Queer Book List
I've just updated my complete list of LGBT+ novels ever read (as far as I can remember). Not including short story collections, comics, non-fiction, or things I've completely forgotten.
I'm not including books where a main character's sexuality was only implied (it's got to be clear on the page), and this list contains queer main and secondary characters only, not background characters that play little part in the story.
I don't read a lot of Young Adult, so assume these are all adult-oriented unless otherwise stated.
I'm not judging nor rating nor recommending any of these; it's purely a list of books I've finished.

                                     ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
It’s been two weeks now since the case over the custody of Jake began and Laurie wasn’t backing down. Andy hadn’t found any reason as in why Laurie wanted to have Jake back, either she wasn’t hiding anything or she was very good at hiding it.
“Ok, honey.” Andy walked out of their closet fixing his tie, “Are you sure you can come to court today?”
“Yes, you know today I only have 3 classes. There will be no problem.” She said as she finished to brush her hair. Andy walked behind her and kiss the top of her head.
“I like that dress.” He said looking to the flowered lilac midi dress with heart neckline and short sleeves she was wearing.
“Thanks! You bought it.”
“Do you remember what I told you?”
“To answer with all honesty everything they ask.”
“Good, girl. Remember, at 11. See you later!”
Annie went to school and tried to pay attention to all of her classes of the day but it was impossible, she was getting nervous as the time passed. It was her last class and it was pouring rain outside.
“Sure you don’t want us to come with you?” Sharon asked when she saw Annie couldn’t stop moving her hands.
“No, I’ll be good.”
“Good luck, if you need anything at all.” Mark said.
“I’ll call you.” They walked out the building, the rain was heavier than before. “Guess I’ll have to run to my car. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
It was 11:15 and Annie wasn’t at court.
“Where is she?” Lynn asked.
“I don’t know,” Andy took his phone and send her a text.
Not even 5 seconds later Annie came in running, wet from head to toe, her hair was drenched, and right when she was about to made it to the front, she slipped falling on her ass in front of every one.
“SHIT!” The deputy ran to help her stand.
“You ok, miss?” He grabbed her arm.
“Yeah, yeah! Sorry I’m late. It’s raining.”
“Miss…” The judge looked at the paper he had, “Johnson?”
“Yeap! That’s me! Hi!”
“Please, Miss Johnson, come to the bench to take your oath.”
Annie walked carefully to the stand and sat on the chair in there, she waved a little to Andy who waved back and smiled. Laurie didn’t miss this interaction.
“Lawyer Canavan, since your witness is already here, you can began.”
“Thank you, your honor.” Lynn walked towards the stand, “Your name, please.”
“Annabelle Marie Johnson.”
“Perfect. How long have you known the Barbers?”
“Since March this year.”
“How did you come to work for them?”
“Mr. Barber called me because Mrs. Duffy recommended me to be his nanny. He told me to come to his house for an interview and he said he needed someone to take care of Jake because he was going to have more work due to his promotion.”
“In all of the time you had work there, have you seen Mr. Barber been aggressive towards his son?”
“Never! He is a great dad, very loving. Andy hugs and kisses Jake every time he has the chance. He had yelled at Jake a couple of times, like every parent, but he had never been physical. They play, they spend time together, they go fishing and when Jake needed help Andy didn’t hesitate to look for someone to help him.” She smiled looking at Andy who saw her with love in his eyes.
“Mr. Barber mentioned you have been great help in the psychological process Jake’s been having.”
“Well, I suppose. I spend a lot of time with Jake and I just want him to have a happy childhood. Jake is a great kid, sweet, funny, so smart. I don’t want to see him suffer.” She looked at Laurie when she said that last line.
“Thank you, Miss Johnson. No more questions your honor.”
“Lawyer Anderson, your witness.”
“Thank you, your Honor.” He stood up and walked towards Annie. “Good morning, Miss Johnson, thank you for keep us waiting. I hope you are alright, it was quite a hard fall.” Annie was shivering by now since she was drying.
“I’m ok.” She gave him tight smile.
“Have you and Mr. Barber ever argue?”
“Once, ammm it was early when I first started working for him. He was stressed and he missed dinner with his kid. I got angry so we yelled, but other than that, never. He apologized and I kept working for him.”
“What were your duties?”
“I needed to come to his house at 3, took care of Jake, played with him, and helped him with some activities they left him at day care. I made them dinner. I left by 7 or 8 tops. Monday to Thursday and the weekends were off. Later I also started to cook lunch for them.”
“Excellent! So, do you live with the Barbers?”
“I do now. I wasn’t when he first hired me. I came and went as my shift ended.”
“What change?”
“I had some personal issues and they took me in. It was very nice of them to help me when I needed the most.”
“What happened?”
“I broke up with my then boyfriend, he attacked me and Andy helped me through the process.”
“Always the gentleman.” Richard turned to see Andy, “Does he still pay you?”
“Yes, of course. I take care of Jake and the house. I cook and I clean.”
“What is your relationship now with Mr. Barber?”
“He is my boss.” She looked at Andy who gave her a small nod, “And I’m his girlfriend.”
“Girlfriend? I hardly think that could be considered a pure love relationship since he is paying you to be with him.” Annie opened his mouth not believing this guy.
“Objection! Your honor!” Lynn said.
“Hey!” Andy was stood by now, “What’s your problem?!”
“Mr. Anderson! That was way out of line!” Judge Choi said.
“I’m not a whore!” Annie was fuming now. “Andy hired me to be Jake’s nanny! I needed the job because I am a student who needs to pay for things! And then we fell in love! How is that any close to what you are implying? YOU ASS!”
“Miss Johnson!” Judge Choi said, “Calm down.”
“He started!”
“Very well, I apologize for whatever you all think I was implying.” Richard said with a mocking tone. Annie could not believe the nerve on this guy. “Do you know Mr. Barber’s dad is in prison?”
“Yes, of course.”
“How do you know that?”
“He told me.”
“Why?”
“Well, I don’t know if you are married or not, but in a relationship is important not to have secrets. He knows about my background and I know about his. His dad is in jail for raping and murdering a girl. They have no relationship.”
“Are you afraid of Mr. Barber?”
“Pff why? Look at him! He is a cute soft giant bear! He is one of the nicest men I’ve ever met, after my dad and my brother. Oh and he is sexy too!”
“Miss Johnson.” Judge Choi said. “Just answer what they ask.”
“Sorry. I’m not lying though.” You heard Andy Laughed a bit and saw Lynn elbowed him to stop.
“Is it true you attacked my client?”
“Mmmmm,” She made a thoughtful face, now she was certainly mocking him, “Nop.”
“No? You know lying in court is a felony, right? You seem like a smart girl.”
“Fine! She showed up at our house…”
“But is not your house, is Andy’s.”
“Can I continue, or are you going to keep interrupting me?”
“Go on.”
“As I was saying, she showed up at our house trying to look for Jake. She tried to walk into the house, and I avoided her to do so because it is my job to take care of him.”
“But why, she is his mother after all.”
“Some mother! She left Jake when he was a baby! And by the way, do you know she hasn’t give any money to Andy to take care of Jake?” Richard was taken aback when Annie said that. “If she left then why she never gave Andy any money to take care of her kid? That’s what happens when people get divorce right?” Richard just looked at her. “Right?!”
“Right.” Richardson said.
“That woman has no right over Jake. She has no right to come here 3 years later, just because she feels guilty, or for whatever reason she wants him back. Jake doesn’t know her, and she doesn’t need him, if she did, she would have done this right after she left them! And I can assure you neither Andy nor Jake need her. She did them a favor!” She sneezed after she finished.
“I believe Miss Johnson needs to go get change. No more questions your honor. Thank you, miss.”
“Thank you, Miss Johnson, you are dismissed.” Judge Choi said. “We will continue this tomorrow.”
Annie walked to Lynn and Andy, and he rapidly reached for her enveloping her with his warm suit jacket.
“Come here,” Andy hugged her and rubbed his hands in her back.
“Did I do well?”
“You were perfect.” He gave her a kiss on the nose and she sneezed again. “Come on, honey. Let’s go home. You need a warm bath.”
