"Beneath the Light of Jadeite" Version 1.5 Update Details (I)

Dear Travelers,

Below are the details of the Version 1.5 update "Beneath the Light of Jadeite" and the update compensation.

〓Compensation〓

Maintenance Compensation: Primogems ×300 (60 Primogems per hour the servers are down)

Issue Fix Compensation: Primogems ×300 (please refer to the relevant compensation mail for more details)

〓Eligibility〓

Maintenance Compensation: All Travelers who have reached Adventure Rank 5 or above by 2021/04/28 06:00 (UTC+8)

Please claim before the end of Version 1.5.

Issue Fix Compensation: All Travelers who have reached Adventure Rank 5 or above by 2021/04/28 06:00 (UTC+8)

Please claim the compensation before 2021/05/01 06:00 (UTC+8) .

Our developers will distribute compensation to Travelers via in-game mail within 5 hours after the update maintenance is finished. The mail will expire after 30 days, so don't forget to claim the attached compensation in time.

〓How to Update Game Client〓

PC: Close the game, open the Genshin Impact Launcher, and click Update.

iOS: Open the App Store and tap Update.

Android: Open the game and follow the directions on-screen.

PS4: Highlight Genshin Impact from the PS4 Home Screen, press the OPTIONS button and select "Check for Update."

〓Update Details〓

I. New System

New System: Serenitea Pot

◇ Adepti use Serenitea Pots as media through which they can channel their adeptal power and create realms and abodes.

As the owner of this realm, you may decorate it however you wish and turn it into a home away from home.

After using and summoning the Serenitea Pot, you can interact with it and enter the abode within.

You can also use and summon the pot while you are within its confines. Interacting with the Serenitea Pot in this state will allow you to leave it.

You can also directly open the map interface and fast travel to any of the Teleport Waypoints to immediately leave the Serenitea Pot.

Teapot Spirit

A spirit that lives inside the teapot. It is said that she was created by the adepti themselves. She looks after many matters within the realm, serving as a butler of sorts.

Trust Rank

As you create more furnishings for the first time, the teapot spirit's Trust in you will increase. Accumulate Trust to increase your Trust Rank.

Increasing Trust Rank will unlock features for the Serenitea Pot or allow you to obtain various rewards.

Adeptal Energy

The amount of Adeptal Energy within the realm will gradually increase along with the number of furnishings placed.

Once a new Adeptal Energy Rank is reached, the realm's output will also increase.

Creating

You can obtain the materials required to create furnishings in many different ways, all around Teyvat.

While visiting your friends' realms, you can also assist them in creating furnishings by reducing their creation time.

You can provide assistance to multiple friends each day, but the same person cannot be assisted twice.

Realm Depot

You can use Realm Currency in the Serenitea Pot to exchange for items of your choice.

During the Teapot Traveling Salesman's visits, you can also enter other realms to exchange with Salesmen within them for desired items.

II. New Characters

5-Star Character "Dance of the Shimmering Wave" Eula (Cryo)

◇ Vision: Cryo

◇ Weapon: Claymore

◇ The Spindrift Knight, a scion of the old aristocracy, and the Captain of the Knights of Favonius Reconnaissance Company. The reason for which a descendant of the ancient nobles might join the Knights remains a great mystery in Mondstadt to this very day.

◆ Tapping Eula's Elemental Skill "Icetide Vortex" deals Cryo DMG and provides Eula with the Grimheart effect. Holding her Elemental Skill consumes all the stacks of Grimheart and deals AoE Cryo DMG to opponents in front of her. When the Grimheart stacks are consumed, surrounding opponents will have their Physical RES and Cryo RES decreased. Each consumed stack of Grimheart will be converted into an Icewhirl Brand that deals Cryo DMG to nearby opponents.

Eula's Elemental Burst "Glacial Illumination" deals AoE Cryo DMG and creates a Lightfall Sword that follows her around. After this, when Eula's own Normal Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst deal DMG to opponents, they will charge the Lightfall Sword. Once its duration ends, the Lightfall Sword will descend and explode violently, dealing Physical DMG that scales on the number of energy stacks the Lightfall Sword has accumulated.

*"Dance of the Shimmering Wave" Eula (Cryo) will be available in a future event wish.

4-Star Character "Wise Innocence" Yanfei

◇ Vision: Pyro

◇ Weapon: Catalyst

◇ A well-known legal adviser active in Liyue Harbor. A brilliant young lady in whose veins runs the blood of an illuminated beast.

◆ Yanfei's Normal Attack has a Scarlet Seal effect. While Scarlet Seals are present, Yanfei's Stamina consumption is decreased. A Charged Attack consumes all Scarlet Seals, with the AoE and DMG of the attack increasing according to the amount of Scarlet Seals consumed.

Yanfei's Elemental Skill "Signed Edict" deals AoE Pyro DMG. Hitting opponents with the flames grants Yanfei the maximum number of Scarlet Seals.

Yanfei's Elemental Burst "Done Deal" deals AoE Pyro DMG, granting Yanfei the maximum number of Scarlet Seals and applying the Brilliance effect to her. While Brilliance is in effect, Yanfei's Charged Attack DMG is increased and she is granted a Scarlet Seal at fixed intervals.

*In the event wish "Gentry of Hermitage," "Wise Innocence" Yanfei (Pyro) will receive a huge drop-rate boost!

III. New Equipment

▌ New Weapon

Song of Broken Pines (5-Star Claymore)

◆ A part of the "Millennial Movement" that wanders amidst the winds. Increases the wielder's ATK. When Normal or Charged Attacks hit opponents, the character gains a Sigil of Whispers. This effect can be triggered once every 0.3s. When you possess 4 Sigils of Whispers, all of them will be consumed and all nearby party members will obtain the "Millennial Movement: Banner-Hymn" effect for 12s. This effect increases Normal ATK SPD and ATK. Once this effect is triggered, you will not gain Sigils of Whispers for 20s. Of the many effects of the "Millennial Movement," buffs of the same type will not stack.

▌ New Artifacts

Tenacity of the Millelith (4-Star and 5-Star)

◇ 2-Piece Set: HP is increased.

◇ 4-Piece Set: When an Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the ATK of all nearby party members is increased and their Shield Strength is increased for 3s. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s. This effect can still be triggered even when the character who is using this artifact set is not on the field.

Pale Flame (4-Star and 5-Star)

2-Piece Set: Physical DMG is increased.

4-Piece Set: When an Elemental Skill hits an opponent, ATK is increased for 7s. This effect stacks up to 2 times and can be triggered once every 0.3s. Once 2 stacks are reached, the 2-set effect is increased by 100%.

◆ Obtain artifacts in the above sets from Ridge Watch, the new Domain of Blessing at Bishui Plain.

IV. New Domains

New Domain: Ridge Watch

Standing proudly over the start of the ridge, these ancient city ruins overlook both north and south, both mountain and river, like a boundary marker. Legend has it that its gates and blessings are only open to those whose hearts are lit with an eternal blaze.

◆ Obtain artifacts in the "Tenacity of the Millelith" and "Pale Flame" sets from Ridge Watch, the new Domain of Blessing at Bishui Plain.

