How to stay ONE step ahead in Life ?
“Lead, kindly light…
Keep thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distance scene; one step enough for me.”  — Church Hymn
One step is enough. It is the only necessary part of the journey you can cover at one time. Pray for guidance to see no more but one step. You want to see through further, but all you need is one step.
Lao Tzu, a famous Taoist master, says, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” One step at a time, and then next and then another, pushes you toward the goal—and, one day, you arrive.
Worry only about the first one. Then you see the next—and so you move ahead. Placing one foot before another creates enough thrust and power to achieve any goal imaginable.
John C. Maxwell, the leadership coach, observes: “The goal in life is not to live forever. The goal is to create something that does.” You will leave the world one day, but your goal—your legacy—lives on. Generations after you will remember you from your work. They’ll recognize you with your creation. So, create my friend, create. And, as we learned, a straightforward step is all you need. One step is all you need to take.
With that now, let us learn how you can take one prime step. And how you can be one step ahead. As mentioned in a Greek Proverb, “The beginning is half of every action.”
Well begun is half done, we hear—but the question remains:
How to begin?
We have a hard time beginning. We don’t know how to start. Our hands and minds freeze in terror as we grab the pen or step up on that platform. Our heart misses a beat when we begin something new. Some call it “writer’s block,” while others say it is “facing a blank wall.” Scientists call it “the law of inertia,” whereas philosophers call it a “mental block.”
Either way, it is not easy to begin. All sorts of demons lurking inside us (in our minds) who circle us as we begin something. And now we know that one step is enough. James Clear, author of the famous book “Atomic Habits,” says that once you begin something (anything for that matter), you are more likely to complete it and prevail till the end. If you don’t begin law of inertia comes into play.
So, my friends, let me open my secret box and share with you some practical tips to stay one magical step ahead. No matter what, you begin before you arrive.
1) Start before starting:
Reach before the specified time and start. Jump right in. Thinking about something takes more time than taking that first step. Start before the clock ticks and throw yourself right in. The more you think, the less your chances of starting it.
2) Begin a day before:
Tackle tomorrow’s task today. Say, there is something to be done tomorrow. Okay. Now ask:
Do I have all the information necessary to complete that task/activity/goal?
If the answer is yes, you are better off. Do it today. No one has ever seen that mysterious day known as “tomorrow,” for it never actually comes.
Espejismo, my friend, illusione. Do not believe in magic which is promised for the future. The magic begins right here—when you take that first daunting step.
3) Complete one and start another:
We tend to take a break or pause any activity as soon as we finish a chapter or reach a logical end. If you were reading a book, and as soon as you see that last period on the last paragraph, followed by a blank page, you take a deep breath and close the book. “I’m done,” and off you go.
But you don’t know that you’re leaving yourself in a no-decision-zone again. You’re handing over your charge to that brilliant enemy of professional artists that Steven Pressfield famously refers to as “Resistance” in his bestseller book, “The War of Art.”
So what to do?
Take a step further and begin the next one. Finish one—begin another. Time your breaks in between chapters and not at chapter endings. I illustrated the tip with a reading example, but you can apply it to anything you do.
4) 2 Minute rule:
First established by David Allen in his lovely productivity book, “Getting Things Done,” this rule is a magic trick. It aims to beat procrastination and help you accomplish small tasks quickly.
Here’s the rule: “If you can do an action in 2 minutes or less, tackle it at that moment—and don’t delay.”  David says further, “it would take far more energy and effort to capture the task, clarify it, organize it, reflect upon and then finally engage in it. It’s simply not worth your time.”
The trick, he says, is to do it now.
With these tips, you should have no issues in being up ahead, front and center.

The Sacred Month of Shraavan: Significance and Celebrations
Astrology, LovenHeal, Shraavan Month / By lovenheal
The month of Shraavan, also known as Sawan, holds a special place in the Hindu calendar. It is the fifth month in the Hindu lunar calendar and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This auspicious month is filled with devotion, fasting, and various rituals aimed at seeking blessings from the divine. Let’s explore the significance, traditions, and celebrations that make Shraavan a spiritually enriching time. This year Shraavan will be celebrated on 5th of August 2024 on Monday.
Significance of Shraavan
Shraavan is considered highly auspicious due to its association with Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, it is during this month that Lord Shiva drank the poison, Halahala, to save the world during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan). The poison turned his throat blue, earning him the name Neelkanth. Devotees believe that worshiping Lord Shiva during this month brings immense blessings and fulfillment of desires.
Rituals and Traditions
1. Fasting (Vrat)
One of the most common practices during Shraavan is observing fasts. Devotees observe various types of fasts, such as:
Monday Fasts (Somvar Vrat): Mondays of Shraavan, known as Shravan Somvar, are considered particularly sacred. Devotees fast and offer prayers to Lord Shiva.
Pradosh Vrat: Observed twice a month during the waxing and waning phases of the moon. It is believed to bring prosperity and remove obstacles.
Sawan Shivratri: Celebrated on the 14th day of the waning moon, devotees stay awake all night, chanting mantras and offering prayers to Lord Shiva.
2. Offering Jalabhishek
Devotees visit Shiva temples and perform Jalabhishek, an offering of water and milk to the Shiva Lingam. This ritual is believed to purify the soul and bring peace and prosperity.  Also Devotees performs Panchabhishek of Shivlingam by offering Water, Milk, Sandalwood, Curd and Honey of Shivlingam.
3. Chanting Mantras
Chanting powerful mantras like the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra and Om Namah Shivaya is a common practice. These mantras are believed to invoke divine energy and blessings.
