Based on looks alone, how would you rank the season 4 love interests as someone who has never play it?

oh i actually love this!!

'cause i don't even know, for instance, which girls besides angie and najuma are li's, so if you allow me, i'll just rate everybody lol

i think i'm just gonna do it alphabetically to make it easier.

angie. hot, cute, great tattoos. she reminds me of the hot girls i wished were li's on the 'choices' app. also i like her pose but she gets a boot for the hair. it's not great, i don't care for it. 9/10

bruno. this might be the biggest meh for me... hate the hair, HATE IT. what happened?? what went wrong? why did they make his face match the size of his neck? the face is not as generic looking, but it's not great either. the outfits are... gutted. oh my god, they're bad! solid 5/10.

cora. SUPER CUTE. i love the buzz cut, the hair color, her face is just absolutely adorable, cute style. she's hopefully an li?? 'cause if she wasn't y'all were robbed. a boot for the star on the hair (i don't really like buzz shapes on hair). 9/10.

dylan. rotted. gutted. beast. down the drain. most generic looking bitch in this entire cast, BUT IN A BAD WAY. weird ass legs for an athlete, awful face, looks like the type who says "you're just a lesbian because you hadn't had good dick". MANSPLAINING KING. HATE THAT FACE specifically, what a waste of torso design. and i HATE that smirk. gross. solid -3/10. i can't stress this enough, I HATE HIS DESIGN SO MUCH. all of it.

hazeem. HOT!!!!! so fucking handsome, hello??? and i know he's not an li and that was a d-i-s-s-e-r-v-i-c-e. mustache could've been trimmed on the sides but i still think he's hella attractive. i don't mind body hair, and his looks actually good. a boot for the mustache but he was gonna be a 11/10, so 10/10.

james. cute, handsome, good body, but he doesn't make my panties twist you know? i think it's because he looks kinda boring. granted i've never seen any scenes featuring him, so i might be wrong, but he just looks like he would recite poetry and talk about books on the first date. i hate that, it's so tedious. but i love guys with long hair, no matter what texture it is and the bun does it for me. 9/10. hate the glasses and the shorts though.

juliet. NO. she reminds me of the mexican actresses that played villains on telenovelas when i was growing up. BIG SORAYA ENERGY, holy shit. love the eyes, but everything else... it's a no from me dog. hate the diaper she's wearing as a bikini bottom. don't like her, she's not cute. 3/10 and i'm being generous. she looks like she would say she's 40 and people would be like "you don't look 40" but lowkey she's supposed to be 40, you know?

kelly. quirky, cute, looks like would be fun to hang out, probably really flirty. the lip bite is the most they've ever done for a character on any of these ads and it looks good. 10/10.

kobi. great body, good face, but those trunks were a disservice. he looks like the type who would mansplain though, there's definitely an energy there. personally i don't think the "i'm a confident and dynamic guy" is attractive at all. some girls get wet by listening to them, i'm yawning, and he gives me that energy. 8/10.

lexi. i don't see what you guys are talking about. she looks fine but she's not out of this world. the body is ten times hotter with someone else's face. she looks like the lip injections went a bit too far. wouldn't give more than a 6/10.

najuma. SEE, NOW WE'RE TALKING. thicccc, gorgeous face, gorgeous body, gorgeous hair, amazing style. those eyes???? MA'AM, SPARE THAT HAND IN MARRIAGE. truthfully the hottest person in the entire cast and i haven't seen the others yet. 12/10.

oliver. YEP, HE DOES IT FOR ME. beautiful face, good body, hate the tattoos, he gets a boot for that, but he seems like the type of guy who talks to you all night and falls asleep on your lap after sharing stories and laughing about nothing. i love the vibe. he also strikes me as the type who can get a little shy. 11/10.

thabi. gorgeous face, cute style, cute hair, cute glasses, lovely energy. i personally think she's the type to like... laugh timidly about things and that's what i like. i just like how bashful and adorable she looks. she really does it for me too. 10/10.

tiffany. um... i don't know... something's off about them. i think it's the head? or the head-to-the-body position? something is definitely off. i do think she's cute though, and the body is a 10/10 for me. she gets a boot for the wonky design but she's gorgeous! 10/10.

tom. very meh. face is generic looking, and he has no lashes??? it's like they said "let's give him a strong jaw to make him look masculine" and it just looks... wrong. hate that hair, it's not the best let's be honest. the body just doesn't go with the face... the design is not designing, there's a disconnection for sure. i don't like it. also, not that it's bad, but he looks like he has a mommy kink, which added 2 points for him lol 5/10.

valentina. see now that's a bombshell! holy shit. great pose, hot. hair on point, face? amazing. love this one but she gets a boot for the tattoo. also, she does look like a dom/top and that energy makes anyone look ten times hotter, and she's already there. 10/10.

will. my-whole-damn-type! oh my god, long hair on guys is a different level. the tattoos though, are such a BOOT. i hate all of them. this is definitely the only character we can all agree it would be a downgrade if he got another tattoo. hair, face, body, it all does it for me. will is gorgeous and it's not even a discussion, but he gets two boots for the tattoos. 10/10. he was supposed to be a 12.

youcef. hate the hair shape, hair color... go back to party city where you belong. hate the outfits, hate the lips, hate the jaw. oh my god, what did they do to this boy?? body? 10/10, but what the fuck is this face??? why does he look so... weird?? he looks in pain when smiling, i- 3/10 and i'm being super generous. you know i am.

and can i talk about something else for a second? WHO THE FUCK DECIDED ON THEIR OUTFITS???

they're horrible! with the exception of will's night outfit, thabi's and najuma's, i don't think there was anybody else's i was into. the clothes are NOT IT.

valentina's dress was a trip to the gyno. girl... you move one inch i can measure your uterus. i also hate angie's... that fabric? so shiny, and in a very bad way. and i hate the sleeves. juliet's... the diaper? the blue dress?? i don't even... i don't... i-

moving on.

cora's blue something is fine but it's not gagworthy. i prefer the neon pieces and i hate neon. she just pulls it off really well and the cut is super cute. i love it.

now...

