#for the anon asking who would wear it #any one of my characters WOULD wear it #its just a matter of how...#you dont understand my passion for fashion and what this means ok #it means an article of clothing is not about the clothing at all #its about how it fits and what it goes with and how you choose to wear it #a shirt is not just a shirt its a part of a whole...#I'm so passionate about this... it doesnt really show in my comics but thats mostly cause. there is only so much time I can devote to thing #anyways #adam is able to make anything look good #and steve is able to make anything seem like hes owned it for 10 years #they can both wear anything but in extremely different ways...#anyways this was a nice little break #its been hard HAHAHAHHA not gonna lie having an extremely rough time #I so so so do not want to return working for webtoon #I need you to know I am ONLY doing this for my readers #because I could use more time. #the old guard #kaysanova #yusuf al kaysani #nicolo di genova #siggy draws #it ain't much but it's more than i've drawn in months. i miss this sort of cartoony style. like a dreamworks movie almost lol #my brain conjured an anime ending apparently and i can't explain why #maybe they're too girly looking but i didn't feel like using reference pictures so i guess they're bishounen sdfghfds #ahh i usually have director's commentary in the tags #yusuf is probably around 23-25 and nico is 19-22? though i can't say confidently that yusuf would be able to grow a full beard at 23 #but maybe he can maybe he's just that powerful #they're either very sad and lonely or very pensive. or both. maybe they're longing for something more... maybe a true love #i also dk what these clothes are. yusuf has some good clothes on. is probably flourishing as a merchant but still longs for More #nicolo is wearing... a tunic? but it could be a thin gambeson instead. maybe he's learning how to use a sword #i try to capture their best assets in this doodly style: yusuf's eyelashes and cute ears and weirdly shaped eyebrows #and nicolo's nose and heavy brow and the fact that he has almost no lips from the side lol

Hi!

Unfortunately, I do not have a pattern to give you, but I do have a way for you/your friend to draft your own.

(If you really do just want a ready pattern, I'm pretty sure my #binding stays or #flattening stays tags include some etsy shops that have binders with corsetry methods)

I'm presuming you are here because that 5 year old post of the binder with elizabethan stays method is going around again (left). I've also since made a pair of stays that flatten nicely as well (right).

The left pattern was drafted with the free Custom Corset Pattern Generator from elizabethancostume.net. You just input a little extra breathing room in the waist and the bust measurement you can comfortably squish your chest down to.

However, that was many years ago and I have since had more success using a Mariah Pattie's circular drafting technique. It has so much less measuring and math and it gave me a better fit.

Here's my post on that technique, along with her video.

And here's my post amending that to a binder instead of stays.

In short, all you need is:

a large piece of paper

a string

a pen

a measuring tape and

the measurement of your waist circumference

the measurement of your chest bound down circumference

the measurement of the vertical distance between your waist and chest.

You draw out the pattern following the video + my explanation post (this takes me about 30 minutes vs the hour or two for drafting the usual way). Then I make it longer with a cm or two at the bottom and at least 3 cm on top. One change I've made since that post was to pinch out a little dart at the arms to make it lie smoother under clothes. One day I'm going to experiment with adding straps to this design, but today is not that day.

I kept mine quite low, because I wanted a 18th century round chested look, but with straps and longer stays you could probably go flatter (depending on how much you have to flatten of course).

This is what it looks like under a waistcoat tailored according to a menswear manual:

i'll also drop here the posts of other people who've I've talked about their binders using corsetry and tailoring methods: horsehair canvas summer binder, there's another one about how convenient ribbons are for easy adjustment but i can't find it (EDIT: found it!)
