I’m still not sure if we’re not all delusional and overestimating the writers of the show or not. I mean, maybe everything is as it seems right now? But, i’m so paranoid by now i don’t trust anyone lol

I mean …

🍎Phee. He was Non’s boyfriend, they seemed very sweet together. He was concerned about Non spending time with the gang, and prevented a suicide attempt. He also seemed pretty suspicious of Non spending time with Keng – and i wondered why he’d jump to the Non cheating on him immediately. It seemed a little weird in the moment? He even cried. idk.

He was the one to bring their relationship to the next level, he wanted Non to change schools, and even got his father involved to help Non. This could be just teenage impulsiveness – or show how serious he was. When the video was leaked he was deeply hurt; both bc Non lied to him when he directly asked if there was anything between Non and Keng, and bc he considered that cheating (it’s not, but bear with me). And in that moment, he reacted very, very badly. What he said to Non ist awful, but especially considering he knows about Non’s mental health issues. Also, there was again this underlying message of Non having cheated (or lied?) before. That made me wonder again. When Non vanished, Phee never got the chance to clear things up. To either make up or break up. He was left hanging, with the gang and the police claiming Non most likely left with Keng.

So, what did Phee know? He knew that the gang treated Non badly, but i’m pretty sure he had no idea about the extent – the camera, the details of the money laundering, the mafia. So, when New (I’ll stay with that name) showed up, he found an ally. Someone who also cared for Non (and who also felt guilty, but i don’t think they shared that), and wanted to find out what happened. I’m still not sure if for Phee it was more about finding closure for himself or make the gang answer for what they did. Either way, i don’t think he had murder on his mind lol

He could seriously have caught feelings for Jin. I don’t see the chemistry, tbh, but that could be copper’s acting. I also don’t see the common interests ppl talk about, but whatever. He was definitely torn between his feelings for Jin and the Plan™. And after seeing that news report about Non and Keng he pushed Jin away (and Jin is still hearbroken enough about that after 3 years to chomp on Phee’s dick lol). But I seriously struggle with Phee considering the gang his friends (like he called them in ep 10). Yes, he spent time with them and yes, they never treated him badly. But he knows they’re bullies. He knows something happened. It just feels ooc for him to just ignore that?

So where does that leave me? Idk i can see both. Phee wants to move on, and joined New in this last scheme to leave that part of his life behind. One last try and then he’s done. Find out what he can. So, when the guys start dying, and everything’s out of control, he confesses to Jin (we still can’t be sure if everything he says is true or just conjecture on his part tho). Giving Jin the water was just a brain fart, and he really found the axe by accident. And they hold hands on the way to the house, and he lets the axe thoughtlessly fall to the ground. It would be … unsatisfactory for me, but possible.

OR (🤡): He’s in on everything. He may really like Jin or not, but he never abandoned the Plan™. What he tells Jin about Por’s and Dang’s deaths, again, may be true or not, but he confesses to Jin just to get a confession in return. He knew the water would be drugged, he knew where the axe was, and left it fall conveniently in front of the house for someone else to pick up later etc. Convoluted, but possible 😊 (i still think the markings on the trees were off)

🧪Now. New. He’s pretty straightforward, i think. He wants the gang to go down. He wants to know the truth of course, but he wants to punish them. Depending on Phee’s „loyalty“, Phee is either on his (s)hit list or his ally, both is still in the cards. He may have found another ally altogether, either one from the gang, OR the 9th person. It’s possible that the killing is his doing, just like Phee told Jin – he hates the gang, and it’s not like he has anything left to lose. On the other hand, we never saw him do any of it, we just have Phee’s story. And i don’t trust anything i don’t get to see with my own two eyes anymore lol

🎞Jin. Well. He has morals, but in the end they don’t mean shit. He’s nice to Non and tries to, idk, make the gang be less assholey to Non, but is ineffective. I personally think he’s just nice bc he likes Non, not because of altruism. (But i’m biased) And when it became obvious that Non not only wasn’t interested in him but also imperfect (being raped aka „cheating), he couldn’t cope. He took the video, he leaked it, he let Thee take a drugged Non away, and he lied about Non running away with Keng. And, like, three minutes after Non’s disappearance he fell deeply in love with Phee(‘s abs).   I found interesting that he „outed“ Tan as New, but not Phee as Non’s boyfriend. And that he claimed he’d trusted Thee. Sure you did.

💉Fluke. He’s a wild one. The most revealing thing he said until now was that he didn’t want to be like Non. He kept quiet bc he knew he could/would have been the next victim of the gang. Interestingly, he knows the most about the bullying, i think. He was there when Top broke the camera and Thee set up Non. He was there when Jin filmed Non and Keng. He’s a little like Jin, in that he knows what’s happening is wrong, but doesn’t intervene.

Maybe the drugs hit him harder bc he’s already high strung and stressed? Idk, i find him weird. I’m not sure if the most logical reaction to a masked killer hunting you and your friends is to … grab a gun and threaten everyone around you? But again, it might be the drugs causing this.

I don’t really see him as a secret ally to New. What would be his motive? Or more like, what would override his very strong instinct of self preservation? He has a lot to lose, and basically nothing to gain.

💰Thee. Ugh. His life sucks, and he’s a victim of his circumstances. I think, in a way, that’s what fuels his distaste for Non. He sees how similar they are, in a way – and like Fluke, he needs to distance himself from Non. When Non told Thee to get out of the mafia situation he’s in, i was worried. I think Thee reacts badly to percieved pity from the wrong kind of person. He did the most damage to Non, realistically. He supported the idea to let Non write the script (as soon as he heard there might be money in it), he set Non up to be the fall guy for the camera/the debt and pulled him into the whole mafia bs. And he drugged him and delivered him to his uncle.

