Today's challenge is to share a story that has some top-tier fluff! I definitely think this one by @neonthewrite fits the bill:

I love the g/t sorta isekai trope so much. Like Lilliput AUs???? PLEASE. MORE.
Or getting shrunk by a fae or something and discovering a whole new tiny world existing alongside your own???
OR A tiny manages to make themselves big through some bizzare means and has to adapt to this weird new world around them?
More true to the trope, a person gets isekai'd but in this new world they are giant/tiny for some odd reason.
I feel like I used to see a lot more stuff like this years and years ago, but it sort fizzled out.
Bring on the G/t Renaissance Era!!!
What are some "old school" tropes that you guys wish got more attention?

My good friend DC commissioned this piece as my Christmas present. <3 The art is by Cristel. It's for my fic Wild Uncharted Waters, the sequel to We'll Always Have Lilliput. Check them out if you want some S1 AU shenanigans where things start to branch from canon after Stede (and eventually Ed) mysteriously wind up tiny. Also, DC has an awesome future spies AU OFMD series you should check out, among many other fine fics, including a Season 2 AU bodyswap collab we wrote (written prior to S2, but with some fun parallels)!
...They're not all AUs or branching timelines, I promise. XD

Lilliput AU but
but there are two humans who don't know each other, that somehow got Gullivered. They don't have to arrive at the exact same time together, just a point in time where both humans will be in Lilliput together.
Politics in Lilliput going crazy because the government is running out of budget to feed TWO fucking giants now
As per usual, the language barrier bonus: one human is not fluent/doesn't speak English, and language barriers between both the giants and tinies holy shit groundbreaking idea
Or the alternative could be if a human arrived hundreds of years ago, obviously dead because it's been so long, but the Lilliputians have one giant as a sample to work with, so the next human to arrive will be .. Less cancerous for Lilliput to communicate with.
Language barrier bonus in this case would be that they still don't speak the same language as the first giant so all their language samples are wasted lol

