just a quick lil rant before i head to bed
#somethin that’s really bothered me these last few days#i have one irl person that i consider my friend and i hang out with her. but if i wasn’t the one suggesting we go out and do stuff#i don’t think she’d bother with me at all#which. we have fun together. at least i do.#but thinking about this whole year. everything we’ve done has been my suggestion#and it’s not like we’ve hung out every single weekend. she’s had plenty of opportunities to invite me to stuff#but she will blatantly do stuff with her other group of friends then tell me about it#like she mentioned she went and saw the eras movie and was excitedly telling me all about it.#and damn. that’s an experience i would have loved to have.#and she KNOWS i love taylor it’s not like she thought i wouldn’t like going.#she also has openly discussed with her other friend (who is a swiftie) about getting tickets for taylor. right in front of me. ngl it just!?#hurt not to be included i guess!? i mean this isn’t the first time i’ve had a friend openly go to an artist i love with someone who’s not me#idk am i just being stupid and selfish!?#but like. during the summer (a month i was really struggling) i kept on seeing if we could meet up and talk and catch up#before this get together at the end of the month with a few people. and that never turned out she kept on saying she was busy#understandable. but the day of the get together i was chatting with her friend and she mentioned how she and her had hung out like 30 times#that month.#and like i went bowling with said friend last week (it was my suggestion) and we were hanging out and i mentioned how now that our schedules#have opened up id love to get together more - even if she was getting groceries and wanted someone to come along. and she said that yeah#that this week would be good to hang out. and i told her to just contact me. but i highly highly doubt she will text me.#so should i just take the hint and drop her!?#and i live a little farther away but i’m always the one driving to her. idk if that makes a difference but like#idk it’s just the feeling of being expendable and someone’s second choice and never their first#which is a feeling i’ve grown up with so i’m not a stranger to it#but i’ve actually lost sleep over it this last little bit wondering like what it is about me that repels people that makes them not care#like i’ve had girls i’ve loved with my whole fucking heart and would lay down my life for them and i didn’t even make their top 5.#so let’s just say this is an issue that has been hurting me for a while#idk like i’m not trying to sound emo but this kind of hurt and loneliness is just something i have to resign myself to#and face the reality that i’m not as important to people as they are to me sometimes.

Hey, I hope your shoulders doing better :) if you still have room for the arcane prompts, I‘d love to read about The Moon :)
Hey @snowymary thanks for the prompt, this is a continuation of the Only You AU from last week because it wouldn’t leave me alone. Hope you enjoy it :)
The Moon: domesticity, the wilderness, howling, illusion, insecurity
Part I
Brienne had never had a weekend like this in her life. She didn’t even think they were possible for the likes of her.
Her normal weekends were either at home, reading or watching movies, or out drinking with her friends. On occasion, if Hyle was feeling especially romantic after he had been hanging with his friends, they’d go watch a movie the two of them together. It usually was an action movie, which Brienne didn’t dislike but some days he was in the mood for a romantic comedy.
“You don’t like romance, do you?” was what Hyle had said the one time Brienne had brought it up. “You’re not like a girly girl, you know, you play sports and do martial arts and well,” he had looked at her top to bottom, all six feet three inches of her towering over him by half a foot, and that had been the end of the argument. Brienne had not tried to bring it up again, instead watched terrible action movies on romantic dates with her fiancee.
Renly, though, had not made any assumptions since the moment he had met her.
They had spent that first night together, not in a  sexy way though Brienne wouldn’t object to that in different circumstances. Renly was the hottest man alive and her mouth watered just at the idea of kissing him, but she was set to marry Hyle and Brienne didn’t like the idea of cheating.
They had spent the night first in a restaurant, where he had just handed the menu to her and said, “Everything here is amazing, though their crab buns are just to die for.” No comments about her size, no mentions of salad, no judgement when she’d said she didn’t drink alcohol. “Try their homemade cola, then,” he said, his smile not wavering at all.
She’d had to fight for literal years to get Hyle to stop buying her beers when they went out.
They had been kicked out of the restaurant when they were closing and from there they had gone to walk around the beach.
“If you want to go to your hotel, I’ll walk you there,” Renly had offered and Brienne had been too embarrassed to admit she didn’t have one because she technically shouldn’t be there.
“Not yet,” she had said instead. “I’m not tired.”