New Trounce Domain: Beneath the Dragon-Queller

What secrets are hidden in this domain...?

The new Trounce Domain, Beneath the Dragon-Queller, has been added to the Nantianmen area.

◆ Unlocked after completing Zhongli's Story Quest "Historia Antiqua Chapter: Act II - No Mere Stone."

After updating to Version 1.5, there will be three opportunities to halve the Original Resin cost when claiming rewards from Trounce Blossoms in Trounce Domains and the "Lupus Boreas, Dominator of Wolves" challenge (after the V1.5 update – 2021-05-03 04:00:00. The number of opportunities resets every Monday at 04:00 (Server time).

Travelers should complete the update to V1.5 first before completing the relevant challenges for the week April 26 – May 2.

V. New Monsters

1. Cryo Hypostasis

◇ Elemental creatures who protect themselves from incoming attack with their durable shell. Find an opportune moment to land a blow to their elemental core. At critical moments, they will enter a shielded regenerative state, firing Frostfruits to attack its foes while restoring its own HP. Use Charged Attacks to redirect the Frostfruits back at the Cryo Hypostasis to knock it out of its regenerative state swiftly.

Located at Entombed City - Outskirts

2. Azhdaha

◇ An enormous dragon as ancient as the mountains themselves.

In an age that has all but faded from memory, he stood shoulder to shoulder with one who ruled over a harbor of stone. But in the end, the two came into conflict, and the dragon was banished to a dark place deep underground. Over the long years of his imprisonment, his power has slowly dissipated. He has also become disfigured from the various kinds of erosion he has been subjected to.

The faint rattling of this dragon lord's shackles and his deep, angry growl echo through the bowels of the mountains like memories of a bygone era.

Located at Nantianmen

3. New Elite Monster: Abyss Lector - Violet Lightning

◇ A creature of the Abyss Order that calls upon thunder and lightning in praise of the darkness.

It possesses some ability to disrupt elemental powers, and some of its attacks will drain characters' Elemental Energy when dealing DMG to them.

In Version 1.5, the Abyss Lector: Violet Lightning will only appear in the Spiral Abyss.

VI. New Event: Energy Amplifier Initiation - Take part and exchange for "Kätzlein Cocktail" Diona (Cryo)!

◇ In an effort to gather and research Irminsul Fruit Fragments, Sumeru researcher Hosseini has entrusted a mysterious ancient relic to you for a time: the Energy Amplifier. Help Hosseini to gather Irminsul Fruit Fragments and unleash their power with the Energy Amplifier.

◆ Event Gameplay Duration: 2021/04/30 10:00:00 – 2021/05/17 03:59

◆ Eligibility: Adventure Rank 20 or above

▌ Places of Interest

During the event period, go to Places of Interest and defeat the opponents there to gather Irminsul Fruit Fragments and obtain Fractured Fruit Data.

▌ Domains

During the event period, successfully challenge Domains to obtain Fractured Fruit Data.

▌ Twisted Realm

During the event period, challenge the Twisted Realm and get as high a score as you can. Reach a combined score of certain amounts to claim Fractured Fruit Data.

※ After the event gameplay period ends, you will be unable to claim the combined score rewards for the Twisted Realm. Please make sure to claim the rewards in time.

◆ Unlock Criteria:

• Adventure Rank 26 or above

• Completed the Archon Quest "Chapter I: Act III - A New Star Approaches"

• Achieved all endings in Noelle's Hangout Event "Act I: Chivalric Training"

3. New World Quests

◆ Adds World Quests related to the Serenitea Pot: "A Teapot to Call Home: Part I" and "A Teapot to Call Home: Part II"

◆ Quest Unlock Criteria:

• Adventure Rank 35 or above

• Completed the Archon Quest "Chapter I: Act III - A New Star Approaches"

Complete the World Quest "A Teapot to Call Home: Part I" to obtain the gadget "Serenitea Pot."

○ Dream Solvent: An item capable of changing Character Level-Up Materials obtained from memories and trials into whatever form is needed.

Obtain by successfully completing the Trounce Domain or Dominator of Wolves challenges.

○ Transient Resin: An item that can be used to replenish Original Resin. Once used, it will replenish 60 Original Resin. Once obtained, it will automatically dissipate after a period of time.

·The expiration time will be calculated from the Monday after this item is obtained, and it will disappear seven days from then.

·Multiple Transient Resins obtained on different weeks will have their expiration dates counted independently.

○ Vial of Adeptal Speed: A small bottle that seals some adeptal energy within. Will immediately complete a furnishing when used.

○ Sanctifying Unction: Artifact EXP material. Gives 2,500 EXP.

○ Sanctifying Essence: Artifact EXP material. Gives 10,000 EXP.

5. New Achievements: "A Realm Beyond: Series I," "Memories of the Heart," etc.

6. New Namecards

○ Celebration: Fruit of Wisdom - Obtained from the "Energy Amplifier" event.

○ Celebration: Peekaboo! - Obtained from the "Windtrace" event

○ Yanfei: Impartial - Obtained when Yanfei's Friendship Level reaches 10.

○ Eula: Ice-Sealed - Obtained when Eula's Friendship Level reaches 10.

○ Travel Notes: Sub-Space Recreation - Obtained from the Battle Pass system

○ Achievement: Tea Time - Obtained by completing all achievements under "A Realm Beyond: Series I."

7. Spiral Abyss:

○ Floor 11 Ley Line Disorders changed to:

• Your character will be periodically inflicted with Slowing Water, greatly increasing your skills' CD duration until the inflicted Hydro element is removed.

• Physical DMG dealt by all party members increased by 75%.

○ Updates the monster lineup on Floor 11 of the Spiral Abyss.

○ Updates the monster lineup on Floor 12 of the Spiral Abyss.

Starting from the first time that the Lunar Phase refreshes after updating to Version 1.5, the three Lunar Phases will be as follows:

○ Phase 1: Blade-Dance Moon

When a character scores consecutive hits on an opponent with Normal Attacks within 2s, this character's Physical DMG is increased by 5% for 10s. This effect stacks up to 5 times, and only 1 stack is added at a time regardless of how many enemies are hit in one strike. When 5 stacks have been obtained, further hits on opponents will unleash shockwaves that deal AoE DMG. A shockwave can be created in this manner once every 1s.

○ Phase 2: Thorny Moon

A backlash will occur when opponents hit a character protected by a shield, unleashing a shockwave that deals AoE DMG. Can occur once every 6s.

○ Phase 3: Rebellious Moon

When a character scores Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack hits that deal Physical DMG to opponents, this character's CRIT Rate is increased by 3% for 10s. This effect stacks up to 5 times, and only 1 stack is added at a time regardless of how many enemies are hit in one strike. When 5 stacks have been obtained, CRIT Hits on opponents will unleash shockwaves that deal AoE DMG. A shockwave can be created in this manner once every 1s.

● System

1. The new Mail Pins function has been added. Pinned mail will be placed at the top of your mail list and will not be deleted when pressing Delete Read. However, pinned mail will still expire as normal.

