Uhm... so ... my ex?boyfriend that I still live with until he graduates in October (and hopefully goes on to find a job soon so he can move out) is starting to blackpill himself with questionable relationship and men's issues content on yt
and also refuses to sit down and talk about my problems with the kinda content he watches
This worries me.
#I'm not entirely sure how to think about this#he started binging this swiss yt channel about men and their hardships with modern dating#which at first glance i didnt think twice about because sure why not#let this swiss woman with an amazingly soothing voice shine a light on mens issues#sounds good to me they deserve to have their voices heard too#but then i watched one of her videos about mismatched expectations between men and women#and boy#some good opinions here and there#but just as many red flags#like underexplained graphics#very little nuance in some of her takes#loads of generalizations#to me it kinda sounded like bending the data to fit ur thesis#so i told him all the things that worry me about how she uses statistics#and as someone who works data i expected this guy to be a bit more understanding of my issues with her content#but instead i only got a very brash 'ok fine very observant arent we'#as he put his headphones back on to continue watching another one of her videos#then#five minutes later#after nothing but silrnce he just randomly blurts out 'because women are dumb' in a self assured#almost annoyed tone of voice#i was like wtf#and i guess then he realized that i heard#and i was like 'dude imagine me sitting here hearing not a peep from u for a while until u blurt out because women are dumb??'#like what even are u watching that makes u say that#like i get indulging in content that confirms your views and biases once in a while when ur feeling down#but nothing has ever made me say something this blatently immature and hateful about another group#especially if that other group is the entire opposite sex like my guy are u okay????#i wish we could watch these videos together so we can hear each others opinions on her takes in real time and have a proper conversation#but i don't think he'd wanna do that atm & also there's a reason i don't want to be w/ him anymore and this exact attitude is part of it

I would love to hear your Legends Arceus thoughts! I got it a couple months ago and I'm having so much fun with it!
WOUGHHH I LOVE LEGENDS ARCEUS SO MUCHHH the Legends choice was easily one of the best decisions Pokemon has made with its video games in years and I genuinely would LOVE to see them do another one (Legends Unova pleeeease god)--I love this idea of going back to old regions and doing something new with them, new story, new gameplay, new exploration of this vast world theyve had cooked up for over a decade. And new POKEMON!! I really enjoy like all of the Hisuian Pokemon theyve added...The concept of making regional variants for older gen regions RULES, and I love how this game gives some lovin to some lackluster older 'mons by giving them evolutions that SHRED LIKE HELL. OVERQWIL. SNEASLER. URSALUNA MY BELOVED.
(also, regional variant starter evolutions is SUCH a phenomenal idea and I wanna see it again so bad!! Hisuian Samurott legitimately my new all time favorite water type. He's perfect)
when I was a kid I was really into exploring DPP's legendary lore and having my self insert OC hang out with Sinnoh legendaries and a lot of PLA's everything really just makes me feel so soft and nostalgic... game middle schooler me would have gone Absolutely Insane for. I love the story and the characters, Pokemon is really gettin good at Characters these past few games--even when the actual game is weaker the charaters still feel very memorable and fun. I love you Cogita my beautiful wife Cogita. And Like. My God. There is SO much lore tucked in that game that I wish it made more of an effort to tip you off towards, shit i'm only just learning RECENTLY, hidden tidbits extremely off the map and underexplained. It is very very cool and I hope if they do another Legends game there's more secrets to unearth. Cuz that's like, probably one of my favorite aspects of the game is just...wandering around the map, sightseeing. I get why some people feel like the maps are kind of empty but I honestly don't mind it very much...it's peaceful. I like just scurrying around looking at things, listening to the world.
also on that note: god the music is fantastic. I love the way this game approached the motifs and music from Diamond and Pearl, all the tracks in PLA kick so much ass and/or Unlock a Tremendous Sense of Nostalgic Tenderness Within Me. The Lake Theme is one of my favorites; when the motif from the DPP original version kicks in i get a little misty eyed i must admit... (also the Late Night Field Theme. holy shit. the first time i heard it i got CHILLS. OUGH.)
