Fury of the Druid: Part 2
It had grown closer as the night had gone on. And yet, that wasn’t the reason Lyria was shivering. Anger. Anxiety. Nervous Excitement. So many things to overtake her senses as she sat there posted up on the wall opposite the outpost. But, fuck, why was it so damn cold out tonight?!
“Ok, shift change in 5 minutes. Be ready to move. And be careful, we don’t want to garner unwanted attention unless we have no choice.” She heard Petra voice over the comms.
It was pretty well documented and accepted at this point that Petra led just about anything other than double dates. Petra had built a lifetime of experience knowing her way around every kind of combat op you could imagine, so Lyria couldn’t complain.
Petra continued. “So this guy that’s coming in is a new hire. From what I gathered, he’s just trying to pay rent, so his loyalty is serviceable at best. That and if we do this right, Main Security won’t be able to track where we came in from, so he won’t be implicated.”
Lyria gave a slight smile. “Given how paranoid the CEOs are, you’d think they would be a little better at beefing security up.”
Emily sounded apprehensive. “That’s what scares me. It feels like we’re walking into a trap. They may not know we’re coming, but they might be prepared for the possibility that something is going down.”
You could hear Petra’s smile through the mic. “I have no doubt they have an idea that we’re coming and I’ve already planned for countermeasures. Unless they have any supernaturally devastating surprises, whatever they have planned won’t do them any good. Trust me, this ain’t my first rodeo.”
Lyria and Emily hopped over the lip of the rooftop and down into the street. After the assault on Atlas and several heroes saved the world from a tyrant, Atlas became the rich district of Mantle. It hadn’t changed much, but nonetheless, at least it wasn’t floating, which made things easier. Lyria thanked the Wildmother that she didn’t have to fly another plane.
Petra continued to speak eloquently yet quietly into her earpiece. “Ok, you have two minutes to get what we need. The second we get the feed from the cameras, Aerin can hack us in and we’ll have freedom of movement as long as we’re careful.”
Emily had to recalibrate her entire brain. “Waiwaiwaiwaiwait…AERIN IS AN EXPERT HACKER?!”
Aerin quietly drifted onto the comms. “Well yeah. How else would we work around stuff like this as a hitwoman?”
Lyria rolled her eyes back into her skull. “Can we PLEASE unpack this later?”
Petra continued. “Your two minutes start…now.”
Emily and Lyria hop the wall and the guard turns around to see Velvet Cinder in their throat. Emily slipped over to the console. Lyria held the guard in place. “Pronouns?” The guard was terrified. “He/him.” He spoke back to Lyria. “Well, sir, make any loud noises or sudden movements and I will liberate you of those pronouns along with your life. What’s the password to the security hub? I promise we’re not here to hurt you, we’re here to deal with your employers.”
He spoke softly. “Qliphoth. The password changes every day depending on the CEO’s mood, so if you’re gonna be here long, you’ll need the next password from people higher than me.”
Lyria smiled. “If our visit goes well, we won’t be here long enough for it to matter. Thank you for your cooperation. They won’t even know we were even here, ok? So don’t you worry. Get what we need, Em?”
Emily nodded. “All good here. Your bosses must have a sick sense of humor to pick the trees that grow in the underworld as a password. Team 1, you should be getting the feeds from all the cameras.”
All of a sudden, Petra spoke. “Heading to you while Aerin fucks with the hacking. Keep your heads on a swivel.”
Lyria pulled the her blade away from the guard. “Ok, Em, let’s go. Thank you, sir. And if I may, find yourself a new line of work. These people are bad people and are better off being avoided.”
The girls slipped into the night. Emily gave Olive a strawberry and she crawled into her hood and started nibbling. “Racking up quite a debt with Petra on this familiar. Liv has saved my ass more times than I can count at this point. Being able to see is the best.”
That sentence was followed by an immediate *clang* chased by a resounding “owww”. Lyria surpressed the intense urge to laugh, but only just barely. “What was that you said? Seeing is great?” Emily snarled. “It’s not an exact science, ok? I gave my eyes a fruit…”
They continued towards the main building, which was this massive gilded palace shaded with red and black. Warehouses and factories lined the facility, completely surrounding the main complex that looked almost like a castle out of a fairy tale.
Emily had activated her aura as she spoke. “It’s like they’re trying to lean into the villain role.”
Lyria could feel a grim feeling swallow her stomach. “This isn’t even the worst of it.”
Lyria felt the dark traumatic strings or memory wrap around her heart and squeeze. All of the pain of being used physically and emotionally rushed to fill the pit in her stomach as everything came crawling back.
As the slid behind the closest warehouse, Petra and Aerin dropped from the roof silently. “Our surveillance is online without any resistance. It’s like we’re ghosts. As far as we’re aware, no one knows we’re here.”
Lyria stood and reached out her senses. Every pulse and presence in the facility, she could feel in her mind. She scanned the main building first and noticed a few things. “Strange lack of security, but it looks like they have their personal guard. If we thought there was gonna be a trap, it’s been set in motion. Something feels off. There is also a weird overpopulation of people in the weapon testing facility. Almost like they’re guarding something.”
Aerin continued to scan the cameras to see if she could get some specifics. “It’s weird. It feels like whatever they are hiding, it’s important, but they also have people not even dressed as guards wandering the areas, so I can’t imagine they’d .”
Lyria’s entire body immediately tightened. “What do they look like?”
Aerin continued. “Honestly? Like me. An unsettling type of stoic.”