2. On mobile, UI Border Offset setting has been added to Settings > Controls.

● Audio

1. Adds voiced interactions for characters in the open world.

2. Adds a Compatibility Mode option for the audio API on Android devices. Try switching to this mode if you experience any of the following issues:

Distorted sound (electrical noise) from your device, failure to switch between left and right audio channels, screen recordings do not capture audio, screen recordings feature distorted audio, difficulty switching to and from earphones when plugged in/removed, electrical noise through Bluetooth earphones.

3. Adds Japanese voice-over for certain characters.

4. Due to unforeseen circumstances, in English, the voice of Diona in Diona's Hangout Event is temporarily provided by Jackie Lastra.

Febuwhump 2021: Day 27, “You have to let me go”

AO3! Well, this has been a ride! Febuwhump has been very fun for me, and I’ve written so much more than I usually do! Very confidence boosting. I’ve got a good few plans and ideas I want to write (hopefully some more uplifting/longer fics) and I’ve also been keeping a record of my fic writing process for this month, including inspirations and scrapped ideas, which I’ll probably be posting over the next few days! Hope you enjoyed these fics!

His library is burning. His library is burning, and his fiancés— husbands now, he kept forgetting— were lying dead in front of him. They weren’t the only ones who had died. Even Technoblade, the ‘blood god’ who never died had fallen, after the angel of death had been shot down.

Where did it all go wrong? He was meant to fix it, wasn’t he? Learn from the glimpses of the past and future that he’d seen, learn how to stop this from happening. What did he mess up?

He felt that familiar tug in his gut, and opened his eyes to the strange whiteness of the Inbetween. He feels a glimmer of hope— the other times he’s visited this strange castle have been all after his trips through time, could what he just experienced have been another glimpse into a future he had to stop?

He wandered through the halls, until he spotted something that made him halt. A single block of blackstone among the quartz walls. He stepped toward it to investigate, and saw another. Then another. He followed the trail, until he found a door he had never seen before, tall and intimidating, built with blackstone and obsidian. He stepped through.

Inside, he found a room, a mix of quartz and blackstone, and in the middle stood Dream. Wait, was he seeing double? There were two Dream’s standing in the room. He could see differences between the two though. One was the Dream he knew, standing on the other side of the room, a quartz door behind him. The other…

The other Dream was standing in the centre of the room, floating slightly above the ground. He wasn’t wearing armour either, when Karl knew no-one had seen Dream without his netherite armour after his time in the Vault, not even Puffy. The other Dream turned to face him suddenly, and he noticed another difference. Instead of the smiley face mask Dream wore constantly, the other Dreams had a mask with XD on it.

“Oh you’re finally here!” the other Dream— XD, Karl named him inside his head— said, glee obvious in his voice. He flew around quickly, circling Karl. “Now you’re here, we can finally get started!”

“Started with what? What is this? Who are you?” he asked, confusion clear in his voice.

“The ending of course! Or a new beginning! It depends on how you look at it! Call me XD, I’m this server! You’re probably wondering why I look like Dream, right? Well it’s his server, why wouldn’t I look like him?”

“That makes sense… but wait, new beginning? And why am I here? Why is Dream here?”

“Uh, also why am I here?”

The three people in the room all turned to look at the fourth, Ranboo looking nervously from the corner, blending in with the black and white decor of the room remarkably well.

“Allow me to explain!” XD exclaimed. “You three are here because you’re all… special in the same sort of way. Future, Present, Past” he pointed to Dream, Ranboo, and finally Karl as he spoke. He kept pointing at Dream as he spoke again.

“You’re Future, always looking ahead, but you let yourself get caught up in memories, trying to make the future your past.”

He pointed at Karl.

“You’re Past, looking to what’s come before in hope of changing the future, but not taking the action you really needed to when it mattered most, too afraid of the futures you saw.”

Finally, he pointed at Ranboo.

“You’re Present. Looking at the past without the haze of nostalgia blocking your view, looking to the future with a realistic eye. You were caught up in paranoia and denial and didn’t acknowledge what was right in front of you.”

Ranboo held that small journal he always seemed to have on him to his chest.

“That sort of makes it sound like we all failed…”

XD tilted his head to a distinctly non-human angle.

“Oh you did. You all failed. That’s why this has to happen. The Reset.”

He noticed their confusion at the term.

“Everything will be wound back. An untouched world. No buildings, no equipment, no memories. You three will remember though.”

“It’ll be… it’ll be back exactly how it was at the start?” Dream spoke up for the first time.

“Hmmm, no” replied XD. “There’s been changes. Evolution. Things you’ve never seen before. Things you have seen, but different. That’s how it always is.”

“What’ll happen to you then?”

“Well I’ll be different as well. Maybe I’ll remember this, maybe I won’t. This world has never been through a change like this before.”

“But I don’t—”

“You have to let me go, Dream. All of you do.”

XD waved his hand, and the ground beneath him fell away, revealing a pit, with a glittering portal at the bottom.

“Once you jump in, you’ll find yourself in the new world, with everyone else. Memories, relationships, deaths, all of them will be erased. A fresh start.”

“What about the old world?” Karl asked.

XD was silent for a moment.

“It’s already being destroyed.”

The three looked at each other and came to their decision wordlessly.

Dream jumped first, then Ranboo, and finally, after one last look at XD, Karl leapt into the portal.

“Hi, my name is Karl. You guys are Sapnap and Quackity, right? Nice to meet you!”

,,Oh dear, Jumin, you scared me!’’ you giggled and kissed him.

How to make multiple connections?

AnyDesk can run an unlimited amount of sessions from a device as long as resources allow. AnyDesk also can run several instances on a device. The Professional license allows for as many sessions as ordered and Power license enables unlimited sessions for the number of active devices ordered.

Can I transfer files with AnyDesk?

How to connect automatically

The speed dial (background icons under the 'Connect'-button) displays recent connections. Click on the client you want to connect to. There is no need to type the ID each time. The entered password for unattended acces can be saved IF the option has been enabled at the remote client side below the 'set password' option. You can even create a shortcut on the home screen by clicking/touching the overflow menu (downward arrow) next to the machines address, then 'Drop to desktop'.

Why is there an orange question mark next to my cursor?

If AnyDesk can't fetch a cursor from the remote device, e.g., if you're connecting to a Windows Server without a mouse cursor connected, AnyDesk will display this static cursor as default.

Can another user connect to me via Browser or my website?

How to work with dual monitors / multiple displays?

Remote displays are indicated by separate tabs in the session window. Switch between the monitors by clicking on a corresponding tab. To get separate windows for each monitor, (available only if your license supports simultaneous sessions), establish two sessions with a remote device and set each to another display. To get multiple sessions in fullscreen mode, switch from D3D-Rendering to OpenGL or DirectDraw.

Anydesk Personal Use Limitation

Unexpected session ends, disconnects, session interrupts after a certain time

Sessions may end unexpectedly for various reasons. If you encounter interruptions after a specific amount of time into the session, go to Settings and switch to the Connections tab. Disable direct connections.You may also setup a listening port in your firewall for AnyDesk in the Security Settings.

Anydesk Personal Use Limitations

Why do I have to type the unattended password/login information/authorization manually for a specific client?

