I have a million ideas to follow as soon as I finish The Red Dress.
Now I want to follow another story that I drafted some time ago from LinxReader
I think I want to put it into practice, but I'm going to write a lot first so I can post more calmly.

The Market Part 2
Part 1
You coughed loudly as you nervously rolled your chef sleeves up. “fancy seeing you here” you let out a nervous chuckle as you ran a hand through your hair.
“Well you recommended this place….i had some time and...do you work here?” Lin was confused but a part of her felt upset. You were hiding a part of yourself from her. Was it because you felt discouraged to let her know that you were what… a cook? She isn’t that intimidating that you felt the need to hide. Now Lin was feeling even more upset.
You pulled a rag from your back pocket and wiped down the counter of the bar, thinking of what to say. Lin eyed you suspiciously then voiced again “y/n….do you work here?”
You suck in a breath and wincing a bit “in a sense, yeah”
“Why didn’t you tell me? I don’t judge if you’re a cook here” Lin looks around and notices the now almost empty restaurant with a couple of teens in the back corner enjoying their meal.
This time you let out a laugh “I’m more than a cook, Lin” setting the rag over your shoulder as you fold your arms. “I’m sorry during our hangouts I didn’t discuss my job. It’s one of the things I like to keep private.” you look around before standing across from Lin as you motion for her to sit down at one of the stools.
“I understand wanting to keep things private.” Lin relents and takes a seat. She looks around the place and notices a few things she found familiar then looks back at you. “Was this place a soup shop before? I think I’ve been here...Uh an elderly couple”
You nodded and smiled fondly as you answered for Lin “yes, Mr. and Mrs. Gaung. Sweetest folks you could ever meet. They retired a couple years back.” walking towards the kitchen to get a tea set as you carried out the conversation “I bought the place from them some things have changed from renovating. Though there are a couple of things that I still kept from them, a gift and also a bit of history on the place” walking back setting the tray in front of Lin, pouring both you and her a cup of oolong tea with jasmine. Sliding a cup towards Lin while she looked around and noticed the painting “yeah, I recognized that painting.”
“Mrs. Guang painted it and didn’t really feel like it should leave it’s home.” you brought your cup up and inhaled deeply the smell of the tea before taking a sip. “I quite like the painting and frankly I agree with her. Who am I to remove a painting from it’s home?”
“That’s an interesting take on a painting” Lin scoffs and takes a sip of her tea then looks down “not bad...oolong?” she looks up at you and you nod. “Yeah Oolong with a bit of Jasmine, it’s a bit of a blend of mine. Get them on the mountainsides of the earth kingdom.” you cashed out the group of teens and watched them walk out the restaurant before flipping the sign to closed.
“But….i bet you’re not here for some tea, Chief Beifong” you smirked as you fold your arms “what are you in the mood for? Name the dish and I’ll get the skillet ready”
Lin huffs as she shakes her head in disbelief “but you just closed the shop”
“It’s late and it’s fine. It’s just you and me now Beifong. So name the dish” you egged her on as she takes another sip of the tea “any dish?” her brow raises as she eyes you up and down. Looking at your smirk as she is trying to decide to test your cooking skills. She just now realized she has never tried your cooking. This will surely be quite the event as she thinks about what to ask for. She remembered something you mentioned the first time she met you and came to a solution.
“I want to try your ginger garlic salmon.” she smirked as she noticed your eyes widened a bit but you quickly regained your composure. “Hmm, I knew you were listening to my conversation that day”
“Wasn’t the only thing I was doing” Lin muttered behind her cup as she took another sip of the tea.
“What was that?” you called out as you looked at her and Lin shrugged. Looking back at the kitchen then back at Lin, debating whether or not to take the challenge. You smirked looking down as you took your rag and put it back in your back pocket, “you’re on Beifong”.
“Feel free to anything at the bar” you voiced out to the chief of police while you walked to your station and got your bandana. Getting the black cloth you walk over to the sink and tie it around your head then wash your hands and arms thoroughly.
While you started prepping the dish Lin looked around and found a bottle of a special blend of fire plum wine “how did you get this?” she observed the bottle then looked over at you. “What?” you voiced out as you wiped your hands onto a dish towel while stepping out to the dining area.
“This blend…it's been a while since they bottled it for shipping” Lin turns to look at you as you lean against the counter. You smile as you cross your arms across your chest while you look down reminiscing “Yeah, it’s specially imported from the Fire Nation. I got it during my travels while looking for new cuisines.” standing up then walks over beside Lin as you reach your hand out asking for the bottle. “It’s a rare wine. They only harvest the fruits during a special window” Lin remarks and you nod as you uncork the bottle and pour both of you a glass, “you know your spirits” you smile warmly at the older woman before handing her the glass. “Well when you’re bored at galas and special events that require a chief of police attendance. The label on the bottle can help entertain you” Lin dryly remarks as she looks at the other bottles on the shelf. You walk up and hand her a glass and Lin quickly shakes her head “what are you doing. We can’t drink that” she looks as if you committed a crime. You chuckle lightly and look at her confused “why not? Isn’t that it’s purpose? It’s actually really tasteful, Chief” you smile as you swirl your glass around before taking a sip. “Does rare blend mean anything to you? Don’t you save it for a special occasion or something worthy to drink to?” Lin exasperates which causes you to laugh softly. “Yes, it’s rare but what’s the point of getting it if you’re not going to enjoy it? Especially since you came all this way for some ginger honey salmon” a smile appearing on your lips as you take another sip. Lin huffs at you as she rolls her eyes “and how is that dish anyways? Did you forget or is it a burnt crisp”
In the time of the talk you almost forgot you were making the chief dinner and set the glass quickly on the counter, muttering a “shit” under your breath. “No, i didn’t forget” yell out as you rush to the kitchen. Grabbing the oven mits as you pull the fish out of the broiler. There’s some parts that are blacken but easily removable. You start setting the food on the cart and wheel it out to the tables.
“Dinner is served” you smile proudly then show Lin to a table. As she takes a seat she looks up at you waiting for you, nodding her head to the chair across from her “Are you not going to sit down?”
A slight pink rose to your cheeks as you try to respond. “I-”
“I mean…it's so much for just me and It’s weird being the only one eating. ” Lin stammers causing you to smile softly “sure, I’ll join you”
“Good” Lin looks at you and gives you a soft smile then you slide into the chair and return the smile
“Dig in.”

Now we’ve reached my Lin/Hamilton phase
trivia night
Request: oh my goodness this is so random, but can I request a lin x reader where they go to a trivia night w some of the reader’s family and lin is unsure of how they feel about him, but once it starts lin gets like every question correct and they love him, and it’s just fluffy and cute.
Words: 2063
Pairing: Lin x Reader
a/n: So, I didn’t realize until after I was done this that it was supposed to be with the reader’s family so I’m sorry! Hope you still enjoy!
“Come on (Y/N)!” Jasmine pleaded, tugging on your arm as you tried to make a break for your dressing room.
“Jasmine, it’s a couple’s trivia night. Need I remind you I am very much single.” You replied, dragging out the word single. Since you arrived at the Richard Rodgers theatre this morning your friend has been pestering you to come to the trivia night she and Anthony were hosting after the show. Now, you loved trivia as much as the next person, the only problem was that you guys wouldn’t be playing normal trivia, it was couple’s trivia.
“What about if you and Lin go together!” She suggested all too happily, trailing behind you, the skirts of her costume noisily swishing along.
“Lin and I couldn’t possibly know enough about each other to succeed, we’d lose by such a big margin.” You pointed out, finally making it to your shared dressing room and turning to face you friend.
“Well don’t come to win, come to hang out with your friends! You never hang out with us outside of this theatre. I’m hurt you know.” She was giving you the puppy dog look at this point so you rolled your eyes. You did feel a little bad. It’s true you hadn’t been spending as much time as you should with your friends, life was just so hectic between being a dancer for Hamilton and working at a dance studio.
“Fine.” You finally relented, rolling your eyes. “If you can get Lin to agree then I’ll come to your trivia night Jazz.”
“Yay! You’re the best (Y/N)!” She cheered, wrapping you in a tight hug before running off to no doubt rope Lin into it. He’d probably be a lot easier to coerce into it just because he was too damn nice. Not that you were complaining, she could have picked a worse partner for you.
…
After the show, you were exhausted. And sweaty. And your feet were killing you. And just wanted to go home, shower, and sleep. But relaxation wasn’t in the cards for you.
