I have came across a lot of people, parents, and OGs while being in the hair business that did not know these tips. We were told to stay away from water (especially if you had a perm) when in actuality we were depriving our tresses of much needed moisture. LOC & LCO is so important, in fact i believe it’s the most important part of any hair care regimen. L.O.C. Method 

I don’t know if you remember or not a few years back when everyone and their mamas were talking about the L.O.C. Method for curly hair! It was absolutely everywhere, youtube, facebook, instagram, anywhere the natural community was it was talked about there too. 

What is the L.O.C. Method?

You’re probably asking yourself what is this L.O.C. method this chick keeps talking about? Well first off your must be living under a rock... or be a newbie to the natural world (then I might let you slide). Either way that’s why I am here to teach you my beauties. As you can see above L.O.C. is an acronym, each letter means a different step of the process. 

L - Liquid or Leave In Conditioner

This would be the first set after washing your hair on your way day. While your hair is damp you would grab your favorite leave in and apply it to your hair or keep your hair wet and the water would be your “liquid”.

O - Oil

The second step of this process would be applying your favorite oil or oils your hair after your leave in/liquid. Now depending on your hair type (which you can learn more about and find yours out in my first post below) you would need to choose an oil that your hair will soak up nicely. The finer your hair the lighter oils work best, the thicker your hair the thick oils would work best. If you guys would like a chart on different oils let me know. 

C - Cream

Lastly, cream is any type of heavy cream styling product you put on your hair. It would be shea butter, twist cream, pomade, any type of styler that holds and defines your curls.

This method is common because it covers everything you need to complete on wash day while keeping it short and simple with products. This method can be used on twist outs, braid outs, and even wash and go’s. However, some people do prefer to keep it even simpler with sticking to 1 or maybe 2 products only.