I also think he’s (maybe like Fluke) the most realistic of all oft hem. He knows what he’s doing, he had to grow up quickly, he has no (or not many) illusions about the world he lives in. He knows his actions doom Non. I no longer think he’s doing it gleefully, but he doesn’t hesitate that much, he has too much to lose.

From his (re)actions in ep 10 i don’t really think he’s a secret ally to New or Phee (or Non), but i do see how he could be. I think he really cares about White, and wants to be better. He knows the gang too well to like them. And from the preview … he knows more than he told in ep 10. Maybe he tried to save Non, maybe he failed? Maybe it’s a tit-for-tat – i help bring down Uncle Joe, you help me bring down the gang?

Not that i believe that’s what happened, but let me clown, ‘kay?

👶White. Well, we know next to nothing about White’s backstory, so he has potential lol. Most importantly he’s an outsider to the original gang, like New, and like Phee. He could really be just a lil dude, on a terrible, terrible weekend trip with the boyfie. He’s cute, and scared, and submissive.

But he also somehow ends up in the focus again and again. The radio, the knife, the hard drive, … He’s so good at influencing Thee, it’s impressive! And … idk, maybe he doesn’t like guns, and doesn’t want his boyfriend to shoot anyone, and that’s both pretty normal lol. On the other hand „forget the gun!“ seemed odd to me. In that situation i most definitely wouldn’t want to forget the gun, i would want to have it, even just to make sure no one else had it. When he gets the gun, he (again!) puts it somewhere it could be easily taken (to what end, i have no idea, maybe just to cause chaos??), and later convinces to let Top be, bc he’s tied up now 😊 and won’t be able to get free 😊 after which Top gets free 😊 and is shot (😊). He also confuses me because he seems to go from tiny scared cinnamon roll to rational strong cinnamon roll.

So, if New has another ally, he seems the most likely candidate? For now? As of ep 10? But idk.

In the end, they’re probably all just confused idiots in a cabin in the woods, and Non somehow is out there, taking them out one by one. and that's okay, too.

hi storm! i just wanted to say that i have been following your blog since last year and i wanted to share my bts/jikook story in response to anon sharing how they came across bts and how bts motivates them to do/try different things. depending on if i get hate or not for this i will come out from anonymity as i think you might now know who this is :-) i want to state 1st that i am a music snob and i lose interest in music very quickly at least after 2010 i started to feel that way, i also want to point out that from 2010-2020 ( why did i pick a pandemic to not be depressed anymore? lol) i was what you call a functioning depressed person, so when i came across BTS music i became enthralled and moved by them something i never thought would happen as they have reignited my passion and love for music and they have kept me from relapsing back into depression and i will NEVER go back again no matter what :-) so anyways i became army between BS and dynamite ERA but it wasn't right away because i was still learning what it means to be an army so in the process of me learning all the members names i began to also learn about their personalities and jimin ended up becoming my ultimate bias but, would you believe that i actually didn't like jimin at first? i know right what the hell is wrong with me?? but its not for the reasons that people might think and i want to emphasize that i NEVER EVER hated jimin, hate is such an ugly thing to have in your heart there is a big difference between not liking someone and hating them. and this was all before i knew about the hate he was getting(for no reason i might add) this was something with me personally that i expereinced watching compilation videos of the guys so anyway in my binge-watching, i came across a video with jimin in it and he had pink hair BWL era maybe? so yeah in this video he was looking down at the floor and then all of a sudden he raises his head up slowly and looks directly at the camera like dead center almost like something caught his attention (if you can find the video pls share it because i cant find it no more) and i swear i know its not possible but when he looked directly at the camera i felt like he was looking through me like right though my soul because he had the most serious expression on his face and at that moment that he looked at the camera its hard to explain the feeling but i guess the closest would be a jolt like i felt like i got shocked i guess? in my heart? and that happened in that same moment which freaked me out and i was like WTH just happened? so i was like confused and weirded out thinking i was going crazy or maybe it really all was in my head idk, but i didnt like how it made me feel and because that didnt happen to me watching any of the other members, for like 2 weeks i kina avoided watching videos of jimin for fear i might experience that again lol but then i stopped being foolish and started watching videos again and i began to learn that the more i watched him the more i realize how very similair mine and his perosnalities are and i began to love him and love everything about him which brings me to say that anyone who hates jimin or any bts member for that matter clearly its a them problem/issue that they need to deal with and work though instead of projecting their insecurities on the guys(i'd like to think that they actually hate themselves and so they project that onto other people to make themselves feel better) whatever helps them sleep at night **eye roll** so now onto jikook i came across jikook when i started watching jimin more and i always noticed how jk would always be around/near jimin or just close proximity of him in general but i know that jk likes to be close with his members so i didnt think much of it until i started noticing that in their off work time that jikook would always hang out with e/o and then i started noticing the cute flirting/teasing and the WAY that they looked at each other and the soft tones that only they use with each other *** to be continued in another ask***

who would you say are the greatest actresses of all time?

Idk, it's all personal taste and my taste shifts a lot.

Call it cliche, I think it's hard to argue against Meryl Streep's range and versatility, the full portfolio she's put together, as it is--her reputation is absolutely earned. I also think she does something consistently well, which a lot of actors, I've noticed as of late especially, don't even seem to bother trying... Accents. I've seen Meryl do Italian, Danish, Polish, Southern, different Southern, whatever the fuck Margaret Thatcher had going on vocally, Julia Child's super distinct voice. I'm not saying she doesn't fall back on some standbys at points, but I think she knows she can because Meryl phoning it in is often still kinda better than a lot of her costars. She showed up for like 30 seconds to sing at Amanda Seyfried (and Meryl doesn't even have the pipes like that lol) in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and I wept so.

