I saw a post about this and now I’m curious…
It can sometimes take a lot of searching to find a specific dress listing that’s not missing the sleeves or neckties… but it can also be hard to keep track of those parts in your closet!
Detachable parts such as waist ties, sleeves, neck ties, pin-on bows, brooches, ribbon ties, collars, overskirts, etc. If you bought something as a special set (ex: JSK and hair bow that were only sold as a set, not separately) and then lost part of the set, feel free to also mark yourself as ‘yes’. If you bought it with the pieces already missing, that does not count unless you yourself then also lost more pieces.
I’m also curious what people’s thoughts/practices are on storage of detachable pieces- I have a friend who stores all waist ties separately in a special drawer, whereas I keep them attached to the dresses, but often end up storing detachable bows in their own box. What do you guys do?

[Time: the end of the Halloween party, most characters returned to their original selves, but Will is stuck being half-niffler.]
"What a day, eh?" Will breathes out as he plops down onto a couch next to Monty.
The ballroom has mostly emptied out, the lazy trickle of students heading for their beds as the Halloween night turned into early morning. Will leans onto Andrew, breathing in steadily, and then decides that it's not enough and turns his whole body to melt into Andrew's strong chest temporarily. Well, almost: Nilliam's beak doesn't let him fully bury his face into Monty. But no beak stops his Ravenclaw from pressing a kiss into Will's hair and gently playing with the curly strands.
"So much work for my eager fox," comes a chuckle.
"What about you, Dr. Montrose?" teased Will. "I won't be surprised if you're as tired as I am."
And for Will it is a good kind of tired. Accomplished tiredness after a job well done. He and the other organizers plan to clean up some parts of the room before retiring as well but for a moment it feels good to just sprawl on the couch to rest. Will hides his hands on the inside of Andrrew's jacket for warmth and closeness. A few heartbeats later Will hears a slightly confused Andrew calling his name.
"Yes, love?" murmurs Will, a little distracted because something somewhere in Andrew's pockets smells rather delightful.
"My pocket watch."
"Mm? What about it?"
"…"
Will leans up just a bit to look at Andrew's face and, following his gaze, to stare in surprise at his own claw: it is, indeed, clutching Andrew's pocket watch. Will looks at it as if it's not his own hand.
"Oh. I don't remember when I did that, I—"
For some reason, without meaning to, Will brings the watch to his mouth and gives it a good nibble. The action shakes him to the core and with a gasp he drops the watch onto Andrew's chest.
"Merlin."
"Will, what on Earth—"
"I have no idea!"
Will sits up straight. He doesn't have time to really acknowledge what's happening (and why the exquisite metal looked, smelled, and tasted so good) when Elland comes up to the pair looking rather puzzled. For a moment Will freaks out that his puff friend has seen what happened.
"Hey, have you two seen my signet ring by any chance? Silver, small enough for a pinky and with a phoenix engraving? I can't seem to find it."
"Where and when have you seen it last?" Will asks after a pause, switching gears. He isn't ready to formulate any hypothesis regarding the watch Monty is now carefully examining on the subject of bite marks.
"Right before I wished you a good night? We hugged it out, and I stopped by the snack stand on my way out and realized that it's missing," Elland replies, casting Lumos and looking around on the floor.
"And you didn't come in contact with anybody in between?" Will asks and starts following Elland's lead until something, a vague memory, clicks in his mind.
The Slytherin reaches into his pockets and…
"Oh, Merlin's balls," he whispers quietly but loud enough for both Elland and Andrew to hear and look up at him in surprise, and then astonishment, for Will pulled out the very thing Elland was looking for.
"Was that…" Elland begins.
"…in your pocket the entire time?" finishes Andrew.
"And not only that," adds William with horror in his voice. Out of his pocket comes an expensive-looking pen, multiple pairs of cufflinks, a few Galleons and a single earring. Will looks at the boys like he's been accused of a crime he didn't commit.
"I don't recall any of those items. Merlin's beard," Will bends down and covers his head with his hands. "I'm a thief!"
Somewhere on the other side of the room Cassandra lets out a loud snort, even if she's too far to truly eavesdrop on the conversation.
"I thought you dressed as a niffler, Abbott? Although, knowing Sallow's little rascal..."
Will snaps his head in Cassandra's general direction, ready to retort something about her lack of comprehension skills, but the Hufflepuff physically makes Will turn his head away from the Head Girl's provocation.
"Will, I'm sure there's a logical explanation," his friend says gently and Will nearly feels like sobbing. "If I may, my ring?"
"Oh, yes, right, I'm so sorry, Els, I don't know what came over me," Will tries to laugh and stretches the hand with the ring out. When Elland goes to take it, Will suddenly draws his hand back.
"Uh, sorry, I don't know why—"
Will tries again and only with a lot of self-control and some sweating does he manage to let go of the shiny trinket. Andrew observes this curiously and suddenly bursts into laughter.
"What?" the other boys question. Will feels the tears welling up in his eyes. This day keeps getting worse and worse, what did he do to deserve this!
"The watch! The ring! Will!" Andrew tries to calm down between each exclamation, knowing that the laugh would upset Will even more, but the answer is sitting right in front of them! Andrew leans towards Will to smooch his beak and give his boy a hug. "Sorry, sorry. But…"
Elland observes them, and then it clicks for him as well. He chuckles, puts his ring back on, and joins the hug with a soft "Oh, Will. The answer is right under your beak."
"What?" echoes Will. Frowns. And then groans with a frustrated "Merlin's ass!"
[Written with @ask-andrew-montrose permission 💚]
[Context: since we don't know how deep Hermione's transformation went in the second book, Will having the Polyjuice potion with Nosy's fur changed not only his appearance, but also behaviour. He now has some of Nosy's niffler senses and really likes the shiny objects]
[Also my boys rarely swears! I think it's the most swears he's said in the ENTIRETY of my rp of him hahah]

