The anime-only scene of Lihaku thinking that he should write to Pairin, because it would just be rude to buy her contract without even consulting her, is a really nice touch.

Manga and LN/WN readers already know Lihaku’s “if I cant buy the woman that I love with my own hard-earned money, then can I call myself a man?” iconic line.

But the anime showing us Lihaku being considerate to Pairin’s feelings (yes, bare minimum, but how many buyers do you think even consider consulting the feelings of the courtesans they want to buy? Not a lot)That it’s not only what he wants that is important, but also what Pairin wants?

Not only was he ready to throw hands with Jinshi (when he thought Jinshi was making fun of Pairin), but he was also strong enough to resist temptation, and bold enough to proclaim in front of a high-ranking stranger that he is in love with a courtesan.

Pairin is the type of woman who dreams of prince charming. And Lihaku just proved to us all he is that prince on a white horse for her.

As funny as this week’s episode was, I want to point out that the absurdity of their situation was even higher in the manga.

She is (laughably) kneeling MUCH closer to Lihaku’s groin here—almost looking like she was reaching out for it—making the misunderstanding even more hilarious.

There’s a possibility that they weren’t even allowed to animate her that close to his crotch, because of how obviously sexual it could look. Either way, this scene is a gem, and I laugh every fucking time I see it.
