Cole has always loved flowers. He thinks it started when he was young, when his mother was alive. Since far before Cole's birth, Lily had kept a cute, small garden full of beautiful roses, tulips, etc. Her favorite, though, has always been lilies.

Lily had always made an effort to make sure her Lily garden was always pristine and watered, always taken care of. So, when she became sick, she gave the job to Cole.

Cole started to associate caring for flowers as one of the last few things his mother asked him to do. He always has a garden wherever he lives now; the bounty, the apartment, the monastery. All of them had a little garden for Cole.

Every time someone "dies," he adds a new type of flower to his garden. When Zane died, it was irises, etc. etc.

When he became a ghost, he could no longer water his plants. He feared the water. So, he had thought that his garden would wither away.

He didn't suspect, however, that his friends, his family would take it upon themselves to keep his garden alive. He knows that no matter what happens to him, they'll keep his garden. He wonders what flower they'll plant for him when it's his turn.

Day 1, mother

Wu: What's the most physically painful thing you guys have ever experienced? I got hit by Earth's shockwave.

Libber: Falling off a cliff.

Ray: I once got clipped by a dragon's ice breath.

Lily: Probably getting stepped on by a mino.

As Cole posed viciously, trying to obtain the earths power, bursting it towards his opponent, a flower bloomed, tying them up.

"What the.." confused as he was he still had a duty to fufill, he handed the criminal to the commissioner as he headed back to the monastary.

Sitting in the living room, fiddling with a flower bud he took, he spoke up to Sensei wu.

"Master, something strange happened today..."

"Cole, does this have sometheing to do with your elemental power?"

"Uhhh... yeah actually-"

"I knew this was coming.."

"I made flowers, master. I cant produce anything- and im not the elemental master of nature!"

The rest of the ninja were nosily perking up, urging Wu to continue his train of thought.

"Long ago, Cole, when your mother was your age, she had a best friend who had no power of his own. He grew jealous of your mother and attempted anything to get a power of his own. He even asked me to train him. Eventually your mother and her friend, libber, found a way to give her friend part of her power. But the consequence ... was tying their fates together, technically making their souls collide at the end of the line."

"So what does that mean?"

"Bolobo, master of nature, his father was actually the first master of nature. Technically, it was not an element. And your mother sacrificed half her power for the greater good of this world. Who knows what he wouldve done if she didnt? Two chens couldve been way worse. Her fate was not hers. It's why she couldn't be cured.. Lilly was a strong woman. "

Cole looked down into his hands as the flower bloomed into a glowing lily.

"But she couldn't stop it..

you know... power can never be truly gone, Cole. Just needs to be relearned."

With that sensei wu stood and walked out of the room.

The ninja all crowded around cole on the couch, staring at the flower in his hands.

headcanon that Lily taught Cole how to mountain climb from a very young age and now every time he climbs, Cole imagines Lily nagging and correcting his form, pointing out grab-points, etc. post DOTD, Cole swears that he can hear her doing so, just barely above whipping wind and the music in his headphones

So Morro's house full of children is an au where morro lives! hurray! Garm saved him, like just before he was supposed to die, or he's just been dragging Morro back each time he runs away not sure yet.

any way so Morro survives and befriends the others in the elemental alliance, specifically Ray, Maya, Libber, and Lily since they're the closest in age to him.

Anyway, he's friends with those people, so when Libber has to leave jay behind because she's being hunted, she leaves him with Morro. Morro just lives like idk between ninjago city and the Monastery, by himself.

So he starts taking care of Jay while he looks into what's happening with Libber and Gordon. (need to re-watch Skyboud before I figure out what to do with him).

Of course since he has no Idea how to take care of a child, he goes to Ray and Maya to help him out. Thus the three kids have lots of Playdates, then Ray and Maya go missing and idk a few days to a week later Kai and Nya get taken in by Morro since he came for his visit to Ray and Maya.

So he gets Kai and Nya and starts looking for Ray and Maya, (I haven't thought on when he should find Krux yet) and while looking for his lost friends they find Zane. the only reason Morro takes Zane in is because he can feel that Zane's an elemental master (elemental bond go brrr) Nya finds Zane and brings him to Morro.

Cole gets to have play dates with all of them since Morro knew Lily, and when Cole runs away he goes to Morro. <- haven't thought on that much will get more later. so Morro takes care of all the nInja

And of course Lloyd, So When Garm falls we have two options, either Misako leaves Lloyd with Morro. or she leaves Lloyd at Darkleys and Morro just takes him when he finds lloyd. idk which to do yet.

My favorite thing to do when writing hcs or my own canon in AUs is make the previous generation of EMs mirror their children. Have some specifics:

- I hc libber and lily as bffs. this is self explanatory i love bruise platonically and romantically

-Ray and Duke (Hannah's dad) were in a short lived relationship that the latter never really got over. Hannah has an unrelenting crush on Kai that she tries desperately to ignore for a while because she's worried she'll get hurt

-Garmadon and Mei (Jackie's mom) were not only best friends but practically whatever the platonic version of a soulmate is. Jackie and Lloyd are in a relationship and would not only die but kill for each other.

-Julien (or former master of ice in canon since ik Julien wasn't part of the Alliance) was always the odd one out, very cold and aloof and lost in their own world

-Naomi (Jasmine's mom) and Maya were close friends until a falling out. When they first meet I always felt like Jasmine and Nya's relationship would fluctuate between getting along alright and admiring each other's work to their personalities clashing and causing them to bicker and argue

It just leaves so much potential not only for "haha just like your parents" but also "oh fuck. Just like your parents" because listen I just reworked the entire elemental alliance for the sake of ~ drama ~ and let's just say that for the ones who betrayed their friends some people (especially Wu) worry that history is going to repeat itself
