HELLO! Okay, so, this is my first ever prompt! It’s not super long and I don’t know if this is the type of thing you wanted. But, I enjoyed writing it so much. Thank you for the idea. I know it’s not super serious angst but it could probably lead into it more. Please let me know what you think!
Don’t think there are any triggers!

What the HELL is Hellfire?
“Lucas, wait in the car for like…10 minutes, I want to go and talk to this Eddie guy.” You groaned, running a hand down your face. Lucas mumbled a reluctance to your big sister duties. “No, it’s 11.30 at night Lucas. You were meant to be finished an hour ago at least. You have school tomorrow, you have a game the next day!”
You knew what you had to do. Lucas was spending too much of his time as this ‘Hellfire Club’. He needed to focus on his studies. He was your little brother, you had to look out for him some how, right? What even was DND anyway?
Getting out the car, you headed to the school, straight to the drama room. That’s where the club was always held, you knew Munson would be there. He was always there a while after the club finished.
Knocking on the door, you heard a sing song voice say:
“The score was fair and square, man, we aren’t doing another game.” The voice sounded cocky, almost like someone was putting on an act, trying to sound a lot more confident than they actually were.
Deciding that that was a good an invitation as any, you walked into the room. Greeted with a large table, dice everywhere, a large banner with ‘Hellfire’ on with a small devil underneath, you stood at the door way.
“Eddie? Eddie Munson right?” You asked quietly, slightly intimidated by the man sat in the large chair at the head of the table.
“Tis I! You’re Sinclairs sister, right? Take a seat upon this fine upholstery.” He quipped.
You did as he said, sat down opposite him and took a breath.
“Right, I don’t know you. You seem to know me though?” You smiled. You couldn’t hide it. Lucas and Erica were your world. Of course, their best interests came first. Even though you were angry, you couldn’t help but feel slightly elated that Lucas must have spoken about you to Eddie before.
“I mean, he always mentions that you’re picking him up. He didn’t mention you, ya know, you were so…” Eddie didn’t finish his sentence, he just looked down into his lap and played with the large silver rings on his hand. He wanted to say you were pretty, or something like that. But absolutely could not find the right words to do so without feeling like the ground would swallow him up. You didn’t know this. You thought this was just an absolute terrible attempt at flirting, to smooth things over. In a way, it was. Munson had no idea of the storm heading his way any second.
“Look, I don’t know what you’re trying here with me but…now isn’t the time. I need to talk to you about how late you’re keeping my brother, it’s not good for him. All of this.” You explained, gesturing around the table at all the memorabilia on it. Eddie watched you closely, his eyes not leaving yours for one second. “Eddie, you’ve kept him an hour late. For what? To play some dumb board game? He has school. He has his basketball games. I know you don’t care about school, how long have you been kept back now?” You spat spitefully. There was something about this Munson boy you couldn’t figure out. Did you dislike him? Did you find him intimidating? You couldn’t tell.
“Hey now! I’m graduating anytime now, just you wait. I’m gonna walk on that stage, take what I’m owed and get the hell out of there as fast as I fucking can!” Eddie said in defence.
You were getting irritated now. He wasn’t getting the point. This wasn’t about him.
“Yeah, right. Lucas said you’ve been saying that for the last two years.” You mumbled back, venom in your voice. “This isn’t even about you Eddie! I’ve come here to say that either you quit keeping the kids here so long or I’m pulling Lucas out. Now is an important time for him, more important than make believe or whatever this is.”
That seemed to ignite something in Eddie. Anger flashed across his large, brown doe eyes. He stood up out of his chair and paced the room, nervously. Absolutely full of nervous energy. Mixed with anger.
“Look, I know you don’t get all of this but, life is hard out there, Sinclair, I can call you that right? I mean I’m going to anyway.” Eddie babbled. He was going to drive you absolutely insane.
“Sometimes, a lot of the time, this is all we have. A few hours to take us away from all the shit that goes on out there. They call us freaks you know? They call us all freaks for being into this stuff. Your brother, too. He’s been called a freak, I’ve seen it, I’ve heard it.”
You leaned back in your chair. Lucas hadn’t told you this. Why wouldn’t he tell you?
“Eddie…I…that’s…that’s not the point. The point is…” You couldn’t find the words, you were trying so hard. Eddie could see the change in your expression and he pulled a seat out next to you.
“Look, I know you’re just looking out for the kid. And he’s a good kid, brilliant, the scores he rolls? Sweeet!” Eddie grinned, sitting down and showing genuine pride. “I promise next time I’ll try and round the game off an hour earlier, deal?” He reached out a ring clad hand towards yours.
What were you to do? You reached out and took it, shaking it firmly, before you stood up and turned towards the door.
“Ugh, I came here to absolutely chew you out…but look, just look after him, yeah? But for the love of god, please work on your time management.”
Eddie gave you a huge Cheshire cat grin and led you to the door, opening it for you. “After you.” He said softly. “I can see where Lucas and Erica get their fire from, good job.” He seemed to think this went better than it did.
“You’re not off the hook Munson, one more late night and that’s it!” You called seriously as you walked out the door, back towards the car.
It’s decided. You personally disliked him, you think, anyway, at least that was your first impression. For now.

renegade - e. munson
eddie munson x hazel henderson
chapter one: henderson's home
---
"In fact, I remember my first day of high school (his junior year) he had taken one of those sitting scooters from the gym and made one of his friends push him down the hallway. He was screaming for members to join and was throwing shitty-made flyers to random students. When I learned about the club, I thought instantly my little brother would love this. And lucky for us, Eddie kept repeating his senior year allowing Dustin to meet his new D&D friend. This was Eddie's third attempt to graduate."

We’re just gonna see where this goes but it’s inspired by this! Hope you don’t mind @thorniest-rose
~
When it first came to be, it was strictly dnd. Honest. It was a safe place for anybody who wanted to play in the game, to find friends.
But somewhere along the way when it was just the core four; Gareth, Jeff, Frankie and of course, Eddie.
They used their time in Hellfire to become best friends and eventually learn something else they have in common.
A crush on Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington.
The four of them hated admitting it out loud but it came to a halt when the jock was partnered up with Jeff for a project and Jeff couldn’t stop talking about how nice the guy actually is. It snowballed from there, Gareth found out the guy drove middle schoolers around when he accidentally ran into him at the arcade and one of the middle schoolers wouldn’t leave him alone. Then Frankie accidentally bumped into him during lunch and Steve gave up his food when Frankie’s was all over the floor.
What really sold all of them on the crush was when Eddie decided all of them deserved a treat for defeating the latest campaign. Eddie froze the second he stepped into Scoops Ahoy when Steve turned from his coworker and greeted them.
It was after that they all really admitted to the crush and would spend a few minutes each hellfire session to talk about it.
They thought once the new school year started, they’ll finally move past it.
It was going really good, until the new members came in and all four of them got a front row seat yet again of the one they all like.
Steve dropping off Dustin Henderson and Robin Buckley at school, or Steve hanging around Hellfire to drag Henderson home. They see him around town too, usually with Robin but sometimes he’s out with Dustin and Sinclair’s sister getting ice cream of all things.
They’re all cowards though.
Never actually finding any sort of courage to actually talk to the guy. At least not directly and never long enough, sometimes they’ll say hi and how are yous. Little stuff, ya know?
Luckily no one caught onto it, especially since they actually see Steve more and more now. Instead of talking about the crush during hellfire sessions, they use band practice now. Just to save themselves a from tiny bit of embarrassment.
Tumblr media
Eddie’ll admit later on that he got a little, just a tiny amount really, high. A bit, truly. That’s what makes his lips a little loose, makes his brain mushy, makes him giddy and have the giggles.
He’ll blame Henderson or maybe thank him? Eddie isn’t sure yet but for now not just himself but his best friends are all frozen right now.
“You what?!” Henderson screeches and makes them move again, “Hellfire is what now?”