The remote client must allow the option to save his login information. See Unattended Access

I cannot connect, because the request was 'blocked/rejected by the AnyDesk settings'.

If a client has an ACL-List (Whitelist) active that your ID/alias doesn't match, or if your interative access settings are set to disabled or don't allow connections in the background, then you'll get a message, telling that your request has been rejected. See Security Settings and adjust the settings on the remote client.

I cannot use AnyDesk for controlling Security/AntiVirus Software

Some applications are protected from external modification. Disable this feature locally in the settings, in order to get access from remote.

Can't get a session window, AnyDesk says: Waiting for Image

On Android: Make sure to give AnyDesk permission to record the screen. The first session request spawns the permission window. If not properly addressed, open Android settings - Apps - Choose AnyDesk - grant permissions.

If this doesn't fix the issue, a headless display adapter will help, this will force your system to render the image.

Synchronization of the clipboard is not working

Check permissions. AnyDesk might have to be installed on the remote side.

Denied mouse cursor/no input on window

Permissions missing: Is displayed when AnyDesk does not have permission to control a selected application. In this case, install

AnyDesk or launch it as an administrator on the remote client. Professional license users

With the release of the original SpotCam all the way back in 2015, we saw one of the only Wi-Fi home security cameras to offer free 24-hour cloud recording, but it was mired by security issues that left user video feeds wide open to the world. With those addressed, the Spotcam Eva 2 is here, and it still includes free could recording as well as some excellent new features like pan and tilt, motion tracking, two-way audio, and integration with Alexa and Google Assistant—all for only $49.00. Can MySpotCam earn your trust back?

Inside The Box

The front of the box boasts the camera’s stand-out feature, Wi-Fi Human Tracking, as well as letting you know right away that the SpotCam Eva 2 works with IFTTT, Conrad Connect, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant.

You will also see that it includes full-time continuous cloud recording that is free forever, albeit in a somewhat limited capacity.

Taking a look inside the box, we are immediately presented with the device itself as well as a QuickStart guide. Digging deeper you will see another small box with the power adapter and some mounting hardware, which allows you to mount the camera upside down. You can also mount the SpotCam to the wall, however, I would not recommend this as you will lose some of the camera’s field of view.

A Design Fit For Any Décor

The SpotCam Eva 2 is relatively small and would look nice in most homes. However, it only comes in white at this time. It would be nice if it came in black as well to fit in with more décor options and be more easily hidden. The front has a SpotCam logo and an activity LED, but we'd prefer the logo to be hidden around the back. You can disable the activity LED in the app.

The speaker can also be found on the back, as well as a reset button, and a micro-USB connection for power. The choice of micro-USB is a curious one in a world where most devices are swapping over to USB-C, but an appropriate cable is included. On the underside, you'll find a rubberized circle that keeps the SpotCam Eva 2 securely in place.

Easy App Setup

Setting up the SpotCam Eva 2 is relatively easy. There is a quick start guide included, but you must have Wi-Fi; a smartphone, tablet, or PC; and internet access. Plug the included power adapter into the wall and the micro-USB cable into the back of the SpotCam. The cable provided is extremely short at just over three feet long. For a device intended to be placed around the home or even on the ceiling, not including a longer cable seems like a huge oversight. You may need to order a longer USB cable depending on where you want to put the camera, but if you happen to lose the included power adapter you can use any standard 5V charger.

If you are using a PC or Mac, you will need to go to MySpotCam.com and download the installer. If you are using a tablet or smartphone, you just need to download the SpotCam app and choose Add SpotCam, and then follow the instructions. You will also need to sign up for an account if you don't already have one.

Once the camera is connected, the first thing I recommend doing is going into the settings and finding the SpotCam NVR-1 option at the bottom. This is where you will sign up for the free 1-day cloud recording plan. It is not on by default. You can also pay for 3-day to 30-day cloud recording depending on your needs.

Cloud Storage Costs

The free 1-day cloud recording plan is undoubtedly a big selling point of the SpotCam 2 Eva, but it's worth bearing in mind that there's no alternative if you don't want cloud recording. The camera doesn't have an SD card slot, so there is no local recording. You'll be able to view the live feed, but you will not be able to see past motion events or record any footage. Even with the free plan, the footage is only available for 24-hours. If you need to keep the footage for any reason, you need to download it from within the app, and do so quickly before it's lost forever.

If you require additional cloud storage you can purchase 3-day retention for $3.95 per month, 7-days for $5.95 per month, or 30-days for $19.95 per month. They also offer yearly options which will save you some money, but clearly, that's a hefty subscription for one camera.

Whether or not you like the cloud storage option will depend on your needs. Local storage is cheaper in the long run, but if an intruder steals the camera too, you'll lose all the footage. On the other hand, perhaps you don't want intimate footage of your household sitting on a server somewhere.

In addition to the cloud storage plans, SpotCam also offers some additional AI features. These include face recognition, baby crying detection, human detection, pet detection, fall detection, and a few others, but again these are all an extra monthly subscription on top of the cloud storage cost. It quickly adds up.

Image Quality

The camera feed quality is good, especially at this price, recording at up to 1080P Full HD. The picture is clear with good colors and dynamic range, and an 8X optical zoom means you can focus in on an area without losing clarity.

The camera does have a night vision mode if there is not enough light in the room. The device uses IR technology so any low-light feed will be black and white. You can set this to auto, on, or off in the settings menu.

Major Features, Events, and Alerts

As mentioned before, the only way to record events is to sign-up for one of the cloud recording storage plans; without one, you'll only be able to view live feeds. The alerts feature is robust, but most of the more advanced and useful features are locked behind an additional a paid subscription.

The free event options are limited to motion events, audio events, and human tracking. You can send alerts for these events to either your device, your email, or both. During testing, I experienced several false motion events, such as when a light was turned on or off. If your air conditioner slightly moves an open door there will be a motion event. If a pet moves past the camera, it will trigger a motion event. Your phone will constantly be notifying you of these false events. These events will be placed in Events where you can view each motion, audio, or human tracking event for the past 24-hours. You can save a specific event to the My Film section, but it will only store up to 3 hours of footage in total. Beyond that, you must download the video to your phone or computer. There's even a loud siren, but again, this can go off very easily with the slightest movements so we don't recommend enabling it.

While you can set a schedule for when event detection is active, without the more advanced AI features, it's really only useful to check on pets or children when you are not home. As a security device, there are just too many false notifications. With the more advanced AI features the SpotCam Eva 2 can tell if motion is from a person or pet, as well as allowing you to filter for known people and strangers. This will allow you to fine-tune what you actually want to be notified for, but again, that costs extra and is slowly starting to make the $49 price tag much less attractive.

Once you do receive a notification, it takes at least half a minute for the app to load and feed to display. I also found the app was often unresponsive and needed to be closed completely and reopened to view any footage. While the app may be feature-rich, it's a little clunky and slow for my liking, but will hopefully be improved with updates.

