On full-length debut Abomination, it’s clear just how much Lynks suited the shorter format of an EP or single; in those snapshot releases they revealed a fleeting and mysterious insight into (what felt like) an ungraspable, multifaceted enigma. A lengthier release, instead of revealing a more complex and intriguing artist, instead shows too much. Much of Abomination is one-dimensional and formulaic, revealing that Lynks’ dichotomies and paradoxes and general schtick aren’t so teeming with guile and nuance but instead pretty goofy.
Got latest issue of Attitude which was celebrating their 30th anniversary. There were a couple of good pieces on 30 best gay-themed novels and films from the last 30 years plus interviews with Beth Ditto, Jonny Woo and Lynks.
