1. do you make your bed? I pull the covers up each morning, so basically?

2. favorite number? 3 and 7? Not sure, really.

3. what’s your job? Intake at a disability rights law firm and figure skating coach

4. if i could would i go back to school? YES. Would love to be able to afford to get my Master’s and Ph.D.

5. can you parallel park? Haven’t tried in awhile and refuse to... so, probably not.

6. a job people would be surprised i had? Segway tour guide!

7. do you think aliens are real? Probably.

8. can you drive a standard car? No.

9. what’s your guilty pleasure? I don’t really believe in ‘guilty’ pleasures, but I have a big sweet tooth. Also cheesy romances and quick reads.

( Five months ago, Lily Evans became an Olympic bronze medalist in ice dancing. Four months ago, Lily Evans was unceremoniously dumped from her partnership by her skating partner for another ice dancer. Enter James Potter, mediocre men's singles' skater. )  +[drabblefic]

One time, @women-inthe-sequel wrote on tumblr that she was going to turn the jily fandom into figure skating fans w/ the help of @lilyevaxs. I jokingly suggested that I might write something skating-related, but @thelaziestgeek​ and @lilyevaxs​ sounded excited at the prospect, so I came up with this one Christmas Eve morning. 

The anticipatory hum of the crowd did little to calm her heart.

James had been skating around for a little bit and took his place at the boards next to her as the announcer called for the end of the four-minute warm-up. She and James would be skating first in the last group.

Lily closed her eyes and tried to still her heart as she placed her hands on the barrier in front of her. She opened them when James gently called out to her, water bottle in hand. He'd just taken a drink. "Lily?"

She turned to face him. His hair was slightly tousled from the warm-up, and his eyes were like honey in the light. "Hey," she said, giving him a tight smile.

"Nervous?"

"Yeah," she answered. "A little."

James looked at her, unconvinced, his eyes roving over her face. His eyes narrowed. There was more than a bit of doubt reflected in her eyes and she knew it.

"Hey," he said, putting down the bottle. "You're supposed to be the level-headed one," he said to her. "I'm the headcase, remember?"

"You're not a headcase," she said, and gave him a genuine smile. Then she teased, "Not anymore, anyway."
