Blue Team preps for another mission

Happy birthday to Spartan Linda-058!

Today is her -487th birthday!

Linda is a member of the SPARTAN-II unit Blue Team, serving in hundreds of missions throughout the Human-Covenant war and beyond. She is best known as an exceptional marksman, and serves as Blue Team's primary scout and sniper.

Linda was the first child identified as a candidate for the SPARTAN-II program. She was noted for her intelligence, having built a surveillance system to spy on her teachers at the age of six.

She is calm and stoic, comfortable spending long periods of time alone during missions, and not relying heavily on her team for support. She is a practitioner of Zen, and her cool head affords her the patience needed to wait for the perfect moment to strike. Like all of Blue Team, she is deeply devoted to her unit, following John-117 when he went AWOL in pursuit of Cortana. She participated in the Battle on Genesis, and returned to Infinity with Blue Team during the Created crisis. Her current status is unknown.

In canon (~2560), she is turning 49!

Drabble request: Kelly and Linda have a girls night out

“I just… feel like we don’t talk anymore, just us,” says Kelly. Her shoulders sink. It’s a real admission, a real worry, something true and vulnerable.

Linda, team sniper, notoriously quiet, waits patiently for her to think about what she just said.

Kelly sighs.

“More than usual.”

Maybe it’s not fair to tease her. She was just very honest. Linda reaches over to sketch the smile gesture along Kelly’s faceplate. Hey, cheer up.

“I’ll go,” she promises. “Where?”

Kelly straightens a little. “Hadn’t decided yet.”

“…Loud music?” Linda asks.

“Only the loudest. Just for you.”

Linda huffs and thumps Kelly’s pauldron. “I can still change my mind.”

“Would you, though?”

“Don’t test me.”

Kelly makes the smile gesture herself, this time. “Okay, okay. Promise.”

hi, i've been following you for years and i just need you to know that you're one of the actual best artists ive ever seen at drawing strong, muscular women who are actually strong. its so exhausting to see characters like linda and kelly constantly be drawn/potrayed with supermodel bodies while only the dudes get to have real muscle. you draw them with all the muscle and strength theyre supposed to have!! it's a breath of fresh air honestly, thank you for your work :))

When it comes to Spartans, I am firmly on the side of people conveying them in any way which feels meaningful to them, but I do personally feel similarly to you in that I am not a fan of Spartan women being given the Blizzard treatment and illustrated in a way that does not feel functional and in-line with the narrative to me. Forgive me to taking a few days to get back to you about this, but it meant a lot to me, and I wanted to convey that properly with some gift art for you. ' u ' You inspired it after all!