Lyria turned off her aura. “Fuck. Ok, here’s the plan. That’s not my dad’s personal guard. They are incredibly lethal. We get in, we kill my parents, we get out. No exceptions. Aerin, you and I will take the main house. If my family is here, that’s where they will be. Petra and Emily, I need you to sneak into that weapon testing site. If my father has plans for something, then I’d rather he not have it, particularly if it’s dangerous. DO NOT GET CAUGHT.”
Petra looked like she had just been told she couldn’t have dessert and Lyria couldn’t blame her, but nonetheless, they weren’t prepared to fight them. Lyria was not subjecting them to the miserable amount of degradation she was subjected to in their care. Minimal risk was the only way.
Lyria turned to her squad of gays and spoke once more. “We will make it out of here. Be careful, be quiet, and be quick. If we’re lucky, no one will ever know we were here. Good luck.” With those words, the two teams split to pursue what was likely to be one of the most difficult nights any of them would ever experience.

Throne of Glass Generation 2 | Rowaelin’s Children
I’m so sorry this took so long to come out. School started last week, and I’m in a few activities, so I’ve been super busy. But here we are now, and I’ll try to continue posting about Gen 2 so y’all can get to know them all. (There’s SO many). Please send me asks about them, they really help me develop personalities for them more!
---
Lyria Nehemia Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius:
Rowaelin’s eldest daughter and first born child. Golden hair and green eyes. She can control both flames and ice/wind, though her powers lean more towards fire. She’s wild and slightly crazy, very used to getting her way. She’s very smart and calculating, but can be silly, and more importantly, sarcastic. She’s also very loud and has a temper that she really needs to learn to reign in. Would die for her siblings, feels like she has to protect them at all times even though they can take care of themselves. Wants to stand out but wants to fit in at the same time, a bit confused.
Sam Gavriel Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius:
Rowaelin’s eldest son and second born. Silver hair and Ashryver eyes. Can control both flames and ice/wind, but leans more towards ice/wind. Can shift into a Red-tailed hawk. A year younger than Lyria and her opposite. Quiet and reserved, since he’s used to all the attention being on his sister. Chivalrous and caring, loves books more than life itself, loves music and is a good dancer. He is incredibly smart, can speak several languages fluently, but he really likes to be alone. Actually incredibly funny and his best talent is pissing Lyria off.
Aspen Rhoe Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius:
Rowaelin’s third born child, second eldest son. Silver hair and green eyes. Looks exactly like his father. His only powers are ice and wind, no flames. Can shift into a white-tailed hawk. He is literally Rowan stuffed into the body of a teenager. Looks like Rowan but without the tattoo. Honorable, silent, proud, and really really powerful. Is perceived as a stone-cold bastard but is really just a big softy with a mean resting bitch face. The thing unlike his father is he’s a very big reader and could live off of chocolate. Very territorial over his siblings, especially his little sisters. Often covers for Sam during training since his older brother hates it.
Evalin Elena Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius:
Rowaelin’s fourth born and second eldest daughter. Silver hair and ocean-blue eyes, nobody knows where she got those from. Control over flames, ice, and wind, powers lean towards all equally. Can shift into a peregrine falcon. She is the epitome of a princess. Regal and lovely, loves her luxury, could not survive without her maid. A little spoiled but still very kind. She’s a bit of a wimp and kind of squeamish but that won’t stop her from literally beating you up. She may just cry afterwards.
Aerith Essar Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius:
Rowaelin’s fifth born and third eldest daughter. ½ of the infamous Galathynius twins. Was born three minutes earlier than her twin and she never lets him forget it. Silver hair and Ashryver eyes. Unlike her sisters she keeps her hair shoulder length. Powers over flame, ice, and wind, leaning more towards ice and wind. Can shift into a red-shouldered hawk. Super mischievous and playful, a total goof. She’s very creative and likes to write; sometimes she’ll just be talking and she thinks of something and has to write it down right away. She got a bunch of notebooks for her birthday once and they are her most treasured possessions. She has a heart of gold and is super caring, she can’t stand to see anyone in pain. The power she uses most is the tiny drop of water from her mother’s side, and she uses it to heal. Shy around strangers but boisterous around family.
Thallan Ress Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius:
Rowaelin’s sixth born and third eldest son, their youngest child by only three minutes. Silver hair and Ashryver eyes. Other half of the Galathynius twins. Power over flame, ice, and wind, with powers leaning towards fire. Can shift into a red-shouldered hawk. He’s the mastermind behind all of Aerith’s plans and pranks. He understands his twin better than anyone and always knows exactly what to say to her. Creative and fun-loving, usually doesn’t have a care in the world. However, very caring at the same time. Loves to help, his favorite place in the world is in the kitchen, and not just because food. He loves to listen to stories and help out, and is very proud of his work. He is super high-energy and gets distracted and restless easily, and he loves flying.

THEY ARE MINE
The world of Cor Varias had known its fair share of hardships. The gods, caring for the people they watched over, stepped back from the world to watch from afar. As civilization grew around the scars of the Disparity, the world and its inhabitants began to progress the world due to their own cooperation and ingenuity rather than leaning on divine powers too much. And the gods wouldn’t have had it any other way.
The prime heads of the deities had issued the Law of Direction. Divine beings could not directly interfere with mortal progress. They could appoint clerics and paladins and influence many other heroes, but even with them, they could not directly intercede in any way that would dramatically alter mortality’s development. Any choices or efforts or any discoveries could only be influenced by divine help if directly called on by mortality and, even then, the deities could only offer minor aid unless it was to intercept any malevolent divine force.
