Have you looked at web toons? There's a few there that are....odd and/orromance focused like:

Eggnoid - girl finds a man who hatched from an egg. Romance

Ecstasy Hearts - girl is in a toxic relationship with a guy who has split personalities

Let's Play - girl game designer gets upset about a popular lets player saying her game is awful, and it turns out he's her neighbor.

I've got to take a look at the each of the suggestions. WEBTOONS is basically the modern Smackjeeves and thus is a potential goldmine for obscure crappy webcomics, and I would love to riff terrible romance.

Also I've seen through that list many times, it's relatively unchanged after so many years.

Hong Jae Yeol from Lookism has selective mutism or is outright mute (selective mutism is a pretty bad name honestly, as we do not really chose to be... D:, but anyway he hasn't said a single word in the web toon yet with no explanation as to why, unless it was said in a Korean interview or something, but anyway, there has been times it seems like he's about to talk just to get distracted and not do it after all)

According to the Selective Mutism Association  the term use to be elective mustism but was change to clear up that the mutism was not a choice. 

“The name change from “elective” to “selective mutism” in DSM-IV deemphasized the oppositional behavior connotation that a child elected not to speak and rather emphasized the characteristic of the disorder, that there are select environments in which speaking does not occur”