4. Kanwar Yatra
During Shraavan, thousands of devotees, known as Kanwariyas, undertake a pilgrimage to fetch holy water from the Ganges River and offer it to Shiva temples, particularly the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi and the Deoghar Baidyanath Dham in Jharkhand.
Celebrations Across India
Shraavan is celebrated with great fervor across different parts of India, each region having its unique customs and traditions.
1. Northern India
In states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, the Kanwar Yatra is a major event. Devotees dressed in saffron clothes walk barefoot to collect Ganga water and offer it to Lord Shiva.
2. Western India
In Maharashtra, the month of Shraavan is marked by special prayers and offerings in temples. The famous Shirdi Sai Baba Temple sees a surge in devotees during this month.
3. Southern India
In Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Mondays of Shraavan are celebrated with special poojas and abhishekams in Shiva temples. The temples are beautifully decorated, and devotees came in large numbers to seek blessings.
4. Eastern India
In West Bengal, the month is dedicated to both Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The Mondays of Shraavan see devotees offering milk and flowers to the deity.
Auspicious Days in Shraavan Month
1. Nag Panchami
Celebrated on the fifth day of the Shraavan month, Nag Panchami is dedicated to the worship of serpents. Devotees offer milk and prayers to snake idols and images, seeking protection and blessings.
2. Raksha Bandhan
This festival celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. Sisters tie a protective thread, Rakhi, on their brothers’ wrists, praying for their well-being, while brothers promise to protect their sisters.
3. Shravani Purnima
On the full moon day of Shraavan, Brahmins change their sacred thread (Yajñopavītam) in a ceremony called Upakarma. This day is also celebrated as Raksha Bandhan in many parts of India.
Conclusion
The month of Shraavan is a deeply spiritual time filled with devotion, fasting, and rituals. It brings people closer to Lord Shiva and enhances community and cultural ties. Through events like the Kanwar Yatra, Jalabhishek, and Raksha Bandhan, Shraavan celebrates faith, tradition, and unity. This holy month rejuvenates and blesses us, preparing us to face life with renewed energy and spiritual strength.
This beautiful blog on the Month of Shraavan captures the essence of its significance, rituals, and celebrations. If you have any specific traditions or personal experiences related to Shraavan that you would like to share or include, feel free to let us know!

Do’s and Don’ts on Aashad Amavasya
Amavasya, Astrology, LovenHeal / By lovenheal
The term “Amavasya” is derived from the Sanskrit words “Ama” (together) and “Vasya” (to dwell), meaning the day when the sun and the moon dwell together. It signifies the new moon day when the moon is completely dark and not visible in the night sky.
Aashad Amavasya, the new moon day in the Hindu month of Aashad, is a day This year Aashadi Amavasya will be on the 4th of August 2024 filled with spiritual and religious significance. Observing the right practices can help enhance the auspiciousness of the day. Here are some do’s and don’ts to keep in mind
Do’s
Perform Pitru Tarpan and Shradh: Engage in rituals to honor your ancestors. Offer water, black sesame seeds, and rice to the departed souls. Performing Shradh ceremonies, involving the offering of food to Brahmins or the needy, is also considered auspicious.
Take a Holy Bath: Bathe in sacred rivers, lakes, or other holy water bodies. This act is believed to purify the body and soul, washing away sins and negativities.
Observe Fasting: Many devotees fast on Aashad Amavasya to cleanse their bodies and minds. Fasting helps in focusing on spiritual growth and inner peace.
Meditate and Pray: Spend time in meditation and prayer. Chanting mantras and performing pujas can help in attaining spiritual calm and connecting with the divine.
Give to Charity: Acts of charity hold special significance on this day. Donate food, clothes, and other essentials to the needy to gain blessings and positive karma.
Visit Temples: Pay visits to temples and offer prayers to deities, especially Lord Shiva and Goddess Kali. Light lamps and participate in temple rituals to seek divine blessings.
Engage in Spiritual Practices: Utilize the day for sadhana (spiritual practices). Engage in activities like yoga, mantra chanting, and reading holy scriptures.
Offer Lamps and Diyas: Light lamps or diyas in your home and at sacred places to dispel darkness and invite positive energy.
Don’ts
Avoid Negative Actions: Refrain from engaging in negative or harmful actions, such as arguments, disputes, or any form of violence. Maintain a peaceful and positive demeanor throughout the day.
Do Not Consume Non-Vegetarian Food: It is advisable to avoid eating non-vegetarian food on Aashad Amavasya. Stick to a vegetarian diet, especially if you are fasting.
Avoid Alcohol and Intoxicants: Refrain from consuming alcohol or any other intoxicants. Maintaining a clear and pure state of mind is important on this day.
Limit Material Activities: Try to minimize materialistic activities and focus more on spiritual and religious practices. Avoid shopping, entertainment, and other distractions.
Don’t Disrespect Ancestors: Ensure that all rituals related to Pitru Tarpan and Shradh are performed with respect and sincerity. Avoid neglecting these rituals, as they are considered important for seeking blessings from ancestors.
Avoid Haircuts and Shaving: Traditionally, it is believed that one should avoid haircuts, shaving, or cutting nails on Amavasya, as it is considered inauspicious.
Do Not Lend or Borrow Money: Financial transactions such as lending or borrowing money should be avoided on Aashad Amavasya, as it is believed to bring financial instability.
Stay Away from Inauspicious Activities: Activities considered inauspicious, such as starting new ventures or projects, should be avoided on this day. Instead, focus on introspection and planning for future endeavors.
