Still steaming in the energy of the overarching solstice sun rays, this New Moon in cancer will have you blissfully forgetting any of the struggles of the very conflicted Capricorn dominated conversations of the last Full Moon. In the wake and bake of the solstice, our Yang energy gets an overdrive that manifests in contrasting ways. Looking at your focuses on this way down the epic landslide of energy will open up gates of knowledge to understandings about your true identity. Things feel saucy in the right ways this new moon. Yin and Yang are focused on balancing my section of the sky’s influences this lunation cycle. Sometimes I feel the tug of my shadow side urging me to use my head AND my heart. If anyone had asked- God forbid, he’d rather die- Stephen would have rushed to his own defence. He’d probably have done it while turning bright red and spluttering but he’d have insisted it was just a matter of timing.

It wasn’t a lie. He’d have to work right up until he went to meet Lucien if he wanted to get the reports on his last few cases submitted in time. Lucien had meetings early in the morning, Stephen didn’t want to ask him to push their date back any further than he already had and the thought of cancelling...well that wasn’t an option. Not because of Lucien, who was extremely flexible and understanding as far as people in this kind of arrangement went. He just couldn’t and he wasn’t going to give it any more thought than that.

But it was just because of the timing. Stephen wasn’t getting off on this or anything. There just wasn’t going to be time to change into it between the end of his overly long day at the justiciary and the start of his date so wearing it all under his work clothes was the only option. He’d have insisted that until he ran out of air, if anyone had asked, probably before jumping out of the nearest window.

But this, Stephen did have to admit to himself, was entirely indefensible. This was just because he was a hopeless degenerate.

“Just going to the bathroom,” he announced in what he hoped was a casual tone, dropping his pen down with a thunk on the blanket of newspapers spread out on his desk, ones he’d been scouring for signs of magical miscreancy. More than half of their cases came from just noticing something odd in those tiny stories crushed up into the margins of local papers.

From the desk that joined onto his, though much neater and better organised and with less coffee cup rings etched permanently onto it, Esther looked up with a frown.

“I’m not your teacher, Steph. But okay, good for you,” she muttered before turning back to her computer. She’d lost their game of rock paper scissors that morning so it was her turn to deal with all of the emails that were inevitably sent to the justiciary every day, majority of which were complete nonsense and all of which were painful to read.

Stephen winced, snatching up his phone and making a quick exit before he could make it any more obvious that he was hiding something. Getting to the bathroom was harder that it really should have been, given how close the desks were shoved together, how many stacks of papers sat precariously on desk edges, how many odd trinkets and artefacts humming with magic were left to scatter across the faded carpet. But Stephen had worked there amongst the justiciary’s chaos for long enough that he made it to the other side of the cramped office without causing a disaster, only needing to nudge a few things back into place with his power as he went. Thankfully at this hour there was no one else still here to express their irritation.

The bathrooms in the Council Building were a microcosm of the rest of the place- too small, poorly maintained, outdated and a decent place to cry when overstressed, overworked and overwhelming. But for once, Stephen was rather grateful for that fact because it meant the bathroom was only built for one person at a time, meaning he could lock the door and be confident that no one was going to walk in on him doing what he was about to do.

Stephen pushed back his hair and gave a long, steady exhale. Since he’d entered into this arrangement with Lucien Vaudrey he’d been doing a lot of thinking with cock rather than his brain and, honestly, he’d had no reason to regret it yet. Save a few mornings where walking wasn’t as easy as it might have been.

So his brain didn’t get a look in, he put his back to the door and quickly yanked open the first few buttons of his shirt, just enough that he could pull his collar aside and show a little of what was underneath. Not too much, just the start of the lacy paneling that made up the band that circled his upper chest, the edge of one of the black straps that zig zagged across his body in an array that had taken longer to work out than he was willing to admit.

