Today is varnish all the #artworks day. I get my #artsupplies from @artistcraftsman_northpdx (they ship!) And the #frames for the #artworks will be done by @auroragallery44 and some of the #fineart I'm varnishing today will go to happy clients at @caplanartdesigns !! I love having #localartsupplies and a #localframeshop and a #localgallery to work with ... while I'm waiting for my varnish to dry I'm going to read books I got from my #localbookstore @vintagebookshop ... and I may even drink some #localwine from @burntbridgecellars .... I love sharks. Like maybe too much. So in an act of flagrant self-indulgence, I made this fiber recreation of a very ancient shark skeleton atop a chest of drawers, in which individual creatures the shark may have consumed are entombed. The piece was finished in 2015 and has been displayed in Philadelphia and Miami courtesy of my friends at Paradigm Gallery + Studio (@paradigmgs). . @paradigmgs is currently in a bidding war concerning the ownership of the building they’ve resided in for years. In this space, they have cultivated a beloved, engaging, community-accessible space - if you’ve had your eye/s on any specific works in their inventory, now is the perfect time to plonk down those coins because it could determine whether or not Paradigm will continue to operate in their Queen Village, Philadelphia location. Thank you @farmprojects for a great exhibition! #repost These two paintings titled Snowman in Summer I and II carry some history. They’re a throwback to a body of work that I did when my son was just a toddler, where I used snowflake imagery and the structure of a snowmen: three simple geometric balls (head, heart, body) as temporary catchment basins for passing time, layered relationships, complicated experiences, and unanswerable questions. Woven wallhanging now available @kunstuitleen, seen alongside mixed media work on canvas inspired by Vlietland (Herenstraat 92, Voorburg, throughout May Tues-Sat 10.00-17.00; https://www.sbkvoorburg.nl). . In een grijs verleden studeerde ze scheikunde in Engeland, maar nu is ze al jaren fulltime kunstenaar. Veronica Pock maakt weefsels voor aan de wand, sjaals en kussens. Toch zijn tekenen en schilderen steeds de basis van haar werk. Ze gaat eerst met gemengde technieken op het platte vlak experimenten. Dat werk afwisselend abstract en figuratief. De textuur van het oppervlak en de kleur worden de basis voor de sfeer die ze met haar weefsels wil creëren. Voor haar meest recente werk was Vlietland een grote inspiratiebron.