Laurie stared at Andy and Annie, in all the time they were together he never looked at her the way he was looking at Annie now.
Once at home, Annie went to take a hot shower and changed her clothes. When she came down the stairs she saw Lynn sitting at the dinner table surrounded by papers.
“Where is Andy?”
“He went to pick up Jake.”
“I’m making some tea, you want some?”
“Sure, thanks!”
Annie walked to the kitchen and put the pot in the stove.
“Can I ask you how did you know Laurie wasn’t giving Andy money?”
“A friend of mine has divorced parents and he mentioned that the other day. Andy never talks about money."
“He never wanted to ask Laurie for money, he was too proud to do it. You know him.”
“I just assumed she didn’t pay for anything because Andy once told me she resigned to her parent rights. I don’t know, probably shouldn’t have said that.”
“No, actually it was good. That way the judge could see Laurie hasn’t been part of Jake’s life in any sense.”
Annie walked holding the two mugs and sat in front of Lynn.
“What happened the day Laurie left?”
“Andy hasn’t told you?”
“I think he told me what he wanted me to know.”
“I just know she left. Andy showed up in my house that night. He had been working for the county for over a year maybe. I never expect him to be in my house crying asking for help, he doesn’t have the type.” Annie giggled knowing very well what she meant, “I advised him to talk to her, to try to fix her marriage, and he did, but apparently Laurie had different plans.” Lynn took a sip of her tea, “Then she send a letter saying she didn’t want to be involved in their lives and even thought I told Andy he could sue her for leaving them and not giving child support, he never went for it. I think that deep down he thought Laurie was going to come to her senses and come back, but she never did.”
“Well, that worked for me, He is mine now.” Lynn laughed, “Do you think you could win?”
“I’m not sure anymore and I hate saying that.”

The students were returning to the school. After a small break after the day Alice was reported, they called off school for a day. Laurie offers to drive Y/N to school, not allowing her to go to that park.
She slowly drove up to the front as Y/N stared out the window nonchalantly. Laurie stops the car when the officer nods them over, she turns to Y/N, “Okay. You got everything?”
“Yep,” Y/N says, grabbing her bag and hopping out. “Am I walking home?” She asked. Laurie sighs, “I don’t know. I’ll call you if any of us are gonna pick you up. I don’t know about dad.” Y/N nods. “Bye, mom. Love you.”
“Love you too, honey.” The door closes and Y/N began to walk up to the school.
She spotted Henry on her way to the doors, “Hey, Henry.” Her friend turns around and gives her a scared expression. Her smile slowly dropped when he looks at her like he didn’t know her. Henry turned around and completely ignored her.
Her hand grips her backpack strap as she passes him.
Andy began to walk through the offices to meet up with his boss, Lynn. The one who kind of called him up on the case of Alice Miller. The chatter began to fade as he enters her office.
“Have a seat, Andy,” She says. He takes the seat in front of her desk and lets out a sigh. “I thought that press conference went well enough,” He says. Lynn folded her hands together, leaning back.
“They want answers, Andy. So do the girl’s parents,” Lynn states. Andy situates himself into the chair more, furrowing his brows. “Yeah, so do I. You know as well as I--” The clicking sound of the door behind them opens and Andy turns around.
“I asked Neal to join us,” Lynn says, the tall man without his jacket shows his suspenders started walking in. “Andy,” Neal greets. The man turns back to Lynn like a crazy person. “This isn’t an ambush. I think you handling this case is not the best idea. You’re friendly with the parents, your daughter goes to the same school--”
Andy scoffs, “We barely know the parents. Yes, we’ve spoken to them but we haven’t really had connections. I barely knew the girl but she’s best friends with Y/N. Let me guess, Rasputin here offered to take over?” Neal smiles at that.
Lynn seemed defensive, “Neal has legitimate concerns about the appearance of conflict. And frankly, so do I,” She unfolds her hands for a second, “Appearances matter.”
Andy shakes his head, “Yeah, to voters.” Lynn scoffs at that, “Oh, come on, Andy.”
“Sorry,” He mutters.
“It’s a question of objectivity,” Neal finally says. Andy glances over, “Shut up, Neal,” He brings his attention back to Lynn, “Are you taking me off the case? Yes or no.”
Lynn leans forward, “Right now I’m merely asking what you think.”
“I think I should keep this case. If I were concerned about my reputation, maybe I’d feel differently. But unlike Mr. Logiudice here,” Andy glanced at the man beside him, “I’m not gunning for your job.”
Neal shakes his head, “Fuck off, Andy. Okay?” Andy lifts up his hands, “Hey, I get it. High-profile case, big splashy win. Be a game changer.”
“You’re a real piece of work you know that?” He said.
“Gentlemen,” Lynn says sternly. “You’re dragging your feet on this case,” Neal continues as Andy removes his eyes from the man. “The case is going slow ‘cause that’s how the case is going. I’m not going to indict someone just to make it look good,” Andy said.
“You always told me to push every case as hard as I could.”
“I am pushing as hard as I can,” Andy snaps. “Then why haven’t you interviewed any of the kids?” Neal asks. Andy turns, “Because it isn’t Dorchester High, Neal. It’s Newton. Every single detail has to be negotiated. Half the parents there are lawyers.” Neal doesn’t respond to that and turns away from Andy.
Neal was somewhat new but not. Andy was more experienced as he was, maybe even taught him a few things about being a DA. But, boy do they argue.
“Look, we got interviews lined up all day. You wanna send Neal? Be my guest,” Andy said. Lynn inhales softly, “I have concerns, I voiced them. If you say there’s no conflict--”
“There isn’t,” Andy cuts her off.
“I don’t know how you can be the one to make that call,” Neal cuts in. “Because that’s the way it works, Neal,” Andy faces him, “I make the calls.” Neal shuts up once again so Andy turns back to Lynn. “And if I’m wrong, I’ll be the one to stand in front of the jury and take the hit.”
There was no other choice. Sure, Lynn could say no, but Andy just seem to not refuse to get rid of the case he wanted. “Okay,” She says. Neal leans in his chair and lets out a sigh without the sign of irritation. Andy glances at him, “Thank you.”
“Of course, Andy.” The man stands up from his seat, “I’ll keep you updated,” He said. “Please do.”
.
Pam and Andy were beginning to head to the Archer Middle School. They needed more details on the day of the party. “We’ve gotten consent to fingerprint most of the kids.”
“I think we start with high-priority witnesses. Alice’s close friends, kids known to walk to school through the Cold Spring Park and who attended to Emily Walker’s party.”
The two entered the building and the office woman led them to an empty classroom to do their interviews with most of the students. The first one comes in and it’s a girl who shyly walks over to the table. “I’m Lieutenant Duffy. I’m with the state police. And this is Mr. Barber. He’s the assistant district attorney in charge of the case,” Pam states towards the girl, the girl watched Andy carefully.
“You’re Y/N’s dad, aren’t you?” She asked. He nods, “That’s right. So how well did you know Alice? Was she a friend?” He asks. The girl nods unsure, “Yeah, I guess.”
Andy plays with the pen in his hand, knowing these kids are gonna be difficult to talk to. “Tell us about her.”
“She was okay.”
Duffy shuffles, “Can you be a little more specific?”
They had another kid the next 15 minutes. The boy shrugs. “She was nice.” Andy looks over at Duffy. “Anything else?”
“I don’t know. Not really.”
The adults moved on to the next child. “Can you think of anyone that would’ve had a reason to wanna hurt Alice?” The girl in front of them shakes her head, thinking. “I don’t think so. No.”
.
Andy writes down things on his notepad. “What about people Alice didn’t like?” The two look up to the curly hair boy, “I don’t know. I mean, nobody likes everybody, right?” Andy and Duffy look at each other.
.
“Wait, are you Y/N Barber’s dad?” The next girl asks, all Andy could do was smile. These kids don’t really focus on the topic here other than him being the best father to his daughter, Y/N. “Can you think of anyone who might have a reason to wanna hurt Alice?”
The kids replied with the same answer.
“No.”