Eddie can process that this is starting to go sideways but the high is pleasant and blurring his lines, so he looks up at Dustin, “a Steve Harrington fan club? A bit. Stevie is pretty boy! How can we not? He’s nice and sunshine in human form, he’s just so so good! And and and gorgeous!”
He sighs and closes his eyes, “so kissable tooooooooo”
Everyone else in the have very different reactions. Jeff, Gareth, Frankie all shrug and nod. Mike and Lucas look a little disappointed and annoyed, Dustin’s the only one that doesn’t seem to either agree or disagree. He looks both happy and grossed out. Eddie’s head is floating away, he can’t really process any of this information. And he’s not gonna ask questions in this state or answer more questions.
“Sooo, I gotta admit, was not expecting this”
Eddie’s stomach does a flip as his eyes fly open and when they focus, there, standing in the doorway with his arms crossed and a smile or maybe a smirk- maybe neither? Eddie’s can’t tell. It’s very, very nice. He does know that at least.
Steve is very, very pretty. Especially as he moves into the room, “Seeeee, Henderson? Ain’t he just gorgeous?”
Dustin looks between them, shaking his head before turning to the others, the ones not currently high. “Seriously?”
Frankie shrugs again, “I mean, Ed isn’t wrong. Thought I’d be over it, but here I am anyway.”
Jeff nodded and Gareth rolled his eyes, “we tried keeping between us only”
The new members frowned, while Dustin and Steve stared at each other. Steve fighting back a laugh, while Dustin already cracked a smile before looking back at Eddie, who’s head is finally floating back down and he’s started to sit back up.
“Oh. Oh man. I did-” Eddie looked between everyone, face turning bright red as he closes his eyes and blinking before meeting Steve’s eyes, “fuccccck, dude- I,”
There’s a glint in Steve’s gaze, his laugh dying but a smile staying in it’s place, “Picked a great day to hang around, maybe we can do all of that again some day?”
“What?”
Eddie sees the younger boys snap their heads to look at Steve, Dustin’s the only one to smile and bounce in his place. The older boys are glaring at him, Eddie can tell even without looking, green isn’t really their color.
Steve’s face hasn’t moved though, still looking at him and definitely smirking.
“Let’s try the complaints and pretty names again, Eddie baby” Steve says, and Eddie cannot believe his ears.
Eddie can tell he looks dumb but he nods and nods and nods as his smile grows, “I can come up with so many. So many, Sunshine, Darling, just you wait!”
(His best friends are both very jealous and very happy for him. And they’ll eventually with time, joke about this and play try getting Steve to themselves. Eddie will always win at the end. Someday it’ll come out that Steve was just waiting for the day for the guts to ask Eddie out. Robin let’s Eddie and the guys in on that secret.)
~ ~
Like I said I don’t know where this was going it kinda wrote itself. I… don’t know how it got this long. Also Lucas and Mike look annoyed because that’s their babysitter. It gross. Dustin’s happy because it’s his big brother. 😌

Lack of Faith (Eddie Munson)
Tumblr media
Summary: Eddie Munson. Dungeon Master, Rock Star Wannabe, King of the Freaks and the Nerds. Can you believe that he doesn't like Star Wars?
Characters: Eddie Munson, Corroded Coffin, Wayne Munson, Dustin Henderson, Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair
Themes/Warnings: Our nerdy boy being a nerd, and his nerdlings making him worse, Star Wars references, might borrow some dialogue from the movie Fanboys (2009), boys will be boys, angst-ish, hurt/comfort-ish?, friendship, reference to some FOI characters, don't worry about it.
Note: This has been a thought that's lingered in my mind for quite some time as I am a HUGE Star Wars fan. And a little talk with @br0ck-eddie today (an unrelated topic) brought this back to the forefront of my mind. Tagging @fracturedarkness and @courtingchaos for no reason other than "you'll like it."
This is not an xReader fic. This is about Eddie and Star Wars and if you nerf-herders can't accept that, you can get the kriff out of here. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT JIZZ IS, KEEP FUCKING MOVING NORMIE.
You can find my masterlist here.
Please do not interact if you are not 18+.
Enjoy!
---
It was a normal lunch period.
Well, as normal as it could be when you sat at Hellfire Club's table in the cafeteria. There was no talk of homework, or dates, or crushes.
Instead Gareth was tapping a beat against the edge of the table with two unsharpened No.2 pencils, Dave was working on a new character sheet with Eddie after he suffered a tragic and untimely death during their last session, and the freshman were arguing about something down at their end of the table.
Their heads were bent together, occasionally Mike would throw his head back and groan, and then get right back to his furious whispers. And although Eddie, gracious and fearless leader that he was, was typically grateful that they kept their mindless drivel to themselves, today he was curious.
He could hear little tidbits of their conversation and they intrigued him enough:
"...they still kissed."
"That was to make Han jealous."
"That was the second time, what about the first time?"
"The first time they were about to die!" Dustin got to his feet now, staring at Mike with wide, incredulous eyes. "They were swinging ten-thousand feet in the air!"
"Hey!" Eddie shouted at them now, as kids at the surrounding tables started to stare and laugh. And usually, yes, he'd flip them off, tell them to mind their own business. Pull the whole freak card to get them to look away. The freshman needed to learn when to not place a target on their own backs; he hopefully wouldn't be here to protect them forever. "Shut up! Sit down!"
The three boys immediately clamped their mouths shut and Dustin sunk back into his seat as the older boys snickered.
"What's so important that you're about to start throwing punches over there?" Eddie questioned. The boys seemingly made themselves smaller and Eddie had to sigh. "Come on, I'm not gonna bite your heads off."
The entirety of Hellfire Club shot a skeptical look at him and his rolled his eyes.
"M-maybe you can help us," Mike suggested. "We're in the middle of a debate."
"A debate? What kind of debate?"
"One of the utmost importance," Dustin said desperately. "Because Mike is insane."
"I am not! You're the one who's lost it. 'There's something innate.' Did we even watch the same movie?"
The boys all started to bicker again, louder this time, and Eddie needed to whistle to get them to quit it.
"See that's not very helpful. Why don't you tell me what movie, and what the problem is, and I can offer final and absolute judgement."
"Because you're right all the time," Jeff muttered under his breath to Gareth, causing Eddie to toss an eraser at him good-naturedly.
"Star Wars," the three freshman all answered simultaneously, and then they started talking over each other about whether Luke and Leia knew they were siblings when they kissed or if he had a thing for Leia and if Han was really weirded out by it all when he found out.
They were so caught up in their explanation that they didn't notice the members of Corroded Coffin get all tense, or the way that Eddie began to clench his fists and grit his teeth.
Until aforementioned lead guitarist stood up himself and hauled his backpack over his shoulder. They all stared at him, his bandmates with fearful eyes, and the freshman with hopeful ones.
"Easy," Eddie answered with a sardonic smile. "Star Wars is a dumb shit movie and you shouldn't waste your breath arguing over it."
And he walked past his friends just as the bell rang signaling the end of the period.
---
"What do you mean you don't like Star Wars?"
"Drop it Henderson."
"Is it...are you more of a Trek fan? Is that it?"
"It's not--"
"Because it's ok if you are! I like Star Trek too. I got Vulcan ears for Christmas last year and I have the new Klingon dictionary on hold at Waldenbooks. Pretty sure I'm already better at it than Latin."
"Do you not understand the meaning of drop it?" Eddie slammed his locker shut and stared at the younger boy. "I just don't like it. It's...it's--"
"It's a cultural phenomena!" Dustin cut him off. "It's only the most detailed and expansive fictional universes I've ever experienced. Even better than Tolkien."
"That's blasphemy," Eddie scoffed.
"Ok maybe not Tolkien," Dustin conceded, hands held out innocently. "But seriously, it's insane. I thought that you'd be all over it. I was gonna even talk to you about helping me plan a small one-shot for Lucas' birthday set in the Star Wars universe. I would DM!"
Eddie, though annoyed with the topic conversation, fondly pushed the bill of Dustin's hat over his eyes.
"Come on!"