Doing Time
2. Bird
From this list of gt prompts.
AU: BTaS; a continuation of The Borrower Ashore
~~~
To say the Doctor was grumpy about the situation would be an understatement.
Washed up on a land inhabited by borrower-sized folk who saw him as nothing more than a beastly giant, forced to cooperate with their efforts to capture and contain him because they clearly wouldn’t rest until he was dealt with one way or another… He couldn’t put Zepheera at risk that way, especially when the TARDIS was nowhere to be found.
That was probably what made him the grumpiest. He had to do something to alleviate the boredom while his companions slept, and more often than not, that something was tinkering around with the settings. The Hostile Action Displacement System seemed an innocuous choice at the time, especially while traveling with a borrower. Brave as she was, her tiny stature did make her more vulnerable to environmental extremes. Avoiding those should have been a good idea, given the endless possibilities of the universe.
How frustrating that it activated during a storm on the open sea, causing the TARDIS to vanish to avoid sinking into the ocean.
Now the Doctor was stuck in a hole, quite an impressive hole for the Lilliputians that had shackled him here, but one the Time Lord could easily climb out of if he put in any effort. Until he got a signal letting him know the TARDIS had landed, there wasn’t much point. The Doctor was a towering giant in a place like this, he couldn’t easily blend in or hide much of anywhere. Zepheera wasn’t going anywhere without him, choosing to stay captive alongside her friend until they found a way out of this.
While he pondered all this, the Doctor was just barely aware of some small shape circling around in the corner of his eye. He instinctively lifted a hand to swat at it, he was in no mood for insects interrupting his grumpy thoughts.
“Doctor!” Zepheera chided from his shoulder, shoving at his neck for good measure.
The Doctor blinked and his hand froze in place as he glanced over. Now that he put thought into it, of course it wasn’t an insect. Those were too small for him to properly perceive here. Instead, what he’d nearly swatted was a now rather flustered seagull, which fussed at him as it circled its way out of the pit.
He gave an exasperated groan. “Come on, it’s been two days! She’s never taken this long to reappear!”
“Hardly her fault you reset her to vanish,” Zepheera pointed out dryly.
“Rubbish enough being stuck in one place like this,” he griped, ignoring the borrower’s point, “but having to spend it like this is just asinine–”
A sharp warble from his pocket cut his rambling short. The Doctor perked up and hurried to fish his sonic out of his jacket. “Oh, finally!” he exclaimed, shooting to his feet and causing Zepheera to cling to his collar. He paid her no mind in his excitement; according to the signal he’d received, the TARDIS hadn’t landed far at all!
When he stood at his full height, his head and shoulders popped up out of the pit. His head was on a swivel, hoping to catch sight of his precious ship.
Then he spotted it. And his hopeful grin dropped.
“Oh, that’s just...spectacular.”
The blue of the TARDIS stood out sharply against the beach. Not the Lilliputian beach, though. No, she had reappeared across the water, along the shores of Blefescu. Lilliput’s sworn enemy, as explained to the travelers by one of their more friendly guards.
In an attempt to not be completely fed up by the situation, the Doctor glanced toward his companion, standing at the edge of his shoulder. “Up for a swim?”
Wildflower Dust
GT July's prompt for today is "Flower." Do I have several characters aligned with flowers? Absolutely. Did I use any of them for this? I did not. Today I decided to do an unexpected visit to the Chase in Lilliput AU.
Masterpost Link
Chase in Lilliput Tag for Desktop
~~~
Lilliput’s resident giant woke blearily to the sound of a rooster hollering at the other end of the field. Jacob didn’t mind an early awakening, in principle, but sometimes he swore that the bird waited until he was deep in a sleep cycle before bothering to crow over the farmland. As he blinked the sleepiness from his eyes, he heard roosters from farms farther away as they also joined in the call. The farmlands and outskirts of the city would be awake soon enough, even if the city itself might indulge in some snoozing.
Jacob rolled his shoulders carefully to avoid knocking down his meager shelter. He had a pavilion of his own over part of the unused field that the Lisongs let him use for sleeping. It didn’t really cover most of his body, only his head and shoulders, but the wooden roof kept nighttime rain off his face and its single east-facing wall kept the sun from hitting his eyes in the morning before he was ready. Unless he could figure out a whole lot of canvas for a tent, that was the shelter he had and he didn’t want to besmirch their hospitality by knocking it down.
He shuffled himself out of his pavilion with care, then paused to yawn at the brightening sky. It was a mild morning but something told him it’d be a hot day in no time at all.
He brushed his hands over his face to try to wake up a bit faster; there was no real hurry, being a giant in Lilliput, but if he could be alert before any Lilliputians came looking for him, he’d try.
Chase especially required a lot of energy to keep up with, but all of the miniature denizens of this miniature continent kept Jacob guessing.
After another yawn, Jacob glanced out over the fields beyond his own patchy-grass pasture, and paused in surprise. For an instant, he summoned up the word snow despite the summer being in full swing. Then, as he stared out at the fields and their widespread smattering of white dust, he realized what it actually was.
Wildflowers, what must be hundreds of thousands if not millions of them, had bloomed overnight.
What looked like a dusting of snow on the gentle slope of the pasture was actually a dusting of flowers so small he could hardly see any individual one.
It wasn’t the first time Jacob had been awed by the scale of things in Lilliput. He’d already noticed, time and again, how small the trees were, with most of them only coming up to his waist and the taller ones only growing further out of town in the mountains. All of the crops in the fields and the grass in the animal pastures fit the scale of the Lilliputians. It only made sense that the wildflowers would match that tiny size too.
Fascinated, Jacob leaned over where he sat, watching the faint breeze play over the grass and the little specks of white and pale pink and yellow - he hadn’t even noticed the other colors at first. Cheerful little flowers waved in that breeze, barely more than motes of color from his view.
He found a rare patch of grass that hosted no flowers at all and settled his hand on the ground to brace himself. He had to lean down close, his shadow looming over the field, but once he did he could finally see the individual faces of the tiny flowers. His free hand hovered nearby; he barely resisted the temptation to brush his fingertips over the patch of pale colors. That’d probably damage most of them and he wouldn’t even be able to tell.
At least, from this close, Jacob caught the faintest scent of the flowers on the morning breeze. It came as a pleasant surprise; he hadn’t expected them to be potent enough for him to notice. As he sat up again, the ground trembled with the simple movements. It was as if the patch of flowers he’d investigated waved him goodbye.
As Jacob stretched his arms overhead and then to the sides to work out the stiffness of sleeping on the ground, he decided that a walk through those fields and farther might be in order, if only to see how far the wildflowers went.