This wanted to make Andy rip the notepad. Duffy rubs her forehead, “Did Alice say anything to you that made you think she might be in trouble?” She asks. The girl tilts her head. “In trouble?”
Their next witness says the same thing. “In trouble? How?”
Andy began to write in his note book to the next kid in front of him. He knew it was around an hour at this point. “Did Alice ever say anything to you to make you think she might be in trouble?”
The same answers through all the kids.
“No.”
.
Andy presses the end of the pen on his notepad a couple of times. “Was Alice acting differently at all the week that this happened?”
“I don’t know.”
“Never said anything about anyone following her, anyone bothering her?” Duffy asks. The kids all shook their heads at that question.
“Wait,” The girl says, “Are you Y/N Barber’s dad?” Andy drops his head and sighs. “Is there anything else you think we should know?”
Andy hated to hear the same one syllable and two letter word.
“No.”
“About Alice?” One kid had asked. Duffy shrugged, “About anything.”
After almost an hour and a half of talking with the kids, they handed them cards. “Well, thanks for talking to us,” Andy pulls out a card, “This is my card. It has all my information if you need to get in touch.” They all nod.
“If anything else occurs to you, even if you think it’s nothing,” Duffy pulls out her card. The girl takes it, “Like if I heard something?” She asked.
“Exactly,” Andy said, he tilts his head, “Wait, did you hear something?”
“No,” She shook her head, “Just... you know.”
“No, we don’t,” Duffy said. Those kids were bad talkers. Y/N could be like that sometimes but these kids were worse.
They all wanted to leave with the words:
“Can I go now?”
.
Andy began to write some notes down as a phone buzzes beside him and Duffy pulls out her phone. She sits up, “Let me know what I miss,” Pam stands up and walks away.
He brought his attention to the last kid in front of him. “So is there anything else you want to tell me about Alice?” He asked. The girl shakes her head. Andy gives her a softly okay.
“Well, you have both our cards. If you think of anything else, please feel free to call anytime,” He said. The girl nods, “The cop who came to our class said there was a tip line. Just in case we wanted to say something anonymously or whatever,” She says.
Andy nods this time, “That’s right.” He folded his arms in front of him. “Is there something you want to tell us?”
“No, I was just wondering.” There was a small silence before she reaches for her backpack and puts it over her shoulder. “I know your daughter, Y/N.”
Andy smiles, “Oh, yeah? You guys friends?”
“I guess so. Well, not exactly. But, I mean, we know each other. Saw her at Emily’s party.” Andy nods at her as she stood up in silence to head for the door. All this sudden she stops, turning to face him again.
“Have you talked to Y/N about this?” She asks.
“About Alice?” He leans on the table, seeing her nod, “Why do you ask?” He says. The girl shakes her head and turns to walk away. “Sarah,” He calls.
She turns back. “Must have been some reason you asked that.”
Sarah shook her head again with the monotone voice, “I was just asking. Really.” Andy watches her inch closer to the door, “Well, if you think of anything else,” He adds. Sarah gives him a thumbs up and walks out the doors, just like the others.
With a sigh, Andy reaches for the button to his neck and unbuttons it, the feeling of it tightening around his throat made it hard for him to breath.
.
After another few minutes and a couple look over the notes he had gotten, it was nothing. Duffy comes in, “We’re not better off than we were yesterday. These kids are like mafiosos,” He says. He sees her hand him her phone and he takes it into his own hand.
“What’s this?” He asked.
“Just came in,” She responds. He reads the top words. “Leonard Patz. Indecent A&B on a minor, lewd and lascivious indecent A&B on a minor pending,” Andy reads.
“He’s 36 years old, lives near the park in that condo, the Windsor, or whatever they call it.”
“Why didn’t we know about him before?” Andy looks over the information and the photos of him. “He moved to Newton last year. Guess it was never registered. One of the ADAs in the child abuse unit flagged him. That’s the pending.”
“What did this guy do?”
Pam inhales, “Grabbed a girl’s chest at the public library.” Andy looks up to Pam if she was serious. The look never faltered. “Kid was 15. Only a year older than Alice Miller.”
“He groped a girl and got out on a personal?” Andy sits back down in disbelief. “Apparently there was some question about the kid’s testimony,” She said.
Leonard seem to be around 5′6 of height. This could be a suspect, “We should bring him in.”
“Keep in mind, the Miller girl had no sign of sexual assault. If we bring this guy in without something tying him to the case--” She cuts herself off. “Right,” He says, “He’ll lawyer up.”
Pam pierces her lips at him, “I know you’re under a lot of pressure, but if you play this wrong, you could lose your one chance to talk to him.” He thought about for a moment. But these kid’s and their answers over the past 2 hours, they got nothing from them. He needed to break it off for a moment.
“Let me sleep on it.” It was close to being maybe another 30 minutes before school ended so he texted Laurie that he’ll be picking up Y/N today.
.
It rained not too long ago. The cement ground was wet, including the fields as the students came out of the school. Andy spotted Y/N and he rolls the window down catching her eye.
She runs over and hops into the passenger side. “Hey, dad.”
“Hey, sweetheart. How was school?”
“Good. You were here?” She asked. Andy nods, he didn’t want to answer what they were looking for. It was kind of obvious why they were there. Y/N nods, “Did you get anything?”
“Not really. No,” He says. He sounded just like those kids. He glances at her and grins, “Did you eat?”
“Kind of.”
“Mom didn’t pack you anything?” He asked, Y/N shook her head, “I didn’t want anything. Wasn’t feeling good at the time.” Andy pulls out of the school driveway and heads down the road. “Do you want me to pick you up something?”
Y/N took a while to answer. “I’m okay. I’m sure there’s leftovers at home.”
Andy looks over at her for a second. Her eyes staring out the window to the kids hopping on the buses or kid’s walking home. He turns away and continued to drive back home.
.
Y/N was already in bed around nine after dinner. Andy and Laurie were in the living room and dining room. Andy worked late along with his wife who works at the children’s cottage. He was looking over the cases. Laurie lets out a sigh and closes her laptop to head over to Andy at the dining table, flipping through pages.
“I’m exhausted. I’m going up,” She mumbles. He gives her a soft whisper of an Okay. She rubs his back, “You?”
He doesn’t look at her, “Yeah, a couple minutes.” Laurie looks over to the photo’s of Alice’s body by the pond. She quickly looks away and leans down to kiss his forehead, “Goodnight, honey.”
“Night,” He says.
After Laurie goes up as Andy drops the pages and stares at the screen of his laptop. He takes out his phone and holds it up to his ear, “Hey, did I wake you?” He asks. They respond back. “Yeah, pretty much.” Duffy was on the phone with him. “Yeah. Yeah, I wanna bring him in... I am. Okay. Thanks, Duff.”
He hangs up and puts his phone down, looking over the file once again. Leonard Patz had to at least be involved in this. He was sure, but they needed to ask him first.
Andy glanced over to the photos and began to call it a night. He collected the photos and his computer dings.
He reads the message in the corner.
[email protected] Re: ALICE MILLER >>> README Look here.
Andy reached over and clicks on the link Look Here. The link takes him to an instagram post with the hashtag #RIPALICE
Andy dug in deeper and began to scroll through the comments down below. One caught his eye and the air caught in his throat.
Y/N STFU. Bitch.
WTF? YB go fuck off and die.
So not cool Y/N
Andy continues to scrolls and finds his daughter’s profile.
Alice is dead. Why are you writing her messages? Acting like her best friends.
Andy sighs softly, spotting the four replies underneath her response to others. He clicks on them. The one made chills ride up his spine and the horror rose.
Y/N, everybody knows you did it. you have a knife. I’ve seen it.
Those words repeated in his head. He leans into his chair and his breathing began to rise. Was this true? Or does this Derek think this is funny to say that on social media?
Without even saying anything. Andy walks up the stairs and enters her room. The room was dark, he heard the faint music as he looks down to see her with earbuds in.
Her photos hung up on the wall with those firefly lights that shined, it still didn’t light up her whole room. He turns away from her and looks around. Carefully, he pulls a drawer out and gently moves things around for something hard and heavy. Silver and sharp.