The SpotCam Eva 2 features two-way audio so you can talk back through the device: just press the talk button. Unfortunately, this mutes the audio coming from the camera until the talk button is tapped off again, which quickly becomes frustrating if you forget to press it. A walkie-talkie style push-to-talk would have been preferable, or even better, the ability to transmit and receive audio simultaneously. Another disappointment on the audio side is that the SpotCam Eva 2 only records the audio from the camera itself, and not what you say through the microphone.

The camera can pan 345-degrees and tilt up to 90-degrees, and you save up to four preset positions. With the Patrol option, you can have the Eva 2 move through your different presets to scan around the room. Human Tracking will have the camera track a person around the room and works decently well, but makes abrupt movements can't track anyone running or moving quickly.

On the bottom of the homepage, you will see Now On Air, which you can use to view the video feeds of other SpotCam users. You too can opt-in to being broadcast to the world, if you really want.

Third-Party Compatibility

The SpotCam Eva 2 comes with Alexa and Google Home integration allowing you to view the camera’s live feed through your existing Alexa or Google Home devices, but this isn't novel even on such a low-cost device.

We were unable to locate any information about importing the live video feed elsewhere for a DIY CCTV setup, such as Synology Surveillance Station. No other SpotCam devices are currently listed on the Synology compatibility list.

Is The SpotCam Eva 2 Worth It?

The home security market is extremely competitive, but at $49 the SpotCam Eva 2 offers a superb feature set with free 24-hour cloud recording. For a reliable way to live view your home and access recorded events, that's an unbeatable price. But if you need more cloud storage (because there is no local recording option), or want to use the optional AI extras to reduce false notifications, beware: costs go up rapidly.

It used to be that some versions of Bryce were offered for free download (Bryce 6 comes to mind). Now though, I can't find any mention of Bryce 6 on your website, nor can I find any mention of a free version of Bryce on your website. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Is there a cheaper version of Bryce 7? You say there is a Bryce 7 Pro. What about Bryce 7 Standard? Usually when a company offers a version called 'pro' or 'professional edition' it implies that there is also a cheaper version, usually called 'standard' or 'standard edition', that is also available. Is there such a thing for Bryce?

Also got another question. I found this on a website that distributes freeware http://www.schoolfreeware.com/Freeware_Bryce_Download.html It appears to be a legitimate freeware version from back when Bryce was offered for free, and not a pirated copy of the full version of Bryce. Is it legal for me to download still existing copies of the Bryce freeware version from 3rd party websites? Or is this in itself considered piracy, now that the company that makes Bryce has stopped making a freeware version of Bryce? I'm asking this, because I had a freeware copy of Bryce 6 a number of years ago on a computer, but I can't find it now (I think I uninstalled it, but forgot to keep the install/setup file), and am wondering if it would be legal to download a freeware copy of Bryce from a 3rd party source that still happens to have a copy on their server.

Update to last question: I did click on their download link but it just took me to a software search engine type site that keeps up to date links for software, which meant it simply linked back to daz3d.com rather than to an actual download URL for the Bryce 5.5 installer. But my question still remains. If I can find a copy of the old freeware version of Bryce somewhere on the net, is it legal for me to download it?

Twenty US Dollars is pretty cheap for a program and over 1 GB of content..

And that link goes to C-net's download page which, now, links back to the Bryce 7 Pro store page..

ETA: Do you remember your registration details from back then? Because if you do, then the serial and stuff would be in your account.

As to legit ways..finding a magazine disk with it on..that's about the only way.

No, there is no less expensive version of Bryce any longer. With the release of version 7 DAZ decided to go with a single version, and since that version contained all the bells and whistles of the pro version, they followed that naming convention. There is no longer a standard version.

In answer to your second question, no. DAZ does not offer their software products through third party sites. They are only legally available here. Not only are sites offering downloads of DAZ software doing so illegally, but such downloads would only be useable anyway if they included a serial key. DAZ does not include serial keys with the downloads of their software, but makes them available separately through the user's account here on the site. Any software downloaded elsewhere could only include an illegal key.

So, as others have clearly stated, the only way to obtain a copy of Bryce of any version, whether previously offered for free or not, is through the DAZ store. Previous versions are only available to those who already have valid licenses. The only version otherwise available at present is Bryce 7 Pro, as others have stated, and it is not free.

Ok. I see. But what about Bryce 7 Standard? Usually when a program is called 'pro' it implies multiple editions of the software. Usually the other edition is called 'standard'. So if there's a Bryce 7 Pro, I'm guessing there is also a Bryce 7 Standard. Although I've not been able to find software by that name on here.

As just SAID there is NO standard ONLY pro edition now. They no longer release other versions except FULL versions no matter the name.

Bryce 5.5 was free, is no longer free. That download link will not get you any version of Bryce, it does, as MJ said, take you to Download.com, who in their turn no longer offer a free version of Bryce but simply pass you on the the DAZ 3D site to buy Bryce, the current version.

When Bryce 7 first came out there were 3 versions available, Bryce PLE (the free version) Bryce 7 and Bryce 7 Pro. However it was always exactly the same download, the serial number was what triggered the extra features for each version. Then for quite a long time DAZ 3D were offering a 100% discount on Bryce 7 Pro, as part of a 'free' suite of programs which worked together.

Once that offer ended Bryce 7 Pro was changed back into a paid for version, but with a very much reduced price ticket and the Pro serial number only. So for today's price you get the version which was previously offered at $199.95 back in 2010, when it was first released.

Pimp your screen mac free download. So it is a bargain price. There are very few so highly specified programs which cost so little. For that price you get the Pro version, with all it's additional features compared to the standard, plus an amazing amount of content, {670mb of content).

There is currently only one version of Bryce available, and that is the one in the store here. Any other version that you find offered on the net is not a legal version.

Bryce 5.5 was released in early 2006 and Bryce 6 in October 2006.

Slightly related to the topic (yet also a bit side-tracking) but in my opinion important enough to mention: although Bryce may not be free any more Daz Studiois. And although I'm well aware that both programs have different (but also somewhat overlapping) goals I can't help mention how the combination of both environments is (in my opinion should) be a no-brainer to get hold of.

I went the other way around; started with Daz Studio and ended up picking up Bryce (and Hexagon, but that's a different subject) and even though I'm a hobbyist I never looked back or around for other solutions. The way both environments co-operate and work together is so extremely smooth and well laid out that, as mentioned before, it should be considered a no-brainer to pick them both up.

An example, maybe not the best but the best I can come up with: You have a terrain with a house and you want two people in front of that house. You could build that pose (the house and the people in front of it) entirely using Daz Studio (which provides a lot of options and posing controls) and then export the whole environment into Bryce where you can build the surrounding environment.

Within that reasoning I think it's safe to say that Daz Studio even extends on the whole 'Bryce experience'. So you could also reason that you now got the option to grab two programs for the price of one. And I honestly think it's something you should consider.

My problem is that I've been teaching Bryce to high school students for the last 15 years. One of the big draws is that students love the program and can download it at home to do longer renders. When you have 52 minute periods, some scenes just don't have time to fully render -- and I won't even get started on the time it takes to render animation.