Stephen ran his thumb along the black lace, shivering a little. He’d been so wrapped up in his work since walking into the office that he’d mostly forgotten it was there but every so often he’d shift in his chair or he’d stand too quickly and he’d feel the feathery touch of all that silk slip between his skin and his clothes like a caress. He’d had to shove the awareness away very quickly before it could send any more than a quick jolt to his groin and was just thankful that today had been one spent entirely at his desk.

But he was only wearing it because of the timing. He was on a tight schedule. Of course.

Now, as he flicked his phone camera open with a thumb and held it at a slightly raised angle like he’d seen people do when they knew far more about taking selfies than he did, he couldn’t help but be aware of it all. The way it snaked around his body and held him tight, branching out like roots hidden in the ground, putting the barest pressure on his hips and chest and the curve of his arse like the ghost of Lucien’s hands. Invisible under his deliberate choice of a dark blue shirt and his usual shabby suit, except for the barest glimpse he was allowing. Only known to him.

And now to Lucien.

Stephen took a quick photo of himself, holding his shirt open with one hand, using a little of his power to brighten his eyes. Of course he didn’t find the picture particularly impressive, all he saw when he looked it back over were the hollowness of his cheeks, the jut of his overly large nose and the immense bags under his eyes. How his hair needed brushing and the out of place tooth that showed in the slight part of his lips. But he’d learned to trust Lucien’s opinion on these things, his blindness to all the flaws that jumped out to his own eyes, and his lover’s response to this picture was too good to pass up for the sake of insecurity.

So he opened up the many texts he’d been exchanging lately with the contact in his phone that was nothing but an emoji of a feather. He typed out a quick message before attaching the photo and sending it on it’s way.

Stephen gathered himself together quickly, buttoning his shirt again and checking swiftly in the mirror that nothing was showing through. He wasn’t sure what someone looked like when they were wearing lingerie under their clothes but he tried to make his whatever the opposite of that was. With a thought, he set off the old, roaring hand dryer so it would sound like he’d been doing something people were supposed to do in bathrooms. When dealing with Esther, there was no such thing as overcovering his tracks.

He navigated his way back through the obstacle course of office equipment and magical paraphernalia to where Esther was scowling at her computer screen and stabbing the keys as she typed.

“I swear, if we get one more sodding email about UFOs I’m going to throw this thing out of the window,” she declared, viciously deleting like each one had offended her personally.

“Y’know there are days I wish practitioners actually were secretly working for a cabal of interdimensional aliens,” Stephen hummed, sliding back into his chair, “We’d probably have more funding if we were.”

Esther gave a mirthless snort of laughter, the text on her screen reflecting in her glasses, not even glancing from it as she took a swig of coffee. A mug had appeared on his desk too, freshly steaming.

Stephen was about to thank her when his phone buzzed in his hand, making him jump. He scrambled to check it, feeling his heart thud when he saw it was from Lucien. Two messages, short and sharp and impossible not to read in his cool tones.

The handful of hours between those messages and half past ten had felt like an eternity. Enough that Stephen couldn’t hide his haste as he nearly sprinted from the Council Building to the Underground. He spent the long ride from the shabby borough the justiciary called home to Knightsbridge staring at his phone, rereading that message over and over again, his mind running away with all that so much trouble implied. He knew fine well he was going to arrive flushed, already half hard and salivating, ready to do whatever Lucien asked of him.

He wove his way through the evening crowds, stumbling into the bar they always came into. It was a sleek, expensive looking place, the kind of bar he’d never set foot in if he hadn’t been beckoned by Lucien. He felt every penny in his meagre paycheck when he walked through the door but he did like the warmth, the rich leather, the fact that nearly all of the other couples there were pairs of men too. He liked how Lucien would put his arm around him as they sat in their usual booth and he’d feel that flicker of belonging, in spite of everything else.

Stephen’s eyes, betraying his excitement more than anything else by being a sparking gold, tracked over the room until he spotted him. Lucien, having far more control over his working hours, often arrived well before Stephen and sat with his laptop or a book or a newspaper, a glass of whiskey at his elbow. But today the table before him was clear of distractions, he simply sat with his fingers steepled at his lips, his fine features set into an expression of patience. The kind of face a hunting cat would wear, knowing their prey would be along in due course.

