Top 12 Songs of 2017

I’ve been putting this off for so so longggg but finally I am doing this! Tagged by the lovely @ip-deok thank you so much I had fun looking back at the songs I loved the most last year~ it was super hard tho so I’m actually thinking of making playlists for the months so I can better remember!

 BTS - Spring Day She’s beauty and she’s grace, she puts every other song in their place. Absolutely stunning. I’m listening to her a lot right now since it’s perfect for winter-> spring <3

Pentagon - Like This The lyrics really got to me and were delivered with stunning vocals and gave a melancholic feeling but also a sense of determination. Please check Pentagon out if you haven’t!

Sunmi - Gashina She really did that. I listened to this on repeat for hours at work and didn’t get bored! idk what else to say about this song since all of us love it!

EXO - What U Do? Seriously, the War was the first EXO album I really liked in a LONG time! So many good quality songs there and perfect for summer. When I listen to this I think of eating watermelon with loved ones at a park while watching the sunset after a day of summer shenanigans spent on bikes!

EXO - The Eve Sensual with an addicting beat and melody along with smooth vocals. I don’t know how anyone could dislike it, it is THAT good imo.

EXO - Sweet Lies Basically The Eve pt. 2 but with more emotional and melancholic lyrics which I fkn love. Perfectly relatable to all the times I tried to suppress all my issues in hopes of them disappearing if I just ignored them long enough. 

BTS - Serendipity Jimin is not my bias but this is legit my favorite song on LY:H. So soft and gorgeous. Relatable lyrics and delivered by the vocal chords of an angel.

BTS - Dimple Second favorite song on the album! So soft. So good. Haven’t we all needed an anthem for when crushing on the sweetest looking girl ever?? idk I just love how despite the lyrics being very cute there’s still no reassurance that they’re actually dating? Therefore it is my girl-crush anthem of 2017 (even though we ALL KNOW this was written for Namjoon)

BTS - Mic Drop Hoseok killing us all in the first verse and then handing over whatever’s left of us to Yoongi with the iconic “Mic Mic Bungee”. The sassy hook and the glorious chorus. The ending with Jin and Tae telling the haters byeee. I can’t tell you how many times I ‘rapped’ this song to everyone’s great annoyance lol #rip @ bf

TWICE - Likey Such a fun and upbeat song!! Even if I could barely sing along thanks to not actually having a good voice and being used to lower pitched and more comfortable songs I still listened to this all the time while doing dishes. I really. really. wanna learn the chorus dance. ;-;

SZA - Prom Someone I anoned recced SZA’s album Ctrl (and I think everyone should go give it a listen if you haven’t because you’ve been missing out!!) and while I enjoyed the vibe of the songs and could listen through it mindlessly while getting ready, this song stood out to me. Again, because of the relatable nature of the lyrics.

 BTS - Crystal Snow Spring Day’s official gf. I love her. Again, she’s perfect for this season so I’m still listening to her a LOT. Grossest memory: one time in chemistry class (I think it was 8th or 9th grade) our teacher (he was one of those 'cool' teachers all students liked, I liked him too he was chill and funny) talked about stink bombs etc and then he went to get something. Turned out he grabbed the small container with butanoic acid and opened it and holy crap that shit is so stinky I hope you’ll never come in contact with it omg just remembering it gives me chills. The rest of the day the whole floor was stinky

I came across a reaction video on tumblr and the guy was freaking out over not today and it was very funny. about a month later someone I follow posted Boy Meets Evil and I ended up watching that and Not Today, followed by Blood Sweat and Tears

23. What immediately comes to your mind when you think of Jin?

Kim Seokjin. He immediately makes me think of home cooked meals, big fluffy sweaters and dad jokes. Eat!Jin pops up in my mind just like his childish behaviour, how he teases his members but also takes care of them. I admire his confidence, he is the self-declaimed Mr. Worldwide Handsome after all. He reminds me of warm bear-hugs, afternoons spend goofing around with friends, the content feeling after finishing a satisfying meal.

24. What immediately comes to your mind when you think of Yoongi?

Min Yoongi. I immediately think about his hardworking and tsundere-like personality. How he looses sleep over producing and working all night long. How he doesn’t say much but takes care of his members in silence. I think about how he puts his whole being into music and how passionately he performs. But he also has a soft and goofy side; his love for Kumamon is just too pure and his gummy smile lights up the whole room. He reminds me of drinking coffee at the edge of dawn, sleepless nights spend loosing yourself in work, rainy days in the bustling streets of NYC.

25. What immediately comes to your mind when you think of Namjoon?

Kim Namjoon. A shy boy with the cutest dimples who is also a very humble leader comes to my mind. I think about his philosophy rants and his pure love for Ryan. How he has a clumsy nature; how he covers his mouth when he laughs; how he inspired me to read Demian and The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas; how he always inspires me to think about things. He reminds me of spending a free day in a bookstore, wandering around without purpose and just taking in the scenery and the people, a chaotic mind filled with too many thoughts.

26. What immediately comes to your mind when you think of Hoseok?

Jung Hoseok. A passionate dance leader comes to my mind who is the literal personification of the sun. I think about how he always cheers his members up although his own energy level is low. How serious he gets when he dances; how this majestic aura surrounds him. I think about his fear of heights but how he still completes photoshoots high above the ground professionally. He reminds me of the warming sun on a cold winter day, buying colourful candies at the amusement park, evenings spend with a few friends in a bar talking leisurely.

27. What immediately comes to your mind when you think of Jimin?

Park Jimin. When I think about Jimin I immediately think about his hardworking personality, how he always tries to improve himself. I think about this shy boy who makes a 180° turn when he’s on stage. He’s not called sexy mochi for nothing. His absolute adorable smile crosses my mind, when his cheeks bunch up and his eyes form the most charming eye smile. I think about how he always puts his members before himself, how he makes sure they are okay. He reminds me of eating cotton candy while taking a stroll, returning to your favourite seaside after a long time, a piece of home.

28. What immediately comes to your mind when you think of Taehyung?

Kim Taehyung. He makes me think of art galleries, strawberries, puppies and amusement parks. I think about his boxy smile, his smooth deep voice, his love for photography. I also think about his love for children, his love for animals and his outgoing personality. I admire his confidence in speaking foreign languages and his positive approach of all kinds of situations. He reminds me of watching the night sky and counting stars, renting bicycles in a foreign country and getting lost but still having fun nevertheless, eating ice cream in the deepest winter while shivering like hell and starting to contemplate your life choices but still not regretting it for one second.

29. What immediately comes to your mind when you think of Jungkook?

Jeon Jungkook. He immediately makes me think of his shyness around strangers but how he opens up when he gets to know them better; he makes me think about his cute bunny smile and how he always manages to make his members laugh. I think about his competitiveness and how he tries to lessen as much burden as he can from his members. I think about his nickname ‘Golden Maknae’ and golden he is; how he is good at everything he does when he puts his heart into it. He reminds me of lazy days spend watching animes for hours, running and running and running because you want to and it makes you feel free, waking up in the morning hours before the alarm clock goes off and the relief to be able to doze off again.
