Respawn Headcanon:

I think the User, being practically born yesterday, has a strange relation ship with physically contact.

They haven't fully gotten the hang of personal space.

Especially with Kay. They just like leaning on him, using him as a head/armrest, hugging him, cuddling on the couch. They've deffinetly tried to pick him up but he put an end to that the second they thought of it.

He knows, when he has enough he can tell them and they will respect that. They're trying their best.

They sleep better when he's in arms reach. And the first night, they fell asleep resting their head in his lap.

They also haven't gotten used to other people touching them, so they have a tendency to flinch away when somebody else inntiates any form of contact.

But when it's on their terms they are a massive hugger.

Respawn OC Redraw!!

A redraw/mild redesign of Dumah, my Fae Folk OC from @magebunkshelf's "Respawn" series!!! I wanted to give her a less human, more alien/uncanny valley look.

It was fun to experiment with a new art style too~ Maybe next time I'll include her actual wings x.x

I have a million questions abt Felis' sorry if I talk a bit too much, Respawn is just so interesting to me-

Does catnip work on Cay?

How similair are Felis' to cats? [ <- general question, some more specific questions abt this -> ]

Do they need to nap constantly like cats do? When they wake up do they do the big yawn/ stretch? Do they communicate with their tails/ ears/ etc? Is there a Felis cat language?!?! [Sorry if this is really picky or alot to answer-]

So one rule I tend to use for demihumans (and similar - felis aren't technically demihumans since they are in different worlds) is to not give them 1:1 the same traits as the other animal half. They're a full sapient species, they just happen to have some traits similar to something else. So for instance an inu (dog-person) may not be allergic to chocolate. Felis probably don't have a draw to catnip, and would likely get offended at the suggestion! Similarly the moth had no draw to bright lights, I had to reference that one in the audio!

Felis won't need to nap constantly, though many still enjoy an afternoon kip. Heck yes to the stretch! They don't communicate with their ears and tail in the sense of like a sign language with antennae, but both ears and tail definitely play into expressing emotions, it's just an extension of body language; in the same way that a person my fold their arms which subconsciously communicates that they feel closed-off, a felis' tail may also wrap around their leg for the same reason.

Felis don't have their own language. While there are multiple languages in the Plane, felis were created too recently and mix with many other species to the point that they don't have a language of their own - most languages are more regional than species-wide, except for some older and more isolated species. Most felis just speak the common tongue (which I don't think I've ever named x.x), or for more distant places whatever language has become the most widely-spoken there. Felis Users may be more varied as a User's original spawn is random and only influenced by not being too far away from another sapient, meaning a User doesn't have to spawn near other members of their species.

Perdita is a very sweet, shy, curious soul. Generally soft spoken or the listener of the conversation and easily intimidated by large crowds.

Has no memory or knowledge of her life before she first spawned in. Understandable, you randomly wake up in some random field and have zero knowledge on anything.

The only memory she had was waking up in a field and looking up to she a strange yet adorable felis, a.k.a. Cayden, looking just as confused to see her as she was of him.

It’s safe to say she isn’t a dog person after the whole incident with the wolves.

I don't think we actually understand how fucking scary User's first death infront of Cay must have been for him

Imagine it, you meet this random person, they seem lost and have no idea who/ where they are so you agree to help. Mere minutes later you watch them get ripped apart, you see their limbs pulled off of their body and thrown to the side, each organ tugged out and chewed till the inside of their chest looked like broken watermelon

He watched the life snap out of their eyes, heard as their screams slowly faltered out. Watched as they cried, the tears being washed away by the rush of blood which came flooding out of them. Watched a stranger die, not just die, he watched them getting destroyed. Something he never imagined he'd be forced to witness.

He swore he heard the camera shutter in his mind as the wolves eventually cleared out, they died a jane/ john doe, to everyone else and to themself. They'd spend the rest of eternity never knowing who they were, their family would never know they'd died, nobody would. Their coworkers would wait for them to come back to work, their pets would wander the house, lost without them.

...but then...they came back. Why were they back-? How? What-? So many questions filled his head as a horrible realisation dawned on him. He'd seen them die, yet they were back...and they could go again. He wanted to help, there was another chance to find their life, remind them who they were but if he went along with this how many times would he be forced to see it. How many times would he see the colour drain from their face, the light in their eyes dim till it dissapeared. How much of their blood would spill into his hands. He didn't know, he never could

But there was so much more that he could know, if this went on. So many myths that would finally be put to rest in his mind. The mysteries he'd grown to shrug off as silly tales. He could understand, he'd just have to be ready. Ready for the bloodshed, for the pain, to look away, to ignore their screams of agony. Ready for them to come back, again and again

You know how in Minecraft there's spots where you can see ruined Nether portals in the Overworld? And it looks like the Nether's bleeding into the world? Is there anything like that in Respawn?

If your characters walked in on their Listener playing Just Dance, who do you think would be most likely to join in?

Does the sky glitch in the Plane? Like you're just watching a cloud drift by and something just- twitches.

Q: Respawn pt.1

So there's no Nether equivalent on the Plane, no other worlds or dimensions etc. There are however all sorts of strange structures in the world. Minecraft tries to tell a story of a world healing after ancient calamity, and it has things like ruins in its terrain generation because otherwise they wouldn't appear in your world.