They had ended laying down on the sand and watching the stars while they chatted about everything and anything. Renly was a lawyer because his father wouldn’t have it any other way, though he liked to design clothes and shoes in his spare time. He had siblings, the downturn of his mouth when he mentioned his sister made Brienne not ask about them anymore. He was rich as a Lannister, the cut and quality of his clothes attesting to that, and as golden as them, and if he hadn’t known her Renly’s surname without her mentioning it, she would have never believed he wasn’t one.
Renly also asked questions and listened while Brienne talked about her life in King’s Landing, where she taught in a school for unprivileged children. They ended up falling asleep on the beach, the warm Dornish night and the exhaustion of the day catching up to them.
In the morning they woke up with sand in their hair, among many other places, Renly’s golden curls in complete disarray. He smiled at her, his green eyes crinkling in the corners, and Brienne knew he really was her soulmate, her heart beating frantically in her chest.
The rest of the day had only made it more obvious. They did the kind of things she had always wanted to do with Hyle but he found boring. They went to a museum, Renly flittered excitedly from exhibit to exhibit.
“I used to read the stories of the age of heroes and the second Targaryen era,” Renly said, his voice filled with awe standing in front of a display of weapons, the spear that was said to have belonged to Prince Oberyn in place of pride among other treasures.
“So did I,” Brienne admitted.
“Who was your favourite? I bet it was the Maid of Tarth,” he said with a smirk, but there was nothing mocking on it.
“And yours, let me guess King Robert?” He was nobody’s favourite though, even if he shared Renly’s surname.
Renly grimaced. “Arthur Dayne, the sword of the morning. That was a real knight!”
They had discussed the legends all the way through the exhibits, and at some point, Renly had taken her hand to pull her aside so some people in a hurry could pass, and then never released it. Brienne had flushed but not removed her hand from his, and when he squeezed it and smiled again at Brienne her heart had expanded three sizes in her chest.
There were some oddities as well, but she had not really paid attention to them. Renly had taken them to a hotel and booked two rooms, though he probably had his own somewhere, after Brienne had finally confessed she didn’t have one. He had also taken them to a restaurant he said was good but turned back the moment the door had opened, saying there were no tables. He’d also been ignoring his phone, which Brienne had felt vibrating in his pocket at some point. He hadn’t even looked at the screen while she was around.
She had been doing the same, except for the quick texts she had sent her father and Hyle telling them not to worry. She knew she had to break the engagement, but she didn’t want to do it by text.
She should have paid more attention to those things, she knew that, but it was impossible to be on her guard when someone like Renly looked at her like she was unique and beautiful. Those kinds of looks had always been reserved for the likes of Sansa, not for big Brienne.
“I want to see you again in King’s Landing,” Renly said. They were sitting in a booth in a Lysseni restaurant, the delicious food spread all over the table, their hands entwined on top of it.
She smiled. “Me too.”
“But I fear that when I tell–”
“There you are, brother,” a sharp voice carried in the restaurant and Renly stiffened, his eyes widening in horror. Brienne thought about the calls unanswered, about the hotel room and about avoiding places, then she remembered his expression when talking about his sister. Brienne saw her when she stopped by their table and shouldn’t have been surprised at how beautiful she was, the resemblance to Renly was astounding. The same golden curls and the same green eyes, a face and body that belonged in movies, though her expression was anything but pleasant. “You’ve been avoiding us all weekend. And for what?” She looked at Brienne and her lip curled in distaste.
“I sent you a message I had met a friend,” Renly said, his tone sharper than Brienne had heard him the entire time.
“Are you going to introduce me to your friend or should I do it myself?”
Renly’s shoulders hunched and he looked at the door. “Brienne, this is my sister, Cersei Baratheon.” He looked at his sister. “Now, happy? Is that Robert waiting for you outside?”
“It’s Lannister.” Cersei’s lips curled in distaste. “You know perfectly well I never changed my name, Jaime.” Renly closed his eyes and dropped his head, his hand clenching around Brienne’s.  That was when the name registered in her mind. Jaime.
She had called him Jaime.

It’s so easy, all you have to do is (not to) fall in love and play the game Roger Taylor x Famous!Reader
SUMMARY: You are a famous actress that casually meets Queen on a night out, ever since then you are inseparable, especially with the handsome drummer Roger.
WARNINGS: mentions of sex, also a little of Brian x reader but not much.
A/N: This is the first time I post one of these here, I hope you like it and do tell me if you want me to write more! I am open for requests. Thanks for reading!
