After killing a whole afternoon bouncing around arcade games, Reggie's certain he's won enough tickets to claim a stuffed Corgi, which reminded him of the one his grandmother used to have back in Wales when he had been growing up.

( Both his grandmother and the dog had been called Doris, which made for a number of mix-ups. )

He was about to request it from the girl behind the prize counter when he realises exactly which girl it was, causing him to pause in the way he always did when he encountered something he deemed awkward.

"Ah, Mac, hey. Didn't know you worked here."

He knew she had moved back, he had no choice but to know that with how often Simon had reminded him of that fact on WhatsApp since Reggie himself had re-located home to Aurora Bay for the foreseeable.

Lucy shrugs, "I had a lot of bullies at the time, so I tried to avoid tight indoor spaces where they'd likely be." She whether that might of been too much information and Mac was only trying to make a joke out of Lucy's aversion to prom as a kid. "Adults are just tall kids sometimes." She reasons, "Just because they grew some facial hair and joke grown up jobs, doesn't mean they grew up."

"Was there some weird online trend that I missed where going to prom stopped being cool there for a minute?" Mac questions out loud as she adjusts the straps on her dress that had gotten jostled from dancing.

"God, yeah, the ability to consume alcohol makes it so much more fun. And there's a lot of people here that haven't completely grown out of their dumb teenager phases."

A brief reprieve from the condolences, Tabitha makes her way over to Mac who had been graciously occupying Theo alongside Lucky, who had taken her outside for a run around. Restlessly, her hands long for something to do.

"I don't really know what I'm meant to be doing now," Tabitha admits in a rare moment of vulnerability. It seems to be the day for it. "I feel like I want to ask people if they're having a good time, and then I remember it's a funeral."

"that... sounds like a mess, but i'm curious to see how it goes."

"Yeah, no worries -- if I'm lucky I'll stop getting carded by the time I'm forty-five," she joked, reaching into her cross-body bag and fishing out her ID from her wallet that was bulked to the seams with receipts and baggage claim tags, sliding it across the counter.

"I had a guy in New York once who didn't believe I was old enough to drink until I showed him my passport. And even then, I don't think he completely believed me."

"It's kind of a made up drink, I think. It's Jack Daniels, Diet Coke, and honey. It sounds weird but it drinks dangerously easy. But if you don't have honey laying around I'll take whatever you're best at making. I'm not really picky, just need to steel my nerves a little, you know?"

"Thank god Lucky took Theo on the Ferris Wheel," Tabitha said looking up at the metal monstrosity that now housed two of her most loved people. Her daughter was about to crack it before her dad heroically took one for the team, leaving Mac and Tabitha safely on the ground. "I don't know how people can do heights like that. Gives me the bubble guts just looking at it."