Folk's Worst Triplet - Mäkkelä, John Steam Jr. & The Black Elephant Band

is camembert a new oc of yours? gotta know more about them!! 👀
camembert is not all that new but he's fairly recent so! he's not super fleshed out but he was made for an au and appears in another one as a little goof (the alien au, since i wanted to make alien versions of some tower enemies as filler) but anyway he was made for the peppino's travels au which is like. gulliver's travels, sort of? inwhich the tower is lilliput and peppino is gulliver. the tower itself looks normal sized from the outside, but of course, everything and everyone in it is tiny. basically what happens is of course everyone is freaked the fuck out by this giant in their home, and you know theyre crawling on him like stupid ants trying to figure out like what the hell is this, is it alive, ya know. camembert has the misfortune of uh. well he was looking at peppino's mouth as normal folks would and he slips and falls in and. peppino wakes up, panic response to "something in mouth" is "swallow it" and . well. cam gets vored.
cam himself is uh. not much of a character. however he is extremely anxious (moreso than a usual forknight) and also extremely curious. he carries a spork instead of a fork, technically making him a sporknight

Will contain spoilers to Bowman of Wellwood.
You have been warned.
Tumblr media
Dear @neonthewrite,
I just bought and read "Bowman of Wellwood".
And my gosh.
Is it one of, if not the best G/T story I have EVER READ.
Read it in less than an hour; but it was the best hour of my life.
So as a self-proclaimed "terrible book reviewer that has no idea what he's doing and has never written an actual book in his life", I shall now gush about the book, what I love, and what I dislike.
Characters
My, my, my...
I first read all the other (free) Wellwood AUs with Brothers Apart, Sam of Wellwood, the various oneshots, etc. before BoW. When I first looked at Bobby, Jacob, and Chase, I thought they were pretty one-dimensional in some ways.
Jacob just seemed like a sprite/bitty loyalist, who "could do no wrong", Chase was a gremlin who, similar to Jacob, couldn't do anything wrong, and Bobby was just an arse. Static, manipulative, just another crack in the unpaved road; all the bad things. Logan, on par with his other appearances, was just as infuriatingly good at hurting the small people (His blood shall boil in the undying fires of Hell itself until he is nothing more than a lifeless husk of what he once was).
Bowman of Wellwood changes all of that, perhaps because (heh, no duh) this story is probably where they originated from.
Jacob's introduction, similar to Brothers Lost and the likes, is tainted by a bad first impression, and I have to commend how one-sided the actual "badness" of the interaction is, and how well it's executed; Jacob doesn't really think that what he's doing (up until the "wing-no-hurty" part) is really that bad... as the human. And unlike [Brothers] Lost, this interaction is directly between two characters, with the only Bowman being the "catalyst of the ultimate realization", which builds up Jacob and Bowman's characters (Bowman's values and Jacob's actions). The moment where Jacob chooses Bobby over Bowman? Oooh, it hurts.
Chase, unlike all of his other "cameos", only furthers the chain of bad impressions by being overly grabby. This contrasts the initial expectations I had of him and makes him that much better as side character. He can make big mistakes as well. The only real issue I found was that he didn't exactly do... much. Although yes, he isn't exactly a main character of any sort, his personality never quite shows any changes, and he never really gets "screen time" as Jacob's friend, unlike Lost, or as a separate character, like Chase in Lilliput; he just feels like comedic relief at times. Perhaps if they had an interaction that strengthened their relationship, it would make the part where Jacob almost dies that much more impactful. That scene, by the way, is (chef's kiss) beautiful and I cried. A lot.
Bobby, though, is the main highlight. His development is a day-and-night difference, and it really makes his other appearances quite drab in comparison. I love this Bobby, where he isn't quite a good guy, but he's on a path of redemption, and it makes him a better person in the end. Hey, I'm all for sad endings for the pseudo-antagonist, but I'm glad I didn't feel like beating him up at the end of the story. I do have to say though, I do wish the book went a little deeper into his background. As far as I can tell (I read this in an hour, mind you; I tend to overlook details), the only real motive that Bobby had to reveal Bowman to his grandfather was validation. To feel a sense of fulfillment that he helped his family. I mean, hey, good for him, but why does he want that sense of accomplishment? Did his family look down on him when he was younger?
Maybe I missed that detail, who knows.
Plot
The plot is amazing. I love how in most of the stories involving Bobby, he's treated as the antagonist, mostly, like in Brothers Lost and Bobby of Nowhere. But in BoW, he's brushed aside before he even really gets to do anything particularly terrible, because arses like Logan exist. Of course, "wing-no-hurty: the sequel" is still terrible, don't get me wrong, but it pales in comparison to Logan's actions, and emphasizes that Bobby is redeemable; Logan is not.
I love that as the story progresses, Bowman's absence in Wellwood only grows, starting with when he first sees the human's, to the end of the story. It shows how he slowly becomes more accustomed to the humans he trusts, and that they aren't really that different. And also it shows that they WON'T STOP TRAPPING THE POOR MAN OH MY GAWSH.
The humor is lovely. Period. Need I say more? Seeing the humans snark at Bowman, only for him to pull out a hilarious rebuttal out from behind his back is so perfect. The sprites' lack of knowledge on human things always gets me no matter where I see it, and there's always a... nice... Chase Lisong quip when it's needed.
The death of Lord Scar isn't really illustrated enough, though. He's an important part of Bowman's life, a figure that he sort of looks up to, that everyone looks up to. I sort of wish there was a scene for mourning and honoring him, maybe giving him another surname for defeating humans, like "Giantsbane" or something like that. If the sprites mourn and honor, that is.
This story, like all stories you write tend to have, has amazing, suspenseful moments. Logan's entrance? Unexpected (for when it happens, at least), and so well done. When Jacob gets shot? Expected - there was a mention of it in one of the other stories - but just as heartbreaking.
Prayers
Oh, the sprite/Spirit universe just got so much larger.
Bowman being revealed to be able to pray to the Water Spirit, only to seamlessly transition into him using it to save Jacob is just so amazing.
However, I will mention the abruptness - is that the right word? - of Prayers. While it's mentioned all throughout the beginning of the book, the actual workings of it seems to be unknown until it suddenly pops up when Bowman gets hurt that one time. And then when it's abruptly brought up to the humans, they have no idea what is going on.
Again, I might've missed the details where it's brought up.
So yeah, that's Bowman of Wellwood.
It's truly an amazing story. I loved it, and I'm sure anyone, whether they're in the G/T community or not, will enjoy it just as much. I may be a bit late to this party (the cake has already been abandoned and the balloons have already lost their helium), but anyone who hasn't already, please read this story. It's only five bucks as an e-book in Amazon.
Just read the dang thing; it's definitely worth it.

