So!
I really really liked Transformers One!
The visuals were gorgeous, the characters were interesting, more under the cut
I especially liked the designs of the Quintessons, and the Quintesson ships. I liked how the ships themselves seemed like living organics up close, like some sort of massive arthropods.
I'll admit that initially learning Elita's VA had worried me, but I think Scarlett did manage to capture Elita's personality in a very interesting light— so much that I mayyyy have forgotten she was Elita's VA until the credits😅
there were so many recognizable characters in the background, but since I was. Well. In a theater and not in a place where I could pause and screenshot things I'm sure I missed quite a few Easter eggs
May I return to how much I loved the visuals??? Iacon felt alive and busy, and even though you can tell the surface was ravaged by the Quintessons it was full of so many interesting details. I fucking loved the shifting rocks and mountains
oughhh Airachnid was so cool, she gave me heavy xenomorph vibes.
I may or may not have quietly called D-16/Megatron Optimus's wife several times in the theater. I don't think my Grandma heard me as she was screwing around on her phone the majority of the time.
The transformations were pretty cool
Sentinel was the utter bastard I knew he'd be
They didn't kill the Quintessons or even directly go up against them, (which I was expecting them to go against them) which makes me think they might be saving that for a sequel or something.
LOVED THE END SEQUENCE OF D-16 FINALLY BECOMING MEGATRON AND ORION PAX BECOMING OPTIMUS PRIME, visually it was so cool
Alpha Trion's altmode was cool
I didn't expect it to have been Sentinel to scratch the first decepticon badge into Megatron's armor as a mocking gesture
Didn't expect the future decepticons to be called the High Guard, and to have their ties to the Thirteen Primes
again I loved how beautiful everything was, again and again
hehehe mild swearing in a PG movie
Probably more I can't think of right now!
Things I questioned / think could've been changed:
... I'll admit, as much as I love Megs, his character and progression from miner to leader of the decepticons felt a little out of character to me. I understand this is a new continuity with its own rules but I almost felt like Orion and D-16 should've been swapped. Idk, just an opinion. It felt very weird to hear D-16 go "mnnn but maybe we're better off as just miners, we're cogless :/", and I feel like his turn to seek violence was a bit fast.
I've seen the inclusion of Bee/B-127 as part of the original four questioned since the first trailer released, and while I liked him in the movie I do agree he might've should've been another character. Though, I'm inclined to suggest he maybe should've been Dion, and died somewhere at the end of the movie.
I'm a little disappointed we didn't get to see other possible Cybertronian cities like Tarn, Kaon, Vos, or Praxus. Idk if it'd've been realistic for them to include them, but still.
.Still not sure about Chris Hemsworth as Orion/Optimus.
Idk. I liked a lot of things about the movie, but there were a few things here and there, you know?

been playing pathologic throughout the summer and i've enjoyed it a lot and im currently on the changeling campaign and I heard a lot of people say the changeling route is underwhelming and weak but honestly i think it's been really great so far and I think it has tons of depth and I find Clara very interesting
Idk im on day 8 of the campaign I feel like I have more thoughts on this route then the haruspex campaign. Perhaps its partly because Clara's subject matter appeals to me a lot but I think it's amazing
It's this tragic story about a little girl who so badly wants to be good and do good. She wants to be love and accepted and find her place in the world with all the anxiety she has over her unsureness on her identity and the strange circumstances of her existence. It's about the Saburovs playing this pretend, toxic, nuclear family structure with her. Where a part of them does care about and love her but for selfish reasons. They project their insecurities on her, both of them. They want her to be their salvation and be their key to finally helping the town as they feel they're failures and frauds in that pursuit. So they pressure, love bomb, and abuse their daughter to fit this mold. And Clara is scared but she follows anyway desperate for love. And even without realizing it she's mimicking their teachings and values because It's all she's been given in this world. The only source of guidance
It's about Clara and her relationship to the people around her. How she feels sympathy for her bound because she sees herself in them. Because she sees they're people with dimensions and are complicated. And she wants someone to see and grant her mercy and forgiveness as well. And it's so interesting to compare this to her interactions with Daniil and Artemy. Who she's also very similar with but demonizes them. (which I don't think is unjustified btw as they're very horrible to her. But I want to note that while the healers always had some tension between them this route has definitely cranked it up a ton and in the opening play Clara is the one criticizing them for being heartless, selfish, and "not knowing compassion" right off the bat. And even in the few times Artemy and Daniil can have pleasant exchanges with her it's short lived and never sticks with her) And she goes the extra mile to demonize them and deny and dismiss any complexity they might have as she also sees herself in them but doesn't want to admit it. Because it's what she doesn't want to be. It hurts too personally for her to associate with them and makes her feel pathetic even thinking she could be similar to them because she doesn't want to share their loneliness, their struggles, their failures. It makes her feel more stable in her identity to put them down and go "Well at least I'm not like those bloodthirsty horrible useless doctors"
And While Clara also feels dislike towards Maria. Maria is someone Clara wants to be. She wants to be that beloved and powerful mistress. Someone who can guide and help others and use her power for good. Which is why she'll say "Her and Capella will be the only ones to understand my loneliness." Clara wants someone to understand her pain but only if she can protect this idealized image of herself she's painted in her mind because she's been hurt too much.
It's a tragic story of the unrealistic and harsh standards placed on young teenage girls. And the idea that perhaps humanity is the problem. But taking that message in a rather conservative and violent way then one that acknowledges the complexity and indoctrination society and people have built. A young girl internalizing beliefs of irredeemable ontologically evil people due to all the abuse she's been put under.