Viola Davis is just incredible, and probably more talented when you get down to the bare brass. She's another one who can show up and do in like 5 minutes what everyone else can't get done without a 2 hour movie (Doubt, where she out-acted Meryl). She can do vampy high soap theatrics (HTGAWM), historical epics (The Woman King), biopics (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom). She's just beyond, and if it wasn't for the insane racism in Hollywood she'd most definitely have more accolades than she does. It kind of makes you wanna scream when you consider the amount of roles she should have been in the running for against the amount she has been in the running for.

From waaay back when, I think that Vivien Leigh comes to mind for me as an Old Hollywood actress. Might be controversial, but I think that you have to remember that Vivien did not act onscreen that much, so we only have so much footage of her performances... But like? How ever much Gone with the Wind has a fuckton of serious issues, I think her performance was pretty groundbreaking in terms of the amount of time she had to carry, the difficulty of the character and her emotions, and the kind of edgy quality to it all. Then she's arguably BETTER in A Streetcar Named Desire. The slow descent into insanity? Please.

Nicole Kidman is actually up there for me, because I think that when she is on, she does some of the best like "put your camera on an actress's face and watch her fuck shit up" acting. Her monologue in Stoker where she just goes off in this low voice about hating her child and takes in this shaky breath? So so good. She can do all the vampy campy shit with movies like Practical Magic and Moulin Rouge, she can do weird as fuck shit (Birth, Dogville), she can be the villain (To Die For).

Anyway, these are just a few--I also love (the work of) Michelle Yeoh, Angela Bassett, Sophia Loren, Gong Li, Isabelle Adjani, Toni Collette, Olivia Colman, and many more. I tried to stick to people who've been working or worked long enough for me to feel like I got their vibe? There are obviously talented younger actresses, but I think it can take a while to prove your impact.

ok so i have been pretty offline and not keeping up w a lot of svt content so this conversation completely missed my radar ! i assume ur talking about this video since thats what ive seen recent conversation abt when i went looking.

- i do want to clarify i am not someone who has had to deal with fatphobia, so my word should not hold as much weight as those who have, and it should be important to uplift the voices of those most impacted by such comments.

we see comments like this often in kpop. an idol’s life revolves around being skinny and packaged of that perfect doll (and only a skinny one!), and the culture in korea (and east asia as a whole) further enforces that. however ! having HAD to deal with such pressure to be skinny they know very well how uncomfortable comments about your weight to be, no matter how joking in tone. in the video hoshi first makes a very unnecessary comment abt seungkwan being a “pig” - perhaps to make light of how peder had been commenting on how little seungkwan was eating - and no matter how the language difference affects the meaning of pig in korean, seungkwan very clearly expresses his displeasure with this comment (tho definitely exaggerated for the cameras). kwan has been dealing with comments like these for years and we have seen how painfully its affected his self esteem and body image, and the members know this. hoshi should definitely know better! right after the video cuts to when peder accidentally says boohae and the rest of bss joke to try and explain the meaning of the word thru their language difference. this also reads like theyre trying to make light of the situation, but dk telling peder to call seungkwan boohae again after theyd cleared up the misunderstanding is DEFINITELY crossing a line and i think thats the part i take most issue with, personally. these clips mostly seem to be the results of some poor taste in jokes taken too far.

ultimately, this is an issue seungkwan needs to clear up with his members, if it really is an issue. theyve known each other for (more than) a decade, so they can (and have) set boundaries about what to joke about and what not to - i’d be surprised if they hadnt already set boundaries abt this topic, but its not my place to pry into their personal lives and relationships with each other, nor it is my place to decide what they should do about this matter! there have been repeated offenses of fatphobic comments by various seventeen members so i do think it is very important that we talk with them about the harm these comments can cause, both to the people listening and the people they are talking about.

you are going to run into fatphobia in kpop spaces. from idols (both about themselves and the people around them), their companies, and from fans. but it really shouldnt be like that! it really shouldnt. this is a topic we do have to approach with nuance, considering both cultural and language differences, as well as the working conditions of an idol, but we cant simply excuse these comments because of that. idols should know better, and if they dont, we have the power to let them know that!

i hope we can continue to foster productive conversations about these issues and include idols in these conversations. i do firmly believe people are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them; we just have to make sure we are giving idols the opportunity to learn, and educate themselves, after making these comments. as fans, we are the people powering and funding this whole industry, and we do have power from this! i know its possible to make kpop a better space. it just takes time and a group effort. i have seen a lot of people write off serious, important criticism of groups as simply “hate” - which ultimately trivializes the whole issue and doing so does not accomplish anything. dogpiling on someone for a mistake can also make them feel attacked and adverse to changing if its not handled with enough tact. fandom spaces as a whole need to develop the skill of being able to seriously face topics that need addressing and learning how to then work together to solve/better these problems. the original(?) account i saw that posted the clips this month, a year after the videos posting, did have a history of posting derogatory tweets about hoshi, but that does not make the issue of fatphobia and body shaming among seventeen & kpop as a whole any less real, or any less in need of addressing. Sam Wilson’s Feelings Towards Bucky Barnes

In this meta, I’m arguing that Sam Wilson, as he is portrayed in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, has romantic feelings for Bucky Barnes. Before you think I’m overreaching and reading too much into this show, read on and think about the evidence I’m going to present. Could a simple friendship explain the differences in Sam’s interactions with other characters versus his interactions with Bucky?

Disclaimer: I’m not saying that Disney is going to show us a homosexual couple. Honestly, I don’t think that’s going to happen. I’m not accusing anyone of queerbaiting either. I don’t want to enter into that argument. I just believe that Sam Wilson is a man in love with another man. 

