last cap comparison but this panel is always so good to me because a) dark's absolutely evil anime villain face b) daisuke's dialogue talking about how dark's always there for him to completely offset that and c) dark's grip

Tumblr media
It had come to Iudex Neuvillette's attention that there is still much he needs to learn about the enigma that are humans. Following his recent revelations as to his role in Fontaine and relationship with its citizens, he thought it'd be nice if he gets to know them better.
It hadn't escaped his knowledge that sometimes, things would fly over his head. Things said in jest, he ends up taking seriously before realizing at a later time that it was in good humor.
Sometimes, he doesn't realize that his silence had ended up causing the other party feel awkward, and even then, he doesn't know what to do or talk about when they do.
And so, he started by studying the little things. Their expressions, their body language—It had first came up in a conversation with the head nurse of the Fortress of Meropide, Sigewinne.
During one of her rare vacations where she visits the overworld and checks on the Chief Justice in worry that he may be overworking himself again.
Sigewinne talks about the things she has learned from observing the expressions from the workers in the Fortress, and with her observant gaze, she notices just how interested the Chief Justice seems even if from an outsider's point of view, he just looks like he's sporting the same, neutral expression.
At that, Sigewinne brought it upon herself to share the things that she has learned, but he can see the slight furrow on Neuvillette's brow, his fingers on his chin, deep in thought as he tries to picture out the expressions that she's describing.
Thinking to herself, the head nurse thinks of someone that she can describe well enough but also someone that Neuvillette knows fairly well to help him picture out what she's saying—and one person easily comes to mind.
"Take His Grace, for example." Sigewinne mentions, and the Iudex looks up with his eyes widening the slightest bit.
"Wriothesley?" He echoes.
"Yeah!" The melusine chirps happily, smiling widely at Neuvillette.
"If you show him that one human you always send from the Gardes, you can notice a few things from his body language that you wouldn't notice if you're not looking closely."
Which leads to the mentioned Duke now sitting in Neuvillette's office in Palais Mermonia, a tea cup in hand. After all, if Neuvillette were to learn, it'd be better if he sees it for himself, no?
Wriothesley was in the middle of his sentence when a knock reverberates in the room, coming from the door to the entrance to the office. Still holding onto his teacup, the Duke glances at the door, before looking back at the man before him, not surprised by the knock at the very least, as if he had been expecting it.
"Monsieur," Wriothesley spoke in his usual polite tone towards the Chief Justice, "Are we expecting someone else?"
His icy gaze are calculating as they meet Neuvillette's gaze, the Iudex shaking his head, sighing as he looks back to meet the man's calculating gaze.
"Pardon me, it's just some business. It'll be quick." Neuvillette apologizes politely, to which Wriothesley nods and shrugs, taking a sip from his tea cup. Taking that as his 'go ahead' signal, the judge turns his head to his office door and spoke.
"Please, come in."
Neuvillette was quick to glance at Wriothesley from the corner of his eyes as the door opens. And as you came into view, he notices the way the Duke's eyes widened slightly in surprise, quietly choking on his tea but managing to gather himself again in a split second.
"Chief Justice." You spoke in a formal, polite tone, eyes glued to the man who nods in return, before you eventually noticed the other person in the room.
Again, Neuvillette observes Wriothesley.
"Your Grace," You also greet the Chief Justice's guest politely.
True to Sigewinne's words, The Lord Incognito sat with his back a little straighter, his chest puffing out as he oh so gently puts his tea cup down on its saucer, his voice laced with a tad bit of warmth as he spoke your name in greeting.
"Is it a bad time?" You asked, eyes glancing over the tea cups laid on the table between the two men, "I'm sorry for interrupting your meeting."
But before Neuvillette could reassure you that you weren't at fault, and that it was all his for having called for you, Wriothesley was quick to respond.
"Nonsense," Wriothesley didn't even hesitate to reassure you that he doesn't mind, a small genuine smile gracing his lips. "We're just sharing some words over tea, would you like a cup?"
"Thank you, Your Grace. But I couldn't possibly." You respond as you take steps closer, closing the door behind you as you fully enter the office.
"I insist." Wriothesley hums, already reaching out for a third tea cup that has been conveniently brought out by Neuvillette despite the fact that there were only two of them.
You raise your hand, about to protest but was cut off by the Chief Justice, your boss himself.
"You're no strangers to each other, please do share a cup," Neuvillette spoke as he looked at you with a nod before standing up from his seat. "Excuse me while I look for the file that our latest convict needs—I seem to have mixed it with other files."
An obvious lie. The Chief Justice is a neat person, everything has a place and everything is in their rightful place, but neither of them questioned it as Neuvillette offers his seat to you before moving over towards his desk where the paperworks to process the latest criminal lay.
He took this opportunity to study the scene before him, as he pretends to shuffle papers here and there.
Diluted pupils. Eye contact. Mirroring your actions. A smile never leaving his face. Leaning on the table. And.... uh huh. That's the third time Wriothesley tried to fix his hair in the past five minutes.
Neuvillette blinks as he observes the way the Duke handles himself around your presence, and he is sure that if Wriothesley had a tail, it'd be wagging happily right about now.
Eventually, the Iudex returned to rejoin your small party. A small smile was plastered on both your and the Duke's faces as you engaged in your own little world, both pairs of eyes landing on him as he penetrated your little bubble.
"I've found it," He spoke in his usual neutral tone, and you gave him a nod.
The ever gentleman that he is, Neuvillette thought nothing of it as his hands moved with sophisticated grace, pulling your chair out for you and offering you his hand to help you stand. He was just being polite. And being used to his actions, you didn't hesitate to take his hand as you stood. But...
Ah.
Neuvillete can't help but notice Wriothesley's gaze fixated on your hand in his grasp, the smile on his face gone, just his pale, icy gaze staring a hole into the Chief Justice's fingers around your hand.
Tense. On guard. Almost reminiscent of a guard dog meeting a stranger and gauging whether they are a threat or not.
Interesting.
The man let go of your hand to give you the paperwork you had come for, giving you another nod, your gazes now locked with each other's.
"Here you go,"
"Thank you, Monseiur."
You receive the files, opening your mouth to bid your farewell to both men in the room when the sound of the chair sliding against the floor sounded, and both your attention snapped towards Wriothesley who was letting out a loud sigh.
"Ah, would you look at the time?" Wriothesley suddenly announces loudly, as if making sure both of their attentions are on him. "It's getting late."
Neuvillette's head subtly tilts to the side in curiosity at Wriothesley's sudden actions. Trying to figure out what has the man so tense, quietly thinking to himself.
Is this what they call envy? No, envy isn't precisely the correct term...
Ah. Jealousy. That's the term.
"I should get going. Thank you for this afternoon, Monsieur Neuvillette." The Duke spoke, approaching the both of you, snapping the said man out of his thoughts, who turned to face him.
"The pleasure was all mine. I'm grateful for your time as well," The Chief Justice responds,
"I'll be on my way as well," You spoke your farewells to your boss, and Neuvillette watched as Wriothesley turned to face you this time, speaking your name in a soft tone.
"You'll be escorting an inmate to the Fortress, no?" Wriothesley spoke with a slight hint of amusement in his voice, his eyes on you as you nodded to confirm his questions.
"I am, but I'd have to pick them up first." You respond as you turn to walk towards the exit, Wriothesley hot on your heels like a puppy happily following its owner
"I'll go with you, then."
"That might not be a good idea, Your Grace. They might get intimidated."
"Well, they'll just have to deal with it, won't they? They'll be seeing more of me in Fortress of Meropide; they should get used to it."
Neuvillette watched your exchange, the Duke opening the door for you, closing it behind him, and your voices became muffled. The Hydro Sovereign stands in place, placing a hand on his chin as he thinks.
"And what kind of emotion does Wriothesley portray when around them?" Neuvillette had asked Sigewinne after she happily detailed every minuscule movement that Wriothesley does consciously and unconsciously in your presence.
"That is what humans refer to as romantic love." Sigewinne beams up happily at him, and he nods, making sure to make an internal note of that.
"So that was love." Neuvillette nods to himself, eyes still glued to the door where you and Wriothesley exited. Funnily enough, Wriothesley wasn't the only one he ended up observing.
From his observations, he can quickly tell that you had the same body language as the Duke throughout your entire conversation, a stark contrast to your more rigid and mechanical body language when speaking to him.
That day, oh so casually, the Chief Justice confirmed and gave his judgment on both of you based on the observed facts.
"They're in love with each other." Neuvillette concluded.
"And neither of them know."

FEATURING: AITO SOUSUKE (OC), DAISUKE YUICHI (OC) x male reader
Tumblr media
After a particularly frustrating match, (m/n) sat on the bench, his head low and eyes furiously glaring at gym floor. Sousuke staring from a distance, his eyes wandered to his teammates before stepping over to his captain.
(m/n) was still fixated in his thoughts, emotions swirling behind those blank (e/c) and he was pulled back into reality seeing a pair of neon red gym shoes coming into his peripheral vision.
"…do you need something, Sousuke?"
"…"
Sousuke didnt say anything, his own hazel eyes still lingering on the mop of (h/c), more than a second before his hand reached out to lay on (m/n)'s head.
The (h/c)'s breath paused before he tried to look up but Sousuke's rigid hand pushed down, countering his movement. "It's okay." Sousuke whispered. "…you don't…" The ace tried saying something. Something comforting.
But Aito Sousuke was never good at words. He could only act. And he was frustrated at himself because right now maybe (m/n) needed words to soothe his storming thoughts. Daisuke was better at him than this. But he didn't care about Daisuke right now. He cared about (m/n).
(m/n) didnt say anything, opting to stare at the neon red that reflected off of the gym lights. His lips pressed into a tight line and a pathetic whimper escaped his throat.
His hands went to grip his own face, a brew of frustration came out from his chest in the form of angry tears as it slipped down on his lower lashes. "Fuck…" (m/n) cursed, not expecting his composure to crack.
Sousuke hands moved to rub (m/n)'s head, playing with his hair in an attempt to soothe the (h/c) as he moved closer to the captain, standing straight in front of the sitting former. "I…I'm sorry." He knew the (h/c) was embarassed to cry in front of people, always hiding away his feelings to his own, pummelling it all in his stomach like the world was disgused to see him cry. To see him feel like a normal human being.
Sousuke wouldn't. He would accept all the good and bad (m/n) had to offer. He thought his captain was beautiful in every way.
(m/n)'s hand went to grip the ace's jersey, his hand trembling as he leaned his head on Sousuke's torso, frustratingly wiping away more of his tears as more streaked down his (s/c) cheeks.
Sousuke's hand hesitated, but went forward anyways, rubbing the (h/c)'s back with minimal pressure. In an instant, (m/n) hugged the redhead with both of his hands, sobbing into the ace's jersey, wetting it more with his tears and sweat.
At this point, they had garnered looks. One of the juniors, Nakamura Jurou, staring at his captain with a pained expression. "(m/n)-san…" Sousuke didn't look back, caring and focusing on his beloved captain.
Haru stared at the two. His eyes wide as his lips trembled. He always knew there was something wrong. Something (m/n) wouldn't tell. They were such a close pair but (m/n) would shy away no matter how much he prodded.
Daisuke, the vice captain, stepped into the gym, his eyes fixated on the clipboard he went to retrieve. "(m/n)-!" He was about to call out for his captain but Haru stopped him. His own blue eyes gazed at Haru confused before he looked to where the middle blocker was looking.
A word didn't escape his lips. His eyes taking in the sight of his crush weeping in the arms of Sousuke, someone he hated but tolerated. He didn't hesitate to step forward, towards the pair as he kneeled beside the (h/c). Haru followed suit, his anxiousness escaping him as he offered a hand of comfort to his closest friends.
The juniors trickled in, asking questions of concern as they all attempted to soothe their beloved captain. The (h/c) only muttering apologies and hiccups while still harshly wiping away his tears.
Daisuke stopped his hand as he gently swiped his thumb on his puffy cheek. "We're here for you, (m/n)." The vice captain peered, in an attempt to look at his beloved's face and was met with bloodshot eyes with furrowing eyebrows. (m/n) only nodded as he pulled away from Sousuke's body as he groaned before he was bombarded by his teammates who was worried for their beloved captain, including Haru.
The ravenette turned his head to Sousuke, glaring at him. The latter locked eyes with a nonchalant stare. (m/n) who was still being comforted by his first years, rolled his eyes seeing the pair, wiping his wet cheeks.
[END SCENE]

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
This is the fourth volume of the Lost Eden drama CDs! I'll make separate posts for each track and update the links above as I go. I absolutely loved this first one—especially the narration by Ruki at the start of the track (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄) It was a blast to translate, so I wish you happy listening and reading along!
Please do not reuse or post my translations elsewhere or translate my work into other languages without my permission.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
00:00 Ruki: Banmaden—the Founders’ castle in the Demon World. A single woman was left behind there—Eve—who holds the most exceptional and highly sought-after blood in all of the Demon World. By orders of the First Bloods, she is waiting devotedly for someone to come and get her. Oh, she is forlorn. Hopelessly so. The biting cold of the stone castle will soon freeze over not only her body, but also her spirit. She waits and waits, endlessly, so long a time that it feels like forever. One day, out of the blue, the sounds of countless flapping wings reach her ears. Right away, she understands that her salvation is near. The flapping wings persuade her to follow them, and so she leaves the stone castle behind and follows the sounds deep into the Demon World forest. With nobody else to depend on, she lets the wings aid her on her quest to find her saviour.
01:31  Ruki: I had steeled myself for this, but when I took in the scenery with my own eyes, it still hit home. The ever-blooming flowers of Eden wilted, having lost their master and the nourishment he supplied them with. Eden’s rich waters were close to drying up. The water that had glistened with life before, sparkling like sand crystals when you cupped it with your hands, was dead. Filthy. I remembered once again, in vivid detail, that His powers had given life to this castle. Karl Heinz—the man I considered my father, the man I revered—is no longer in this world. And now we are losing Eden, too.
02:25 Azusa: I feel a… tightness in my chest… Because of him, everything is changing… Yes… That day, we were called to Eden… We thought this was the place… that was considered paradise (1). It was the place where the seven-coloured birds would sing… Where the golden butterflies fluttered about… The place whose sweet, pleasant scent… calmed us… This place… will be gone soon… This place has been reduced to nothing…
03:52 Kou: I felt myself becoming hopeless. I probably wasn’t the only one. Because this place was our home. A place we could always return to. The place where He was always waiting for us. The man who showed us both kindness and a certain cold-hearted severity. Eden was a place we cherished unlike anything else. It was irreplaceable. But now, it looked nothing like we remembered it. It was said to be a sanctuary for the immortal, but…
04:40 Yuma: I used to think ‘home’ wasn’t a physical place, but I was reminded once again that it was quite nice to have a physical place to come home to. No matter where I looked, I saw nothing but death and decay. It made His death feel all the more real. For the first time, I realised that Eden was more important to me than I had ever thought.
05:16 Ruki: Eden has been reduced to rubble.
Kou: Stop it. Don’t say stuff like that.
Ruki: It’s the truth, isn’t it?
Yuma: It is, but you could’ve said it another way.
Ruki: Yeah.
Azusa: Ruki, doesn’t it make you sad?
Ruki: How so?
Kou: What do you mean, ‘how so’? This place was like home to us. A place where we made memories. How could you flat-out say it’s as good as ruined?
Azusa: Yeah.
Ruki: Let me turn that question around. Do you truly think this does not affect me in any way?
Kou: Of course not.
Ruki: Then you are correct. Of course I think it’s very unfortunate. Other than that, all I feel is resentment. How did it come to this? Eden must have a master. Why did He abandon his duty?
[Ruki punches a wall.]
Kou: Ruki…
Azusa: I’m sorry, Ruki… I never realised…
Yuma: We were a bit thoughtless…
Ruki: No, it’s alright. Either way, wallowing in sadness and anger will not improve this situation. We must do whatever we…
[A bat flies towards them.]
06:52 Kou: Huh? Is that a bat? It might be someone’s familiar.
Ruki: Be careful.  They might be the same species as we are, but do not let your guard down.
Azusa: It looks like it’s… holding a letter.
Yuma: Ah. I’ll take it, then. There we go.
[Yuma takes the letter from the familiar. The familiar takes off again.]
Yuma: Here.
Ruki: Thanks.
[Ruki takes the letter from Yuma.]
Ruki: Oh—this is…
Kou: Who’s it from?
Ruki: This is the Tsukinami family seal.
Azusa: It’s from… Carla?
Ruki: What on Earth could he want?
[Ruki opens the letter.]
Ruki: Ah…
Yuma: A letter from that Tsukinami bastard? That’s a surprise.
Kou: Yeah. It’s someone you would least expect a letter from.
Azusa: Ruki… What does it say?
Ruki: Hey, you three. You have to go to Banmaden. Now.
Yuma: What? Banmaden? The fuck’s goin’ on there?
Ruki: That woman—Eve—is waiting for us.
Kou: What’s Kitten doing in Banmaden?
Ruki: I don’t know the details. Hurry. You have to go and get her right away.
Azusa: Yes… If she’s all by herself… she must be very lonely…
Yuma: I don’t know what the hell’s goin’ on, but… It can’t be helped. Let’s go.
Ruki: I’m counting on you. I will send out a familiar ahead of you to announce your arrival.
Kou: Alright!
Azusa: Wait here.
[The three brothers walk off.]
08:49 [Kou, Yuma and Azusa are flying to Banmaden. The translator is a little confused as to why they added airplane noises but thinks it’s funny to imagine that vampires sound like airplanes when they fly/levitate.]
Azusa: Still… It’s a little surprising, isn’t it?
Yuma: You mean that Tsukinami asshole?
Azusa: Yeah.
Kou: Why would that arrogant Carla want to leave Kitten in our care? Something must be wrong.
Yuma: Like what?
Kou: I’m not sure… I think it must have been an emergency. He probably had no other choice.
Azusa: I hope Eve… is alright, though…
Yuma: Ugh. Of course she is! Otherwise the guy wouldn’t have asked us to come get her, right?
Kou: Hmm…
Azusa: Oh—that’s Eve!
Yuma: See! I told you. Y’all are worrywarts.
[Yuma dives towards Yui ahead of his brothers.]
Azusa: Yuma…! That’s not fair…
Kou: He’s calling us worrywarts, but he was clearly the most worried out of all of us.
Yuma: Huh? D’ya say something?
Kou: Nothing at all!
[Kou and Azusa follow Yuma.]