Tumblr media
You’ve met the boys at a bar.
It was their last day London before they went touring in America. You decided to go by yourself because work was stressing you out and you wanted to relax a little.
You were a famous actress, recognized for being pretty much extravagant and weird as the critics would call you, but really talented too, you were a singer her too, but sang mostly in movies and sometimes in musicals. Famous singers like David Bowie would often invite you to their tours and maybe sing with them at their shows.
Freddie found you sitting alone and immediately recognized you, so he quickly made his way towards you.
“Are you by any chance Y/N?” a familiar voice asked you, you turned around only to find the one and only Freddie Mercury standing next to you. you smiled excitedly.
“Yes, that’s me” you answered, the smile never leaving your face “And you must be Freddie Mercury”
“The one and only” he answered with a bow and you smiled, excitement filling your senses.
“I’m a huge fan, really” you started “I’ve followed you since the beginning and you guys are the best”
“I’m honored to heard that darling! I’ve heard so much about you, I always wanted to chat with you”
“I hope good things, though” you said, your happy mood suddenly changed and Freddie noticed “The media comes up with many lies” you took a sip of your drink and Freddie smiled.
“Yeah, they do, I’m familiarized” he said and you smiled.
“Why don’t you join me and the others?” he suddenly asked taking you by surprise
“Really?”
“Of course! The other die to meet you too” you agreed and took your glass, Freddie turned back to the bartender and asked for drinks before taking you towards their table.
Brian and John were laughing at something Roger said and as soon as Freddie came back the three turned to look at you.
“You won’t believe who I found while I asked for drinks” Freddie said
“Is that Y/N?” Brian said, standing up from his seat to greet you properly
“In the flesh” you said and the others stood up as well.
“I am a huge fan” John said, shaking your hand timidly “All your work is truly amazing and honestly your an icon for our era” you smiled.
“Thank you John”
“Wait a second, you know us?” Brian asked
“Of course! I am a huge fan” you admitted and the whole band smiled widely
“It is an honor to finally meet you, love” your eyes finally turned to Roger, e/c eyes meeting a beautiful pair of blues. You have seen Roger in pictures before and you’d be lying if you said he wasn’t hot.
“I can say the same about you” as she shacked his hand a warm feeling traveled from his touch towards her, making her cheeks a faint pink.
Your drinks arrive after the greetings and you all took your seats, you sitting next to Roger
“Y/N is having problems with the media” Freddie said
“Oh really? We haven’t heard” Roger sarcastically said and you laughed
“Yeah, they are full of shit” you took a sip of your drink.
“Don’t listen to them, you really are an inspiration for a lot of people, pretty badass too” Brian added
“Thank you Brian” you said “But don’t worry, I told them that myself”
Roger chuckled and Freddie smirked amused while John and Brian said “Cheers to that” and drank the rest of their drinks.
You were also famous for not taking everyone’s shit, you were nice and kind and always managed to say what you thought freely in a nice way. And though you had a lot of fans and a lot of countries loved you, some magazines talked shit about you, like how you are so rude to people and also kind of a slut, which you are the complete opposite and everyone knew, but there were still stupid people that believed that.
“The second round is on me” you said and the boys cheered.
Once the drinks were refilled Freddie asked for your attention.
“I propose a toast” he raised his glass “For the upcoming tour and new friendships”
“For the upcoming tour and the friendships!” the rest of you cheered and sipped your drinks. Your gaze meeting Roger’s with a smirk as he placed his hand on your thigh.
•••
You groaned opening your eyes “What the hell?” You said as you looked around the strange room.
“You’re finally up”
You were fully awake now, rapidly looking at yourself realizing you were pretty much naked.
Roger appeared with two glasses of water and handed you one, you thanked him and the memories from last night came back like a splash of cold water. You remembered the band, you singing, the drinks, the plane, Roger’s lips as he kissed down towards your… Wait a minute THE PLANE!?
You quickly stood up, ignoring the fact that you were completely naked before the ages of an Stranger an looked out the window
Roger smiled “I didn’t know you liked to be seen” he joked and you’d have laughed if the shock of being on a foreign country wasn’t overtaking your body. Roger thought you were going to faint, and his smile turned into utter shock as he heard you laughing.
“Well, I didn’t expect that reaction”
“Oh my god” you said “I took it really far this time” you continued laughing and Roger joined you.
“You really are a sight right now” He was walking towards you, closing the distance.