“(Y/N)!” A familiar voice chirped and you internally groaned. “Lin agreed to tonight! Be at my apartment for ten!”
“Alright, alright.” You sighed, smiling tiredly at Jasmine as she danced past you giggling.
After doing a few quick stretches, you slowly stripped out of you costume and into sweatpants and a sweater. You gathered your things, smiling and waving to your cast mates as they trickled out, most of them going home for the night. You were just a tad jealous.
“(Y/N)!” Someone called and you knew who it was before even turning around.
“Hey Lin.” You greeted, smiling at the man. He was slightly out of breath and looked like he had run to catch up to you.
“So, about tonight, I hope you don’t think it’s weird or anything. I know you agreed but if it makes you uncomfortable we don’t have to I’m sure Jasmine will under-“
“Lin, it’s fine.” You laughed, interrupting the man’s babbling. His cheeks flushed the slightest bit which only made you laugh more. He was cute, you knew that. He was also smart, funny, intelligent and a million other things.
“Okay, well, see ya tonight?”
“See ya tonight.” You agreed, turning back around and walking out the door, missing the way his eyes followed you.
…
You didn’t have much time in-between the show and getting to Jasmine’s apartment so you took a quick shower and threw on a pair of leggings and a sweater before rushing out of your apartment. Though you would be cutting it close, you knew there was no way you’d make it through the night without caffeine so you stopped by one of the many coffee shops on the way to grab the largest cup of coffee you could.
By pure coincidence, you recognized a familiar mop of brown hair tucked away in a beanie standing in line when you walked it.
“Lin!” You called out and the man whipped around, stumbling a bit from tripping over his own feet. “Sorry, did I startle you?”
“No, no! Okay, maybe a little. What are you doing here? That’s a dumb question, we’re in a coffee shop what else would you be doing here? And now I’m blabbering so I’m going to shut up. Hello (Y/N).” His face was once again flushed pink and you giggled.
“So you needed coffee too huh?” You asked, changing the subject to save the man from more embarrassment.
“Yes.” He sighed. “The shows plus all the interviews and other projects I’m working on has me stretched a little thin.”
“I know the feeling.” You sympathized. “The show plus teaching dance classes has me going nonstop.”
The two of you shared a look before bursting out laughing, much to the confusion of the other patrons.
“You know, we’re probably going to be late getting to Jasmine’s.” Lin warned, glancing at his phone as the person in front of the line began to order.
“Look, at least we’re going. If we’re a little late I think she can handle it.” You replied, your fatigue causing you to yawn.
“You don’t have to go, you know. I’m sure Jasmine would understand.” Lin said, concern written all over his face. The sentiment warmed you heart. He was too sweet.
“Nah, I’ll be fine once I get some caffeine in my system. Besides, Jasmine was right, I never hang out with them outside of the theatre anymore. I need to live a little, even if living a little means playing trivia.”
Lin just stared at you for a moment. It was like his deep brown eyes were staring into your very soul. He had old eyes, intelligent eyes, warm eyes. How had you never noticed his eyes before.
“Sir?” The barista interrupted, causing both of you to jump. Embarrassed, he quickly ordered and you followed suit. Despite your protests he ended up paying for your coffee too and the two of you were off. You made it to Jasmine’s at ten after and she glared at you when she swung open the door.
“About time the two of you make it!” She chided as you walked in. “We’ve been waiting for you two to arrive so we could start!”
“Leave them alone, they were probably getting more intimately acquainted.” Renee teased, a mischievous smile on her face that made you blush.
“I wouldn’t be surprised.” Phillipa murmured, grinning at your from behind her cup.
“Okay guys, if we’re done teasing let’s get this show on the road!” Jasmine exclaimed and you and Lin sat down.
You weren’t expecting to do well. Sure, you and Lin got along well enough, but you didn’t talk much outside of work and cast parties. Imagine your surprise when questions started being asked and he actually got them right. Birthday? Knew it. Favorite food? Knew it. Favorite song? Knew it.
He was single handedly carrying your team to victory. You knew a lot about Lin just from working with the man for over a year now, but your knowledge didn’t even come close to his.
“How is the couple that’s not a couple is beating the couple’s that are couples?” Anthony groaned as Lin scored your team another point by knowing how you like your coffee. That one was easy, though right? You two had just come from a coffee shop. Still, he paid that much attention to you?
“I just pay attention.” He mumbled, looking down embarrassed. You felt your heart flutter and it surprised you. This was Lin, he was sweet, and kind, and cute; you had never even considered him as an option though. You didn’t think he noticed you at all, that you were just another out of dozens of ensemble members. Apparently, you had been wrong.
“Why don’t you pay that much attention to me?” Jasmine huffed, crossing her arms and glaring at Anthony causing everyone to laugh and Lin to release the tension in his shoulders.
The rest of the night continued in much of the same way, Lin knowing more about you than expected and getting subsequently embarrassed while everyone else laughed at his embarrassment. By the end of the night you were thoroughly exhausted, having polished off the last of your coffee and Jasmine not having any to supply. Unable to support your own body weight you leaned your head onto Lin’s shoulder missing the looks your friends shared.
“Well, I think it’s time we wrap this up, (Y/N) is about to fall asleep on poor Lin over there.” Phillipa laughed, causing you to jerk upright.
“Sorry that I actually enjoy my sleep.” You shot back, stretching your arms above you head, Lin’s eyes shooting to your exposed midriff.
“Maybe Lin should walk you home (Y/N), it’s late and your tired.” Renee suggested.
“I’ll be fine, I’m a big girl.”
“It’s no problem!” Lin quickly interjected, not meeting your eyes when you glanced up at him.
“Are you sure Lin? I’m sure you have an even earlier start than me tomorrow.” You expressed.
“It’s fine, really. Besides, I’d feel better knowing you got home safely.”
“Alright, thanks.” You said, smiling up at the man. “Might as well get moving then.”
“Thanks for coming you guys!” Jasmine exclaimed happily, wrapping you in a hug and then Lin.
“This gets me out of at least three events, of my choosing.” You warned and she rolled her eyes.
“Okay, okay, fine.”
You said your goodbyes to everyone else and the two of you left the apartment.
Nothing was said for a few minutes as you walked side by side down the streets of New York. You weren’t exactly sure what to say. Lin knowing so much about you was a surprise and it made you feel…complicated.
“Did I weird you out?” Lin finally asked, hands shoved in his pockets and looking straight ahead.
“No.” You replied immediately. “I’m…flattered you pay so much attention to me. I wasn’t aware.”
“I always pay attention to you.” He admitted shyly. “It’s hard not to. Anytime you walk into a room I catch myself staring, I can’t help it.”
You were speechless. Was he saying what you thought he was saying?
“You’re just so…so,” He continued, grasping for words. “So captivating. Everything about you, the way you walk, your laugh, the way your eyebrows scrunch together when your confused, everything. I love everything about you.”
He still wasn’t looking at you and from the glow of the streetlights you could see the blush on his cheeks.
“Lin, you don’t know everything about me.” You said, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk. He stopped too, turning and finally looking at you. “Honestly there’s a lot of things you don’t know about me.”
He took a deep breath and from the sadness on his face, you could tell he thought you were about to reject him.
“But,” You started and his eyes shot up to meet yours. “Maybe you could learn some more over dinner.”
Lin’s expression didn’t change for a solid ten seconds. He was in shock. But when it finally processed for him, the grin that light up his face should have been illegal. It was too precious.
“Dinner, yes, of course. I would love to have dinner with you.” Lin babbled almost too fast for you to understand what he said.
“Maybe next time Jasmine hosts a trivia night I’ll know some things about you.” You commented, interlinking your fingers with his and smiling up at him.
“Let’s hope.” He responded, grinning down at you.
…
“What?!” You shrieked, staring at Jasmine in shock as she laughed.
“Look, we all knew Lin had a thing for you, you just needed a little push in realizing it yourself.” She said in-between laughs.
“So you set up a whole trivia night?” You asked in disbelief. You had just told your friend about you and Lin’s date and she proceeded to brag about how she knew her plan to invite the two of you to a couple’s trivia night would work.
“Was it a bit over the top? Probably. But it worked.” She sang, still grinning like a kid in a candy shop.
“Five events. I get a pass for five events.” You emphasized, crossing your arms.
“You’re the worst.” She groaned.
“Not according to Lin.” You pointed out happily.

Exams (Short Story)
Hello everyone; just ended my economics exam (which didn’t go so bad btw) and as @butlinislin told me she was on exams and most of us also are I decided to write this on my way home.