And when his clear, grey eyes locked on Stephen, he simply smiled.

Swallowing hard, the younger man leapt to attention, clearing the bar and sliding into the booth with his lover.

“Evening,” he tried, casually, though his heart was hammering and his cock was aching.

“Just what did you think you were playing at, sweet boy?”

Lucien dispensed with the pleasantries, his voice already dropped into the low, rolling tones he used when Stephen was about to lose his clothes. He spoke softly so their conversation didn’t carry past the oak panelled confines of their booth but not enough that Stephen missed the heat in his tone. He tried to get a grip on himself, he had a feeling he’d need to walk across the room before too long.

“I thought you’d want to see,” he shivered as his tone slipped almost unconsciously into something playful, something teasing and faux innocent, an affectation that would have made a past version of himself gape in disbelief, “It looked so pretty and the note said you wanted me to wear it tonight…”

Lucien’s eyes flashed, “Did the note say to be a little prick tease and send filthy pictures to me while I was infuriatingly far away and couldn’t get my hands on you?”

Under the table, Stephen felt Lucien’s far longer, wiry muscled legs slide over his own. After waiting all day even that bare contact, through two layers of clothing, had him swallowing back a whimper.

"No...” Stephen dropped his chin, seeming to bow under the intensity until he let his eyes flicker up and catch Lucien’s, “My lord.”

He watched as the hard line of his lover’s jaw tightened. They’d been in this arrangement for a couple of months now and one thing Stephen had learned, amongst a host of new desires he’d never suspected he owned, was those words. Those words, referencing the titles that Lucien actually did own but denied in his everyday life, were essentially a crooked finger. They were Stephen essentially pinning a badge to himself that read ‘complete and unapologetic brat’, carte blanche for Lucien to master him however he saw fit. To break him, if required.

“Then you deserve everything you’re getting, don’t you?” Lucien shifted into something not unlike a lion winding back to pounce, “Because if you’re going to act like a slut, that’s exactly how I’m going to treat you.”

Stephen felt those words grip him by the nerve endings and he knew fine well he was fidgeting but didn’t know how to stop. He just looked at Lucien with mute, pleading surrender.

“I am going to get up and go into the men’s bathroom,’ Lucien gave the low command, “In five minutes, when you’ve got some kind of control over yourself, you’re going to join me. And I am going to show you what happens when you think you can make me wait. Colour?”

That last word was ever so slightly softer, offered rather than dictated. Lucien never failed to check in with Stephen whenever they were playing. It was in their agreement, of course, but Stephen had the strong sense this was just how the man would be with all his partners, for all his domineering tendencies.

Stephen swallowed and glanced around. There weren’t many people in at this late hour, this bar was more of a sophisticated runway for a night out and most of the crowds had moved to somewhere louder and more raucous. Just a few couples, like them, more wrapped up in each other than anyone else, not quite ready to let their dates end. He did some nervous mathematics on how likely they were to get caught, balancing the number of other customers with his ability to double lock the door with magic, dividing in the failsafe that he could always use a little bit of fluence in a real emergency…

Hopeless degenerate, Day, his brain sighed.

“Green,” he murmured and he couldn’t help the grin that flickered to life on his face, just for a moment.

Lucien clearly forgave the break in character, answering with one of his own before composing himself and smoothly rising, looking effortlessly in control as he loped casually towards the gent’s. Stephen stared at his arse the entire time without much remorse. He’d already made his bed, after all.

Charles: “Well, it’s the funniest thing, Douglas happened across this tank engine in Barrow...”

BR, who already has scrapyards dragging their feet on breaking up old steam engines and having rail enthusiasts buying them out of the scrapyards, and knowing that the NWR keeps. Fucking. Doing this: “Fine. Keep it. We don’t fucking care anymore. We don’t care that this engine is technically stolen, we won’t ask questions about how many of your employees or ours were complicit in this, all raising a fuss will accomplish is subjecting everyone to you for months and we know damn well that you’ll just buy him out of the scrapyard anyway. Take him for fifty pence. We are done with your shit.”

