Starting on March 20th, the gacha “Lu’s Blooming Birthday” will begin! Come and catch Lu in an all-new SR card as she joins the March birthday ranks once more! Alongside this, there will be more festivities to come!

Happy birthday to meeeee!!! Full disclosure, my birthday is on the 23rd, but I wanted to give Lu more festivities than she got last year ehehe, hence her getting a full-blown mini-event this year! 

Event info

First off, I’ll explain how this is gonna go down! This will be a shorter event than one I’ve run in the past. It will be from 3/20-3/24, with a bunch of little things dropping onto the blog each day to celebrate Lu’s/my birthday!

Second, taglist! For this event, there will be a taglist for those who want to be notified whenever anything drops! To be added, interact with the taglist post.

And third, more importantly, the schedule!!

March 20: Event begins! On this day, the art for her birthday card will be revealed, and the banner for this post will be updated!

March 21: Part one of the card backstage will be dropped!(for my non-A3! followers, this is just a short story in script format to match the vibe of the original vn)

March 22: Part 2 of the backstage drops!

March 23: My birthday! There will be a little blog promo, and I might run an ask game!

March 24: Extra day for receiving letters and such, as well as possibly another little thing, we’ll see how much energy I have<3

"The show is about to start."

One more mention of being a spectator, an observer. The idea of the Manipulator implies that he doesn't get his hands dirty, he sends people in and watches how things unfold. He doesn't even look that involved, emotionally.

The settings on this screenshot makes it look like a guy watching the world through cameras, but the couch isn't facing the TVs, it's facing us. I think there is a recurrent theme in this fandom we easily overlook: the 4th wall. But let's put that aside for now and focus on his role as an active spectator, making his headcanons come true from the darkness of his basement.

On this countdown picture, he's watching the show, LIVE. The bouquet 💐 puts us on his trail: he's not watching a silver screen but an actual representation. If this is a theater, it also implies there is no do over for each scene, the comedians have to do it all in one go and this night will be like no other before and after, each show tragically unique for people only there to witness it.

And tonight, with a flower bouquet in his arms, he intends to meet his favorite performer (Lu Guang)!

Spiderworts symbolize enduring love, just like myosotis, but also immortality and moral authority. Its other names are Widow’s Tears and False Dayflower.

Interesting.

The former, reminds us of the black widow of course. This name is related to the female's bad habit of eating the male after mating. Cannibalism, you say? x) Why does it do it? Nutrition, of course. It enhances reproductive success. So it's only natural behavior, survival instincts. With the spider imagery comes the spiderweb metaphor, which is always efficient to express manipulation and hunter/prey relationship.

The later forces us to ask, what do you mean false? Dayflower is an actual flower, by the way, meaning reliability and trustworthiness. 👀 Coincidence that Liu Xiao's flower basically implies that he isn't reliable and trustworthy? I don't think so 😂 It also is a call back to the Devil tarot card meta I did last week saying he represents the antichrist, the one you choose to put your trust into for salvation but who's actually bringing you closer to your demise.

Apparently, in victorian floriography language, a man gifts spiderworts to another man to express esteem (X). Liu Xiao wants to make his feelings known, finally, and he's using flowers to do it. I feel like he has a very parasocial relationship with Lu Guang, though. He's pining hard, but Lu Guang never appears to be aware of him. Even in "The Eye", he's looking at the window while Liu Xiao is reading the same poem over and over again. This Shakespeare poem which, as mentioned in a previous meta, is about two lovers who must be separated for survival reasons. Waiting patiently for the end of the representation to make his presence/existence known hints on his penchant for theatrics as well.

All of this info is cool and all but what does it mean?

I truly believe that Liu Xiao is in awe of Lu Guang, might it be because of his abilities (and the creative way he might use them to save Cheng Xiaoshi), his achievements (that we barely know about) or his objective/motivation. Think of him as a scientist who bases his own research on his peer's work. Liu Xiao could very much be the mad scientist type, though lmao.

The fact Lu Guang's chess piece is a white Knight but Liu Xiao is kissing the black Knight in his PV? He's either delusional, thinking Lu Guang and he are the same, or he knows all of Lu Guang's dark secrets. As a stalker does, you know.

i dunno how silly all of these are, but:

every year my modern au War and Twi do something together. its a tradition that started when they were like 15 after War had like just broken up with his at the time bf and they’d just play video games together, but now that they’re adults with adult money and can do whatever they want, they dress up and go to a fancy ass dinner. its the biggest event of the year for Twi, and the only real reason he bothers keeping a pair of dress shoes. Whenever Twi and Midna get their shit together and if War ever finds a long term partner, those two are going to have to understand the Bro Tradition /j Sky has always been invited to come, but he’s usually had a partner (high school boyfriends, and now he’s been dating Sun since the start of college)

Speaking of my modern au Sky: he and Sun cook dinner together at his apartment (since War and Twi aren’t there) and then watch movies together. They’ve gone out to dinner one year in the past, but they have a lot more fun when they stay in and make food together

Both my Modern au and regular Time goes out very early in the morning and picks flowers and makes Malon a bouquet (it took me three entire minutes to figure out how to spell that), and then he’ll make breakfast for them both and THEN go wake her up. she keeps trying to get up before him and surprise HIM with breakfast but he always finds a way to be up first. in their 20s, they one time ended up having breakfast at like 3 in the morning because they were both so determined to wake up before the other

my regular War i write spends the whole entire day with his cats, and it’d take an incredibly special someone to come along and change that because those are his BABIES

my regular Sky and Sun will fly around on their loftwings and have a little picnic somewhere on one of the floating islands :)

and then the others don’t really do anything super special or specific, i think they’d just enjoy spending time with their loved ones

Thinking about Ida this lovely Mother's Day Sunday and just feeling a lot of angst and love for this woman. I'm very curious how that first Mother's Day after the war ends goes for her and what goes on....if you have thoughts, I'd love to hear them 🥰 Have a lovely Sunday and if you celebrate mother's day Marina, YOU ARE MOTHER and you're an icon and we all love you 😘

Ida and Mother’s Day, oooof. Well. Here’s some off the cuff headcanons that come to mind.

It’s the first Mother’s Day since she lost her child. Instead of taking time to register that, she focuses on the fact it’s her first liberated Mother’s Day in awhile, and with her father dead and John not heard from, it’s all the more important she call her mother up. And so I’m sure she did. Not that it was the first time they’d talked since her escaping, but it was important for both of them none the less.

I think, feeling the mild heaviness of the day and the fact that (generally speaking) life back at base for the recently liberated hasn’t been very great, I like to imagine Lu insisted on this being the first day they went back and hit the village pubs. Plugged back into the local life a little, got off base, tried to eat good food and watch people enjoy each other. Not like, AS a Mother’s Day celebration between them, but just since it was a holiday. (But also, Lbr Ida is Lu’s mom along with Gale too shhhh)

And to cap it off, that evening, I’d like to think was when the rest of the liberated 100th arrived back, because I’m sappy like that and there’s no peace for this woman when everyone else was still uncounted for. So yeah, maybe Mama Brady got two calls that day, though Johnny hardly weighed enough to not get blown over in the wind by then. Just thoughts that came to mind. Gosh this was soft to think about