Let me know what you think about it please.
Pairing: platonic!Lin x reader Word Count: 406 Rate: All audience Warning: Spellings and grammar because I am not English and always happen.
Summary: Reader has an important exam and Lin help in the study. AU: Roommates
‘Are you sure? I don’t want to make you loose time considering you are super busy.’ you told your friend Lin.
‘It’s fine Y/N. You’ve been cursing your teacher and his entire family for 2 hours out loud.’ He laughed and took a seat next to you examinating your papers in order to see what deserved all your hate.
You had a history exam next week and weren’t able to get all those important dates on your brain because you had a lot of lyrics and scenes of the novel you were working on.
'Lin, it’s impossible. There are so many dates I can’t get in my brain. I have all those scenes and ideas and lyrics in my head that… ’
’ That’s it!’ He exclaimed looking at you with a huge smile on his lips. You looked at him in confusion. 'You have to put the temary into lyrics.’
He went to the piano taking your papers and you followed him, now curious about how he was gonna do it. He started playing and recording some samples while he looked possible combinations of words that you had to get.
After a couple of hours you had 5 diferent songs that spoke about different historical events you had to know about.
'I knew you were a genius but I had no idea until where your capabilities were able to arrive. Thank you so much for your help Lin. ’ You smiled and press a kiss on his cheek.
’ You’re Welcome’ He sang and smiled.
Soon enough you were listening to Lin’s songs all day and you took a very good grade at the test.
'Excuse me Miss Y/L/N, may I ask you something?’
'Of course sir.’
'Why were all your answers written in verse? ’ 'Because that’s how my brain works better.’ you replied with a smile. 'Have a nice day.’
When you got home and Lin asked about the results, he was so happy and proud of you.
'Not everyone’s mind works the same way Y/N. The key is find out which works better for you.’ He gave you a hug and took you to the kitchen. 'I knew you would do it so I cooked your favorite to celebrate.’
'Thank you Lin, you are the best roommate ever.’
You both had dinner between jokes and stories and you thought that having Lin in your life was the best thing about it.
The end.

If someone who's writing LinxReader see this, this is the sign that you should update. 😂 Anyway, here's some 'meh' oneshot.
••••••••••••
"I told you! Stop sending foods here in my office or asking me to have lunch or dinner with you!", she told you in a low but forceful tone. You never saw her this mad before. You looked up trying to fight the tears that might fall. You have to be strong.
"But I also said to you that I won't stop. Let me love you, Lin. I'm not asking for any return.", you move forward trying to close the gap.
"Stop. What are you doing, officer (Y/N)?! Go back to your desk and start writing some paperworks.", she walked to her chair and sit again.
These past few months, all you did was giving her foods or asking her out because you notice how she forgets to eat when at work.
"I like you Lin– no I love you.", you hold her hand but she pushed you away.
"Whatever you want from me, you won't get it."
You run your hand through your hair, frustrated. "Look, you can use you seismic sense but I'm saying the truth. I love you and I won't stop showing you that! Now, I have some patrol going on the streets, good day Chief."
You turn your back and start walking. Leaving the stunned earthbender.
You snap back in the reality when the chief starts talking— well like yelling but not that loud.
"Stop. This. Thing. Or you can kiss your work goodbye!"
You stared at her. "Is that really what you want? Pushing people who cares for you? Then fine! I'll quit this job!" You glared at her then you softened and just look her in the eyes. "But please remember, I love you. Maybe I'll just love you from afar then."
You walked out. Letting the emotions flow.
×××
It's been 8 months since you quit your job and start singing in a bar in order to survive. It's not that much but it's fine, you thought.
You step down from the stage as Jun, your suitor walks towards you and gave you a peck in the cheek. "You're always amazing", Jun said to you and you just laugh. While having some drinks, you saw a familiar jade eyes looking at you.
You look in that way and now you're staring back at her. Lin.
You don't know what to feel. After all this time, you still love her and you are pretty sure she doesn't love you but when you look at those eyes, you got confused. It looks hurt, having the feel of longing?
Just as you want to stand up and go to her, she looked away and just like you did to her...she turns her back at you.

Are you going to continue the linxreader college au???
Oh gosh, it’s been so long since I posted anything that I honestly didn’t think anyone would still be interested in the last part! I’ve had it completely outlined and pretty much 90% written for ages, maybe I can finish it and put it up for completion’s sake!

Pairing: Lin Manuel Miranda x Reader
Request: @constellationsniall “Hey!!! I just had an idea for a linxreader fic, and i was wondering if you would be willing to write it??? so my idea is that lin is hosting a ham4ham show before one of the shows. He is in love with the reader, but the reader doesn't know it, and on the ham4ham show that day he brings out a lot of the cast to sing some sort of love song (you could choose), and he seems to be singing more directly to the reader than anyone else?”
A/N: So this is my second Song fic and my third hamilcast fic so, I hope y’all like it! Requests are always open!
You took a steadying breath, looking out the window of your dressing room down at the quickly gathering crowd. Excitement bubbled up and formed into a small smile that settled upon your lips. But, along with that excited feeling, a sense of dread soon followed at the inevitable ending that would be coming in less than five hours.
It was your last performance as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds.
Sure, you’d only been playing the roles for a little over a month, but at two shows a day six days a week, you’d grown quite a fondness for, as Lin liked to call the characters, “Sober (Y/N), and drunk (Y/N)”. You’d disagreed with a scoff, but you hadn’t exactly done anything to prove him wrong. Although you hated to admit it, you knew the role wasn’t the only thing you’d miss. You’d miss the cast.
You’d quickly grown fond of your quirky partners-in-crime, there was something in each of them that drew you. To your happy surprise, they were just as ready to accept you into their family, not hesitating to give you a chance as soon as Lin excitedly went on and on about your vocal range after he’d heard you at a karaoke bar one night. If you’d have known he’d be there that night, you would’ve sang something less sexual than “Earned It”. But maybe not. You’d never forget the way he rushed up to you after the song, rambling on about his show and how, “You’d be perfect for the role of a forgotten sister and an seductive mistress”. You shrugged an okay.
Now, two months later, you were here. Sitting at the window peering down at Ham4Ham fans with a boatload of memorable shows stored forever in your mind. Shows where you played Peggy, the innocently adorable little sister. Shows where you played Maria, the not-so-innocent young mistress of Alexander Hamilton. Shows where you got to repeatedly kiss Lin...
You shook your head, a dark blush settling on your cheeks. They were just stage kisses, that’s all. You told yourself. Even if you had felt something in those kisses, there’s no way Lin did. No way he’d felt those fireworks you’d felt since the first rehearsal, since the first time his hand caressed your sides and you felt his breath on your neck, since the first time you’d entangled your fingers into his jet-black locks, since the first time you had told him to stay.
He would’ve said something by now, Lin wasn’t one to hide things. Even on a TMI level.
“Yooo,” A familiar head of curls appeared in the doorway, “How’s it going?” Daveed, dressed in a gray tank-top with ‘Fuck Gender Roles’ written in a white graffiti font and dark blue jeans, walked towards the window you were standing at.
“It’s going...” You shrugged, turning your eyes from the crowded street below to him.
He smiled, ruffling your hair like an older brother. Daveed had become one of your closests friends in the past two months as well as a protecitve big-brother. He’d constantly insist on walking you home, even if you already had an Uber. he’d walk you to the car and make you sure had enough money to get back to your small studio apartment. “Gonna miss this place? I won’t ask if you’ll miss me, I mean, that’s kind of inevitable.” He tossed his hair back with an aura of cockiness.
You rolled your eyes, still smiling. “Are you Jefferson or Daveed?”
“Neither.” He bent down, mock whispering in your ear. “I am actually Lafayette.”He made his typical French accent even thicker, causing you to giggle. “There’s my girl, no being sad on your last performance. I mean, Maria Reynolds was sad but you’ve gotta wait until The Reynolds Pamphlet to show that. Until then, you’ve got to be all ‘Hey Lin, let me kiss you and seduce you with my curves and shit’” He ran his hands slowly up and down his sides and pretended to swoon.
The action should’ve sent you into a fit of laughter, but all it did was cause your cheeks to catch fire and your eyes to widen. “I-I’m not trying to seduce Lin, I-I’m just playing the part.” You quickly explained, hoping he wouldn’t notice the blush spreading down your neck.
He cocked a brow, stopping his show. “I was just kid-” His eyes widened, “Holy shit. You like Lin. Like, like-like him.”