Sam’s Demeanor with Bucky:

In episode 1, we have a delightful scene between Sam and Torres, who seems to genuinely admire Sam. After taking a video of Sam speaking Arabic, the impressed Torres makes a few light comments. Sam responds with a smile but maintains a serious demeanor and cracks minimal jokes. He doesn’t relax or drop his guard. Compare that to his drastic change in attitude in episode 2. After only spending 3 minutes with Bucky, he’s talking about wizards and sorcerers and something about hats. 

And he’s always joking around with Bucky. He doesn’t let himself do that with other characters on the show, not even his own sister. This shows that with Bucky, Sam feels like he can relax more. For some reason, he feels safe with Bucky to show his true self.

Sam checks on him, constantly

In episode 1, we find out that Sam has texted Bucky post blip several times. Enough times that Bucky’s therapist, Dr. Raynor, uses that to gauge how well Bucky is connecting with other people. She admonishes him for ignoring Sam’s texts. In episode 3, we find out that Sam hasn’t given Sharon the same treatment. He hasn’t texted or called her, despite the fact that she had placed her career on the line for him, Steve, and Bucky. His only concern was Bucky and to see how he was doing.

Not only did he text Bucky, but Sam is periodically checking on his state of mind and well being, showing genuine concern and care. 

“You good?” 

“What’s going on in that Cyborg brain of yours?” 

Again, we don’t see him check on other characters like this. Bucky gets special treatment.

Sam lets Bucky do what he wants

The keyword here is lets. Sam lets Bucky do whatever the f*ck he wants to do because he’s weak in the face of Bucky’s desires and demands. Sam can be very stubborn, he’s just subtle with it. In the show, he refuses to give up on the boat, refuses to give into his sister’s demands, and tries to think of solutions for this problem. That bank scene not only hints at the consequences of the blip and other social issues, but it highlights Sam’s intelligence and determination. When he wants something, he will work hard to get it. That’s why he survived so long as Steve’s partner-in-crime when they were on the run. And he still hasn’t given up on the boat.

Yet, we see this intelligent, stubborn man cave into Bucky over and over again. First, Bucky wants to come with him on the mission in episode 2. Sam says no, but Bucky is sitting with him on the plane in the next scene. If Sam truly didn’t want Bucky to come, he wouldn’t have let him come. He isn’t a pushover- he gave up Steve’s shield because he couldn’t stand the idea of being the new Captain America. Some other examples: Sam lets Bucky go in to see Zemo alone and goes along with his plan to use Zemo’s connections to find out more about the super-soldier serum.

Sam keeps touching Bucky’s metal arm

He’s touched Bucky’s metal arm a total of three times. The first time, after rolling in the flowers, he lets his hand rest on it. This is almost a comforting gesture, one that is entirely unnecessary, but the camera lingers on the touch for a few seconds. Next, in the therapy scene, he pointedly slaps Bucky’s vibranium arm. In episode 3, Sam protectively grabs Bucky when he sees that the danger has increased in the bar. The touch helps snap Bucky out of his Winter Soldier mode. 

This shows a fascination with what makes Bucky different and dangerous, which could be the type of people Sam’s attracted to sexually. Let’s not forget that Sam had expressed physical attraction towards Black Widow, who is the embodiment of sensuality and danger. Sam Wilson has a type, and Bucky fits it.

Sam calls Bucky “Buck”

 It’s the nickname Steve had for Bucky, and it’s interesting that Sam seems a little bothered when Bucky says he couldn’t use it.

“Why not? It’s what Steve called you?”

“Steve knew me longer. And Steve had a plan.”

Sam rolls his shoulders, a gesture of discomfort. He says, “I have a plan.” Almost like he wanted to say, now, can I call you “Buck,” too? It’s also very illuminating to hear this nickname when Sam’s afraid for Bucky’s life in episode 3:

“Buck!” Sam yells.

The nickname shows a deeper level of intimacy between Sam and Bucky, something that Sam wants. That’s why he uses it, remarks on Steve having used it, and continues to use it. 

Sam lets himself argue with Bucky

Again, the keyword here is lets. Sam is a very controlled person. I’ve read numerous posts about all the things that Sam has to deal with - blip, institutionalized racism, Captain America’s mantle, that mantle being given to a lesser suited individual, losing his boat, losing his friends, and losing the connection with his family. Yet, Sam holds himself together very well. He doesn’t break dangerous criminals out of prison (looking at you Bucky), and he tries to follow his values in a world that is making less and less sense to him. 

Yet, with Bucky Barnes, he allows himself the freedom to argue with him. They argue in episode 2 numerous times, but I’m going to focus on the argument in episode 3. I loved that random back-and-forth in the middle of a fight scene. I cannot picture Sam doing something like that with Steve, and he definitely wouldn’t argue like that with anyone else. With Bucky, we see Sam let his guard down to bicker and voice his immediate feelings and thoughts. We don’t see this happen with anyone else! He’s usually more guarded with his true thoughts and emotions.

What does Bucky feel?

Unfortunately, I don’t see clear evidence that Bucky reciprocates his feelings. There’s evidence that some feelings are forming (I have high hopes for the pulling Sam’s hand closer to his chest scene!), and the genuine bond is there. As of now, Sam’s feelings run deeper. It’s understandable because Bucky is a man in transition. He doesn’t know who he is, and we can see that struggle in some small details here and there: for example, when Sam wedges his thigh between his in the therapy scene, Bucky places his hands over his crotch in an insecure position. Sam, on the other hand, is relaxed and secure in his identity. Bucky is still struggling to adjust to the modern world when he’s a 1940s man at heart. Plus, there’s Steve. According to Sharon, Bucky was “Mr. America” (LOL). He needs more time to solidify himself and his feelings.

