it is so important to me to know that the pogues (specifically pope bc he's the one reciting lyrics) listen to a tribe called quest. i feel like they put that in there specifically for me. i hope he listens to de la soul too <3
#i do have a full pogue playlist of all this shit i think they lsiten to .#this might be controversial#but i feel like there's at least SOME outkast being played in that stupid twinkie#along with kie's marley and peter tosh of course#i think john b leans toward the lowfi surfer beat kinda of vibe#i know john b's ass blasted heat of the summer for hours in a row#like vaugely popish and a lot about summer and good friends#and jj likes chill ass old rock like santana#i think they like all of the music that is played tho but they each bring a different genre to the playlist and yet it all fits perfectly#kind of like how each pogue brings something different but they fit together perfectly anyway <3#i think soooooo much about what all the characters listen to all the time omfg i need to relax#outer banks#obx#mine

what's milo's taste in music, and how significantly does that change between his forms? (...asking both as a general question and wondering if he would have any particular interest in vocaloid at all)
Hmmm good question. Considering he likes more management, good feel games like Animal Crossing, Spirit Farers, Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley (probably Potion Permit, which is also another game I'm playing lol), I can imagine he has more of taste in softer and calmer music. Probably into lowfi and possibly classical.
Manipulation Milo I think would be into more pop and whatever songs are more popular. For some reason, I can kind of see him being into EDM as well. He listens to all kinds of music to blend in with the crowd and will happily listen to any song Eris gives him.
Violence Milo is, as you guessed it, really into more heavy music, rock, metal all that kind of jazz. Anything that has a very strong bass he will probably like as well. While it's partially because he wants to keep up his tough boy image, I think it also helps him channel his anger. He'll still listen to softer music that he likes back when he was Pre Milo but he might be a bit more embarrassed about it.
I think they'd listen to vocaloid if you'd ask him to, since vocaloid encompasses a ton of different genres. My guess is that Manipulation Milo would probably like it the most since they have more of the pop styles in Vocaloid songs, though if you can find heavier beat/softer music for the other two Milos they will enjoy it as well. I'm sure Eris could also just force them to listen to Vocaloid if they really wanted to. Who knows, maybe a Vocaloid Milo will end up appearing after all that.

okee good morning...answering this for real now lmao
Required reading for context first!:
https://www.tumblr.com/painted-bees/714138097261150208/lark-wren-lark-needs-to-drag-her-focus-kicking
https://www.tumblr.com/painted-bees/713687883290214400/thinkin-more-about-magritte-and-rafael-because-of
Raf and Magritte, before meeting Cortes, had become pretty iron clad as a pair. As skittish/paranoid as Raf can be, Magritte had proven time and time again that she adores Raf for being Raf, and not what he can be used for nor what she imagines he should be. He’s no longer waiting for that other shoe to drop with her, like he’s usually waiting on with literally anyone else. Magritte’s love, so far as he can tell--and deliberately elects to believe in--is completely unconditional. Raf has only ever had three...four people he trusts to see him as himself and do well by him: his grandmother, his uncle, Magritte, and Cortes.
Magritte, of course, genuinely does adore Raf, thinks he’s very sweet--thinks he’s got a -lot- of baggage and needs some proper patience and a gentle kind of love. But he’s very patient with her, doesn’t yell at her for forgetting things or forgetting to -do- things, and just seems to genuinely love having her around, and doesn’t get annoyed when she’s excited about stuff and it’s just...so refreshing.
Needless to say, Raf and Magritte are ride or die for each other. Raf is extremely protective of Magritte’s infectious enthusiasm, optimism, and her overall penchant to see the best in every situation and every person. Magritte just wants to see Raf have an easier time of things and find joy in the stuff that is joyful again.
Raf and Magritte met Cortes...strangely: https://www.tumblr.com/painted-bees/715850323888160768/the-water-between-the-discovery-islands-off-the
Cortes is their...adopted cryptid gf, they kinda have this inherent understanding that Cortes is more a force of nature than anything else. She comes and goes as she pleases, is wholly aloof to the world around her outside of Raf and Magritte (whom are the clear objects of her affection during her little ‘human-kind’ cosplay adventure). Sometimes Cortes is gone for a month or so at a time, with no indication of where she went or what she’s doing. But Magritte and Raf both inherently kinda...know...she’ll be back and she’s fine.
Raf and Cortes have a very quiet, chill kind of relationship--very low energy in the comforting way. The relationship version of “lowfi beats to study to” lmao.
Magritte and Cortes have a very playful, mischievous relationship and Cortes encourages Magritte’s childish impulses--both good and peevish lmao they are a chaotic duo...but they somehow always get away with what ever trouble they end up finding themselves in together.
Neither Magritte nor Raf (nor anyone, really) find anything unsettlingly strange or off putting about Cortes--she’s not even all that weird, really. Just a unique kind of charisma.
#Cortes#as an aside:#as paranoid as Raf is about people's motivations he's never one to speak poorly about other people#UNLESS that person has victimized other people. Then it's not just his own bad vibes anymore it's real.#and a real problem.#But Raf was raised to not make a fuss or cause problems when his own autonomy etc is being infringed upon#BUT he does not like to let it happen to other people#and has a negative integer patience for abusive behaviors when he clocks extrinsic instences of it between other people.#Meanwhile Magritte is just happy to be in a relationship where she's not constantly tense about forgetting things#she hates being yelled at#hates hates hates it it makes her cry#but Raf has never yelled at her--she didn't think it was possible for anyone to have that kinda patience with her lmao#cus she's always forgetting things and forgetting to do things and people always take it as a sign that she doesn't care#but she does#a lot.#Hi-Note#magritte#rafael

