i like to think everyone has a colour associated with them, whether its just your fave colour or what you generally wear most of or what colour your bedroom walls are. i always associate the name sophie with dark blue, my mum is always a nice turquoise, i like to think my colour is a bright sunflower yellow.

Hi everyone! I've been thinking nonstop about an EPIC AU and while I don’t plan on writing a full fanfic, I do want to post headcanons about it here like many others do, and maybe inspire someone along the way.

My issue is… I’m the kind of AU writer who really cares about staying close to canon. And Greek mythology canon is intimidating as hell (I haven’t even watched an Odyssey summary yet 💀).

Yes, I know a lot of people here just throw headcanons into the wind with zero canon support and it’s amazing and fun and I love that. But it’s not okay when I do it. You know the type 😔.

Writing something this far from canon kinda terrifies me 😭 so I would really appreciate your thoughts, ideas, or even just moral support.

So, here’s the raw idea:

In this AU, both Odysseus and Penelope go to Troy (details still in progress, it probably involves a prophecy because when these people got a prophecy, their lives went wild). That leaves Telemachus completely alone in Ithaca as a baby. At first, his grandparents—Anticlea and Laertes—act as regents. But eventually they get word that Troy has fallen… and neither of his parents come home.

Time passes. His grandmother dies of heartbreak, and Laertes’ mind—already fragile in his old age—starts to deteriorate again. By the time Telemachus is 13, the people of Ithaca crown him king, just like they once did with his father. Tragedy repeats.

That’s the main concept for now! I’m still developing what happens during the next 7 years of his reign, what struggles he faces, and what emotional/plot parallels we can explore. But before I start posting content, I need help choosing a name for this AU.

I'm curious...

For the sake of simplicity/limited options, your name is any name that you commonly go by, or have gone by at some point in your life (whether it's a legal name, a nickname, or a screenname that your friends know you by).

A designated character name (for the 11th option) would be a name that you commonly use for your character, but do not go by yourself. Like if you just happen to always name your protagonist "Steve", but no one ever refers to you as Steve.