CAN WE JUST BURN EVERY OUTFIT BRUNO HAS EVER WORN IN THIS SEASON. GIRL, NO. THOSE SHIRTS ARE SO UGLY! just 'cause you're a comedian... dude, tell me the jokes, don't wear them.

youcef's too. what the fuck was that suit??? why are you wearing a bow tie on a vacation? what is... i don't... i- and again, go back to party city where you belong. you look like you borrowed sam winchester's white wig from the last episode of supernatural and gave it a cut yourself. get kobi here, ASAP, it's an emergency.

don't get me started on tom's. it's so corny to wear something that's not... occasion appropriate. that makes the entire outfit misplaced and why the fuck do you have a handkerchief in your pocket? jacket and sneakers, how very ellen degeneres of you. HATE HIS OUTFIT.

dylan can rot in hell. he's the most basic looking motherfucker and i bet he thinks he's the last vibrator on the shelf. BET. white shirt and jeans? GROUNDBREAKING.

kobi's is fine, not much going on but i kinda prefer that over whatever was going on with the others'.

james' i like because it's pink and pink on dark complexion is UNDERRATED. personally i think it took TOO LONG for a dude to wear it. *thinks of rahim and bobby in blush pink*

i just don't think i missed out on much by not playing this season.

the islanders... appearance alone, because i haven't played any episodes, those are my opinions. i remember being so TORN when i first started season 2. gary, rahim, noah and bobby WERE DOING IT FOR ME, you know?

when lucas and henrik came along, same! the only people that didn't cause any stir with me were rocco, jakub, felix and elijah, but the others?? HOLY SHIT. i had to play on different accounts, i just had to.

this art style is not it. what was wrong with s2's?

also, it does look like multiple artists, from different backgrounds, worked on this season's characters and it absolutely shows. some of them look 2d, some 3d. some of them have some bounce to their hair, some look like they're wearing a helmet (*clears throat* YOUCEF AND TOM).

god, they didn't make one effort did they? anyway. those are my scores based off appearance alone.

‘Lord Tom Beresford-King has Finally Found Love’

Tolly found his younger sister rolling her eyes, letting out an unladylike string of curses, as she crumbled up the tabloid and tossed it into the fireplace, and he couldn’t blame her. Tom was his best mate, had been for pretty much their entire lives, but Tolly had never seen Tom actually want to chase a romantic interest he found, too worried about what his father’s thoughts on her would be. At first, Tolly was thankful Tom never pursued his interest. He’d have to be brain dead to miss the way his best mate would look at his sister with the biggest heart eyes known to mankind.

But now Tom had found Allegra, he wished Tom had chased his own desires. She was a woman of fine tastes, sure, but just as Tolly had always expected of a match made by Tom’s father, she didn’t care about Tom in the slightest.

Tolly had only met Allegra a handful of times, dressed from head to toe in exclusive designer tags, and she had waited all of half a second before allowing her eyes to check him out without sparing so much as a glance toward her future fiancé. Leering at Tolly would be an accurate description of what she did. He was put off, but he tried to be supportive of his friend trying to navigate an arranged relationship. Even if he knew that Allegra was still seeing some Scottish lad with a castle behind Tom’s back- Tolly had tried to raise the issue with his parents but they didn’t care as long as she wasn’t caught by the tabloids.

Which brought Tolly back to his sister’s frustration. Sure, Tom gave her the heart eyes to end all heart eyes, but Evangeline couldn’t hide her own love from flooding her face if her life depended on it. Tolly knew. And he was over his whole ‘protective older brother, nobody is good enough for my sister’ bullshit. He wanted his two favorite people to be happy.

But he was nothing if not a teasing ass.

“Evan, you need to be careful. Your jealousy is showing.”

She scowled at him before redirecting her gaze to where the flames licked up the pages of the tabloid, “Bugger off, Tolly. He’s not going to be happy with her.”

It might’ve been the way her voice cracked at the very end of the sentence, the fire shining off the tears she wasn’t letting fall, but Tolly didn’t retort. Instead he wrapped his arm around his sister and agreed, “No. He’s not.”

When Tom met Allegra, he knew it wouldn’t be love at first sight. But he hoped they’d come to love each other like his grandparents had, even though his parents didn’t. Youcef told him he was being stupid, especially when he came by for their regular poker night and he saw Tom giving his credit card to Allegra. He glanced to Tolly, who spoke up, “Allegra, your nails look a bit dirty.” Her eyes snapped to her manicured nails, “Been digging for anything lately?”

“Oh, bite me, Alexander.” She sneered back at him after she’d taken his point.

Tolly was unfazed by the use of his first name rather than his nickname, “Oh, I’m sorry. I don’t touch things if I don’t know where they’ve been.” Tom barely forced his amusement away before Allegra glanced at him and stormed out of the room.

“Mon deux, you realize she is using you for your money, yes?”

Tom shrugged, “It is what I have to offer after all.”

Youcef glanced over to Tolly where he sat at the table again, and the other boy just shook his head in defeat. They both knew this ‘relationship’ wasn’t good for Tom. It had been months. The final straw for Tolly had been a week ago, when Tom was trying to force sincerity into his words when he told Allegra he loved her. The conversation had put Tolly on edge even more.

“I love you.”

“I love your money.”

“What?”

“I said I love you, honey!”

Tom had pretended he had heard her wrong the first time.

Tolly glared at her blatant arrogance.