He hoped he would not find some knife in her room. He looks over to make sure she didn’t wake up. He goes to her bookshelf, moving books around to the sides, looking behind, under, over or whatever.
He pulls out his phone and uses his flash, searching through her closet, checking every sweater pocket hanging in her closet. Hoping she wasn’t hiding skeletons in there.
No find as he closes the door slowly and looks around one more time. Not missing anything he hadn’t checked, before he looks at Y/N. She was sleeping so soundly. Peaceful. Alongside with Milo who luckily just relaxed and didn’t dramatically jump up to him.
He knew his daughter wouldn’t do this. He felt guilty just to assume she had one. That she did it. Before he headed out, he walked over to her nightstand. Pulling out the drawer to search it one last time.
He reached in, finding pencils, game cards, till his fingers touch something soft but it felt heavy. He reaches in and pulls out socks. He unravels the cloth off from whatever was hiding under it. He felt his heart beat against his chest, hoping his daughter couldn’t hear it like thunder.
He saw the dark handle, a grip and cold metal. He looks down at her in pure horror and disbelief. Using his two fingers to pull the large sharp blade out of it’s hiding.
The moonlight hitting all it’s sharp edges giving Andy that eerie feeling. His fingers shook under the blade, it had smaller blades down itself. The knife that was more critical, one strike and the pulling could rip out the flesh and tear it. There were no blood tracings, no knife was found on that scene.
Could this be it?

I hate to use the same dialogue. It makes me feel like a bad person.

two months had passed since you met Andy. he stayed true to his promise of helping you not letting you struggle by yourself. he became your tutor, and it became routine for you to send him your homework for him to look over before you submitted it.
he had called you a few days ago, and asked if you were still looking for an internship, something you had mentioned weeks ago. you immediately responded yes, and asked if he had heard anything.
he said he had, and he had already set up an interview for you. you'd thanked him profusely, and he just laughed and said "anything for a pretty girl like you." the interview was the week after that, and when you walked into the courthouse, you instantly captured the eyes of a tall man. he was much taller than Andy, and had short brown hair. you recognized him as Neal Loguidice, the commonwealth attorney in Jacob's case.
he eyed you up and down, which made goosebumps rise on your arms. you averted your gaze, and continued after your escort to Lynn Canavan's office. you took a deep breath and opened the door.
20 minutes later, you were walking out of the building with a huge smile on your face. you'd gotten the internship, and you'd be working in the Assistant District Attorney's office, directly under none other than Andy Barber. you bit your lip as you fished your phone out of your pocket. you waited until you were out of the building to call Andy.
"hey!" he said when he answered the phone. "how'd it go?"
you giggled. "it went great! i got the internship."
"i knew you would. you're such a smart girl, Lynn would've been an idiot to not bring you on. when do you start?"
"Monday at 9 am." you said, a smile on your face as you unlocked your car.
"we should celebrate." he said, ad you furrowed your brows in amusement.
"oh yeah? i'm guessing it'd be with bingo." you joked.
"why would it be with bingo?" Andy responded, a hint of a laugh in his voice.
"well," you sighed. "because you're old."
Andy laughed on the other end. "well, you just wait honey. our celebration is going to be amazing. tonight at 8 work for you?" he asked.
"sounds perfect, see you then."
Tumblr media
he picked you up at 8 o'clock on the dot that night, and wouldn't reveal where you two were going. a smile spread on your face as you pulled into a parking lot, and saw that you were at Cold Spring Park. he pulled out a picnic basket and blanket, and the two of you headed into the park. you two avoided the woody area, knowing that that spot brought up bad memories for Andy.
you settled on a spot beside the tennis court, and Andy spread the blanket. you sat down, and opened the basket as he took his own seat.
"champagne?" you asked, pulling the bottle out of the basket. Andy smiled.
"yep. champagne is a celebration drink, and we're celebrating. i can't have too much though, i'm the one driving."
the two of you drank the champagne and ate the delicious food, as the sun set, and the stars and moon came out. while Andy only had a few sips of it, he kept encouraging you to drink it, wanting you to celebrate. you got drunk rather fast, which resulted in Andy having to haul you back to the car while you giggled at absolutely everything.
he arrived back at your dorm a few minutes later, and helped you up the stairs. he was mentally preparing himself to enter your apartment. he remembered you telling him that you had roommates that were freshman, and liked to party. you lucked out and got a single room because your suite mate dropped out a week into the semester, but you had 6 other roommates living in the same apartment. that thought alone made Andy want to suggest you move in with him, but he knew that was wildly inappropriate. you two weren't together.
he unlocked the door, and was hit with loud music pounding throughout the living room, and at least 18 other children roaming around the apartment, even walking into the bedrooms. he let you lead him to your room. when he walked in, he was shocked at how well decorated it was.
your bed was pushed against the far wall, under one of the windows. the bedding was pure white, and the pillows were a mustard orange and dark brown. the bedside table that was beside the head of your bed was holding a white lamp. there was a large bookcase next to it, and beside that was your mini fridge and coffee maker. on the other side of the room sat your desk and dresser, and on the wall beside it was your tv, and mirror. beside it was an armchair, and a large rug was covering most of the wooden floor.
you giggled as you saw him looking around. "i know it's big. the residence let me decorate however i wanted, and even took the other furniture out for me." you said, and plopped down onto the bed, a sigh of relief escaping.
"you have to get changed, silly." Andy said, tickling your sides. you giggled. "where are your clothes? i'll grab them for you."
you pointed lazily at the dresser beside your desk. "'n there. top and middle drawer." Andy nodded and walked over to it. just as he opened the top door, you exclaimed.
"WAIT! middle and bottom! top is my underwear and bra's." you said before collapsing into another fit of giggles.
Andy however, was not laughing because he didn't shut the door in time, and was face to face with a pair of black panties that had been lazily thrown in on top of the folded ones. it wasn't even that that shocked him; he'd been married before, he knew what women's underwear looked like. it was the writing on the butt that shocked him.
it said 'daddy's good girl' in bright red lettering. he chewed on his lip as he felt his nether regions stirring, before taking a deep breath and closing the drawer. he retrieved the actual pyjamas, and walked back over to you.
you had curled up in a fetal position, and had a stuffed dolphin with a prosthetic tail clutched in your arms, rubbing your face against the soft fur of the animal.
"Winter, you so soft," you said in a small voice, and Andy smiled.
"c'mon, love. let's get dressed." he said softly. you shook your head, and Andy chuckled. "okay. sit up." he said and you finally complied.
you lifted your arms, and Andy lifted your shirt off of your body, trying to keep his eyes averted. he got a small glimpse of your chest, however, and his entire face went red. he slid the sleep shirt on over top, and then continued on with your jeans.
his hands were shaky as he undid your pants and slid them down your legs. the shaking got worse when he saw the pair of translucent lace underwear that didn't conceal anything. his eyes didn't miss the wetness either, and he wanted nothing more than to get his mouth on you, but you were drunk, and there was no way you'd let him do that, especially sober.
he slid your shorts on, and helped you under the covers. "nee' miwk." you said, and he furrowed his brows. "f'idge." you said, and pointed at the fridge. he eyed you quizzically as he approached the fridge, but realized what you were asking for when he opened the mini fridge. there was a small baby bottle filled with what he guessed was chocolate almond milk, based on the Silk Chocolate Almond Milk jug behind it. he grabbed it, and shook it like he used to shake Jacob's bottles, and took the cap off. he gave it to you, and he watched quizzically as you sucked the nipple into your mouth. your eyes closed, and you downed the bottle in less than 5 minutes. Andy took it from you when you started sucking air.
he walked out of the bedroom, and found the bathroom that was just to the right, being careful to hide the bottle behind his back.
he rinsed it quickly, and walked back into your room. he glanced around, looking for where to put it. he say another bottles nipple sticking out from one of the bins on the bookshelf, and pulled it out.
it was a bin with multiple other bottles, paci's, and even a package of adult diapers. he was confused, but he knew there was a logical explanation to everything, an explanation he wasn't going to get tonight. he placed the clean bottle back in the bin, and with one last look at you, he turned out the light, and headed out.
