I removed the kext and pkg files for the FTDI drivers and deleted them completely, still when I open the System Report I still see the FTDI USB Serial Driver entry. Now even after doing all this when I connect my Arduino Uno to my Mac via the USB it does not get detected. So I removed the FTDI drivers from my Mac so it will use Apple's drivers. He suggested we remove the FTDI drivers and rely on Apple's drivers. Then I came across this post: where the user is having this same problem with MacOS Sierra.

Contrairement aux studios de ciné et autres Netflix, ils ne jouent pas sur le pathos pop des années VHS, Macintosh, Windows 95 mais en extraient l’essence pour nous noyer dans les sensations que nous procuraient ces univers digitaux. Je distingue le vaporwave du mouvement house lo fi dont des chaînes comme Moskalus ou Slav se font le relai depuis deux ans, mais ils ont en  commun un contenu viral et addictif dans le respect de la plus pure tradition de l’Internet.

Định mệnh thăng trầm giữa Apple và Microsoft: Bất chấp hận thù vì bị đâm lén sau lưng, lòng cao thượng đã chiến thắng tất cả

Chuyện chưa kể về chuỗi biến cố êm đềm rồi căng thẳng đến nghẹt thở một thời giữa Apple và Microsoft, nhưng cuối cùng tất cả đã được giải quyết êm thấm nhờ lòng vị tha, cao thượng giữa hai nhà lãnh đạo vĩ đại của thế kỷ.

Bill Gates và Steve Jobs được biết đến như một cặp bài trùng lãnh đạo tài ba, xuất chúng bậc nhất trong lịch sử công nghệ thế giới dù không cùng chiến tuyến: Một người khiến cả hành tinh cuốn hút vì phần mềm của mình, người còn lại thì cuốn hút toàn bộ người dùng bởi các thế hệ thiết bị phần cứng. Thế nhưng, ngoài việc biết sơ qua về thành tích bề nổi giữa hai người và mối quan hệ khá hòa bình giữa Apple và Microsoft hiện nay, hiếm có ai hiểu rõ được những thăng trầm đáng nhớ về một thời “đâm nhau sau lưng” của hai ông lớn công nghệ này.

Câu chuyện tình bạn giữa Bill Gates và Steve Jobs chớm nở từ những năm cuối thập niên 1970, khi Microsoft còn chưa có bất kỳ dấu ấn nào trong làng công nghệ thiết bị phần cứng, chỉ chuyên viết code, lập trình phần mềm cho các đối tác. Lúc đó, sợi dây tương quan giữa hai doanh nghiệp khởi đầu khi Microsoft nhận về một hợp đồng béo bở: Sản xuất phần mềm cho chiếc máy tính Apple II của nhà “Táo khuyết”.

Sau Apple II, Steve Jobs dần triển khai dự án thiết kế thế hệ máy tính Macintosh vào những năm 1980, tiếp tục đề xuất và tin tưởng giao phó cho Microsoft nhiệm vụ làm ra một phiên bản lập trình theo ngôn ngữ BASIC biến thể mới, đi kèm một vài phần mềm soạn thảo, lập bảng đồ thị, trình chiếu thuyết trình. Nói mồm thôi chưa đủ, Steve Jobs còn cất công lặn lội từ California đến tận trụ sở Microsoft ở Washington để gặp trực tiếp sếp lớn Gates, tự mình phát biểu về một viễn cảnh đầy mơ ước trong tương lai sẽ được tạo nên bởi thành công của chiếc Macintosh sắp tới: Một chiếc máy tính cá nhân cho mọi người mọi nhà, với giao diện tương tác đồ họa dễ dàng, thân thiện. Đây chính là tiền đề cho nền tảng của những bộ chương trình Word, Excel, PowerPoint sau này.