"Listen I'll help you," Eddie promised. "Whatever you wanna cook up for Sinclair's birthday, I'm your guy. I'll even get the guys to come and play if you want a bigger group. Just anything but Star Wars ok?"
He started to walk away but Dustin was hot on his heels, dodging other students left and right to stay in-step with Eddie.
"Why not? Just give me one good reason why you don't like Star Wars, and I'll drop it. Is it because Obi-Wan wasn't secretly Luke's father? Or..." He fumbled over his words, struggling to find a reason that his friend didn't like one of his favorite series. "Or...because Wedge was a better pilot than Luke but somehow Luke was the star of the Rebel Alliance."
"Stop it now."
"Do you not like C-3P0? No one likes C-3P0! Wait...is that your favorite character and you don't like the movie because everyone else hates him?"
Dustin was sure he'd hit the nail on the head and offered explanations and tried to convince Eddie that he was all wrong. And all of it fell on annoyed ears until Eddie, at his wits end, turned and grabbed Dustin by the shoulders. He stopped them dead in their tracks in the middle of the hallway, uncaring of the other students groans and insults as they pushed past.
"I don't like Star Wars," Eddie said through gritted teeth, a sense of finality in his words so the subject could be dropped once and for all. "Because I've never seen the movies. And I don't want to. They're overhyped, and dumb, and just a way to get little idiots like you to spend their money on posters and action figures and life savers."
"Lightsabers," Dustin corrected him, but then backtracked. "Wh--Eddie? What do you mean? You have to have seen them! Ed...Eddie wait!"
The metalhead let him go and the quickly retreated into the crowd leaving Dustin to call after him, confused.
---
Of course, news spread to the other freshman quickly. Dustin was devastated, Lucas was lost, and Mike felt betrayed that his role model--loose definition--hadn't seen the movies that shaped him as a person to this day. Shaped all of them.
Into nerds.
Even Max was surprised to hear that her neighbor hadn't seen it, as she was dragged to the depths of the Wheeler's basement along with the boys to discuss how this all could have happened.
They thought of everything. Body swaps and mind control. A curse! Mike was dead set on Eddie being a die-hard trekkie and, as someone who disliked the Trek himself, got irrationally angry about it.
"I swear he didn't even bat an eye when I told him about the Klingon!" Dustin exclaimed. "I just...I don't know."
"Well have you asked the rest of the geek patrol?" Max questioned, and all the boys turned to stare at her. "If Eddie hates it so much that he doesn't want to talk about it, the others have known him for a lot longer than any of us have. They're bound to know something right?"
"See this?" Dustin snapped his fingers and pointed at her. "This is why we need you in Hellfire. Eddie wouldn't be able to trick us anymore, you'd see right through it."
"Not gonna happen," she deadpanned.
The boys protested her refusal to play DnD with them, but took her advice and ran with it.
For a solid week, they pestered Jeff, Gareth, and Dave. And for a solid week, the older boys refused to budge. They tried everything. Bribes, blackmail, threats.
"You think," Gareth laughed when the boys cornered him outside the locker room before PE. "That I'm gonna tell you anything after you threaten to have Steve Harrington beat me up? That guy might've been a big douchebag few years ago, but I know he's a loser working at Family Video now."
All hope was lost as he was about to head to class. Until Mike spotted someone out of the corner of his eye, leaving the athletics hall for their next class, and he was struck with inspiration. He called out to Gareth.
"What if I can get you one of my sister's bras?"
Gareth skidded to a halt and looked over his shoulder with shock and, surprisingly, intrigue.
"...go on," he nodded.
Thus, a negotiation was made before the coach blew his whistle. And a few days later after school, at the picnic table out in the woods behind the football field, the exchange took place.
"Gimme the goods," Gareth held his hand out for his bounty.
"Story first, bra later," Lucas scoffed at him. "Otherwise what's to stop you from taking it and leaving."
Gareth clenched his hands and then let out a long-suffering sigh.
"At least lemme see what color it is."
The three freshman ducked their heads together to discuss the risks, and then Mike unzipped his backpack and flashed the tiniest peak of pastel purple lace at him.
"Nice," Gareth nodded. "Alright! You better not have anywhere else to go, we're gonna be here for a little while."
"My mom's not coming to get us until 6," Dustin agreed.
Gareth then took the time to weave the tale. One he heard from Jeff, who heard it from some guy named Dougie, who heard it from a girl named Ronnie, who only knew about it because she was there.
"It's his closely kept secret," Gareth explained. "Ronnie was still here when I was a freshman, and she wouldn't say shit about it. Which is why this can never make it back to me."
"We swear," the boys said simultaneously, and all crossed their hearts.
Apparently, Eddie had been all excited for the very first Star Wars movie when it first premiered. He saw the posters for it at the Hawk and babbled on and on about what it might be about. He'd always been a little interested in space, thanks to Star Trek--
"I knew it!" Dustin exclaimed.
"God damn it!" Mike cursed. "He's a Trekkie!"
"Are you gonna let me tell this story?" Gareth hissed.
"Sorry," Lucas apologized and slugged both of his friends in the arm.
--and he thought Star Wars was gonna be the next big thing. He was sure of it. Not only that, it was gonna be his new favorite thing. He was hesitant to ask his dad to buy tickets for the two of them to go and see the movie together. What with money being tight and his dad's unreliable presence. Still, he heard that the local radio station was giving two tickets away and he called and called and called until he won them.
"Wow," Mike was awestruck. "Two tickets for the opening day of Star Wars. Can you imagine? What a lucky son of a bitch."
"Uh," Dustin watched Gareths shifting eyes and pursed lips. "Mike I think you're forgetting something."
"What?"
"He didn't see it, dipshit," Gareth sneered. "Duh. Isn't that the whole point of you guys bothering me with this? Did you forget?"
Eddie, excited for the day, told his dad, Al, two weeks in advance. He and Ronnie had picked up the tickets for the show after school one afternoon, lying to Ronnie's grandma about having detention. And Al Munson, father of the year, promised that he would be around to take Eddie.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world," he said and flashed his charming smile at his young and hopeful son. "We can make a day of it, how's that? You got the tickets, I've got dinner at Benny's afterwards. And you can get a sundae for dessert."
Eddie was over the moon, happy that his dad was finally excited for something that he enjoyed. He couldn't be bothered with Lord of the Rings or Narnia or any of the other stories that Eddie enjoyed, but he was excited for this. Probably because it had Wars in it. But that was ok. Beggars couldn't be choosers.
And then the morning finally came. A Wednesday in May, almost time for summer break. Al was sitting on the couch looking at something in the newspaper and Eddie reminded him about the movie before he left to catch the school bus. Al simply patted him on the head and promised to pick him up at 3 so they'd have plenty of time to get a good seat and watch the previews.
"And then the asshole never showed up," Gareth scoffed and broke all the kids hearts.
They didn't know a whole lot about Eddie's dad; he purposefully said precious little except that he was in jail and "belonged there, good riddance." If a good word was said about anyone in Eddie's family, it was said about his uncle Wayne. And even then it was scarce. Hearing this whole story though instantly put a bad taste in their mouths about the elder Munson.
Gareth continued the story, telling them how Eddie sat at one of the picnic tables for his dad until Ronnie and her grandma offered to drive him to the theater so at least he could see the movie. Ronnie even offered to see it with him. But Eddie refused.
"He was sure that his dad was coming. Waited there for hours. Until the movie had started, and then was over. And then he walked home alone."
"But..." Mike frowned. "But then why didn't he try again? Why didn't he go to see it when Empire came out...or...or Lucas...remember when your dad took us to see Return of the Jedi a couple years ago? And we tried to get him to take us all to the midnight showing of the whole trilogy?"
"Yeah! He told us we were crazy for wanting to sit there for 8 whole hours."
"But he didn't wanna see it," Gareth shook his head. "That's the whole point. His dad pissed him off, and now...he's written it all off. He refuses, because...I guess he doesn't wanna admit how upset he was. I don't even know if he cried! Ronnie never told anyone what happened afterwards. We all just know not to say anything about Star Wars around him."