The Plane is ancient. The ruins you can stumble across are actual places where people once walked in the past. Estas City for instance was once the capital of an ancient civilisation, back when the Devs lived amongst people, though for the most part long abandoned after the war of the dragons aside from smaller nearby settlements (if you've seen Return of the King, imagine if Minas Tirith was in the same state as Osgiliath and everyone there lives around it in smaller villages and towns).

And of course, you'll occasionally find things that make seemingly no sense. Perhaps the remnants of alchemy or magic cast by an Admin or Dev, or maybe even an ordinary person who learned how to use the first language: structures in nonsense shape, or passages where space bends. Places where all colour is bleached from the surfaces. Places where there are gaps in the world, leading into the darkness and nothing. Towers long abandoned with an invisible rend in space itself which must never be disturbed. A valley of furnaces. Or a deep rumbling passing by far beneath you, as if a colossal steamtrain running under the earth that could be felt through the rock... and then gone.

Oh, Mitch, easily! Mitch is the type to go to a convention in a Miku cosplay and end up on the DDR machines! I think Nem would be completely bewildered, but not in a bad way, they probably wouldn't understand it at all but would do their best to out of genuine curiosity.

Q: Respawn pt.2

Entirely possible, although rare. The underlying logic of the Plane is very stable, but the problem is if you know how, you could exploit almost anything. You can move the clouds if you knew the right words and had either the power (such as a Dev) or a method of unsanitised input.

The core concept for Respawn is a world built from logic as building blocks, by deities that like many ancient pantheons were just as flawed thinkers as we are. There are most definitely oversights in the way the world is structured, and some of them the Devs either won't or can't fix, either they lack the power, or they lack the power to prevent or foresee the new issues that the fix would cause.

So of course the clouds in the Place are water vapour and not just illusory... but the state of water is tied to things like the temperature, and in this world energy can be created or destroyed...

Q: A sona

Pretty much just VTuber Mitch, yeah! I didn't expect Mitch to take off as essentially the channel mascot but within weeks of that first audio I'd become known as the raccoon one, and I'm living for it! Audio Mitch and VT Mitch are very separate entities (think the difference between Majora's Young Link and Twilight Princess Link), and I'm currently developing some very different lore etc for VT Mitch to go along with sprucing up the livestreams style. Also people have accidentally called me Mitch since it's so close to Mage that I'm just owning it ^ ^

Q: Tea

I think it was Cartwright & Butler, though I can't really recommend it, it's the kind of tea you wind up getting in a hamper from someone for Christmas which is how we got a small box of it, it's far to pricey to bother getting besides. Nah Yorkshire Tea is where it's at!

Also oh my gosh boba tea is beautimus! I'd only had it when visiting America since it's more of a city thing (I'm a country bumpkin) until Fern said they knew a place! So good!!

Mitch - The classic squeak of surprise, then melt. Mitch loves hugs, and while he's not entirely comfortable asking for them most of the time, he's definitely gotten better at accepting them! ^ ^

Aru - Massive cosy hug back. Aru loves hugs as well, but is very afraid of being too much and pushing people away. If you're sitting next to him at the shrine and hug him with one arm, he'll hug you back with a tail.

Jackson - turns completely red. He usually likes his space but can appreciate a hug.

David - "It's not like I'm enjoying it or anything" >:/

Bats - "Yeah you are, idiot!" （*＾-＾*）

Marco - Day has an answer for this!!

Ji'ya - "okay hello what's this- what does this mean?"

Prince Seris - He'd probably worry what people would think (for your sake), if it's allowed because of his station and elves being a little high-strung about humans... and then hug gratefully back.

Cay - Not the huggy type, he really appreciates his personal space, especially around people taller than felis. But sometimes you need a good hug. Let him come to you.

Raban - More feelings than I think I could comprehend. But he'd kindly ask you to stop, and ask you to save such gifts for the worthy.

Lochlan - A weak chuckle and "uhh, what's this for?" He's a little weird about hugs. Same with Cay, let him come to you.

Kai - A light-hearted deep happy sound and a gentle hug back. + a kiss on the top of your head cos you short

Gerrak - "...What are you doing?" out of genuine confusion. He's not bothered by it and won't stop you, he just doesn't get it.

Θ - Qeobxa. Kbbaib. Bjyoxzb.

The Snowboarder (Moth 2 & 3 speaker) - Assuming this comes from a demihuman, he'd be very surprised and ask if you're sure that's okay with you. He tries to keep a respectable distance and not come into physical contact. But if you insist on the hug he'd warmly appreciate it.

Nem - They'd go a little limp-armed for a moment, then warmly hug you back, with their arms first and then with their wings. They won't break the hug until you do.

Aspen - "Oi oi, WATCH IT human! ...alright but just a bit... B-But don't touch the ears! ...okay, a little scratch..."

First is Dumah! She's a Fae Folk ^^ She is greedy and duplicitous and will absolutely swindle you. Her wing design is based off a lace bug!

Then there's Ned! Ned is a 11.5-foot-tall feral golem ^^

in respawn, since the sun and moon are like fixed projections on the sky, the same for everyone no matter where on the Plane they are, is it the same for stars? Is it still possible to navigate by them?

Yep, the stars too! On the Plane, all the celestial bodies appear the same size and at the same distance and angle in the sky no matter where in the world you are