Where did these feelings come from?

Sexual attraction (sexy and dangerous is Sam’s type)

Bucky is probably the only person in his life who makes sense. Everything else is so different and difficult.

He was Steve’s close friend, and Sam loved and respected Steve.

Bucky ignites his protective instincts. Bucky emphasizes this when he says that Sam gave up so much for him. (Interesting that Bucky doesn’t mention Steve, who wanted to save his best friend and helped to convince his current friend to help him do that.)

Perhaps, Bucky reminds him of Riley (would love to see a Riley flashback)

He feels a connection to the loneliness he sees in Bucky. Despite the people in his life and his natural charisma, Sam strikes me as a solitary figure.

Ultimately, we still know very little about Sam and Bucky, and we have three episodes left of the show, so many things can change! Hopefully, the change will be good for this ship.

DNP went to the circus (1, 2, 3) and had cake at their house (1, 2) and then again at the radio station on Sunday. This is also the first year Phil posted a photo in his tweet for Dan’s birthday. 😊

Porn star au.

Imagine the reader is a porn star, a semi-famous one. and the Yan is the camera man. And he's the camera man of her videos 90% of the time, so at first he probably didn't like her too much, because "she's doing it for money and therefore doesn't respect herself/is a whore." While ignoring the fact he's also working there, just as the camera man-

Anyway, one day she invites him for coffee on their break or something and for whatever reason, he goes. And then he learns she's not a bad person, just in it to make some quick money she needed for whatever reason. Maybe she was really behind on her rent, maybe no other place would hire her so she resorted to becoming a porn actress, etc.

And then, after getting to know her for a few weeks, or even months, he catches the dreaded feelings. At first he denies it to himself, there's no way he would like a porn star. She can't be faithful, at least not in the physical aspect.

It's her job to have sex with different people on camera for Christ's sake!

But he still can't get her out of his head and he finds himself wanting to kill the other person she's having sex with. His grip on the camera gets a little too tight, he starts glaring at the other person, he tries to take up the reader's time whenever she's free, tries to stop her from "working" in subtle ways at first, but then it just gets out of hand.

I might actually write a fic for this but probably not.

Anyway, that's the idea of porn star! Au. And ngl, I kept thinking of Xiao when I wrote this even though he's the least likely to even work in the porn industry lmao.

I love the idea of him getting progressively more and more bothered by watching her get fucked by other dudes... and they start talking more and more regularly so he gets more and more attached... and it keeps him up all night. But what about rent? He says she doesn’t have to worry about that... she can... move in with him. He’ll take care of her. He can afford it, promise!

And of course darling is freaking out a bit because you barely know this guy, he's always been quiet and kinda abrasive, even has some antisocial tendencies, and now he's showing up at your door that you didn't give him the address to, going on about coming to live with him? Clearly he's got some serious issues and you're not safe.... So you back away, even run and lock the door.

He doesn't yell. He just kinda... Sighs. He was in a manic sort of state but once you do that, he realizes why you'd be scared... So he does the only other thing he knows how to do. He's a simple boy with simple solutions, not socially apt, not holding financial power, none of that. It's more straightforward than that - you can't keep your job if all your coworkers are dead <3

It's more Khushi pulling a prank or NK messing with Dadi than... idk Arshi escaping from kidnappers or Shyam planning to kill Anju lol

And it does not happen once or twice and as much as I understand they have to rush through final brushings by precaps but it takes away all the enthu I hold for the seriousness of the coming episode.

Lol I'd say those are editing issues. Like last minute they needed to send the edit to the channel to air it and couldn't probably find an audio clip so they made do with whatever clip they could find *lol*

I laughed at how they had edited the precap for the attempted consummation at the hut. I couldn't stop laughing cause it was literally intercut with the goons surrounding the hut. First of all, I can't think of sexy times if those goons are around *lol* and seriously, these guys are thinking of having sex when they should... RUN AWAY.

But sometimes I like watching the precaps cause they end up adding promos they've already shot or they add in another camera angle so I feel like I'm watching an extra moment of the show!!!

I just saw y the HYBE x Ithaca Holdings video and it really hit me with some realisations. HYBE partnering with them is bound to change some things in a huge way. Collabs and economics notwithstanding, Ithaca is home to NUMEROUS big name artists. I want to focus on the fact that: (1) Beiber is a heavily tattooed dude, I wonder if this fact will give some leeway for Kook to be a bit more free with his existing tatts or allow him to continue getting more. (2) Demi is an openly queer woman. This, along with how open Ithaca’s artists are with their support for the LGBTQ+ community, makes me wonder how it will influence HYBE artists who might be queer themselves (looking at Jikook 👀). I fully know that culturally Korea is its own thing and HYBE its own entity, but I think this might open up some doors for our boys both musically speaking as well as regarding their own selves. Dearest Goldy of mine, what do you think?

But I think you are basically asking if this new acquisition will in effect impact the lifestyle of BTS, specifically Jikook as queer people in any way?

I'd say no- especially on the issue of tattoos. But I might be wrong. I just think it takes more than a business merger to undo a person's lifestlye and or socialization or even influence it.

Unless of course, this merger guarantees them certain universal rights and protections outside their culture and political system I don't see how it's to profit them as queer people in any major way.

Whatever impact I'd say is rather intangible.

I've said a few times now how BTS by virtue of their presence in the international community, in my opinion, are socialized and are expected to be socialized a tad differently from the average regular conservative or even liberal S. Korean person with no external influences whatsoever on their socializations.

Your socialization informs your lifestyle.