Mortality grew and, eventually, a lot of the gods faded into obscurity, though still watching from afar. The world grew its own conflicts and mortality continued to rise and fall with each decade. No one new the threats that lay within chains or deep within the abyss were stirring.
In a tower beyond space and time, a cloak battered against the pace of her walking as she entered the meeting chamber where several demigods like herself stood around a table. Her eyes red and lavender as she took her seat.
“Feels weird to call us a council, so I won’t. Especially since we’re all married. In any case, Cor Varias is in trouble as you all know and as much as we want to do this for ourselves, the Law of Direction limits our ability, even as demigods.” Petra spoke.
Haley smiled. “I’ve been doing some research and I think I found us some candidates for eyes on the ground. We obviously can’t bless them like gods, but we can help steer them in the right direction.”
Marasenna, in her intimidating glory, nodded. “We also aren’t as bound by the law so we can actively fight these threats. But these three will have to take the lead.”
Lyria restrung her bow. “Well, then I guess we have our work cut out for us. Who do we have?”
Verity placed out three dossiers on the table. “One is a sorcerer. A diplomat of the Tabaxi Order. Incredibly powerful. Nearly impossible to kill and has a twinge of dark in them.”
Emily, eyes still closed in meditation, agreed and continued. “There is also a tiefling. Deep hemocraft is woven into her blood, but something stole her memory. She knows nothing of her past, but she has a fight in her you can’t match.”
Aerin continued. “And finally, a cleric like you, Petra, but this one harbors an aura of death. The Mistress, Malathriel, has taken a special interest in her. Loving family, but she also houses something ancient. Malathriel loves, cherishes, and cares deeply for her clerics and has always honored the Law, but this young aasimar also harbors power from the deep. We suspect Zigguridan and his cult had a hand in it.”
Petra drifted her hands over the dossiers. “Well, they all fit the part. They have a long journey ahead of them. Especially if the hope to catch us and our thousands of years of experience. Nonetheless, we can’t let our foes know we are making moves. Senna, Em, and Haley, I think you should go wake them up. Cor Varias is about to get very interesting indeed.”
@ebevkisk, I spite wrote this. Also, an introduction to my new world I’m building and I think you’ll love who protects this world. Consider this a reminder of my darling lovelies as well as my D&D characters written as the SHOULD have been written.

Rough TDoV today. Trans people are not in the best of spots right now, especially in America, but hopefully, this little story about my lovely OC’s will help you feel a little more at home and like you’re not alone in the world. We stand together. Happy Trans Day of Visibility, my siblings. @ebevkisk
Hearts and Minds
Haley found themselves in a block. To be fair, they’d also not had breakfast today. Or lunch. Speaking of which, what time is it?
A voice from the sending intercom system Haley had installed in Olvara’s Pocket jumpscared them. “Haley, I swear to the gods, you better have eaten something or I’m gonna drag your gender-neutral ass up those stairs into the kitchen and force feed you.”
Mama Lyria clearly was doing her job, but, gods, was she terrifying. Haley twisted her final screw and sprinted up the stairs.
Haley found a full dinner set out. Strangely, it was all of Petra’s, Emily’s, and Haley’s favorite foods. Lots of meat and fresh fruit for Petra, pasta and potatoes for Emily, and breakfast food and sugary stuff for Haley.
“Uh, mom? What’s the celebration for?”
Lyria came out of the kitchen with a giant grin on her face. “First off, I’m younger than you, don’t call me mom. It’s weird. Second, Emily told me about this holiday they celebrated where she came from and I wanted to celebrate you three.”
Haley still looked confused. “But why us?”
Lyria walked over and put her hands on Haley’s 5’4” shoulders. “Don’t act like you don’t know. Whenever you, Emily, and Petra go out, I see how they treat you. I know not presenting as what most people would consider normal is difficult.”
Still confused, Haley walked towards her chair. “But neither Petra or Emily are Tieflings, Lia.”
Lyria frowned. “You know that’s not what I meant.”
That’s when it finally hit them. “You know I don’t care about that stuff.”
Lyria sat on their lap, prompting a strained “why?” from Haley. “Hun, I don’t know if you just ignore it or if you don’t notice you do it, but you give a small wince whenever someone misgenders you. You may not hear it, but I do.”
Haley felt an anger they hadn’t felt in a while well up in her chest. “Is it really that hard? I wear my necklace everywhere. I try to correct people as often as I can and yet still people use she/her this and he/him that. It’s not rocket science.”
Lyria stood up and found tears in their eyes. She wrapped her arms around them. “That’s why we do this. You see Petra and Emily struggle. I know a lot of people aren’t entirely well informed about gender change magic, but Petra IS a wizard.”
Haley rested their head in their wife’s well-endowed chest and breathed a heavy sigh. “I don’t need to change anything. Emily didn’t. I mean, she took some kind of therapy so her body would be more feminine, but that’s not the point. I shouldn’t have to change anything. I like my figure, I like my assets. Even my butt looks great. I know I look more feminine than androgynous, but that shouldn’t change how people see me.”
Lyria squeezed them tight. “I know that. Everyone in this keep knows that. That's why I like doing this. You shouldn’t have to change for everybody. I know the world doesn’t exactly treat you well right now, but, hopefully one day, they will. I don’t exactly know what kind of burden you carry, but both Em and Petra do.”
