Comic recommendations?
Im looking for something with a more unique art style. Ur stuff is cool did you know anyone else?
Oh man, firstly, thanks! <3 I only just nailed it down this year and I'm loving it.
Secondly, in my short time in the webcomics scene, I've found a few cool comics here and there. I have some suggestions, but I'm not sure what you might mean by unique-so I went ahead and nabbed a few comics that stood out to me, or are on my reading list and are made in a different medium/different technique.
Starting with some Hiveworks under the cut, then going more niche/indie as the list goes on, as well as a sites where you can find some stuff you may like!
The Golden Boar is a comic I adore. The art has a pastel look to it that I really dig, and I LOVE the worldbuilding so far. I enjoy stories with non-humans as a basis for the world, so I was already sold by the cute horned people that live in the moonlit forest aspect-but I'm also a BIG fan of summoners and how they work in relation to the magic system of the world (hence Tovera's focus on summoners and people adjacent to non human beings), and the Golden Boar tackles that head on while also looking gorgeous and unique. It is ongoing right now.
Stand Still, Stand Silent is just eye-wateringly beautiful. I actually haven't started reading it BUT it's on my list. It goes into Norse mythology and the magic of language, which is my jam-HOWEVER, it's worth mentioning that if you have religious trauma, I would hold back from checking out the artist's newer work. She converted to Christianity a few years back (great! no problem!) but some of the phrasing she uses to describe her past work suggests a shift into a conservative kinda mindset. Of course, feel free to make your own conclusions about the creator, but I personally am choosing to binge this comic and ignore anything new she makes. It's been finished for a while now.
Saint for Rent has a gorgeous art style, and I've also been meaning to read it-but alas, my backlog is horrid, so I've laid off of it, PLUS it's on hiatus, which I KNOW will drive me crazy. You might dig it though, since it definitely stands out among its peers.
Witchy is a gorgeous comic with a magic system based on the historic link between witches and hair! I actually read all of it and it's a GREAT read, though the creator has expressed dissatisfaction with the magic system/hair system. UNFORTUNATELY it's on hiatus-BUT, at least 6 complete chapters are up to read, and the cliffhanger isn't too painful.
I'm getting a little woozy as I type this, so I'll leave it here, BUT if you wanna find more cool, unique comics, I suggest ComicAdNetwork and ComicFury. You can go through the genres and see if you can find something you like/that looks interesting! I hope this helped you find some new stuff to read!

SwapOut/Webcomic/Twitch PSA!
Hi everyone 👋🏻 Zk here >< or Cats, for older followers
So I've been getting back into doing SwapOut again, but I would like to appeal to everyone who reads and loves the comic. Much love to all of you who's still sticking around 🙏🏻💙 But something has also always been bothering me throughout this journey.
As many of us know, we artists do these comics for free (especially fan comics), starting them out of love and taking a LOT of time and energy out of our lives to continue making them.
And it's amazing how many of you come from translations or comic dubs on Youtube, which are also very well-done and take a lot of effort to make, much love to them too. There is a difference, however.
Monetization.
And I'm not asking for pity! I'm appealing for understanding.
Because some comic dubbers on Youtube are able to earn ad revenue from the videos they upload. From the beginning, we artists have given them the permission to dub our works. But we don't receive anything from it, nor do we usually charge them for using our art (against our better judgement).
We let them use our comic pages in their monetized videos for free. And occasionally these videos receive thousands and millions of views, which I imagine gives a decent amount of ad revenue, while the artists themselves don't usually earn anything from their own artwork, nor do we ever want to put it behind a paywall of any kind. (we like reading free comics too so don't worry x|)
... But doing full-colored comic pages for free eventually gets hard to sustain without any income from it, even more so when we need to give our time and energy to other jobs to earn money for a living instead. We legitimately keep going on our comics purely out of love. Truly, we would LOVE to do our own art for a living. There's things like Patreon but it's only feasible if we're also able to produce bonus content or show BTS, and only people willing to spend money for them can help us, and not readers who aren't able to.
And we understand that not everyone can afford to support us monetarily. And that's okay!
But if you love these comics and want to really help us to keep going, there ARE ways you can easily support us for free!
For example, affiliates on Twitch (like myself) are able to earn ad revenue very early on (they must have at least 50 followers, quite a requirement, but still easier to obtain than Youtube's 1000 subscribers).
(my Youtube, btw. not much rn but drop a subscribe?)
But simply put, if the vast majority of readers from the yt numbers visit and stay for ads on the artists' Twitch streams (remember to have adblocker disabled for the site, if any), they'll be making an actual, physical contribution to the artist themselves, at no cost whatsoever. We earn up to 55% from any ads that run on our stream, so the more viewers, the better!
(this is my twitch on average 8 viewers, with a 3 hour stream. again, the more the better!)
(ofc you can also buy subs to watch ad-free and supports me directly, but i'm typing all this to share the free ways people can support their fave creators ✨)
And even if that doesn't work out, I'd be happy enough to see most of you there 🙏🏻💙 I've been treating my streams as work, so I'm striving not to break the streak.
So drop a follow on my Twitch, and catch the streams when you can!
They're great if you need company or background noise, and also great for co-working~
Currently streaming WEEKLY,
Mondays, Wednesdays (SwapOut) and Saturdays, 10.30AM EST
(art by @cupcakepaints)
>> twitch.tv/zkcats <<
Anyway thanks for listening to my Ted talk, please share this around for others as well >< 🙏🏻 Artists, make this a reblog chain or something! Promo your stuff!
And apologies for the essay, I wasn't expecting to type this much sdghsgh this itself is not an ad for Twitch or whatev, I'm just a little frustrated with needing to juggle all this.
I was also considering hosting SwapOut somewhere that could get ad revenue, but I wasn't sure where until I realized I can probably earn that from my Tapas now (i think?? sdfhgh up to 70% ad revenue there but i haven't seen any yet) So maybe I'll post there a day earlier than here or something? We'll see. Go subscribe there! Check it out! Reread it! Help ME help YOU!
... Much appreciated ><