Shot out to that one follower whom wanted the CD drama in which all dl boys appear with yui. You my dear motivated me (A big thanks to @crazyasffr ). Give reviews because I like reading your reaction 😤!
Yui was awoken by the sound of a lot of voices. She tried to open her eyes but couldn't open it,She tried to move her body but couldn't. She started getting scared as she noticed her situation. Then she felt as if she was being kissed she felt disgusted. She heard thoes voices again they were males she could tell by their tone and they were arguing. Again she felt as if she is being kissed and her disgust was increasing.
??: Is she not going to wake up?
???: The propherecy said that if you kiss the sleeping Eve she will wake up? But she isn't waking up?!!
????: Maybe because you are a bad kisser. Let Ore-sama try!
?????: Fufu, how about all of us take turn in trying.
????: You all are disgusting. If you all are going to kiss her then I won't kiss her it makes me vomit to think I will kiss someone who is already defiled by you all.
?????: Then don't kiss her it's not like we want you to do that besides you doing that isn't necessary.
*Thud*
????: You perverts don't touch her you aren't allowed to!! Only Nii-san has the right to do it!!
???: You bas-
Yui then felt as if her energy was returning she opened her eyes and saw a young boy whoes face was dangerously cloes to her. The guy upon noticing her awake smiled at her.
?????: Ohh!! So you are awake you have really cute eyes!
_Yui immediately pushed that guy off her and got up.
Yui: Have you no shame you were kissing a sleeping women!??
Kino: Excuse me I didn't even got the chance to kiss. The one who assaulted you are them.
_He said as he pointed at Reiji and Ruki.
_Yui looked at around to see a lot of men who are now looking at her. She scanned all of them.
Ruki: Quick grab her!!
Yui: Wha No-o don't c-ome near me leave me-e!!
Ruki: Look we won't hurt you we just want you to come with us.
Yui: I d-don't want to go anywhere! please just let me go!
_Yui looked at them with fear in her eyes as she was feeling overwhelmed with a lot of men around her.
Reiji: Shu!! Hurry grab her!!
Shu: How annoying. Do it yourself.
_Yui got startled as she heard a voice right besides her she noticed a guy on floor. She didn't realized he was this cloes to her she hurridly moved away.
Shu: Pink.
Yui: Huh?
Shu: Colour.
Reiji: Colour of what?
Shu: Of your underwear.
Yui: ............
_Yui flushed at his remark and scooted away from him while shu gave her a lazy smirk.
Ruki:You!! How dare you!!
_Ruki said as he took his sword out seeing this everyone took their sword out yui immediately flinched at it.
*Cling* *Cling*
Yui: Wha-ts happening here?! Why are you doing this?! Who exactly are you all??!
Kino: Eve don't worry we won't hurt you after all you are our princess!
_Kino gives her princely smile and moved towards her but was blocked by Shin who moved infront of him.
Shin: Not so fast!! I won't let you touch her.
_Shin drew his sword he looked at his shoulder to look at yui.
Shin: Don't worry Eve I will save you from them and get you out of here!!
Yui: Is it real?
Shin: Huh?
_Kino and Shin both looked at yui confusingly.
Yui: The sword?
Shin: Of course it is!?? What are you thinking?
Yui: What? But why?!
Shin : Why what?!
Kino: Look stop all of you I am confused here?! What are you trying to say princess??
Yui: You are confused but, I should be confused who exactly are you?! All I thought you all were cosplayer?
Kino: Cosplayer?!?
Shin: Why would you think that?!
Yui: Well... you all are calling me Eve and acting like a knight and your dress is weird too you all are dressed weirdly!
Kino: Excuse me!? I have the best sense of fashion among all of them also don't call our dressing weird rather you are acting strange!
Reiji: Eve you do know what purpose you have.
Yui: What?
_Yui looked at him confusingly. She then looked around.
Yui: Also where is the priest?
_Now all of them looked at her.
Reiji: Pardon. What priest?
Yui: Well this is church so there must be a priest! Where is he?
Yuma: Eve you do realize that we are the only ones here!
Yui: Eh?
Yuma: Don't tell me that Eve is mentally unstable?!
Ayato: What but isn't she Eve??!
Kino: Isn't Eve is supposed make a ruler? Why is she talking weirdly?!
Shin: Come on she isn't unstable like you can clearly tell the difference between her and Kanato.
Kanato: Exactly---What did you say???!!!
_He gave a murderous look to Shin.
_Yui than felt someone circling her waist she looked at her shoulder to see a red haired guy.
Ayato: Oii!! No one will touch her!! She is now my property!!
Kanato: Hah when did she become yours Ayato???! Teddy waited so long for her to wake up!! I DEMAND YOU GIVE HER TO ME!!
_All of then covered their ears because of his screeching.
Yuma: You brat!! Shut up!! You aren't alone here!! All of us waited here for sow to wake up!! You ain't special go and play with your toys.
_Kino, Shin and Ayato snickered. Kanato seeing this walked up to Yuma.
Kanato: What did you say to me?
He said as he grabbed his collar. But their difference in height made the audience except Yui chuckle. Which further increased Kanato anger.
Kanato: YOU!!!!
_Yuma flinched at his sudden outburst.
Kanato: IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!
Yuma: What?? But you were the compla-
Kanato: YOU MADE A JOKE OF ME!!
Yuma: I didn't you yourself made-
Kanato: SHUT UP!! I WILL KILL YOU HOW DARE YOU MAKE FUN OF MY HEIGHT!!
Yuma: When did I made fun--
Kanato: SHUT UP!! SHUT UP YOU RUINED TEDDY'S MOOD! I WON'T FORGIVE YOU!!
Yuma: I never asked for your forgiveness-
_Yui took advantage of the distraction and elbowed him. Ayato who was caught off guard let her go and Yui escaped. Yui immediately ran for the door.
Ruki: Eve is escaping Shin go after her!!
Reiji: Yuma this isn't time to play around. Be quick Kino catch Eve. Shu you too!!
Kino: Roger!!
_All of them then became alert and started running after her.
_Yui who was running with all her might started screaming hoping the people will hear her and help her. She hurridly entered a room and locked it's door she decided to put furniture infront of it so it could remain locked just as she turned around she saw all of them.
Yui: AHHHHH!!
Shin: Ouch! Stop screaming!
Yui: HOW DID YOU GET IN HERE?!!
_As she lifted vase.
Ayato: Well we are- Put that thing down!!
Yui: I won't don't come closer you weirdos!!
Yuma: Eve listen we won't hurt you we are here to save you just come here!
Yui: Don't come closer!!
Ruki: Huh! As if she thing like that can stop us!!
_Yui threw the vase towards Shu as for some unknown reason he was lying closer to her but Shu dodged it.
Shu: How dare you!
_Yui noticed a balcony in room and sprinted toward it seeing it all of them followed her but stopped as soon as they say her climbing the railing she was able to balance herself on it she looked towards them.
Yui: Look don't come closer otherwise I will jump from here and you will be sentenced to death!
Kanato: Eh? Death sentence what are you saying?
Yui: Tell me who are you all and why are you doing this to me?!
Kino: Doing this to you?! Excuse me we haven't even started doing anything to you!!
Yui: Liste--kyahhh.....
_Yui was, lifted from the railing into air.
Kou: Hyahhhhh!!! M-Neko-chan Kou has came to your rescue Fufu.
_Yui realized that she is hugged by strange blonde hair guy the guy then placed his head on her shoulder glancing at the crowd.
Laito: Nfu~
Yui: Kyahhh...
_She felt another pairs of hands hugging her.
Laito: Nfu~ Eve-chan~~ you made your suitors wait a lot for you this isn't fair we spend a lot of time without you. Now need to make it up to your Laito-kun!
Kou: Wait a minute!! Laito-kun I am talking to M-Neko-chan you should let us talk alone and leave her I can carry her alone.
*BANG*
_The door exploded and three men entered the room.
Carla: How dare you all come here before us!!
Ruki: Well excuse you, don't tell me you expect us to inform you that barrier is broken. Isn't it your fault that your comrades are foolish.
Subaru: Tch!! It's not like you already took her she is still here and besides we aren't late.
_Subaru cracked his knuckle and looked at all of them before his eyes went to the girl. He immediately blushed as he saw her being gropped by two men.
_Yui who was now confused and scared as she noticed their strength. They are way too strong to take a door down but thinking about what they are wasn't her concern her main concern was to get away from them.
_Carla looked at Yui for some reason Yui felt a lot of scared his presence was dominating and she wanted to hide. He continue to peirce her with his gaze and walked towards Yui. This guy is very intimidating for her.
Yui: Let me go!!
_She said as she started swaying her legs.
Kou: EV-wait stop we will-
Laito: Eve-channn this not a place to get excited, I know you are excited to see Laito-kun but wai--
Yui: Kyaah!!!
"EVE!!"
_Yui was falling she closed her eyes to accept her fate only to feel someone below her.
Yui: Owe!
Shu: You are in no position to say anything like that considering you fell on me!
_Yui got up from floor and saw Shu beneath her.
Yui: Why are you always on floor?!
Shu: ..............
Yui: Aren't you going to answer?!
Shu: Uwa! Troublesome.
_As he got up Yui for the fist time Yui saw their differences in height, as it's the fist time he got up since their meeting and Yui was startled as she saw him trying to grab her.
_Yui immediately bolted towards dark forest.
Meanwhile:
Laito: Uwahhh Eve died I can't believe I didn't get to play with her.
Subaru: Idiot she isn't dead.
Ruki: We really need to find her quickly.
_Carla raised his eyebrows at him as they all were creating too much fuss.
Reiji: Can't you sense her presence?!
Subaru: Tch! What's wrong with you all she is just around here we will find her and that's it!?
Shin: Looks like you don't understand the severity of the situation.
Ayato: You see Eve has slept for too long that's why she is now unstable.
Kou: What? M-Neko-chan no way I don't believe you she is perfectly stable.
Shin: You see she acts weirdly and ask stupid question I am not saying she is fully unstable like Kana-
Kanato: WHAT DID YOU SAY!!?
_Kanato walked up to Yuma and grabbed him by collar.
Yuma: Oi-i!! What did I do?! Why are you coming at me!!?
Kanato: IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!
Yuma: What type of logic it is-
Kanato : YOU MAKE ME BAD INFRONT OF EVERYONE YOU ALWAYS DO THAT! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT PEOPLE THINK I AM LIKE THAT!!
Yuma: It's literally our first meet--
Kanato: SHUT UP I WON'T LISTEN TO YOU ANYMORE!!
Yuma: When were you listen--
_The two continued to argue.
Laito: Eve. Poor Eve-chan she must be scared while walking alone in this scary forest.
Carla: If whatever you said is true that Eve truly is out of her mind then we need to hurry and find her before she does harm upon herself because of state.
Reiji: Hurry!! After her she must be in forest we need to find her before she hurt herself!!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Yui: Hahhh!! Hurry I need to find someone!! Ngh.
_She fell on her butt after she collided with someone. She looked up to see a guy who was covered in bandages.
Azusa: Eve.
_The unknown guy immediately hugs her. She then started pushing him but he didn't nudge.
Yui: Leave me-e!
Azusa: I waited so long for you to come Eve I am so happy to meet you!!
_Yui looked at him confusingly. Are all guys here have their screws loose.
_She then heard footsteps behind her.
Laito: Nfu~ Ara, Ara Eve-chan you are finally united with your number 1 fan.
Yui: Numbe-er one fan?
Laito: Yes!! Azusa-kun seems to have special attachment to you, you see.
Shin: Hahh!! I finally found you Eve-
Yuma: Eve found yaaa. Ya made everyone so worried about you!!
Kino: Eve here you are!
_All of then looked at each other it appeared as if now they are ready to fight and not so soon the fight began Shin who remained it shadows saw the opportunity and grabbed yui.
Yui: Hel---
_Her voice was muffled by shin hand he hurridly took her away from scene.
Yui: Stop!! Leave me ugh!! Please stop!!!
Shin: Kch!! Shut up and come with me to orange house.
_He roughly grabbed her and started dragging her.
Yui: Please don't sell me-
Shin: Sell you??
_Shin now stopped and look at her confusingly.
Yui: Isn't it what you want?
_Yui thought they all might be drug dealers and are trying to sell her to brothel that's the reason they are so careful with her.
(They all are doing this so that my body remains unharmed and I could be sold at higher price otherwise why were they so concerned when I was falling from railing!)
_Shin confusing expression changes to pity and sad.
(She really is mentally unstable that's why she is saying weird things I shouldn't put more pressure on her fragile state.)
_Yui upon noticing Shin sad eyes and his silence as an agreement to her statement and her tears started welling up in her eyes.
Subaru: Ev-- Hah Shin why is she crying?
_Subaru immediately separated the two and grabbed Yui. Yui again resisted to get away from him.
Yui: How can you do this don't you have a sister will you do something so terrible to her!!??
_Yui questioned subaru.
Subaru: Huh? But I don't have any sister?!
Yui: That- but still you should have some humanity in yourself to do something this disgusting!!
Subaru: Humanity? I am not a human to begin with!!
Yui: That's right you are monster!!!
_Subaru became confused at her outburst he wondered what he did that made her like that?! He didn't deserve to be called a monster, considering it's their fist meeting.
Subaru: Look I just want to take you home to my older brother-
Yui: Huh!! You__ I can't believe you are going give me to your brother as call girl!!?
Subaru: Wha--
_Subaru looked at Shin who still had sad expression on his face. He looked at Shin and Shin upon noticing him made a gesture of saying that she is unstable and shook his head.
_Subaru looking at him realized how bad Eve's condition is became sad as he thinks that his behaviour might upset her more. He looked sorrowfully at yui.
_Yui than notices change in demnor thought that this might be his purpose.
Yui: Please leave me alone!! Let me go!
Kou: Ahh! Found them!! GUYS EVE IS HERE!!
_All the family immediately teleported to the place.
Yuma: Hahh!! Finally!!
Yui: Look please stop all this. Leave me alone don't sell me.
Ayato: Sell you but why would we? I mean you are important for the plan after all you are Eve? Why would we sell you?
Yui: But why me why me out of all the girls in the world why does it have to be me??!!
Laito: 'Girls' there are girls here?
Ruki: Eve you are the only women here along with us!
Yui: Wait a minute!? Aren't you going to sell me to some brothel??
Ayato: First you called Ore-sama cosplayer and now you are calling me a dealer make up your mind cosplayer or dealer!!
Shin: Huh why would we? What do you think we are! Besides there is no brothel here!
Yui: If there isn't then why all of you are chasing me! And why are you saying I shouldn't be harmed!!?
Ruki: Ahh! Things are now getting clearer.
Kino: Yeah!! Right seriously I can't believe it was all for this.
Reiji: It seems Eve has misunderstood our intentions.
Shin: This means that she isn't crazy like Kana-
Yuma: SHUT UP!! Shut your crap!!
_Yuma said as he glanced at Kanato whom upon noticing that he is staring at him glared at him Yuma flinched and immediately looked away.
Yuma: Ain't no way. I am gonna let that kid scream at me!! He mumbled.
Shu: Hah!! Uwah! I just want to go home.
Carla: Don't tell me women you don't know what's your purpose in the game.
Yui: Game? Purpose? What are you saying?!
Reiji: I hope I am not wrong but it seems sleeping for too much has caused her to forget her purpose.
Carla: Say women do you know how to make me the supreme ruler.
Yui: Huh!? What is that??
Ruki: Hah looks like it's time for us to explain you the situation you are in.
I am Ruki, the eldest of orange family there are 13 man over here and there is no women here except for you. There are in total of three family violet, scarlet and orange. The main purpose of these family is to obtain Eve. Once Eve-
Carla: I am Carla eldest of violet. Eve had the ability or power you can say to make a supreme overload. Meaning a king and you are Eve and you have power to do that.
Kino: That's we all were after you we aren't some cosplayer or smugglers.
Yui: Well you did seem like that..
Kanato: Teddy she really thought we were crazy and we all thought you were crazy the whole time.
Carla: Now that everything is cleared out you will now come with us to violet household.
Subaru: Wait a minute!! You all are missing one detail.
Laito: Nfu~ let's not tell her guys poor girl will be so scared once she find out about that.
Kou: Ara~Ara Cmon Laito-kun I really want to see her reaction.
Azusa: Eve..is.. sane.. Eve.. Please.. come with.. us we... will... take good...care of.. you.
Yui: Wait a minute!! I can believe all this, all of you are lying it's impossible that there is no one here except us!
Ruki: Oh really! Where is the proof?
Yui: Proof--I might not have it right now but I am telling truth.
Kino: Hah! Why don't you just stop resisting and come with us? You have no place to go to!
Yui: That's true but I still won't come.... You all are brothers but you don't look alike at all!!?
Kanato: Teddy also thinks exact same!! They all are too weird to be my brothers and that red head idiot to be my twin.
Shin: Excuse me!!? You are actually weirdest of us brothers!! No you are the weirdest of us all--
Yuma: Bro you just shut up!! Don't anger him!! Why are you digging my grave?!?
_Yuma said as he put a hand on Shin's mouth to which Shin immediately removed.
Shin: You aren't my brother you vile--
Ruki: Shin!! Behave yourself!!
Shin: Yes, Nii-san .
_Ruki looked at yui and said.
Reiji: Yeah! that's true! We don't look alike. So what?! Does that change the fact that we are brothers? No it doesn't!
Yui: So basically you all have no parents?
Laito: Parents?!
Yui: Yeah... I mean you all must have different parents to have such different features.
Kou: Okay! Now it's crepping me out!
Yui: That's what I am trying to say that this place, you all something is not right!!
Kino: Princess don't stress too much. It's not that much of a big deal you know to have no parents.
Yui: But still that doesn't change the fact that they might have existed that's why you all exist!!
_Yui immediately blushed after saying this statement.
Laito: Well Eve-chan you are right! Nfu~we all already know how babies are made.
Shu: Lewd women you said it on purpose.
Yui: No I didn't I just want you all---
Ayato: Hah!! Stop!! Ore-sama is parched.
_He said as he came closer to yui.
Ayato: Why don't you take responsibility.
Laito: Aha! Now that you mentioned it she really is giving off a really sweet smell.
Subaru: Guys aren't we supposed to hide it-
Kanato: Teddy wonders if it's like a candy.
Yuma: Sow really does smell delecious. Hey! how about giving me a taste.
Laito: Nfu~Eve-chan you made me run all around to find you.
_He said as he got near her ear.
Kou: M-Neko-chan really is cruel! She really is selfish she made me do a lot of work how about you return favour as this is give and take world!
Subaru: Oii!! Stop saying that scary stuff to her and you both keep your hands off her!!!
Yui: Wai-it you.. all are again saying weird stuff?! Delecious and parched what do you mean by them?!
_Shu looked at Yui and smirked and gave her a show off his fangs.
Yui: Wha-
Shu: You now realize. Do you?!
Ruki: We aren't some bunch of humans. We are vampire.
Yui: Vam-mpire! You mean you all suck blood.
Kino: Hey!! I am offended we don't just do that! You humans have ruined our name.
Shin: What are you scared? I mean cmon don't tell me you don't realized it?!
Reiji: Having this level of strength isn't possible for a human man right? You should have realized it earlier that we aren't human.
Shu: I hope this answers your question about how I always get where ever you are.
Ruki: I guess you now know everything your purpose of being here and lastly our identity.
Carla: Hah! That's funny we didn't even try to mask our identity. You really are a dense women.
Yui: No-o that's impossible. I don't believe you!!
_Yui backed away from them.
_All of their eyes started glowing showing their animalistic nature.
Ayato: Say are you gonna choose who to come with or we decide it.
Yui: Wh-hat?
Kino: I mean you aren't gonna stay here right a forest is really a bad option for a fragile girl like you.
Subaru: Tch! It's not like a house full of male vampires is the best option.
Ruki: That's true but you are forced to choose between us we aren't requesting at first place that's an order. So hurry up and choose.
Carla: Eve choose which house are you going to live with. Choose wisely and carefully as it will decide the future supreme overload.
Reiji: So what's your decision Eve.
_Yui looked at all of them their attention fully focused on her.

