Rearranging the Violent Things Track Listing
So Violent Things actually has two different tracklists: the one on Bandcamp, and the one that appears on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. However, I'm not satisfied with either of them, so here we go (thanks @clusterhugmp3 for partially inspiring me to do this after seeing your Razzmatazz track rearrangement)
My take on Violent Things' track order is as follows:
Better Than Me
Love At First Sight
Second Boys Will Be First Choice
Le Velo Pour Deux
If You Like It Or Not
Small Cuts
All Of The Drugs
Bike Ride
Visitation Of The Ghost
I Will, Tonight
The Nerve
Goodnight Socialite
Boring
Better Than Me - It's a banger. It's a little louder, it's fun, it sticks in your head and takes you right into the album without hitting you too hard right off the bat with the seriousness of some of it. The slightly extended instrumentals also help set up a good expectation for the sound of the record. It's just a great first impression, and when I send my friends an introductory song for them to try listening to The Brobecks it's usually this one
Love At First Sight - This had to be the second or third song at the very least, in my opinion. It's a standout on the album in terms of both its acoustic sound and lighter themes, and the record title itself is taken from it. It deserves this place. One of my goals for this track listing was also to somewhat balance the faster/quieter and lighter/darker songs, so this feels like a strong followup
Second Boys Will Be First Choice - Picking up the pace again after First Sight with a quicker song, and I think it ties well into the themes of both prior songs. Don't have as much to say about this one, except that I also think it aids in establishing the 'voice' of the album too seeing as its lyrics are in a dramatic narrative style. Also links back to later songs in a similar line to come
Le Velo Pour Deux + If You Like It Or Not - Two songs that I think are well-paired together in lyrics and sound, and here kind of round out the first 'act' of the album (I'm always thinking of things in terms of narrative structure. Sorry). If You Like It Or Not in particular feels like a good transition sonically to the next third of the album
Small Cuts, All Of The Drugs, and Bike Ride - The first third of the album contained relatively lighter or positive relationship-based songs, but here we start seeing some of the darker tracks on Violent Things. Small Cuts is a strong introduction, while All Of The Drugs and Bike Ride help expand on these new themes while offering variety in sound and pace. I kept the latter two together to preserve the sound transition between the two tracks, which you can find on the original Bandcamp listing of Violent Things
Visitation Of The Ghost - The conclusion to the middle of the album with a very standout, dramatic song. I also wanted to give it some distance from tracks like Better Than Me, Love At First Sight, Second Boys, and Goodnight Socialite, as all five in my head are the songs which would be singles if Violent Things had been an album structured/released that way. As it is here I think it's in a memorable place and once again is a good track to bridge the second and third acts
I Will, Tonight + The Nerve - The last section of Violent Things is a heavy one. I Will, Tonight serves as the final thematic and sonic breather before the rest of the album goes even harder, though it keeps that thread of darkness so as not to break the established pattern from the second act. The Nerve begins to ramp up the intensity carried over from Visitation. It's a relationship-centric song which helps connect the first third of Violent Things to this one, but the emotion is high and an excellent buildup to the last two songs
Goodnight Socialite - This song to me has always been the narrative finale of Violent Things, regardless of where it was placed in prior track listings. It drives home the darkness many of the other songs have had, and continues and uses the spite and anger touched upon in prior tracks. It also parallels the more directly narrative lyrics of Second Boys toward the beginning, sewing the album's story together nicely. This is just such a dramatic flourish of a song and ensures Violent Things doesn't fizzle out toward the end but rather goes out with a bang
Boring - Both existing track listings leave Boring as the final song, and I agree with this choice. It starts out as a more stripped down track, which marks a moment to process the intensity of Goodnight Socialite, but as the song goes on it builds and builds until the sound and emotion is crushing, larger-than-life the way some other songs before have been. It's not only a potential sequel to the pov character of Goodnight Socialite, but I also think it's fascinating as in my opinion it's the most universally relatable song on all of Violent Things. That stronger connection to world of the listener is really a nice bookend to leave off with. Through the progression of the outro especially, reality bleeds back into the fiction, and the song becomes a sendoff.