You smirked at him “Oh really?” You turned to him crossing your arms across your bare chest “How so?”
He smirked devilishly at you as he grabbed your wrist exposing your chest. “You know…” he started, pulling you closer “Naked with not a care in the world, laughing your ass off in a foreign country not caring about what you left in London”
His hands were starting to caress your skin, his rough hands against your soft skin felt incredibly good and your breath started shaking a little
“That really turns me on” you closed the distance kissing him hungrily He returned the kiss and quickly discarded his boxers, taking you towards the bed.
•••
“Look who decided to show up” Freddie said as you and Roger walked inside the restaurant.
“Had fun last night darling?” Freddie asked you and you smiled
“Yes I did” you smirked at Roger
You toured around America with them and became really close with them afterwards.
You occasionally slept with Roger and with Brian too, not really looking for anything serious until you started having feelings for the blonde. You hates to admit it, knowing Roger. But you couldn’t help but feel jealously every time he found someone new at a bar or at a party.
Or every time he’d bring some other girl to the studio. Freddie obviously noticed before everyone else, Brian and John catching your feelings towards Roger after a few death glances you gave to his last hook up.
Freddie, John and even Brian would try to encourage you to tell him but you’d always ignore them.
You’d usually take your frustration out with Brian, though you knew it wasn’t the best, you still did it.
Roger cheated his last girlfriend with you, and deep down you wanted to feel bad but you didn’t.
Roger was completely aware that you slept with Brian too. He tried to push the anger as far away as he could.
But every time he’d take your blouse off and find dark spots that he was certain he didn’t give you, he’d let the anger take him and fuck you merciless. Sometimes he’d be sweet and slow and other times it’d be hard and sensual.
You obviously noticed his change in behavior and sometimes you’d still think about it as you lay alone on your bed.
It was getting harder each time because he would ask you to do things he normally doesn’t.
Once, he asked you to stay afterwards to cuddle and you declined, saying you had to see Brian. You visibly saw his jaw clench as you mentioned his band mate and your heart raced. You gave him a passionate kiss as a goodbye, one that was obvious he didn’t want to finish but you pulled away and just like that walked out of his apartment.
He was left alone with his blood boiling as he thought of you with Brian. He’d remember you losing yourself beneath him, hands gripping the sheets tightly and chest heaving up and down as you came down from your high. Swallowing the words he meant to say, resisting the desperate need to tell you that Brian would never make you feel like he did, and that he would never love you as he did.
He groaned and decided to call someone else.
•••
“You know, you really have to tell Roger” Brian said as he lit his cigarette
“I can’t” you sighed
“Why not?”
“Because I’m afraid he’ll break me” you admitted
“You know Y/N, you are the strongest woman I know” he sat next to you, pulling you into a hug, his bare chest against your bare back.
“Not when it’s about him” you said “I’m sorry Brian, I feel really shitty doing this with you”
“Don’t feel like that Y/N” he said “You are really amazing”
You smiled and kissed him lightly
“Let’s sleep” he said and you nodded, letting him hold you as guilt flooded your body.
The next day, you arrived with Brian at the studio and as you greeted everyone you obviously noticed the blonde girl sitting next to Roger, anger going through your veins.
“Oh Hi!” You faked happiness “You must be Vanessa, I’ve heard so much about you” you said, throwing a smirk towards Roger’s way and e looked back at you angrily
“No, I’m Sophia” the blonde said, anger lacing her words
“I’m so sorry!” You faked an apology as everyone in the room looked at the scene amused.
“Let’s get to work!” John said, trying to break the tension that had suddenly appeared in the room.
The rest of the day you made it he’ll for Roger and that girl, occasionally calling her other names, knowing exactly that her actual name, and also being clingy towards Brian, noticing Roger’s discomfort.
Freddie and John only laughed. Brian was anxiously waited for Roger to snap and let you continue with your plan.
After a few more hours of this, Roger finally said something “Okay” He abruptly walked towards Sophie “Annie its time for you to go” he said, wincing when he noticed he got her name wrong
“It’s Sophie” she angrily said and walked out with Roger.
As the pair disappeared you bursted out laughing and the rest of the band did too.
“I see what you are doing darling” Freddie said “I like it” you continued laughing
“I’ll step out for a bit, I need some fresh air” you walked out of the room and headed outside, only to find Roger at the end of the corridor walking angrily back.