1972: Some guy at BR: “Sir, regarding the withdrawal of the Hymek diesels, I’ve been going over our records and it looks like the North Western Region has one.”

That Guy’s Boss: “Don’t you dare. Don’t you dare even think of bringing that top-hat-wearing son of a bitch down on my head! Don’t say anything to him.”

Like, the NWR was supposedly nationalized, and yet by the end of Modernization it ended up with more steam engines than it started with.

Difficulty With His Own

A thing I really enjoy in The Railway Series is that Sir Topham Hatt actually really gets a kick outta train bullshit. You know, when a train thinks they're gettin' one over on him or otherwise does something he doesn't expect.

The thing of it is, though, he can't let his engines know he finds their antics amusing because he doesn't want to encourage that behavior. So he ends up struggling to keep a straight face and having to hide that he's fuckin' guffawin' at the shit his engines are up to instead.

"Duck called me a 'galloping sausage'," spluttered Gordon.

"...'rusty red scrap-iron'," hissed James.

"...I'm 'old square wheels'," fumed Henry.

"Well Duck?"

Duck considered. "I only wish Sir," he said gravely, "that I'd thought of those names myself. If the dome fits..."

"Ha! Ahem!" The Fat Controller coughed.

He can't be seen to actually be laughing at this because it would hurt all the other guys' delicate train feefees and it would be taken as his siding with Duck. Which, even if he doesn't believe Duck did this, he has to at least consider the possibility that he did. And if it comes out that Duck did call them those names and Hatt laughed at them, they'd probably never get over it and it would undermine his authority for the next hundred years. But at this point in time, you would never expect Duck to drop a clapback like that. It's both surprising for its content and how out of character it is. When someone who's not typically known to be funny gets off a good one, the hilarity is multiplied, isn't it?

Then you got a pair of chucklefucks like Donald and Douglas.

"I hear you've lost your numbers," he said. "How did that happen?"

"They maun hae slyly slippit aff Sirr. Ye ken hoo it is." The engines spoke in chorus.

"I know. Accidentally on purpose."

The twins looked pained. "Sirr! Ye wadnae be thinkin' we lost them on purrpose?"

"I'm not so sure," said The Fat Controller. "Now then, which of you is 57646?"

"That, Sirr, is juist what we cannae mind."

The Fat Controller looked at their solemn faces. He turned away. He seemed to have difficulty with his own.

Sir Topham like "These goddamn trains think they're so fuckin' clever." And he loves it! He's into it! But, again, caint let them know that or this place'll be Chucklefuck Junction. And too, funny as this is, he's also now got bookkeepping, inventory, and possibly legal problems to contend with and that's no fun.

Remember when Douglas thought he was gonna get yelled at, so the twins swapped tenders so Hatt would think he was Donald and instead have to "find" him first?

He turned to the passengers. "Here, Gentlemen, are the facts. No. 10 has been shunting in the Yard. Your coach disappeared. We investigate. No. 10 - er - disappears too. You can draw your conclusions. Please accept my apologies. The matter will be investigated

The Fat Controller watched them till they climbed the station ramp. His shoulders twitched; he wiped his eyes. Douglas wondered if he was crying. He was not.

He swung round suddenly. "Douglas," he rapped, "why are you masquerading with Donald's tender?"

See, Hatt's probably really impressed by this one. This is a trick that none of his other engines have the circumstances, let alone the presence of mind, to attempt. It's incredibly clever for engines! And Hatt has to admit, it's his own damn fault they're pullin' this shit on him. He didn't think they were capable of this level of chicanery.

Luckily, he probably also finds it somewhat charming. "The Deputation" puts him in a position of not really being able to send one of them home either way since it comes out that it's essentially a death sentence. To send one home after being made aware of that would erode morale in the yard. It's why Hatt discourages "interference" even though he's probably actually glad he's been informed. But he was probably already considering keeping them both anyway because these guys are winning him over with their train bullshit.