Just as she said that…
“HELLS YES!” Emily shouted from the doorway. “This is for that TDoV thing I told you about, isn’t it, Lia?!”
Lyria nodded and Emily ran over and gave them both a big hug. The rest of the keep filed in and joined in the hug. They didn’t know why, but a group hug felt needed. As they broke apart to eat, Lyria gave one more hug. “Never feel like you have to change for people. The world is a brutal place, but with family like this? They make it easier. They’ll come around and, if they don’t, we’ll keep standing up for you until they do.”
Haley smiled and turned to see Senna reaching for a brownie.
“Senna, I swear to the gods, you touch that brownie and I don’t care if you’re a dragon or not, I will eat your hand.”

Ok, so Lyria’s is a very long story. Very lore heavy because all of this is intertwined with her origin. It’s chunky, but I’m very proud of it and I hope you like it. @ebevkisk
Sylvan Bravery
Cor Varias carried a wide spectrum of creatures and societies. This was just as much a gift as it was a curse. Greed, thirst for power, and ego was an even more brutal mistress than most people knew. Thankfully, the Carnelian Senate, a group of the leaders composed of the main cities of Cor Varias, helped make decisions as well as allow the voices of the general population.
That, however, did not stop the higher classes from attempting to run the world.
In the royal city of Pelevair, the world’s richest and most decisively lucky people mingled in a city crafted out of ivory and marble. Pelevair once was the seat of the Druids and those that spoke for the natural world, but they traveled east once they discovered that the people were descending into a state of greed, but there were still consecrated locations that lingered in the Pearlescent City, namely the Senate Pagoda and the Tree of Veloria. Both were named neutral ground and effectively not part of the city. Several Druids and rangers stayed to keep the peace, but corruption ran rampant.
And the Peregrine family was no different.
Ambassador of the city to the Senate, Orryn Peregrine, and her husband, Geltir, both elves of the highest order loved nothing more than perfect order in their household. Stoic and iron faced, they were richer than most people knew. They also had a daughter.
Lyria was a faunus. Cor Varias, in its thousands of years of growth and development, had not only become diverse, but even humanoid species had become intermingled with a certain genetic mutation. Veloria, Goddess of Nature, the deep forests, and spiders, presented a gift among the Druids back when the Druids had helped curb the Disparity. This mutation allowed for a distinct animalistic advantage among its people as those with the gift had one or two traits of one of Veloria’s beloved menagerie of creatures. Though they were revered in the past, it definitely did not stay that way.
Lyria, through complicated family dynamics, was born a snow fox faunus. As she popped out, her white ears immediately earned a distaste from her parents, especially her father. Their status would dwindle if the world knew that their own child was a bastard, so she spent her life in her own house, learning to be a housewife and a model citizen.
She did her best to be perfect, but every day was worse than the last. The only walls she’d ever known were those of her house and, every day, she stared out at the trees that sat off in the horizon, wishing she could feel the grass between her toes and the wind on her skin, but every day, her house became more of a prison and she became more and more miserable with each moment.
When she turned 18, her parents arranged her marriage to an heir to the Port of Desriel on the southern side of the island. In order to finalize the proceedings, Lyria had to be taken to meet her future husband. It would be a several day trip and she’d have to be present to meet her future spouse.
“Now, darling, no speaking unless you’re spoken to. This is very important for you and your parents, so do as you're told and this will all go swimmingly.”
As they began the long trek through the snow and ice in the town cars they owned, the Peregrines remained blissfully unaware of what the celestial bodies had in store for their voyage.
Now, the planet of Cor Varias has two suns. Velor and Multaea were a yellow and a black sun that rotated just as much as Cor Varias did around them though much faster. Velor, the yellow sun burned with severe intensity, but it was tempered by the lack of heat that Multaea emanated. This is what created the seasons. Winter came whenever Multaea became the closest sun to Cor Varias.
Cor Varias also has two moons. Deias was a gorgeous navy to luminescent cerulean moon that changed depending on the day and season and Felgor was a deep yet ominous shade of orange, and though the black sun was just that, it still created an foreboding and deep orangish tint to the world during a Feltaean Eclipse.
Many theories were argued and debated by world philosophers since the world had lived with these celestial bodies since they had been around for thousands and thousands of years. Way past the survival of any original records. However, Cor Varias also intrinsically carried magic. No one was prepared for what the seasons brought.
As the town car entered the Forest of Somnulis as they headed on their way, Lyria was entranced by the glow of the orange glow. Lyria only ever saw her castle grounds and it really wasn’t much to look at once you’d seen it a million times. It was the coldest night of the year, and an Eclipse at that which made it all the more difficult to see, but the forest still had an eerie grace to it.
As they trundled on, a noise came out of the forest. Almost like the monsters she imagined when reading the stories at home.
“Just the elk in the forest. Push on.” Her father said. The chauffeur nodded and continued onwards.
Out of nowhere, massive snapping sounds echoed. A massive deer crashed through the underbrush. Glowing green eyes, muscular, angry as all hell, and with razor sharp teeth. Lyria gasped. Everything she’d ever read about deer told her that deer were harmless. Right?
Its antlers were massive and sharp as swords as its head thrashed about in terrible agony and hatred as it turned and rushed the vehicle. Her parents screamed as the deer rammed the car, the antlers piercing the car’s steel and glass with ease. Lyria, for a second, didn’t feel anything until she looked down to see the antler piercing her gut. Falling into shock, she felt her body go limp as the deer yanked its antlers out of the car, pulling her with it and rushing deeper into the forest. She could hear her parents yelling after her but there was nothing she could do. Just sit and wait for death. As she fell unconscious, she could feel her fingers freezing as the frostbite set in slowly as she waited, limp and lost.