People on this site will be complaining about not enough jazz and then post white cis girl gringo pop. So ya like jazz? Well you're giving me an excuse to infodump about music again.
Kamasi Washington. He just released a super intense new album, his sax solos are strong and brilliant, but his slower atmospheric compositions are also poweful. The symbolism in the video to Truth, about the transcendant continuity of hybrid migrant cultures, made me cry several times. His lyrics are always full of black history while taking a fighting stance towards the future. Really, so many hours of music and it's all deep and fresh and in the moment.
Tigran Hamasyan. This guy started in prog rock, then decided it was not complex enough and created a form of jazz that is just mind bogling. If you thought a piano solo doesn't rock, get a load of this guy. This is what I call rhythm. And he also connects it with Georgian harmonies for a beautiful atmosphere.
So ya like jazz hop. Like chillout lowfi, but actually reaching deep and unfolding complex melodies without ever losing the cool vibes. Adding spoken words that are both poetry and common people from the community comming to big realizations. I'm talking about Alfa Mist here. It sounds like electronic oldschool hiphop beats but it's actually all played acoustic. Go dig the studio sessions.
I'm not even going to get into Nduduzo Makhathini, Seun Kuti, Yusef Dayes, Shaolin Afronauts, Yussef Kamaal... Jazz ain't old, these artists are all active right now, constantly bringing new twists to the genre. Stop telling other people to open their minds, open your own mind first. Having no opinion doesn't make you a better person. Stop preaching, start living.

URL song game
thank you for the tag @cleric4vampire (sorry it took me 5ever to actually post and format this its been sitting in my drafts for weeks lmao)
B- Blissful Death from NieR:Automata soundtrack
fun fact, there is actually lyrics being sang in this song, they're just in a made up language called "Chaos" and it all translates into gibberish nonsense. This song is like a vibration that you feel rattle through your brain, and the reason I keep picking up nier automata (the entire sound track is *chefs kiss*)
I - If We Were Vampires by Chester See
A classic shippy song, I always think of my mage husbands when listening to this but its obvs a great Astarion song too
maybe time running out is a gift/I'll work hard till the end of my shift/ and give you every second l can find/ and hope it isn't me who's left behind
R- Rät by Penelope Scott
this entire song goes hard but two of my fave bits are the verse that starts "when I said take me too the moon, I never meant take me alone" and the line "well I don't wanna eat the rich, I'd have to eat my heros first"
B- Black Sun by Deathcab for Cutie
there is an answer in a question/and there is hope within despair
Bonus lowfi beats for the dashes in my url
- (Recharge by Yasumu)
- (Moonlit Walk by Purrple Cat)
B- In Bloom by Neck Deep
I cheated this one a lil bit, but it's one of my fave songs by one of my fave bands
And this won't be the last time/ that I break down and wanna crawl to bed/ cause the truth is / you're the only one I wanna hear in my head
I-I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Deathcab for Cutie
A classic, getting to see this performed live with the whole audience singing along was magical💕
the time for sleep is now/ but its nothing to cry about/ cause we'll hold each other soon/ in the blackest of rooms
R-Rock Bottom by Neck Deep
another of my fave Neck Deep songs, its one of those songs that I always crank when it comes on
here I lay again rock bottom/ what was life like?/ I've forgotten how the sun felt on my skin/ resurrect and start again
B- Breathe in by Low Roar
I've listened to this song so many times the words just feel like sounds that add to the etherealness of the song, rather than words that have meaning lols
#cleric4vampire#song game#feel free to join anyone who wants to do this!#It makes me laugh how many neck deep and deathcab songs ended on this I swear it wasnt on purpose#music#music recs