You rolled your eyes, internally cursing yourself for being able to blush so easy. “How eloquent Diggs.”
“And she doesn’t deny it!” He grinned, clapping his hands.
Anthony walked in, his hair already tied back but still wearing his usual plain navy-blue tee and black jeans. “Doesn’t deny what?”
You groaned. “Daveed don-”
“Her crush on Lin.”
Anthony nodded, shrugging his shoulders. “You’re just now catching onto that?”
You furrowed your brows. “Wait, what?” You sighed, rubbing your temples. “Does anyone else know?”
“Yeah, practically the whole cast can see the chemistry between you two up there. It’s kind of awkwards sometimes when we don’t know if y’alll are actually gonna start getting it on.” He chuckled, dodging the box of tissues you threw at him.
“Well, tell the man how you feel girl!” Daveed blurted.
You rolled your eyes. “Great idea Diggs, ‘Hey, I know we only met like two months ago and you’ve had to kiss me almost every night since then but I actually really like you so since I’m leaving and your schedule will be far too busy for me, want to go grab coffee? Oh, you don’t feel that way towards me and I’ve just ruined our friendship? Okay, excuse me while I go and pass out in shame.’ “ You shook your head. “No.”
Anthony smiled at Daveed, pulling out his phone and typing something. A minute later, Daveed’s phone buzzed and he started typing. This went on for a few minutes and finally you rolled your eyes.
“Guys, i’m standing right here. You aren’t as slick as you’d like to think.”
“Shh! No time for that now, we’ve got a ham4ham to perform in!” Ant declared, grabbing your hand. Daveed gave you no time to respond, quickly ushering you out and down to the back door.
“I don’t know what the hell you two are up to, but I swear if you-” Anthony opened the door and pulled you out before you could finish your threat. John had just finished his rendition of “Helpless” with Lin, the audience erupting in a mix of cheers and laughs. You couldn’t help the smile that fell upon your lips at John making eyes at Lin and Lin making eyes right back.
“Alright alright! John, stop fawning over Lin and make some noise for (Y/N)(Y/L/N)!” Anthony declared, pulling you next to Lin. The audience cheered at you, Daveed and Ant’s appearance. You gave a little wave and a smile, facing the audience so you wouldn’t have to look into Lin’s hypnotizing eyes.
“So,” Daveed began, grabbing the megaphone from Lin, “We all know it’s (Y/N)’s last show.” The audience erupted in cheers and groans, something that made your eyes start to tear. “I know, I know, we’ll all miss her. Some of us more than others.” He more muttered the last part, eyes darting momentarily to Lin before continuing. “On that note, who thinks (Y/N) and Lin need to have one last song?” The crowd cheered and clapped, screaming excited Yes!’s. You glared at Daveed, mouthing, ‘What the hell are you two up to?’ to Anthony.
He responded with a smile and shrug, taking the megaphone Daeed held out. What the hell were they planning? You looked over at Lin, who appeared just as lost as you felt. “Anybody from the audience have any suggestions?” He cupped his ear and leaned to the side as the crowd shouted so many songs at the same time. “Did I hear someone shout “Sunrise”?” Shouts of agreeance and excitement erupted and your stomach dropped. Sunrise. One of the biggest love songs from ‘In The Heights’.
You sent a glare at both Ant and Daveed, hoping they felt the fire you were trying to shower them with. This is what they’d been planning. You turned back to Lin, who smiled and shrugged.
“I’m down. Come on Nina, let’s do this!”
His confidence and smile melted your heart and you found yourself only able to nod, grabbing a mic that one of the crew handed you. You and Lin walked about five feet from each other, the audience quieting and the cast gathering around behind the two of you. Lin sent yo a thumbs up and tied his hair back. Shame, it always looked so nice down, but it looked really cute up, too.
You sent one back, clearing your throat and beginning. “Are you ready to try again?”
Lin smiled, nodding. “I think I’m ready.”
“Okay, here we go. Esquina.”
“Corner.” He sang back.
“Tienda?” You cocked a brow.
“Store.”
“Bombilla?”
“Lightbulb.”
“You sure?” you teased, smirking at the crowd. You turned back to him just as he playfully rolled his eyes and answered.
“I’m sure.”
“Three outta three, you did alright.”
“Well teach me a little more...” He took a step closer, making the space between you smaller. You took a quick breath, heart pounding at the fact that by the end of the song, you two would be mere inches from each other.
“Calor.” You took a small step forward, the crowd slowly fading as your eyes focused on him.
“Heat.” His smile grew smaller, but still remained.
“Anoche.”
“Last night.” He sang, winking at you.
You felt calor fall upon your cheeks again, but suddenly didn’t care whether he saw or not. This is the time you’d be able to express how you felt to his face, without really telling him at all. You weren’t really sure if you were Nina singing to Benny, or you singing to Lin. “Dolor.” Your voice dipped, and you tried not to let the emotions through too much. Just enough to put on a belivable show.
“Pain.” He nodded, walking forward then stopping.
You bit your lip, looking down. “That’s right.” You glanced up at him through your lashes. “Llamame.”
“Call me.”
“Azul.” It was your turn to walk, but you suddenly felt glued to your spot. You were afraid that if he saw the way you were looking at him, the way your heart was coming out in every lyric, he’d back away.
“Blue.” He moved forward.
“Amame?” You tried to make it come out as a question, but it sounded more like a plea.
Lin was only a foot away now, and he reached out and grabbed your hand. Your eyes shot up, this wasn’t part of the plan. “...Love me?” His plea matched yours and suddenly, your courage rose along with your voice.
You nodded slowly. “Perhaps...I do.”
He paused for a moment, pulling you gently to him by the hand. You couldn’t speak, couldn’t ask if this was part of the act or not in fear that if his answer was yes, you wouldn’t be able to finish the song. “Well,” He tilted your chin up so your eyes met and brushed a strand of hair behind your ear, “How do you say, “Kiss me”?”
“Besame.” You whispered into the mic you were white-knuckling.
“And how do you say, “Hold me”?” He held his hand on the small of your back, holding you as close to him as he could.
“Abrazame. Al amanecer. At sunrise.” You tore your eyes away, looking up and past the audience at the sun, hanging high in the sky.
He guided your chin back and looked deeply into your eyes, smiling nervously and tilting his head slightly. You took a breath, preparing to sing with him.
“Anything at all can happen just before the sunrise.” The cast echoed the last word, everything flowing in perfect synch.
“Sunrise.” You repeatedly, your nervous smile matching his.
Now it was his line.
You waited, along with the cast and the audience, time itself standing still. Everyone waited tensely for Lin to continue the song, you waited to continue so you could focus on something other than the way his lips were only an eyelash length away from yours or the way his chocolate eyes were gazing down into yours or-
Suddenly, his lips were on yours. And he kissed you like no one had before, slowly, tenderly, lovingly. Your eyes shut as you wrapped your arms aroujd his neck, melting into the kiss. His lips seemed to be speaking the only language you ever wanted to use after this, one of understanding, of care, of passion.
You only noticed the cheers and whoops of the audience and cast after you pulled away, breathless. You opened your eyes, unable to keep a smile from your face. Luckily, he was beaming just as hard as you were.
“Benny, I think it’s your line.” You chuckled, some of the crowd laughing with you and most of the crowd still “aww”ing and snapping photos.
“Right.” He rested his forehead against yours. “At Sunrise.” He sang.
A whole new meaning coming to the word.

Luck (Lin/Reader)
Prompt: can you do a linxreader with 17. “Relax, I’m not going to hurt you.”
Author’s Note: So much fluff that I got physically ill writing this. That’s not true, but it’s cute.
Pairing: Lin-Manuel Miranda/Reader
Summary: You and Lin are husband and wife. After a few years of marriage, you’re hoping to conceive your first child. After several unsuccessful attempts however, you take a trip to the doctor who suggests you try fertility treatment. It would be great, of course, if you weren’t terrified of needles.
Rating: T, for a tiny bit of swearing.
Warnings: If you have a fear of cute things, run.
Words: 1154
Askbox / Masterlist / What I Write
“Are you ready?” You heard Lin ask from the living room.
“Shit.” You whispered, staring at yourself in the bathroom mirror. You were at home, in only a bra and underwear as you prepared to take your first fertility shot.
Lin, your loving, compassionate husband had offered to do it for you, but that didn’t change the fact that you had a serious phobia of needles.
“Y/N?” he called out again.