Gareth got his bounty in the end and left, and the three freshman all sat there, defeated.
"I almost wish he was a trekkie," Mike said sadly.
"My dad's left us and it's still somehow not that bad," Dustin whispered.
"Listen," Lucas straightened his shoulders and looked at his friends. "This...man it really sucks, but we can't just give up. Eddie deserves to know all the ups and downs of Star Wars. He would love it. Probably more than the three of us combined. Hell, even Max thought so!"
The other boys nodded in agreement and sat upright as Lucas got to his feet.
"Are we just gonna sit here and let our friend who always looks out for us miss out on the best thing that he's ever seen just cuz his dad's a big asshole? Or are we gonna look out for him too?"
Mike and Dustin clapped and cheered and whooped.
And then the three of them got out their notebooks and began to scheme.
---
Eddie rang the doorbell of the Wheeler's house and waited silently on the porch, hands fiddling with the small gift and binder in his hands.
9am was too fucking early for a birthday party, in his opinion, but for the kids--for Lucas--and for Dungeons and Dragons...eh...he could stand to lose some sleep on a Saturday.
As long as they were done by 7 so he could go make a few bucks at Matt Donovan's party over on Elm. He'd lose out on sleep, but not cash.
The door opened and a tired-looking Ted Wheeler looked Eddie up and down with a sigh, then waved him in.
"They're all downstairs," he droned. "Snacks and sodas in the kitchen. Karen's gone to the store to get more. We're ordering pizza for lunch and there'll be cake a little later."
"Great," Eddie gave him a stiff nod. "Thanks."
Ted grumbled something about "having enough birthday parties for his own three kids let alone their friends too" and Eddie rolled his eyes.
Asshole.
He kicked off his sneakers in the pile by the stairs to the basement and then shuffled down the steps, eager to join his favorite group of idiots for a day of fantasy escapism.
And he was excited; it had been a while since he'd gotten to play one of his characters and Dustin had put together a fantastic campaign for Lucas.
Only...when Eddie got to the basement, he was in for a shock.
No tables and chairs, no dice, no maps or figures. No binders or books or character sheets. Nothing.
Just his friends all sitting together on and around the couch facing the tv set that had been set up in front of it.
With lightsabers in their hands.
They all cheered when they saw Eddie, Lucas the loudest of all.
Well, not all of them. Jeff, Gareth, and Dave all looked about ready to run. Especially when they saw the scathing look on Eddie's face.
"You're finally here!" Lucas laughed. "You're late.
"Happy Birthday," Eddie deadpanned and threw the gift to him. "What the hell is going on here?"
"What does it look like?" Dustin snarked. "It's Lucas' birthday."
"It was supposed to be Dungeons and Dra--"
"Well, I changed my mind," Lucas said smugly. "I thought...you know what, save it for the summer so we can make it longer than just a one-off campaign. Dustin worked really hard on it after all."
Eddie couldn't deny that. Still he glared at the plastic...toys that the boys all held.
"And you just happened to pick Star Wars?" he asked, arms crossed over his chest as he eyed them all skeptically.
"It's my favorite," Lucas insisted. "Not the first time I've had a Star Wars themed party. First time we're watching the trilogy all the way through though."
"Yeah cuz someone fell asleep last time we tried," Dustin jabbed Mike in the shoulder with his lightsaber pointedly.
"That's why we're starting so early this time," Mike parried with a jab to Dustin's stomach.
"So," Lucas stared Eddie down with challenge in his eyes. "Are you just gonna stand there and ruin my party? Or are you gonna sit down? Because we're never gonna get to Empire by the time the pizza gets here if we don't start soon."
Eddie stared at the hopeful expressions in all of his friends--his little sheeps--faces. Even the ones who were familiar with his feelings about the franchise.
And he weighted his options.
Eddie was a man who abided by the code. He'd gotten burned to many times in life not to. And that code included things like never trust your dad, rich people are assholes, popular girls are bad news. Somewhere in that list though, between always change your underwear when you think they're still clean and shake the can of soda before you hand it to your friends was never watch Star Wars.
It'd been that way for years.
But since the start of the school year, since Eddie had met these three kids...he'd started changing his code.
Steve Harrington wasn't an asshole. Well he used to be, but he proved that he could change.
Not all popular girls were bad news. Nancy was helping him work towards a better grade in biology and the student council president had slipped her number into Eddie's locker the other day.
And while there might be things that would never change--his father wasn't trustworthy, end of story--he figured...for his friends he might be able to bend some of his self-imposed rules.
Eddie sighed and looked at television screen with the words A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away... frozen, and he felt a little pang in his heart.
And if he could do things like that for his friends...
His inner 10-year old self was sitting at that picnic table still, waiting for the van to pull into the parking lot. Only this time, he wasn't left high and dry. This time a much older Eddie drove up and popped open the van doors for little Eddie to hop in. They could finally fulfill this dream together.
...he certainly could do things like that for himself.
"Alright," he closed the distance and pushed his way through his friends so he could plop front and center on the floor in front of the television. He tried to keep the sour attitude, but as a blue plastic lightsaber was pressed into his hands, he couldn't help but crack a smile. "Let's see what all the hype is about."
The group cheered and Gareth pressed play on the remote.
And as the swell of music began and STAR WARS flashed on the screen, Eddie said aloud...
"Hey guys, what if it sucks?"

More top 23 in '23
I make a looooooot of sims, as most of you know. I decided to take yesterday's tag and expand it a bit. So here are 23 of my favorite sims I created or remixed.
This is Lu! You've sorta kinda met him already through random pics I posted, but we'll meet him officially soon in The Piersons and Friends.

2. Leland Sinclair 😍
Tumblr media
3. Danika "Dani" James (a.k.a "rude girl) lol
Tumblr media
4. I don't remember this dude's name, but he sure is fine!

5. She is the CAS premade with the sunglasses and head wrap.
Tumblr media
6. I don't remember his name either, but I think he is adorable!
Tumblr media
7. Another CAS premade.
Tumblr media
8. I saw this hair and had to make a sim. I think I accidentally made a simself for Donald Glover lol.
Tumblr media
9. Matthew Tidwell. This was a hideous townie I saved. He's married to Mel's fan/stan from the club.
Tumblr media
10. I made a series of Asian sims when EA gave us those new presets. She is my fav.
Tumblr media
11. If this ever makes it into the Pierson save, she is going to be Nadia's biggest fan. The way I dressed her is very reminiscent of Nadia's style, so that will be part of her story if it comes to it.
Tumblr media
12. Another one of my new Asian sims. Personality-wise, she is the exact opposite of the other chick, and I would love to see them attempt to become friends lol.
Tumblr media
13. This is, Pierce Burton, one of the 5 minute sims I made in my tutorial with CC. He also had a cameo in @mysimsloveaffair's story.
Tumblr media
14. The sim from the how to make sims' parents video with CC.
Tumblr media
15. I think she's supposed to be a CAS premade but I don't recall which one.
Tumblr media
16. One of my vanilla cuties no longer vanilla. 😍
Tumblr media
17. Her name is Princess, and she is one of my favorite sims I've made with my random method. I was hoping she'd be imported to meet Luca, but Sophia's got him occupied lol.
Tumblr media
18. A rare vanilla cutie that I actually prefer vanilla.
Tumblr media
19. I made this sim for @trumpets0ng because she loved my basketball player Josef Ibarra but he wasn't a good match for her sim. So I created a brother for him who is unofficially Adam Rodriguez's simself lol.