Also keine weißen Ritter für uns. Seufzen.
Will you be continuing chase in lilliput? It's wonderful!
Yes! I love that AU and the shenanigans that come with it!
Last month I actually started work on the next installment I hope to share, so hopefully there isn't too much longer of a wait for more.
Here's a sneak peek:
"Dude, how tall do you think you actually are? Like the actual number, not a guess?"
That the question hadn't come up sooner surprised Jacob, and he tilted his head thoughtfully. "Giant" was usually enough to describe him. Some of the folks in Lilliput didn't even call him by any other name. He accepted it; even if he felt like they must be the small ones, they outnumbered him here. It counted for enough. "Dunno. I mean, I know how tall I feel like I am, but you don't exactly have a ruler around that'll work."
Chase sat up from where he lay, rather close to the edge of a cliff that put him near Jacob's eye level sitting down. Jacob had washed onto shore under those cliffs, and Chase was being awfully bold lying so close to the edge considering he'd fallen off before. "Wait. How tall do you feel like you are?"
"Six foot five," Jacob answered, the number coming easily to him even if the memory of why didn't occur to him.
"Uh. That's lowballing it a bit for sure," Chase said, an incredulous grin on his face. "Dude, we should try to find out. Get a real scale of ya!"

Been around for a bit... Reposted from @aucourantdaily SUNDAY READING | A Noble Move. Au Courant Vol 05. . . "Some people think you have to critique and berate artists and performers in order to get excellence, but I don't believe in that rubbish at all. You do have to be firm but if you push, you often break things beyond repair..." . . Can we shout this on a megaphone in the direction of all the pundits out here, already? . . Wise words by the great Noble Douglas, modern dancer and founder of NDDCI / Lilliput Children's Theatre, Trinidad, seen here in Au Courant Vol 05, in an archival portrait taken in 1982 by Mark Lyndersay @thelyndersayarchive @macmark23 . . Most of her one-time dancers - myself included - can tell hilarious tales of being on the receiving end of her death stares and shouts during recitals. And yet, we all knew there was never any callousness, insult, or harming involved - just a constant, unflinching demand that we challenge ourselves. . . Now in her 70s, it's been decades since she has been on the stage but her company members still dance in majestic fashion. I've heard that later today, Lilliput Theatre will perform at @queenshalltt Queen's Hall in Port-of-Spain in "Question," their first outing since the Pandemic began. . . If you're in Trinidad, you know where you should be this evening. L-M.