Even though I have purchased [as have the schools I have taught for] every version of Bryce so far (including back when it was a few hundred dollars under Macromedia), without the ability to let students download and run it at home, I'm going to have to shift gears and move toward a more 'modeling' software -- like Sketchup. :/

When the forum software was last updated (major update, a couple of years back) all account info, other than join date was reset. The 'level tags' (new member, etc) are based on post count and nothing else..so if you had 10,000 before the update and haven't made one since..you'll be a new member, all over again.

Blender 3D is absolutely free 3D modelling, rendering, and animation suite.

Terragen is similar to Bryce. There is a free, not for commercial use version and a paid version so you would probably need to ask about academic use.

"Book Of NOTCH, The Temple Thief, The Traveler Has Come”

[Zeke and Arden] Are sitting on the side stairs by the shrine, talking quietly-

[CN] See's them and hides behind Firebird a bit-

[Firebird] -Looks down at the hiding CN- What, not gonna say hello?

-The two look up suddenly, like they were caught red-handed-

[Zeke] Hello Firebird, it's a nice day, isn't it?

[CN] Whispers- I don't want them to see my tail...

[Firebird] -Softly to CN- And why not, hmmm? -To Arden and Zeke- A nice day indeed!

[Zeke] His arms are covered with heart designs and weird shadowy shapes, it's obvious hes been touching Arden

[Arden] I didn't know you had a kid.

[Firebird] -Choked laughter-

[Arden] Looks embarassed- I'm sorry. Are you babysitting?

[Arden] moves over and opens the door without getting up-

[TLOT] Is headed back towards Lie's house with Steve in tow-

[CP] Is grumbling and punching things behind the horse pens, making the horses a bit agitated-

-there's some commotion inside the walls and Nessie comes out in time to see TLOT tell Cp to go fuck himself. She looks rather unimpressed-

[Steve] Sorry... He's really upset about a problem on his home seed.

[Nessie] I see.

[TLOT] Looks exasperated-

-The snow trickles away into a small slice of swamp and they travel along the coastline-

-They motion for a fem Testificate to come forward. She speaks haltingly, from nervousness- I was a bit late getting inside at night and I saw a figure pass by that didn't look like any mob I'd ever seen. They were wearing a white garment of some type. It looked like a ghost-

[CP] - Oooh, spooooky

[Steve] Can you tell us which way they were headed?

-She points down the coast- That was the day before yesterday though-

[TLOT] It may help us all the same. Thank you for being vigilant.

[CP] Rolls his eyes-

[TLOT] He fusses around in his inventory and gives her several oonions. - Something for your soups, your garden and your trouble.

-She takes the vegetables gingerly and bows before stepping back-

[Steve] We'll be off then.

[CP] Slips through the shadows to beat TLOT and Steve to the exit of the village-

[TLOT] Bumps into him intentionally and keeps walking-

[CP] Growls-

[TLOT] Is walking quicker now, looking for any signs that someone passed through-

[CP] - So what is your plan?

[TLOT] I don't have one. Maybe I'll just do what you do and rush in screaming with a weapon in each hand.

[CP] - You can't, you only have one

[Steve] He has my blade as well. I'm not standing by while my mate goes into danger.

[CP] - Oh this should be fun to watch

[TLOT] That's exactly what I would expect from you Cp. Just watch people struggle and do nothing. Go away.

[CP] - Nah, this might lighten my mood

[Steve] shouts in frustration- You're the one following us!

[Steve] Skitters closer to TLOT, who is pointedly walking away from Cp-

[CP] - I'm not sure why you chose a coward as a mate

[Steve] Unlike you, I respect people who sacrifice for others.

[CP] - And often times sacrifices are pointless

[CP] - It's kept me alive

[CP] Growls-

[TLOT] Stops cold and quivers a little - Someone is watching us....

-The biome along the shore has given way to a little bit of jungle.

[CP] - No shit, they have been for awhile

[TLOT] Says nothing and scans around, he hasn't been able to focus properly with Cp berating him-

[Steve] Is peering into the trees-

-The sudden stillness is unnerving, it seems like even the few parrots hopping about have gone silent.

[CP] Floats upwards to watch the scene unfold-

[TLOT] Calls his scythe to hand and stands with his back to Steve.

[Steve] Pulls out his own Enderpearl sword and takes a ready stance-

[CP] - This should be entertaining

[TLOT] I know you're there. Come out!

-The sense of being watched is stronger now and there's some bare movement from high in the trees-

[CP] - Let's speed this up- He tosses a fire ball at the trees

-There's a shriek of irritation and an ender pearl goes flying out of one of the trees. As it lands there's a flash of something white too close to the pair on the ground-

[TLOT] Strikes out blindly at the shape and Steve goes for the stab as well-

-There's a splash of blood, the sound of ripping fabric and the sword is almost torn out of Steve's hands as it sticks to what it's cut into. -

-The figure whips around and it pulls Steve with the sword flat onto the ground-

[TLOT] Instantly goes berzerk, swelling into his monstrous form with a groan of tortured golden armor-

-The figure darts nimbly away from his claws but the third blow catches them square. It also embeds the dagger they were holding into his palm-

[TLOT] Gives an angry roar and the ground under their attacker turns to lava.

[Steve] Gets kicked by the figure as he tries to get out of the way and falls in the lava. He screams reflexively even though it won't kill him and both the others react viscerally to his yell, one freezing in place to stare at the apparently unhurt Steve and the other to headbutt their attacker with his helmet while they're distracted. The white clad figure flies backwards into some bushes with a thump as they hit a stone outcrop.

[???] Gets up with a snarl and there's a flash of black eyes on pale skin as they look out from under their hood-

[TLOT] Pulls the dagger out of his hand and catches the gaze. He freezes in fear for a moment and they're on him again, stabbing at his bulky shape as he claws at them and slices with the now petite looking scythe. There's bits of blood and pixels flying everywhere.

[???] Freezes as a sword stabs them from behind and the blood spatters Steve's grimacing face.

[TLOT] Grabs them and throws them down, as they bang against the ground he hisses suddenly and his eyes go wide-

[???] It's just enough of a distraction for them to stab his other hand-

[TLOT] Kicks the person and they roll a few blocks away, curled up in pain.

[CP] - I taste your fear TLOT~

[TLOT] Screams- What do you want from me?! Why can't you just die?!

[???] You're the one who came looking for me...

[Steve] Because you stole from our friend, you... bitch!

[CP] Sputters out a little laugh at Steve's attempt to call him a cruel name-

[???] She still honored the dead one! It had to be set right!

[TLOT] Sneers - Do you think they should worship you instead? You NOTCH?!

[???] No, but she had things I wanted. That she had no use for-

[Steve] What are your intentions here?

[???] Same as you. Survival.

[CP] - By scaring the crap or angering everyone here? Real good plan there asshole- He brings himself back down to the ground

[???] Do I need to fight you too? - they look up and the shreds of their hood falls away, the reason for TLOT's suddenly backing off is obvious. They are a NOTCH, but instead of the bald head there is a single ruff of hair down the middle like a mohawk and the swell of blocky breasts is plainly visible through their torn and bloodied poncho. She pulls the bits of spiderweb cloth closer with the arm that's less injured and glares at him with her beady black eyes-

[CP] - Oh for fucks sake!