It's not a perfect game of course, the Getting a Little (A Lot) Playfully Colonialist inherent to the Galaxy Corps and their place in Hisui is. not fantastic.😬 And it's got little bugs and glitches and graphics that could have used another year in the oven. But damn if it's not some of the most fun I've ever had with a Pokemon game. it really feels like a weirder older spinoff game, like something that woulda come out in gen 5, but it actually gets classed as a mainline series game and i love that about it.
And i hope you continue to have fun with it!! The late game stuff is really a treat imo. So much great OST tracks headed your way :3c i Really need to go back into PLA myself and actually complete my dex and battle Arceus but time keeps running away from me....one day. i will get back in there. I'm very fond of Hisui ;__;
heres a picture of my H-Samurott plush his name is Kaiser and he's my friend ❤

Donnie Darko (2001)
So I’m a little confused, because when I was a young kid I believed this to be a great movie, one of the best of all time, something that had some kind of significance in film history, and some kind of brilliance that made it profound or something.
Well, now I’m 28 and I’m confused at what anyone sees in this movie.
Before I go any further, let me recognize that this is a cult movie, and it’s bold and it’s daring and, so sure, there’s a bit of value in that.  Jake Gyllenhaal carries his role well, even if his facial expressions can get a little annoying at times.  And the overall world-building and surreal suburbia vibe it’s going for is definitely realized on screen.  But outside of that it’s certainly not as brilliant of a film that I was led to believe when I watched at 15 years ago. It’s so weird, and not weird in a good way, it’s more like... weirdness for weirdness sake.
Donnie Darko is random, mundane and frankly (no pun intended) convoluted.  It has clear influences in David Lynch’s weirdness, so it’s not as original as I thought it once was either.  It is as what The Boondock Saints is to Tarantino films:  A pale imitation.  It’s got shades of Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, but with this super strange darkly comic tone that I didn’t realize when I was younger.  It seems like sort of a precursor to the weird comedy of Napoleon Dynamite, that’s how random the comedy is in this movie. Then it tries to wrangle a thin high school drama around its surrealist and sci-fi and comedic elements.  It’s a grab bag of influences and elements and it barely holds together IMO.
My biggest problem with this whole movie is how much time seems to be spent on random shit.  Most of the characters and dialogue seem pointless and doesn’t really add up to anything.  The core dialogue/plot is around Donnie and Frank is probably like an hour long, if that.  That means there’s an extra hour padding - watching Donnie Darko’s little sister’s dance group, or watching cheesy 80′s style self help videos.  Things of that nature.
And the huge question I have is - why should we even fucking care about any of this shit?  Like, I literally don’t care about Donnie Darko whatsoever.  He’s an asshole of a character who cusses out his mom, his teachers and anyone he disagrees with.  And this wormhole/time travel bullshit?  It’s not even interesting!  These graphics look like they were made in Microsoft Paint, and the whole concept seems underexplained and underutilized.
To be quite honest? I’m not a fan of movies that are puzzling and open ended due to lack of information.  Not saying I need to be spoonfed, but I don’t want to debate the meaning of a movie or have different interpretations.  I want to see one interpretation executed to its fullest potential.
What I took from it is that he had to go back in time and kill himself so that he could save Gretchen’s life or whatever.  I’m not sure what that has to do with the impending apocalypse or whatever the hell Frank is telling us about.  And I guess all these little events like the flooding of the school and the arson of the guy’s house is supposed to place events “just so” in order to lead Donnie to Grandma Death’s house so Gretchen can get run over by a car so he can realize that he needs to go back in time and die so he can save her?  Like I said, convoluted. Every time travel movie seems to have that problem with logic of how it all works though.
The soundtrack is amazing though.  Echo and the Bunnymen/The Church/Duran Duran/Tears For Fears/Joy Division and that fucking Gary Jules cover is on the money!
That’s all I got, thank you.