Justin, Troye, RM and other artists have undoubtedly had and perhaps continue to have an influence on Jk musically and lifestyle wise, to some extent, but he has his own unique values and beliefs and morals that has been acquired and instilled in him through the years independent of these influences.

He is his own person afterall.

Plus did you see the arm sleeve on the director of the MV for Home? He is surrounded at the work place with people that are tatted too. It can't be just Justin B.

He saw a girl with tattoos and said that was something he'd love to have one day when he got of age and he got it- in spite of Suga's objection. He's always expressed interests in tattoos and wanting to become a tattoo artist.

He got these tattoos in spite of the inconveniences they pose to his expressions of self within his career and society- as tattoos are still pretty much stigmatized in S.K and aren't legally allowed on certain broadcasts within S. Korea. And he continues to add on them, draw over them etc way before this merger came into existence.

If he decides that's what he wants he will get them but it wouldn't be because Justin Bieber is heavily tatted or because his company expanded.

I'm not sure what you mean by leeway, but in a recent Run episode (the one with the famous chef) we saw his full arm out and I think that was the first time we had seen his tats on full display on run.

Contrastingly, he had his whole arm bandaged in the Let's BTS interview on KBS.

He covers his tattoos most times because of broadcast rules that prohibits (regulates) not just tattoos but alcohol consumption, cussing, nudity etc on public television that require specific ratings.

Merger or not he will still have to adhere to the laws of South Korea, including entertainment and media broadcasting laws and hide his tattoos as and where.

On the topic of queerness, I think now more than ever BTS would have to become socially, racially and culturally conscious and aware the instant this deal is concluded in May.

Ithaca has one of the most diversified group of artists under its belt- from Quavo who is black to Demi who is queer like you pointed out.

Now more than ever they are at the center of the global conversations we are having in our generation- from racism, to LBGTQ plus marginalizations, to all oppressions of minorities and minority groups.

And with that proximity comes a need to keep themselves in check now more so than ever- which include a check on the cultural appropriation bit, the queer baiting, drawing on queer aesthetics in their 'fan service' culture and other problematic issues that is characteristic of KPop.

What they do now matters more than ever- socially speaking of course.

When Jin started eating a lollipop JM gave him provocatively, JM asked him not to do that on camera but to reserve things like that for the group off camera.

If 'gay' is not gay but their 'culture' I think they know better to keep it to themselves off camera and act 'right' on camera- especially now.

I'm not about to stan a group that capitalizes on the trauma and oppression of me and my people in the name of entertainment. That's just tacky.

On the plus, I think it's great that they be surrounded by other queer folks in the business and be part of a community that welcomes and support queerness so they don't feel like they are the only ones.

That's not to say they aren't surrounded by queer people in their dialy lives.

I mean they have a large staff and I know damn well some of those staffers are queer as well- why wouldn't they be. Lol.

They've always had that 'supportive' environment to foster their relationship- well except for that one time a manager tried to bitch slap JK. Lol. Sorry.

They've always been free and loose in places outside Korea- Japan for one, to be themselves in certain 'controlled" areas of their lives.

I think if anything there's gonna be a focus on creating conducive and inclusive work environments and ethics for everyone not just queer people within the company at large.

I think Jikook can relate more, have certain essential conversations in the group, be exposed to and be part of the 'community' in a way that just felt so distant to them prior to the acquisition- in my opinion.

There is strength in numbers after all. Other than that those two companies might operate like night and day with a few eclipses in between.

The bigger question for me is how SK is going to react to Hybe as an international company from now on. No elite Korean company has openly admitted queer artists within their label. Such revelations presumably is bound to impact their social and economic standing...

Seems in acquiring Ithaca though Hybe have circumvented the conservative problem within Kpop and their culture as they have acquired openly queer artists.

Not that they care about an artist's sexuality. Bang have made it perfectly clear he prioritizes a person's talent over their sexual preference and thus hire artists based on their skills regardless of their sexuality.

But that is also not to say that the company wouldn't be met with harsh criticisms and suffer economic loss should they openly admit the sexuality of certain artists they work with.

I mean he did advise Jo Kwan on the risks he would be taking in going in the direction he wanted to go in with his heels schtick. So he is aware of the risks involved in going public with an artist's sexual orientation.

He talked about Korean companies playing it safe and not taking certain risks especially when it comes to deeds that are deemed 'rebellious' against the Korean conservative way.

-Watch and learn people, if you can't hire openly gay talents acquire their company. Problem solved. Lol.

From May, Hybe will technically officially become the first elite Korean company with openly queer artists under its labels that openly touches on and advocates for LGBTQ plus rights.

BTS has performed with queer artists in the past, dabbled in LGBTQ plus conversations which was mostly met with mixed reactions from the general public- some oblivious to who these artists were much less that they were queer. (Sis laugh with me. Hehe. If you know you know)

It's an interesting development I must say, one I'm very much invested in at this point.

BigHit has always aimed beyond the borders of Korean commercial verse often straddling the line of conservatism, literally just became an international company within South Korea governed by both Korean and American laws that in all essence conflict with eachother morally and constitutionally.

Also, since this is an acquisition and not a merger I doubt if much will change in the structures of either company- the family photoshoots would be interesting to watch.

Imagine trying to get Arianna, Justin, BTS, TXT in one large studio for a photoshoot. I'm literally cackling. Lmho.

Scooter Braun will become part of the board of Hybe to manage the company and he is part owner of Hybe along with Justin, Ariana and BTS who also have shares in the company- until they decide to sell their shares that is.

That's about it.

I'm not sure how these Asian haters are gonna respond to an Asian company taking over 'America.' That's something to watch out for.

Then there's this whole issue of 'scandals' and both campanies view on it.

