, because the little she gave was everything she had to live on. In the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, the Pharisee who was pleased with his exemplary life was less acceptable to God than the tax collector who publicly confessed himself to be a sinner, because the heart of the latter was more open to God. Jesus encourages us to look beyond appearances to the heart, in our own regard and in regard to others.

Some forms of religion are energized by Satan and his minions.
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and they will provide great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect (God’s chosen ones)…
Therefore, my beloved, run [keep far, far away] from [any sort of] idolatry [and that includes loving anything more than God, or participating in anything that leads to sin and enslaves the soul]. I am speaking as to wise and sensible people; judge [carefully and thoughtfully consider] for yourselves what I say. Is the cup of blessing which we bless [at the Lord’s Supper] not a sharing in the blood of Christ? [Indeed it is.] Is the bread which we break not a sharing in the body of Christ? [Indeed it is.] Since there is one bread, we [believers] who are many are [united into] one body; for we all partake of the one bread [which represents the body of Christ]. Consider the people of Israel; are those who eat the sacrifices not partners of the altar [united in their worship of the same God]? [Indeed they are.] What do I mean then? That a thing offered to idols is anything [special or changed simply because it is offered], or that an idol is anything? On the contrary, the things which the Gentiles (pagans) sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons [in effect], and not to God; and I do not want you to become partners with demons [by eating at feasts in pagan temples]. You cannot drink [both] the Lord’s cup and the cup of demons. You cannot share in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons [thereby becoming partners with them]. Do we [really] provoke the Lord to jealousy [when we eat food sacrificed to handmade “gods” at pagan feasts]? Are we [spiritually] stronger than He? [Certainly not! He knows that the idols are nothing. But we deeply offend Him.]… among them the god of this world [Satan] has blinded the minds of the unbelieving to prevent them from seeing the illuminating light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
The coming of the [Antichrist, the lawless] one is through the activity of Satan, [attended] with great power [all kinds of counterfeit miracles] and [deceptive] signs and false wonders [all of them lies], and by unlimited seduction to evil and with all the deception of wickedness for those who are perishing, because they did not welcome the love of the truth [of the gospel] so as to be saved [they were spiritually blind, and rejected the truth that would have saved them]…
But the [Holy] Spirit explicitly and unmistakably declares that in later times some will turn away from the faith, paying attention instead to deceitful and seductive spirits and doctrines of demons…
‘I know your suffering and your poverty (but you are rich), and how you are blasphemed and slandered by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan [they are Jews only by blood, and do not believe and truly honor the God whom they claim to worship]…
And the great dragon was thrown down, the age-old serpent who is called the devil and Satan, he who continually deceives and seduces the entire inhabited world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
Matthew 24:24; 1 Corinthians 10:14-22; 2 Corinthians 4:4; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10; 1 Timothy 4:1; Revelation 2:9; 12:9

