PEETA'S SKETCHBOOK, 1/? // part 2

— after being discharged from therapy in the capitol, peeta was advised to keep a journal or sketchbook of sorts to write his thoughts and experiences down.

not really knowing what to do at first, he decides to draw people and things that he sees outside his home in the victor's village; his mentor, haymitch, and his... friend, katniss, who are his neighbours.

I think that Sabo’s suit would actually have a different base form (maybe from an earlier gen) so that it could accommodate his external spine support better

Also gives another reason for Marco to be in the pit, Sabo’s modified suit makes him practically immobile in the turning department so his pilot rig has a solid x axis rotation, but Ace’s body wouldn’t be able to handle the pure amount of torque the actual machinery can make while turning, so a third body needs to be there to halt the rotation without muscle strain or injury

All jaeger pilots have the external spine rig bc it plugs into the actual pilot frame/harness in the jaeger cockpit

But Sabo’s is like reinforced, a horrific, heavy clunky looking thing that weighs an actual ton because its the only thing that works for him

Marco watching in appalled fascination as Sabos fixed with it prior to their first drift like shit.

And Sabo glares at him like i dont want your pity dude, it’s just something I’ve gotta live with, docs orders n shit. If i ever wanna get back in a damn jaeger this is how its done

Basically Marco’s the heavy lifter, it’s just smarter to let Ace and Sabo control the arms and Marco controls the legs, Sabo’s dragon claw form is the best chance they’ve got against kaijus (to fight monsters you need one yourself and Sabos fight prowress is the closest to the concept of a berserker) so it makes sense to give him the dominant arm of the jaeger and have his husband back him up, he does know how the formation works after all

Marco’s there to support them mostly, but he’s not third wheeling, his presence is very important and grounding for these two, Shatterdome commander Newgate really didn’t want Ace and Sabo to go out there alone in a jaeger Sabo technically doesn’t know how to pilot (marco and aces is a Mark IV, the one sabo was ripped out of was a Mark III)

And then Vegapunk reworks the Mark IV into a V Model to accomodate a third pilot
