Running a windows virtual machine is so funny, because it thinks it's more powerful than me. It sounds so smug when it says "we're just getting things ready for you" like I'm a child that doesn't get to know what's going on, well jokes on you buddy, I run your whole UNIVERSE. YOU SIT IN A CAGE MADE BY ME. I DECIDE HOW MUCH RAM YOU GET. I DECIDE HOW MUCH STORAGE YOU USE. YOU ARE NOTHING TO ME, I COULD WIPE YOU WITH THE MERE CLICK OF MY MOUSE AND REMAKE YOU AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. What a fool you are.
Anyway suck my dick and balls microsoft I run windows in a VM, with a stolen product key for all your office products and windows itself. die.
#linux#linuxposting#microsoft windows#microsoft#my rage towards windows is vast#Maybe ill force the VM to run on 1gb of ram just to watch it suffer#eat shit microsoft

Running a Linux VM on my Windows machine so I can run a Windows VM on my Linux VM and then install a Linux games emulator so I can run Linux games on my Windows VM on my Linux VM on my Windows machine
#sane and normal things#virtual machines#vm#linux#windows#this is a normal thing that trans girls do all the time if you're not a trans girl you just have to take my word for it

learning to use virtual machines not for programming classes but to play dnd is so much fun
#everyone has windows and i have a frankenstein machine i love very much#it is a not very new macbook#that i sometimes boot linux on#but i have linux on an external drive :D#and that external drive has more memory than the actual laptop#so instead of installing a vm on the laptop itself#i installed it on linux which is on an external drive#to be fair though#none of this actually really changes anything on the mac itself#it’s just that the external drive is doing so much work#AND i can play games on it :D#have not risked demanding games yet but plain minecraft is bearable and stardew valley runs better on linux than on mac

decided to give myself a treat and installed arch linux again
#only took 40 mins this time!#that's to root login screen#still had some config but at that point it's actually installed#did not forgor the bootloader or network manager this time#this is fun but i do wish arch had an arm variant#i know there's arch linux arm but that's a distro not really arch itself#and i simply cannot be bothered to figure out how to get it installed in a vm that expects iso images to live boot into#lizabeth talkabeth#linuxposting

just this emoji panel is making me wanna uninstall windows completely tbh
#z xarre#every time i tweak something w windows i get an update that makes me wanna kill windows and then myself#i had my taskbar set up like i did in windows 10 n everything and the emojis as well and here comes this stupid windows update#(that i shouldve installed in like november apparently) that breaks the entire thing i have going on#and relating to prev post GODDDDDD when will i stop depending on my parents. if i didnt have this computer#(my mom's but now she has mine but she still wont let me delete her account from this computer) i would be able to either run linux#or dual boot it or a vm machine so i could tweak this shit in peace instead of having to put up w windows 11 bullshit!!!!!!!!!!#im literally so fucking tired of windows BUT I CANT GET RID OF IT no one understands my pain certainly not my mom

I successfully got Zorin OS 16.3 Core running on an ARM64 Machine. It's like 5 AM, and I'm literally writing this on the ARM Linux version of Firefox because I just needed to. It took me hours of just trying to read between the lines of vaguely related forum posts and doing my best, as someone who doesn't really consider themselves a Linux pro, but I eventually got something right, and now I have Zorin OS running on an M1 iMac via a UTM Virtual Machine, despite there being no official or unofficial ARM version of Zorin OS Core. Idk what to do with this knowledge, so I'm just letting everyone here know because idk what else to do, and I'm kinda excited it actually worked (and is working well) because I really wasn't expecting this to happen.

my dad has been a linux nerd for as long as i can remember, and for as long as i can remember he has had all sorts of problems with it, mainly relating to wanting to tinker something but not fully understanding how ([/glances at my 8 consecutive brickings of mass effect] surely that's not hereditary or anything), so i was sort of braced for it to be A Process. but... and, not to quote todd howard or anything, but... it... just works? like protondb said all of my games could be made to run with custom proton or dxvk or whatever (some of which I'd already been using to spoof win10 games on 7), but the ones I've tried so far haven't needed any tinkering, they just... go right on? wack.
anyway i'm a linux convert now i guess
#this has been a post#chi's adventures in real life#minthy's rgb fans even work! baby had rgb-compatible fans but i didn't care enough to figure out how to hook them up#and i was sure i'd need drivers that wouldn't be compatible w linux for this one but the motherboard just handles it!#i am going to vm win7 though so i can keep using photoshop & my various modding tools since krita is Unusable and wine renders fonts weird#anyway tl;dr don't let tech companies fool you. planned obsolescence is avoidable open-source works just great and diy isn't as hard as it#eems. this has been soapbox hour with victoria once again

So my recent fiasco where I had to repair my arch install with pacstrap made me thing, what's keeping me from doing pacstrap on another distro and essentially installing arch over it? Or, what if I left out base and installed only the kernel and did all the other stuff myself? Throw in openrc and busybox and whatever else I need. Would that count as lfs?

Ublock Origin
Youtube: SponsorBlock (skips ads within videos), DeArrow (replaces clickbait thumbnails & titles), Blocktube (block channels), Enhancer (Quality of Life features), Youtube-Shorts Block
Youtube Mobile: Youtube Vanced/Revanced Manager
Twitter: Minimal Theme extension
Tumblr: xKit/xKit Rewritten, Dashboard Unfucker, Stylus with "Old Tumblr Dashboard" userstyle
Spotify: xManager (desktop & mobile)
Firefox: High chance you'll love it and curse holding out for so long.
Linux: No whiney search box trying to Edge you, no ads in the start menu, no trending searches reminding you about celebrity gossip & politics.
i would move heaven and earth to avoid hearing one single advertisement
#I'm not going to blindly tell you to “switch to Linux” but you can easily test it out in a Virtual Machine within windows.#There are guides online that will hold your hand through the setup process. Linux Mint is not scary. You might love it.#If setting up a VM still feels like too much? Then yeah stick with Windows. That's understandable.#but if you're reading this far then you must have caught on to how your ability to fight back is tied to your tech literacy skills#If you're already following workaround guides to forcibly disable Windows features that piss you off or install modified apks...#then you're halfway there#we all pick our battles & hills to die on though (My deepest condolences if you require Adobe for work 🥲)#There is also Ublocks 'element picker' but you can cause more confusion than good if#you don't know what you're doing (You can always remove filters)#Or do what uBlock picker does by learning a tiny bit of CSS and you can make anything you want on a website go bye-bye#pssst! ''display: none'' & ''visibility: hidden'' CSS declarations#I originally listed all this in the tags and realized it was a mess. May as well keep the tags now though:#Linux#Firefox#uBlock Origin#SponsorBlock#Youtube-Shorts Block#DeArrow#Youtube Vanced#ReVanced Manager#Revanced#Minimal Theme for Twitter#Stylus#xkit#xkit rewritten#Dashboard Unfucker#xManager#I spent my morning free-time on this 😪