Tumblr media
monday morning came quicker than you thought, but when it did, you arrived at the courthouse 15 minutes early. Andy had told you he would give you the tour, and to wait outside for him.
you didn't have to wait long, and then the two of you were heading inside. after a quick tour, he'd given you the job of researching something for his current case.
the case made sadness fill your body as you looked at the file you were given. it was another little. she had been severely abused in her relationship, most of the time it was physical. she claimed her boyfriend was manipulative and could worm his way out of every situation, but she knew Andy was a no nonsense lawyer.
she had reportedly tried to escape, and broke her boyfriends back when he tried to push her down the stairs, but she moved out of the way and he fell.
she was being charged with assault, and no one else had taken her seriously just because she was a little. they claimed she didn't have the mental ability to claim not guilty and stand trial, and that they were recommending her take the insanity plea, which she refused.
Andy refused to take that plea deal too. with him, it was not guilty or the high way. you took a deep, calming breath, and got to work.
Tumblr media
you smiled as you finished up your research. you'd found exactly what you were looking for, and you were 100% certain that this information would allow that woman to walk free, because she was 100% not guilty.
Andy had texted you letting you know he was heading up to Lynn's office, and to bring him the research to him in the break room. you gathered up the papers, and headed out excitedly. you were so excited that you didn't see Neal rounding the corner.
you bumped into him harshly, and fell backwards, the papers scattering all over the floor. "can't you watch where you're going?" Neal boomed, and you looked down in shame.
"i-i'm sorry sir." you said. you felt your entire being become smaller and you had to fight to keep your voice steady.
"you better be! you can't go bumping into people because you don't know how to look where your walking." you nodded as he continued to yell at you, while you began slipping further and further into your little space. your chin wobbled just as Andy came barreling around the corner, hearing Neal yelling.
"HEY!" Andy shouted, making you jump. he had an angry look on his face, looking between you and Neal. his eyes found the scattered papers on the floor, and you instantly jumped up, thinking he was mad at you. "y/n-" Andy said, but you didn't let him finish. you ran down the hallway, and barrelled back into your office. you collapsed on the floor, and curled under your desk. your skirt rid up, and you wished nothing more than to be at home in your dorm.
you could hear Andy yelling, and once the yelling stopped, his footsteps came closer. he entered your office, and you watched his feet move around, looking for you. you sniffled involuntarily, and he approached the desk. he shut the door and closed the blinds before crouching down.
you curled away from him further as he laid his eyes on you. ''m sorry. didn' mean it, p'omise." he sighed, and sat down.
"i know you didn't. he bumped into you, didn't he?" he asked and you nodded.
"no' wooking where i was goin'," you said, and Andy shook his head.
"nah, Logiudice is just an asshole. don't worry about him. are you hurt?" he asked, and it was only them that you registered the throbbing in your back.
you uncurled and crawled out. Andy stood up and helped you stand. "back huwts." you whispered, and without thinking, Andy wrapped his arms around your body, rubbing his large and warm hands on your lower back.
"i'm sorry honey. is it just your back?" he asked, and you shook your head tears escaping. he looked at you questionably.
"'m bad girl." you said, and he shook his head.
"no. you're not a bad girl. you're a good girl." he said, and watched as you smiled small, and looked down at your feet. "you like it when i call you a good girl?" he asked and you nodded shyly.
he continued to rub your back, and smiled when you rested your head on his chest. "can i ask you something?" he asked, and you nodded.
"you don't seem like you're in the right headspace right now. what's going on?" he asked, and you tensed, but saw no way out. you unraveled, and looked him in the eyes.
"i'm wike da girl in da file." you said, and he tilted his head in confusion.
"what do you mean? you've pushed someone down the stairs?" he asked but you shook your head, and pulled the file that Andy had set and reorganized on the table. you opened it up, and pointed to one of the lines of the police report.
"[redacted] was age regressed at the time of the incident." he read, and suddenly, everything clicked in his head. it all made sense. the baby bottles, the paci's. how sensitive you were, and why he found you curled up under the desk.
"oh, baby." he said, and hugged you to his chest. "it'll be okay. i'll take care of you."

Neal and Andy's relationship had always been complicated.
Neal admired how Andy had carved out his career from nothing, his ease and command in the courtroom, his unmatched success. When Andy had offered tips to improve, Neal gobbled them up egarly - Andy Barber collegue, mentor, friend.
He wanted to be just like Andy.
Of course there was jealousy, at first it was all very healthy, all part of the game but as time wore on and Neal was still stuck playing second fiddle the jealousy turned to animousity. Neal had earned his dues. Earned the respect which he felt no one showed.
It was plain for all to see, particularly you. You had joined the department around the same time, work regularly together all three of you, and Neal was not a closed book (a major part of his problem in the courtroom, though you'd never say). Beside all that, he told you. Moaned every time Lynn Canavan doled out assignments giving the best to Andy. Sulked at after works drinks, when the office would toast Andy's success. Grumbled now eating post coital pizza in his boxers, when his concerns should have been firmly put to the back his mind.
You looked over at him, stuffing his face with the deep pan, red sauce and a string of mozzarella hanging limp on his chin. You wouldn't mind so much after all it's part of dating hearing your partner vent about their work, except it was all he ever did. It was always the same, you heard no new arguments or evidence of Andy's crimes against Neal but he would not let it drop. You wouldn't mind so much if he actually channeled his anger to fuck you senseless instead of leaving you unsatisfied dripping with his cum. You weren't bitter he hadn't made you orgasm, more that you didn't remember the last time he had or more importantly the last time he even bothered to check.
You'd been dating quietly for a couple of years, the not so secret office romance, you never meant for it to be serious but you used to enjoy his company. Neal had always been an arrogant sonofabitch but you'd be lying if it wasn't part of the appeal - he'd persued you, cocky and self assured and that confidence was alluring. Yes he was an asshole but not to you, he be crude and crass to others than sweet when alone, hell even throw in a little charm. And the sex wasn't always bad - Neal was big guy, fit, add in the sexiness of keeping it all hush hush, it was a good mix. You never envisioned him as 'the one', saw clearly his flaws but honestly it was convient and practical. Better Neal's flaws than weeks of dating perspective lovers before they rattled their hidden skeletons, better than unsolicited dick pics or the general chaotic minefield of dating - frankly who had the time or engery. Neal was a decent guy, good job, own teeth/hair, liked you and actually understood and supported your career, after all it mirrored his. Yes Neal had appeal, but now you thought the relationship had finally run its coarse. Things had changed between you but then things had changed for everyone.
"I can't believe you can be so cruel."
"How's it fucking cruel, that little sociopath got off scottfree and Barber is gloating! Tell me, how am I supposed to be happy?"
"Don't you have any compassion for the man? You worked with him for years and you make it out like he's concocted the entire trail to spite you. Like it's just some big game and you're pouting because you lost."
"Pouting?" He threw the pizza crust in the box and pointed at you, "why are you defending him?"
"I'm not defending anyone, I'm saying you have to feel for the guy, everything he went through, is going through."
"He's underhand, he'd do anything to win."
You scoffed, Neal catching the irony of his statement.
"Of course he would. It's his son, it's not just some defendant to him."
"He loved getting the better of me," a smirk twisted at Neal's lips, "Cold as that killer kid of his."
"Jacob isn't a killer," it was his turn to scoff, "he isn't, he was acquitted remember?"
It was a low blow reminding him of his lost but it was no use, he couldn't see his own coldness and how off putting it truly was.
You glared at each other, it was impossible to move past it, you thought when the trial was over he'd move on but all you saw was more and more ugliness. You snatched your skirt from chair and began to dress, grabbed your purse and stuffed it with belongings, you could stay a minute longer.
Neal took another piece of pie and lay back on the bed, reclining, smug in his white boxers - you leaving meant he'd got the better of the argument, he'd won, that's what was important not the fact he had lost you in the process.
"You really think Andy deserves all this sympathy?"
Turned to him, mouth open, "Yes. How can you not, his family have been torn apart by Patz as much as the Rifkins."