I hope this all made sense, and that you enjoyed reading!

haiii hi 🧑‍🎨 🎥 ⏳
🧑‍🎨 A musical artist where you drop everything to hear their latest work: as soon as nothing but thieves drops another album i will be ALL OVER THAT SHIT.
🎥 A song that gives you a really specific mental image: OH BOY!!!!!!!!! I have a whole playlist of these (ill share if ur interested though it wont make much sense unless i explain each one) but here are 3 of them cause i couldnt decide.
small cuts by the brobecks: prudents animatic i will probably never make. i bet you can picture it too :)
que onda guero by beck: because of the lyrics and the abundant sampling and other sound effects its really easy to imagine im there in the city he's describing
sirens by pearl jam: this feels like it belongs in the climactic scene of a movie. as it escalates into the chorus i imagine theres a guy running through a bunch of rain screaming and yelling until he is finally reunited with his lover or his family or his little buddy or whoever it is and they embrace in the rain and its super dramatic and triumphant and everyone is crying. or something.
⏳ A song you love that was released before you were born: any tmbg song from any album before mink car. ok fine thats a copout answer how about she's an angel thats a good one. or new york city

13, 66, and 72? C:
13: Welcome Home // HELLYEAH it feels like cheating to pick the chorus but i just think it's neat "The smell of rain in the sky The tears are gone, the well is dry Why is my feeling of loss like a welcome home?" 66: Enjoy Your Slay // Ice Nine Kills alsjshflgl okay but ALL the lyrics in this one are so good though, it's about the shining! and it's got puns! "Welcome to your last resort don't overlook the past If you need help finding piece of mind don't hesitate to axe" 72: Small Cuts // The Brobecks this song slaps but it doesn't actually have that many lyrics so uh "We all want attention A beautiful kiss and a sin to confess"

Can we all just take a moment to admire the masterpiece that is Violent Things?
Like???
All the songs are so good????
so well written???
the lyrics are fcking amazing???
so underrated???
I just love the like dark cabaret-kinda feel to some of the songs, and how the lyrics of each song tells a different story???
My personal fave from Violent Things is Small Cuts. Reblog with yours!
I know I’m a huge Ryan Ross stannie, but I’m also a sucker for Dallon Weekes. So, if you haven’t listened to the Brobecks before, please do.

Spring Playlist 2018
Harry Styles' daily dose of 'Medicine', Panic! At The Disco's every cloud having a 'Silver Lining' and Palaye Royal's an apple a day keeps the 'Mr. Doctor Man' away. Spring has mildly sprung, commencing an new era for Mr Malik with Zayn zoning himself in an epoch separate to his 'Mind Of Mine' moments and One Direction history, signalling the start of something new with the 'Pillowtalk' pioneer posting a powerful, greedy, loyalty yet vengeance film style video ending with a date induced cliffhanger beginning on 04.12.18. With spring shaping up to be a season of sensations coming from Aussie ensemble 5 Seconds of Summer's 'Want You Back' and Brit band Arctic Monkeys 'Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino', as well as some individually curated playlists showcasing a plethora of stellar songs evoked from new releases, attended gigs or simply derived from nostalgic value.
Tumblr media
‘Medicine’ – Harry Styles
Styles is feeling super love sick and has therefore been prescribed with a medical medium of music to cure his aggressively hedonistic wants, needs and requirements. Banished in black from his fingers to his toes as Styles shimmered under the stage in Switzerland, a delightful double debut of non-studio songs shone from Harry's low tones yet fitful range as the 'Harry Styles' self titled record rejects 'Anna' and 'Medicine' lavishly launched. Whilst 'Anna' is a sample of moderately melodious riffs compared to the rough and ready specimen of 'Medicine' which explores Styles' sensual side, evoking lyrical content in its wake of a "Tingle running through my bones/The boys and girls are in/I mess around with him/And I'm okay with it" that left fans in a frenzy. With these words demonstrating limitless lyrics and a there's no holding the Styles back approach to his solo songwriting style.
