btw cause I think some people still need to hear this, but the rose colored glasses coming off and the ‘revision’ to the meanings of her songs about joe was always gonna happen. with travis around or not. so saying she should focus on her new relationship is not the dunk you were thinking it is. like I keep saying it but she wrote him into her world, she included him in the world she wrote music in, and when she needed to, she wrote him out. why would he get to stay when he hasn’t earned that anymore? she would have kept him in, she even would have left the bad stuff in a box, but he didn’t seem like he wanted that part of her life. please can we all just realize that this is just such a normal reaction and end to a relationship and Taylor doesn’t need to ‘take the high road’ or whatever just because she’s in a new relationship. the reckoning of what happened was always going to be closing the chapter of the story she wrote for them. she’s releasing it whether you’re ready to reckon with her or not.

"I’m going to assume someone else already commented on this and I missed it but I find it FASCINATING that Harry, in Love Of My Life says “maybe you don’t know what’s lost til you find it” considering Louis, in Lucky Again, says “I’m a hard man to find, but you figured it out and I love you for that.” 🙃"
but isn't love of my life about England? and if it is about Louis then it's a break up song lol.
Is it?
I mean, sure, on paper. He says “you were the love of my life” so it makes sense.
I have thought now for a long time that they write certain things to each other and about each other inside of songs that are “about” other things. Look at Little Freak. The chorus of that song is about Louis, end of discussion, in my opinion. But is the whole song? No. I don’t think so.
“Too Young” is another good example. I don’t think they’ve ever really broken up for like an extended period of time? Like a legitimate end of their relationship. I just don’t know when that would have happened? And maybe it did, I don’t know, but what I do know is that some of their “break up songs” (especially Harry’s) have these interesting little quirks that make me think they’re still about each other.

TBM’s weakest album for me musically is Superstition (not bad just an experiment that didn’t quite work), their weakest album thematically is Fascination (closest thing to a theme is a generic love story from initial enchantment to disillusion), their weakest album overall is Under Your Spell (second-weakest in both categories). It’ll be interesting to see if the next album can compete with Diamonds for biggest comeback