[TLOT] Is still huffing a bit and takes a scoop of the errant lava to heal his hands- Do you have a name... NOTCH?

[???] Traveler.

[CP] - Laaaaaaaaaaaaaame

-There's a fast motion and an enderpearl bounces off Cp's chest, there's a flash of motion too fast to follow and she viciously slices both his cheeks with a dagger made from a broken off sword-

[CP] Immediately moves to stab her- Fuck off you gnat!

[Traveler] Ducks backward and knees him squarely in the nuts, as he tips forward she uppercuts his jaw and falls back to a safer distance-

[CP] Burst into flames-

[Traveler] Watches him burn. She's still pretty injured, but as an AI it's not hindering her too much.

[CP] Is just cursing nearly non stop-

[TLOT] Tends to Steve and then checks on them. - Are we done?

[CP] - Oh fuck off asshole

[Traveler] Falters and leans against a tree. - I don't know. Who is this alien brine?

[CP] - None of your damn business

[TLOT] His wife is an ally of ours.

[Traveler] And where have you gone Herobrine? I've been trying to get a bead on you since I arrived, but you seem able to vanish from this plane of existence.

[CP] - He's a coward who has left this seed instead of tending to it

[Traveler] I have been all over this world. It doesn't need much tending. It seems his name is on everyone's lips and the people are prosperous and happy.

[TLOT] Bit o pride-

[CP] Scowls-

[CP] - Fucking whatever, let's just go home

[Traveler] Where is home?

[TLOT] Unnerved-

[CP] - Not here

[Traveler] I gleaned as much. How are you leaving and entering the world? Is home in the nether?

[TLOT] Absolutely not.

[CP] Starts laughing at the thought-

[Steve] It's another server, that this world is contained within.

[CP] Mentally to TLOT- We can always ditch her with the other NOTCH's

[TLOT] Mentally back- I'm shocked at you. After you yelled at me all damn day for neglecting my responsibilities-

[Traveler] Eyes narrow- Stop doing that. I can tell by your faces you're communicating somehow.

[TLOT] Blanches-

[CP] - So why wouldn't I expect you to abandon more?

[TLOT] Is dead silent for a long moment and then suddenly hauls off and punches Cp as hard as he can in the face with his overlarge fist-

[CP] Is thrown backwards a bit before regaining his footing and lunging at TLOT-

[TLOT] Clads himself in Netherweight and is unmovable. Cp basically just bashes into him like he hit a bedrock wall and TLOT doesn't move an inch.

[CP] Is growling and the heat of his flames is growing much more intense-

[Traveler] Watches them impassively.

[Steve] Please stop.

[CP] - Stay the fuck out of this!

[Traveler] To Steve - Should I kick him again?

[Steve] Is clearly nervous talking to her - It's okay, they're pretty evenly matched....

[CP] - I will fucking trap you in a dream!

[TLOT] He's using his own version of the 'dad voice' - I'm so sick of your shit Cp. I'm not playing with you any more today. - He waves a hand and makes an opening back into the cage before giving Cp an open-handed slap that sends him stumbling through the hole.

[Lie] Is standing on the other side in the cage, her arms crossed and a not so pleased expression on her face- CP...

[Traveler] Follows Cp through the hole before anyone can say anything- How interesting....

[TLOT] Fuck...

-The offensive pod is immediately on alert and hisses at Traveler-

[CP] Is up and about to go back through to try and attack TLOT again-

[Traveler] Hisses right back and brings a dagger to hand-

[Lie] Notices TLOT's form and with an aggravated sigh she flicks her hand forwards, attaching the collar to her husbands neck before focusing on her pod- Shhhh, easy now, it's alright

[CP] Let's out a strangled noise as he's shrunk down into a cat-

[Traveler] Barks out a small nervous laugh and locks eyes with Lie- Nice trick.... Herobrine.

[Lie] - I apologize for my husbands actions if he attacked you. My name is Lie

[Traveler] It was a scuffle, nothing more. My fight with my brine and his Steve was more... involved. I am the Traveler.

[TLOT] shuffles through giving her a suspicious look, he waits for Steve to exit and closes the portal.

-The offensive pod lowers itself close to Lie-

[Lie] - Somehow I suspect my husband was still the instigator...

[CP] Yowls and fire balls TLOT-

[TLOT] Just tanks the fireball and gives him an angry look- Stop that.

[Steve] Yeeeaaah.

[Lie] Just groans a little- CP come here...

[CP] Ignores his wife-

[Traveler] Indicates the pod with the dagger in her hand- What is that?

[Lie] - My defense, the first of it's kind as well

[Traveler] Curious. Though not as unusual as the world being contained in a room.

[Lie] - There's a second one too- Motions towards the other command block

[Traveler] What wonders and treasures does it contain?

[Steve] Other NOTCH AI's and a multitude of dragons.

[TLOT] Shucks off his chestplate and stows the streched out metal before shrinking back to his normal size.

Technical SEO for Shopify: A guide to optimizing your store for search engines

Shopify’s platform makes it simple for beginner store owners to launch their e-commerce sites, but that convenience means that many of the technical aspects of your site have been decided for you. This introduces some Shopify-specific quirks that you may run into when optimizing your site architecture, URL structure, and use of JavaScript.

The basic search optimizations that all Shopify store owners should be aware of are already covered in our main Shopify SEO guide. In this guide, we’ll help you finetune your Shopify site’s technical SEO Company to help search engines crawl and index your pages.

Tackle duplicate pages

Shopify implements collections for grouping products into categories, making it easier for customers to find them. One drawback to this is that products belonging to collection pages create a duplicate URL issue. Technically speaking, Shopify collections is an array for storing Products semantically attached by convention (instead of by ID) to resource routing.

When you associate a product with a collection page (as just about every merchant selling more than a handful of items is likely to do), Shopify automatically generates a second URL to that product page as part of the collection. This means you’ll have two URLs pointing to the same product; the URLs will appear as follows:

/products/blue-shirt

Duplicate content makes it more difficult for search engines to determine which URL to index and rank, and having multiple URLs for the same page can split your link building power because referrers may use either URL. With the use of the canonical tag you have an adequate solution for the first problem, but not the second.

The canonical tag was introduced by search engines to designate which spelling of URLs (that load the same content) is the preferred spelling for search results. There are many ways multiple spellings can come about, and Shopify’s use of collections generates duplicate URLs for products that belong to collections. Shopify points collection page canonical tags to the product page, which is excellent, but doesn’t solve the split links problem.

Eliminating alternate URLs. Fortunately, there is a known solution that you can use to resolve the issue within your templates, and you wouldn’t necessarily have to be familiar with the syntax (known as Liquid) that the template is built with. Although your mileage will vary depending on the theme you’re using, the edit you would employ should be fairly straightforward and involve an output filter “within: collection.”

To get started with this solution, you’ll first need to log into your Shopify account. From there, access your store’s theme by clicking on Online Store and then Themes from the left-hand sidebar. Next, click Customize in the Current theme section of the interface, as shown below.

In the next screen, click on Theme actions (located at the bottom of the left-hand sidebar) and then Edit code.