tellius week // finale
I think now that I've revisited Tellius in the last year I think it's a duology that's going to stay with me for the rest of my life. I originall y played it back in 2005 and then again in 2012, but I could never get very far in Radiant Dawn. I was having a lot ups and downs during my life back then, but after getting covid at the FFXIV fanfest (lol) I sat down and really played through them.. and have a new appreciation and love for them. I also love, love, love the boys a lot and think they deserve more fun things.
Thanks everyone who's been here with me seeing my hyperfixate. I still love my webcomic and bard boys, so I'll get back to drawing those soon (I'm laying out the next chapter of Solstoria rn!) but for now I'm having fun and that's all that matters to me.

prefacing this by saying its really funny to me that this has just become my main blog despite it being a sonic-centric sideblog. the tism
anyway i wanted to just gush a little abt life. loosely related to sonic but mostly just abt where my career and interests are going
ive like. always been passionate abt comics, at least making them. when i was way way way younger i wanted to have my own strip in the funnies in the newspaper. in high school i wanted to be a manga artist. i made my first completed webcomic in 2015 and finished in 2018. then i proceeded to make another webcomic with 222 pages so far (idk when thatll get finished fr but..still lol), and then another one with two chapters so far (again idk when itll be finished if ever), and now i have new game with two sequels planned.. and also now i wanna be an official idw sonic comic artist.
i dont have much in terms of coherent thoughts abt this rn but im just. bursting with happiness at the thought of working on official sonic comics. idk if i'll make it, but i dearly hope i will. literally my passion for sonic in addition to comics in general is making me feel like im going to pop (so like..cry a lot) and its all i can really think about anymore
i wanna keep making new game so bad, even the sequels. i wanna make other sonic comics. i wanna work on official sonic comics. i just. wanna make comics 😭😭😭 especially w sonic
if i had my druthers all of my aus would be made into comics but i think if im gonna go for idw i can only rly focus on new game for now unless i find that i have more time and energy to do more 9_9a i guess i dont have to make them into Full comics, i can do mini comics for parts i really wanna show as comic sequences, but still
rahhhh im rambling. i dont even know what this post is about anymore i just had to get words out of my body LOL my brain is so full of passion rn im going to explode

The mega ultra Starscream ref sheet! It's really helpful for me to just throw everything on the canvas in different layers and sometimes it ends up like this...
My story is taking place in the aligned continuities=ish with my own head cannons and actually limited knowledge of prime... basically it's just like a combination of all the things I think are iconic about Transformers. So Starscream has a lot of different designs in the story and this one is supposed to be the sort of G1 vers. I'm going to use for flashbacks. But in the actual Webcomic rn Starscream is going to be in his Rid (2016) design.
Disclamer: cuz this is a ref sheet I'm obviously taking and reworking a lot of content that isn't mine. Like the pose the seekers are in is ripped directly from some earthspark screenshot of Skywarp becouse when I started designing all of them I kind of wanted it to look like that design and its just been easiest to use the pose she was in.
This is just a vomit sketch page and I just think it looks cool.
Let me know if anyone has any ideas on how to improve this design. :)!