If the majority of your song is going to be a chill beat then your lyrics have to hit otherwise it just sounds like easy listening elevator music or lowfi you play in the background. And unfortunately the lyrics are not good and even if the vibe is relaxed his singing is too low energy for me. Which is not unexpected because he has never sung well imo and I'm not sure why he (and Yoongi) keep doubling down on vocal tracks when their main strength is rap. I'm honestly disappointed this is the first song he put out. I really don't think this was the best song to start his rollout with.
“I'm honestly disappointed this is the first song he put out. I really don't think this was the best song to start his rollout with.”
Was saying the exact same thing. Granted who knows if there’s a song on there that could’ve been better suited. The pre release is supposed to hype you up for the rest of the album and if this is a sneak peak of the possible direction of the other songs (because I know the overall genere is said to be alternative) my interest in it is real low atm. And not everything has to be pop or an in your face track like smf2 to build hype. There’s nothing wrong with slow songs, but the worst combination you can do is slow and boring.
To me, I don’t even think the lyrics were the issue with this (and I didn’t care for some of the lyrics either) it’s more the low energy singing like you said. He has the same problem TH does with the monotonous, mumbled vocals. He’s even intentionally really pushing into a drawl in some parts of the songs. That’s why being dynamic in your singing is key I feel cause I was tuning out listening and trying to finish CBTM. It keeps the attention so much better.

do you have a favorite tma episode? :)
I’m so sorry this took me so long to get too, I just had a hard time trying to pick?!?
I couldn’t choose so now I’m gonna make it everyone else’s problem in this text response.
Like ok, the first that always comes to mind is MAG 65: Binary and MAG 74: Fatigue.
Binary because the thought of an Internet creepypasta being a real actual thing that exists in universe is the funniest thing imaginable.
Also how lovely the story is told! God such a good episode.
But like, there’s also Fatigue which like, keeps popping up in my mind low key only because there was a Uquize that gave you “what statement giver you are” and I got Lydia Halligan for ep 74 and it’s stayed rent free in my head so now it’s one of the few episodes that pop up in my head when someone asks.
Also that and you can feel the fact the jonny wrote this sleep deprived, bless.
I also, unfortunately, live in a constant state of fatigue so much relations to be had 😔.
BUT WAIT!!! THERES MORE???
Yes there’s more I love horror.
MAG 177: Wonderland is my absolute #1 fear and actually concern irl so I tend to actually really like and really relate to it? Like my body is in pain a good percentage of my time alive and more things keep popping up that are Concerning!™️ but going to the doctor about it gives me pause because of past experiences. I’ve also straight up broke down when I came home once because of anxiety and the fact that I Hate Being Touched And Doctor Had to Poke And Prod At Me And I Didn’t Like How I Was Spoken Too And So Much More ;-;. It’s just a good episode that Hits, me, in the face, at Full Speed!!!
Other eps I like for no other reason other then “Vibes Hard” are 24: Strange Music, 81: A Guest For Mr. Spider (huh I Wonder Why), 87: The Uncanny Valley (lmao), and 22: Colony (lmao I wonder why that one as well)
Also another I like for funny reasons is MAG 165: Revolutions because of someone on tumblr put the statement to a lowfi beat and it fucking ruled.
There are probably more that I might like more but it’s been a while since I’ve listened as I have the “can’t really pay attention or enjoy anything I like lately if I’ve already heard it before even if I really really really like said thing” disease. Which I believe comes from the depression side of my ADHD :/
(This has also started to effective my enjoyment of new things as well. :( man :( my brain sucks :(...)
So my rule of thumb is, if I remember it and it’s not the first few eps then it’s up there on my list!!! :D (because the first eps are truly sooooooooosososo good!) I also left out any that just had moments I liked after the statements as I wanted to focus on the statements and horror stories themselves! Not just for my undying admiration and love for Asexual King Jon Jarchivist J Jim’s and Martin Kartin Blackwood. Oh how I love them dearly <3
I can however tell you the ep I absolutely can not listen to again tho!!!
No matter how many time I relisten (or attempt to, stupid brain) I can never listen to MAG 6: Squirm ever again! I just can’t! My sex-repulsed ass was already second-guessing listening when I heard the episodes description for the first time. And then it got worse as I listened because EW GOD NO WHY EW. Like ew god the implications??? 😨 like I already think it’s gross but the worms make it more gross and horrifying. I already remember all the relevant information form the first time around! I don’t need another go! thank you! Have a good day!
Also side note, not anywhere near my favorite or least favorite (tho I can still relisten to it, mag 6 is the only one I can’t) but MAG 172: Strung Out scares me. Not in a “I relate to this” kind of way, I have never done a drug in my life and find it to be a waist of my time, hell I don’t even drink for the same reason. (Plus looking at my ADHD and some of my heritage, I’d be much more prone to addiction anyways.) To me it’s a waist of time and money and not something I care for as, surprise! I don’t like losing or being out of my own control! This ep scares me the same way it would probably scare Mr. GhostHunter Shane Madej.
Anyways! There’s my TMA episode thought! :D
#asks#tma#the magnus archives#MAG episodes#I really love horror and listening to spooky Audio :)#thank you for asking this it was fun!!!

what’s your fav chill music?
None? I'm either feeling music, and then anything will do chill or not chill, or I'm not and I'm cool with silence or a show or podcast.
SOMETIMES my partner insists on "chill music" for cleaning and we like that LowFi HipHop Beats to Chill/Study Girl on youtube.
I know I'm a weirdo for not having music in the background all the time. But I have auditory processing issues and Sir is HOH so really it is for the best 😅