Youcef had been the only one to notice Tom had been staring at Evangeline as the words left his mouth.

The look Youcef shot Tolly’s way tonight meant that they should try and talk him out of it. Again.

Tolly was sick of trying to explain to him why staying with Allegra was a bad idea.

But hell, maybe twelfth time was the charm, right?

But before Tolly could open his mouth as they took their seats, Tom’s mother came gliding into the room. Tolly hid a gag that only Youcef could see as she sauntered over to them in her silk nightie and robe, her manicured fingered digging into Tolly’s shoulders. “Aren’t you boys looking handsome tonight?” Tolly had to force the very real gag at her purred words back down his throat.

“Mum, please.” Tom looked mortified, as usual, at his mother’s antics, “We’ve discussed this.”

“Don’t you worry,” Mrs Beresford-King giggled, “He hasn’t done anything to warrant concern, don’t be so silly.” Everyone in their circle knew about his parents affairs, but Tolly didn’t fancy being the next on his mum’s list. Even if she was single. But she didn’t stay, and he was thankful for that.

As soon as Youcef signaled the coast was clear, Tolly started the conversation, “You know what we’re going to say.”

“It’s a moot point at this juncture.” Tom answered back, not looking up from the cards he was shuffling, “Evan- I mean, no one will want me outside of the capacity I am currently fulfilling, so why bother changing things?”

Tolly was fairly sure his eye was twitching. Sure, he’d heard this argument from Tom more times than he could count, but he had never blatantly said his sister’s name before, on accident or otherwise. He couldn’t really be that stupid, could he? “No one does? You really sure about that, mate?”

Tom cleared his throat, ignoring the question, and dig into his trouser pocket.

Setting a ring box on the table in front of his best friends.

Youcef blinked at it, mouth moving on its own, “Vraiment, I pray you are proposing to Tolly right now and not telling us you plan on popping the question to that woman.”

“I will marry you if it avoids that nightmare.” Tolly agreed, staring wide eyed at the ring sitting in the open box. It reminded him of the things he saw Evangeline wear, simple and understated. Not gaudy and over the top like Allegra’s style. God, Tolly wished there was something he could do to stop this.

Evan came home from some charity event she chaired to find her brother sitting in her study. “To what do I owe the pleasure of you lurking in the dark to scare me?”

But Tolly didn’t laugh like he usually would have. He stared into the fire, letting the glow shadow his face, before he finally opened his mouth, “He’s planning to propose.”

Evan knew he wasn’t saying it to hurt her. He was stating a fact she needed to know. But her legs gave out all the same, as she collapsed into the armchair beside him like she’d been struck down, “Are… are you sure?”

He nodded, almost looking like he was on autopilot, “Showed me the ring himself.” Suddenly Tolly covered his face with his hands, just screaming into his palms before he peeled them away to look her in the eye, “You need to tell him.”

“Wha- no! Absolutely not! He’s- he doesn’t-“

“I swear to everything in this life,” he groaned out, “If you are about to and tell me he doesn’t feel the same, I’m gonna- I’m gonna lock you in the closet like that neighbor kid did at that one party when we were children.” He wasn’t serious, she knew that. He and Tom had been the ones to find her, to get her out, and it had left her with a deep seated fear of small spaces. He wouldn’t actually do that to her. But it showed her how desperate he was.

“I’ll try. Okay? But I can’t promise either of us will be happy with the ending.”

Mr Beresford-King threw a grand party, it was obvious that it was meant to be the night Tom proposed to Allegra, and as the oldest friends of the family the Peregine-Tolpuddles were invited. This would be the last chance to talk Tom out of it- he would never risk embarrassing his parents by calling off an engagement. Youcef had taken charge of choosing Evangeline’s dress, picking something in Tom’s favorite color with a sweetheart neckline and a dropped waist. Evan never dressed as nicely as she was tonight, she wasn’t a flashy person regardless of the money their family had. Her entrance was noticed by everyone in the room, and she still didn’t see the way Tom’s eyes traced her every move.

But someone else did.

The proposal would be toward the end of the night. Tolly knew Tom’s father wouldn’t risk to much attention or too many questions about the relationship, so his sister had time to say her piece. But where the hell did she go?

When Allegra had asked Evangeline for a chat, the Lady didn’t think much of it, choosing to follow the girlfriend of the man she loved.

She didn’t expect to be thrown into a closet.

Fists slamming against the wooden door, no sound seemed to be heard over the sound of the band, so Evan rushed to dump her clutch purse out on the floor. Unsteady hands shoved through the pile of make up and other junk she’d stuffed inside, gripping onto her phone when her fingers grazed it. She was heaving in deep breaths, but feeling like she was still short on air, “Siri… call Tol- call To-“

She heard Siri’s robotic voice reply but wasn’t sure what it said.

When Tom’s phone rang, he almost ignored it. Almost decided that his father’s disapproving face wouldn’t worth the call. But instead he fished out his cell, “Evan? Everything alright?”

He was greeted with her frantic breaths, mutterings that he didn’t think she realized another person could actually hear leaving her lips. He’s seen her like this before, and the decision to tear out of the room like a bat out of hell was confirmed when he heard the word ‘closet’ leave in a terrified whisper.

He found Allegra standing in the hall, leaned against the door of a coat closet, a cackle on her lips as she smirked at him before faking a pout, “Aw, what? Sad I got rid of your little eye candy?”

Tom chose not to answer, a fire he didn’t recognize burning in his gut as he shoved her aside and forced the door open, only for Evangeline to stumble out and into his arms, “Evan, it’s alright.” He rubbed her back, “I’ve got you, it’s okay.”

Allegra ignored her tears as she rolled her eyes, “You should’ve left her there. How is anyone supposed to take this proposal seriously if you stare at her the whole time? Maybe I’ll just say no. Let you embarrass your father.”