The Arrangement
Chapter 4
Tumblr media
(a little zutara wip to entice you lol)
Excerpt -
Secured to the counter, Daisuke leveled Zuko with an unreadable look. This wasn’t the look of someone who had been caught, mused Katara, more like someone who had been mildly inconvenienced.
“Explain yourself, Councilor,” demanded Zuko. “Who were you just speaking to?”
Daisuke sighed, raising his eyes toward the ceiling, “Well now that you heard all that, I might as well tell you everything.”
The flippant response caught Zuko off guard, and he faltered from his powerful stance, throwing a confused look in her direction. Katara shrugged, unsure, keeping a concentrated hold on Daisuke.
“‘Everything’?” repeated Zuko with a scowl.

“Would you be able to send this letter to the address written on it? Personally?”
The girl you saved is named Ester, and without fail, people whose lives have been saved often feel indebted to their savior, so you know it would be right to have a little faith in her when you give her this task.
And as expected, she’s nodding without question and goes on her merry way.
It was the first thing you asked of her after all, because when you told her you had no need for the help she wanted to offer you with the injuries you sustained at the party along with wanting to help you feel comfortable in Alexander’s mansion, you could tell she was immediately angsty and in need of wanting to do anything you asked of her.
Nice girls like her often get taken advantage of.
Well, that’s none of your problem.
You take care of yourself with the treatment Ester provided for you, treating the cuts from where the bullets managed to wheeze past you, and bandaging yourself up before leaving the room provided for you.
Little Kiwi comes barking at your feet before you even reach the grand living room and despite not one to give or show affection, you pick the little thing up albeit reluctantly.
“Kid, isn’t it about time you head to sleep? And don’t lick me again, please, that’s quite rude.”
You hear a gentle chuckle from a familiar deep voice and finally walk into the living room to find both Alexander and Asher already there.
“Dogs don’t necessarily understand rudeness, though he listens to you quite well,” Alexander notes at the obedient puppy in your arms. He doesn’t wiggle around or bark and remains nestled where you hold him. When you take your seat on the sofa with a small space between you and Asher, the old man speaks again. “I heard you refused treatment from my people.”
You clear your throat awkwardly. “Forgive me, I’m not used to foreign touches.”
He knows you don’t mean “foreigners” per se and narrows his gaze slightly, possibly out of curiosity. “You have quite the skills, young lady, for having an unknown name.”
“My name is Y/N,” you tell him, sitting up. “I am a Reaper, the Grim Reaper of South Korea. My father passed away about a year ago, he was a good friend of your son Karl.”
“Karl.” He rubs his chin thinking about it. “So why have you come to Norway? To meet up with Karl?”
“Karl and I have never been that close, sir.” Of course not, you hate that man. Seeing his face alone will make you want to punch him but you know better than that. So keeping yourself calm, you look away to the side where the windows are, covered by pretty rose gold curtains. “I came here because I quite like the way the sun never sets during this time. It brings me peace.”
“You’re on vacation?” He raises a brow, doubtful, and looks toward Asher for confirmation but the man just shrugs without giving him an answer.
“You could say that,” you reply, and the old man clears his throat.
“It takes someone special to dodge all those bullets without managing any fatal injuries,” he returns to the topic of the matter as he leans back into his seat, an ankle propped onto a knee. “My son never mentioned someone like you, or his good friend.”
“The skills I acquired were not from my father, sir.”
“So you had a different master?”
“I was trained by a Yakuza master. He goes by the name Kitagawa Daisuke.”
Kitagawa Daisuke. Anyone who lives in the darkness knows the name. It’s almost like saying Shakespeare and an immediate ding pops into one's head. Your master is that famous in the underground world.
“No wonder..” Alexander looks at you with fascination now, a small crooked smile curling along his lips, eyes brightening. He knows not just anyone can call themself a disciple of Kitagawa Daisuke and it just further proves a point as to how dangerous the mission will be when you finally go up against your master. That is, if time will allow it. Who knows if you’ll even survive this mission.
You’re just dancing around with death at this point and he’s leading the moves.
“Now that you mention it, you have a sort of aura that you exude in the way I’ve seen with Master Kita. You live up to his name, no disciple of his would have let the enemies’ move confuse her.”
He must be talking about how you managed to recognize the motives of the enemies when you realize the focus was not on Alexander himself but his grandson, Asher Larsen.
You give the man a small glance before looking down at the puppy who’s now slowly dozing off in your lap. You give him a small scratch behind the ear, doting on him a bit. Who would have thought even the enemies knew the life of a dog mattered more to Alexander than his own grandson.
So Asher was right when he said Alexander doesn’t have favorites, which means that if someone does manage to gain his favor, it wouldn’t just be in your favor but you’d have more eyes on your back more than before.
Sounds like a headache.
But it’s the only way you can get rid of Karl. Because if you gain Alexander’s favor, it’ll mean he won’t blink an eye when you tell him you want his own son dead.
“Master told me to always keep my senses heightened no matter the situation.”
He hums at the answer and in a way, you hope this little attention you’ve gained from Alexander is enough to gain a bit of his favor. They say Alexander doesn’t like people who deliberately kiss up someone’s shoes to get to where they want. He’s probably had enough of those people. He also likes people who have a backbone and knows how to protect themselves.
“How would you like to be my new caretaker for Kiwi?” The proposal Alexander gives has your head perked up his way, feeling a bit dumbfounded and surprised, but he continues before you can reject or accept the offer. “You’re here on vacation, aren’t you? I’m sure Kiwi would love to continue seeing you until it’s time for you to return home.”
Perhaps he knows a bit of your plan. Perhaps he doesn’t. Either way, he’s giving you a great opportunity to remain seen by his side.
“I know it may sound a lot asking a mafia boss but I quite like you, Miss Y/N.”
“No, it’s quite alright,” you shake your head lightly and look down at the now sleeping puppy in your lap before giving Alexander the answer. “I’d gladly accept.”
He smiles, satisfied, and when he leaves after taking the sleeping puppy from you, you’re left alone with Asher who had been silent the whole exchange between you and Alexander.
“I’m impressed, that was quite the feat. No one’s ever gotten this far this fast.” When you look at the man who’s finally speaking up, there’s a small curl up his lips when he looks your way, and you guess this man is usually stoic for the most part. How great you’re earning a bit of favor from both the grandfather and the grandson.
“I guess it’s just in my nature to have people join my side.” You give him a simple reply, one he does not refute, and the day ends with that.
You don’t get a wink of sleep at all staying there in that mansion and you know it’s because you’re in an unfamiliar place. You’ve never been good at adapting to something new. It took some time for you to settle into the Bangtan manor when you first moved there years ago, but unlike how it was there and back at your own manor, Alexander’s mansion gives you some sort of comfort you’ve never had before.
It’s probably the fact that night never comes. Your room has windows placed at a good spot, where the sun seems to shine through even though there are clouds blocking part of it. It isn’t as bright as it was when you first arrived at the airport but when it still lights up the sky around three am, you’re grateful for being here, in Norway.
Norway is pretty in a way Korea has never been and being here, despite the mission you’re on, gives you a sense of peace and calmness Korea has never given you. It’s a foreign country and yet something about it, something about the sun not being allowed to set and give way to the stars and moon, to the darkness, you have the urge to stay here if you could. Forever if possible.
But peace can never truly stay forever as long as you live this life.
You have people to go after, a revenge plot you’re on. Maybe when everything is over, if you manage to survive in the end and meet your last victim without dying, maybe then you can return here.
But first comes earning Alexander’s favor.
“You’re going to be in charge of taking care of his dog?” Hoseok’s face is a bit comical when you relay them the news once morning comes and you arrive back at the place Namjoon has provided for you. “Just what do you know about taking care of dogs?”
“Not much,” you admit as you scroll through your phone in hopes of learning, “but Alexander’s given me a bit of trust so I might as well take the opportunity. Ah, speaking of,” you put your phone down for a second, looking between the two Bangtan men, “don’t the two of you have some experience in taking care of dogs? You’ll teach me, then.”
It’s a request that comes out of nowhere, especially after just dropping the bomb on them, but it’s not like there’s anything else they can really do.
Namjoon sent them here in support for you and despite the awkward air around each of you, you’re one to ignore all signs and pretend everything is and has always been alright.
“Well an important part of a dog’s routine is taking walks,” Jungkook speaks up after being quiet for a while. His brows are slightly furrowed, thinking. “Mr. Larsen has actually given you quite the task.”
He’s right.
Taking a dog out on walks means being out in the open air where enemy eyes are everywhere. If last night proves that Kiwi serves more purpose to Alexander than his own grandson — and the enemies know that — then being the dog sitter isn’t just any mere maid’s job.
They have to be smart, agile, quick, and strong because they’re looking after what equals an heir.
You’re basically Kiwi’s bodyguard.
“Maybe this is his way of testing me.” It has to be. He couldn’t just have trusted a random stranger to take care of something that clearly means a lot to him. Though that begs the question as to why.
Is it because you mentioned Kitagawa as your master? He’s quite well known after all, and well respected at that.
Still, something’s a little weird.
But if you’re trying to get close to the old man, you might as well take advantage of this while not forgetting to remain cautious.
No one can ever be trusted fully. There is always an ulterior motive behind one’s action.
“I have a question, sir.” When you return to the manor a little later that day, the first person you go to is Alexander, who easily allows you into his proximity just minutes after you asked for his time. You thought initially it’d be a while until you get your reply, after all, he’s a Godfather who’s probably busy with all sorts of things, which is why it’s surprising the reply came so soon and was received well.
His butler didn’t lead you to an office, rather, you found yourself walking into a pretty greenhouse that sort of reminds you of the one back at home.
It’s massive in size though, that’s a difference, but you can clearly tell it’s being taken care of well in the way your Reapers takes care of your greenhouse.
“One moment, Miss Y/N.”
Alexander has his back turned to you when you find him towards a corner, with a water can in hand as he personally feeds the plants the amount of water needed with a serene expression on his face.
Kiwi, who had followed you when you were led by the butler, walks over to respectfully nuzzle against his master’s foot.
“Pretty, aren’t they?” The old man comments with a smile once he’s done watering the plants and places the can back in its place.
“It’s a surprise you’re able to keep them alive here,” you utter as you take another look around at the greens all around you. “I have one back in Korea, though my Reapers take care of them.”
Alexander takes a seat on a bench and Kiwi jumps over to lay on his lap. “Taking care of things personally brings me peace.”
“...Does it, now?” In a world where things are always chaotic, you suppose having somewhere to go to for peace is ideal. “I don’t have a greenhouse for personal taste though.”
“Do you grow poison?” He asks and there’s really no use lying.
“Amongst other things.”
He falls silent for a moment, a serene silence, and it’s strange the way he looks at you in a way no one’s ever done before. You’ve seen creepy old men before, met a couple of them personally against your will, but Alexander doesn’t remind you much of them. He stands out further, but in a way that isn’t bad at all and for some reason that brings you another sort of uncomfortable feeling you don’t think you’ve ever felt before.
It’s strange and foreign, and perhaps he understands the effect he’s made on you because he lets out a light chuckle.
“I used to be just like you, little one.”
Your brows furrow at his words, confused. “I’m not sure I know what you mean, sir.”
“Always in a rush, never stopping to revel in the scenery.”
Because there’s no time for that. Time doesn’t wait for anyone and the enemies certainly don't. You’ve finally gained some sort of peace after your father’s death but even then, letting yourself go in order to be free from the chains isn’t exactly as easy as one may think.
You’re rushing because you want to reach peace, because you want a moment in time when things finally slows down and you’re okay with it, with the clocks existing, with the time ticking.
Peace doesn’t come to just anyone willingly.
“You’re anxious,” Alexander notes and perhaps you’re uncomfortable because he sees through a part of you that only people you allow in sees.
This is why you hate old people.
They can tell so easily because they’ve been through things.
“If I let time catch up on me, there will be nothing left in front of me.”
“Is that what you believe?” He asks, a hand running through Kiwi’s fur as the little dog begins to fall asleep. “What if what you want is already in front of you? Perhaps you just don’t want to face it because you’re afraid.”
Afraid?
Afraid of what?
But maybe he’s right. Maybe you know exactly what he’s talking about.
“You’re running away.”
Yes.
This man certainly does make you uncomfortable.
Not like the creeps, not like Leehyun, but not like Mister Butler either. Though in a way, there’s something familiar that you sense in him in the way you’ve felt with Mister Butler. As if he has a window to see through your soul.
But you’re sure not all old people know everything. They can only guess from what they’ve been given and seen.
You decide to keep your guard up.
“The question you wanted to ask,” perhaps he felt you trying to run from him so he changes the subject, “What was it?”
Right.
“When I take Kiwi out on walks, I’m sure you realize there may be people out there who will take advantage of those times. I don’t know the streets well and I don’t know who means well and who wants Kiwi dead. So I wanted to ask; the people that decide to come after me during Kiwi’s walk time, do you want them dead or alive when I bring them to you?”
So blunt and straight to the point, Alexander chuckles at that, amused.
“I’m sure a disciple of Master Kita will come to understand who poses a threat and who doesn't. I don’t care about the lives of those who want my little puppy dead. It doesn’t matter who they are, if they come after him, kill them. After all,” his eyes are gentle when he looks down at the puppy, though there’s a glint of danger that flashes in the light of his eyes, “only people with evil hearts will want to hurt an innocent puppy.”
Evil hearts. What a strange way to put it that way.
You get too curious not to ask; “Do you believe we aren’t evil? A little kid might subject us to the same category as them. We all kill after all. It doesn’t matter what, it doesn’t matter who. Killers are all evil in the eyes of some.”
He doesn’t think much on it when he answers your question. “In my eyes, many of us, like you and I, kill only for survival.” You and I, he says. “If an apocalypse were to happen, you’d kill a zombie for survival, wouldn’t you? You wouldn’t just it bite you and you certainly wouldn’t let them bite someone you care for. You’d kill them. For survival.”
He looks up, eyes as clear as day. “This business we’re in…we’re in the same boat.”
Killing to survive.
Killing because there is no other choice.
You don’t think you’ve ever met a man like him who seems so sentimental on life as if a part of him is satisfied with what he’s gone through but he also holds some regret, things he knows beyond you, years he’s lived more than you, and has gained wisdom from all the experience.
No one from this business has ever looked in the same lens as he does on life and you hate it.
You hate how it makes you feel.
So you drop the subject and leave the greenhouse, feeling that creepy sense of goosebumps on your body as you go.
When Kiwi wakes from his nap a little after, he comes to find you and you take him out on the walk you promised him before that meeting with Alexander.
The walk is nice, the scenery different from that of Seoul, and the breath of fresh air it allows you to intake with a piece of mind helps you remain calm and collected. Kiwi walks beside you without a leash, his little feet taking you down the paths as if he’s done this a thousand times before, with his little nose curious at every little thing around him.
He doesn’t ever stray away and you guess perhaps even the little one understands the dangers of what it means to be himself. In all honesty, you prefer cats over dogs but you have to admit this isn’t so bad — well, being in Norway helps, you guess.
In Seoul, the streets wouldn’t forgive you for taking a walk so carefreely like this.
But of course, Norway has its own dangers. You are taking care of a prominent figure of a powerful mafia after all.
For the most part, you had been following Kiwi and letting him guide you where his nose leads him, but when the two of you come towards a lake where lies a bridge at the center, the little puppy suddenly stops in his tracks, sniffs the air, before retracing back to you.
Your brows furrow slightly when he steps up to your feet, hiding in between them, and when you hear a small noise out of the ordinary and look up with a calm gaze at the sudden new presence that has now surround the both of you, an exasperated sigh leaves you.
So much for peace and quiet.
“Hey lady, what’re you doing with that dog?” A man asks in Norwegian.
“Dog sitting,” you reply in English.
They look amongst one another, confusion plastered on their faces probably because they’ve never seen you around before and when Kiwi grinds his teeth and growls lowly at them, you put a foot closer to him, trying to ease the little puppy.