Lyria woke up to the sound of the roaring fire. Her limbs felt warm, but her body felt incredibly sore. Stiff and weak, she tried to sit up.
“No, no no, hun. You need to lay down. You’re gonna open your wounds again. I tried to sew and heal you the best I could, but I can only do so much.” A voice said somewhere to her left. Feminine in nature, but with a much deeper timbre and gentler than anyone she’d ever known.
As Lyria laid back down, she realized the sun was coming up. Light was hitting the sky which meant she’d been out all night. She felt around and felt a very deep gash in her stomach. Checking her face, she found a deep cut on her eyebrow and her lip had been split open.
“How am I alive?” Lyria said, still attempting to sit up.
The voice walked over with a steaming cup. “Here, drink this. It won’t get rid of the pain, but it will help you feel a bit better. It’s chocolate.”
Lyria took a sip. It was delicious. Better than any drink the kitchen ever gave her.
As she drained the cup, her vision started to clear to find a very muscular woman. Green glowing eyes that she found eerily familiar, but with a worried yet calming expression on her face. As the woman stood up, she looked about 6’4” and was built like a statue. Clothes tattered and worn, but she looked like she couldn’t care less that her boobs were out.
Lyria finally sat up and took a look at herself. Nice clothes? Replaced with dry clothes made out of fur. Gash still very much there, but the pain was thudding at a bearable pace now rather than causing her to white out in agony.
“I hope you don’t mind. You would have died of hypothermia if I didn’t replace your clothes. They were soaked and you were already nearly frozen solid.”
Lyria nodded and scooted closer to the fire. She had on fur lined leggings, a skirt, and a shirt that smelled like wild animals. Tanned a long time ago, but very comfy.
“Did you see the deer that did this to me?” Lyria asked, already kind of knowing the answer.
The woman sighed. “That deer was me. My name is Peloya. People aren’t supposed to be in Veloria’s Balefire during the Eclipse. People around here know that, but as of recently, lots of out of town travelers have been ignoring the warnings.”
Lyria was confused. “I thought this forest was called Somnulis.”
The woman gave a small chuckle. “That’s what the rich people call it. Lack of faith in the higher beings, I’m guessing.”
Lyria looked around. “So what happened to you? Are all deer like that?”
The woman’s face fell again. “Veloria’s Balefire is a home for many creatures society deems a danger to the population. Every couple years, this forest becomes a safe haven for many creatures torn between society and the deep dangers the natural world can inflict on others. Therianthropes live our lives as normally as we can, but when the moons are full, our form is shifted into that of one of Veloria’s creations. When Deias is out, it’s pretty tame. Usually just a creature you could see anywhere, a wolf, a bear, I even know a few fish and sharks. But when that demonic orange moon is out when paired with Multaea, our transformations are distorted, corrupted. Most of us become violent, we lose our sense of self for the night. I promise you I did not mean to…oh no…”
As Lyria looked at the woman, a fear crossed the woman’s face as she turned back to grab something. The woman pulled out a mirror and, sure enough, staring back at Lyria, were two glowing green eyes.
“I am so sorry. The reason we all stay in this forest is because we don’t want to endanger others, but it looks like you’re one of us now.”
Lyria felt her body start to shake. As if her head was on fire, her skull started to shift and change. Fur started to grow from her body and she doubled over as her hands slowly became two hooves. Her clothes disappeared into the fur and in seconds, she found herself in the body of an elk. A female elk with antlers. As she looked around, still very self aware, she tried to speak, but all that came out was a screech.
The woman looked at the clearly confused deer with a truly stressed face. “This wasn’t supposed to happen.”
Lyria screeched again.
“I know you’re upset. It’s your first transformation. It usually happens within the first few hours of infection.”
Lyria screeched indignantly.
“Of course, you’re a girl deer. Look at your antlers. And only female deer make that noise.”
Lyria huffed and stamped her hoof.
“Yes, I can understand you. I’m a druid. I speak sylvan, though you should be able to speak it too now because…well…”
Lyria screeched again.
“Yes, I’ll teach you everything I know. I guess I kind of owe it to you at this point. Veloria will also want to meet you. You’d make a great Druid.”
Lyria huffed again and nudged her with her nose.
“My butt does NOT look fat. I know this is deserved, but just because your parents decided to drive through here on the worst night of the year doesn’t mean you can be rude.”
Lyria snorted as she knelt down to sleep. Still very confused, but strangely, this was a mild improvement from the hell she was set to live in at the hands of her parents. Maybe this could be a good thing.
Several years later, a group of hunters stalked the dark forest of Veloria’s Balefire. Legends had grown of a dangerous breed of creatures that lived deep within the woods and adventurers were paid handsomely for each hide they brought back.
As they walked, they heard shuffling in the branches. They stopped and looked around and nothing jumped out at them. The two elves slowly moved a couple steps to the left while the Tabaxi held still waiting for any sign of movement.
In a split second, shards of ice rained from the sky in the middle of summer, pinning them to the ground.
A figure walked out of the shadows as if she was purely invisible. Hair, a ratty blonde tied into a ponytail with a bow crafted from ancient wood, and a quiver full of arrows.
“I am Lyria, the champion of Veloria, and you will tell me why you are in these woods.”