Tom scoffed, “You think I’ll be getting down on one knee for you any time soon?” He held Evan to him, guiding just a bit down the hall until he found a buzzer, “Alfred, please escort Allegra off the premises and alert the guards she is no longer welcome.”

There was no denying the joy in the older man’s voice as he buzzed back over, “It will be my absolute pleasure, sir.”

“Oh hell yeah!” Tom turned to see Tolly celebrating, for the entirety of the one second it took him to catch sight of his sister, “Holy- Evan, what happened?” He rushed down the hall, gently holding her face.

“Closet.” She whimpered in return, burrowing further into Tom’s side like it was the safest place she’d ever been.

Eventually, Evan was able to return to the party, and the three of them entered the room to be greeted by Youcef as Tom’s father addressed the crowd. The Frenchman couldn’t hide his grimace, “I believe you’re just in time for your introduction.” He glanced at the three of them, “Where’s the bride to be?”

Tom tugged Evan to stand beside him, “Right here.” Her eyes widened, but he continued, “Not yet. But if this has taught me anything, it’s that it’s about time we both stop avoiding it.”

A year later, Tolly found Evangeline staring at another headline about Tom. But this one didn’t get tossed into the fire. This one was framed, hung in her study.

Everyone’s thoughts on this??? It sounds intriguing but with how Fusebox has been lately I’m really hesitant.

Having an ex in the villa is great for drama I really hope they deliver on that. I’m also hoping it’s our ex & not our partners. I want a love triangle centered around me rather than me fighting some girl 💀

I’m hearing it might be an all star cast from previous seasons.. idk how to feel about that. I want new people I’ve already ended up with the guys I’ve liked from past seasons. We need something fresh & new!

I want to be excited but with how Fusebox has been it’s hard to get my hopes up.

Here's MY thoughts on the love island the game's seasons, for no reason other than I want to:

Also because the majority of the people following me are here for OM! & I want to drag more people down into the litg hell with me :)

Season 1: why is everyone so bitchy for no reason????? Talia & Jake are okay but other than that it's meh... don't really like the art style either

Season 2: Immaculate. Chef's kiss. They hit a high they never reached again. Somehow managed to balance the drama & the found family aspect and created a dynamic where you can actually believe everyone is friends and having fun even if sometimes they try to kill each other. Characters are flawed but generally decent people who are allowed to grow throughout the season. You get the option to make MC a bi gym-bro who can devour an entire cake in one sitting and bench press her partner. There's a reason this got two sequels.

Season 3: It's fine ig. Short and kind of boring. Nothing much happens. AJ is so cute though she almost makes up for it.

Season 4: Honestly a close 2nd favourite. We get a lot of character backstory and like s2 it touches on some serious issues. The season with some of the funniest moments/lines of dialogue - multiple moments where I just laughed out loud. I'm still only half way through it but the "villain" is just straight up mean for no reason and doesn't get any character development like the characters in S2 but makes up for it by having some of the funniest interactions with other characters and I was so sad to see her go. Also the season where I desperately wish MC was allowed to be in an open relationship till the very end and finish off the season in a polycule with every other islander who was in the love "triangle"s of the the season because this was the hardest season to pick a LI - Najuma is just all around amazing, Bruno is sweet & funny, Tom is so pathetic* MC & Thabi's friendship is also the best thing? It's great seeing a platonic relationship that is as loving (if not more so) than the romantic relationships. It's literally:

Season 5: Psychological horror. The producers said 'hey wouldn't it be funny if we torture this woman on national tv' and then committed to the bit. My memories are hazy because even though I only played it earlier this year it upset me so much I did my best to block most of it out but also I'm 100% sure there was actual galighting happening. Don't know why MC stuck around till the end because all she's gonna be able to use the money for is to pay for her therapy. Anyway I think MC should have been allowed to brutally murder everyone, she deserved it <3

Season 6: I liked the concept but I think they should have utilised it more. I'm still right at the very beginning (around ep 9) and I KNOW the general consensus from everyone who has reached the last eps seems to be that Amelia sucks MAJOR ass. But look, this is the first time a game has given me a MC with a canon family member who is also part of the game so in my opinion Amelia could commit war crimes and she's still be the most precious little uwu ever because I'm activating MC's insanely overprotective oblivious to all faults ""big"" sister mode

*I just played more of S4 and holy shit someone needs to get this man away from his parents and also maybe get him some therapy jfc

** youcef, mc & valentina helping tom figure out he likes flowers and pink and tie-dye clothes and makeup and being complimented and called pretty and getting hugs is getting to me okay his parents better watch the show and see their adult son finally discovering himself and what he likes instead of what they think he should like and finally being able to let loose and have fun without worrying about what others think of him and finally being happy and they better get some sense knocked into them OR he should go to therapy and realise that no matter how much he loves his parents their love and regard being so conditional to the point that he's hidden his entire personality and is now so extremely self-conscious of it whenever it does manage to peak out, that he nearly cries on national tv after a practical stranger compliments those hidden bits is not good. Also the man has some of the most insane repressed queer vibes???? What do you mean he sees a canon nonbinary person wearing a floppy hat and is reminded of the floppy hat he loved as a child that his father threw away and replaced with a baseball cap and then when he "lost" the baseball cap his father bought him the exact same one again

*** i was 100% sure i was going to get mc to stick with najuma (dorky mischevious goth who is so so bad at flirting hello!!!?) but i got caught by "sad & shy with serious self-worth issues hidden badly behind an overconfident exterior (who blushes & gets flustered easily because he so rarely receives genuine praise/compliments) experiences postive regard for the first time and loses his shit" for the third fucking time

Edit 4:

Okay but why does Dylan get (rightfully) called out by everyone in S4 for all the bullshit he does to MC from blatantly lying to her to not listening when she says "No" But in S5 when Suresh (admittedly, more subtly) pulls off the same shit no one says anything, even MC's "friends" don't believe her.