Tumblr media
‘Mr. Doctor Man’ – Palaye Royale
Headlining the front cover of Alternative Press magazine, and Payale Royal’s decade long exersion has made them music magnates. From Palaye moulding their personified personalities into true artistic value with meticulously designed merchandise aligning with the bands vivid image and independent appearance, producing products such as the popular Palette Royale as well as their distinct art rock repertoire introducing the triple collective's commencing 2012 single 'Morning Light' to their rated 2015 record 'Boom Boom Room'. 'Mr. Doctor Man' the leading hit that hoisted the Sumerian signed entity into song success upon its release in Spring 16, reveals deathly lyrics, riveting instrumentals and a voice of indisputable distressful tones by potato enthusiast Remington Leith that carries the bands indie glam sound and avant-garde style onto the imminent 'Boom Boom Room' (Side B) anticipated for emancipation next month.
Tumblr media
'Silver Lining' - Panic! At The Disco
Struck by a slither of a silver lining and after a rocky road, Panic! At The Disco are finally coming up cherries on top. Revamping Urie's one man band backing with touring musician members Kenneth Harris on the guitar and Dan Pawlovich on the drums, the band hit the big time bagging the instrumentally reputable Nicole Row to fill in the gaping gap of a bassist with upmost pleasantness. Releasing 'Silver Lining' as a single alongside its action packed attached 'Say Amen (Saturday Night' nostalgic religious number and prequel and sequel video its big, bold, brass, marching band style and feel good substance provide a sense of 'Nine In The Afternoon' instrumentals meets 'Death Of A Bachelor' artistic influences to produce a friendship of Beyoncé name dropping, 70's swear word inspired song vocabulary and vocalising his step up as a vocalist, with Brendon Urie's skilful singing by using the analogy of cutting his teeth to end up making a killing with the Panic! At The Disco spiel.
Tumblr media
‘Church’ – Fall Out Boy
Whilst not every diehard fan of Fall Out Boy was confessing their love for 'Church', the odd regeneration of rooters were on their knee's worshiping the music work. Despite 'M A N I A' feeling like we were all just sitting in the waiting room for it's delayed Winters date of release, the forth visual instalment to come out of the record brought Montague and Capulet mannered imagery, contexts correlating to religious relations and themes of Gospel sounds, digged up and derived from Island Record's export 'This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race' made a genre resurgence in a current rendition. A choir of voices to vocalise a heavily orotund orientated chorus, overlapping 'Soul Punk' man Stumps prominent singing delivery alongside a verse of tuneful bass hooks and the chiming of brash bells visually represented a kirk's atmosphere and importantly a place of devotion.
Tumblr media
‘Nobody Likes The Opening Band’ – I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME
Local community talent shows, circa mid-1983 and uncovered tapes pre 20th century. I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME have built a band brand that brandishes a cleaver curated era of evoking 80's sounds, from the duo's supposed failed attempt at success in synth-pop scenes and art-pop areas during the decade of the Pet Shop Boys. with the ensembles efforts being brushed off and brought to life by the internets influence that the first world is welcoming warmingly being backed by a following of fans in their tens of thousands. Marketed as terminated ex Panic! At The Disco's touring bassist Dallon Weekes once and future project pre and post The Brobecks, with Weekes and Seaman's super small selection of songs from the a-ha affiliated 'Take On Me' attributes in 'Modern Day Cain', grandiloquent sounds of 'Choke' and the candidly newfangled 'Nobody Likes The Opening Band'. Singing of the struggles of being a support act at a show, Dallon's deliberately dull tones depict a sensible tale of negative contexts "Come and see the opening band/Now that you've got your tickets and beverages in hand/They look so tired/Sound uninspired/Guitars are secondhand" prevailing with a positive conundrum "But if you lend an ear and give them just one little chance/You may just like the opening band" makes for a song of sincerity and a soul spilling story.