"His family torn itself apart. What I mean is you think he'd fight your corner? If it was the other way round do you think he be throw his life away for you?"
You placed your hands on your hip, "My life away? Don't flattered yourself. And do I think he stand up for a friend? Yes, yes I do."
"Then you are as fucking stupid as the jury." He stood, walked over, you stood firm as he placed his hands on top of shoulders, his half eaten pizza parcurioualy close to your  unbuttoned silk shirt. Eyes softened, head titled, he looked at you as if some pathetic creature, somthing to feel sorry for, "Andy always plays the game, that's why he is so good. He's shrewd and only supports those that give him an advantage."
"How are you so cynical? He supported you as much as me."
"He supported us so he could bask in our success because that was his, his little pets that do well under his guidance but never as well. After all there's only room for one at the top."
You rolled your eyes and left the argument and Neal behind.
---
You hadn't intended to go to the office but your fight with Neal made you reassess your plans. If you grabbed your files, you could work from home for a couple of days, schedule meeting with witnesses and law enforcement and avoid the place (and Neal) entirely for a spell, or at least until you cooled off. Maybe it was childish but experience had shown that sometimes a little distant helped, and you couldn't risk any unprofessionalism at work. People knew about you and Neal but it was all unoffical, little more than rumour, you had never allowed your relationship to interfer with your job, and you weren't going to now. No best to grab the files and lay low.
The offices were empty,  the rooms dark and locked, the noise of your heels echoed the empty hallway, the only person you expected to see was the security guard at the front desk who nodded as he checked your ID.
You reached your floor and were just about to unlock the door when you noticed the light bleed from one further down. The golden beam drawing your attention, the promise of the occupier more so - for you knew whose office it was.
You turned the handle and let the door to Andy's office fall open, and sure enough the tall brooding figure stood before you. His back to you, he wore a thick, dark wool jacket, loading items in to a box. He turned his head at the sound of the door, gave a nod to acknowledge you but no smile.
You leaned against the door frame, "I didn't think I'd see you here."
"Didn't think I see anyone," he returned, his voice husky, flat.
You give a small smile, it pleased you somewhat that he, like you, had concocted a similar plan, and that neither of you had gotten away with your stealthy scheme. "I mean I thought you'd collected everything."
It was true when he and Laurie had plans to move away you were sure he'd requested to gather his belongings.
"Not everything," he voice still betraying no emotion, he kept his back turned, shoulders hunched.
You moved to the desk, perched on the edge so that you could see his face, "You okay?"
His blue eyes flicked up and burned into yours - of course he wasn't okay!
"I'm sorry. How is Laurie? Jacob? We are all praying they get better."
"Are you?" His forehead creased questioning your concern, an accusation though he let it drop, "They're the same, no change which I guess is better than the alternative." He shrugged, "Why are you here so late?"
"Preemptive avoidance."
"Of?"
"You need to ask?"
"No guess not, can't imagine Neal's in the best mood."
"That's an understatement, he's taking all this as some personal insult. You know how he hates to lose."
"I don't feel like much of a winner."
"No, I know that's what I said. I mean I'm sure you're relieved..." you let your words trail, you hadn't intended to have a heart to heart, you hadn't figured you'd see him at all. You wanted to acknowledge his hurt though didn't feel adept or close enough to navigate the complexity that was now Andy Barber's life.
"You'd think Neal'd be happy now I'm out the way, he'll be top dog. Lynn's go to guy."
"He thinks it's by default," you mused.
"Oh that'll piss him off." And for the first time Andy smiled. A grin cracking through bleakness, right then you realised he had got a kick from beating Neal. A thrill from the game.
"Oh my god he was right!"
"What?" He was staring at you again, his lips a tight thin line.
"You have to always be right. You live for the win."
"I meant that I'm happy he's put out, he's hardly been a good friend lately." Andy's tone an attempt to make you doubt yourself but it's too forced and made you see Andy in a new light, not in a green glow of envy, it was harsh, cold truth.
"No, guess not." You found yourself once again not wanting to argue and remove yourself from a man in your life, you stood fixed your purse on your shoulder to leave. Before you reached the door, Andy closed it. He'd beaten you to the exit, shut it firmly so that both it and his arm barred your path.
"Where you going?"
"Home, so if you don't mind," you did your best to sound confident but your stomach had already begun to knot.
"You don't want to talk so more?" Andy's head tilted, his eyes fixed, a dangerous curve at his lips.
"I don't think so."
You moved for the handle but Andy refused to budge, the only movement the shake of his head.
"Look at you so fucking righteous, up there on your high horse looking down at me, at Neal because we got drive. But then again you never really had to fight for what you have."
"That's not-" though you didn't get chance to finish, not that Andy wouldn't have listened even if you had.
"You're all superior but you're no better. You want it too - to win, to be the best. No? Tell me I'm wrong." Andy smirked at you, you stood before him pouting, arms crossed at your chest, "Thought not. Mean that's why you chose Neal right? The biggest fish, well available fish in this place...but if you had the chance at me you'd have taken it. You'd have gone for the bigger prize."
"No," you shook your head though your voice was merely a whisper.
"Bullshit. All the times you flirted with me...late nights in here wearing see-through shirt...lacy bra...leaning in close. You wanted it. Flirted with danger but just too scared to take it. That's why you'll never be great y'know, you never take the risk." Andy had let go of the handle, he still blocked your exit but now moved close to you. Close enough that you could feel his breath as he spoke, his hooked finger brushing down your cheek, resting under your chin before forcing you to look him in the eye. "But how about now? You're here, I'm here. It never seemed worth it before, but after what Laurie did. So, here I am, yours for the taking."
Your face burned at the memory of your behaviour, as a reaction to his. You tried to step back but Andy's arms reached around you to hold you in place. Your bodies pressed together, his heat and firmness flush against you.
"Want to fuck a real man not someone always a step behind?"
Placing your hands on his chest you pushed away, stumbling when he released you. Andy's smile now wide, he took off his jacket as he stepped closer once more. Every step he took forward, matched with one you took back, till your ass hit the desk and blocked your retreat. Andy laughed.
"Andy please," you begged. You wanted to leave, you were scared. Scared of his behaviour, scared of the truth. Not only of Andy but yourself. He had been right, how often had you stayed behind just to have a moment alone with him? How many times had you 'accidentally' brushed past him, pressing your body to his? Bent over allowing him a better view of your clevege or the fullness of your ass? It was playful but you hadn't realised how dangerous the game was.
Andy continued to stalk forward, until you were trapped tight between the desk and him, purposely pressing his groin to you, the unmistakable feeling of an erection.
"So how about it? Or maybe I just take what I want anyway." He laughed at the panic that flashed across your face, "It won't come to that you're going give it to me anyway." And with that he kissed you.
Andy lips pressed firmly against yours, the pressure bruising your own, your teeth threatening to puncture the flesh unless you responded. You opened your mouth, allowing his tongue access, Andy hungrily devouring you. His large hands around your neck, his fingers tightening as he pulled you to him, deepening the kiss. You should've fought him off, slapped his face or scratched his skin but you did neither, instead your hands found his face, caressed his wiry beard and carded through his dark hair.
Andy's hands roamed your body, quickly smoothing over your shoulders ridding you of your jacket and purse, then ripping the silk shirt, the delicate buttons pinging across the room. Groping and squeezing your breasts,  you should have screamed for help instead you whimpered, overwhelmed by passion. Andy tugged at your skirt till it was rumpled at your waist, lifted you so the the desk was cold and hard under your ass, heat spreading throughout, smothering reserve and doubt.
Once perched on the empty desk, your legs spread to accommodate him, his hands left you unbucking his belt and pushing his trousers down, his hard cock springing free. You realised how you're desperate for him to touch you again, desperate to have him. Andy lips broke free, his eyes dark with lust.
"Spit," he commanded holding his hand to your mouth. You did as told, shame interrupting desire. His now wet hand pumping his cock and spreading slickness, before brushing the tip along your cunt, the strip of lace that was your only modesty yanked aside. He laughed again at how wet you were for him, how pathetic and needy. It was so obvious that Andy was reveling in the win - that he finally felt free to claim a coveted prize, that he was landing another blow to Neal's delicate pride, that he completely in control of you, you completely at his mercy.