You smirked and acted innocently
He pushed you against the wall, completely trapping you between his arms “I noticed what you did back there” he said
“Oh really? And what are you going to do?” You sarcastically answered him and he growled, almost capturing your lips with his. But Brian came out and asked Roger to come back inside to continue working.
He growled angrily and you walked away, swaying your hips as he walked behind you.
It was already pretty late and you were starting to feel tired so you decided it was best to say goodbye to everyone and go back to you place. As you said goodbye, Roger was the first to offer you a ride home, and you accepted.
“I guess it’s better if we all go to our homes” John said
“He’s not coming back” they all agreed and walked out.
•••
The car ride was full with tension, and you hated it.
“Why did you do that?” Roger finally said.
“What do you mean?”
“Don’t play the innocent card with me, you know exactly what you did” You stopped breathing, panic taking over your body as you thought of what to do.
“Well?” He looked at you for a moment and then back at the road.
“Because I hate when you bring other girls” you started “And I hate the way you make love to me as if you didn’t have hundreds of girls waiting” you started to feel confident
“I hate that you always make me feel like I’m the only one and I hate more that I’m not” tears were starting to fall down from yours ayes and you angrily whipped them away.
“And what I hate more is that I just can’t hate you” you sobbed “I hate that I can’t stop loving you”
Roger was speechless, looking at you with wide eyes
“I love you asshole” you gasped out, heart racing.
Roger quickly stopped the car, finally arriving at your house.
He grabbed your face and kissed you so slow and sweet that it made you weak. “Thanks for the ride” you said, and the sadness in your voice made Roger wince. You stepped outside and Roger followed you quickly “Y/N wait” he said You turned around, surprised to see him inches away from you.
“I love you too” He managed to let out, the feeling of letting those words out after months making him smile brightly.
You looked at him surprised trying to process everything. The feeling of his lips making you come back to real life and you quickly kissed him back. He opened your door, and as you got inside you quickly made your way towards your bedroom.
As you lay down next to him trying to catch your breath you smiled, looking over at him to make sure this was really happening and as the words “Stay with me” escaped his lips you felt whole and secure, making your way towards his embrace.
He smiled as he felt you relax against him, more relaxed now that he was sure you were his and he was yours.
He fell asleep happily thinking that you’d still be on his arms in the morning.

If you told me even last year that 2020 would reignite the Twilight and The Hunger Games fandoms, I would have thought you were joking.
With the announcement of Midnight Sun (tbh I wish it had been The Host 2) and the release of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, I got to thinking. Memories from my high school years started resurfacing. Going to midnight premiers, reading the books, fangirling with friends over the characters. I started remembering my two best friends at the time, our sleepovers, our hangouts, mid night movie premiers and all the other moments we shared for years.
It’s weird thinking back on those moments, since we’re no longer the best friends we used to be. It’s also kind of sad, and probably a reason why I wasn’t super excited when the news for Midnight Sun first dropped. It’s hard to be super excited for something that you initially shared with two important people at such a formative time in our lives.
My friends that I shared Twilight and Hunger Games with – (I’m going to call them “L” and “K” since they asked me to not use their names but gave me permission to use some photos) – were two of the first people to befriend me when I moved to the states. We grew close quickly and did everything with each other. Unfortunately, we rarely talk anymore, and have grown apart and I think it’s sad and I really wish we hadn’t. But, we’re not here to discuss how friendships can end. We’re here to reminisce about an era that define so many of us, jumpstarted the YA genre as we know it, and brought so many people together.
Tumblr media
So, let’s start with Twilight, since that was popular before Hunger Games.
Twilight was such a formative part of my journey into reading the way I do now. But it wasn’t always. I first heard a friend talking about it in 8th grade. I think that was the first year it really started to gain traction and popularity despite being out for 2 years. I’m pretty sure we were sitting in a US history class, and she was telling me all about this vampire book she was reading, how good it was, and how I should read it.
I turned my nose up at the mention of ‘vampire’ and I’m pretty sure I told her that I wouldn’t read a stupid vampire book.
Boy did I ever eat my own words.
I don’t remember what exactly prompted me to finally pick up Twilight, but I was in 9th grade, it was a long Halloween weekend, and I binge read the entire series. I had my dad make multiple trips to Barnes and Nobles (thankfully there is one right across the street!) to buy each next book, and by the time I was back in school, I’d downed the whole series.