Tumblr media
'Nomad' - In Loving Memory
Death and doom metal meets Panic! At The Disco's artwork of rainbow coloured chemicals from 'Too Weird To Live Too Rare To Die'. 'Introspective' track 'Nomad' is a nostalgic brining together of instrumental and vocal pickings from Bring Me The Horizon's 2008 'Chelsea Smile' and Pierce The Veil's 2012 'King for a Day' under In Loving Memory's own umbrella. 2 EP's in and the New York City capacity have established experimental styles, showcased through a stretch of 'Vans Warped Tour' stints following up a headlining tour titled 'Black Sheep Never Sleep'. Yet song 'Normad' is a backed by a band of solid shredding guitars and wholesome words of warm cordial lyrics, heavily highlighted by the voracious voice of Naveed Stone's fearless tones.

IDKHBTFM is more than a band to Dallon (a conspiracy theory)
This is a more comprehensible format of the theory I posted a few days ago. It's a bit of an odd theory but it's my personal favorite. (!!! I didn't come up with this; @/wethervanes on Twitter did) Let's do this. •Okay. So, we all know Dallon's been doing some things outside of Panic!, right? (idkhbtfm) That's what this theory is about, so buckle up bc it's wild. Also, forgive me for randomly jumping around in this. I usually lose points on my essays for subpar topic organization. •So, it's kind of odd that Dallon always denies that he went to Emo Nite, and even denies IDK's existence. (ex: "that's not me", "i don't know what you're talking about", etc. you've seen the screenshots.) •Relevant sidenote: Both Dallon and Breezy have tweeted about IDK as far back as 2009. A lot of artists plan out/tease "eras" ahead of time, like how Halsey was posting about HFK in 2015, but it was released this year. •Different, but still relevant, sidenote: Dallon has said that after the Brobecks "plateaued", Panic! was the last thing he'd pursue in music, because he wasn't going as far as he (deserved) needed to and it was hurting him & his family. This was also around 2009. (gasp !!!) •This is the part where the two sidenotes become something of a keynote (bigger gasp !!!) : if he had been planning IDK since 2009, he probably planned on pursuing it anyway, right? So, why is this all happening now? Pun fully intended, idk, but there are some ideas. (!!!) •Y'all know Dallon's being really weird when it comes to IDK, and he's denying everything that has anything to do with it. The show on the 12th, Emo Nite/what he wore at Emo Nite, new music, etc. •Obviously, he knows. It's his own damn project. He can't be clueless as to what's going on. So, why does he act like it's not him? Aunty Beth's got an answer for you !!! •Maybe, IDK is just something he doesn't wanna acknowledge. And by IDK, I don't mean the band (biggest gasp !!!) (fr follow me here) because Breezy has tweeted about IDK, so she knows about it (although even if she hadn't tweeted about it she's probably know bc like,,, that's her husband but anyway). And Ryan Seaman obviously knows about it, because he's in IDK, and had "I don't know how, but they found me" as his bio on Instagram & Twitter and stuff like that. •There's allegedly an empty Soundcloud under IDK's name, which, obviously, would be used for music. If it's up now, that means there's probably something coming soon. (Also there's that video Dallon posted but that wasn't a thing at the time this theory was created so it's irrelevant to this) •There's also the small pieces of IDK songs we've heard. There's a particular chunk that has people a little confused. •"Stop, drop, drag me into place/Block (lock? idrk man) your fire escapes/I'll break your fucking face" -That's pretty violent, obviously. •So, what if IDK isn't a band? What if it's a character, a manifestation off all of the violent things Dallon thinks about ?(pun intended part 2) •A lot of artists have personas/characters onstage and in their music. Melanie Martinez has Crybaby, Twenty One Pilots have [had (rip)] Blurryface, Beyoncé has Sasha Fierce (had? is she still doing Sasha Fierce?) etc. •So, what if that's what IDK is? •We know that Dallon usually only swears (irrelevant sidenote: do y'all say curses or swears?) when he's angry. In songs, sure, he's sworn a few times, but usually he's a very proper, generally inoffensive guy. •He's had violent lyrics before (Goodnight Socialite, Small Cuts, etc. The man has an album called "Violent Things".) •So basically, what if IDK is a character he uses to manifest all the bad shit he feels? Almost like a coping method for the violent, angry feelings most people hide? •That's why he "forgets" everything IDK does, and sweeps them under the rug. We all try to forget when we say or do something uncharacteristic of ourselves,!right? •So, maybe IDK is the part of Dallon that no one "gets", because it's so complex and unlike himself. The side of him that's angry and improper, unlike the chill, collected guy he generally is. •IDK is his bad thoughts, the regrettable things he's done, said, thought, etc. It's his outlet for the negative things he feels. It's an alter ego, for lack of a better term, that's been growing for years, and he chooses to manifest it in music, because he can't just do the shit he's singing about. He wants to be blocking fire escapes and breaking faces. That's Not Good™. •Therefore, Dallon hides IDK as much as possible. He denies all of the pictures and videos because he doesn't want people to know. He doesn't want to be Exposed. So, when Dallon's denying the silver jacket, he knows about it, he just doesn't want us to. ((again: this isn't my original theory !! it's the brainchild of actual genius, @/wethervanes on Twitter !!!))