In S2 when Luke/Henrik gets a little too forceful after MC says no, he gets called out by MC's partner and immediately apologises

In S4 when Dylan does the whole "stop pretending you don't want me" routine after MC rejects him multiple times, the rest of the islanders band together and basically chase him off the island

In S5 when Suresh pulls literally the same thing from the very first episode itself but none of the other islanders believe MC, and Suresh keeps getting to do this until almost the very end while also managing to constantly play hot & cold with MC and chase away all of MCs other romantic interests

When Harry Met Sally: Seb as Harry!! Then Genevieve as his ex, Tom as MC's (Sally's) ex, Nicky as Seb's best friend, Elladine as MC's best friend

I actually have this all sorted how this would work out but my post got deleted 😭

Notting Hill: Jin as Hugh Grant's character (forgot his name lol) because in my head he's history nerd so like just imagine him in cozy sweaters okay. He's got that wacky roommate whose name I have also forgotten and naturally if we had to pick from S8, Liam, but I also think Jamal would be a fun pick (make the roommate less wacky and more just fun and wild though). The other version of this is Jake as as the main character with his roommate Tim.

Legally Blonde (and I'm going based off the musical): Literally only here because I know I can cast the lawyers, like clearly Suresh as Warner (and oh lean heavily on the implication that he cheated on MC while they were dating) and Blake or Marisol as Vivienne (I like her being cut throat but still looking for love). I'd really like Hari as Emmett because they have a backstory of working hard for their dream and would have a fun banter with the main character without being overly cheery and also is very competitive when needs to be although may be an underdog, but lowkey could also be anyone that has the very grounded boy next door vibe so like Tyler, Rohan, Jake, James, and Lewie are also good picks imo. The other sorority girls needs to include Chelsea, Thabi, basically any of MC's besties (...minus Amelia). It's hard to think of anyone as Paulette because she's an older character and everyone in the game is pretty young but we can further my Angie x Cora agenda and have it be Angie talking about her lost love and then in comes the hot deliverywoman, Cora. She also has like sage advice vibes when she's in the villa sometimes so I think that works.

She's All That: Gary as the main guy. Eddie as his shitty best friend. I don't know why but this came so quickly to me I'm not sure I'd even have to explain but like Gary gives off cool guy / player vibes but I'd also see him absolutely get into or at least support whatever weird artsy stuff his girlfriend is into and have a character arc and all that.

While You Were Sleeping: the OG "I fell in love with your brother while you were away" story, so clearly Ozzy as Peter, Marshall as the brother, Grace as the girl Ozzy's actually dating

How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days: Because I've already said Gary for a different romcom, I'm inclined to have the suave ladies man esque character be Will or Youcef. I also think an evolved Suresh or Finn or Mason or Levi could work. Often I forget about her but I think Lulu would be a fun whatever Kathryn Hahn's character's name is.

A Cinderella Story (the Hilary Duff version): I think the fandom's go to "I don't wanna do what my dad says" character may be Lucas but I want to give Oliver a chance as the sweet lead even though I remember nothing about his backstory in game. MC's best friend can be someone a little dorky and the only person coming to mind right now is Felix.

Ten Things I Hate About You: Again, a reformed Finn could've been so good. Instead, we're going for mysterious and brooding so I think Joyo is a good choice for Patrick. Then to continue the streak of me remembering S7 characters, I think Raf could be a good Cameron because he's got that innocence and silliness that works. Then we need the friend that gives Raf an explanation of how things work and I could see that going to Andy because he's a little silly and dorky but mostly pretty confident (slightly different vibe from the character but that's fine). Other option, Bruno. In the movie, I believe he also ends up with Kat's best friend, who I just remember being very confident and alternative vibes so I think Najuma, Cora, Bella, or Lottie for her. We also need Kat's sister Bianca, and that could be easy and I say it's Amelia, or we could pick a tolerable option like Bea. There's also the guy Bianca initially has a crush on, and dare I say we pick Toby?? Just a character that's full of nothing. Or it could just be someone pretty like Levi or someone rich and an asshole like Miles or Jasper. All I remember about Bianca's bestie is that she backstabs her at the end and since fusebox hates women that could be a number of characters but my pick is Sophie or Erikah.

I could go on forever so I must I choose to stop now before I get carried away 🤣

season four: fuseboxes biggest wasted opportunity.

(this has been sitting in my drafts for a few months now, almost a year 😭 may be slightly irrelevant to post not given how all talk of season four appears to have died out and looking back I’m not really saying anything that no one’s said before - but still, I’ll post it for the sake of it! :))

before starting, I'm going to admit, seasons one, two, and four are the only seasons I've ever fully played. I've never completed a playthrough of season three or five, they could both be brilliant idk (though I'm guessing not, judging by what others have said).

on my recent playthrough of litg s4 (yet another Angie route, some things never change) I was suddenly struck with the realisation that season four could've been gold for fusebox... and yet, it isn't.

i think it's important to recognise season four has its successes.

-> in terms of diversity, season four is arguably by far the best. it delivers a diverse range of characters from all ethnic backgrounds. it has gender diversity (limited, all be it, and there's still far for fusebox to go in this area - but it was a start). it delivers two good female li options (at least, imo) with a slow burn female li and one you can couple up with immediately (again, fusebox still is far to go in terms of properly catering to its wlw/lgbtq players... but... it was a start). finally, unlike seasons one and two, it doesn't always push this "girls are more drama" narrative which can sometimes be seen, notably in season two. the seasons depiction of female characters still isn't perfect, don't get me wrong, but in the case of season four I'd chalk this up to the fact it had ass writing, as opposed to season two, where I genuinely think some of the female characters suffered from misogynistic writing.

