Love the parallel of Lucanis and Erie and how they view wealth. Both of them like fine things but very much in an old money vs new money kind of way. Lucanis was born into wealth while Erie plundered for it. Lucanis' wealth has just always been, while Erie has always had to seek it out. Lucanis' wealth is generational, from a wealthy Crow house while Erie went off on her own to seek out her own fortune. Lucanis appreciates fine things simply because he always has while Erie appreciates them because she had to solve eight puzzles and climb to the top of an ancient ruin to get it, and for her, that's half the fun.

That's right folks, he's the son of Fenris and my mage! Hawke

Backstory stuff:

Born a Tevinter slave, until he was rescued by Isabela when she raided the imperial ship he was on when he was 10. She asked Hawke and Fenris if they were willing to take him in, and they agreed.

Fenris taught him to fight, but he has Hawke's humor.

Joined the Lords when he was 18, mostly because Isabela convinced him and he thought it would he fun.

He generally doesn't tell people his dad is the Champion of Kirkwall, partially for safety reason, partially because people tend to get Weird (TM) about it. He usually doesn't tell people his last name, but after he began hunting Solas, he started using Laidir when necessary because he didn't want to put his dads in extra danger.

Varric originally sought him out, having met him a few times when visiting Hawke, because he knew he'd be a good fit for the team to hunt Solas. So when all the stuff went down with that Rivaini noble, he was more than happy to take him out of Rivain for a bit.

Anyway that's all, just wanted to show him off ❤️❤️❤️

I've always tried to see Alessio as my canon Lucanismancer, but I can't. Every time I try to come up with headcanons or write a story about them, I just picture Taaras instead. So... I guess Taaras has made himself my canon Lucanismancer. Hence, I had to make him again. He demanded it. 🤷‍♀️

On the one hand, I understand why the Lords of Fortune aren't that popular.

In terms of gameplay, the damage boost against mercenaries isn't all that useful. And in terms of roleplay, you don't get much information out of how the group works.

However, on the other hand, I love them so so much, they have my dear friend Hollix and Isabella and Taash, and they have a random coliseum in their bar with a big death hole in it that no one talks about and they have some fascinating contradictions.

They seem pretty tight-knit, but have a decent amount of problems with traitors (Taash's quest and the Laidir backstory)

They're essentially pirates, but they don't steal cultural artifacts (from the sounds of things, anything else is fair game) and seem really in touch with Rivaini culture, what with the amounts of spirits and Seers you see in their base.

They rescue slaves (Laidir again) but it's not a big aspect of the group, like the Shadow Dragons.

I know to a lot of people they were disappointing and not "realistic" enough, but any issues I had kind of went away when I realized that Isabella is leading them ("just don't be an asshole" leadership makes sense for her)

Also, they seem like a fun bunch and I love coastal representation.

The Emperor: What does Rook's leadership style look like? He hates how he has to lead shit, but he can’t push into his crew mates (He’s got two qunari friends who use to tag team with because a dwarf means your not that intimidating, but a couple of 6ft + tall qunari really help.) So hes a supportive dad, but also will tell you what to do because trust him, he’s done this before (or something simular, not saving the world but being in a lot of unnecessary danger) He does have a hand with leadership with Emmrich (and another rook). But this is his to finish since Varric left it him to do so.

The World: What does happily-ever-after look like for Rook? Is it attainable, or just wishful thinking? If you had asked Histon about it before the event of Veilguard, he would have said no. Escaping the slavery was as much as he could hope for. Anything else was like a wishful thinking, even if he didn’t know what he actually wanted.  When Histon met Emrrich he realised he did want to have someone special in his life, the weight finally came crashing down on him. He’s 45 years old, trying to save the world (for what I believe to be the 3rd time in about 20/30 ish years.) and he wants someone to love and love him back. He saw Emmrich and went “I wonder if he’ll marry me?”. Hes done everything else, had a family, raised kids, and his kids (his sisters kids he helped give care too) have children of their own and he wanted to share that with someone too.

The Tower: How does Rook respond to unexpected catastrophe? Sympathy, he’s there to help you as best he can.

The Moon: How does Rook's past impact their values? Does their past come with any biases or blind spots they have to account for? Mans got no real soft stop for Tevinter and its bullshit, of cause he feels bad after siding with Treviso but also his distain at Tevinter wasn’t the problem there, they got a magic armour they fine. (They were not). Man’s got even less for nobility after the Lords of Fortune threw him under a bus. He’s also very pissed at Isabella for the SECOND forced retirement. He’s never resented Tevinters working and lower class, in fact he’s been there as a slave. He also does listen to people not matter who they are and he’s not about to start a fight with someone to get them to listen, he’s usually right. So for a man that’s kinda annoyed at a lot of things, hes too sore to start a fight UNLESS he REALLY needs too

The Sun: What is Rook passionate about? How do they fuel that passion? Fishing? Treasure Hunting? I don’t know.

The Hanged Man: What does Rook do when their hard work doesn't pay off? How do they cope with failure?

After being forcefully retired twice, he just shakes his head and tries and move on. But the loss of Harding hit very hard for him. Even with the win, he still misses Harding, she was a good friend and reminded him of his daughters so much, read hair and freckled. Perky attitude and the friendships he had made with her. Being the only other dwarf on the team, finding out about their ancestors together was very important. But deep down, he knew she would return to the stone something keeps telling him she’ll be back, just not now, a little later.