“What happened to the old sitter? Dead?” He speaks up again, a brow raised your way. Perhaps he’s testing your ability to understand him so when he speaks in his language, you continue replying in English with perfect understanding of one another.
“Not dead. I’m just a temporary sitter.”
“And who are you? I’ve never seen you around Alexander before.”
“Just a common girl.” You take a small step back seeing the way he reaches for something in his pockets.
“You should know that the streets are dangerous.”
A little chuckle leaves you. “I wouldn’t be trusted with Alexander’s dog if I didn’t know that, now would I? Still, that’s a very bad idea,” you beckon at the gun he pulls out. “You wouldn’t want to do that.”
The corner of his lip curls upwards as he brings his gun forward to his face, playing with it just as his friends start to close in on you. “And why not? Are you afraid, little common girl?”
“Afraid?” You tilt your head back, laughing. “No, no, it’s not me who should be afraid.” He sends you a furrow in his brows at the way you look so relaxed and so you go on. “Alexander has already given me permission to eliminate anyone who poses a threat, which means I don’t have to go easy on you or spare your lives.”
“Really?” He scoffs, taunting you. “One against seven, you really think a little girl like you can take us?”
“Oh no, I’m not talking about me, though you’d be surprised I can totally take you.”
“What?”
“You should learn to heighten your senses, old man, maybe then you’d realize we aren’t the only ones here.” With that signal, someone from the group has their neck slashed from behind and another one gets shot right in the head.
One by one, they fall as you calmly pick up the scared little dog and stroke along his head to calm him down. He leans into your touch as the two of you ignore what’s happening around you, and once he finally seems alright again, you turn back to where Jungkook and Hoseok are standing, the enemies all dead on the ground.
You take one glance down at the dead bodies before checking the time on your watch. “I’ll inform Alexander and have his people clean this up,” you say as you reach for your phone. “Meanwhile, would one of you like to accompany me back to his mansion? Take on the role Taehyung took back at London?”
Jungkook comes along while Hoseok stays back and the walk back for the most part lies in silence.
Drama only occurs once you return to the mansion, hearing the sound of a familiar voice you haven’t heard in some time now. He shouts angrily you hear it through the halls and when you walk into the living room, you find Karl Larsen with three of his men behind him, reprimanding poor little Ester with Asher standing off to the side, looking bored and exasperated of his uncle.
No one stops him.
“Are you that incompetent? Just how useless are you that my father has to choose a stranger to take over your job? I told you to keep an eye on that mutt and you can’t even do that?”
Huh. Who would have thought Ester was actually Karl’s servant who had been assigned to look over Kiwi before you came in to take over temporarily? Though from the looks of it, when she cowers in fear under his demands, her head lowered, eyes tightly shut, shoulders trembling slightly, she doesn’t like this man so much.
Who does after all?
But she did look a lot more carefree living in this manor, looking after Kiwi under Alexander’s commands. Alexander isn’t known to bring just anyone in to work for him, which means Ester managed to gain his trust. He’s good at knowing who to trust, he wouldn’t just be easily swayed by his own blood’s opinions, so if given the chance, you believe that Ester wouldn’t hesitate to betray Karl.
She’s a sweet girl, you don’t doubt that.
Asher on the other hand, you aren’t too sure if a man like him deserves the benefit of the doubt.
He senses your presence though, unlike Karl and his men, and when he looks up to meet your eyes from the entryway of the living room, he stands up a little more straight, a small curl turning upwards upon the corner of his lips.
Maybe he’s just bored with petty family affairs and has no say in what his uncle wants or does. Family positions are important in the mafia after all.
“Where is she? The new girl?” Karl’s voice snaps back, his eyes bulging and you step towards them despite Jungkook’s caution, knowing the signs of that man. “Bring her to me now, you useless—”
His hand raises in the air and before it can come down at the young girl’s head, you grab his wrist mid-air with your left hand, stopping him successfully. “If you’re really that upset about the change, why don’t you bring it up to your father, spoiled old man?”
His brows furrow tightly when he looks your way initially, before his expression begins to cool and soften when he realizes just who it is that dared to stop him from punishing his subordinate. The strength of his arm weakens and he brings it back to his side, fixing the cuff of his suit, while a smirk plays on his lips as he keeps his gaze on you.
“Y/N,” the way he says your name makes you want to vomit and though for a second looking at that familiar, disgusting smirk on his face causes your mind to want to resurface the memories of all the things he’s done, you keep them back in, focusing on other things to not trigger it. “Look at you, you’ve grown so much since the last time I saw you. What are you doing here in Norway? Came to pay me a visit?”
He doesn’t know what happened to your father, you realize through those words, which is a bit surprising because of how close the two of them were, but then again, after the wipe of your father and his people, it kind of makes sense Karl never got word of your father’s death.
Both Asher and Jungkook are confused about the way Karl is acting so friendly and close to you, as well as the way he just naturally turns his attention from being angry at Ester to invite you to take a seat.
You follow him and settle Kiwi in your lap and see the way he glances at the puppy, a slight bitterness contouring his features before it disappears all too quickly.
He doesn’t like Kiwi, that much is clear, and with the way he addresses you, you can tell this man still thinks you of the naive little girl who would submit to just anyone without fighting back.
“Your words are a lot sharper than they used to be,” he notes, remembering the way you spoke to him. “Seems you’re finally growing into the woman that your father trained you to be.”
With a hand stroking the fur of Kiwi’s, you take a look at his three men. One of them is someone you recognize, the other two are completely new faces.
“Tell me then, how have you been since I left Seoul?”
One year, he came and left — not even one year but a summer, four months — and that was all it took for him to do all the things he’d done.
“I have news to give you, sir,” you say and he tsks at you.
“Come on now, call me what you used to call me. We were close, weren’t we? Don’t treat me like a stranger now, Y/N.”
He puts a hand on your shoulder and you bite your tongue back, resisting the urge to run from his touch. So with a tight grin, you give him the news he’s been needing to catch up on. “I am the Grim Reaper now..uncle.”
That amused expression on his face falls slightly, masked with surprise and confusion, and he takes one look at Jungkook who stands guard behind you, before returning his gaze back on you, flabbergasted.
“Your father’s dead?” He breathes, not believing it. “Why didn’t anyone tell me? How’d he die?”
Telling him the truth now would lead to an outburst from him and you can’t have Jungkook seeing that. Karl is a madman and if he knows of the truth here before strangers outside his and your people, he will definitely forget about the way your true relationship with your father is supposed to be kept a secret from the public.
“I apologize, uncle, preparations for his funeral and my succession took longer than expected.” Jungkook knows those words aren’t true but thankfully he knows to keep quiet.
“I could have helped,” Karl insists and you give him a pressed smile.
It’s strange the way he can’t comprehend just why the daughter of his friend whom he’s hurt many times did not want him involved in her family affairs, but you guess the minds of psychopaths are just like that. They can understand human emotions but they cannot feel them, and so they cannot emphasize with others.
“Do you not remember all the things you’ve done to me?” You want to ask him. “Do you not recall what you and father had done? Why would I want your help?” But you bite your tongue back just as Kiwi stirs from your touch, probably sensing a change in you.
The more you face the people who have done you wrong, the harder it is to keep the facade, you realize. Namjoon once said to stop before it all breaks you and you told him broken things cannot be broken even more but perhaps they can.
They can.
You’ve reached your breaking point before, not just once or twice, and yet it seems the world has just proven to you that glass can keep shattering and shattering until there is nothing left but dust.
Are you prepared to turn into dust?
You are. You’ve said it before.
“A broken glass can never mend itself to the way it used to be, the only thing it can do is break even more.”
You were prepared, your body was, but is your mind prepared? Will your mind ever be prepared?
No one is ever prepared to be broken, even if they think they are, and breaking again and again does not make you numb to the pain.
Kiwi whimpers on your lap, his head nuzzling into the palm of your hand when you stop stroking him. They say that dogs can smell human emotions and in turn, adopt them as their own, and hearing the distress whimpers, you try to return to Karl and give him a reply and yet nothing happens. You can’t even open your mouth to speak. You feel frozen on the spot.
Why now? Why now, whynow, whynow, whynowwhynow?
Footsteps are heard upon the silence of the room. “What’s making my Kiwi sound like that?” A low rumble demands an answer but you remain still, unable to move.
You feel paralyzed.
Kiwi looks up at his master’s voice for a second before going back to nuzzle against you and lend you his warmth, and while the people in the room stand up straight at his presence, Karl even going up to greet his father, you remain planted on the sofa.
Alexander ignores Karl to walk over to where his puppy is. He takes a glance your way, with Asher confused and Jungkook concerned and a little panicked because of the state you’re in, but rather than making this a big deal and reprimanding you for causing his puppy to sound the way he does, Alexander instead remains calm.
“Come here, Kiwi,” he calls, and though the pup hesitates at first, looking between you and his master, he eventually jumps up and into Alexander’s arms. “Karl, I’ll deal with you later. Right now I’m too busy to entertain guests.”
Though Karl looks like he wants to protest at first, he nods in reply, knowing he cannot talk back to his father. You were hoping he’d just leave it at that and go ahead with his men but for some reason, he just has to turn to you.
“My deepest condolences, Y/N. Let’s have tea to catch up next time, yeah?” Unable to grasp the situation, he reaches out to place a hand on your cheek, a smile on his face, before he arches his back straight again to bid Alexander goodbye.
In that moment, you stand, though it’s only because staying on that couch feels disgusting now having to sit still and do nothing when he reached out to touch you. You hate the touch, it burns you, but you remain silent when you stand a little behind Alexander, nodding Karl goodbye, and only once he leaves does the room feel a little easier to breathe in.
Just a little.
.
.
.
“Should I call Mingyu?” Jungkook asks when you return to the room Alexander prepared for you that first night you met him. He watches you with keen eyes and observance as you walk further into the room, away from the door, eyes still refusing to look anyone in the eyes, silent with a blank expression. “Or..should I leave the room?”
You don’t give him an answer but you’re thinking.
How far is it from here to the manor Namjoon prepared for you? A couple of minutes away by vehicle, which means it wouldn’t be that difficult for him to come here. But him coming here would mean a hassle because then you’d have to let the people here know that Mingyu’s one of yours and you don’t feel like interacting with anyone right now. A letter in your handwriting wouldn’t suffice either because they don’t know your handwriting.
You could honestly call Ester and describe Mingyu’s face to tell her he’s with you but that would mean interacting.
Jungkook could leave the room and yet the thought of him leaving gives a small dread in the pits of your stomach because you hate being alone and left in an unfamiliar place and right now he’s the only thing that’s familiar to you.
Familiar.
How funny that this familiar person left you to fend for yourself and gave you his cold shoulders when you needed him most.
And yet there’s no other choice.
So just like back in London when you familiarized yourself with Seokjin’s warmth and kindness for that split second, you turn around to face Jungkook.
He stands far from you, having not moved from the door since the two of you walked in, and a part of you hates that despite what he’s done to you, you know Jungkook is a man with natural kindness and would never do anything that would harm you on purpose. You see it in the way he keeps his distance, in the two questions he asked, how he doesn’t try to approach you, that unlike Karl who doesn’t know how to take a hint, he understands your fear of being touched by men even though you did allow Yoongi to hold you and poked Seokjin slightly on the shoulder.
He respects your boundaries. He always had, he always did.
So why did it have to end with him giving you the cold shoulders and pretending he hated you? Why did things have to turn out the way it did?
You’re so tired. Tired of everything.
“Come here,” you call for him, and you hate how even when you give him permission to come close, he still hesitates, concerned for the state of your mind.
When he approaches, his steps are slow, and once he’s inches away from you, you hold out the palm of your hand.
“I want you to help me with something,” you say, “you don’t have to do much, just..stay still and…and give me your hand.”
His brows are knitted, eyes staring down at your palm as if this isn’t a good idea. “I’m sorry,” he tells you, feeling conflicted. “Hoseok should have been here, we should have switched places. He would’ve been a better choice in—”
“I know Hoseok would have been the better choice but we can’t turn back time now can we?!” Your patience is starting to wear thin and when he flinches a little at the way you raise your voice, your own eyes widen at what you’d just done. Shocked at how easy it was to lose control, and when you begin to spiral out of fear for raising your voice at him, you put your hands in your hair, trembling.
“I’m sorry, please just…just help me, Jungkook. You have to replace what he did. I hate it, I hate his touch, and right now I’d rather feel your touch than his so please…please?” You look up at him, not caring that you’re pleading and looking desperate.
When he sees it, sees the way your eyes gloss over with a glaze of water, at your panicked tone and your begging for his help, he gives you his hand.
You take it and press his palm onto your cheek, over that burning feeling from where Karl touched you, and the peace that you yearned for doesn’t come right away. You struggle for a bit and your legs almost give in from the weakness but Jungkook’s right there to hold you up and bring you over to the bed so that you don’t have to rely on your legs.
He remains standing before you, watching as you rest your eyes while keeping his hand pressed to your skin.
It takes some time for the storm to wash away and for the calm to walk over but it comes, eventually, and when it does come, it isn’t in the way it is with Mingyu. Jungkook doesn’t give you the sort of calm that your second in command gives you, though you expected it because no one can replace Mingyu’s warmth.
The sort of calm Jungkook gives you follows with pain and grief over what had been lost all those years ago.
His warmth, his presence, his puppy-like self following you around, willing to do anything and everything for you. He’d always been such a quiet man who follows the rules well, who does everything with great effort, who is sometimes too naive and gets roped up in Jimin’s antics and gets scolded for things he didn’t do.
Always there to lend you his jacket when you shivered in the slightest way, always there to protect you from anyone that bothered you, noticing the smallest things, and though you relied on him for a lot of things, he relied on you in turn as well.
You understood him in ways the others couldn’t, the two of you in love like those two innocent little kids who were finding out what it meant to love someone for the first time. Soft and gentle, a bit awkward and clumsy.
“They didn’t have the drink that you like but I got you…” He walks back with a hand holding onto a glass of something for you to drink, but in the middle of his sentence, Jungkook’s expression falls. “...Something happened.”
Immediately, he’s shifting his head around to try and find who it was that approached you tonight but before he can get too far, you’re grabbing ahold of his arm and pulling his attention back on you.
“It…nothing happened,” you insist with a bit of panic on your expression, afraid of what Jungkook might do out in public like this, all the while trying to see if you can catch of glimpse of Namjoon anywhere on the floor. Thankfully he isn’t around, otherwise he’d be able to also tell something was wrong with one look your way.
There are days when hiding your emotions are easy and there are other days when it’s a little more difficult. Like on the days when people make you uncomfortable and you just can’t seem to hide it well. Those days are hard.
And Jungkook, who looks back at you, clearly doesn’t buy your little protest. “Y/N, I need you to just point out—”
“Please.” You squeeze his biceps, holding yourself close to him, pleading with your eyes as you look up at him, and Jungkook immediately recognizes just what those eyes are trying to tell him;
‘Don’t leave me alone.’
You’re frightened, he realizes, and after a small look around the room to check his surrounding, he brings you in close to him and keeps you by his side as he takes your hand and brings you around to an empty space where the two of you can be left alone together.
“Is there anything you need?” Is the first thing he asks you as he sits you down on a seat in the empty room, but you simply shake your head and squeeze his hand tight.
“Just you,” you say in a quiet voice, and Jungkook stays with you that night without ever leaving your side, all the while you simply hold onto the touch of his hand, the feel of it a comfort unlike any other.
His touch reminds you of those memories, of the past and the tears and the smiles, and though you hate the pain that it resurfaces, you’d rather revel in this pain than the pain of remembering the memories with Karl.