-> the characters are great. at least, in concept. I personally love Angie, Youcef, and Bruno - yet I can recognise the concepts of other characters are gold. like Will? an islander with commitment issues who slowly learns to open themselves up to love? could've been gold. Angie? a woman who slowly falls in love with her best friend? discovering not only her sexuality but also herself in the process? THE OPPORTUNITIES WERE FUCKING ENDLESS. Tom? Youcef? Thabi? Lexi? EVERY. SINGLE. CHARACTER. HAD. A. PERFECT. CONCEPT.

-> the designs were good. this is a personal opinion, but I think the designs of season four characters were much more in the league of season one and two than season three and five. again, this is a subjective opinion - but its one I do believe and see as a strength. (I mean... have we seen Angie? Thabi? Najuma? Will? I'd have been all OVER some of the mfs in that season).

in short, a huge strength of season four is that it, in theory, had a diverse and interesting cast of characters and routes - all of whom came from different backgrounds and circumstances.

in theory.... season four was gold.

except, in practicality, it wasn't.

now, I could talk for days about the weaknesses of season four - but at the end of the day I think it all comes back to what dozens of people have already said about me.

the writing was - in the most simplest of terms - absoloute balls.

there are dozens of examples of this.

take the dylan drama. what was the writing of that? Dylan was written to be a complete untrustworthy asswhole, how could we have ever believed anything that was coming out of his mouth when the man was characterised to be a liar from practically the first moment he opened his mouth?

now... had Dylan been characterised as some kind of likeable charmer... the drama potential would have been ENDLESS. it would have been far easier to see why MC/ their LI might believe Dylan.. and the angst that could have been produced from that!! endless!!

in my personal opinion, the Dylan drama is just generally dumb and could have easily been sorted out with one (1) three line conversation between MC and their li of "hey, did you cheat on me or is Dylan talking shite?" "yea/no" "aight bet" - but still, even tho it is dumb, it could have been made less dumb!!

and there's tonnes of drama which could have been great in theory but was awful in practice. like the lexi/kobi drama. or the juliet/kobi drama. or the valentina coming in and wanting our partner drama.

SO MANY MISSED OPPORTUNITIES!!!

one example of a HUGE missed opportunity in my mind is the Angie situation.

don't get me wrong, I fucking love Angies route. I only ever seem capable of playing it on replays, and I think Angie is one of my fave litg characters... well, ever! BUT HER ROUTE COULD HAVE HAD SO MUCH MORE ANGST. I STAND BY THAT.

throughout the entirety of season four, Angie always seems uncomfortable with romantic feelings. she says it herself she has trouble finding a connection, and she's incredibly cynical.

and then, she finds out she does have a connection - with none other than her best friend! who's a girl!

LIKE..? HELLO FUSEBOX! THE POTENTIAL FOR THE MOST ANGSTY LESBIAN STORY EVER FUCKING TOLD WAS RIGHT. THERE.

it's always bothered me how Angie, for the most part, seems chill with the fact she's just had a major life realisation about herself.

because, trust me, as someone who's been Angie before, it's not easy!

you spend your entire life thinking your one thing, then you find out your the exact opposite, and (in Angie's case) you've been lying to yourself for the better part of 30 years.

THE FUCKING ANGST WAS THERE.

give me angie distancing herself from MC because she's so in denial of her feelings and she thinks ignoring them will make them go away.

give me angie slowly coming to terms with the fact that, she can't ignore them. she can't make them go away. she's a lesbian, she always has been - and she can't deny that part of her anymore.

give me angie tearfully coming to the MC - choking up an apology/explanation and a confession of feelings all at once.

and just... give me more angst. the angst that should have came with someone discovering something huge about them after 29 years.

but looking beyond Angie. I think me biggest wish in terms of better writing is not only better writing for the drama, but better writing for the routes.

bruno, james, and najuma share largely the same route. most of the li's have the same/similar dialogue - and pretty much all of them have the same reaction to the dylan scenario.

these people are individuals - they have different reactions. I want to see that. the players deserve to see that.

we get it in season one. we get it in season two. we deserved it in season four.

TLDR; I think it's a mistake to assume season four was doomed from the start- it wasn't, and by saying so it almost feels as if we're letting fusebox off the hook, so to speak, for it being bad.

season four had the same concept of drama mingled with a unique cast that seasons one and two had, yet it didn't have the same quality simply because fusebox couldn't be bothered anymore. they didn't want to put in the writing and produce a genuinely good season.

season four was fusebox's biggest wasted opportunity - dare I say it could have been in the same league as seasons one and two, had Fusebox actually been bothered to do their job.

Is it just me, or do Thabi and Bruno/Youcef make more sense than Thabi and Tom? (On a James route)

Like when did Thabi and Tom ever get close? It just doesn’t make sense. Then, in the cooking challenge, it shows that Thabi and Bruno/ Youcef do have chemistry, but she’s still pining over Will. Wouldn’t it had made more sense if she ended up with either of them instead of Tom (who we never saw her actually talk to prior to them coupling up)??

How interesting would LITG S4 be if they had Casa Amor with the S5 guys? Just imagine

Suresh coming in as the ex. How many people would switch just because of how hot he is? His confidence and persistence to get MC back. Not looking at the other girls and confessing to MC how jealous and torn he’s been watching her on the show. And a video getting back to the OG boys where MC is talking about how good you were together in the past. Poor baby Bruno would be sweating even if MC talked to him before and told him he cheated on her. Will would switch, not just because he’s flaky, but because doesn’t know where MC stands in your couple if they only just got back together.