“Coming!” you announced, taking a deep breath before you left the bathroom.
“Are you ready?” he asked again once you had stepped into the living room.
“No, I’m definitely not.” you replied, arms crossed as you sat beside him on the loveseat.
“Well, get ready.” he took the syringe, already full, attaching the needle to it. You shifted in your seat, looking away.
“Fuuuuuuuuck.” you whispered. “This sucks so much.”
“Relax, I’m not going to hurt you.”
“You can’t help it if you do!” you insisted. “You know what? Forget it. I’m not doing it. I’m throwing away my shot.”
He ignored your obvious reference to his work.
“No… Y/N, remember what our endgame is here.” he took your hand, kissing it softly. “Having a baby… nurturing a life into this world… not to mention, we have a list of awesome pregnancy photoshoot ideas that we can never use if you don’t take this shot.”
You groaned, finally standing up in front of him. “Okay, okay fine. Just please don’t be too rough.”
“Oh come on, would I ever hurt you?”
“... No.”
“Do you trust me?” he pressed, uncapping then needle.
“... Yes.”
“Okay, then let’s do this. Do you want the upper arm, stomach, upper thigh or…” his voice trailed off.
“Don’t even say it.” you warned. “There is absolutely no way that you’re putting that thing in one of my asscheeks.”
“It doesn’t hurt to ask.” he pointed out.
“Upper thigh. My thighs are huge, so it’ll hurt less, right?”
“Hey, no bad talk about your thighs. You know how I feel about them.”
“Yes, you love them.” you rolled your eyes, a small smile on your face. “You never stop telling me.”
“Well, it’s true.”
You stood as still as you could, holding onto his shoulder for support. Your eyes were squeezed shut, you couldn’t bear to watch him do it.
“On the count of three.” he warned. “One… two…” You felt the shot on two, promoting a squeal in response.
“Done.” he announced, tossing the needle and syringe in a nearby wastebasket.
“Why did you do it on two?! I wasn’t ready.”
“If I had waited until three, you would’ve fled the building.” he explained, placing a small band-aid over the spot.
You wanted to argue, but he was probably right. You glanced down at the band-aid, noticing a group of unrecognizable cartoon trains.
“What’s this?”
“Something called Chuggington?” he explained. “My sister said it’s really popular with her kids so I figured… why not buy a bunch?”
You shrugged, taking the wastebasket back to the kitchen before you returned to the living room.
“Was that so bad?”
“It was pretty awful.” you insisted, sitting beside him on the loveseat.
“It’s a good thing I was there to protect you.”
You sat up then, defensive. “You were the one doing it! Whose side are you on?”
He pretended to think for a moment. “I hate to turn on you but I think I’m on the baby’s side here.”
“Oh yeah? The baby that doesn’t exist yet?” you teased, nudging him. “You know we have to have sex before a baby actually exists?”
“Within twelve to thirty-six hours of every shot.” He recited the doctor’s instructions. “Wait, if you get a shot every day for twelve days, does that mean we get to have sex twelve days in a row?”
“You think you can handle all this?” you asked, swinging your legs into his lap.
“You won’t get a complaint from me.”
You leaned up to kiss him, Lin resting his hand on your lower abdomen.
“What if it doesn’t work?” your words broke a brief silence.
“Y/N…”
“I’m serious. Having to get stuck by a needle twelve days in a row is already bad enough, but what if it’s all for nothing?”
“Okay listen,” He pulled you into his lap. “I am the luckiest man in the world. I’ve been that way since the day that the smartest, kindest, most beautiful person agreed to spend the rest of their life with me.”
You smiled, feeling tears well up as he continued.
“As the luckiest man in the world, I can one-hundred percent guarantee that because of these hormone treatments, you and I are going to have the world’s smartest, kindest, most beautiful baby. Who takes after their mom, obviously.”
You quickly wiped a tear away as it fell down your cheek, a huge grin on your face.
“If that doesn’t work, my mom’s been praying to some Puerto Rican higher power for a grandchild and I think he’s overdue to deliver.”
You laughed as Lin wiped another tear away.
“Are you crying?”
“No it’s the hormones… they’re making me emotional.” you lied, though it was useless. Lin knew the truth.
“Oh good. They work fast. You’ll be pregnant in no time.”
You kissed him again before he softly kissed your lower abdomen.
“For luck.” he explained.
-
Some time later, you rushed home from the gynecologist’s office in the middle of a work day, something rather unusual for you. You knew Lin was home, as his Broadway schedule didn’t call for work in the middle of a Tuesday.
When you arrived, out of breath upon stepping in the door, Lin was in the living room, concerned at the sight of you.
“Y/N? What are you doing home at this hour?”
“I went to the gynecologist’s during lunch.” you explained, catching your breath. “I didn’t plan to, but I took the rest of the day off.”
Lin was nearly frozen with concern. “Is something wrong?”
You handed him a letter, already opened, from the doctor. “Test results.” you explained.
He folded open the letter, frantically reading each line before looking up at you for confirmation. You nodded, a huge smile on your face.
He jumped up, hugging you. “Oh my god, it worked! It worked, you’re pregnant!” He kissed you over and over again, hugging you once more for good measure.
“I love you so much.” he managed through tears building up. “Oh my god Y/N, I love you so much. I’m so grateful to be married to you. I can’t believe we’re having a baby. I love you so much!”
This time you were the one to wipe a tear from his cheek.
“You shouldn’t be surprised. You’re the luckiest man in the world, remember?”
He smiled, kissing you again before placing a hand over your lower abdomen. “I thought I was before, but I definitely am now.”

In These Arms | Chapter 1: Captain
Artwork by @tinaducain
You dodge a slab of metal sheet coming your way and run before sliding across the floor and pushing yourself up. Bringing up your fist you slam your earth gauntlet on the ground causing a wave of earth to barrel towards Lin. Lin bends up a wall of earth to block, jumps over and sends a punch your way. You lean back to dodge when Lin swings her leg under you knocking you down on your back and you groan out. Lin walks over towards you and straddles you putting your arms above your head as she pins you down. “Yield?” she smirks as she looks down at you as you admire Lin’s body on top. You nod your head after bringing your eyes to meet hers “Yeah, I yield”. Lin blushes as she catches you looking at her body and stands up and smirks then lifts her shirt to wipe some sweat off the inner corner of her eye “What’s the matter, rookie? Can’t keep up?”
As you get up your eyes look down at Lin’s amazing abdomen flexing and glistening in sweat, slightly biting your lip. Lin catches you looking again, and scoffs putting her shirt back down forcing you to focus back on “I’m pretty sure I’m no longer a rookie” you laugh as you unwind your wrappings from your arms.
“Then what are you?” Lin asks, causing you to look at Lin confused “Did you get hit hard back there? I’m a lieutenant”
“Not anymore”
“What?” your eyes widen as you drop your binding wrap on the bench. You try to think of any reason for why you’re no longer in your position. “wait...If this was about that bust on the Agni Kai last week. It’s not my fault Shin blew our cover and made it ten times more work than it needed to be.”
Lin smirks and lets out a laugh as she folds her arms, she loves making you sweat “You’re being moved up to Captain”
“Wait, I’m being… promoted?”
“You passed your civil service promotion to captain exam. Though I didn’t like how you and Mako handled the Varrick case. You chose to listen to your instincts and trust a low ranking officer rather than be blinded by your title and rank. Putting your jobs on the line was reckless, but you chose to keep going anyway. I need more people like that in my team, especially in the higher ranks.”
“Thank you, chief.”
“You deserve it”
“Captain…it is easier to say. It just rolls off the tongue.”
“It sure does”
Your eyebrows perk “Chief?”
“Captain?” you walk towards Lin and both look over at the door to make sure it was closed before putting your hands on her waist and both of you lean in and share a kiss.
“Is this why you wanted a private sparring match with me?” you pulled back a bit and grinned
“I had to knock you down a bit before giving you the news” Lin shrugs as she wraps her arms around your neck and smirks “You can knock me down as much as you want” you whisper brushing your lips against hers as you lift her up and kiss her deeply. Lin softly laughs against your lips and urges you to put her down so you both can freshen up and get back to work.
“Oh, can you get Mako so I can give him the news that he’s being promoted to detective” Lin asks as she walks out towards the door. “Sure, chief” you smile as you pack up your gym bag, and Lin smiles back “Thank you, Captain ”. Your eyebrow raises as you bite back a grin and your cheeks redden. Lin is going to be the death of me .