I think my favorite example of train bullshit, though, is this.

Gordon and Thomas saw him coming, and both began to speak.

"Please, Sir -"

"One at a time," smiled The Fat Controller. "Yes Gordon?"

"May thomas have his Branch Line again?"

"Hm," said The Fat Controller, "well Thomas?"

"Please, Sir, can Gordon pull coaches now?"

The Fat Controller pondered.

You know what's he's ponderin' about? The time his own children - and probably his grandchildren too - also pulled this trick. The ol' "maybe if we advocate for each other instead of ourselves, he'll be so moved by our selflessness that he couldn't possibly stay mad." Little kid shit. And his giant fkn engines have come up with this plan too. Amazing.

Hm, indeed.

But. There is such a thing as Hatt Bullshit too. Doesn't happen that often but when it does...

Duck broke the awkward silence. "Beg pardon, Sir, but we do need another engine."

"I agree, Duck. That is why I am giving 7101 another chance." Their faces showed such dismay that The Fat Controller had difficulty with his own!

"Sir," ventured Gordon at last. "We had hoped for a real engine."

"They," said The Fat Controller gravely, "are rare, and unless one escapes, there's little hope..."

Just fuckin' with these guys, because he can! It's perhaps a little mean to fuck with them in regards to this particular topic since the circumstances are so dire but you know what? Everything's gonna work out fine, everyone's gonna be happy when he drops the other shoe. It's not often he gets the chance to pull a joke on these guys without it undermining his authority or hurting morale or showing favoritism or or or. Might as well take it!

Doing something outrageous graphically will make you stand out; creating something painfully minimalist will make you stand out, too. But “standoutability” is just one element of good logo design. There’s much more to consider before you get a designer working on your brand’s logo.

For a logo to function effectively it has to make a strong statement – and the right statement – the first thing you must do is figure out what you’re trying to say.

What Do You Want to Stand For?

Logos are symbols, and as such should tell people what you mean to them (or what you hope to mean to them – logos should be somewhat aspirational).

Understanding your meaning and value to customers and prospects will help you pinpoint what you stand for (or should stand for). If you’re not sure, ask yourself what makes your company better than competitors; better yet, ask your customers.

Depending on your product or service, your competitive advantage might be speed, authentic old-world craftsmanship, precision, attention to detail, reach, intelligence, variety, coolness, good health, power, innovation, elegance, efficiency or one of a thousand other characteristics. What you choose should be important to your prospects and customers, not exclusively to you. Having been in business for 57 years might be a point of pride for you, for example, but probably means very little to prospects looking for solution.

Apple’s logo reflects how the company thinks and how its products perform: simplicity, artistry, and user-friendliness.

Evernote, a popular notetaking app, uses an elephant with a dog-earred ear as its logo. The app is used to gather and remember lists, images, ideas, etc.

Once you’ve established the attributes that make your company valuable to customers and prospects, use them as communication goals for your logo.

Understand your audience

A logo should not only reflect the company for which it stands; it should reflect its target audience, too. If your audience is middle-aged male gun owners who take part in the annual deer hunting season, your logo should be designed to appeal to them, with elements that suggest things like ruggedness, nature/outdoors, camaraderie, strength, etc.

7 Principles of Kick-Ass Logo Design

Once you’ve taken the time to understand what you need your logo to “say” and to whom it should mean the most, you can start directing a designer. As you review the options presented to you, evaluate them with these 7 principles in mind:

1) Keep it Simple

The best logos – the ones that give the viewer an immediate and clear sense of “you” – are clean and uncluttered. In general, less is more and simplicity is more impactful. Like these:

2) Make it Memorable

A logo should be easily recalled after just a glance. A glance, after all, is typically all your logo is going to get from most people.