Eddie the model in competition with Youcef. It’s not revealed they actually know each other until someone decides to switch and Youcef says something ( if not MC, maybe Thabi would switch to him if it’s before she gets with James). Better if they’re enemies. Eddie gets most of the modeling gigs Youcef wanted. Youcef’s petty remarks in his beautiful French accent that pisses Eddie off. 😂 Eddie is more laid back than the others which can be a breath of fresh air compared to the others. The banter flows better and feels more sincere. Asks random questions to get to know MC better.

Alfie would probably get on well with Juliet, Valentina, Cora, but is flirting hard on MC. Making her laugh all day since he knows she likes that about Bruno. Having watched her on tv he knows her interest and making a point to bring them up and ask more about them. Would ask her to take a dip in the pool and they end up just laughing, splashing, racing all afternoon. Would make her breakfast on their last day together. If MC is with Will, he might try to get in her head a bit about Will’s head being scrambled. How he isn’t really sure about her or their couple. Even though it was probably said when she first coupled with him and he doesn’t feel that way anymore.

Finn is trying it with everyone. Laying it on thick with most the girls. I see him getting along well with Valentina, Cora and maybe even Najuma. Angie is steering clear of him because he reminds her of an ex. Obvi he likes MC the most and will make her ice coffee in the mornings and brings her water bottle to her if she forgets it somewhere. He wants to get to know everyone equally but he’s charming so it’s hard not to like him. Will probably ask her at some point if she wants to share a bed with him.

No matter if your switch or stick, Bruno is always loyal if he’s with MC. Will and Youcef always switch. James, Tom and Kobi would stick.

MC can switch or stick with anyone. Valentina would switch to Finn unless MC picks him then she switches to Alfie. Thabi could switch to Eddie (if she’s not with James and is over Will) unless MC picks him then she will stick. Cora would surprise everyone by switching to Suresh unless MC picks him then she would switch with Alfie. Juliet, Najuma, and Angie will stick.

Episode Four- The Model, The Lord, The Artist

Narrator voice: Welcome back viewers to another segment of Kidnap and Date- I mean Room Raiders!

We have our boys tucked into the van, and they are waiting for the un-British Brit to make her appearance.

Will was reclined against the side of the van, too busy staring at the silverish white hair of the boy beside him to pay much attention to their conversation. Finally, the boy turned to him, “See something you like?”

“How do you get it that color?”

“Toner. It’s all in the toner.” Will nodded like he was carefully considering the words, his lax posture a far cry from Tom’s stiff polite and pin rod straight stance or even Youcef’s form somewhere between the two.

The screen suddenly flickered to life, a blonde girl appearing with a sleeve of tattoos hanging out of a slimming black tank top, “Howdy boys!”

All three boys blinked. This girl wasn’t British like Will and Tom, or even French like Youcef. She sounded…American.

“The name is Lacey. I’m twenty four, and I ride horses on the British Olympic team. (Is that a thing? It is now.) You boys might notice, but I’m from Florida originally, been living here for years and haven’t managed to pick up the accent yet.”

Will snorted.

Lacey’s beaming smile seemed to plummet Tom’s heart straight to his feet.

Youcef didn’t appear fazed. Even as his room appeared to be first.

Lacey’s cowboy boots clicked against the hardwood as she walked into the first flat, “This place looks high end.” She let out a low whistle, strolling around the couch and barely resisting from kicking her feet up on the coffee table as she sat down, “You don’t spend much time in here, do you? This couch is stiffer than a dressage ride on a competition bronco.”

Youcef scoffed, “As opposed to what? I cannot be…what is the phrase? A sofa pumpkin?”

“A…couch potato?” Will offered uncertainty.

“Oui. That. I cannot do that in my line of work.”

Lacey pulled the gloves on, trailing them over the frames that would hold the photos he had hanging in the hallway and nodding when they came back clean, “They were only supposed to take out pictures you were in. Were these all you? Bit conceited.” She continued on, entering his neat bedroom. Nothing was out of place, so she made the closet her first stop, pulling out random hangers and making faces at the articles she found, “These look like those outfits you see on the runway that no one wears in real life. Is that what you do? Runway or designer, which is it?” Knowing there would be no reply, she returned the hangers to their rightful places. She took the light to his bed and found a stain on his pillow. “Is that what I think it is or did you go to bed too soon after washing hair dye out?” With a loud laugh, she decided it was time for room number two.

“Zut alors. Of course it was dye. I am not an animal.”

“Will, I hope it’s your turn.” When no reply came, they glanced over.

“Mon deux, he fell asleep.” Gently shaking his shoulder, Will’s eyes blinked open, “Mon ami, she might be at your room next.”

“Oh. Cool.” Will closed his eyes again.

Tom called out uncertainly, “Don’t you want to see her impression?”

Will shrugged, unaffected, but sat up to watch.

Tom almost squeaked when he saw her approaching the gate to his estate instead.

“Name, miss?”

“Uh, Lacey.” She blinked at the guard, glancing at the cameraman when the uniformed man told them she wasn’t on the list. “I wouldn’t be? He doesn’t know me. At least not yet.” She winked at the camera, not knowing she was turning him three different shades of red. The producer stepped over as the cameraman ardently aimed to only capture Lacey in the shot, “I’ll probably look like such a gold digger if I pick this boy, geez.” She shook her head, staring at the expanse of estate as a man in a tailored suit ventured out to join them.

“Good evening, miss. I am the sir’s butler, I will be escorting you today.”

Her nose scrunched up, “Please tell me you have a name and I don’t have to refer to you as the butler. Does he really go by sir?”

The man bowed curtly, gesturing her away from the guard toward the manor before giving her a smirk, “Of course not. Tom is fairly down to Earth, as far as the masters I’ve served. As far as my name- I am Alfred Pennysworth.”

Lacey stopped dead, eyes wide, smile that could nearly split her face in two, “Am I about to enter Wayne manor? Is he Batman?”