why is xtra hated? Does it have character inconsistencies or something else to have hate towards it?
Ok. So. For starters, one of the main characters is a girl named Mizuha that is very probably a child/young teenager and they draw her like this all of the time (sometimes even WORSE):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(her personality is... fine... I guess. she's just uncomfortably sexualized)
The plot is basic shounen genre trope soup. The other main character, Tyr, has a dragon/Gear arm and was sealed away for a mystery amount of years so he looks like a teenager but is older than Ky (who was ~24 in the canon at the time). They also did that thing where Ky ~just so happened~ to have seen Tyr on the battlefield when he was a kid before he joined the Holy Order, and Tyr is apparently working with/under Kliff. Very "we have a new character and need to speedrun making him relevant. let's shoehorn him into everyone else's backstories."
Tyr's Gear arm (it looks like a normal arm unless he activates it):
Tumblr media
None of the characters ever bring any of this up ever again outside of Xtra. It's not mentioned in GG World, any of the guide books/encyclopedias, character profiles, novels, interviews, etc. Which you think it would be if Kliff knew A GUY WITH A GEAR ARM IN THE HOLY ORDER LOLL
The characters that are actually in the games make cameo appearances throughout the comic and I think the artist had more fun drawing them than they did the actual protagonists because they all look leagues cooler than anything Tyr or Mizuha end up doing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will give Xtra credit for one thing though, and that's for giving us one of the rawest Sol Badguy scenes in the entirety of Guilty Gear:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just don't get how the guy that wrote Lightning the Argent and Butterfly & Her Gale, two books that are still canon-relevant and generally enjoyed by the (JP) community, ended up writing such a bland story. Was it solely his idea? Was someone else forcing him to make changes to the plot and he just had to go with it?? This was GGX era so Guilty Gear was doing PRETTY GOOD in Japan at the time.
I have no idea why they felt the need to put out something with such an unoriginal premise in a series that frequently bends or breaks genre expectations. Daisuke Ishiwatari is included as an author on this, but I get the impression that was just a legality thing since he wrote basically the entire setting and cast outside of the few new ones introduced in Xtra. None of the Tyr lore beats line up with any of the established Gear lore, either pre- or post-Xtra.
Why did they write Xtra when they could have written something focused on the established cast instead. Going into Xtra for the first time is like when you pick up a cup expecting it to be pop and find out it's water instead but since you were expecting something sweet the water just tastes gross and extremely disappointing. Xtra is my least favorite Guilty Gear entry out of the entire library. Vastedge at least gave us Naoki Hashimoto and Isuka gave us A.B.A. Xtra just gave us wiki editors annoying homework.
You can read Xtra over on Mangadex if you wanna form your own opinions about it. It's only one volume and can be read pretty quickly: https://mangadex.org/title/911025e8-ae47-499c-8eff-453d18b6459a/guilty-gear-xtra

Not only we are graced today with a momentous illustration courtesy of Yana Yoboso, articles have come out with Daisuke Ono and Maaya Sakamoto as interviewees and their feelings towards the new season.
To be honest, I was a little worried about whether I would be able to play Sebastian as usual back then. But when I was allowed to record with Maaya, and when I heard Ciel's voice next to me, I naturally felt that I was Sebastian. I think the role itself is spun with my own voice, but I felt like I went back to the origin because I was never alone, but I was making it with people. I can be Sebastian because Ciel is there. (Daisuke Ono)
From Maaya :
For about 15 years, I feel that I have spent the same time in the same work while passing through the days when I face each role and worry about it, and before I knew it, the part of trusting each other as a buddy was nurtured. I'm thinking that maybe Ciel and Sebastian are like that too. At first, we had a tense relationship as a business partner, but especially in this "Boarding School Edition", we felt the scene where we rely on each other and the atmosphere of allowing each other, not only as a business partner but also a relationship of trust. There are also two people. In that way, I think there are places where the actor and the character are synchronized.
I had the impression that Ciel, who I originally felt, was a boy with a smart and cool side, a situation where he could not show his age-appropriate innocence, and a sad side with a dark past. Speaking of charm, such a shadow part is also attractive, but sometimes my heart is in pain when I look at it ... I feel that such a Ciel is drawn very vividly in the "Boarding School Edition" of this work. As a dormitory student, a refreshing ordinary boy ... I'm playing "another Ciel" who is not me, and I spend time with my seniors, chat quietly in bed with the boy in the same room, and get absorbed in cricket games .... Of course, there is a premise that you infiltrate in the name of the Queen, but it showed a lot of emotions and rich expressions that have never been seen in Ciel so far, so this work may be the most colorful so far.
I have to sift through them still as they are a treasure trove of information concerning the VAs of S and Ciel who have been working for years and their relationship.
It is lovely to read their thoughts about this particular project that has been running for years.

Ch. 1 - Black Dahlia Black Dahlia flowers often represent betrayal or sadness. AN: I wrote this after getting the character guide. I learned that the Zenin estate is in Kyoto after all, along with the Kamo estate. Oops. We're going with it anyway!
The glittering lights of the world's largest city unfolded in front of you as the sleek, black sedan that carried you sped down the Shuto Expressway. It had been a five and a half hour drive that you spent entirely silent in the backseat as your youngest uncle, Daisuke, drove you toward the outskirts of Tokyo toward the imposing Zenin estate. The skyscrapers sparkled as you drove on the highway, the early setting sun casting a glow on their windows as tiny February snowflakes fell to the city streets below.
You shifted in your seat, the knot of your obi restraining you tighter than your own seat belt. You hooked your thumb under the tight fabric to take a deep breath and ease some of your pain. You hated having to dress so formal -- ironic considering the conservative family you came from who prided themselves on lineage and tradition. You were the Kamo clan's jewel, the youngest daughter of the clan head. But as a woman, youngest aside, you had 'no right' to become the heir apparent; that role instead passed down to your 'bastard' half-brother, Noritoshi, though you'd never personally call him that. He'd inherited the prized cursed technique of your family, and you convinced yourself that your father's reasoning was right. So you ignored it and adored your youngest brother, the mama's boy. Besides, you had a much more important task at hand.
Daisuke looked in the rear-view mirror at you, his grip tightening on the steering wheel as he tried to analyze your facial expression while you busied yourself with studying the sparkling skyline. As your youngest uncle, who often carted you around as your attendant, you were close to him -- and those 'complications' from your 'task,' he knew all about. In fact, you saw Daisuke as more of a father, or brotherly, figure than your own father.
After such a long silence, the Zenin estate only a few minutes away as you drove away from the city, Daisuke finally broke it. "You alright, Y/N? It's been a long journey from Kyoto," his voice held deep concern. The windshield wipers of the car made a loud squeak as they dragged themselves across the too-dry glass, snow and salt still dirtying it as Daisuke sighed irritably and discharged the wiper fluid using the shifter near the steering wheel.
You turned your head slightly, meeting Daisuke's gaze in the mirror with cool composure. Swallow it down. That's what you knew best. "I'm fine, Uncle. Just contemplating the path ahead."
Daisuke nodded, acknowledging the weight of the situation. "Today, you'll be betrothed to another Zenin. You've a crucial role in...ensuring the continued influence of our clan," his tone hinted at your true task at hand, more than a measly arranged marriage. "And you know your father is...eager...to see his direction carried out promptly this time."
Your expression remained unchanged as you turned your attention back to the view outside, your eyes betrayed only a glimmer of detached determination. "I understand, Uncle. I'll play my part, and I won't fuck up...again," your voice was quiet as you tried to end the conversation quickly with your harsh, irritated tone.
"You know your role in this alliance is crucial, Y/N. The clan has invested much into this partnership with the Zenin and your abilities are our greatest asset," Daisuke focused back on the road, his voice laced with double meaning that you could easily decipher. His breathing briefly hitched as he hit a patch of black ice as the expressway you were once on turned into winding country roads.
A subtle smirk played on your lips, you felt your blood pressure starting to rise with irritation. "I'm well aware, Uncle. The Kamo clan's rise to power is at stake and I have no intention on letting us down."
Daisuke sighed, his gaze remaining fixed on the road ahead. "You've done well in the past, especially with...your late husband. But this time, try not to take seven years to finish the job. Our arrangement relies on their vulnerability and we've postponed the progression long enough."
Your eyes glinted with a cold determination as you saw the Zenin estate steadily coming into view, one of the last remaining shinden-zukuri style estates from the Heian era -- besides your own back in Kyoto. "Rest assured, Daisuke. I know what needs to be done. I've done it quite a few times before," you were throwing his first name around as if it were a threat. As close as you were, you were pestered he kept bringing up your circumstances as if you didn't know what you were doing.

