Ted is an ex-insurance investigator who was able to get his son life-saving medical treatment because his first, original Crime Pal Beard was like ‘Ted if your company doesn’t come through with the coverage, we’re doing things my way.’

The company did not come through. The company did let him go due to suspicion of Ted’s involvement in the incident, but Ted will happily remind folks that no charges were formally pressed. Henry is alive and healthy and living with Michelle, who divorced Ted shortly thereafter (not just because of pre-existing marital problems, but because Ted wouldn’t tell her anything about why the doctors “””suddenly decided to do the procedure for free”””). Shortly thereafter, Ted fled the country.

What Ted learned from the whole experience is that there’s a lot of people out there, good people just trying to live by the rules, but sometimes things happen that are just out of their control. And well- if we’ve got the means to help the good people out when no one else will, then shouldn’t we try?

“We’ve got means,” Beard agrees. “And motives.”

In the temple, Cal loves acrobatics classes and finds ways to get onto the beams in every session. He likes the challenge of twisting and flipping and still landing on his feet. Sometimes it's better than meditation at working out the excess energy. He's not sure why his instructor always looks at him like he's a punishment inflicted upon her by the Force itself. Maybe it's because he hasn't mastered swinging from the high bar to her satisfaction yet? He will, when the beams get too boring.

As a Padawan, it doesn't take him long to find a suitable replacement for the Temple's gymnasium. The Brave has gigantic cargo bays with girders marking out different areas. Sure, these beams are higher than the ones in the Temple, but he's not worried. It's good to work his way back and forth across them when he's full of nervous energy and can't sleep.

(Jaro wonders why Cal's instructor left a note for him in the handover document with a single sentence: 'good luck with this one'. For a moment, Jaro worried Cal might not be particularly acrobatic. Then he finds him turning backflips, twists and layouts in the cargo bay on the support beams high above - without any safety nets.

Gosh but I'm geniuenly soooooo curious about how the royal Bethlehem hotel came to be.

My current personal belief for the building itself is that when London fell only the center portion of the building remained, but that only is commentary on the physical portion of the building.

What actually happened that made it go from being the hospital to the hotel it is? Especially when it's Like That? When and how did The Manager get involved? What was that whole process like, and how did it go over?

I have many questions.
