I wanted to try something light, and my sibling got me into Scott Pilgrim, so… here we are…

Scott Pilgrim - Holding Hands

Scott

He always asks before holding hands

At first it’s verbal, but after a while he just starts holding out his hand with wide puppy-dog eyes

He absolutely RADIATES when you comply

He gets this massive grin and keeps glancing at you with hearts in his eyes

To him it’s a way of showing you’re together, plus it’s physical affection, which he loves

He likes to hold hands in public more than in private

He’ll swing your arms merrily while you walk along the sidewalk, maybe even humming a little tune

You will have to ask him to let go of your hand; he gets so lost in his joy that he doesn’t think to let go (even if you try to pull away)

“Uh, Scott? My hand?”

“Hm? Oh, you want it back. Right. Haha.”

At least his hands are always soft (from gamer sweat) and warm

Wallace

Holding hands isn’t a big deal for him

It’s not really a show of affection for him, just something random he does when he feels like it

He’ll just grab yours casually, not caring who sees

He won’t even pause his sentence/task/whatever he’s doing, he just grabs it and carries on

He thinks it’s adorable if you get all flustered

He WILL tease you about it too

“What’s wrong? Aw, are you embarrassed?”

“Shut up…”

“Love you too.”

His hands are sooo soft, with nicely trimmed nails, and they smell like expensive lotion

He LOVES holding hands

He acts nonchalant about it in public, but he’s beaming on the inside

He thinks it’s cute :)

He also uses it as a way to show you’re his (both in a “back off” way and a “look at my smoking hot s/o” way)

“Um, hello? They’re literally holding my hand. Back off, pal.”

In private he shows how he feels a little more, with a little smile playing on his lips as he squeezes your hand

Just chilling on the couch while holding hands is one of his favorite things in the world

(Also when in private) he compliments your hands

His hands are a just a little rough, and he keeps his nails trimmed really short

Holding hands is mainly a territorial thing for him

He’ll only grab your hand when he knows people are watching

He might also use it to “prove his affection”

In reality he doesn’t really like it at all

And you can definitely guess as much: he’ll sigh when he takes your hand, and the way he holds it… it’s like he’s afraid you’ve got diseases

“Did you wash your hands?”

He’ll begrudgingly place a kiss on it anyway

But his hands are very soft and clean, and he always has a killer manicure

She thinks it’s cute, plus she likes to show you off

So she mainly does it when in public

Her hands always smell like fruity lotion, which she uses often to make them silky smooth :)

She insists you also use the lotion, especially if/when your hands are calloused

She’ll continue to use it like you’re not holding her hand

Top 5 favorite horror movies and why? (I’m not that well verse in horror genre so this is as close to a horror ask I can get rn but I’m curious)

HOORAY OKAY i can't order my babies in terms of favorite-est so this is in no particular order

child's play 2, obviously; it's the best movie in the chucky franchise, it's got that comedic charm but still drives the horror home. it's kyle's introduction, so we get to see a sibling dynamic develop in real time between her and andy. plus the kills are just very interesting. how's it hanging, phil? is iconic.

escape room (2019); i rewatch this one an unhealthy amount, it's ingrained into my psyche. it has mostly shit reviews but it's five fucking stars for people with taste! ZOEY DAVIS defeats the forces of EVIL with FACTS and LOGIC! like zoey says, the game is designed so they always win, and she is consistently the only one that decides to play by her own rules, which is what earns her her life in both movies! i just love its outro, too- 

pet (2016); i'm obsessed with its weirdo philosophy on love. with quotes like all the girls in the world and you get a hard-on for me? and you think that's what, a coincidence? you and me, we were born to do this, holly affirms seth as, essentially, her soulmate. but holly's love language is sacrifice- that is the only way she'll believe seth truly loves her. it isn't until he cuts off his finger and kills a man to keep holly encaged that holly accepts his love for her. because as much as he likes to pretend it wasn't so, the only way sociopathic holly can love is through acts of sacrifice. seth is supposed to be the one breaking holly down- holly's a girl he's keeping in a cage, after all- but holly is smarter than him, she's not alone, and she's far more ruthless. they're in love, your honor. here's a webweave and a playlist about it<3

gerald's game (2017); this one takes my breath away. people say it tampers off at the end there, but they don't fucking get it! the moonlight man being real is just another trauma that jessie told herself wasn't reality; accepting his existence and confronting him, realizing that he's just small and not even worth her time? it shows how far she's come in grasping the full reality of her father's abuse, that it was abuse at all, that it changed her entire life. i could go on and on about color in this film, but it would just turn into a repeat of my letterboxd review.

freaky (2020); it's so fun, i used to rewatch it constantly, i <3 men possessing women, millie is a fucking piece, this comedy horror just hits the spot. the deaths are so good and so are all the homages to classic horror movies. i literally have your touch makes this pussy drier than sandpaper you fucking monkey, i can't wait to kill you hung up on my wall and that is not a joke.