Folie A Deux, I Brought You My Bullets, and Danger Days for the band ask thing? ^^
Ahhh, oh my gosh, thank you!
Folie A Deux: favorite lyric/s?
Ah, shit, that one’s hard. Uhm, okay, uh…
“I’m just the man on the balcony singing, ‘no one will ever remember me’” —From Now On We’re Enemies by Fall Out Boy
“They all think I know you, It’s so hard to motivate me to devote a single inch of me to something I can’t see.” —Be Concerned by Twenty One Pilots (twenty one pilots, twenty øne pilots, whatever, I like grammar, kinda)
“I want to drive away, in the night, headlights call my name, I’ll never be, be what you see inside. You say I’m not alone, but I am petrified.” —Fake You Out by Twenty One Pilots
“The anesthetic never set in and I’m wondering where the apathy and urgency is that I thought I phoned in.” —Camisado by Panic! At The Disco (forever my favorite P!ATD song)
“I don’t believe my ears and I’m scared of my own head” —Be Concerned by Twenty One Pilots, again
“I got your love letters, corrected the grammar and sent them back. It’s true romance is dead, I shot it in the chest then in the head.” —The Music or The Misery by Fall Out Boy (I’m, like, a major romanticist but I fucking love this line)
“(They say!) "We’re never leaving this place alive" But if you sing these words, we’ll never die. Get off the ledge and drop the knife, not a victim of a victim’s life because this ain’t a room full of suicides! We’re believers, I believe tonight.” —Save Yourself I’ll Hold Them Back by My Chemical Romance
“And the wrists of my mind have the bleeding lines that remind me of all the times I have committed dirty dirty crimes that are perfectly form-fitted to what I’ve done and what I’m doing I’m brewing and losing and spewing infusing and believe me that’s what all the kids are doing what kids are doing are killing themselves they feel they have no control of their prisoner’s cell.” —Fake You Out by Twenty One Pilots
“I hate my weaknesses, they make me who I am” —Joyriding by Frnkiero andthe Cellabration (post mcr, not necessarily emo quartet, whatever, bite me)
“It doesn’t take much to cover up small cuts hid’ ‘neath the bandages under her sleeve.” —Small Cuts by the Brobecks
“I spend most of my days and most of my nights chasing tomorrow” —Tragician by Frnkiero andthe Cellabration
Okay, I think I’ll stop at 11, yeah? Sorry, I legit spent like half an hour tryina pick different lyrics, there’s just so many I love! I tried to pick at least one from each Emo Quartet band, and then like the Brobecks and FIATP/C. I would’ve been too many lyrics if I tried to do, like, Patrick Stump and Gerard Way and Ray Toro and Electric Century so I just gave up. Phew, anyways, sorry, I bet you were expecting, like, one or two lyrics, I’m sorry.
I Brought You My Bullets: favorite band meme?
I’m not much into memes, uhm, I dunno, prolly “thanks Pete.”
Danger Days: favorite album aesthetic?
Damn, I was gonna say Revenge but then I was like nah, and then I was gonna go TBP but then I was also like nah… hmmmm…. Alright, yeah, either Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge or Mania.
Okay, phew, sorry for the long answer I got very carried away. Anyways, thank you love for the ask, I’m forever grateful; I hope you have a nice day, and thanks again!