Daisuke pulled the car onto the brick driveway that curved toward the front gates to the Zenin estate. You waited in the back as he got out and opened the door for you, offering his hand to assist your movements. You did your best to gracefully exit the vehicle despite the tight skirt of your kimono, the slowly setting afternoon sun providing a warm backdrop to the otherwise solemn occasion for the reason of your arrival. You shivered as you felt the cold air at your wrists and ankles, feeling lucky for wearing a thick kimono for once.
He led you toward the imposing front gates, the two of you being greeted by a few attendants who then led you toward the main building where your father-in-law Zenin Naobito, the twenty-fifth head to the Zenin clan, awaited you.
"Make them believe you're mourning, Y/N," Daisuke whispered in your ear, slightly leaning down as two female attendants quietly led the way toward the center building. "But remember your duties."
With a nod, accompanied by your irritated expression, you entered the estate to find Naobito lounging informally on a zabuton. I don't need to pretend, you thought to yourself, I am in mourning.
Naobito was sucking down sake from an o-choko as if it were nothing before pouring himself another from a gourd. He leaned against the armrest to his zabuton, one leg curled inward with the other propped up, his elbow resting on his knee.
The attendants who had led you there silently closed the shoji doors behind you as you stepped toward Naobito, keeping a step behind your uncle. Considering you'd been dealing with the Zenin clan since you were a child, you knew all about their cold and conniving ways, particularly that of the misogynistic nature. You knew to keep your mouth shut and your head low, at least in front of a man like Naobito.
The main room of the estate was large, built of the sturdiest wood. The ceiling was held up with large wooden pillars throughout the room made of the same wood that planked the floors. You stood with your uncle on the large, raised platform in just your socks against the tatami mats. Naobito was sitting at the front of the room alone with attendants stationed at each of the doors in the room.
Daisuke took the first move, bowing respectfully to adhere to the formalities of clan politics. "Zenin-sama, I bring you Kamo Y/N. She comes to offer her condolences on the passing of your son and her late husband, Zenin Naohiro."
Naobito looked up from his lounging position, taking a prolonged sip from his next cup of sake, staring at the two of you with an air of indifference. His sharp eyes assessed you, and for a moment, you thought you saw a flicker of recognition that made your heart flutter nervously. However, it was quickly replaced by the cold mask that almost always defined him.
"Daisuke," Naobito greeted casually, setting his sake cup aside. "It's been some time. I trust the journey here was uneventful?"
"Indeed, it was. We're grateful for your hospitality over the next few days," he responded professionally, continuing to adhere to formalities despite Naobito's lack of interest.
Naobito nodded dismissively, his attention turning to you. His cold stare was almost enough to send a shiver down your spine. "Y/N, a pleasure to see you as well," he remarked with a slight smirk, not bothering to rise from his seated position.
You kept your eyes low, dipping into a respectful bow of your own. You did your best to maintain a somber expression as Daisuke introduced you more formally. "Zenin-sama, allow me to present once again, Kamo Y/N, youngest daughter of the twenty-fourth head to the Kamo clan."
Naobito studied you for a moment, his gaze piercing through the layers of your kimono and the stoicism you presented. "Pity about the circumstances that bring you here...again," he remarked, a cruel glint in his eyes.
You inclined your head in acknowledgement, maintaining the facade of grief as it came naturally. "Thank you, Zenin-sama. I am honored to be here despite the sorrow that accompanies my arrival."
Naobito waved his hand dismissively, clearly uninterested in niceties. "Let's get on with it then. Daisuke, our arrangement?"
Daisuke cleared his throat, shifting into his formal tone once more. "As agreed, Y/N will be betrothed to one of your sons, or another appropriate clan member should a son not be available, securing the alliance between our clans. The Kamo clan seeks the strength and protection of the Zenin, and in return, we offer our influence and support with regard to matters involving those higher in rank."
Naobito's indifferent demeanor remained unchanged as he listened to your uncle's formalities. After a moment, he sighed audibly, a hint of annoyance tainting his expression.
"Unfortunately, all of my other sons are already married...save for one," Naobito stated coldly. "Naoya is my youngest, and he remains unmarried. I suppose he'll have to suffice for this...pathetic alliance. Though, I expect his resistance. The boy's not one known for his behavior."
Daisuke nodded respectfully, acknowledging the limitations of the situation. "We appreciate the flexibility, Zenin-sama. I'm sure Naoya will be a worthy match for Y/N."
Naobito leaned back after rolling his eyes, taking another sip of sake as he considered the arrangement. He turned to one of the attendants quietly standing against the wall. "Go and fetch Naoya. Inform him of the situation and bring him here promptly."
The attendant nodded, a flicker of fear evident in her eyes, but they quickly composed themselves and exited the room in haste. Naoya, known for his unpredictable and ruthless nature, was a figure to be feared even within the Zenin clan.
The silence was deafening as you, Daisuke, and Naobito stared at one another while waiting for the attendant to return. After a short few moments, the attendant returned with a hesitant bow, her eyes showcasing an obvious mix of fear and trepidation. She spoke in a hushed tone, addressing Naobito with utmost respect. "I apologize, Zenin-sama, but Naoya refuses to come. He is still resting, as he returned late last night from a...festivity."
Naobito's face tightened with irritation, his fingers drumming impatiently on the tatami mat next to him. "Still sleeping? At this late hour? Unacceptable." He turned to the attendant with a stern expression. "Gather more attendants. If he refuses, drag him in if you have to. I won't have my son shirking his responsibilities for his...indulgences."
You gave Daisuke a certain look that blatantly showed you were trying to hold back laughter despite yourself. You found Naobito's lack of control over his children amusing. Naohiro had been the same, disobedient to his father, though he was much more gentle with you. Naoya, you knew, was going to be a problem. Daisuke lightly nudged you to behave as he held his polite expression.
The attendant, visibly more nervous now, nodded and quickly exited the room. Naobito sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, his annoyance evident. "That boy has no sense of responsibility. Always chasing after fleeting pleasures."
The fusuma doors slid open again, revealing a group of female attendants. They entered with conflicted expressions of determination as they wrangled a disheveled Naoya who was fighting against their grasp, still half-asleep, as he was forcibly dragged into the room in a white t-shirt, boxers, and an unfastened yukata that hung off of one of his shoulders. His bleached hair accentuated with black tips darted in a few different directions as he ripped his arms out of the attendants' grasp with a furious look on his otherwise sleepy expression.
Naoya adjusted his disheveled clothes as he stood up a bit straighter, not caring to fix his tousled hair. Naobito's eyes narrowed with displeasure as he observed his son's state. "Naoya, this is an important matter. Show some respect."
Naoya glared at his father as he stood with his feet slightly apart for balance, mind still dizzy from a night of his usual revelry. His head snapped in your direction to which his frustrated expression fell into a deep smirk. "Well, well, if it isn't the Kamo princess," Naoya sneered, his arrogant grin widening as he appraised you with a dismissive glance. "Coming to play the grieving widow, are we?"
You kept a straight face as you stared at Naoya, straightening up your shoulders to look at him head-on. You carried no fear for the immature boy standing in front of you. Daisuke, too, gave Naoya a disapproving look but refrained from saying anything, knowing the delicate nature of the situation.
Naobito, giving yet another audible sigh in an attempt to bring attention back to the task at hand, cut to the chase. "Naoya, Y/N is to be your betrothed so that our alliance with the Kamo clan can remain secure."
Naoya's eyes widened in outrage as he processed the information. "You've got to be kidding me, old man! I'm not interested in some arranged marriage nonsense," he spat, his voice dripping with disdain. He clenched his fists at his sides as he glared at his father. It was nearly impossible to take him seriously considering his disheveled appearance.
Naobito's patience wore thin as he shot Naoya a stern look. "Watch your tongue, boy. This alliance, as pathetic as it seems, is crucial to the Zenin clan, and you will do as your duty demands."
Naoya rolled his eyes dramatically, an exaggerated display of defiance. "Duty? I have no duty to anyone but myself. I won't be shackled to some woman and dragged off to Kyoto like a common servant. Like my pathetic brother."
You remained composed, watching the exchange with an impassive expression. Daisuke, though disapproving of Naoya's behavior and not desiring to subject his niece to such torture, kept a respectful distance, knowing better than to intervene in the Zenin family affairs.
Naobito's tone turned even colder as he asserted his authority. "You will do as I say, Naoya. This is not up for negotiation. The alliance with the Kamo clan must be maintained and you will fulfill your responsibilities as the next clan head. Or do I need to revoke that title from you and give it to one of your older brothers?"
Naoya's bratty attitude persisted and he scoffed at his father's words. "Fine, I'll play your little game, but I'm not leaving Tokyo. If she's supposed to be my bride, the bitch can come live in my domain. I won't be caught dead in that dull city of Kyoto, not when I need to manage the Hei!"
Naobito's patience had run out, and he slammed his hand on the armrest of the zabuton, his voice cutting through the room like a blade. "Enough, Naoya! This is not a negotiation! You will follow through with this arrangement, and she will live in Kyoto with her family. The Hei may be significant, but it does not give you the right to defy our clan's decisions."
Naoya scowled, clearly displeased with the outcome. "This is ridiculous. If I have to marry her, she's staying in Tokyo. I won't be confined to that backward city!"
You took a deep breath, feeling fed up with the back and forth between petty father and son. "If I may," you began, breaking the silence with a steady voice despite the tension in the room. Naoya and Naobito's furious gazes darted toward you, equal in baffled disgust at your sudden dare to speak. "I understand his concerns about leaving Tokyo considering his responsibilities with the Hei. If it pleases the Zenin family, I am willing to remain in Tokyo as long as I am able to be provided a part of the garden to tend to my plants and a suitable place to store my...reptiles."
Daisuke's eyes widened in shock at your unexpected proposal. He knew all too well the risks involved in meddling with the affairs of the Zenin clan, especially with someone as unpredictable as Naoya.
Quietly, Daisuke leaned in closer to you, his voice barely above a whisper. "Y/N, are you sure about this? Your safety at the Zenin estate cannot be guaranteed."
You met Daisuke's concerned gaze with a silent nod, your eyes reflecting quiet determination. You were well aware of the dangers, but you were confident in your ability to navigate the treacherous waters of the Zenin clan. Turning your attention back to Naoya and Naobito, you awaited their response, your posture unwavering despite the intensity of the situation.
Naoya's arrogant grin faltered for a moment as he considered your proposal, his brow furrowing in thought. "Hmph, you're quite bold for a Kamo," he remarked, a hint of begrudging respect underlying his words. "Very well, if you're willing to tend to your plants and snakes like some common gardener, then so be it."
Naobito, though visibly displeased with the compromise, reluctantly acquiesced. "Fine, if that's what it takes to ensure the success of this alliance then so be it. But make no mistake, Kamo Y/N, any misstep on your part under this roof will not be tolerated."
You gave a small nod of acknowledgement. Inside, you felt a surge of relief and victory knowing you had secured a concession from the formidable Zenin patriarch and his bratty son.
Naobito's stern gaze shifted from you to Naoya, a clear signal that the matter was settled. "Naoya, get dressed. You will show Y/N around the estate while I finalize the details of your betrothal with Daisuke."
Naoya scowled at his father, clearly displeased with the order. "Why am I the one tasked with babysitting the princess around this dull place?"
Naobito looked toward the ceiling and clenched his jaw as if he were praying to some kind of deity. After a moment, he turned back to look at his son. "Consider it a punishment for your insolence. Now, obey your duty and show her the estate. Perhaps you'll learn something about responsibility."
Naoya huffed in annoyance but didn't dare further protest in front of his father. He shot a disdainful glance at you. "Fine, let's get this over with. Follow me, Kamo," he sneered, emphasizing your family name with a mocking tone.
You maintained your composure, but smirked as you walked behind him. "Lead the way, Zenin-sama. I'm sure it won't be as dull as you claim."
Tumblr media
As Naoya grumbled and stormed out of the room, you continued following him, Daisuke's watchful gaze lingered on you with concern. The attendants opened the shoji doors and you and Naoya stepped out and began walking toward his room, his bare feet hardly making a sound against the spaced wooden planks of the outdoor pathway. As you followed behind, you saw his angry breath following him in the cold air of late afternoon.
Naoya walked ahead of you with an air of arrogance, fists still clenched as his black yukata flowed in the breeze of his quick pace. "I hope you're not expecting some kind of grand tour, Kamo. This place isn't as exciting as you think."
You chuckled softly, not letting his arrogance faze you. "Then I suppose I'll need to liven things up around here with my presence."
He shot you a skeptical glance as you stopped in front of his room's door, his eyes narrowed at you as he slid the door open. "Don't mistake this for willingness. I'm only doing this because the old man ordered it. I couldn't care less about a whore like you or this alliance nonsense."
As Naoya entered his room, you remained outside, leaning casually against the sliding door. You slid your hands into your sleeves for warmth as you waited. The opened door allowed you to catch glimpses of the interior where Naoya, in his disheveled state, attempted to compose himself.
The room was dimly lit, and the faint scent of strong alcohol lingered in the air. You watched with mild amusement as Naoya stumbled to dress, his bare feet unsteady on the wooden floors, a clear sign that he was still grappling with the aftermath of the previous night's festivities. His yukata hung loosely from one shoulder, revealing a toned and defined physique beneath the fabric. Despite the obvious signs of his hangover, there was an undeniable attractiveness to Naoya's disarray. His bleached, black-tipped hair, tousled from sleep and night's revelry, framed his face in a way that accentuated the sharpness of his muscular chest and arms.
Naoya fumbled with the buttons of his collared shirt, a slight grimace on his face as he tilted his chin upward, wincing from the headache that undoubtedly plagued him. With his shirt buttoned, he grabbed his dark blue hakamashita from his bed where he tossed it. As you observed his attempts to dress himself, you couldn't help but be intrigued by the contradictions within Naoya -- the audacious, carefree exterior that masked the complexities beneath. It was evident that, despite his arrogant demeanor, he was not immune to the consequences of his indulgences. He still had some growing room left.
Naoya lastly put on his white hakama pants, tying them at his waist with a bit of frustration. He shot a glance in your direction, a mix of annoyance and curiosity in his eyes. "Are you just going to stand there, Kamo, or do you plan on entering? You're letting all the warm air out," he motioned irritably to the space heater on the floor.
Your lips curled into a sly smile as you pushed off the door, entering his room with a deliberate confidence and closing the shoji door behind you. "I thought I'd give you a moment to compose yourself, Zenin. Wouldn't want to interrupt your morning routine," you chuckled lowly and crossed your arms. "Excuse me...I meant afternoon routine."
He scoffed, the arrogant smirk returning to his face. "Morning routine? More like recovering from a night well spent. But enough about that. What do you truly want? I'm not here to entertain you."
Your eyes scanned the simple yet elegant decor of his room. "Entertainment is subjective, Zenin. I'm simply here to fulfill my duties as your betrothed, as per our esteemed fathers' arrangement."
Naoya rolled his eyes, the remnants of irritation evident in his expression. "Right, the illustrious betrothal. A joyous occasion, I'm sure. Now, let's get this stupid tour over with."
Dates: February 14, 2018 - Naohiro, Naoya's brother and Y/N's ex-husband, is killed. February 18, 2018 - Y/N is sent to the Zenin estate to be married off to an eligible Zenin bachelor. AN: Reminder, this is your father and half-brother. c: (From Vol. 22)