Tumblr media
20. This sim (and hair) was created by @khadijah551. I downloaded a few of her sims to see what they would look like without the alpha skins. 😍
Tumblr media
21. Another khadijah sim. I love him the best!
Tumblr media
22. The last sim by khadijah. He looked like a family guy so he has a fiancé and a baby now lol.
Tumblr media
23. The last sim I made. I think I have plans for him. 😍

The wild boys are calling On their way back from the fire
Monday, March 31st - 1986
Spring break had come and gone in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana and, surprisingly enough, the world hadn’t ended. Yet, thought Dustin Henderson as he parked his bike outside Hawkins High School. He knew something had happened between Mike and El during his friend’s visit to California (and between Mike and Will too for that matter), but if their phone calls were to be trusted, everything had been smoothed out without the need for his intervention. For once, Dustin was glad he didn’t have to be the group’s self-appointed mediator; he already had enough with the guilt he felt for causing Suzie to lose her computer, he didn’t need extra problems on his shoulders. And he deserved a normal school year for once, goddamnit. Those hadn’t been common for any of them in a long time.
As he hurried to get to his classroom, he crossed paths with Lucas Sinclair and his Championship-winning friends proudly wearing their basketball team jackets over their regular clothes. If the newly popular boy had seen him walk by, he hadn’t given any indications as to it, not one look, not one wave. Dustin wasn’t entirely sure why anyone would enjoy hiding themselves behind a Tigers uniform but he sincerely hoped that once Jason, the captain of the team and current King of Hawkins High, graduated in mid June, Lucas would return to them from the dark side. For now though it seemed that he was perfectly content in his jock cult, and Dustin wasn’t about to give his new buddies a chance to throw him into a dumpster by walking into their huddle near the water fountains just to say hello to his (now former?) best friend.
The morning went by rather quickly for his tastes, and he could feel Mike’s anxious leg bounces next to him during Geography as lunch approached without any regard for their heart rates. Both teens had opened their lockers to find a folded black handmade card announcing the start of their next D&D adventure and they were painfully aware that a very uncomfortable conversation was about to unfold at the cafeteria. Their beloved Dungeon Master, for all his enthusiasm and kind-hearted nature, wasn’t very troubled by his social status as the school’s pariah and Mike’s suspicions that he hadn’t immediately considered Lucas a goner following recent events had been confirmed when he saw the subject in question throw his own black card into a bin at the start of their shared Chemistry class. His worst fear had also been confirmed when Lucas chose to sit at a different table than normal, forcing him to pair up with a rather dull girl with wild hair who was clearly not as interested in lab safety as she should have been. Her lab coat sleeve had caught on fire twice by the time the bell rang.
“I say we run,” Dustin proposed, clutching at his hard plastic food tray like it was a shield.
“Dustin. I am not having lunch in the bathroom again,” Mike countered, remembering their middle school days and having to hide from bullies.
“You know, it’s great that you mention that because I don’t think we are ever gonna be able to eat again after we tell Eddie Lucas is officially gone.”
“Come on, he’s not stupid, he knows how things work in Hawkins. I’m sure he was expecting him to leave anyway,” said Mike, completely unconvinced.
“Mike, this club is his baby and Lucas just spit in its face. In his baby’s face,” he said dramatically.
“We’ll be fine. We have Erica now. He’s not gonna care if we already have a replacement.”
“Great, we’re trading big Sinclair for little Sinclair. Fan-fucking-tastic.”
The curly haired boy trailed behind his taller friend on the way to their usual table where their fellow club members were already sitting, picking at their sad school provided lunches. Jeff said something to make Donny snort and choke on his can of Coke; a group of girls walking past them eyed him with disgust while Gareth cackled with glee.
“Hello, boys,” said Eddie, sitting at his usual spot: the head of the table. He looked up at them from behind his book. “Have a nice Spring break? Did you get enough smooches to last until summer, Wheeler?”
“It was alright,” Mike answered, wiping his palms on his jeans. He knew Eddie meant no harm, but his relationship would never be his favorite topic to talk about with the other guys of the Hellfire Club. He didn’t think anyone at the table except Dustin would understand him dating a literal human experiment with superpowers that had saved the world multiple times.
“You know, I’m starting to think your girlfriend isn’t real,” Jeff teased.
“Yeah, you never talk about her, we don’t even know her name. Are you sure you didn’t imagine her?” Gareth narrowed his eyes, a light smile never leaving his face.
“Her name is El- Jane. Her name is Jane,” he quickly corrected himself. “She’s totally real, Dustin knows her.”
“Yeah, Jane is… awesome! She’s great,” he nodded, backing his friend up. “Total babe.”
“Dude!” Mike slapped his shoulder.
“What? I think Suzie is a babe. You don’t think your own girlfriend is a babe?”
“O-of course I do, what are you talking abou-”
“Children, children,” Eddie lifted a hand to stop the fight unfolding in front of him. “If Wheeler says she is real, she is real, alright?” he turned to look at Gareth, Jeff and Donny sitting to his right with matching grins on their faces. “It’s not like any of you three are swimming in ladies, so y’know, don’t throw stones if you live in glass houses.”
There were a few seconds of uncomfortable silence where everyone refused to look at each other and Eddie went back to his book: a very battered paperback with a lost cover that was probably hiding somewhere under the mess that was its owner’s bed. He was holding it with one hand, his other hand occasionally bringing a forkful of high school cafeteria mac and cheese to his mouth. It was clear to both Mike and Dustin that he was heavily invested in what he was reading; if they didn’t know him any better, they would have never guessed that under all that unruly hair and leather there was an excellent storyteller and magnificent Dungeon Master. For all everyone knew, he was reading something for his English class but the Hellfire Club boys could tell by now that whenever Eddie had a book around, he was planning something terrible for their characters to go through during their weekly session.
Dustin was trying very hard to focus on his peas and ignore Mike elbowing his side violently when a basketball bounced right in the middle of their table, startling everyone and sending soda cans flying, liquid spilling everywhere. There was loud laughter as one of the Tigers retrieved the ball that was stuck to Gareth’s mac and cheese; Jason, the captain, high-fived whoever was standing next to him as if he had just witnessed the biggest prank of the year. When he turned around, Lucas, sitting at the jocks’ table, sent them a half-assed apologetic glance and went back to his new friends. Wordlessly, Eddie pushed his tray in front of Gareth, who stopped trying to dry the table with the few napkins he had and went back to eating from his new lunch with burning red ears. As the elder leaned forward to steal back his unopened cup of pudding from the tray, he noticed a pair of eyes following him from a nearby table.
He didn’t recognize who it was, but the girl was staring at their table with a furrowed brow, something resembling sadness crystal clear on her face. She turned around to look at the basketball team’s table, shook her head, adjusted her headphones and went back to the textbook in front of her like nothing had happened. It wasn’t often that someone looked at their table like they didn’t deserve the disrespect they got. Making up his mind, Eddie put his book down and crossed his fingers, his rings clinking against each other.
“I think it goes without saying that Lucas Sinclair is no longer welcome in The Hellfire Club,” he said, resolute. “Guess that means you two will have to find someone to replace him. I’ll give you until Friday.”
“But we already have Erica!” Mike said, flinching at the shoe that kicked his shin from under the table.
“While I like the kid and she has more nerve than any of you combined, my newest campaign requires seven players. I’m not gonna rework it because Big Time Sinclair can’t grow a backbone.”
“Eddie, man,” Dustin started, trying to flatter him. “Six players is already too much to handle. Let us make this easier for you. We don’t need a seventh, right, guys?” he looked at Gareth across the table searching for support.
“Uh,” the teen glanced at his friend and leader, words dying in his throat as Eddie tilted his head towards him, sharp eyed and tense.
“Can’t you just ask the redhead you’re always hanging around to join?”
“We’ve asked, she’s not interested,” Mike deflated visibly.
“She has a lot going on,” Dustin said quickly, protecting Max’s honor. “Her brother died last year, she’s still processing.”
“Hargrove, right?” Donny said. “Man, that guy was a piece of trash but at least he kept Jason busy and away from us for a while.”
“I’m sure you two will find someone suitable to replace your little friend if you wanna keep playing with us. And no more middle schoolers. We aren’t running a daycare here,” Eddie smiled in a way that told everyone the conversation was done. “Now if you’ll excuse me, little lambs, I have business transactions waiting to happen.”