Western companies feed off chaos and drama and scandals, Kpop is the exact opposite.

Most of these Artists under Ithaca have had some pretty bad records and are prone to scandals and stuff like that. In case of an inevitable future scandal, the news would read 'BTS's so so and so.'

They are gonna make it all about BTS.

I mean when BigHit went public with their IPO and it went south it was all about BTS' 'failed IPO' in the news rather than the company it's self.

I have mixed feelings about this acquisition.

It's obvious BigHit is saving Justin Bieber's label. You don't sell unless you are in some huge financial decline blah blah.

Hybe is keeping them in business while building their own portfolio in the industry. BTS may not have a Grammy but Hybe has several artists with Grammys under it's belt now. Smirk.

The success of Justin, Ariana and all these artists are the success of Hybe which together with the powerhouse that is BTS gives Hybe more prestige- it's like watching the game of thrones but this time it's a bunch of nerds with chapsticks and Prada. Lmho.

At least now people will think twice before they peddle the 'they are not gay, it's their culture' nonsense.

I think Killers of the Flower Moon will be Leo's first (box office) flop in a long time, but I agree, he's probably is the last Movie Star. His career is super impressive. Even with him/De Niro/Scorsese and presumably glowing reviews, there's no way that movie will make the 400M+ needed to turn a profit. Maybe if it was a pulpy crime thriller (it's good its not - would be reductive/disrespectful to the subject), but its apparently meditative and slow. I still think however that does, it'll be an interesting test of Leo as a movie star, esp post pandemic.

(Who are the other movie stars? Pitt's Bullet Train just had underwhelming numbers. Leo never does purely commercial/popcorn stuff like that... Tom Cruise? Jlaw's box office is inconsistent. Emma Stone maybe? Margot Robbie has never had a commercial hit on her own account...I wonder how Babylon does with her/Pitt as the headliners.)

Definitely not Emma Stone, lol. I don't think Margot Robbie is aiming for that kind of career, and tbh I don't think most people of her generation are. Brad Pitt has actually never been super consistent in terms of box office; his beauty (which is all but gone now) and his personal life are what made him super famous, and he benefited by showing up in flashy ensembles (see: the Ocean's movies, which were less about Brad Pitt and more about George Clooney, who imo could have been on a Leo level but never was as interesting with his scripts as Leo, and is always kinda playing George Clooney). Tom Cruise had that movie star factor once but once everyone caught on to him being like... the second in command of an abusive cult, he clearly became aware that he can do *very little* that isn't preexisting action IP. Look at his career post-couch jumping. While the movies perhaps would not be as big as they are without him (see: Maverick) a lot of them could be done without him, and it's a collaboration of his image and the IP's image. I also think Tom (and Brad) suffered from being linked to women who ultimately came to be more taken more seriously than them in a lot of ways. I'll be real--I tend to wonder if Leo purposefully avoids older women because he wants that shine himself. I mean, better to just know you're that guy than try to make a significant woman smaller for you, I guess. But like, Nicole Kidman flourishing as this Great Actress and Generational Talent after breaking up with Tom overshadowed him a lot, and while Angelina acts a lot less now I think that she's seen as more of a Serious Person than Brad. He's doing Bullet Train and blinking at the camera like a deer in the headlights when asked about his kid going to college, she's doing humanitarianism and taking Shiloh to see Maneskin.

I think it's basically Leo these days on the movie star front. Other people who could've been that, imo, have either lost it or are essentially retired or in the end of their careers.

With KoTFM, I tend to not think much about distant predictions because they're wrong as often as they're right, but we'll see. If it does flop, he'll be fine. J. Edgar had basically no long term effect on his career, where it would've been a major hit to another actor's career. Sure, his performance was praised, but it was seen as awkward and weird and it didn't make much money. The next year he did Django and all the criticism of that movie's issues got directed at Tarantino, whereas Leo got the "love or hate the movie, he's great" treatment he tends to get. And that's the thing--FM could financially struggle, but if Leo puts in a good performance, it'll be a "movie was whatever but Leo was good" moment. For actors like him, the thing is that the movie can flop financially but as long as it's seen as "something that said something" the cachet is less affected because the point was never to make money, it was to make a "statement". Whether or not that statement has a point is like.... Not the issue. To compare him again to Adam Driver (who I don't think has any desire to be a movie star, but has a similar cachet and director pull) Annette, for example, made like... no money. It made less than the little money it was made for. But it didn't really matter for him career wise, because the point was "L'ARTE". Obviously, KoTFM has a much bigger budget, but when you're Leonardo DiCaprio, you have the balance to stay in the black professionally if that movie flops financially... As long as it's not like, Martin Scorsese's Showgirls.

10.5 Masterlist

You threw your phone onto your couch and then flopped onto the couch in anger. You yelled into the cushions, blessed they can take your frustrations. Sure it’s been a couple of weeks, but isn’t this ridiculous? Well you were one to talk so you flipped yourself over and sighed deeply.

You knew you got yourself into this mess by not opening up to him from the beginning. But you were only trying to protect him, and look at how well that went. You didn’t want him to know about your family crisis because it wasn’t something that was supposed to be common knowledge. But then again he was your best friend... Still, he was still training and focusing on internships he didn’t have time to deal with your issues. 

You’re about to dive deeper into that well of unending sadness until your phone starts buzzing. It’s a call from Aizawa and you pick up immediately.

“Hello?”

“(Y/n), we’ve had a situation come up. I’ve already called Shinsou and one other. I’ll text you the coordinates but be ready for anything. You still haven’t forgotten your close combat skills right?”

You chuckle softy, “as if I could forget! You two practically killed me.”

There’s silence on the other end of the line.

“Right,” you huff, “not the time.”