I don’t really remember how my two friends got into the books, I vaguely remember convincing L, and we would go to her house, put a DiGiorno Cheese Stuffed Crust Pizza in her oven, and sit on the floor of her kitchen reading. As for K, I don’t remember how she got into the series, whether it was me, or she picked it up on her own. When we were best friends, she was an avid reader, so she might’ve found it herself. But we bonded and became closer through our love (borderline obsession) with the series. I remember going over to their houses and we would just sit and read the books. We’d print off pictures of the cast from various photo shoots and tape them to our walls. Probably like most teenage girls, we quickly became obsessed. K had this puffy makeup brush that had glitter in the handle, and we’d brush that fine sparkly glitter all over ourselves. At one point, I even swapped out my shampoo for a strawberry scented one.
Tumblr media
Then the movies started coming out. We always bought our tickets early – I still have all of mine.  L, K and I made t-shirts for the first two Twilight movies…okay my mom made them since we just used iron on paper and put pictures of the cast on the front and a quote on the back. We arrived at movie theaters, like 2 hours early to guarantee us good seats – this was before reserved seating, and before 5PM showings the day before, became the new midnight premiers.
We would have photo shoots in the movie theater halls. We would get there so early that they wouldn’t have a designated area for a line, and we were always first. We’d goof off and talk excitedly about the movie.
We were Twihards and we were about to see the movie version of our favorite books. I unfortunately only have 1 photo from the Twilight Premier due to an external hard drive accident in 2010. I’m bummed that any photos we took together were lost, but we more than made up for it at the New Moon premier.
At some point in our Twilight crazed days, K ended up with an Edward doll that would sit on her bookshelf next to a brown paper wolf. My bedroom walls were covered in posters, magazine clippings, and L’s bedroom walls had some drawings a different friend did of the cast. I showed them both HillyWood’s Twilight Parodies (if you haven’t seen them yet, you’re missing out) and we fell deeper into the franchise. Honestly, I don’t want to know wha I spent on Twilight Merch.
Where you Team Edward, or Team Jacob?
I was solidly Team Jacob – I definitely had a crush on Taylor Lautner when I was younger. Though I think I’d prefer to be a vamp if it came down to it. The movies came out each fall of High School, with the final one coming out my first semester of college. That plot twist in the final one – yeah, the whole theater erupted. We would make count downs in our agenda books for the premier. It’s been quite a few years since then, so I don’t remember as much, but my friends and I went and saw all of the premiers – or tried to. We were all at different colleges for the last one, so that made things a little difficult.
Tumblr media
While the Twilight movies were still being released, another series gained popularity. The Hunger Games! I read THG in 2012 and fell in love with the series. It’s another one that I binge read in a weekend. I don’t remember if L and K were as into THG as I was, but I’m a massive sucker for science fiction/dystopian books. So, I devoured this trilogy and fell in love with it.
My memories for this series aren’t as engrained or easy to dig up. These books came to me right as I was finishing high school and the movies premiered while I was in college. While I definitely was swept up in the phenomena that this series created, i didn’t have the same bonding experience with it, with friends. at least not in the way I did with Twilight.
Friends went with me to the premiers – another friend, we’ll call her A, went with me. It was midnight on a school night, she had just performed in a theater production for our high school (hence the face pain in the photo). I think we left that theater around 2 and had to be at school by 7:15am the next morning. That Friday was rough. Really rough. We wore shirts that we had made to the premier – this was back in the days were I actually used puffy paint to design various shirts.
At this point my walls were void of Twilight and had been taken over by new posters. I had the Katniss and Gale posters. Katniss hung on my bedroom door, and Gale hung by my bed. Please don’t judge me lol. I had a few other posters as well. I even taught myself how to French braid, so I could learn how to Dutch braid, just to be able to do Katniss’ braid. I have a mockingjay pin and was even Katniss one year handing out candy. I very well might’ve been more obsessed with THG than Twilight. God, I wanted to be Katniss so badly.
And fun fact, the location set for District 12 in the first movie is in North Carolina – when he was a kid, my grandfather used to go there and play/hang out with friends. Some details of my recollection of his story might be off, but he knew the location that they shot at because he’d been there as a child, having grown up in North Carolina.
Where you Team Peeta or Team Gale?
I had a massive crush on Liam Hemsworth, so I was Team Gale. Now I’m solidly Team Peeta, but younger me was dumb. Peeta is obviously the superior choice, but damn if I don’t still find Liam attractive LOL.
What can I say?