With that, the long haired leader disappeared from the cafeteria carrying the metal lunchbox where he kept his, ahem, products in one hand, the book he had been reading still open and the untouched pudding cup in the other one. The other members of the club scattered as they finished their lunch and went back to their routines, leaving Mike and Dustin at the table, heads in their hands, forgotten mac and cheese now sticky and cold.
“We are so screwed,” Dustin said, and Mike couldn’t help but agree.

If they had used my Vecna song for Max’s big scene.
Seriously, I love many songs, but this one is definitely a recurring favorite. When I first discovered it, I swear it was the only song I listened to for almost a year. It just gives me a happy-go-lucky feeling, but at the same time the message is pretty melancholy.

please don't take my sunshine away // em
warning; language obviously, violence, the slightest mention of blood, mentions of death, basically everything stranger things
summary; eddie munson never thought he'd fall in love until you moved back to Hawkins. (eddie munson x fem!reader)
word count; 5k+
CONTAINS STRANGER THINGS 4 SPOILERS
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson was content before you moved to Hawkins. Back to Hawkins. He had the hellfire club and the new Beastie Boys single that he couldn’t get out of his head. Graduation was in site and girls were the last thing on his mind, until Chrissy.
Eddie the freak with Chrissy the cheerleader. It didn’t make any sense, which is exactly why no one knew about it. After all, Chrissy’s life was already messily entangled with Jason Carver's. Now that made sense: star athlete of Hawkins High with the head cheerleader. They were happy, together for the better part of a year and all smiles on all fronts.
Smiles weren’t a tell all though, especially not for Chrissy and Jason. While everyone thought the two to be in a true and innocent love, Jason was in love with himself and Chrissy was left to fend for hers. This happened to be where Eddie fit perfectly into her story. The boy no one expected to sweep the girl off her feet in a matter of days.
It was a perfect story, a perfect cover.
But Chrissy was never going to leave Jason, and Eddie was never going to be able to give himself to the girl that thought she was this close to having it all. Eddie acted out more and Chrissy shied away from him just as he expected her to. She ran right back into the arms of Jason and while nobody noticed a single thing out of place, Eddie was swallowing his sorrow.
So no, Eddie didn’t need another girl moving to Hawkins to reign in on his club and occupy his space. He put a quick end to the welcoming committee his friends seemed to be forming for you; he put his foot down.
“No fuckin’ way man. We’re not having some new chick move in right in the middle of a campaign.” He ignored the dramatic eye roll Dustin shot him in response and instead directed his attention to your biggest fan.
“C’mon man. She can take my place! You said we can’t postpone it, so let y/n step in for me!” Lucas honestly didn’t give a shit if he was a part of the campaign or not. He needed this in with the basketball team and he wasn’t going to let Eddie jeopardize that.
But Lucas also knew that Eddie was more complicated than accepting such a simple declaration. You had to twist things so he’d believe he came up with them on his own. Mike had told Lucas this more times than he could possibly count but it never made a difference. He tried to stand up to the senior with slumped shoulders and desperate eyes.
“Forget it Sinclair. You’re going to be there on Friday.”
Aside from the fact that he was being unreasonable with Lucas's game, he wasn't completely acting like himself. Nobody could quite understand why Eddie was so stern on turning you away. They’d made a great case for you; Lucas went on and on about how you used to babysit him and Erica with little to no rules as long as they stayed safe. Dustin told the story Steve loved to tell about you two walking two miles home after a long night of drinking.
They figured Eddie would be excited about you coming back to town. He may have never met you but in their eyes you were just his type. You wore ripped jeans before mini skirts, and your favorite top was an oversized zeppelin shirt that you’d worn out years ago.
No matter what they pitched Eddie wasn’t having it. He was convinced you’d be another stuffy Hawkins girl that took a vacation overseas for a few years. A military brat. You couldn’t be much more than any other girl Eddie had met and blown off at one point or another.
It wasn’t until you pulled up to the school in a beat up bronco with Motley Crue pouring out of your speakers that he thought he may have misjudged you.
When Steve Harrington approached your car with a drumroll on the hood Eddie’s face turned sour; not that he didn’t know you were tangled in the mess of a group that the kids were in the middle of. Steve and Eddie just didn’t click. Eddie struggled to shake the image of Steve he’d adapted back in freshman year.
He didn’t quite catch sight of you at first. As soon as you stepped out of the car you were wrapped in thick arms that hid your face from the distant observer. Steve was practically suffocating you after not seeing you in however long it was that you’d been gone.
Eddie wanted to say that he wasn’t interested and leave it at that. An old car and one good song wasn’t going to make you invincible.
Not until he saw you.
Your bright smile that lit up the parking lot of a school he never seemed to see before now. A faded band tee he couldn’t quite make out but the holes in the bottom told him you didn’t give a shit about new or expensive things.
He’s sure your shoes were once white but they certainly weren’t anymore. Dirt coated the soles and the laces had surely seen better days. Your jeans were as ripped as they’d said they’d be. He couldn’t make out the color of your eyes but he knew that they looked right through him once your feet had finally touched the floor.
You stuttered in your movements, catching a mere glimpse of the boy that looked like he didn’t belong here. Not at the fault of his own but rather everyone else’s. Steve ripped your attention away from him though, insisting you meet Robin, the girl he never stopped writing about. Nancy didn’t take long to come running over with outstretched arms and stories to tell about Jonathan.
You were hoping the boy you’d seen would be someone they’d force you to meet. Maybe he'll come walking over and introduce himself in the charming way you’re certain he possesses. He never did though, and when you went looking for him it’s like there’d never been anyone there in the first place.
It only took you until lunch to see the kids, the ones you insisted were all grown up since you’d last seen them. You’d only been gone two years, glad to see that Max was still hanging around despite everything you’d heard about the last few months. You gave her a tight hug, despite not knowing her long before you left and hardly ever speaking to her brother. She appreciated it, held onto you a little longer than you expected and gave you the sweetest smile after you let go.
Dustin grabbed your hand then, and you felt a skip in your heart as he started blabbering about how “you absolutely have to meet Eddie”. Not sure how you could ever be so lucky you hoped it was the boy from the parking lot. The long hair and jean jacket were enough to have you hooked on a single glance.
You watched him leap up into a chair at the sight of you, arms extended and a cheesy grin slapped across his face.
“You must be y/n. The living legend that these dweebs never shut up about.” you glanced over your shoulder at the multiple tables watching the grand gesture and let out a soft sigh. Eddie was delighted to see a bright smile slide across your face when you turned back to him, seemingly not embarrassed in the slightest.
"And you're Eddie. Lead guitarist of the best band in the world." he perked up at that and leaned into you ever so slightly.
"And what band is that sunshine?" you let out a short laugh at the nickname you wouldn't admit you kinda liked.
"Van Halen, of course." he let out a proud laugh then and jumped down to stand in front of you. "But I take it I'm not the first person that's called out the likeness between you two."
"And you surely won't be the last." he flashed his famously bright smile that was already growing on you and bowed dramatically.
“Oh there’s no need for all that.” you spoke through a laugh that only made his smile grow.
“Trust me, with the way these guys talk about you it is.” the perfect roll of your eyes had him hooked, bending at the thought that maybe there was a perfect soul in this hopeless world.
Sitting with you through lunch only made him fall harder for you than he already had. Words seemed to glide off your tongue like they were meant to be spoken by you. Stories that he would otherwise find boring and meaningless had him covering his mouth through fits of laughter. He was lost in you and everyone but you caught on to it. Max, who had easily known Eddie the least, could see the way his eyes seemed to rest on you for a second longer than need be.
You had Eddie Munson in a trance within a single day of knowing him. He never protested your appearances at things, never complained when someone mentioned you’d be showing up eventually. Dustin and Mike grew tired of him asking about you in your absence, but they always left with a smile on their face knowing their friends were destined to fall head over heels for one another.
The first time you asked Eddie out caught him completely off guard. It seemed so easy for you, how you just slipped it into the conversation. Not even asking him but suggesting it, as if you’d done it a hundred times before.