The twinkle in his eyes alighted, “Ah, so you are familiar with the superhero? Tom’s mother and father did not allow for much frivolity- but a visiting Duke’s son had brought the comics with him when he was a young lad.”

“How young?” She giggled, following him through the social halls but far more intrigued in the story than the regal decor- like it didn’t matter to her.

Tom sat next to Youcef, groaning into his hands as he muttered about Alfred promising not to tell these stories.

“Tom was four, at the time. He became obsessed with the story. Started calling me Alfred, so I changed my name to suit it.”

Her brows shot up in shock, “You changed your name for him?”

He laughed, “It may be difficult to believe, but I have served the family long before he was born.” The elderly man raised his hand, pointing to a framed costume that hung just inside the double doorway of the room he led her to. She couldn’t help but giggle at the black and yellow childrens suit that looked weathered by age and overuse. “He was determined to be Bruce Wayne. And from the day he was born, I held nothing but affection. I’ve never had a child of my own, so my godson was it for me. It may be foolish to change my name to adhere to a child’s fantasy, but if you end up choosing my boy, you’ll see that his endearing nature makes it hard to argue. He never suggested the name change, mind you, but the way he lit up like a Christmas tree when I told him- it was worth it.”

Tom’s face couldn’t get any redder, Youcef feared the blood rush would lead him to passing out, but Will was busy losing his mind in his snickers.

Lacey dabbed at the bit of tears in her eyes as the butler finished speaking, thanking him for sharing, before she pulled on the gloves and made her way around the room. She wasn’t surprised when Alfred followed her, but she giggled when she saw the feather duster he’d pulled from thin air, “Afraid I’ll catch you slipping, Mister Pennysworth?”

He smiled at her, “Simply doing my job and being prepared.”

Lacey smirked at the camera, “Is this going to be a regular thing, room number two? Is Alfred going to join us in the bedroom? He’s not really my type….” She didn’t miss the way he quietly suppressed a laugh and played it off a cough.

Unsurprisingly, she found no dust. But she did find his comics hidden under his bed. Stacked neatly on his dresser she found Cosmo magazine, with articles marked on pleasing women and how to get a date. She thought it was endearing. She gave the butler a hug before moving onto the third room.

“Thank goodness that’s over.” Tom sagged in relief.

Will looked over from where he sat, kicking his feet up into Tom’s lap, “I could help you with that if you want.” Will gave him a devilish smirk as Tom squawked and Youcef snorted.

Lacey stumbled over a few pairs of shoes left too close to the front door as she entered the third flat, “Oh mother fu- Do you not put things away?” She managed to catch herself on the arm of a chair as the cameraman caught her other arm.

The voice muttered off screen, “Are ya alright, lassie?”

“I’m good!” She grinned, shooting the camera a thumbs up. “I’ll be more careful.” She tapped the toes of her boots against the floor, something she did before mounting her horse, like she was checking their security. She started slowly, eyes flicking between the floor and the path ahead. Her fingers traced over faint, dried paint smears, “Are you a painter, number three?” She tapped her fingers against the championship belt buckle that held her suede belt, making her way over discarded clothes and crates of spray paint until she reached his bedroom. The walls were bare of posters- but held a mural. She recognized an isu tree from listening to the friends she’d made at the Olympics. There was a clash of geometric shapes on one side- chaos. The other side held what appeared to be a mix of the sky during day and night. “This is…my god, it’s beautiful.” She gave the room the regular check, laughing when she realized his bed was a hammock. “You’ll fall out that one day.” She said with a shake of head. She opened the beside table, shutting it quickly before the cameraman could get a shot of the joints stowed inside. “Empty,” she shrugged, shooting the camera an awkward straight face smile (😬) to show him she saw, but she wouldn’t rat him out.. She finally spared one last glance at the mural before leaving.

The three boys wandered into her flat, but none of them particularly cared to dig through anything. Tom was too polite, Youcef believed people should get to have secrets, and Will just couldn’t be bothered. They did take time to comment on the things they could see. The medals hanging, from state and country riding tournaments. She had side by side frames, the silver medals she’d won in the first of her events at the 2020 Olympics, as well as the gold from the later ones, alongside her team jacket. Will let out a whistle as he tapped the frame, “She is an achiever.”

“Which is good…right?” Tom cocked his head a bit, like he really wasn’t sure. Youcef nodded to him anyway.

They didn’t have time to look for much else before the front door was opening and they heard her boots clicking in. “Howdy there, boys!”

Youcef took her hand, pressing a kiss to the back, while Will just offered a nod of acknowledgment. Tom was too frozen seeing her in person, his brain just repeatedly playing the record she’s pretty she’s pretty she’s pretty she’s pre-

“So I gotta eliminate one of you off the bat, right? Gotta be room number one,” she pinched the one side of her face up, arms extended tightly with her hands clasped together, “It’s the closet honestly. Those clothes, my guy- I can’t picture someone actually wearing that stuff.”

“Maybe you can look up the pictures sometime.” Youcef winked, kissing her hand once more before exiting the apartment.

She blinked, glancing back at him before looking at the other guys, “Okay then. The second would have to be room number three. I’m sorry, your painting was beautiful, but your flat was absolute chaos.”

“What is chaos if not the deconstruction of order?” Her brow furrowed, but Will just smiled like it made total sense and walked out.

Lacey smiled at Tom, “To be honest, it was Alfred’s story that really sold me on you.” His face flushed again, but she just giggled, “It was cute! People might still think I’m a gold digger for picking you,” she gestured to her awards, “but I clearly have my own income. I just want to get to know the man baby Batman grew up to be.”

Tom smiled, nodding. He was still mortified that story was told, but at least he got a date with a beautiful girl because of it.