SIkuna doing a mantra of "-DoNotHugTheChildDoNotHug-" is hilarious, thank you for that
Glad to hear that you found it as hilarious as I did lmao, it's such a funny contrast to how he may come off externally 😂
(He tries very, very hard to balance out being relatively pleasant with just bad enough for Yuji not to completely 'forget what he's dealing with' but mAN is it a tightrope walk above a freaking canyon kinda balancing act huh 😂
(ironically it'd be MUCH easier - and less stressful - for him to actually physically do that, maybe even in a handstand, rather than having to deal with the metaphorical version lmfao))
But, fun fact; although he's not gonna Hug The Child (that's for 'Sunshine Child'/Part 2 and after it 🤗), there is gonna be a bit of a compromise on that front at one point lol
- with an 'Oh I'm So Selfish Wah Wah' excuse ofc, but how effective it's gonna be you'll have to just wait and see until I Finally Finish The Freaking Part heh
*stares at the keyboard like it stole my carrot sticks or something*
Yuji's gonna be so confused lmfao, he just had to get the 'Morally Ambigous But Very Caring' Inner Demon edition rather than the 'Obviously Evil And Clearly Malicious' edition
and now has to wonder if he's having a malfunctioning People Reading sense or if this King of Curses guy is actually really not That bad (but trying to act like he is???) even if not 100% good 😂😂😂

yet another oc that only exists because i wanted to write something very specific
(middle is a little older, hence her scar healing. i like to think she gets a glass eye at some point)
anyway this is mira! (they/she) since that wip is almost 20k words and counting i won’t give away too much but long story short she’s the result of meta going “one last time, i promise” and adopting yet another kid
also galaxia kinda indirectly picked the name :)
i’ve mentioned before that i headcanon that pretty much all astrals are autistic and this is just kinda an extension of that. whereas meta tends to suppress his emotions and conform to others, mira…doesn’t. she gets uncomfortable and upset and lashes out at people easily, and working through their emotions is no small task.
the main reason i chose to write them that way was for the sake of narrative but i’ve grown attached to it because there’s a lot of ideas there i’d like to explore. stuff about navigating emotions and relationships when existing is so suffocatingly uncomfortable. it’s not something i could center around Kirby himself, but i think it makes sense with a post character development meta knight.
they are very loved (omg oldee cameo???)
kirby was definitely very excited to have younger siblings after being used to being the youngest in the room for so long!! (with the like. one and only exception being gooey.) he’s super affectionate with both of them and wants to have a close relationship one day, but for now mira is pretty unappreciative of that fact lol. they don’t like being pestered for hugs
everyone else is okay tho
(i know that’s hard to read. oops. “obvious bite marks”. siblings being siblings.)
mira also has a very love/hate relationship with the egg kid, being so close in age they kinda Have to get along but in typical sibling nature they also fight a lot. sure it’s probably rough for a while but i think in the end they’d be good buddies. maybe not as close as Kirby and Bandee but still.
anyway i have a lot of thoughts and am very busy but. i’m really enjoying writing about all this lately it’s been fun ^^

i just think it's interesting that dropout was like "we as a company cannot express any political opinions towards the israeli/palestinian conflict" yet their BIGGEST show is currently discussing the ethics behind one group of people taking a "home" away from another group of people, and figuring out who started the cycle of fear and violence, and debating which violence is justified in this circumstance. like an npc literally said The Zionist/Apartheid Thing of "if we stop our Killing Them On Sight policy, they're gonna turn around and do that to us."
like. im not claiming this was an intentional analogy for the palestinian genocide (or even that it lines up perfectly)... just that media is inherently political, and this particular media company has branded itself as being anti-capitalist and, ironically, has profited off of this stance (from both selling anti-capitalist merchandise and from customers wanting to check out/support a company that aligns with their values). so it's kinda fucked up that they claim they don't "want the company to have political opinions" when the current show they're airing COULD BE VIEWED AS THEIR STANCE ON THIS VERY ISSUE.