A Lament over Zion
1 Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging-place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
3 They bend their tongue, [as it were] their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don't know me, says the LORD.
4 Take you heed everyone of his neighbor, and don't you trust in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.
5 They will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.
6 Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, says the LORD.
7 Therefore thus says the LORD of Hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how [else] should I do, because of the daughter of my people?
8 Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceit: one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lays wait for him.
9 Shall I not visit them for these things? says the LORD; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
10 For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the pastures of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none passes through; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the birds of the sky and the animals are fled, they are gone.
11 I will make Yerushalayim heaps, a dwelling-place of jackals; and I will make the cities of Yehudah a desolation, without inhabitant.
12 Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and [who is] he to whom the mouth of the LORD has spoken, that he may declare it? why is the land perished and burned up like a wilderness, so that none passes through?
13 The LORD says, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein, 14 but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baalim, which their fathers taught them;
15 therefore thus says the LORD of Hosts, the God of Yisra'el, Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
16 I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.
17 Thus says the LORD of Hosts, Consider you, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skillful women, that they may come:
18 and let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.
19 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Tziyon, How are we ruined! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.
20 Yet hear the word of the LORD, you women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth; and teach your daughters wailing, and everyone her neighbor lamentation.
21 For death is come up into our windows, it is entered into our palaces; to cut off the children from outside, [and] the young men from the streets.
22 Speak, Thus says the LORD, The dead bodies of men shall fall as dung on the open field, and as the handful after the harvester; and none shall gather [them].
23 Thus says the LORD, Don't let the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, don't let the rich man glory in his riches;
24 but let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness, in the eretz: for in these things I delight, says the LORD.
25 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will punish all those who are circumcised in [their] uncircumcision:
26 Mitzrayim, and Yehudah, and Edom, and the children ofAmmon, and Mo'av, and all that have the corners [of their hair] cut off, who dwell in the wilderness; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Yisra'el are uncircumcised in heart. — Jeremiah 9 | Hebrew Names Version (HNV) The Hebrew Names Version Bible is in the public domain Cross References: Genesis 27:35; Leviticus 26:32-33; Deuteronomy 28:29; Deuteronomy 28:64; 2 Chronicles 7:19; 2 Chronicles 36:17; Psalm 12:2; Psalm 52:3; Psalm 55:6-7; Psalm 83:10; Psalm 107:34; Psalm 119:136; Proverbs 25:18; Isaiah 1:24-25; Isaiah 10:3; Isaiah 22:4; Isaiah 32:9; Isaiah 41:15; Jeremiah 4:19; Jeremiah 7:28-29; Jeremiah 12:6; Lamentations 3:48; Matthew 9:23; John 3:19-20; Acts 7:51; Romans 1:21; Romans 2:25; 1 Corinthians 1:31; 1 Corinthians 15:34; 2 Corinthians 10:17; Revelation 8:11

im screaming why are all your wip titles bangers
ok u asked me for 3 so i see this as justified. gimme "jiejie's fine! for sure!" (u had to know i would ask about that) and "there's a part of myself i'm missing" pls >:D
i will not ask u about cat angst bc i remember it clearly from the time u killed my grandpa
jiejie's fine! for sure!
the title does not quite fit the tone because, well, there are multiple fic ideas on that doc…the first of which corresponds to the title. (and you've seen quite literally all that was written for that first fic before i realised i had no actual Plot and gave up)
so the real fic on this doc is still jiejie getting hurt. bc ofc. but maybe not quite in that…denial vibe. it's the story of how when jiejie says he killed a wyrm solo at seventeen, he's not lying. but he's maybe not telling the full story. and yes, this is why meiko and viper snicker when spica brings it up in raftf. there's not much written seeing as i am far better at thinking of stories than actually writing them down, but here you go :)
Has Jiejie mentioned how much he hates Devourers yet?
The spikes they constantly make the ground erupt with are annoying enough, but the shrieks that they make—the petrifying screams that make him freeze, even for a split second—Jiejie would do anything to not have to endure those ever again.
(Well, not anything; if he's going to be a Summoner, he's going to have to be able to fight any kind of Void creature, but still. They're annoying. More than just annoying, really, but he's not going to admit that to himself, let alone to anyone else.)
there's a part of myself i'm missing
in which viper realises he's been inadvertently handing over a massive advantage to the ruined summoners thanks to a gift from meiko that he's gotten so used to he forgot he always has it with him. and since it's me, hurt/comfort ensues
(ft scout and showmaker and some more damwon summoners because self-restraint is a long-forgotten myth)
“Scout,” Viper says in a low voice, trying and failing to keep it steady. “Scout, this is a tracker. That—that Meiko has access to.”
Scout pales. “You couldn’t have thought of that before?”
“I’m sorry. I…I didn’t think of it. Not until you brought it up,” Viper says quietly.
“Besides, you’re one to talk about not thinking of things, Scout,” Showmaker interjects.
Scout shoots a withering glare at Showmaker that is only met with a satisfied smirk. “I swear to the gods, Showmaker…”
Showmaker’s grin only widens, and with a huff, Scout turns back to Viper. “Viper, you need to take it off. If he can track our every move—” Scout shudders. “You know what he can do with even the slightest bit of information. We might as well be handing over all our plans,” Scout says.
i'm glad you like the titles i have a lot of fun naming them hehe
and i would HOPE you would remember but i did NO SUCH THING this is SLANDER. LIBEL, IF YOU WILL. LIES. DECEIT.