Shunting forward, you couldn't contain a wail as Andy's cock split you open. You're wet but not fully ready, though you wonder if anything could have prepared you for his size. There's little time to adjust, Andy thrusting immediately, setting a frantic pace. He grabbed at your fleshy thighs, lifting it higher allowing him to go deeper, his fingers digging into your skin as his mouth reattached itself to you, though now he concerntrating on your neck, down to your collar bone. It's not simply the soft lips and scratch of beard but the hot slap of tongue and the graze of teeth - between his hands and mouth you're sure you'd been marked, confident you'd see the evidence of Andy's conquest for days, confident you'd feel it too.
Andy's movements a little chaotic, making you wonder if he too was simply at the mercy of his desire until one hand moved to your shoulder, his palm at the top so his thumb on your throat. He pushed you forward, stopped when you understood his intention. You lay back on the empty desk, Andy loomed over your exposed form, his cock still buried deep in your cunt, his shirt dishevelled but still covering him. Andy's hand swept down from your shoulder to your naked chest, began to grab again, holding fistful of flesh. There's no sweet caresses but when he pinched your nipples, your pussy clentched around him.
Smugness spread across his face. Andy's pace slowed, his cock ploughing forward forcing your body down into the cold wood beneath before retreating for mere seconds only to return and fuck you again. As one hand played with your tits, the thumb of his other found your clit. Andy seeking more pleasure by ensuring yours.  His thumb strumming the sensitive nub, sending sparks throughout your body, your pussy clamping around Andy's shaft as he continued to thrust. Harder, deeper. His blue eyes watching you splayed out on the desk before him, your back arching when you came, Andy fucking you through it, faster and faster till his cock swelled, stiffened and spilled inside of you.
Andy's head dropped, hiding his face though the shake of his shoulders and sound of his chuckle unmistakable - savouring the physical ecstasy, gloating at his win. For he had won, gotten everything he wanted - or so you thought but the game wasn't yet over.

My ultimate dream about ADA Andrew Barber:
So I work as a college students at his office for DA Lynn Canavan and help her around (paper work, telephone call etc). The moment I met Andy is when he and Neal are (again) fighting in her office about a case and I knock on the door to bring her the requested papers and the moment I walk in both eyes are on me; Neal trying to 'undress me with his eyes', while Andys eyes went from anger to lust, smirking. And after that it's just a play-game...Andy and Neal are both flirting with me, but my late-night-dreams are only about Mr. Barber. I begin to dress a little more playfull to tease Andy and to make it even more fun, I'll start to flirt back with Neal every time Andy is around, laughing at Neals jokes, playing with my hair...I know I'm playing with fire but my intention was just to have fun flirting with him.
Well, all fun and games until that one day at his office where he snaps. He calles me in because I forgot to tell him about an important file and he wanted to tell me that I won't be joining the meeting that day, because of my mistake. It was just a simple "I'm sorry, I'll be good, I promise I won't do it again..please Sir?" that made Andy close the door immediately and pushes me up against the wall. His hands are on my hips and he has to hold himself back not to fuck me right there and then. I still play the innocent card but oh boy that went out the window the moment Andys hand is on my neck. "You think you're funny, you think I don't know what you're doing, huh?" His eyes are on your lips when I say "Mr. Barber, I don't know what your talking about...". Then he says "Don't act all innocent now, doll. So you say that when I spread your legs, your panties aren't wet?" I fight the urge to smile, shaking my head. Andy looks angrily at me eyes saying don't-you-dare-lie-to-me. I look him in the eyes saying innocent, biting my lips"No..because I am not wearing any". Andys eyes went from angry to lust in an instance...💭
AYOOO that escalated quickly i think i stopped breathing for a second LMFAO i was invested 😩😩

Day 5. Both Lynn and Andy were stressed, no matter what they did, no matter what they showed, Richard had a comeback for everything.
“I would like to call Andrew Barber to the stand.” Lynn said and Andy walked to the bench. “Hello, Andy. How you been?”
“I’m well, thank you.”
“Excellent. Andy I want you to tell me everything that happened the day Mrs. Cox left.”
“Well, it was on August 20th. That day I woke up early as per usual. Went out for a morning run. When I came back Laurie was preparing Jake a bottle.”
“I’m sorry to interrupt but when you came back did she did or said anything that made you notice she was going to leave?”
“No. I came back, took a shower, we had breakfast together, we kissed before I left.” Andy took a breath, “I went to work. And when I came back, she was gone.”
“Where was Jake?”
“His crying was the first thing that caught my attention as I walked into the apartment. He always was a calmed baby, he only cried when he was hungry, sleepy or dirty. I walked to his room and found him in his crib. I don’t know how long he was alone, but for the dirty diaper my guess is a couple of hours. I gave him a bath, changed him, and then I went to our room. She left a letter on the bed.”
“You can see a copy of the letter in the file provided to you.” Lynn walked to be in front of Andy, “Can you assure this is a copy of the real letter?”
“Yes.”
“Mr. Barber, did you try to look for your then wife?”
“Yes, I called her and surprisingly she answered her phone. She said she wasn’t going to come back and that I shouldn’t look for her.”
“But you did look for her.”
“Of course. She was my wife. I was in love with her and she was the mother of my child. I wanted to fix things.”
“When you finally found her, what did you do?”
“She was in New York. I went there and tried to talk to her, but she was already with somebody else.”
“How do you know she was with somebody else?”
“Her secretary told me.”
“Did you talk to her?”
“No, as I told you she send a secretary to tell me she wasn’t going to receive me, so I left. A month later the divorce papers arrived to my then home along with the letter resigning to her parent rights.”
“You can see that letter as well in the file.”
“Your honor, we already made clear that that letter is not a legal document, therefore cannot be taken serious, and it shouldn’t be taken into account as evidence.” Richard said.
“I’m just showing every paper Mrs. Cox left or gave to Mr. Barber. We know is not a legal document, but whether you like it or not, it is evidence.”
“I’ll allow it.” Richard rolled his eyes, “Please, continue Mrs. Canavan.”
“Do you believe Mrs. Cox cheated on you with her now husband?”
“Objection your honor, leading the witness.”
“Sustained.”
“I’ll rephrase that. Mr. Barber, do you think the reason why Mrs. Cox left, was because she was in love with somebody else?”
“I honestly don’t know.”
“Thank you, Mr. Barber. No more questions.”
“Mr. Anderson.” Judge Choi said, “Your witness.” Richard stood and walked towards Andy.
“Mr. Barber, you were born and raised in Boston, is that correct?”
“Yes.”
“Who did you used to live with?”
“My mother, she was a nurse in a county hospital in Boston.”
“Do you have brothers or sisters?”
“No, I was an only child.”
“Where was your father?” Andy got nervous.
“My father…” Andy looked at Lynn who nodded. “He is in prison.”
“Care to tell us why is he in prison?”
“He raped and murdered a girl. I was a kid back then.”
“Did you and Mrs. Cox ever argue before she left?”
“Yes, we had problems like any married couple.”
“What kind of problems?”
“Money problems.”
“Thank you, Andy. No more questions.”
“Alright,” Judge Choi said, “We will take a break and come back in an hour.”

Laurie was in the stand, her hand over a bible and the other raised.
“Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you, God?” The deputy asked Laurie.
“I do.”
“Have a sit.”
Laurie sat and Richard walked towards the stand.
“Mrs. Cox. How did you two met?”
“In NYU, we met at a party and we started to date.”
“How long after you started dating did you get pregnant?”
“About six months, we were in our last year.”
“How did you feel when you find out you were pregnant?”
“Scared. I think is a common feeling when you are not planning on having a baby.”
“What were your plans for after you graduate?”
“I was planning to stay in New York for a while maybe travel and then find a job as a painting restorer. I’ve always love art.”
“But then you got pregnant, and moved here with Andy.” She nodded, “Why?”