She could feel their fear as the shadows dropped off of Lyria like a fog. Just as she was about to put an arrow in all three of them, a divine roar echoed across the glade. Only a few miles away due south.
With a few quick arrows, all three hunters met their end and Lyria sprinted towards the yell. As she reached a gully she knew well, she found a bear squaring off with a girl with dark brown skin about her age. This girl carried a hammer that probably weighed about as much as Lyria did. And this girl was MAD. The gods could not reach this level of anger.
As Lyria surveyed the scene, she saw a sigil on the girl’s arm that ran chills up her spine. This girl was under an enchantment. And if Lyria didn’t break that, that bear was gonna get hurt. Summoning the power of her damn dark passenger, Lyria shifted her form willingly into her weredeer form and rushed in to help.

Cool Things My OC’s Can Do That May Surprise You
Petra Naverrian
She’s a very talented singer and dancer. She’s a performer (artistic or otherwise) and kind of loves being in the spotlight. Her team is very supportive of this (mostly because they’re all gay as hell and love when she’s in a spicy mood.)
Lyria Peregrine
She’s an archer by trade and is a VERY good one. Legend has it that she once pinned three flies to a tree by their wings. At the same time. Without killing any of them.
Emily Cordalith
No one can ever get away with anything around her. It’s gone from impressive to downright scary. Her luck is insane and her perception stat is so high, she literally caught Haley attempting to build a prank before Haley had even thought about it.
Aerin Curridan
Her photographic memory is the best in the team. Yes, even better than Petra’s and Ascella’s. Aerin can name all of the ingredients in any draught, potion, or recipe Lyria has ever made after half-looking at a page for less than a second. Lyria loves this because she is scatterbrained as hell.
Haley
People think Lyria is the only cook in Olvara’s Pocket, but Haley can cook just as well if not better. They can actively pick apart a dish, tell you all of the ingredients, how old the food is, and the flavor profiles of the dish after one bite.
Marasenna
Senna would NEVER say this out loud, but Senna is a fashionista. She likes her tomboy style and if word ever got out she would be furious, but she knows how to make and rock an outfit like nobody’s business. The funny thing is that everyone else knows and asks for advice, but Senna hasn’t picked up on it yet.
Verity Xanderia
Lyria and Verity bond over their love for nature and what’s crazy is that Verity knows exactly what every creature is and where it lives. Lyria thinks it’s cute.
Ascella Ylteryn
No one has ever beaten Ascella at chess. Ever. Haley came close once, but then Ascella got serious. Ascella also knows better than to cheat because there are too many bright minds in the hold. Petra’s still mad about this.
Teyra Fellspark
Teyra was a VERY active child and had a very supportive uncle, so they are a very talented gymnast and parkour junkie. She spends a lot of time in the rafters, out on the walls, and in all of the unique areas of the castle, so he loves to exhaust all of his creative avenues. They also have a surprising green dragon parentage, so Teyra is not only immune to poison and acid, but can identify them based on taste and smell.

Needed a breather from full length stories. Also, kinda blocked on how I wanna write Ascella’s arc. So imma do this instead. Keep in mind: at this point in their stories, they are all teammates, not exactly lovers or partners so for all intents and purposes, all of these people are single. @ebevkisk
How Marasenna feels about her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
Senna and Petra have a respect for each other. They have lived long lives despite still being so young, so they trust each other implicitly. Petra is also the only non-dragon to beat Senna in a straight-up fight, so Senna feels close to her in that regard.
Lyria Peregrine
They have a symbiotic relationship. Senna LOVES food and Lyria loves making food. Lyria is also kinda the group mom, so Senna vents a lot to her about things. Senna also is very good at bringing Lyria out of her shell, so it works out.
Emily Cordalith
An example of opposites attract. Senna is a wild child and Emily is a very centered and focused individual. Somehow, this makes them a very unique pairing that works well together.
Aerin Curridan
Senna admires Aerin’s peaceful and stoic energy. She knows Aerin follows a war patron, but Senna has never met anyone who was literally like a warm cup of chai tea on a snowy snowy evening like Aerin is.
Verity Xanderia
Something unsettles Senna about Verity. Verity carries an aura of confusion and power that Senna does not understand, but it feels very old and very dangerous and as such, Senna keeps her distance.
Haley
Madness incarnate. Senna is Haley’s enabler. Senna encourages so much creativity and chaos out of them that it’s insane what shenanigans they can get up to when they spend too much time together.
Ascella Ylteryn
Surprisingly, these two are very close friends. Ascella finds herself around Senna more often than not. Even if they aren’t talking, they find comfort in each other’s presence.
Teyra Fellspark
If anyone in the hold could give Senna butterflies, its 100% Teyra. These two have the most wholesome relationship. Teyra is the soft spoken and loving softie to Marasenna’s wild instigator and Teyra has an ability to calm Senna down that no one else has mastered. Also, both tend to turn beet red when around each other, but they haven’t figured that out yet.

Part two. Doing one for each character. Plus this helps me iron out how my OCs feel about one another. @ebevkisk
How Emily feels about her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
Best friends. Emily usually is a fairly calm and collected individual. All of that goes away when it’s just her and Petra. She becomes a bit of a snuggle bug when Petra is around. Petra also taught Emily how to conjure a seeing eye familiar, a bat named Olive, so they are uniquely bonded.
Lyria Peregrine
Lyria is usually the mom friend when everyone else is around. Emily and Lyria together? Recipe for disaster. Neither of them can hold their liquor and both are very bubbly drunks. Very fun for everyone involved.
