💬 Fabiola Gonzalez: “This brought tears to my eyes remembering that summer of '89 when we were young and innocent and free. Layne and Demri and I walking through the long grasses on the trails of Magnuson Park, heading to meet up with El Steiner, Freedom James, Krisha, Jerry, Betzol, Demitri and others. Demri carrying her conga drum with a scarf wrapped around it, me a bottle and a stick. Layne's hair half in dreads and curls with his goatee braided and one of my beads dangling on the end of it. He wearing ripped up jean shorts and Dem and I in our bikinis. His and Demri's chests bare and golden from the sun, sparkles in our eyes and smiles, lots of smiles...we were going to worship, have a drum circle with our friends on the shores of Lake Washington and swim in it's waters on a hot summer day. That day Layne experienced the Soundgarden for the first time, when you could walk up to it and stand in the middle and listen to the the wind channel sound through the tubes, creating the most beautifully haunting, mystical music. Melancholy years later when he wrote the lyrics, he and Dem were on troubled waters and I in Eastern Washington pregnant with my twins. It was so strange how far away we all were then, and I remember, like Layne, that summer and to this day, like he, I SHOUT to God to bring back my sunny day. It still hurts and I treasure that he wrote those lyrics and mentioned me and friends on the album, for the inspiration of his words and the memory of such a special time. I'm probably in the minority with this but I wish the first 3 arcs of Sailor Moon Crystal were a two-part movie series (like they did with Eternal and Cosmos.).

This will probably make the Crystal fans seethe at the mouth bc God forbid anyone has an opinion different from them. But we probably would've avoided a lot of the embarrassing poor animation choices had they turned the material into two-part movies for each arc. They'd have more time to focus on the good bits that moved the story along. They'd have more time to also focus on the animation quality of the movies.

Maybe, as a result, they could've spent more time honing their character designs versus getting better after three FULL seasons of SMC.

Sorry not sorry, the designs in Eternal and Cosmos are way better than the poor attempts to copy Naoko's style that plagued the first 3 seasons of SMC.

It’s not a perfect adaptation, I think the biggest thing is they have taken a lot of the fun out of it, Aang doesn’t wanna go do kid stuff, Iroh is way more serious, BUT I don’t necessarily blame like the series itself as much as I blame the current state of tv being in constraints of like 8 episodes and wanting people to binge it in the first few days and everything.

I hope they let Azula be as scary as possible next season, I think they just wanted her introduced a bit earlier since everyone was gonna be waiting for it, I hope they let Iroh chill out a bit more, but in general from my point of view if you see people bashing this series with as much vitriol as the movie then they’re being super dramatic. There are parts that could absolutely be better but like I said those issues go hand in hand with issues with all of tv right now. I think it’s decent at least, I know it’s a beloved series but some people are being HARSH