-- Poorly Constructed Enchanted Tool --
A small tool carved from a fruit tree seed. Energy to power the enchantment has seemingly run-out long ago, and the method of recharging is unknown - but, based on the appearance, it's very likely that this was once used for detecting magic. Usually, looking through the glass center would highlight areas of higher magical energy concentration present in the viewer's environment, even if they were otherwise obscured to the naked eye. While this form of enchantment itself is highly advanced, the craftsmanship of the item is far less neat or complex than what might be typically seen in similar devices. It may have been made as part of training/practice, or as a hasty replacement for a previous tool that had broken.
#written from the perspective of some fantasy traveler who checks all of the local thrift-stores and lost & found places for every#town they visit - looking for interesting items and documenting them or something#In reality - just another one of my goofy little avocado pit carvings lol. Still working on inlaying little stones in them and stuff#I don't really have the tools to make super intricate stuff but doing little plain swirly patterns is still fine enough lol.#WORKING ON NEW POLL ADVENTURE also I know I know it's been months.. I have been Busy and struck by the evils of summer#But like I mentioned in the previous one I do want to at LEAST finish the quest with the egg lol#ANYWAY.#Things like this would plausibly exist in Nanyevimi (my fantasy world) but wouldn't be very common as - like mentioned- this would be an#extremely advanced enchantment. REALLY advanced mages could sense magic around them (to varying degrees of pinpoint accuracy of location#) without even having to use any external device. But for a majority of people there's really no way to know someone is using magic near#you unless you either see visual proof or if it's strong enough to feel effects from it (since magic is kind of like radiation in that the#higher energy/more of it youre exposed to the more it damages you/can make you sick/etc.) and even then most people would just be like#'hmm why do I feel so nauseous and bad out of nowhere?' likely wouldn't directly think to link it to magic. Thus the only really reliable w#way isto just hone your senses over like 500 years as you become an expert mage - OR use enchantments like these. But a 'sense magic' encha#ntment is not as common as a just 'magic is not allowed here' enchantment. If you wanted to prevent magic from being usedin a space#it's easier to just put up a broad barrier enchantment around that space than to have some sort of Magic Sensor to pick out if it's being#done and then handle each individual case of it . etc. etc. These sort of things can have their uses (especially for people investigating#things or trying to be secretive about detecting something etc.) but are less common - especially in this form (where visuals are used. itd#be more likely to jsut have like 'piece of metal that gets warm or cool depending on magic nearby'.) ANWAY so this is why it's a notable#object. Though a majority of the realm is not very magic literate - if you were a researcher or a mage and found this at a pawn shop you'd#definitely be like 'oohhh!! :0 inch resting... ' if not you might just be like 'oh cool necklace!' lol#also love the quick 2min ''costume'' for the image of it being used. literally just 'wrap yourself in scarves from the waist up' and slap o#a wig and ears lol#on this blog I guess since it's worldbuilding related and technically art.. maybe more like crafting? I should have a crafts tag lol.. hmm

Noticing that Im starting to desperately cling to things from my childhood and trying to remember what it was like to be a child.
Part of it is wanting to be a better person- I was so much more selfless and ambitious as a child.
But I wonder how much of it is me actually processing grief over childhood issues and trying to get a sense of control over things that I didn't have control on back then

Hi guys, I know it’s a long shot to post on here, but I’m starting to get desperate. I lost my dear friend at T.F. Green airport, PVD yesterday. I have filed every report and called every number but I want to find as many ways to try and find her if I can. If you happen to know anything or have seen anything, please contact me. I miss her so much, she has been my life long friend and I can’t accept her being gone. She disappeared sometime between 5:30-6:30 pm EST yesterday, between gate 8 and 5. I appreciate any help, even just looking at her and thinking about her because she must be lonely right now.