GREAT QUESTION!! i have a lot to say abt all of these so sorry for my ramblings in advance but in no particular order we have:

1. MCR Boston2 - its hard for me to pick my favorite of my MCR shows but the setlist for this one juuuust pushes it over my first show i think. got to gear sooo many of my faves that night- SCARECROW and Deathwish and Summertime and Boy Division and Best Day Ever and Cancer!!!!! they played a lot of danger days song which obviously i fucking LOVED and idk something abt Famous Las Words really got to me that night. maybe its bc even tho our seats were kinda shitty that meant i could see basically the whole crowd as well as the stage and i just remember feeling so at home like "oh yeah. you all understand too huh?". i was also dressed as party poison that night so a lot of cool people came up to talk to me lmao

2. Set It Off at the Palladium for the Dopamine Tour - my most recent time seeing the boys AND MY FIRST TIME MEETING THEM!!!! they were all so sweet and they played an acoustic version of Bleak December which had me Felling Things. AND THEN THE SETLIST FOR THE SHOW ITSELF WAS INCREDIBLE AND THEY FUCKING PLAYED MISS MYSTERIOUS WHICH US LIKE MY FAVORITE SONG EVER OF ALL TIME AND ID RATHER DROWN WHICH IS ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVES AND FUCKING ILL SLEEP WHEN IM DEAD WHICH WAS MY ANTHEM IN MIDDLE SCHOOL- and also Scene Queen opened and she was fucking spectacular and im really glad i lost my dad in the crowd before her set bc i lost my shit screaming along with her sings and he Did Not need to hear that 💀

3. Fall Out Boy at Darien Center - first time seeing fob the seats were so fucking good and i met so many cool people AND HEARD HEADFIRST SLIDE AND YOURE CRASHING AND 27 AND GET BUSY LIVIN AND- also i was at the park connected to the venue and i fucking left before the rest of my family to get some rest before the show. and literally as soon as i get to the fucking hotel my dad texts me a picture of PETE FUCKING WENTZ. IF I HAD JUST WAITED LIKE TEN MINUTES I COULDVE MET PETE WENTZ BUT NOOOO I WANTED TO REST SO J WOULDNT GET A HEADACHE IM STILL NOT OVER THIS MY DAD WHI DOESNT LIKE FOB SAW PETE WENTZ AFTER I HAD BEEN JOKING ABT JT ALL DAY GOD HATES ME BUT ITS FINE BC AT LEAST I GOT TO LOSE MY SHIT TO HEADFIRST SLIDE ONLY SONG EVER OF ALL TIME

4. Set It Off at Toad's Place for the Welcome to Elsewhere Tour - yes of course they're on here twice idc if theres other vands i could mention THEYRE THEM. this show was incredible, i managed to push my way almost to barricade by the end of the show AND i caught one of zach's guitar picks!! the openers were both killer too, but Cherie Amour in particular stood out to me so obviously i bought a CD after their set (which was SIGNED and i got to meet/take a photo with Trey and Brendan and they were both so nice it was awesome)

5. The Used & Pierce the Veil (i forget where this was and im too lazy to look it up rn 💀) - VICS VOICE LIVE HELLO????? HOW DOES HE SOUND LIKE THAT IM IN LOVE WITH HIM RAAAAGH- and look even tho i love ptv im much more of a casual fan when it comes to them so it was nice bc i had fun during their set but still had so much energy left over for THE MOTHERFUCKING USED. YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW LOUD I WAS SCREAMING WHEN BERT CAME ON STAGE MAN AND GE WAS HOLDING A TRANS FLAG WHEN HE WALKED OUT AND THAT ALONE NEARLY MADE ME CRY THEY WERE SO AMAZING IM VERY INCOHERENT ABT THIS SHOW BC I LOVE THEM SM IT WAS SO FUN AND I CANT WAIT TO (HOPEFULLY) SEE THEM AGAIN NEXT MONTH

