He was born in Paris in 1862, and at the age of thirteen, he exhibited his first works at the Salon - Marguerites et Chrysanthèmes and Violettes et Fleurs Printanières. It is interesting to note that he was not officially studying under any particular artist at that time. One of de Schryver's notable works is A Young Man's Fancy, which he painted in 1898. The painting depicts a young man dressed in a white and red infantry military uniform, engaging in a conversation with a young woman who is standing behind a table filled with fruit and flowers. The painting captures a moment of youthful exuberance and romanticism.