Về phần Gates, ông cũng rất nghiêm túc trong thương vụ hợp tác to lớn của Macintosh, thường xuyên đi đi về về giữa cả hai trụ sở doanh nghiệp để đến nghe những báo cáo, định hướng cho hệ thống thiết kế dành riêng cho Macintosh. Tưởng ấn tượng và hoành tráng, thế nhưng nhận định của ông thì khác hẳn: “Tôi nhớ lần đầu đến Apple ở Cupertino, Steve đang giới thiệu một ứng dụng có phần đơn điệu, gần như chỉ là vài vật thể nảy tưng tưng ẩn hiện trên màn hình giao diện chính. Thậm chí đó còn là ứng dụng duy nhất chạy được lúc đó.” 

Tệ hơn, thái độ của Steve Jobs cũng có phần khiến Gates phật ý. “Thật bối rối cho tôi khi chẳng biết phản ứng ra sao, vì anh ấy cứ luôn miệng nói rằng Apple đang gánh vác một trọng trách cực lớn, Microsoft chỉ là phụ thôi. Có lẽ anh ấy đang hơi nhập tâm quá đà vào viễn cảnh trong đầu, với quan điểm rằng mình là trung tâm, không cần ai khác nhưng sẽ sẵn lòng chia sẻ gánh nặng nếu ai đó quan tâm.”

Có lẽ một điều khiến Steve Jobs cảm thấy hưng phấn quá độ như vậy, còn Bill Gates thì vẫn kiên trì hợp tác đến cùng với Apple là bởi giao diện đồ họa lập trình ứng dụng mà cả hai hứa hẹn với nhau chính là một bước ngoặt của làng công nghệ khi đó, đến nỗi số người mà Gates phải cắt cử ở Microsoft cho việc tham gia dự án của Apple còn nhiều hơn tổng số nhân viên còn lại.

Làm việc nhiều với nhau, Bill Gates nhận ra tính tình của Steve Jobs khá thất thường trong công việc, nhất là khi xử sự với đồng nghiệp. “Bình thường Steve sẽ ở trong trạng thái rất hứng khởi, luôn miệng nói máy tính Mac là chìa khóa thay đổi thế giới công nghệ cũng như cuộc sống con người. Một lúc khác, anh ấy lại hơi ‘đơ đơ’, tự nhiên nói ra toàn những tâm tư lo sợ thầm kín, về dự định phân phối sản phẩm và nhiều lo toan, có cả xin lỗi rất chân thành…”

Biến cố đường đột, chuyển bạn thành thù

Ở thời điểm đó, Microsoft cũng đã khá nổi tiếng với hệ điều hành DOS của mình, nhưng họ đã ký kết cho ph��p tích hợp lên máy tính của đối tác IBM. Về cơ bản, giao diện của DOS khá đơn điệu và cổ điển, chỉ bao gồm những dòng lệnh tương tác dày đặc màn hình – khác hẳn với những gì mà Apple dự định nhờ vả Microsoft làm cùng cho Macintosh. Do vậy, trong quá trình làm việc gần gũi, nhiều nhân viên apple không khỏi lo lắng về việc bị phía Microsoft ngấm ngầm copy ý tưởng để mang về tự chế ra làm của riêng. Cụ thể, Andy Hertzfeld – một thành viên trong đội ngũ phát triển Macinstosh – còn cho biết những đồng nghiệp ở Microsoft của anh rất hay hỏi nhiều câu về dự án hệ điều hành mới dành cho Apple, và đã nói lại với Steve Jobs nghi ngờ của mình.

Không có lửa làm sao có khói, vì đúng là Bill Gates cũng dự tính trước cho mình nước đi đó. Là một nhà lãnh đạo có tầm nhìn lớn, không khó để ông nhận ra tiềm năng của giao diện tương tác đồ họa, lấn át những tàn dư công nghệ của quá khứ để vươn lên thống trị trong tương lai. Tình cờ hơn, ý tưởng này thực chất cũng chẳng phải do Apple hay chính Microsoft nghĩ ra, mà thuộc xuất xứ từ Xerox PARC – một doanh nghiệp nghiên cứu và phát triển ở Palo Alto, California. Vì thế, Gates cho rằng Apple và Microsoft đều có quyền được “học tập” ý tưởng như nhau để tự phát triển, chẳng có lý do gì mà Steve Jobs lại cấm đoán được mình cả.