I love him. Hes a damaged hottie whos a murder and a softie (much like Guillermo). I cried when he was in the blanket for. Taika seems to be immensely annoying as a person rn (blackfish wife and not apologizing for terf ass shit from 2013-14) but ill always love his acting in this. Thanks Kayvan for teaching me to separate the character from the actor

Miss Fisher (Miss Fisher)

I dunno why i took so damn long to watch this show given i love feminists, 1920s, and sassiness. She is the og bamf. And id kill for any part of her wardrobe

Val (Uncle)

Val is so awesome (nvm gorgeous con o neill with his titties out owning a male strip club and being a good dad). Val isnt a main character and you can tell by the end they were figuring reasons to keep him (Val identifies as male) around. His relationship with Andy is really great too. Starts out pure hatred, for bothering his daughter (Andy’s ex). Ends with them being good buds

Laszlo Cravensworth (WWDITS)

Much like ofmd this list could be pure wwdits if not per fandom. Im going with Laszlo. Id fuck him today. Id also fuck matt berry today good god that man is sexy af. Believe it or not pre wwdits i hadnt really heard of him (i hate it and im american so most of it passed me by). Hes a good dad, unlike nandor he found a way to grow even if small. Franklin is what u get when u mash Frank Reynolds with Pam Poovey. The Critic was a brief but shining star and its Simpsons crossover gave us some great lines. Franklin was rich as piss, former govenor of new york, and completely well despite being a weirdo (theyd tell ppl he had a stroke to explain his personality like nandor). I love Franklin

Peter (The Great)

I call The Great straight Ofmd. Same loose history as ofmd about Catherine the Great. Irl she killed Peter. In the show she imprisons him. He starts as an enemy and does shit as dumb as Nandor (kills her lover cuz she actually loved him despite peter fucking everything). BUT then he takes a Laszlo turn: hes deeply excited to be a dad and is actually a good dad to the point other rich ppl are like ew wtf? Hes also extremely wtf?

PYROTECHNICS BAYBEEEEEE. insert "hi I'm josh and i like fire" because me the fuck too. literally in the nosebleeds and still felt the heat from the flames. it was so fucking cool

they had fireworks at the end too and it was super pretty. loved it

all in all gretallica was so much fun and even tho the drive up made my back hurt and i wasn't nearly as close to the stage as i usually am for concerts it was a wonderful experience

Streetlight Manifesto... The Hands that Thieve got me out of one of my weirdest music eras. I mean it's ska punk it's not too far from the uh protest songs I was listening too, but ska was more palatable than most of the shit that I was really into for a bit. Groundbreaking, god i've listened to this guy for so long... I think all his music is great but the Anarchy I & II are my little guys I listen to them all the time still. They practically got me through quarantine... Uhm if I had to recommend a specific songs instead of just saying listen to the Anarchy Albums maybe VIP and Beautiful people. Those two were my favorites but jsut to get somthing from anarchy listed too uhm anarchy or media star

The Wrecks god another band I listened to a lot during quarantine... Fvck Somebody and Panic Vertigo are my #1s forever but I really like their new music too. Unrequited and Sonder came out at such a good time for me, unfortunately that means I have like four writings wips that have titles that are just the lyrics of those songs...

Air Traffic Controller is another band that made quarantine bearable for me god why have the last three just been quarantine time killers. Anyway I listen to Creature of the Night a lot because I love being thematic with my music when I pull all nighters. Uhhhh other than that Anybody got a light has quickly become one of my favorites from them too

Atarashii Gakko!! This is the only non english band I'm actively a fan of rn. My friends are like big into like Kpop and I'm more of a cpop or jpop guy but like even then I almost never find a band and get super invested. but raghg the choreography and vocals just everything really scratches my brain. I really like watching their dance practices idk its just so fascinating to me. uhm okay uh Fantastico and NAINAINAI yeah those i recommend them :]

Hi rika! I'm genuinely so sick rn but it finally gave me the time to put together some song recs! (Also little Mavis update: you and my oldest sister are on the same wavelength cause she recommended the name Mavis bc of the hotel Transylvania character(she wanted to name her Selena but we said it had to be spooky so she settled for Alex or Mavis since they were played/voiced by her) she's still small and cute but she's also a demon who keeps shredding my arm :/)

omfggggg paige I just saw that you watched scream 6!!!!! i’m really glad to hear that you liked it!!!! i really enjoyed it too (i’ve seen it twice now actually).

SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR SCREAM 6 NOW SO FOR ANYONE WHO HASNT SEEN IT YET KEEP SCROLLING:

I really liked the beginning and end scenes the most. At first I was like “Damn. That’s new” when I thought they just straight up revealed the new killer but it was even better tbh. That whole “Who gives a fuck about movies?!” line too was just soooo good. Perfectly delivered (as usual).

And I like Sam’s character even more now. I thought she was cool in Scream 5 and the whole “daughter of a serial killer” concept is interesting but what makes it better is her clearly being a bit.....“unhinged” as well, so to speak (honestly got chills when she was in the costume and they played the ghostface theme when she appeared behind Bailey). I also liked that this movie paralleled Scream 2 a bit (Scream 1 & 2 are my favorites but this one is close).

My only complaints were 1.) ethan being a killer. I felt it was too obvious....plus I like cute, dorky characters so I felt a little betrayed ngl. 2.) Ghostface definitely should’ve had the shotgun more. Cause let’s be real, ghostface coming at you with a knife isn’t actually THAT terrifying esp considering how is always easily beat up (Gale literally used a book to hit him at one point 😭). Ghostface with a shotgun though??? Pretty terrifying tbh. And finally 3.) I was salty that the only one from the “friend group” that died was (of course) the asian girl.....as a fellow asian girl it just made me a bit salty lmaoooo (the death scene itself though was very well done and brutal too).

And imo ghostface may not really be the “scariest” horror movie villain/killer/slasher, but to me he is definitely one of the most ICONIC.

So what was your favorite part of the movie, Paige?? 😅 Another fave scene of mine was Gale and Sam talking about “making your own family” and it kinda got to me when they played Dewey’s theme in the back 🥹😭

omfgjsh. i should have realized i would get a bunch of asks abt this. ok never confirmed. but the lyrics are like. things that are about having aids but not explicitly. like ok they sound like they COULD be about being gay and dying from aids but like youre not sure. but like also i think theyre specific enough that they cannot be about anything else. like they are 60% about aids. not enough that people will a) notice or b) understand if you’re not gay/ thinking about gay ppl. but enough that when you take the lines out and close read them they logically don’t really make sense if you say no this CAN NOT be about aids.

3. my sisters and my brothers - more common in the 90′s gay liberation political slang. i.e. calling each other lesbian sisters trans sisters gay brothers etc when referencing another group to show solidarity within the lgbtq community.

4. i will not kiss you - a popular stigma during the rise of aids was the idea that you can get it from kissing (and hugging, spit, etc) and it was super harmful and created this image of gay people as villainous deliberate spreaders of deadly disease. info about aids was so mystified and unknown in the beginning that many gay people thought this too. there’s a graphic going around rn that’s popular that was part of a campaign to de stigmatize kissing :

5. know that i will never marry - less obvious, makes sense within the context of aids / gay liberation, but plausibly deniable as a lyric about dying too young to marry (but like. also something that happened to aids victims. dying too young to see the possibility of marriage). the right to marry which was a bigger deal than some of us give it credit for (not that it should be number 1 top priority BUT within the context of aids....  the idea of like. not being able to see your partner when they die in the hospital. not being the person who gets their ashes or decides if/where theyre buried. basically no spousal rights when your longterm partner dies, it was amplified when so many gay people were dying) 

6. cause the hardest part of this is leaving you - very ephemeral evidence here but sort of what i was talking about before. the context of seeing you partner die was especially amplified by aids, moreso than any other terminal illness i would posit. it was just a matrix of things that created this especially tragic outcome where young people were seeing their partners die quickly with nothing being done about it and no solution. so you have this whole community of people who just saw their friends (but especially partners) die within a few months. and the whole politicized magnified idea of who you loved being the crux of their illness - gayness being the elephant in the room, a political sentiment that is based ENTIRELY around who you love. 

the final touch is calling it CANCER and not AIDS. a song coming out called AIDS esp in 2006 would be literally a joke, like laughed off of the cultural stage. and so calling it CANCER makes it less of a joke, less about the highly agitated and political gay experience and making it about cancer, the ultimate equalizer, the person killer, not the f-g killer. basically reframing aids in a way that makes it more human (even though it is. human. ). leveling the playing field. etc. (more to say abt this but i’m running out of patience) and like i said having it be coded and signalling - gay experience.
