Ah'Lyiah Candles is an female owned, eco-friendly soy wax candles & fragrance oils company.

Ah'Lyiah Candles launched in 2021 in Sacramento, CA. Making candles was just a hobby that I enjoyed in my spare time. I started making candles for myself, my family, and my friends. I have gotten fantastic feedback from everyone about how much they love my candles.

Many have asked why don't I start selling candles. Sitting in my living room one day, I began to think and ask myself if maybe it might be a good idea if I start a small candle business of my own. I'm pretty sure everyone loves some good-smelling candles in their home. The next day I started noting down everything I needed to make candles.

As my candles journey kicked off, I started my inventory with 60 candles and just two different scents. I first launched my candles on Instagram, and without a doubt, all 60 candles sold out within 24 hours. Inventory has become much more significant; I now have eight scents and over 60 candles.

So as I sit here hyperfixating on LoZ, I got a neat idea which I will probably never try:

Breath of the Wild-inspired scented candles.

I do make candles for a hobby, and they are usually scented, but I'm not really into the soy wax jar candles that are the usual form these things take (and the form in which they occurred to me, ironically), and I'm also not into a lot of the popular scents for candles. I strongly prefer naturalistic floral and herbal/spice scents and tend to avoid fruit (except citrus) and other, less botanical options...but IF I were doing this project, I would suck it up and lean into the trends.

So here's what I came up with. I don't know if all these blends would even work. I think some of them might turn out terrible if they were done IRL. But if I don't put these out into the world then a very specific part of my brain is going to explode from the pressure.

For each candle, the scents are listed in order from strongest to mildest.

Akkala Wilds: Earthy, autumnal, and herbal. Oakwood, rosemary, nutmeg.

Death Mountain: Smoky and spicy. Campfire, cinnamon.

Faron Woods: "Tropical rain forest." Hibiscus, mango, bamboo grass.

Gerudo Town: Elegant and feminine, yet powerful. Rose, cloves, melon.

Great Fairy Fountain: Heavy floral. Orchid/plumeria, lilac, orange blossom.

Hebra Trail: Biting cold. Pine, camphor, raspberry.

Hyrule Field: Grassy and floral. Lavender, lemongrass, apple peel.

Kara Kara Bazaar: Exotic and layered. Ginger, teakwood, cactus blossom.

Korok Forest: Earthy and spring-tinged. Cherry blossom, maple sugar, patchouli.

Lurelin Coast: Warm seaside. Sea salt, coconut, saffron.

Roadside Stable: Homey and rural. Fresh bread, hay, leather.

Shrine of Resurrection: Fresh and invigorating. Eucalyptus, mint, cucumber.

Silent Princess: Light floral. Gardenia, sweet pea, vanilla.

Zora's Domain: Clean and watery. Rain, lotus, lemon.

I'm sadly allergic to most scents, so scented candles don't feature in my life. But I infinitely prefer the smell of beeswax candles over paraffin or soy wax! It's subtle, but there's definitely a difference, and the lingering honey smell from beeswax is delicious.

4 what flower would you like to be given?

Ooooh. For all that I'm often allergic, I still love flowers with rich perfume, like roses, lilacs or honeysuckle! The only big no-no would be daylilies because they're horrifically toxic for cats.

5 who do you feel most you around?

I'm really blessed to have a number of friends I feel most myself around, and can let all masks and filtering drop! Which, given that I am probably (tho not officially diagnosed) autistic and/or type-inattentive ADHD, being able to drop the filtering is wonderfully freeing.

Knee is healing ok, minimal bruising as usual because I just don't bruise more than green (even on blood thinners so I get nasty bumps and short of it being my head: not much to show for it). Wounds are still inflamed but that's just the immune system. I've been having to crop out a cut on my finger from photos that's been looking nasty for two weeks. It's just how that works.

R I C E: Rest, ice (heat actually, i don't do well with ice), compression, elevation worked well. There's some fluid but no friction or particularly strong pain when walking. Fluid removal is 'wait and see'.

My shoes have worn frictionless. Shoe shopping is going to be near impossible for multiple tl,dr reasons: catalogue and the small shoe shop in town won't work, I've been dreading this. But I have boots for this winter and hopefully will find a solution before spring. But hey this time last year I was wearing shoes for more than an hour for the first time. 😅😎

I'm really enjoying getting back into Stargate Atlantis: goldilocks brain zone for the moment. I know the day will come when finishing an episode will feel like a cringey chore or periods where I'm not bored per se but not immersed enough to summon the will but it's a great world to fall back to and have as sort of background for crafting with pauses in crafting for important bits.

The vaccine is slowly finishing up after 2 days fever and those ugh aches it's now just an itchy upper arm. I've felt less panicked talking to people, it's not a magic shield of course it's just a tiny thing that makes the world less lethal so yeah that feels massive.

Sis and I found someone had dumped about 60 brand new 9 day candles, we assumed they were survivalist (orange and yellow packaging) or cozy (they're low danger), thought about maybe decorating them and gifting them for xmas before remembering that this is catholic country, those are novena prayer candles and day of the saints was two weeks ago. 💀😬 That would have not been an appropriate gift.

So I got to play around with one: soy wax and the wick, glitter, mika, pastel chalk pigment and some shot glasses. It's low temp so you can use the microwave.

I feel confident I could whip up an emergency dried lavender flowers with essential oil in pale lilac shimmer soy candle in a jam jar if we needed an emergency present this holiday season. Last year got a little complicated because we didn't have the ingredients to do quick candies or baked goods as we don't have sugar in the house.

I'm getting overwhelmed again, need to go through the to do lists and cull what's just not realistic and break down tasks that seem too hard because they're not chopped into easier parts.

8 oz soy wax candle poured in a luxury concrete vessel. Includes a single wooden wick, designed to burn cleanly, promoting a full melt pool and excellent scent throw. Each candle should burn for at least thirty five to forty hours. Get them fast! Only six candles of each scent!
