Theory on what's happening Timeline-wise in TD High:

We know that Drama Valley is a sequel, canonically. The murders that happened at TD High are mentionned at the very start to have happened five years prior.

However, at the start of the TD High movie, we get pairings and characters from the original TD High being introduced at the same time as Drama Valley characters and pairings. What i think is happening?

I think the movie is a retelling of both TD High and Drama Valley, and outside of possibly the ending is the good universe. Despite the fact that a couple of the characters that died in TD High also die here (no spoilers) and Justin's role is entirely different, in general the kill count is lesser in the movie compared to the original series.

On top of this, Zoey's relationship with Geoff isn't rife with drama in the movie, but is arguably the healthiest one in the entire series. Meanwhile it was the main plotline in Drama Valley, albeit one that ends well.

So i think that TD High was the bad ending for the series characters, but the best ending for the Drama Valley characters, so it evens out into the Good Ending for the movie.

Just. ignore that last scene. And it makes sense.