“Well, Andy was offered a position here, and since we were having Jake we needed something stable, so we moved.”
“Did you ever talk to Mr. Barber about coming back to New York?”
“Yes, but he always said no, he was focus on making a career in this place.”
“We already heard Mr. Barber’s version of the day you left. Would you please be so kind to tell us what actually happened that day?”
“It was August 20th. When I woke up Andy was gone, he used to work out or run in the morning before he left for work. I stood and took care of my baby, you know I cleaned him, changed his diaper, and then I went to prepare his bottle.”
“When Andy came back for his morning run, did you two argue?”
“Yes, I had asked him for some money and he refused to give it to me.”
“What was the money for?”
“Some house things.”
“What happened after Andy left for work?”
“I cleaned the apartment, spend time with Jake. The usual, I didn’t do much since I wasn’t working at the time.”
“Why weren’t you working if Jake was already one?”
“Well, we moved here before Jake was born. I didn’t have a job back then. Andy took care of the bills. I tried to look for a job after Jake was born but in a place like this there weren’t many options for a painting restorer.”
“When did you find out about Andy’s father?”
“Two months before I left. Andy never talked about his family. I met his mom, real nice woman, she was excited for our relationship, but unfortunately she passed away. But, whenever I asked about his dad he always said he was dead, he didn’t know him, and changed the topic.”
“When did you suspect he wasn’t telling the truth?”
“I asked him where his dad was buried and he didn’t give me an answer. I look for the name he had given me once on google and well his case appeared.”
“Were you afraid of him after you read the story of his dad?”
“Yes, I thought that if he had hidden something like that it must’ve been because he was like his dad.” A few tears rolled down her cheeks. Andy just shook his head, she was a pretty damn good actress. Richard passed her a tissue, “I wanted to get out, and I knew that if I confronted him he would’ve been violent, that’s why I left.”
“Your honor as you can hear, my client was afraid of his then husband, and she ran away. That doesn’t mean she didn’t want to see her son anymore.” Judge Choi listened and scribble something in his papers, “How you met Michael Cox?” Richard continued.
“He was a friend of a friend back in NYU. I told him I needed to go to New York and he helped me.”
“Did you fall in love with him after or before you left Andy?”
“After. Michael was nothing but kind and nice to me.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Cox. No more questions, your honor.”
“Mrs. Canavan, your witness.”
Lynn stood and walked with confidence to Laurie.
“Mrs. Cox. You said you and Andy argue before he left for work that day.”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“You said you asked him money to buy some things for your house.”
“Yes, that’s correct.”
“Ok, and how is a new pair of shoes something for the house.”
“Well, we all need clothes, don’t we?”
“Yes, of course. But a pair of shoes is not something essential for the house.”
“That’s what you think.”
“Mrs. Cox did you ever love Mr. Barber?”
“He got me pregnant. I think that answer your question.”
“No, not really. You’ll see in this business we always see many women who got pregnant over other things but love. So, I’ll ask you again. Were you, at some point, in love with Andy Barber?”
“Yes, I was.”
“So if you were in love, why were you afraid of him?”
“Did you not listen to what I said? I found out his dad murdered someone! I was not planning to stay with someone with that kind of background.”
“But you knew him, you dated him. I think that if you were in danger you would’ve noticed since the first date. We women know when a man doesn’t have good intentions and yet you kept dating him, you feel in love and then you got pregnant. You married, you moved here, and then you left.”
“I told you, I didn’t know about his father until we were here and Jake was already born.”
“So, knowing about his father made you feel unsafe?” Laurie just nodded, “Honey if he had wanted to hurt you he wouldn’t had married you.”
“Objection, your honor. What kind of comment is that?!”
“Sustained.”
“I’ll continue. I’m a mother of two beautiful girls, I’ll do anything for them, anything.” Laurie stared at her as Lynn walked in front of the stand. “So I don’t understand how a mother will leave her one year old baby with someone she thinks is dangerous. It doesn’t make any sense. As a mother all we want is for our kids to be safe, then why would you leave him with the son of a murdered?” Laurie just stared at her, opened her mouth to answer but nothing came out. Lynn raised her eyebrow and smiled, “No more questions, your honor.”
“Ok, we had heard enough for today. This case is dismissed until next week.” Judge Choi raised and left the room.
“That last part, was really good.” Andy said to Lynn.
“Thanks, she is saying a bunch of nonsenses. I think you might be right, she doesn’t want Jake, she wants something else, and we better find out what before the judge believes her fake tears and wins.”

Murderer - Short
Tumblr media
Warnings: Mentions of Murder Summary: Andy Barber is a district attorney and is called in after a murder has been committed. He could not take the case by the orders of the department for the middle-aged woman who was murdered. They suspected it was his wife, Y/N Barber.
Author’s Note: We need a husband who can defend their wife under any circumstance. Okay?
Also I needed to get some things off my mind, I’m having a hard writer’s block and so that’s why I’m having so many drabbles. I’m gonna have to make a separate master list for those drabbles.
No Part Two, Take it.
Love you!
~~~
The case was taken just a few days ago by Andy. He was trying to have Detective Duffy get as much evidence to find the killer. The person who was murdered was one of Y/N’s friends. The victims husband says she was on her daily walks and somehow she didn’t come back.
Andy was talking to a few people who knew the victim very well.
The way how she died was not pleasant. He could tell where the blade had stroke. All that blood and metallic smell that filled the air with the added fresh wet mud.
He was at his desk and he gets a call. He picks it up, “Andy Barber.”
“Mr. Barber?” It was Lynn Canavan.
“Yes?”
“Can I have you here at the department? We’d like to talk about the case for Jane Lanston’s murder.” Andy inhales deeply. “I’ll be there in a minute.”
The drive was short. He was getting anxious the closer he got there. Was it something they have a lead on? He reached the department and walked into the building. Duffy met him outside the conference room. He saw police officers and Lynn at the table. He was confused.
“What’s going on?” He asked.
Lynn tells him to sit down and so he does. She opens the file in front of her. “We were looking over Jane’s body and we know that she was stabbed 33 times. A strike to the neck and then the rest around her torso with the bruises added onto her back.
She slides him a file, “Those were the fingerprints we got out off the body.” Andy takes the file and looks at the fingerprints. “We have some bad news,” Andy shoots up at Lynn. “The fingerprints on the woman’s jacket... is from your wife.”
Andy pauses. He tilts his head, “Wait, what?” He looks over the files again. “We did a double check and we are positive this is from your wife, Y/N.”
“There’s gotta be an explanation. They’ve been friends since high school, they’re neighbors.”
“Yes, we know that,” Lynn said, Andy looks at the officers and then back at Lynn. He’s in shock. He places his hand on the table. “Lynn have you arrested my wife?”
“We’re sorry to say this but with your wife as a suspect for a murder, we have to take you off this case-”
“I need to know, Lynn! Have you arrested my wife? Is she in cuffs at this moment?”
“Yes, but we can’t have you on this case-” Andy stands up. “Can I see her? Please, Lynn, can I at least have a word with her?” They said nothing further as they took Andy to the back towards his wife they kept her for interrogation. The officer stops and opens the door.
Andy walks in immediately it had opened and saw his wife at the table. She looks up, “Andy-” She went to sit up till the cuffs around her wrists caught the table.
He looks at the officer, “Get those cuffs off her.” The officer doesn’t budge to reach for the keys. “Sir, we cannot do that, it’s a safety-”
“She’s my wife! Open those cuffs!” Andy snaps. He watches as the officer walks over to the table and reaches for the cuffs. He unlocks them and takes them with him as he leaves the room.
Andy walks over to her and he pulls her into a hug. “Andy...” She whispers. He holds her close to his chest. “I don’t know what’s happening...” Her voice cracks as she held on for her life.
He never pulls away, the tears fell from his eyes. “I need to know what’s going on, Y/N.”
“I don’t know, I just opened the door and they put me in cuffs. I didn’t do it... I swear, Andy... I didn’t...” She sobs.
Andy needed to do something.
“Don’t let them take me away, An... please...”
He caresses her hair and sniffles, “I won’t let them take you... I promise...”