“I’ll see you in 15.”

And he hangs up. Whatever the situation is, it must be serious if he’s not budging at all at your banter. That has to be what Shinsou was called over, you muse.

Once you’re at the determined meet up spot, Aizawa and the police chief give you all the rundown. A ragtag team of villains have created a hostage situation in the hotel. A gala for the elites is being held there and it’s been ransacked. Some people have been hurt but none that require surgery or a hospital visit. 

“Which is where you come in. We need you to infiltrate to take care of the wounded and read back the situation to us. They’ve cut off all links of communication and the feed inside the building is on a loop. You’ll have this camera and microphone attached to you. Eraserhead and Mind Jack will be flanking you the whole time.”

“Why them? It could have been anyone,” you asked.

“Yes,” the chief continues, “but the criminals asked for you specifically and then mentioned the other two. Do you understand your role,” the chief turns to your cohorts, “you two as well?”

The two men nodded and you begin to prepare for infiltration. You’re in the middle of getting the camera and mic ready when you feel his presence behind you. 

“I’ve been through worse and you know it.” Once the camera is secured and hidden you turn around to see deep lavender eyes staring back at you.

“I wanted them to use me instead.”

Your eyes roll as you get ready to meet with these villains. “That’s not your call to make. I can handle myself.”

“Yeah I’m aware of that.”

You hadn’t missed the snark and hurt in his tone. “Shinsou we don’t have time for this.” You read over the files of who all is in there and what their quirks may be, lest things go south. “You made it perfectly clear to me you need space. At least honor that.”

With that, you head straight for the hotel, doing your best to not draw attention to Shinsou and Aizawa flanking overhead and enterting from up top; if the villains have a video feed. You walk into the grand lobby and are greeted by one of the crew. He looks you up and down and you do your best to keep a poker face and not snap at him. You do your best to avoid the comment about your body and skin and keep up appearances. With the camera and mic, you do your best to stay silent. Once you’re at the room, you swiftly knock him unconscious, the cue for your flankers to come down. 

“We’ll be right outside here. The minute we hear anything go awry or you’re not back in five minutes, we’re heading in.”

Aizawa’s firm and cold whisper fills the reverberant hallway as you nod. You don’t meet Shinsou’s gaze as you walk into the double doors. The hall where the gala is being held is gorgeous. You wish you could take it all in but once you see what’s around you, that becomes an afterthought. 

You see what appears to be a stage at the front of the hall, and members of the elite all huddled and scared. You make sure to turn your full body around so the police outside can get a better grasp on the situation.

“Ah, (Y/n)! It’s so nice to see you! Please, make yourself useful and help my man here. Poor bastard got stabbed with a shoe. Can you believe this people? The nerve.”

You flinch slightly at the use of your real name and not your working name. You ignore it and go up to the stage where there’s a man bleeding with a shoe stuck in his stomach and a woman, whom you now assume is either dead or close to it. She wasn’t killed by anything loud, so it had to have been a quirk related incident. 

You move down to the injured criminal. “I’m going to take out the shoe, it’ll hurt for a little bit okay?” You words soothe him over until you forcefully take out the shoe. The man cries and curses at the pain but then your quirk goes to work to heal him, repairing the damaged cells and skin as it goes back to being normal.

You hear claps above you as the, you think, pompous leader applauds your work. “Marvelous work! Just as I would expect from someone with a rare healing quirk such as yours.”

That sentence and his accent alone was enough to strike fear into your core. The way this man was acting was too over the top but now you know why.

“Long time no see, that’s the phrase yes?”

Your blood ran cold as his disguise was taken off and you were met with the face of Akira Fukawa, the man behind your attempted kidnapping and the bane of your family’s existence.

“Surprised to see me out of jail? It helps when you have yakuza ties.” You try to approach him in an attack but he read through your movements and only had to touch you once in order for his quirk to activate: time manipulation. Everything seemed to be moving in slow motion for you while Akira appeared at normal speed. “Aww, is this where you were gonna take me out? Pity, that’s what all these people thought too. Poor woman got close but I averted her attack in time. Ashamed I had to kill her though.”

Once the effects have worn off, your arms are tied behind your back and the man you have been afraid of and detested for years at your back. His breath makes you want to vomit but nothing comes out of your mouth, not even clipped words.

“I had always wondered what made you and your family so great. Why everyone from your old home and even the yakuza and Shie Hissaki here wanted you! And now I get it.” Fukawa pulls a knife out from behind you and you try to wiggle your way free but his hold is on you tight. “Your quirk is so rare! A healing quirk that can help detect other health problems in the body? What a sight! Now tell me, what was wrong with my guy over here hmm?”

You steady and calm yourself as you recall using your quirk on the healed man beneath you. “Other than being stabbed with a shoe, his blood thinning is getting worse and his heart may give out soon.”

You hear a satisfied hum behind you and the sound of a strangled cry coming from the once healed man. Did, did he stab him?

“He was on his way out anyways. But really I’ve wanted an audience with you! You, you look delicious. Not like these Japanese women here but-“

“You fetishizing piece of shit!”

“There’s that spunk I was looking for,” he chuckles. “You really are something special. And I want you, actually wanted you for a long time. But now that other people want and have you too...

“I don’t want anyone to have you.” The terrifying man dangles the knife in front of your face, “ see this? It’s quirk cancelling. Been waiting for years to use this.” Your stomach drops lower into your body as you begin to realize your fate. You faintly hear the sounds of the police and the two heroes burst onto the scene but it was too late.

Fukawa menacingly whispers in your ear as the doors open, “say hello to your mother for me.”

You don’t feel anything until you look down at your torso, blood staining your clothes quickly as you lose consciousness.

“(Y/n)!!”