Tất nhiên, Steve Jobs trước đó cũng có vài biện pháp phòng ngừa những rủi ro liên quan: Tạo ra một thỏa thuận với điều khoản rằng trong vòng 1 năm đầu tiên tính từ khi Macintosh ra mắt, Microsoft không được phép tự làm ra một thiết kế giao diện hệ điều hành tương tự cho ai ngoài Apple. Dù vậy, may mắn không mỉm cười với Jobs khi xui xẻo thay, Macintosh phải… trình làng muộn hơn 1 năm do vài sự cố ngoài ý muốn, vượt khỏi dự tính ban đầu trong thỏa thuận. Vì thế, Bill Gates đã nhanh chóng đánh bài ngửa luôn ngay trước khi hết giới hạn ngầm, thông báo công khai rằng họ sẽ sớm tung ra một phiên bản hệ điều hành có giao diện đồ họa mới cho IBM, gồm những biểu tượng tương tác và cửa sổ tác vụ.

Khỏi phải nói Steve Jobs đã sốc rồi tức giận đến nhường nào khi hay tin. Ông biết mình chẳng thể thay đổi sự thực đó nữa, nhưng vẫn một mực quát mắng, đòi gặp Bill Gates để làm cho ra nhẽ. Gates vẫn bình tĩnh tới gặp để thảo luận rõ trắng đen, dù có phải nhận một bài diễn văn thịnh nộ từ Jobs những cuối cùng, ông vẫn quả quyết: “Chúng tôi sẽ tạo ra Windows. Hệ điều hành có giao diện đồ họa sẽ là hướng đi mới của chúng tôi.”

Cuộc gặp định mệnh như một lời tạm biệt báng bổ tâm trí của Apple và Microsoft lần này diễn ra ngay trong phòng họp chính của Steve Jobs, nơi có đến 10 lãnh đạo Apple đang dồn sự chú ý vào Gates, chờ xem sếp của mình sẽ phản ứng như thế nào. “Anh đang phá hoại công sức của chúng tôi đấy! Tôi đã in tưởng anh, để rồi bây giờ anh quay lại ăn cắp sau lưng tôi,” Steve Jobs giận dữ. Chẳng cần phản kháng nhiều, Gates chỉ tiến tới nhìn thẳng vào mắt Jobs, nói một cách nhẹ nhàng trước khi rời đi: “Có lẽ chúng ta cần nhìn nhận sự việc theo một hướng khác. Cả hai chúng ta đều đã sang ‘hỏi thăm’ ý tưởng của Xerox đó chứ, đâu phải mình tôi đâu?”

Chuyện gì đến cũng phải đến, Apple quyết định dứt sạch tình cảm bằng mọt vụ kiện nổi lên đầu tiên, đánh dấu chuỗi ngày ghét bỏ lẫn nhau đầy tranh chấp giữa hai ông lớn công nghệ từng chung chí hướng. Hố sâu rạn nứt ngày một lớn hơn, từ những động thái ngầm dần chuyển sang công khai, không ngại dùng từ ngữ hạ thấp uy tín của nhau, gần như không còn chút hy vọng nào cho một quá khứ êm đềm ngày trước.

Tưởng như tình thế này là không thể cứu vãn, sau cùng sẽ tiếp tục kéo dài theo từng thế nối tiếp Bill Gates và Steve Jobs, nhưng KHÔNG! Chưa cần phải chờ tới lúc già yếu và có người kế nghiệp, chính Apple đã tự chủ động hàn gắn mối quan hệ đổ vỡ nhiều năm đầy u ám đó.