“We should go see it.” you swore you heard his neck crack when he whipped around to face you. Previously having his nose stuck so far into his magazine he wasn’t sure he’d heard you right.
“What?”
“Topgun? You want to see it, I want to see it. We should go see it.” your sickly sweet smile seemed to top it all off for him.
“Shit yeah, definitely. We should definitely go see it. Together, I mean. That’s what you meant, right?” you gently pressed your hand to his mouth and laughed at his nervous word vomit.
“Great.” you felt him smile beneath your hand and let it fall so you could see it once more, adding it to the dedicated slot that held every other smile he’d given you.
“Right now or?” you let out a loud laugh then, hands gripping his shoulders while he admired your joyful state.
“Friday?” he nodded at that, agreeing easily with any plan you were willing to make. “And maybe we don’t tell the kids?” he nodded quickly at that, finding that to be in the best interest of you both.
And while the movie was great, the two of you couldn’t wait for the credits to roll before your lips were intertwined. It was a sickly sweet kiss that Eddie wasn’t sure he’d ever get tired of. The warmth of your lips against his in the softest but most deliberate manner. He was higher on you than he'd ever been on any substance.
You were sure he was the most intoxicating thing you’d ever consumed. Lost in the way he gently cupped your cheek and smiled after every kiss, you hardly noticed the theater thinning out.
Before the end of the night Eddie had you lightly pressed into the side of his car with his hands on either side of your face and his lips pressed to yours with a fear he’d never feel them again. If this was the last night he got to hold you this close to him and feel your lips on his, he was going to make it count.
You were sure he was a figment of your imagination. He’d been in Hawkins his whole life, seemingly right under your nose for a massive portion of your life and you hadn’t even noticed. He flew right under your radar but that wouldn’t last long. Soon he’d be the light of your life and you weren’t doing anything to get in the way of that.
-
It stayed soft and sweet like that for a while. Secret rendezvous with feverish kisses that were always followed by infectious smiles. You’d drive the kids home from hellfire just to turn around and sneak back in through Eddie’s window. He’d rub your knee under the table or give your foot a soft nudge.
Surely your friends weren’t blind. They knew something was different. Truly, you were better at hiding it than Eddie could’ve ever been. He never flat out said something was up but he was suddenly nicer and noticeably happier. They chalked it up to you moving back, not knowing that there was anything deeper going on between the two of you.
And it could’ve gone on for a long time if you two had been smarter about it. You normally were, but an unexpected visit threw you for a loop.
Had it been a knock on the door you’d have had time to make a break for it. You could run down the hall in a matter of seconds; you’d done it before. It would’ve been alright had the three of them not busted through the doors with arms full of grocery bags like Santa Claus.
Dustin was the first to react, as always.
“Holy shit.” his bags fell to the floor at the sight of you sitting up on Eddie’s couch donned in a shirt he knows he’s seen Eddie wear. You caught the soft twitch of a smirk playing at his lips at the sight of you two looking dumbstruck.
“What the fuck is this?” your eyes went wide at Mike’s exclamation, instinctively sliding into the role of his older sister in Nancy’s absence.
“Mike!”
“No! You don’t get to do that when you’re half naked on Eddie’s couch!” You stood up then, watching his face twist into different expressions you couldn’t read for the life of you.
For a second you felt hopeless, like you’d been caught by your child. You weren’t sure how they’d handle it, hence the secrecy of it all, but you were hoping for something more than this.
“Mike-”
“Did it have to be a secret?”
“Mike, it's not that big of a deal.” Lucas muttered softly behind his friend, trying to shake him from the potential wall he was about to run into.
“It wouldn’t have been if it wasn’t all a big fat lie!” he stormed out after that, the room still behind him while no one moved or spoke.
You lunged for the shorts you had sitting on the chair across the room and ran outside behind the boy you used to babysit. He had an older sister that he was fairly close to now but before they had reached a point of interest between the two of them you were his older sister. In his eyes you were his older sister before Nancy and the fact that you were lying to him was killing him.
“Mike, please.” he stopped at the sound of your voice, half surprised you followed him out here. “I was going to tell you but I didn’t want… well this.”
“You said you’d never lie.” you felt your heart drop at that. You remembered the promise you made to him when he was a kid. When Nancy never told him a thing and all he wanted was a sibling to lean on. While Nancy was out with her friends you were spending your time taking care of Mike, something he wished Nancy wanted to do.
You told him you’d always be there for him. That you’d never bail on him like Nancy and that you’d surely never lie to him. Nancy always kept secrets; she thought Mike was too young, that he couldn’t handle things. He always appreciated that you treated him like an equal, not some kid that couldn’t hold his own.
“You said you’d always be there, and you left. You said you’d never bail and you’re never around anymore. You promised that you would never lie and you kept an entire part of your life a secret! Nancy’s busy, El’s gone, and you’re finally back. I thought I finally had a sister again and then this.”
“Mike-”
“Just leave me alone, y/n.” and you’re not sure why but you let him walk away. You watched his shoulders slump and his head fall and maybe all his trust in you leave right then and there.
You meant to talk to him before he left. He was supposed to let you plead your case and consider forgiving you but he left before you got there. You lost your chance to make it up to him, and it ate you up inside. You were sure you’d be spending your entire spring break grieving the potential loss of your only little brother.
You instead spent the first few days looking for Eddie. Unsure of what spooked him at first, you were doubting everything you thought the two of you had built. Maybe he didn’t know how to let you down easily so he ran. Instead you were thrown for a loop, one you couldn’t believe you were going through yet again.
“He didn’t do it.”
“Of course he didn’t do it. Nobody’s questioning that-”
“Everybody’s questioning that.” it was the first time you’d spoken in an hour. Your voice was scratchy and Dustin could see the dread rolling off you from a mile away. Mike was across the country, Lucas was MIA, Eddie was being accused of murder and you had no idea how to fix any of it.
“He’s okay y/n.” Steve was trying his best to give you any sort of comfort he could offer but it was seemingly useless until someone had a way to find him.
Naturally everyone expected you to seek him out. While your neighbors thought you were hiding him, your friends were picking your brain for anything that could help find him. Places you’d been over the last few days, anywhere he ran when things got tough. You didn’t know, obviously. As you told them too many times to count, if you’d known he’d be here by now.
When you finally did find Eddie you’d promised him you weren’t leaving his side. Didn’t matter that he thought you were being ridiculous, that it wasn’t possible to stick by his side through every phase of this thing. He didn’t know what you were in for but if you knew anything it’s that anyone on their own was a goner.
Eddie would never be alone.
So you stuck by his side. You waited for him to jump over after Steve, giving him the opportunity to bow out before things were irreversible.
He smiled at you after you’d said that; slid his hands up to cup your cheeks with his gentle touch. The metal wrapped around his fingers cooled your warm cheeks down as he pressed a soft kiss to your forehead.
“We’re already past that point, my love.”
You weren’t surprised to see him throw his entire being into it. If Eddie was fighting it was full force, non-stop. He didn’t do things lightly. You’d only known him for something close to six months but you knew that he’d never do anything half-assed.
Splitting into groups was fairly easy. Lucas being with Max was a no brainer, and Erica was the only other person that could get to Lucas on a different level. The three stooges couldn’t be separated without someone hearing about it all night and that left you with Eddie and Dustin.
Dustin was easy. He knew what he was doing and he didn’t struggle to tell the two of you to follow his lead. You’d been in this boat before, following Dustin Henderson to the end of the earth in order to save it. It wasn’t new to you, none of this was. But it was new to Eddie, and he hadn’t the faintest clue of how to stop any of this.
So he did what he knew best. He put his life on the line to protect those that he loves.
You’d followed Dustin up the makeshift rope, sure that you could bend down and help Eddie climb up faster than he could on his own. Dustin was safe and Eddie was right there.
But he cut the rope.