Lavender Jacket Series Jacket Overview: Jigen Daisuke
Find Yata's Overview Here: Thank you @pixelateddork for the art.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next on the list for the Jacket Overview series is a fan-favorite and one that I'm especially happy with.
Jigen Daisuke For his BASE PALETTE, Jigen sports his tradition getup, but it is more of the TWCFM set up of colors: his typical wardrobe as always sticks to the ashy-grayish black suit, light-blue dress shirt, white-tie and his traditional fedora which like the rest of his outfit ranges within the ash-grey tones see here (thank you screenshot recolors)
Tumblr media
His SECOND OUTFIT
Like many shows we have seen regarding the pair, Jigens palette is often made to coincide or at least generally fit well with Lupin’s palette, even if he often does head toward the more traditional route with his colors- the blues, the blacks, the grays and so on and so forth. While Lupin took on the more softer Lavender colors in this series, Jigen however sports, not so much a different look, but one that I believe fits well with Lupin’s as well as the Lavender Jacket series as a whole
Tumblr media
In LJS, Jigen’s tradition of typically wearing a darker set of colors compared to Lupin’s lighter shade still stands strong. However those traditional colors have since moved on from the typical  colors he’s most famously known for and instead now he sports colors that one may not have typically seen on Jigen outside of Part 3.
The First of the new colors presented are a Green Suit and Pants. Traditionally Green has always been a color that symbolizes many things, though the meanings of green can vary by shade similar to blue or red. For example: Bright green often symbolizes rebirth and spring while Olive green represents tranquility, earthiness and elegance. In Jigens case, Dark green or various shades of it, can often represent things such as fertility, greed, money and drive. For some shades, it also carries connotations of wealth and success but can sometimes signify greed and envy.
In Jigen’s case, the color green is often a double-edged sword; while things like  tranquility do not come easy for him until much much much later in the storyline, his drive to right his wrongs at times may also to many seem admirable at best and maybe suicidal at worst. Despite this, he still holds an elegance to him even during some of the worst times of his life which fits him strutting around in green very well.  The Darkish Red of his hat and tie also symbolizes things as well. Wine Red is a deep Red that often comes in many shades and often symbolizes traditional things like sophistication, passion, and luxury, few things that Jigen can’t afford to lose yet enjoys all the same as well while he can.
Especially passion. Throughout LJS, Jigen often finds himself being thrust into Lupin's role in more ways than he often anticipates, outside of simply just Leadership. In addition to this, he often finds himself shocked, about how often he ends up trading one vice, his alcoholism, for something better. The Act of Sex The moment Fujiko and him hook up in LJS, Jigen is often led to believe it’s the sex in which his body craves, like some new hyper-drive in his borderline dead sex-drive. While this turns out to not fully be the case, (he realizes later on down the line that its not simply the sex but the touch his body craves, not just the outcome that comes with it because Jigen usually hides how touch starved he really is) the need for sex is often a driving force between the pair. It’s why he often goes to her for "companionship"  when he’s drunk. Because, as shocking as it is for him, he had found something he finds fun, entertaining. In fact it revitalizes him, entices him, he finds that he enjoys it and it's strange because he never thought he would, especially with a woman like Fujiko, because it's also strange to him how quickly he fell into Lupin's role in the group
even down to his preference in partners.
Since red is the color of blood, it has historically been associated with sacrifice, danger, and courage. Modern surveys in Europe and the United States also often show that  red is also the color most commonly associated with heat, activity, passion, sexuality, anger, love, and joy. All emotions Jigen knows well and is slowly getting to know.
And it's not just the colors that often hold symbolism. Since their creation, cufflinks and lapel-pins have been seen as a symbol of status for gentlemen with luxury gold and gemstone cufflinks seen as a symbol of wealth, power and reputation, while Lapel pins are frequently used as symbols of achievement and belonging. While not shown directly on the reference sheet, Jigen does happen to wear and own two
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In addition to being the Lupin Family Flower, The lupine flower stands for imagination, admiration, and overall happiness. Whether given as a gift or grown in your garden, the lupin brings the energy of inner strength to recover from trauma.
For Jigen it often fits all too well. But while he is not versed in the language of flowers like his partner might just be, he knows deep down that the flower means something to him. Ever since he was younger, the Lupin family, often consisting of just Lupin’s Grandpa and Lupin himself but now extending to the mains and servant’s, had been more of a family to him than even his own. The stability, while crazed and dangerous, was something that he had come to love and enjoy.
Jigen pledging his loyalty to Arsène the First, thus essentially pledging his loyalty to the entire Lupin family, was something that he never thought he would ever do again since leaving the Mafia life behind him for good. But Issei had become almost a father figure to him, let alone someone who had earned his loyalty and his admiration. And following Jigens official pledge to the Lupin Family, he has always keep on him a little piece of Lupin and the new life he was given in the form of a Lupine Flower Pin. He never wore it, but after everything that had happened during the events of LJS, he figured now would be the best time.
The Pin always stays on his Lapel, close to his heart no matter what, where it will always stay.
Tumblr media
Jigen’s third and “secret” palette is often used as a joke palette in a way, but is also just another I've grown to love.
Essentially, I had come across this palette in a Discord server I am in
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And naturally I had fallen in love with it. It had part 4 vibes but gloomy and tired and somewhat sad which seemingly worked very well. Lupin's design in LJS IS his Part 4 design but tweaked. Of course since the palette felt right I decided to give it to Jigen as sort of a “party” outfit; one that he often uses when he goes out with Fujiko, or for special occasions!
But then a friend had pointed out that Zenigata got the jigen palette in the picture set, with the blue vest and orange undershirt and green tie, and I thought of course it was funny. . . Until I realized that this image also exists
Tumblr media
Which fits because Jigzeni, or as we lovingly refer to the ship as Hattrick, is a ship found in LJS
It seems Zeni can’t stop stealing the gunman’s clothes How they fit him we will never know

Pairing(s): Kambe Daisuke x Gender Neutral!Reader
Genre(s): Fluff, pining(?), love at first sight trope
I’d be happy to write for Balance Unlimited! I’m still getting a hand on Daisuke’s character, so this might be OOC, but I’ll try my best!
Also, you are slightly shorter than Daisuke in this. He does wear shoe inserts that make him roughly 5’7”.
__________________________________________________________________________
You saw him at a convention. No, not like ComicCon, but a gala, or rather a business function. He rolled up in a Chevy Corvette and stepped out, handing the keys off to the valet and buttoning the front of his pitch-black tuxedo suitcoat.
He was handsome, with slicked-back dark hair and mysterious eyes hidden behind sunglasses. And… did he have a pierced ear? Even more attractive.
He had a woman next to him who had stepped out of the passenger side of the sports car. She was dressed in a sleek black dress and long black hair styled in an intricate updo. They looked alike, close enough to be related. You adjusted the hem of your own blazer and turned to grab a glass of champagne.
There was no point in fantasizing over the unattainable.
He was way out of your league anyway.
You join in on the dancing, spinning away with dance partners as the hours pass, and you search for an opening. However, a wrench in your plans is apparent when you are twirled into the arms of the handsome young man you had spotted earlier.
He’s even more handsome up close, and you can smell his expensive cologne. His sunglasses are nowhere to be found, probably folded away inside the inside pocket of his tux.
But that’s not what throws a wrench in your plans. Instead, it’s the moment you meet his eyes. They’re a steely blueish-gray and all the more alluring. Fireworks erupt in your belly, and you almost trip over your feet. However, you are quick to recover without him noticing.
You knew this feeling. It was the feeling of falling in love. You had felt it before, with your first love, who has long gone and left with your heart in pieces. It had taken years to heal yourself, and now you were scared of it breaking again. You couldn’t fall in love! You simply couldn’t!
But as you watch the man’s eyes widen almost inconspicuously, you realize he feels it too and quickly decide to break this off.
“Sorry, I’ve forgotten something.” You quickly excuse yourself and head toward a side door. But, before you shut the door behind you, you look behind and catch his gaze once again. The door hurriedly closes behind you, and you are locked in a dead sprint.
It doesn’t take long to find the host’s computer. But someone is already there. The woman who was with the man earlier (you really had to learn their names, this was getting exhausting). She was bent over a keyboard, tapping rapidly and lines of code appeared across the screen. The lights were off, save for the computer monitors (obviously), so you were bathed in blue light.
The door slams shut behind you, and you jump, the woman does as well, turning, and her gaze flashes with surprise as you meet her eyes. Then you whip around to see who had shut the door, and you spot the man.
He’s as good-looking as ever. That’s the infuriating part.
“Do you have what you need?” His voice is deep, alluring, and smooth as honey. Damn it. He just keeps getting more attractive. But never mind that you have things to focus on! The woman unplugs and tosses a flash drive stick to him that he catches without looking. His eyes are trained on you as he slips it into his inside tuxedo pocket.
“Just who are you?” You say, portraying an air of confidence. After all, you might as well put on a show, right? Throw them off your tracks, and don’t let them see how nervous you are, right?
“Kambe Daisuke. Who are you?” He says—more like demands—and you oblige. Equivalent exchange is polite, right? There’s no need to be rude. He says your name, and you shiver at the sound of it coming from his mouth. It sounded so sexy you couldn’t help but want to hear more.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Daisuke, but I must be going now, so if you’ll excuse me—” His hand catches your wrist and yanks you back as you try to leave. You stumble, looking up into his eyes as your noses brush.
Your lips brush the corner of his own, and you are slipping away before he even registers what’s happening. His eyes are wide and uncharacteristically shocked. The woman behind you chokes on her own saliva as she stands, shocked.
You’re gone before he realizes the flash drive is gone. You twirl it between your fingers, slip it into your inside pocket, and sprint down the hall. Finally, you make it to your car and peel out of the gala roundabout just as he bursts through the doors.
His eyes are locked on your disappearing vehicle the entire time.
Mission accomplished.

DIABOLIK LOVERS Para-Selene Vol.5 Sakamaki Laito Animate Tokuten CD
Tumblr media
Original title: DIABOLIK LOVERS Para-Selene Vol. 5 逆巻ライト アニメイト 各巻購入特典ドラ
Source: Diabolik Lovers Para-Selene Vol. 5 Animate Tokuten CD
Audio: Here
Seiyuu: Hirakawa Daisuke
Translator’s note: Bowling master Laito kind of threw me for a loop, but it also makes sense? Like he strikes me as the type of guy who would be unexpected skilled at a bunch of random things. In general, I’ve been really enjoying these ‘date scenario’ CDs. They actually did a good job making every one of them unique and choosing fun locations for each boy. I know the chances of us getting another DL anime are really slim, but if they do decide to make one, I really hope it’s not a season 3 based on DF or LE but a bunch of OVAs instead based on the drama CDs.
“...What’s this? There’s quite a lot of people here despite it being so late at night. I guess bowling is pretty popular. I thought I’d be able to do all sorts of fun things with my Bitch-chan, such a shame! ーー Ah! Our lane is over here. Ah! Check out the monitor over there! It actually displays our names as ‘Laito’ and ‘Bitch’! I love your name. It really stands out amongst the others! I would have loved to be able to input ‘Bitch-chan’ instead, honestly. I felt pretty bummed when they told me that I could only input up to five characters. Right, Bitch-chan?”
You frown.
“...? You’ve been quiet this whole time. What’s wrong? Did you want me to add the ‘-chan’ as well?”
You shake your head.
“Then what’s the matter?”
You complain about him wanting to come here.
“Eeh~? Is it really that strange? Even I feel like playing a game of bowling every now and then. There’s no ulterior motive behind it!”
You squint your eyes.
“Oh dear. You’re still suspicious of me? ...Fine. I’ll fess up the truth. ーー We actually gave here today because I wanted to do you a favor.”
You tilt your head to the side.
“Mmh. We’re usually active at night, so most places where high schoolers like to hang out are closed by that hour, no? So we’re limited in the things we can do, right? Well, you might be fine with that, but you’re still a blossoming high school girl, so I figured that you might fantasize about the kind of cute dates depicted in shoujo manga and such. ーー I thought it wouldn’t hurt to go on a typical high schoolers’ date for once, so I started looking around for places which are open 24/7, which brings us here today. How’s that? Do you understand now?”
You nod.
“Nfu~ I’m glad. With that misunderstanding lifted...Now that we’re here anyway, why don’t we get started? I’m up first, aren’t I? Let me think...Which ball should I pick? ーー Ah. This one will do.”
*Thud*
“It has the same color as your hair. I’ll throw it as hard as I can, imagining its your head instead~”
You protest.
“Nfu~ Oh come on, you may say that, but I know you’re happy deep down! You love to get pushed around by me, don’t you? ...Ah! When it’s your turn, why don’t you pick a ball in the same color as my hair? I don’t dislike the idea of being at your mercy either~”
You refuse.
“Geez...You’d be able to get so much more of of life if you just enjoy it as one of many fetishes. You’re so easily embarrassed. Fine. ...I’ll throw the ball, okay?”
Laito faces towards the lane.
“Let me think...I’m supposed to throw it leaning down...or from up top?
You seem surprised he has never bowled before.
“Eh!? Bitch-chan...Do you really think I’ve come to this sorta place before? Today’s obviously my first bowling experience!”
*Rustle*
“But don’t worry! Experience isn’t what matters...It’s all about chemistry...!”
Laito throws his ball.
*Clatter clatter*
“Huh? I knocked all of them over. Is this what you’d call a ‘strike’?”
You seem very impressed.
“...Nfu~ I got praised~ Anyway, is this really so amazing?”
You nod.
“Heeh...I wonder if I am a natural at bowling? Control is key, so it might be the perfect game some someone who is very technique-minded such as myself. In that case, I’m quite curious what you are capable of, Bitch-chan~”
You frown.
“Now, now, no need to be so modest. Show me what you’re made of. Go give it a shot! ...Nfu~ I’m very much looking forward to this.”
You walk towards the lane.
“Break a leg, Bitch-chan~! Throw it with everything you’ve got!”
You throw the ball.
*Thud thud*
“Nfu~ Ah-ahー I guess the excitement ended up being her downfall. What a shame. ...They call this a ‘gutter’, don’t they? I can’t believe you didn’t even manage to knock over one of them. ...Ah, come on. One more try, no?”
*Thud*
You try once more.
*THUD*
“Ahー You really suck at this, don’t you?”
You seem disappointed.
“No need to be so sad. My strike might have been just a fluke. I’ll go next, so watch me, okay?”
Laito walks up to the lane again.
“...Hah!”
*CLATTER*
“Aah~ I guess it wasn’t just beginner’s luck! I might have a knack for bowling after all! ...In that case, Bitch-chan, why don’t you come over here with your ball?”
You pick up your ball and approach him.
“Okay! Let’s practice how to hold the ball!”
*Rustle*
“Geez, no need to be so surprised. We came here to treat you to a good time today, so I’ll teach you very gently~ Come on, hold the ball.”
*Rustle*
“Hmー That won’t do.”
*Rustle rustle*
“You need to stretch your arm a little more.”
You try to scoot away from him, asking why he is touching you.
“What are you saying? I’m fixing your posture! I think I proved earlier that my bowling skills far exceed yours, so don’t you think it’s in your best interest to take my advice?”
You frown.
“I mean, it’d be kind of difficult to tell you what to do without clinging to you like this, is it? I’m positive that it’d be so much easier to teach you good posture through direct touch!”
*Rustle*
“Come on, lean back against me and stand straight.”
*Rustle*
“Don’t move! You want to be able to throw the ball properly don’t you?”
You tell him to move away.
“How mean, telling me to back off! I’m only trying to show my good heart by teaching you! I mean, if you lose this duel against me, you’ll get punished, remember?”
You seem surprised by that.
“I mean, duh? Didn’t I tell you? All games have some kind of punishment game attached to it, don’t they? You have to expect those kind of things! By the way, now that you’ve already thrown once, you’re part of the game, so there’s no backing out~”
You ask him if he would punish you right here in public.
“Fufu~ Why would you ask that? ーー I get it. You’re curious about what this punishment would entail, aren’t you~? Were you perhaps hoping that I’d suck your blood~?”
You deny it.
“Nfu~ No point in trying to deny it~ I bet you imagined my fangs sinking deeply into your fair nape, didn’t you? Aah~ I suppose I have no other choice. That wasn’t the plan, but I’ll live up to your expectations and make the punishment something deliciously painful~ Please look forward to this punishment...which will turn both your body and soul to putty~”
You try to make a run for it.
*Rustle rustle*
“Ahaha~ Oh come on, hold up! I told you that there’s no way out, didn’t you? You better behave...or I’ll do it right here, right now.”
You immediately stop resisting.
“Nfu~ Good girl. Besides, there’s only a 50% chance that you’ll get punished, so just remember that you could always win and try to make the best out of it!”
You sigh in defeat.
“Well then, let’s continue your lesson. Now, where’s your spine?”
*Rustle*
“Nfu~ Found it~ Mm~
*Rustle rustle*
“What are you saying? I’m helping you straighten your back! By tracing my fingers across your spine like this...See? You pushed out your chest which improved your stance! Try to hold this proper posture, okay?”
You ask him if he knows what hte proper posture for bowling is.
“Eh? No idea! How am I supposed to know what is the ‘right posture’ for bowling when I’m still a newbie at the game myself.”
You ask him what he has been teaching you then.
“You’re just so terrible at this, I’ve just been giving you random points and then it was up to you whether or not you’d take my words for granted. ...Anyway, ahaha~ They’re really hard to miss when you’re standing looking straight ahead like that.”
You tilt your head to side.
“Over here. These bite marks on・your・neck~”
You squeak.
“They’re the proof of the love we share with each other every night~ It’s too bad you can’t really see them unless you move this close. I promise I’ll make them stand out even more by biting you nice and hard when we get back home, so rest assured~”
You complain.
“You’re adorable when you pretend to dislike something. However, no losing on purpose because you want to get bitten ,okay?”
You insist that you would never do that.
“I wonder~? You’re a naughty girl who seduces other by feigning discomfort. You want me to completely overpower you, run away with the victory and inflict pain upon you as a result, don’t you? And then you’d try to play innocent by saying ‘Oh I don’t actually want this, but it can’t be helped because I lost the game~', won’t you? ...Sure. Two can play that game. I like that sort of thing as well after all. I’ll make sure to slowly drive you into a corner...and then tease the living hell out・of・you~”
Your cheeks grow hot.
“Oh? What’s wrong? ...Nfu~ You’re flustered, aren’t you? Oh come, you are so shy~ ...Anyway, let’s get this game going! Try throwing the ball following my tips from earlier.”
You nod and throw the ball.
*CLATTER CLATTER*
“Wow~ You actually knocked them all over! I’m shocked!”
You rejoice.
“Nfu~ Congratulations, Bitch-chan. Judging from your sheer excitement, could it be that this is the first time you’ve ever hit a strike?”
You nod.
“Mmh, mmh~ I’m happy for you! In that case, why don’t we end on a positive note and wrap up the match right here? It’s obvious you’ll lose after all.”
You protest.
“I mean, even if continue to bowl one strike after the other now, you already threw a gutter once, so you have no chance at getting ahead of me.There’s no way I’d give away the win now.”
You shake your head.
“Ah~ We can keep going until I have a slip-up if you want, but in return, your punishment will get more and more severe, the longer the game lasts. I believe you’d be much better off admitting defeat right now and simply heading home with me.
I’m fine with either scenario. We’re here on a date today for you after all. You can choose whether you want to call it a day right now and quickly get your punishment, or if you’d rather have me tend to you thoroughly after I’ve messed with you a little longer.”
You call him out on being unreasonable.
“Nfu~ Exactly. I might be messed up. But you love this crazy guy, don’t you? In which case, you have no other choice but to play along with me and slowly become insane as well.”
You sigh.
“Fufu~ Since you sighed in defeat, does that mean you’ve made your choice?”
You choose to go home.
“Nfu~ Sure. As you wish. Well then...Shall we head home, Bitch-chan~? I’ll treat you to plenty of the good stuff which you love oh-so much~”