A new window will open, displaying your theme’s code templates to find the file that generates your collection links. In our case, we opened the Snippets folder and clicked on “{/} product-card.liquid” to locate the code we needed to edit. It appears on line 11, as indicated below.

This can be done by deleting the “ | within: collection” portion of the code. Older Liquid theme templates make reference to the now-deprecated current_collection which matches the solution in the forum link provided above. The important thing to find is the “|” pipe to the “within” filter name to Shopify’s collections and remove it.

The “within” filter builds the product link as part of the collection in the current collection context by switching what would otherwise be a rails route of “/products/:id” to “/collections/collection-name/products/:id,” for example. Since what we want is for such snippets to build links only to canonical URLs for the product, we simply remove the whole “within” filter and it works.

Overcome site architecture limitations

Another nagging problem associated with Shopify’s CMS is that your site architecture is part of the rigid structure of the Shopify rails implementation. The Shopify CMS is less flexible than WordPress, for example. If you want to perform seemingly straightforward optimizations to your site architecture, there isn’t always an obvious way to do so.

Shopify automatically generates URLs for product and collection pages. Store owners can only modify the last part of the URL (indicated in green).

For example, Shopify automatically generates the URL for your product detail pages using the following structure: myshopifystorename.com/products/product-name. Store owners can only customize the last part of the URL (indicated in green), which is derived from the page title.

If you want to remove the “/products” directory to tidy up your URLs, Shopify doesn’t have that option out-of-the-box. The SEO Company benefit of clean URLs is that users may be more inclined to click through from the search results, and other webmasters might be more likely to link to URLs which seem more authoritative by design. URLs with a path to a base directory page insinuate authority by virtue of a first-place directory rank and “/products” interferes with this. However, these paths are vital for your Shopify site’s backend to produce its dynamic content. Fortunately, there is an external workaround for this limitation.

The problem arises with conventional system frameworks, which often utilize request strings for organizational logic to access varying resources so that differing templates are provided the resources they need for publishing dynamic page content and or services. In Shopify’s case, it’s Ruby on Rails routing convention, where “/products/:id” maps URLs to product resources.

We’ve now tread into territory where you might be better off contacting a web developer unless you know how to write JavaScript and Ruby. These are more complex fixes for certain technical SEO Company problems that only a developer should implement.

Customizing site architecture with Cloud Workers. Using Cloud Workers from caching solution providers can allow for alternate delivery paths and even deliver alternate resources for requests. Cloud Workers can effectively mask Shopify’s “/products” and “/pages” URL paths.

With JavaScript Workers in the cloud, you have greater control over what’s available to you at the request/response cycle, which can mean control over practically anything. Examples include capturing requests for your sitemap.xml and robots.txt and serving alternate resources on-the-fly, injecting JavaScript into a page or groups of pages, and also cleaning up those pesky Shopify URLs to make keywords more prominent and pathnames more authoritative.

You would need to own a domain for this to work and have your registrar reset its domain name system (DNS) to point to Cloudflare, which can then provide you with the JavaScript Workers API at the point where your end-users are directed through Cloudflare by proxy to your origin server.

When you sign up for Cloudflare, you’ll log in and need to add DNS A records as well as collect Cloudflare nameserver addresses for use with your domain name registrar. Look for the DNS button as depicted above to get to the form for collecting the nameserver addresses and entering your website host IP address, where your website code is published.

You add your host provider’s origin server IP addresses by adding DNS ‘A’ (Authority) records using the interface as shown above (highlighted in green), and the Cloudflare nameserver addresses for use at your domain registrar (again, highlighted in green) which you will need to enter into name server fields at your registrar.

JavaScript Cloudflare Workers. Sign up for Cloudflare’s Workers and you now have access to introduce complex JavaScript for all manner of things. Configure which pages you want to begin managing with Workers by matching wildcard criteria to request URL structures, and you are then empowered with request and response objects to code against.

The following example would direct all conceivable URLs, including subdomains for the domain, through a Worker API at Cloudflare by proxy.

By clicking Workers and then the Add route button, you will be presented with a popup with the form for entering your URL route matching criteria. A wildcard syntax, which is the only dynamic matching operator you get, and being able to match several routes using the interface should be sufficient to match whatever you want. Refine your strategies to one route at a time since you can add several directed to one of several scripts.

Cloudflare has you set up a subdomain.workers.dev address for hosting your Workers script. You get an editing interface and a preview playground as an IDE directly in the Cloudflare front end. You’ll be able to change HTTP verbs and test how your Worker script responds before going live.

Solutions for things can run the gamut, from customizing response headers, Server Side Rendering (SSR), changing SEO Company by modifying titles, meta data, and content, redirecting, or even serving content from other hosts. “The issue was that previously our system did not allow a direct customer to proxy in front of another customer, e.g., if you went to cloudflare.com and signed up yourstore.com as a zone, we used to block you from proxying [with Shopify] for various technical reasons,” Patrick Donahue, director of product management at Cloudflare, told Search Engine Land.

Cloudflare’s enterprise sales team is currently working directly with Shopify merchants who want to onboard because there are manual steps involved that require assistance from their solutions engineers, Donahue explained. Cloudflare plans to make this option more widely available later this year.

More solutions may be on the horizon. Now that Cloudflare has solved the problem of sorting out the proxy configuration settings to get it to work with Shopify (which itself uses a caching solution), hopefully other caching solution providers will offer similar services as Cloudflare is preparing to with Shopify stores.

I had a great week doing duplicates work and fixing bugs.

I split this big duplicates storage overhaul into three jobs, and this week marks the third and final job done. Like alternates and duplicates information, potential pairs are now stored in a unified and more efficient way.

On the front end, you may notice your potential pairs queue shorten again on week. It will also shrink faster as you process in the duplicate filter, which will present more 'useful' duplicate pairs first and apply your decisions more intelligently at the db level.

All the code is simpler except for one key area. If you notice certain the 'show some random potentials', duplicate filter or potential counts load time take way too long, please let me know about your situation. It is possible I will have to revisit this complicated 'join', although in my tests it is performing well.

Also, I have written the new record to stop alternate pairs coming up in the duplicate filter repeatedly, as some users have experienced. These relationships are now more concrete, and this concreteness is plugged into duplicate merge operations and so on. You may see one more round of alternates appearing, and then they will be saved properly.

Now everything is stored on the new system, there are two main jobs remaining: re-adding various administrative commands like remove/dissolve to properly undo relationships, and adding some options and improvements to the duplicate filter workflow.

I may have fixed the problem where exiting manage tags from a media viewer sometimes falls focus back to the main gui. Please let me know if you still get this (and if so, if you know a way you can reliably repeat this behaviour).

I improved some of the network engine's 'this connection ended early' checks. This may have fixed some issues users had downloading images and page data from some unreliable servers, but if it does not, please send me any incomplete jpegs and the URLs they came from so I can check further on my end. Also, the whole system is more strict about response lengths now, so if you discover false-positive network failures here, please report them.

Also some server issues related to last week's client api authentication improvements (such as file repository file upload sometimes breaking) should be fixed.