*
Walking down the hall after your shower and changing back to your uniform you look for Mako at his desk. “Mako, chief’s looking for you” you give him a stern look as you put your arms behind your back. Mako starts to look nervous as he slowly gets up looking around at the other officers who are snickering. “Did she mention anything” he asks as he walks around the desk and starts walking to Lin’s office. “Nope, but… good luck” you whisper but don’t look at him keeping a straight face. Once you reach the door you open it for him allowing him to step in first before closing the door after you. “Chief, Mako is here for you” you announced as Lin puts her glasses down and leans back in her chair, “Do you want the good or bad news first?” Lin looks at Mako in a cold stern face. Mako shoots you a look and you shrug “I would probably start with the bad news you’ll end it with a good note”. Mako sweats a bit and nods “Good idea.. uh the bad news chief” Lin groans slightly and leans forward in the desk “Well unfortunately you’ll no longer be needed as an officer.” Mako’s eyes widen as he hears the news “What?!? But I thought…I thought I was doing a good job on the force”. Lin waves a hand and eyes him “Well you thought wrong”. Mako looks down defeated and upset “Oh…thanks for the opportunity, chief” he turns towards the door grabbing the door handle. You turn to him and stop him putting your hand on his shoulder “Don’t you want to hear the good news?”. “No, I’m good. I don’t think anything will be good after losing a job” Mako looks down and you smirk letting a laugh escape your lips “Who said anything about losing a job? You’re not fired” Mako jerks his head over to you confused “What?”. You look over at Lin and give her a look to end the ploy and she groans standing up from her chair “Your paperwork got processed and it’s been finalized. You’re officially a Detective.” Lin gives Mako a gentle smile. Mako lets out a sigh of relief and bows to Lin “Thanks, chief. I won’t let you down”. Lin gives him a wave to dismiss him and he leaves out the office and you close the door after him. “That was good, chief” you look over at her and she gives you a look before smiling a bit “Get back to work”
“Yes, chief” you coo as you give her a salute before walking out the office closing the door after you. You walk over to Mako and give him a smile “Well congratulations are in order here, Detective.” Mako sighs and smiles “You two really had me there. How did you know?”
“Chief told me the news after promoting me to Captain. Consider yourself lucky, she told me after sparring me.”
“Oh…congrats, y/n”
“Thanks, let’s just hope we don’t have to do any more secret sting operations anymore. I would like us to keep our jobs” you give Mako a stern look as you rub the back of your neck.
“Same”
“Alright well I got to head back to work. Keep it up” you dismiss yourself and head back to your office.
*
After Harmonic Convergence you and Lin made the decision to take the chance and see each other romantically, sort of dating but you both decided to keep it under wraps for now. Your apartment was part of the buildings that got taken over by the spirit vines so youve been sort of living with Lin. Tenzin and Asami both offered you a place to stay, you figured with a lot of bodies at the air temple it would be best to stay with Asami plus it would be easier to keep the secret going and get to Lin if you stayed inside the city. After a couple of nights of not showing up to your room at the Sato estate, Asami had growing suspicions of how far the relationship had developed between you and Lin.
After kissing Lin goodnight you decide you should head back to the estate and spend the night there. Stepping into the grounds you sneak inside the mansion and creeped back to your room. A light turns on “You might as well have stayed over at this point” Asami laughs as she folds her arms sitting on a recliner. You looked over at the clock on the wall and saw it was three in the morning, you tried to keep your cool “Oh hey, Sami…I was just getting a glass of water” you stood up and rubbed the back of your neck. “Really? Seems awful like you’re trying to sneak in after spending time with your girlfriend.” She laughed some more and shook her head. “Whaaaa?! Wait…. how’d you know she’s my girlfriend?” you blush then your eyes widen and you try to backtrack “Wai--”. “Aha, I knew it! I didn’t but you just confirmed it” Asami jumped out the chair and pointed at you. “Shit…” you muttered as you hung your head down “Okay, you caught me” you put your hands in the air. “You really weren’t that slick to hide it. You come home late with your clothes all disheveled than when you left even when it looks like you try to smooth it out.” you both exchange a laugh “You happy huh?” Asami quiets down and you smile sliding your hands in your pockets “Yeah, very much so. Haven’t been this content in a while”. “Well nice going, Beifong is a catch.” She smirks. As she folds her arms.
“Asami!” you gape at her and point a finger at her eyeing her
“You can’t tell anyone. we’re keeping it quiet right now - no one can know. Especially not Team Avatar, Korra and Bolin will never shut up about it if they find out.” You groan then smile and let out a laugh.
“Why? it’s a good thing. We’ll all be supportive of it.” Asami walks towards you and puts a hand on her hip.
“It’s new, we want to enjoy it before being put on the press or hearing it from the group.” You shrug and run your hand through your hair before resting it on the back of your neck.
“I understand and respect that, and my lips are shut.” Asami assures you as she puts her hand on your shoulder.
“Thanks, I should head for bed. You should too. No more busting me….” you give Asami a glaring smile then groan rubbing your face “I should let Lin know about this… she’s not going to be happy.”
*
Walking up the steps and taking a deep breath before knocking the door and waiting for an answer. The door opens and Lin looks around “You were supposed to be at the station.” Not waiting for her to greet you when you step inside and close the door after you, “We need to talk”.
Lin folds her arms and looks at you “What’s wrong y/n” she looks at you concerned. You pace around the room a bit before looking up at Lin “I know we agreed to keep our relationship a secret, but—”
“I knew you weren’t okay with it - why didn’t you say something?” Lin snapped as she rubs her eyes. You shake your head and hold her hands into yours “I wanted our affair quiet, but Asami figured it out” you look at Lin sorry for blowing your cover. “how?”
“She caught me… she was waiting in the sitting room to catch me sneaking upstairs. Apparently she’s been keeping tabs on how many times I’ve been coming home late.” You sigh and look at Lin.
“Asami isn’t going to say a word, Lin” you assured her even though you could see in Lin’s face that she was upset and scared of being found out. “We need to talk to her. Make sure she isn’t going to say anything” she looks at you.
••
The past eight days with you have been the most fun Lin’s had in years and the blooming relationship sometimes has her feeling like a teenager. Lin asked you to keep the relationship a secret and you’ve been more than understanding and even agreed to keep it from everyone else for the time being. It surprised Lin at first at how maturely you handled it, your age did come into question as she thought you would want to show off since most young adults like to go out and be seen. She thought you would have to be convinced, but you accepted no questions asked. “Let's just enjoy ourselves first before bringing people into our affairs”. Lin heard you say as you took her hands into yours. Lin blinked surprised at how quick and easy that conversation went.
••
“Sure, I think Asami is still home” Lin grabs your wrist and pulls you out of the house and both of you go to the Sato estate.
Butler opened the door “Madam y/n…Chief Beifong” he addressed the both of you “Did you forget something madam?”you greet him as you and Lin step inside to let the door close “No, Butler we’re actually here to talk to Asami before work. Is she still here?”
“Yes, Miss Sato is in her study. If you can follow me” he starts to walk the both of you before you stop him “It’s okay Butler. I know the way to the study” you bring your arm out and guide Lin to the study up the stairs. “Before we go in there. Please tell me you’re not going to go fists in the air” you whisper as you grab the door handle looking at Lin. Lin rolls her eyes and gives you a huff before you sigh and open the door with a smile “Sami, hey, how are you doing” you force a smile as you look at Asami then look at Lin.
“Hey y/n, um Chief Beifong. Nice to see you too” she greets the both of you. “Let’s cut to the chase,” Lin butts in and your smile drops as you groan, putting your face down. “Cut to what chase?” Asami looks from Lin to you as you bring your face up and look at Asami, “We’re here—mostly Lin—to talk about the new development you’ve learned about the two of us” you motion between Lin and yourself. “Oh…” Asami sets her pen down and puts her hands on the desk as she stands up. “Well if this is about me telling anyone. Like I told y/n, I will not expose your relationship.” she speaks assuring Lin. “You’ll swear to secrecy?” Lin glares at Asami to which both you and Asami share a weird glance then back at Lin. “Excuse me?” Asami looks at Lin as she folds her arms slightly amused by the situation. “Honey is that really necessary?” you speak out only receiving a glare from Lin when you call her honey in front of Asami and you step back hiding a smile. you cover your mouth as you look at Asami and give her a soft nod to continue to play along. Asami inhales and nods “Yes, I’ll swear to secrecy” she puts her hand up and promises. “If I ever find out anyone finds out that they heard it from you I will arrest you for treason.” Lin peers over Asami in an intimidating tone. Asami looked over Lin’s shoulder, and you shook your head quickly assuring her that Lin was bluffing. When Lin looks over at you, you quickly stop and just give her an innocent smile. Asami got the gist and assured Lin that she will not speak a word about your relationship to anyone. “Oh so Raava help me” she gave Lin a soft smile.
