Another rant cause once again, I’m bored and have a lot of thoughts.

So, the whole Jonerys debacle. Yeah I know, I made a post saying how much I hate this ship, but I wanted to go into more detail.

When Jon and Daenerys first meet, it’s in Dragonstone, and already I had issues. Instead of addressing Jon by his proper title “your grace”, Daenerys calls him “my lord”. Even after Davos corrects her, she still calls Jon “my lord”. And when Jon first comes into the throne room, Missandei addresses ALL of Daenerys’s titles. Now this is nothing new, but to have Daenerys have all her titles spilled and Jon being reduced to a lord even though he’s a King, already the two are not on the same level of status as everyone claims them to be.

Then Daenerys has the audacity to say that the last King in the North was Torren Stark, even though it was clearly ROBB F*CKING STARK. And Jon doesn’t even correct her? C’mon man, you’re better than that. So already, she’s disrespecting his family (and his dead one at that). What a great start😒

I don’t understand why Daenerys believed that Jon should uphold his ancestors vow, while she’s not guilty of her fathers crimes. But yet, her entire claim to the Iron Throne centers around her fathers name.

Jon afterwards makes a good point about why he shouldn’t bend the knee to Daenerys because he doesn’t know her. And it’s true, why should he? He’s never met her, and he doesn’t know if he should trust her. He just wants to mine the dragon glass and get allies. But yet, Daenerys throws a hissy fit because someone isn’t licking her boots or blindly following her.

But nope, a couple of episodes later, Jon bends the knee for some unknown reason. Why? What made him do it? And here’s my second problem with this ship: what does Jon fall in love with?

Is it because Daenerys came to save him beyond the Wall? I’m pretty sure any good person would’ve done that if their so called ally or acquaintance was in danger. Does he fall in love with her strength? Jon has been around plenty of strong women in his life. And more so, Daenerys doesn’t seem like the most “fun” person to be around. It’s not like with Ygritte where you clearly saw Jon laughing and smiling and falling in love. Or with his sisters where he cleared cared for and loved them. With Daenerys, he just looked like he was judging her and giving her stink eye half of the time.

And then there’s boatsex.

Oh god, where do I begin? I’m not saying it was entirely awful, since I got to see Kit Harrington’s beautiful ass, but still. If this was supposed be an epic romance, why didn’t they get a first kiss? Why didn’t we see them exploring each other sensually? Why didn’t we see them smiling at each other? And why didn’t we see any undressing? It just cuts straight into the middle of the act. And the fact that it’s put over Bran saying that they’re related and Jon is the heir the Iron Throne and Tyrion having a not so happy look on his face. Yeah, what a great love story😒

I’m not saying the missionary position is boring, but still. They didn’t even get an afterglow scene where they take in each others presence and look at each other fondly. They just stare at each other in the act and it just looks like Jon is contemplating his life choices. Emilia managed to pull the whole storyline off, but Kit looked like he was fighting it.

As if he was internally agreeing with fans that this in no way fits Jon’s character. Falling in love with someone who enjoys violence and killing (well when it suits her or it’s in her terms. Seriously, when Dany kills, it’s ok. But when someone else does it, she has a problem), while Jon always hated killing (probably the only thing he has in common with Rhaegar aside from being good swordsman)

I’ll be making a second half because this ship gets WAY WORSE in Season 8. And I have ALOT of thoughts. Don’t be surprised if I put a third part for good measure or a bonus part that involves my AU to make myself feel better.

But until then, the tea has been spilled and the pot has been stirred

These will come as NO surprise: House Targaryen, Stark, Velaryon.

2. If you could live during one era in GRRM’s universe what era would it be? (Age of Heroes, Valyrian Empire, Conquest of Westeros, Dance of Dragons etc.)

Argh this one is so tough!!! Knowing I’d most likely be a poor, dumb peasant, all these great eras would just spell misfortune for me, but I’d love to see the Valyrian Freehold at the zenith of its glory with mystery, magic and dragons galore! That being said, I’d have loved to have been around when Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys were conquering Westeros, that would have been quite something to witness (plus I could fangirl madly all over them and Visenya would have to feed me to Vhagar- no regrets though)

3. What is your favorite episode/scene from the Game of Thrones 📺 Series?

Lordy. There are so many amazing scenes and episodes, but I’ll never get over The Battle of the Bastards. Special mentions go to Jon and Sansa’s reunion hug and Jon and Dany rocking the boat!

4. What ruler do you think brought about the most change in Westeros, be it good or bad?

I’m going to say Aerys II, because that old git ended his own dynasty the mad bastard. Not just that, his beautiful, marvellous, sexy, gorgeous, melancholy, bookish, harp playing, sad song singing, beautiful son gave us Jon Snow and his daughter Daenerys Stormborn, of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regent of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons is one of the most brilliant and essential characters in ASOIAF.

5. If you could ask GRRM one question what would it be?

Hi George, huge fan, listen mate, when are we getting The Winds of Winter?

6. If GRRM could write a short novel/series about one other family or historical time (besides the Targaryens) in his universe what would you want it to be about? (My choice would be Nymeria’s Journey!)

Hey not fair! Most likely House Stark or the Valyrian Freehold (tee hee 😉)

7. What was your first introduction to ASOIAF/Game of Thrones? Did someone tell you about it, did you 👀 it online or did you come across it at a store/shop?

My bestfriend told me about GoT when it came out in 2011, so I was lucky enough to get on the train early on. I started the books right after!

8. What’s one thing that bothers you about GRRM’s series?

Dying in childbed. A bit overused George. I know there’s plenty to criticise, but I believe it’s George’s prerogative to write whatever he wants so I won’t get into it too much.

9. What’s one thing you unabashedly 💛 about GRRM’s series?

Those sexy motherfucking Targaryens. I love ASOIAF with every fibre of my being, I love that George has given us such a complex and intricate story with so many colourful characters, the good, the bad, the ugly and everything in between. It’s a privilege and an honour.

10. What are your feelings about the prequel series in development at HBO right now for the Long Night?