I remember the excitement for each new movie – when the trailers dropped, the new movie posters. I even did portraits of Katniss, Gale and Peeta for a Senior Art Project in high school. My teacher liked it so much that she put it on display for the Senior Art Wall. I had to explain to her multiples times who the faces belonged to, but she liked the study of light and contrast.
Tumblr media
2008-2015 was the time of YA adaptations. Between Twilight, Hunger Games, Divergent, Maze Runner, etc. book nerds had the pick of what they could be obsessed with.
With the release and upcoming release of these two books, it brought back a bunch of memories. Fond memories of good times with friends. Hell, simpler times. There was a different energy back then, everyone came together for a series of books – both were household names. You might not have read the books, but chances were you knew someone who had. I miss the energy of midnight premiers and walking into to school to gush about the series with your friends.
Oaky…maybe not so much the school part but seeing your friends every day.
We get the occasional movie adaptation, or tv show, but there really isn’t that same energy that filled everyone. There really hasn’t been this collective phenomenon since the days of YA dystopia adaptations. I think we’re high time due a resurgence. Vamps are coming back to the genre, outside of this new Twilight book, so, maybe!
I haven’t quite made up my mind if I’m going to read either of these two new releases. I’m kind of over Twilight and don’t really have any desire to revisit it. I’ll forever be grateful for what it did for the YA genre, but I kinda just want to leave my memories as they are. I don’t want to inadvertently tarnish them.
As for the new THG book, I have like zero desire to read about Snow, but people have been really enjoying it, so maybe one day in the future.
So, this post is incredibly long, and if you’ve made it this far, thank you for sticking it out. I guess I got a little lost in remembering good times. It’s funny, I started this post on Tuesday and sat down to write it. I didn’t expect it to be hard or this time consuming. I texted L and K to see if they were okay with me using photos and I actually chatted with K for the first time in a year, maybe? I’d be lying if I said I didn’t really miss them. I miss just being able to talk with them. Then, that night I had a dream that we had gotten together to reminisce about our Twilight days, and when I woke up, I was so disoriented. It felt so real, and then I was in an emotional funk for the rest of the day. But now, it’s taken me hours longer than I thought it would to do this post, due to getting lost down memory lane.
Writing this post was a lot of fun, despite some of the bumps I hit along the way. I think it’s interesting to look back and see where we were when Twilight and/or Hunger Games was a part of our lives. For the most part, it seems like it was a huge part of most readers lives. So, here’s my request to you – think of this whole post as an unofficial tag “tag”- if you feel inclined, share your memories/a memory of how either of these series were a part of your life!
Did you go to premiers? Whose Team were you on? etc.
There are no formal questions – so just write and share whatever you feel like.
I “tag” whoever wants to do this Nostalgia post – and if you do this, please let me know! I’d love to read your posts, see your memories if you include pictures. Let’s reminisce about vampires, werewolves and two tributes who would rather eat berries than be entertainment for the rich.
Nostalgia – Twilight & The Hunger Games Unofficial Tag - what are your memories? #newpost #blogpost #bookpost #bookblog #books #blog #blogger #bloggerswanted #bloggerstribe #bloggingcommunity #bookish If you told me even last year that 2020 would reignite the Twilight and The Hunger Games fandoms, I would have thought you were joking.

Wholesome Again - Tom Glynn-Carney
Request:
hi sweetie, can I request a Tom Glynn-Carney imagine where his girlfriend is a filmmaker traveling around the world and she tells him that she's in South America but she surprises him on set later? please and thanks!
A/N: So this went a bit longer than I expected and I changed a bit the end, I hope you don't mind!
_________
"I think they're calling me, shooting should be starting. I got to go, love." You said sadly at your phone screen, it wasn't hard to feign sadness. You really missed him a whole lot. Still, you now saw the silver lining clearer than ever.
"Yeah, alright. I miss you. Call me afterwards?" Tom asked.
"Oh babe, I'm going to be shooting late and with the time difference and all, I think it might be best if we just talk tomorrow, yeah? Also, I'll probably be tired from today, so I might sleep in and call you a bit later than usual." You said apologetically and he groaned and threw his head back, his Adam's apple more prominent than usual, in a ridiculously attractive way.
"Why did you have to be so brilliant and have an equally brilliant movie to make on another continent?" He sighed and looked sadly at you. "Just try not to fall in love and run away with some ridiculously handsome Brazilian guy." Tom joked and you laughed.