Driving back to the station you peer over to Lin as she sits in the passenger seat, “Well I think that went well…. everyone made it out alive, unscathed.” You joked softly as you turned back into the city limits as Lin doesn’t say anything. “Lin, if anyone had to find out from the group. I say we were pretty lucky that it was Asami. Anyone else and news would have spread faster than we could take a breath.” You look over at Lin again and she seems to be calming down and sighs deeply “you’re right, Asami is the least of our worries in that bunch”. You smile reaching over to give her hand a kiss, hearing Lin give in as you pull up to her apartment and get out to get to your cycle. “I’ll make it up to you for my mishap” you give Lin a smile as she rolls her eyes and slides over to the driver’s seat. “I’ll see you at the station” she calls out as you say it back while you put your helmet on and give her a thumbs up as you follow behind.
*
Looking over at the new recruits as they train and you’re barking out orders watching out for their stamina and agility through the course. You sigh at how many of them aren’t any better than the ones the previous day. “Alright head to the showers. You all are pathetic.” You bark out as an officer hands you a clipboard, “These recruits aren’t ready to go out onto the field” you mutter going down the list of recruits, writing down notes besides ones that caught your attention and others who were a mere disappointment. “Captain, the Chief is looking for you” an officer salutes standing at attention and you pinch the bridge of your nose “Very well”. Handing the recruits over to another colleague to beat them into shape you make way over to Lin’s office. Some officers acknowledge you and greet you as you step into the office before closing the door with a soft click. “Chief” you greet Lin but notice she’s on the phone and puts her finger up to quiet you. You stay standing while putting your hand behind your back as you hold onto the clipboard. Another minute and Lin finishes the phone call and returns her attention to you “Captain, how’s training with the new recruits?” You step up and hand her your clipboard “It’s hell. It seems like every time we let recruits join they get worse”. “You just have to train them harder” she reviews your comments and notes, “what about this one…uh Sheng, it says he shows promise.” You nod as you take a step forward towards her desk “Yes, he’s one of the better ones. smart, agile, still needs improvement though.”
“With these spirit vines we’re going to need more officers” Lin groans then puts the clipboard down “These recruits just need to get whipped into shape. They’ll be ready for the field” you reach down and get the clipboard. “You seem to be fitting well into your new rank” Lin looks over at you and smiles. “It’s an adjustment but I’m fitting in well” returning her smile.
*
Peace and tranquility fill your mind as you breathe in the evening air of Republic City from Lin’s terrace. “Evening, Captain” you hear your girlfriend’s voice coming up behind you waking you from your meditation. You smile then open your eyes to lift your head up and look over to see Lin walk to your side as she sets down a cup of tea on the table, “Evening, Chief”. Looking over at the cup you reach over and take it close to your lips and smell the aroma
“Spearmint?” you look over at Lin before taking a sip. “Figured you’ll want to end it with some stress-reducing tea”.
“Thank you. that’s considerate of you.” you take a deep breath before looking over at Lin “Funny story…. Bumi is planning to knit his spirit pet a sweater”
Lin scoffs a laugh “really? Do spirits even get cold”
“I don’t think so, but it’s sweet”
“It’s dumb”
“It gives him something to do. Tenzin mentioned he’s retired from the United Forces”
“Tenzin isn’t all glad about it. He still wishes Bumi rejoins.” Lin smirks causing both of you to chuckle while continuing to enjoy the night.
“You should join me for a session. It would help with the stress you’ve been having.” you smirk into your cup as you take another sip. “I have other ways to relieve stress if you want to join me for a session” she gives you a sly smirk as she leans against the doorframe “If it’s under my responsibilities then who am I to refuse my beautiful girlfriend” you eye Lin and watch her movements. She turns away from you and slowly walks away bending off her armor as she makes her way to the bedroom, “I’m waiting, Captain”. You bite your lip as you watch Lin walk away and set your cup down on the table. Quickly stand up, stepping inside the apartment and close the door before rushing after Lin. You step in the bedroom and grab Lin’s waist and turn her around to face you and kiss her deeply. Lin wraps her arms around your neck before bringing her hands down and starts grazing her nails up your abdomen lifting the hem of your tank up. The sensation of her nails causes you to gently bite her lower lip and a soft moan escapes her lips. She lifts your tank up and pulls it off of you before she plants her palm on your chest and pushes you back with a knowing smirk on both of your faces.
*
Sitting up in bed swinging your legs over the side as you look for your tank, Lin looks over and softly brushes her fingers up your back causing you to shiver as you fix your tank to put it on. “Just when they’re about to heal I end up opening them back up” she smirks as she looks at the scratch marks she’s left along your back “I wonder why” you deadpan “You should get them healed by a healer.” She mutters as she brushes her fingers along a fresh scratch mark “And say what? That I got attacked by a possum-chicken?” you laugh “Besides I like the burn, it’s a reminder of who put them there” you bite your lip as you turn over to look at your lover and lean towards her “You,” you growled as you dip your head to catch her lips, “Are the most amazing woman I’ve ever met.” you kissed her again, lingering for a moment before searching for your tank and slipping on some boxer style underwear letting out a groan as you get up. “I’m going to get us some water, feeling quite parched from that backbending session” you smirk and quickly duck out of the room before Lin can throw a pillow at you.
Sitting back in bed after quenching your thirst and handing a glass to Lin then looks down at the cup before speaking “It’s nice that at least someone knows about us and they that support it…it makes it feel more real” you bring the cup back up to your lips and take another sip. “Real?” Lin peers over at you as she sets the glass on the nightstand which causes you to nod “Yeah, like this isn’t some sort of evil dream that I don’t want to wake up from”. You gently tap on the glass before setting it aside. “It’s not a dream” Lin whispers as she looks at you and you return her glance, the both of you lean in and share a kiss “Thank the spirits it’s not” you mumble before cupping her cheek and deepening the kiss. Lin licks your bottom lip before pulling back “I need to clean up” she mumbles as she gets off the bed and walks to the bathroom.
You bite your lip and smile as you watch Lin walk away as she wraps her robe around her body heading towards the bathroom. Lin has been far more open to you and affectionate behind closed doors than before. You were wondering whether Harmonic Convergence had anything to do about it or the fact that Lin got laid. I’m going with the first option. If it was Harmonic Convergence you have to make a plan to thank a passing spirit.

when i look at you
Request: linxreader where the reader is a a member of the hamilcast. Lin and reader have grown close over the course of the show. reader gets nervous every night before the show, and lin knows this, so he goes out of his way to make her smile and laugh and relax before the show. Little does she know that lin does this because he is in love with her. In fact everyone in the cast thinks it's completely obvious!
Pairing: Lin x reader
Summary: Fluff!!
Warnings: Cursing
You tugged at your corset anxiously, rapidly drumming you fingers on any surface you could find. Your bottom lip twitched and your foot was tapping at a mile a minute. It was just about 10 minutes until you would be called to your places - just about 11 minutes until you threw up on the stage of the Richard Rogers theater.
Makeup was putting the final touches on your look, officially transforming you into Angelica Schuyler. You closed your eyes and began to shift into your character; you always attempted to fake at least a bit of the female revolutionary genius’s confidence. The only thing that got you through the shows without dying from your nerves was pretending you were someone else. Well, that and -
A soft, warm voice interrupted your train of thought and a pair of arms wrapped around your waist from behind. You immediately knew who it was. Lin. The Hamilton writer and well, Hamilton himself had always intimidated you from your first audition. You were in awe of his insane talent, and you often had felt too stupid to even speak in his presence. One night, Phillipa had encouraged you to let loose, claiming that she would take care of you and get you home. Not an hour later, you were wasted and Phillipa had already gone home with some guy she met. So much for looking out for you. Lin had immediately come to your aid; he dutifully brought you to his own apartment and let you sleep on his bed while he took the couch. Since then, the two of you had been inseparable. You no longer felt awkward or inferior around Lin, and were able to talk about literally anything.