Aerin Curridan
They really don’t talk much. That’s not to say they don’t know each other EXTREMELY well, but Emily can read Aerin’s emotions and Aerin has worked with more than enough people to know how to read Emily’s thoughts and subtle facial expressions. They don’t talk, but they DO say a lot to each other.
Verity Xanderia
The most polarizing friendship in the hold. Emily loves being in the water. It helps her get out of her head for a few minutes. Verity also knows better than to hide things from Emily. Verity’s emotions are on full display for ONLY Emily and they have a weird flavor of trust.
Marasenna
Emily keeps Senna calm. Emily senses so much in Senna that she struggles to keep a lid on her emotions when Senna’s around. It doesn’t mean they aren’t friends, but it does limit Emily’s exposure to Senna.
Haley
Two very different, clashing world perspectives. Haley’s life is logic, science, and analysis. Emily is very much emotion, conjecture, and sympathy. This puts them at odds a lot of the time and makes it hard for them to get along.
Ascella Ylteryn
Death is their bread and butter. These two are a deadly combo. Think Emily Kaldwin and Corvo Attano. Two very focused and intelligent beings that could dismantle governments. The best liars in the business. They also communicate very well and have similar thought patterns, which makes them very good friends.
Teyra Fellspark
Sparring partners. They also are the cool heads of the group, so they often have the most relaxing conversations. They also are the most centered and attentive, so they usually pick up on the most smallest details. Put Aerin with them and there is NO way anybody is getting away with anything.

Part three. This is too fun and it’s giving me some stories to explore. It also helps me know where their relationship is gonna start so that I can build from there. @ebevkisk
How Ascella feels about her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
Ascella sees Petra as a hypocrite. Both hemocraft and necromancy are taboo in Cor Varias and the fact that they both abuse these and Petra continues to dismiss Ascella as beyond help despite needing hers fills her with a deep annoyance that stops them from even considering friendship. Both are unaware how similar they are.
Lyria Peregrine
Lyria is naturally curious (pun intended). Ascella and Lyria are an interesting pairing because they both come from the fringes of society and they are both interested in where the other person came from. Ascella also shows her softer sides to Lyria unintentionally.
Emily Cordalith
The person that Ascella usually finds herself standing next to in meetings. Emily is surrounded by a very unique aura of death that excites her. Ascella also can’t hide anything from Emily and she knows it, so she feels herself relax around her.
Aerin Curridan
Study buddies. Ascella once was reading in the lounge and accidentally speaking out loud and Aerin overheard and offered her opinion. Not only did it help, but Ascella started coming to Aerin when she needed to brainstorm. Aerin thinks it’s sweet.
Verity Xanderia
Nightmare combo in a good way. Verity, being a master of the mind and Ascella, a master of the soul? This spells trouble. These two get along famously and can be surprisingly wholesome despite their grim specialties. Ascella also sees Verity in a very honest light and it’s endearing to Ascella.
Marasenna
Ascella knows Senna’s reputation as well as circumstances. They make for very good friends and Ascella feels like she can be vulnerable around her. Weird because of how much of a chaos gremlin Senna is, but she does a surprisingly good job.
Haley
Evil geniuses. They spend a lot of time together. A lot of it is in a lab and it’s like two kids in a playhouse. Bouncing ideas off of each other and talking about how the world works. If Ascella had a brain twin, it would be Haley.
Teyra Fellspark
Ascella sees Teyra as her silence friend. You ever have those moments where you and a friend just sit in dead quiet and just be in each other’s space? That’s how these to are. Teyra doesn’t seem to mind and even enjoys it to some degree.

The Pocket Queers’ Worst Weaknesses
Petra Naverrian
She’s a perfectionist. No one left behind, no task undone, no trace of evidence. Often, she wears herself out because her brain won’t allow her to do anything halfway. This regularly conflicts with her inability to find motivation.
Lyria Peregrine
The most trusting of the bunch. This can often be a boon, but it functions just as well as a fault as it does a strength. She sees the good in people and, as good as her insight is, she wants more than anything to believe that people aren’t as bad as they act.
Emily Cordalith
She can be a very cold individual. Her ability to sense emotion as well as her trauma earlier in life made it hard to really feel much of anything, so it’s hard for her to open up about what she’s feeling. Often, it comes off as a lack of care or apathy.
Aerin Curridan
Introverted to a fault. Kind of a lone wolf to some degree and has a little bit of social anxiety thrown in there, so interacting with people is kinda hard.
Haley
Does not like asking for or accepting help. The rest of their crew can attest. They are a very independent creature and doesn’t like people touching their projects or problems, so they get bogged down by their own struggles frequently.
Marasenna
Bullheaded and reckless. She may be a dragon, but her stubbornness and reckless behavior can really cause rifts between her and her teammates as well as put her in mortal danger.
Verity Xanderia
She doesn’t think much of herself. She can be fairly self-deprecating and sees herself as more of a tool other people can use as opposed to a person with hopes and dreams. Everyone else tries to help, but it’s a long process.
Ascella Ylteryn
HUBRIS. One of the few in the hold that actually struggles with this. Her ego is hard to work around and she holds a very high opinion of herself. However, this also puts her at odds with a lot of people and makes it very hard to get along with people.
Teyra Fellspark
A creature that can’t say no. It’s so hard for them to not help people as much as they can. It becomes a severe burden the more they say yes and it’s hard for them to stand up to themselves.