Like any symbol, it should stand for something singular, and it should be easily recalled if, after a person looks at it, he or she can immediately describe its basic elements (“It’s three interlocking circles” or “It’s a dog with a bone”). A logo that’s complex, fussy, has multiple parts and pieces or is overly stylized will be difficult for the viewer to “get” and, as a consequence, easily dismissed.

3) Make it Fresh

Don’t settle for a me-too logo. Do a quick search of logos in your industry and look for patterns and avoid mimicking them. Telecomm is filled with logos featuring globes, technology and electronics with logos that involve swooshes, and dentistry with logos of teeth or smiles (or both – see below).

These all make sense and communicate what the companies want them to, but if you do the same you lose all hope of getting noticed.

6) Make Sure all The Pieces Work Together

Your logo’s graphic device and your typeface work together (in what’s typically called a lockup) and enhance one another. Or they should. If your graphic device is clean and linear, don’t select a typeface that’s complex and playful (Fajita comes to mind). The two elements are really one, even if you determine times they can be used separately, and they must be complementary.

7) Make it Versatile

Your logo will be used in a number of ways and in multiple contexts. Here are just a few:

On t-shirts, baseball caps and, alas, fanny packs

On pens, keychains and water bottles

On very horizontal and extremely vertical banners

On both black and white backgrounds (make sure your designer creates your logo in black and in white to satisfy these needs if necessary)

Very large and very, very small

Alongside other company logos, like those for specific products and services

Your logo has to maintain its integrity and serve its purpose no matter what the use. A good designer will understand all this and create a logo that works in all situations. He or she will also take into consideration any other branding elements, like textures or patterns, that are part of your brand and create a logo that complements them.

So, how do you know if it “works”?

Here are two quick tricks that tell you if the logo design you’re considering fulfills the “make it memorable” and “keep it simple” principles:

Trick #1

Print your logo on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper (don’t fill up the page – make it about 1 inch high)

Hand that paper to people who haven’t seen the logo or been a part of conversations about the design project (in other words, pull a guy off the street)

Ask these people to look at the logo – for just 3 seconds!

Now ask each to describe it to you

If your logo’s intended meaning was immediately clear to them, you’re onto something!

Trick #2

Put your logo and 8 others on a piece of paper (arranged in 3 rows of 3); make sure they’re about the same size

Show this to as many people as will participate; let them view it briefly – no more than 30 seconds but at least 15

Take the paper away and ask viewers to recall and describe as many as they can – is yours among them?

This is a poor-man’s research that replicates (somewhat) what your customers and prospects go through every day: they have just seconds to consider a logo and it’s often at a time when other logos are competing for attention.

The Takeaway

For your logo to do what it’s expected to, you first must understand what your value and meaning is to your customers and best prospects. Then, by following design principles that are the foundation of some of the world’s best logos, you’ll have a symbol that stands for something. A logo can never represent everything a company is, offers or wants to be, but a good one will say something distinct that your target will naturally respond to.

The Decision itself was simply a matter of time, given that most of the population simply agrees with it,  

It is important to understand that this is not a shift from 0% to 100% but more from 98% to 100% -  There have been civil unions for years and over the years those civil unions have been made made closer and closer to equal in terms of civil & financial privileges. 

None of this is any excuse, of course, calling it something else is still invalidating & going to sting people who struggled with being mocked all their lives; The one major thing missing rights wise was the joint adoption specifically - You could totally adopt, you could do a stepchild adoption if your partner had a kid from a previous marriage or even a previous adoption (I think this was eventually justified with) but you couldn’t do an adoption where you’re both the legal parents right away. 

So then the real question would be, why did it take so long to do it all the way? Well, enter the bothersome intricacies of local politics. 

While Germany as a whole has been steadily moving toward social progress, some of it has been slow for a variety of reasons, including perhaps cultural ones & things being more inert & less dynamic in Europe. 