You happened to get extreme stage fright before every show. It was like clockwork - as soon as you got into costume, your stomach would begin to churn and you’d lose feeling in your hands and feet. Lin, being the amazing person he is, noticed your feet incessantly bouncing and your eyes darting back and forth nervously eventually. Now, he considered it his duty to distract you before the show every night. He’d tell stupid jokes, hug you, have deep conversations - anything to get your mind off your nerves. Lin would also dramatically improvise his blocking and dancing in order to get close to you on stage. You’d feel a hand caressing your arm or a quick squeeze on your hand, and you’d know that it was Lin. The cast had learned to adjust to Lin’s little improvised adjustments, but he’d occasionally cause a huge mess on stage in the process of going to you. Tommy wanted to kill him.
Your attention shifted back to the strong arms that were encircling your waist. You threw a glance over your shoulder, where Lin’s chin was situated. You could feel his stubble grazing over your neck, sending shivers down your spine.
“God, (Y/N)! You’re shaking,” Lin murmured; a pout appeared on his face. You shrugged lightly, careful not to displace the head resting on your shoulder.
A small sigh escaped you. “I know, I know...” you grumbled. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t rid yourself of the queasy pre-show feeling. “I don’t know what it is.”
Lin responded by tightening his grip around your waist; you leaned into his embrace. The two of you stood like that, Lin’s chest pressed up against your back, for a few minutes. The loudspeaker called out “Places, everyone! Get in your places,” and shattered the peaceful feeling you had finally developed. You gulped, feeling like the floor had dropped out from under you.
Lin’s arms slid off of your waist; you longed for the warm contact as soon as his skin left yours. “C’mere,” he voiced gently. His hand found it’s way onto the small of your back as you moved closer to him. Suddenly, the ground really did disappear from underneath you. Panic shot up in your chest before you realized that you were being cradled in Lin’s muscular arms, pressed against his broad chest. The sensation forced a smile onto your face. You gazed up at Lin, who was dutifully carrying you to your starting place, and grinned.
Lin placed you next to Phillipa and Jasmine, your fellow Schuyler sisters, and whispered a quick “good luck, you’ll do great” before heading off. You attempted to wipe the dopey grin off your face before turning to face the two women behind you. Both had their arms crossed and eyebrows cocked, incredulous looks directed at you. “Um, hello to you both as well,” you laughed gently. “Have I missed something?”
Jasmine scoffed dramatically and Pippa wrinkled her nose. “Have you missed something?” Pippa repeated. “Have you missed something? Oh, I don’t know. Just maybe the fact that Lin looks at you like the sun shines out of your ass and you’ve never realized it. Not once.” Your mouth dropped open a little bit in shock; you stammered as you scrambled for the words to say, but they didn’t come.
Jasmine snickered at your baffled, silent response. “Girl, he’s head over heels. There’s no doubt about it,” she added gleefully. “You’ve seriously never noticed the way he acts around you?” You shook your head in earnest. “I mean, Lin’s a happy guy in general, but it’s like he’s on steroids when he’s around you. I’ve never seen him so...blissful.”
Your eyebrows furrowed as you attempted to piece together this newfound information. Lin was interested in you? “How do you guys know?” you asked suspiciously. “I’m not gonna act off some hunch the two of you have.”
Jasmine and Pippa began to laugh heartily. “Some hunch?” Jasmine repeated in disbelief. “Oh, hon. It’s a confirmed fact. Ask anyone else in the cast.” With that, the music to Alexander Hamilton began and the three of you were forced to fall silent. You began the show feeling more confused than ever.
After Yorktown, you decided to catch Daveed before he began the change into his Jefferson costume. He immediately welcomed you in his dressing room after you knocked, offering you a seat on the couch. The man proceeded to busy himself with navigating the dozens of buttons on the bright magenta outfit. “I have a question,” you began slowly, considering how you’d state your inquiry. Daveed nodded, his eyes trained downwards on his vest. You decided on being candid with your costar, opting for the complete truth. You asked, “Is Lin in love with me?”
“Yes,” Daveed replied without hesitation, his tone casual. He hadn’t even looked up from his task. He had answered as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. You spluttered incoherently in shock, causing the man in front of you to look at you. “What?” he asked with a grin. “Is this news to you?”
Next victim was Anthony. You stopped the curly haired man immediately after his exit following Laurens’s death. The two of you walked to his dressing room together and you asked the question - “Is Lin in love with me?” Your inquiry made the freckle-faced boy burst into howling laughter.
When he finally calmed down, he turned to look at your genuinely worried face and began cackling once again. “You’re too funny, (Y/N),” he jested. “I’ve been waiting for this day for so long.”
You looked at Anthony in surprise. “About how long? Just out of curiosity,” you implored. The mischievous green eyes met yours. “It’s difficult to remember. Maybe 4 or 5 months now.”
For your third target, you decided on Chris. You entered his room during intermission, ready to ask, when he interrupted you. “Yes, Lin is truly, insanely in love with you. He’s got it bad,” the man informed you before ushering you out of the door.
“But how did you-”
“If you don’t mind, I have to get changed.”
The door was slammed behind you and you were left in the hallway alone.
You asked anyone you could find - Oak, Tommy, Ariana, Andrew, Thayne, Jonathan, Morgan, and more. You even asked Carleigh, who had left the show last month and was visiting that night. All of the answers you got confirmed what Jasmine and Pippa had said - Lin was extremely, and obviously, in love with you. It seemed to be apparent to everyone. Everyone except you, that was.
After bows, you paced in your dressing room nervously. You contemplated how, or if, you’d ever discuss this revelation with Lin. What were you supposed to do when you found out your best friend was in love with you?
Suddenly, you heard a rapid knock at the door. You hesitantly called, “Come in!” Just as you had expected, a smiling and excited Lin burst in the room. His eyes settled on you, and that’s when you saw it. You witnessed his eyes fill with light and wonder and joy and all things good and pure. You really took in how his entire face softened, how the sleep deprivation immediately disappeared and youth was restored to his features. You observed how his grin multiplied in size, and you knew. That was the look they were talking about. Lin was looking at you as if the sun shone out of your ass, and you had never noticed it before.
“Tell me,” you murmured, a puzzled looked working its way onto Lin’s features. “Tell me how you feel about me.” He looked as though he was about to crack and reveal himself, but he kept his cool.
“Well, you’re my best friend and I think you’re really gr-”
“Lin. Tell me how you feel about me.”
“I was, you-”
“Stop that!”
Lin looked startled; that might have been the most aggressively you had ever spoken in front of him. Hell, that might have been the most aggressively you had ever spoken in your life. “The way you look at me,” you began shakily. “T-that’s not a friendly look. That’s a ‘i love you more than anything’ look. A ‘i want you to be mine’ look. Sometimes a ‘i want to bend you over that and have my way’ look, but mostly the other two. I didn’t realize it before, but it’s been pointed out to me and I can’t ignore it. Don’t fucking tell me I’m your best friend.”
He stood there, mouth agape, shocked into silence. You peered up into his big, brown eyes, which were now growing wet. Lin’s eyes never left your face. “W-well...the things you’ve perceived from my gazes are all true facts,” he gulped, his fingers fumbling with the hem of his jacket nervously.
You began to walk briskly towards him and before you knew it, your mouth was on his. Your lips collided passionately; his hands found their way to his favorite spot on your hips. His eyes fluttered closed in the most content way. Your arms snaked around his neck, pulling him closer to you. You eventually pulled away reluctantly, Lin’s lips following yours as if they were searching for contact.
You looked up at Lin, suppressing a smile, and he gazed back down at you adoringly. “I am absolutely, one hundred percent in love with you. God, I thought you’d never notice, but I’d wait forever for you.”
“I love you too, Lin. I’m sorry it took so long for this to happen.”
The two of you were interrupted by a wolf whistle from the hallway, where you noticed the door was slightly ajar. Standing in the corridor with an uncontrollable grin was Anthony. “Yes! Yes!” he shouted before sprinting down the hallway. Seconds later, after incoherent yelps from the freckled man, the two of you heard a chorus of screams from down the hall. Your phone was flooded with texts.
Pips: HAH!
Jazzy: So, might be a bad time....but i told you so
Ant: *10 different bitmojis depicting his excitement* By the way!! My man has a thing for spanking. You didn’t hear it from me ;)
Chris: I find a boastful text a bit untasteful, so congratulations
Daveed: Our little babies have finally found their ways! :’)
The Incredible Oak: Cuties
Leslie: It’s about fucking time.
The next morning, you woke up to golden rays of sunlight washing over Lin’s sleeping figure. You knew you would never be happier than you were in that moment.