“Eddie, what are you doing?” Dustin’s voice pierced through your ears, your heart sunk at the color draining from Eddie’s face from below you. This couldn’t be happening.
“Giving you more time.” His sickly sweet smile seemed to clench your heart harder than you’d ever felt before.
Something about this time felt off. He wasn’t leaving to grab you guys a pizza or a six pack. You weren’t running down the street to check in with your mom before curfew. This wasn’t a run of the mill smile; it didn’t hold the promise of return. This smile felt like the last time you’d ever get to see it.
“Eddie!” Dustin flinched at the pure volume in your scream, never seeing you throw your whole body into yelling before in his life; and he’d been on the receiving end of that stick many times.
It only took sixty seconds of not hearing or seeing him before you turned to Dustin and grabbed a hold of him. Your grip on his shoulders was tight but when you held his face he wasn’t sure he could move from your grasp if he tried.
“You stay here.”
“What? No! Fuck no! You’re not going after him, no!” You watched his eyes widen with fear, the thought of losing you both too heavy to carry.
“Dustin.” your bottom lip trembled and Dustin watched the tears build up on your lash line. You were breaking right in front of him. “Dustin I have to. I need to. I’m going but you have to stay here. Promise me you’ll stay right fucking here Dustin.” he shook his head quickly, blubbering out reasons he couldn’t promise you that but you didn’t have time.
“Dustin, I love you. I’m going to get him back here. We’re coming back but stay right here or I’ll kill you myself Henderson.” he let out the faintest chuckle at your empty threat and held onto you a bit tighter when you kissed his forehead.
As soon as you landed on your feet you cried out in pain, the jump being farther than you would’ve ever expected. It didn’t matter though. A rolled ankle was nothing in comparison to losing Eddie.
His name was the only thing that could be heard for miles. Your piercing screams were loud enough for Dustin to hear all the way back in Hawkins. He sat in front of the gate with his knees up to his chest trying to convince himself it was smarter to stay back. He would have, had your screams not gone from searching for Eddie to blood curdling cries.
He was on his back when you found him, bats flying around him like a makeshift tornado you couldn’t penetrate. It was a horror story, something stripped right out of one of your nightmares. And just like everything you’d ever feared, you could only get to him when it was too late.
He smiled at the sight of you, chaos seemingly gone for the moment as you threw yourself down to get to him.
“Nice to see you, sunshine.” you laughed through your tears, pulling him into your lap as carefully as you could. “It’s bad, huh?”
“No, no. It’s not that bad, we just need to get you to the hospital.” searching for a hospital was useless, but you did it anyway. There wasn’t one anywhere near you and even if you had found one in time, being in an alternate dimension didn’t exactly play in your favor.
Eddie grabbed your hand in his and tugged gently, trying to put an end to your frantic searching. “Hey, look at me, please.”
“Why didn’t you run? Why would you stay?” gentle thumbs caught the tears rolling down your cheeks. It was all too sweet to be such a sour moment.
“Tired of running, baby. Needed to protect you and D.”
When the coughing started you knew what was happening. It was then that you could see it clearly, that hope failed to cloud your judgment.
“You should’ve protected yourself.” but he wouldn’t accept that. Not when your life was on the line; not when he promised he’d keep Dustin safe.
“Eddie!” both of you looked up at the same time, eyes locking on the boy whose whole demeanor changed in seconds. “No. Noo, no no no no.”
“Hey it’s alright kid.” Eddie flashed that award winning smile and somehow your shoulders relaxed. Despite knowing that he was literally slipping through your fingers, you knew that it would be okay. An Eddie Munson smile meant things would always be okay.
“No man. No.”
“Graduation’s close. We’ll party like rockstars because we’re gonna fuckin’ graduate.” He squeezed your hand, declaring you were in this together. “I think it’s gonna be my year, Henderson.”
“Eddie, no man, no!”
“I love you.” Dustin lost it then, tears rolling down his cheeks at a rate you were convinced would never stop.
“I love you too.” he dropped his head, losing the will to look at one of his best friends while life slipped out of him.
“And you.” He turned you to them, his smile so soft you weren’t sure you could commit it to memory. “You’re the best thing that ever happened to me sunshine.”
“You can’t go.” the denial hit again. Life without Eddie never seemed so grim. You lived 17 years without him and yet you weren’t sure how you’d be able to do it tomorrow, or any days after. “We’re supposed to have tomorrow.”
“You will. You’ll get to graduate and grow up and I’ll watch it all, okay? I’m not leaving you.” you held him close then, forehead pressed to his chest while he weakly rubbed your arm. “You’ll get your house in the woods and put my guitar on the wall. Evergreen trees will line your backyard so you’ll never have to pay for a Christmas tree. It’ll be so green. You’ll have a big area rug and the most beautiful…”
His voice faded and his hands stopped, his voice replaced with Dustin’s choked sobs. The throbbing in his chest seemed to pause and for a moment you weren’t sure if you were breathing.
“The most beautiful fireplace. We’ll get a big painting that’s too ugly to cost what it does and you’ll tell me it looks like some screwed up animal. I’ll set up a music room for you, one with those foam things on the walls and every guitar you have set up nicely on their own stands.
"I'm gonna do it all for us, my love."
One last caress of his face and a final kiss to his forehead were the last you felt of Eddie. You let Dustin grab your hand, processing the proclamations of danger and followed him back to the gate.
The days following were worse than you would’ve thought. Gathering things together to help people evacuate stripped you of the time to grieve. Normally you would’ve locked yourself in your room for a few days and cried it out but now you were slapping peanut butter on bread to meet Robin’s jellied half.
For the better part of the following days things were fine. You’d brush off snarky comments that didn’t sit well with you for the greater good of getting people out of Hawkins. You’d be damned if you’d let anyone else endure the things you and your friends had to go through; what Eddie had to go through.
The pentagrams drawn on his posters always brought tears to your eyes. You watched his uncle change them out everyday and sometimes he’d be pleasantly surprised to see the vandalized ones were already taken down.
It wasn’t until you were walking through a media mess that you lost it. It’d been four days of staying strong and holding everything back, swallowing it down. Nancy was there for you as much as she could be with her boy dilemma and equal effort to save her town. Robin was as supportive as always in the sweet and humorous light that she exudes.
Steve was right behind you, keeping a close eye on the girl he adopted as his sister when you two were in middle school. He promised he’d always look out for you, that no matter what people pumped into his head he’d always know that you’re what kept him grounded. So he had to do the same for you, and he was happy to do it.
So when you lost it on a reporter, on national television, he was right there to pull you off.
“The whereabouts of the accused are unknown but the consensus is that he’s hiding out in one of the homes of his followers. The leader of the local cult known as “Hellfire” has yet to be seen-”
You weren’t even sure what you were doing; one moment you were walking behind Nancy and the next you had your hands gripping a reporter’s shirt for dear life.
“He’s not a fucking cult leader!” the poor journalist was on the ground before he could even plead his case, seeming to be in the wrong place at the worst time.
You don’t remember much of what you said after that until Steve had you backed against a wall with your head in his hands. You were panting and crying, and your bloodied hands were shaking against his chest. It wasn’t until his voice finally broke through your dazed mind did you realize what had just happened.
“Y/n you need to calm down.” he saw it as soon as you’d realized it. As if a switch in your brain had flipped and the light turned on; perhaps it turned off.
The walls came tumbling down as your shoulders began to shake and the floodgate of tears opened up. Steve caught you before your knees hit the pavement, feeling all the strength he knew you had escape you. Nancy and Robin racked their brains on what to do, how to help, but it was of no use. This wasn’t something you could shake off anymore, couldn’t swallow it down to the depths of your mind to dwell on later.
Steve picked you up the best he could, fumbling with your limbs awkwardly until he had a good grip on you. Nancy opened her mouth but he shook his head and continued down the path you were on before your outburst.
It was going to be a long ride but you weren’t on it alone. You may have left Hawkins for a few years but these people were your family. Everything you’d gone through you went through together and you know you’d never be able to leave again.
You’d never be alone as long as you were here.