Another is impetus: The situation in the US was pretty bad with mounting polarization & extreme conservatives - if everythings not quite satisfactory but you could still technically create the life you want, there’s less of a strong drive to change. Though we have hardline conservatives here, too, and some of them have way to much power (a lot of the big industrialists are seated in the traditionally conservative Bavaria)  the situation isn’t nearly as extreme as in the US as we don’t have as many fire & brimstone preachers & religion is generally more moderate. 

Then, there’s the factor that for the past 10+ years, the reigning party has pretty much been the CDU. 

The CDU base consists of suburban moms who want benefits for big families, & wealthy conservative old men - and so they’re always sort of beholden to them especiallly with a new rightwing populist party on the blog - for over 70 years the shock from WWII has pretty much eradicated; “right wing” is considered an insult/ pretty much equivalent with “nazi” - no non-nazi but still strongly conservative party has really taken off though some have tried. 

(Comparably, my parents have consistently voted for them because after growing up in a communist country they won’t touch anything that’s “left”, even i it’s as watered down & mainstream friendly as the SPD or as different in origin as the green party. Though my father would probably vote for something like the US republican party if it existed here. )

The closest thing that exists is the centrist or perhaps sorta neoliberal CDU.  Sure they’re corporate, there’s been some bushesque security/ surveilance paranoia following terrorists attacks and I’m not voting for em in September but  they’re generally sane & do modernize when the people’s opinion does - and that’s how they stayed in power: The people want clean energy? Come on in clean energy. The people want to let the refugees in? Come on in refugees. Which can rightfully be seen as sort of self-interested but then again, changing your position instead of stubbonly insisting on it and also, they work for US: They’re our representatives - if they do what we want it means the system is working. 

Yeah that ‘C’ stands for ‘Christian’ but that’s one of the cases where theory & practive differ - They’ve put at least one muslim MP in the parliament & once formed a coalition put a protestant woman & a gay dude in the highest offices. 

Until the rightwing populist AfD showed up they were pretty much the most conservative party on the block but they’re not at all comparableto USA conservatives. (Not because the CDU is so great but because the republicans are so horrible... but that’s First-Past-The-Post for you. ) - But the thing is the CDU has taken some less conservative positions over the years (ie, let in the refugees), and the conservative voters had nowhere else to got except some tiny parties that had zero influence & far too many far-right asshats in them. Now there’s the AfD... that IS far-rights asshats but markes themselves better than the average ones/ try hard to convince stupid people that they aren’t. 

Now come the 2017 election - Last time, smaller parties made big gains in both federal & local elections but now with the Trump situation and frequent terror attacks everyone is worried and afraid, & the polls so far show a huge preference for the big parties, even more so  now that the AFD is loosing its steam in the polls. 

The SPD took that to mean that they could win, but thing is they haven’t mounted a decent candidate in years, ever since... Merkel’s predecessor, actually. There’s lots of good & bad to say about him but damn he was brave. Similarly, whatever you think about Merkel’s party, she’s a level-headed person with nerves of steel, far less actionistic than the average politician. Not the worst person to have in charge while you sit out the trump debacle.

 I daresay a lot people like merkel more than they like Merkel’s party...whereas the SPD may have the better programs in some respects but they’re too damn wishy-washie, don’t differenntiate themselves enough (eg. playing ball on corporate issues like trade deals & arms deals)  and the same is true for the no-name, no-carisma toads they keep putting up. The current leader, Gabriel, is an unpopular toad n one likes, the beloved competent people such as Steinmeier don’t want to be chancellor, so they keep pulling these unknown dudes out of nowhere & expect them to beat Merkel. 

The current one, Schultz is better than most in that h’s experienced in international politics which is what we need now but apart from some initial hype, he didn’t really do much - The CDU won several local elections as if nothing happened, poll numbers slipped back to status quo, basically he realized he wasn’t gonna win...

Once an aspect involving inner planets has happened, it’s over.  Separating aspects are good to know for context, but in terms of energy that is with us today, applying aspects are most important. (This is the case for daily astrology influences involving inner planets, which pass quickly, and not natal astrology aspects, which are with us for a lifetime).