"I won't make promises I can't keep." You joked back and Tom shook his head with a smile on his face. "Unfortunately it seems I may have some problem in my eyesight cuz even though I am surrounded by hot, tanned, muscled, gorgeous Brazilian men--"
"Oi, don't paint the picture too vividly. It's hard enough as it is." Tom interrupted with a pained expression but you didn't stop.
"…somehow I still find you more attractive and handsome than any of them. And even if I didn't I'd still choose you, any day." That brought a smile, a genuine smile, to his face.
"I love you." He said. It was still kind of new to the two of you. You'd said it to each other for the first time in the airport saying goodbyes, it was all a bit too dramatic for the era of smart phones to be completely honest, if anyone had been paying attention to you they'd think you were about to be parted for good. But you were heartbroken that you’d not be with each other for so long, obviously thankful that you could still talk t each other but still shattered about not being able to touch, kiss, hug, cuddle even
"I love you too." You said smiling. "Now I got to go before someone notices that instead of working I am Facetiming with my boyfriend."
"Alright, call me when you can then. I get worried when I don't hear from you." He said almost shyly.
"I will, and don't worry everything is fine, plus we're almost done shooting just another week or so. Goodbye! I love you!" You said and hung up before this conversation could continue, not that you didn't want to talk it's just that you had a flight to catch and you really didn't want to miss it.
When you figured you were ahead of schedule and that you'd be done shooting ahead of time you could not be happier, not that you didn't love your job because you did! And whenever you were doing it you felt amazing and didn’t need anything else but as soon as it stopped and it was time to go home, or to a trailer or hotel actually, it was just as if you missed a piece of you, you missed something, missed home- a lot! Especially Tom. He was kind of home by now, wherever he was you felt complete, wholesome. So, being away from him for this long journey was harsh and at the news that the journey would end one week earlier you excitedly grabbed your phone to tell Tom, but as it was ringing and you waited for him to answer you thought about how much more amazing it would be to surprise him. So you said nothing and booked your flights without him knowing.
11 hours later, 8 of them flying, you were in your beloved England. Almost missing the sunny Brazilian weather but too happy to be seeing Tom to care about any of that. You grabbed your bags and made your way to a taxi and gave him Tom's address, he mentioned he'd probably stay at home for the night. And even if he didn't you kind of liked the idea of waiting for him and him coming home to find you.
You got there and you reached under the third vase in front of the door to find that there was nothing under it.
"Bloody hell, Tom, why did you have to follow my security advice when it's really not the time!" You sighted, what were you going to do now. He was probably asleep at this time of night and if he wasn't you really weren't looking forward to waiting out in the cold for him to return, nor were you too excited to just go home and see him tomorrow. You sighed and grabbed your phone calling Tom. He answered before the second ring.
"Babe? Is everything alright? I thought you said you'd only call in the morning." He said worriedly, his voice still rough from sleep.
"Oh, no sorry to worry you! I just… I remembered I sent you something and I checked and they said it had arrived today, so could you maybe check your doorstep?" You asked knowing it sounding like a crap excuse and hoping his sleepy brain would not catch on.
"Love, it's like 4 in the morning. Do I have to do this now?" He said sounding tired.
"Yeah, sorry. It's just I'm worried about the bad weather and all, it might get ruined or something."
"Alright." He said and you heard him get out of bed with a grunt. "How do you even know the weather is crap?! Are you checking the weather in England from Brazil?" He asked and you could imagine him coming down the stairs.
"It's England, the weather is always crap." You chuckled.
"Fair enough. Have you just finished filming what time is it even in there?"
"Hum… I don't know…" You answered and he laughed.
"What do you mean you don't know? Just check the clock." He said and you were almost certain he should be getting to the door by now.
"I'll do that, just give me a second." You said and as you finished the sentence the door opened and a very sleepy Tom showed up. Confusion registered all over his face and he wasn't sleepy anymore.
"It's about four in the morning." You said smiling and he just laughed really loudly before wrapping his arms tightly around you.
"You're here! I can't believe you're here! You were supposed to be in Brazil being amazing and shooting a mind blowing film." He said quickly and with an almost desperate tone.
"Yeah, that ended yesterday and everything else we'll be doing in here, so… here I am." You chuckled and he chuckled with you. He put his hands on each side of your face and pulled you in for a kiss.
"I missed you so much!" He said as you two broke away. "This was the best surprise I have ever gotten."