00:00 Yuma: Ah, the soil is bone-dry. This’s awful… Only proves how much power the man really had. It’s turned pretty much everything into a desert…
[You walk up to Yuma.]
Yuma: Oh, it’s you. What’s up?
[You say that you wanted to see how Yuma was doing.]
Yuma: Aren’t you tired?
[You tell him honestly.]
Yuma: Heh. Figures. We’re in the same boat. Well, about this… The soil’s so bad here that even if you properly take care of the garden ‘n try to grow somethin’, only desert vegetation could survive here. The soil’s pretty much dead. I actually wanted to try growin’ those seedlings over there, but I gave up.
[Yuma sits down on the ground.]
Yuma: Ah… And the garden was thrivin’ only a little while ago.
[You ask him whether it has to do with Karl Heinz’ death.]
Yuma: Well, yeah. This castle was like an extension of Himself. I know I pledged my allegiance to protect this place earlier, but I’m already feelin’ anxious. Relyin’ too much on a parent ends up bitin’ you in the ass after all.
[You pick up some gardening tools.]
Yuma: What’re you doin’? I just told you, the soil’s done for.
[You quote what Azusa and Ruki were saying earlier.]
Yuma: Heh. Hahaha! Well, you’re right. Can’t knock it ‘til you try it.
[Yuma joins you to till the soil and plant the seedling.]
01:57 Yuma: Thanks. It’s not like me to be all gloomy and pessimistic. ‘N to have you worry about me.  Alright. Now we just pour some water on it.
[You were going through the soil with your hands, but you end up cutting your finger.]
Yuma: What’s wrong? Oh. Ah, there’s broken shards of something in the soil. C’mere.
[Yuma pulls you with him to the sink to clean the wound.]
Yuma: This is Eden soil, so there aren’t any weird bacteria here, but… Underestimating these things won’t do us any good. Well, this should be clean enough. And lastly—
[Yuma puts your wounded finger into his mouth.]
Yuma: Your blood’s really sweet. Heh. I don’t think I could ever get enough of it. I want more. You owe me now, anyway. I won’t let you say no.
[Yuma bites you.]
Yuma: It’s your fault for having such delicious blood. I’m not of much help, am I? I only just healed your wound, ‘n now I’m hurtin’ you again. Heh. Thanks for the blood.
[Yuma pulls away from you.]
Yuma: Agh… I’m getting sleepy. I’m goin’ back to my room. Sleep tight. And thanks for the help.
[Yuma walks off. Some time passes, and the scene shifts to Ruki bursting into your room while you were sleeping.]
03:58 Ruki: Eve!
[You sit upright.]
Ruki: I’m sorry to bother you while you were resting, but there’s no time. I need you to be quiet and come with me.
[You walk over to Ruki. He grabs your hand.]
Ruki: We need to hurry. I don’t have time to explain. Let’s go!
[The two of you run off.]
Ruki: Just now, I received word from a familiar that the Vibora are heading towards Eden. They must be looking to conquer this castle or to destroy the morale of the Vampire race. It took them long enough, and yet this is still quite sudden to us.
In any case, you need to hide. Aside from this castle, they must intend to capture you as well.
[You’re surprised and ask him why.]
Ruki: Word is spreading fast about the Adam’s Apple Plan. Everyone now knows that Karl Heinz has recognised you as the Sacrificial Bride of the Demon World. Some want to use you to ascend to the throne.
[You tell him you would never agree to such a thing.]
Ruki: I know that, but so long as that extraordinary blood runs through your veins, nothing else will matter to them.
[The two of you stop before a large door.]
Ruki: Alright. This is it.
[Ruki opens the door for you.]
Ruki: Get inside.
[The door slams closed.]
Ruki: This is the Room of Time. You could see it as Karl Heinz’ living room, in a sense. This is the most secure room he had, located in the innermost part of the castle. You should lay low here while the commotion subsides. The rest of us will fight to protect Eden, like we discussed yesterday.
[You ask Ruki if they have any forces backing them up.]
06:12 Ruki: Not at all. It’s just the four of us. Not even the Sakamaki family knows what has become of this castle.
[You ask Ruki if there’s anything you can do.]
Ruki: All you can do is stay here, We have no reason to fight out there if we don’t know that you’re safe. Heh. Don’t look at me like that.
[Ruki suddenly pulls you into an embrace.]
Ruki: You were about to start whining. I know. Let me hold you. Just for a moment. I can’t let my brothers see me like this, after all.
[You stroke Ruki’s back.]
Ruki: Heh. Stop it. I’m not a child. It feels quite nice, though. Don’t tell the others, alright? Take this as a sign of my gratitude.
[Ruki bites you. It takes you off-guard.]
Ruki: Don’t act so surprised. This is more of a reward to you than anything else, after all.
[Ruki bites you again.]
Ruki: Ah… That’s enough playing around for now. I have to go back. You know what to do, right? Don’t leave this room under any circumstance. When things calm down outside, I’ll knock on the door four times. That’s when you can come back out. I’ll see you then.
[Ruki walks to the door and opens it.]
Ruki: Goodbye, Eve.
[Ruki closes the door behind him, leaving you all alone. The scene shifts to the brothers’ inner monologues.]
08:50 Ruki: Just like that, we went to meet an unknown fate.
Kou: I wonder if He expected things would turn out like this. However, we strongly believe this isn’t a trial that we can’t overcome.
Yuma: We’ll protect Eden… and we’ll protect Eve. In the end, we probably won’t be able to obtain the Apple, but…
Azusa: Still… we have no choice but to move forward.
Ruki: As we dreamt of a new dawn breaking from the East of Eden, the next chapter in our lives silently began. Nobody knows what’s waiting for us on the other side of this fight.

TickleTober2023/Day 17 - Closet
Fugō Keiji Balance: Unlimited - Daisuke x Haru
Tumblr media
Haru busted inside the room, looking around in panic as he searched for a place to hide inside that stupidly large room. His heart was beating fast, the blood rushing through his veins was making it hard to think properly. Yet, for some reason, he couldn’t stop himself from smiling in excitement.
Among the options he had - under the bed, behind the curtains or inside the closet - Haru decided for the latter. It was easy for him to hide himself thanks to how big Daisuke’s room’s furniture was.
Closing the door just enough to keep himself hidden, Haru watched the room through a small crack as he heard the noises of the door opening again and, with it, Daisuke’s footsteps. “Where are you, you bratty idiot?” Daisuke hissed, scanning his bedroom with as much care he put up in his investigations.
“Do you think you can run from me, Haru?” The millionaire detective continued, starting to slowly walk around the place, looking for signs of Haru-activity. It wasn’t really hard to track and, soon, he started narrowing down the possibilities.
Inside the closet, Haru slapped one hand over his lips, trying to make his uneven breathing more quiet, while carefully following Daisuke with his eyes, spying him through the small crack.
Daisuke tilted his head, catching a glance of the space underneath his bed and, no, Haru wasn’t there. “I was in the middle of an important meeting… Do you think it’s funny to tickle me out of the blue like that and just run away?” He continued his monologue, walking towards the curtains.
Without a bit of hesitation, Daisuke pushed the curtains open, letting the daylight invade his bedroom to find… no one hiding behind them. “You should know already that I don’t let this kind of behavior go unpunished, but maybe…”
Daisuke stopped, turning his head towards the closet and letting a small grin take place on his lips. “That’s what you were looking for? To be punished…”
Haru widened his eyes, quickly moving his head away from the crack and praying that Daisuke didn’t hear him gasping. He pressed his eyes shut, hearing the footsteps getting closer… closer… closer…
But, just when he thought he was going to get in, he heard the sound of the door opening again and Daisuke was nowhere to be seen. Wait, did he just leave?
Finally relaxing a bit, Haru tried to catch any noise that could come from the outside, but, even so, there was nothing. Almost as if… he was actually alone in the room.
“Found you.”
Daisuke’s stern voice suddenly warned him before both of the closet’s doors opened. Haru couldn’t help but let out a small squeal of surprise, scared as he was caught red handed. And, then, laughter.
“D-DahAHAhaisuke!! AhaAHAh, w-wahait! LehEHehet me gohOHO!!”
“So you can run away again?” Daisuke grinned, trapping Haru against the closet, among a dozen jackets and coats that were hanging over them, “not a chance, Haru.” He teased, savoring each and every second of that sweet revenge.

It has recently come to light that my deepest, darkest (Digimon) fandom secret is that I didn’t always ship Taito, and @hazelestelle was kind/curious enough to ask the following question in that shipping ask game:
18. A ship you never thought you would ship but do.
Buckle up, kids, because it’s time for a (long) trip down memory lane.
The year is 2002, and after about a year of exploring the internet via small guestbooks and messaging boards, someone finally pointed me towards the central German anime site. And while I think I had seen a couple of people publishing their own stories online and had written one or two myself, I hadn’t realized before that the concept of fanfic was a whole thing, let alone how much of it there was out there.
I also didn’t know yet that you could properly ship things that aren’t canon. Back then, I thought Yamto and Sora were really cute together (probably I mostly thought Yamato was the coolest person ever and was using Sora to heavily project onto), and apparently so did other people, because I easily found and read quite a few stories about them.
Now what you have to remember is that tags or any kind of useful sorting system just wasn’t a thing back then, which is how I ended up with a sliiightly different story, but I didn’t know that yet.
The fic was labeled with all kinds of warning – but I had absolutely no idea what any of those words meant. I’d only just discovered that Taichi and Yamato were Tai and Matt’s Japanese/actual names and just figured “Taito” and “Yamachi” were other (nick)names for them, and since it was popular to just throw random Japanese words into your fic at the time, and half of the time people didn't even use them right, I didn’t bother to look up what “Shounen-Ai” and “Yaoi” meant.
So I had no idea what I was getting into when I started reading, and after a couple of chapters I might have found it a bit weird that Sora was so little in it, but apparently I’ve also always enjoyed a good slow-burn, so I kept on reading. I don’t even remember when I realized that there was something going on between Yamato and Taichi, but I do remember that I was fascinated, and that I couldn’t stop reading, especially once it became obvious/something actually happened between them.
(Why do I care so much about queer people, says queer person years before she figures out she’s queer herself, etc.)
Anyways, the story was long (and my internet time limited), so it took days, if not weeks of surreal summer evenings until I was done, but I read the whole thing.
And for whatever reason… I took this as my sign to start shipping Daisuke and Ken (and a variety of DBZ characters). XD
I’ve absolutely no idea why that was what I took away from the whole thing, it’s not even that I disliked the ship (yet), I always kind of understood why people were shipping them, maybe it was simply because Digimon 02 was much more present in my mind than the first season at the time?
But then I started looking for Daisuke/Ken stories (again, without a lot of help from the websites themselves), and it was an absolute nightmare.
You simply couldn’t find anything that didn’t have Yamato/Taichi as the main ship instead, that didn’t feature them as the reason Daisuke and Ken were figuring themselves out, or didn’t have them as the “older, wiser” couple at least one of them went to for advice, and I was steadily growing more and more annoyed by them.
And it was like this for years. I think it got even worse (Adventure, and thus Yamato/Taichi, has always been more popular than any of the 02 characters, and even more so after they lost their momentum).
They just were everywhere, in every goddamn fic, no matter what other pairing you were actually looking for. I was once reading some football RPS, and when the guys in that story were listening to the radio, the host mentioned someone had called in and asked to play the previous song, from Yamato to Taichi (or the other way round) – you can’t even make that shit up.
At this point they just annoyed me so much that I made a point of not shipping them, and I think I’d also reached a point where I was a bit tired of the whole “they’re rivals/always beating each other up, so they obviously are in love” trope.
I also discovered Taichi/Koushiro (which I still think is an amazing ship that at least the German fandom has always been completely sleeping on), so I had even more reason to not ship Yamato/Taichi.
And I honestly think it would always have been this way, but then tri. happened. And hit me with full force. Because they were older, and somewhat calmer/less aggressive around each other, but still very much themselves, and most of all so blatantly obvious.
I was still in denial during most of part 1, but I already knew when Mimi shoved them into a Ferris wheel cabin and declared the group had brought them together that I was fighting a losing battle, and by part 2 with the entire onsen visit and the bickering afterwards, it was over.
Look. I get it. They’re really it. They work so well together, there’s so much there, they’re the blueprint for so many anime ships, they give me way too many feelings. (Help.)
I still don’t really ship them pre!tri., though. Partly probably because of my history with the ship, but also because I like their dynamic so much better now, and because I simply like the idea of people getting together later in life, or at the very least after they’ve at least finished high school.
TL;DR: I never, ever thought I’d fall into Taito hell, and yet here I am, in the year 2k24, absolutely obsessed with them once again. Thank you, Digimon, you’re the gift that keeps on giving.