Little bit of an anxiety kind of a day, so hopefully this can help calm me down a little. @ebevkisk
What Aerin thinks of her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
The most siblingesque relationship here. Aerin thinks of Petra as a younger sister (despite being younger than her). She’s very protective and will often feel her protective instinct kick in when she’s being threatened.
Lyria Peregrine
Schoolgirl crush. Aerin rarely gets nervous, but Lyria has something about her that makes her all anxious and bashful. Aerin also wishes she knew how to cook, so Lyria gives her lessons.
Emily Cordalith
Emily makes Aerin nervous, but for the opposite reason. Aerin knows the kind of effect Multanith had on her and also knows that Emily can sense emotions. It’s less a dislike and more of a “I really don’t want this getting out until I can learn to control it” type of deal, so it takes all of Aerin’s charisma to hold it together in front of Emily.
Verity Xanderia
Gossip partners. Aerin can’t help it. Verity is really good at dishing and reading people like Aerin, so it only stands to reason that tea is indeed spilt when these two are together. Nothing mean (usually) but they definitely have a close bond because of it.
Marasenna
Aerin is protective of Petra and knows that Marasenna is a force of nature. She also knows that Senna can have a bit of a temper especially when she doesn’t like what she’s told to do. Aerin also knows what happened to Senna and, if Senna is anything like her, both of them are in deep trouble if they go off at the same time.
Haley
These two butt heads. A lot. Which is funny for a couple reasons. Haley somehow brings out the little bit of non-zen energy that runs counter to everything everyone knows about Aerin and you’d think they’d get along with how intelligent they both are. Haley is the only one that’s ever gotten Aerin to raise her voice. They don’t know it, but it’s because they are practically the opposite of each other.
Ascella Ylteryn
Aerin likes how Ascella helps her feel included. Aerin is a Paladin/Barbarian, so it’s rare when someone comes to her for help with magic, but Aerin knows more than enough about magic and strategy to help Ascella jog more ideas loose and it makes her feel special.
Teyra Fellspark
The dynamic duo. Senna and Teyra get along because they complement each other. Aerin and Teyra get along because they literally clicked day one. Aerin and Teyra spend a lot of time together and have become good drinking buddies.

18+ Blog!!!
(I block people for not having an age in their bio! Doesn’t have to be your exact age, but I need at least an honest indication you’re not a minor)
My array of characters is slowly growing, but I love them dearly. I write about them a lot (and post them on @petra-naverrians-diary), but I’m always ready to answer questions and do asks about them, so please do so I can practice my writing them and explore more of their development.
Character List:
-Petra Naverrian (she/they): A 529-year-old transfem bisexual blood cleric nephalem who doesn’t look a day over 25. She dabbles in magic and fighting while navigating the life she never had as she rids the world of despots and people who seek to destroy free will.
-Lyria Peregrine (she/her): A 26-year-old lesbian Druid Huntress. She was scratched as a teenager and became a werestag. She became a disciple of Veloria, goddess of nature and spiders, and has been a protector of the wilds ever since.
-Emily Cordalith (she/they): A 27-year-old blind demisexual monk from the far away realm of Hell’s Kitchen, New York, hunting a tyrant of the Abyss who stole her sight and turned her student. She has a talent for not only sensing but seeing strong emotions through colors that appear on the darkness that is her sight.
-Aerin Curridan (she/her): A 28-year-old asexual daughter of a War Deity who set out to be the world’s protector. Now, she searches for answers after being enchanted with an ancient madness by one of the world’s greatest villains.
-Verity Xanderia (she/her): A deep sea mermaid pansexual sorcerer with powers to distort the mind and perception of those she interacts with. 28 and a vicious manipulator, she fell prey to a lonely cleric who gave her what she wasn’t prepared for: love, attention, and affection.
-Haley the Tiefling (they/them): A non-binary sapiosexual artificer-gunslinger who was betrayed by their hometown’s crime syndicate. They dabble in enchantment, but mostly rely on their own skills and Pegs, their automaton.
-Marasenna, the Purveyor of Nightmares (she/her): An adult lesbian dragon fairly early in her lifespan. 150 years young, but strikes a deep fear into the hearts of her enemies. She hunts, with the help of her best friend (and crush), Teyra, Paraios, the Elder Brain Dragon, who banished her mothers and uncle from the face of her home plane.
-Ascella Ylteryn (they/she): An abrosexual necromancer from the astral plane wanted on several counts of insurrection, assassination of political leaders, resisting arrest, and raising the dead for malicious purpose. Ascella wants nothing more than to perfect her craft and rid the world of those that seek to take advantage of the less-than-lucky.
-Teyra Fellspark (any pronouns): Marasenna’s bisexual best friend and head of the Dissident Veil, leaders of the Draconic population. An intimidating gold dragon and a natural born leader, Teyra leads searches for the betrayer that stole her father from her while struggling with her feelings for Marasenna.

In case the very few people that care about the Sword Baes Universe, I figured I’d kinda explain how their polycule is organized at the moment. This is liable to change if @queencharliesshadow aka @sapphic-alcina-dimitrescu adds anything or wants Némain to formally date and/or marry them, but this is how it’s organized as far as relationships go.
Married:
Petra and Lyria
Petra and Némain
Petra and Alcina
Lyria and Némain
Lyria and Alcina
Dating:
Petra and Emily
Petra and Verity
Verity and Emily (not canon yet)
Lyria and Aerin (not canon yet)
If Mébh has anything to add here that I’m missing, we’ll use this as a thread most likely to flesh out all of the ties here.
