(I'm in love with the idea that) Maglor wandered Middle-earth so long that he became the last of the elves on the continent, refusing to die but unable to sail west, and one day he fainted on the beach. It is not the first time it has happened, and it will not be the last (?), whether due to lack of sleep, dehydration, hunger, or any of the torments that followed him. But when he gets up, he is not on the beach, he is in a cabin in the woods. He quickly deduces which woman of the race of men took pity on him and cared for him in his inconvenience.
Maglor wants nothing more than to return to his self-inflicted exile, to hate himself, and to be nothing more than a scrutiny of his own life, but he is very weak. The woman has placed heavy blankets over him, which are warm and comfortable, so before realizing it, he returns to unconsciousness. He feels from time to time that she feeds him liquid meals and takes care of his badly injured hand, whose pain is already chronic. Maglor doesn't know how long it took him to be able to get out of bed on his own, but it's been a while, and he's a gentleman at the end of the day. His mother raised him well despite all the mistakes he made by choice, but she taught him and his brothers how to treat a lady, regardless of her race.
Maglor helps the women tend to her gardens, makes sure her house is well taken care of while she works (in a job she doesn't talk about directly, is ambiguous about its specifications, and never really says what it is even though he directly asks a couple of times after several weeks of taking care of his voice at his request), and makes sure to be as helpful as possible. He doesn't plan to stay, he's simply staying to settle a debt that an innocent woman shouldn't have created with a relative killer like him. So he only wanted to free her from her presence as soon as possible once Maglor made up for the time she spent taking care of and the resources she used in taking care of him.
He doesn't leave. He stayed. The days pass. And although Maglor feels that his debt to her is paid, since his garden is more beautiful than ever, and he made sure that the house was in perfect condition, to the point that he has had to really look for things to do lately. He doesn't want to leave.
He married once, but she did not follow him to Beleriand. Still, despite the time, he recognizes the feeling that begins to brew in his fea and in his heart with every minute he spends with that woman. One day, when he helps her with the garden, they end up in a closer position than they should, their hands touching without gloves, and he almost loses his breath. There, he decided that he was leaving.
He loved her enough, his sweet human, who had gone out to help a fainted and desolate stranger on the beaches without expecting anything in return, to understand that if he didn't leave her now, he would never leave her. He couldn't allow his own condemnation to affect her.
(Selfishly, Maglor also knew that he would not want to live beyond the day she joined death, which was the destiny of his race. And he did not believe he deserved the definitive end that was death, he was sure that the empty would not even be enough empty for him and his actions.)
The woman gently tries to convince him to stay, not too hard, as she seems resigned to the fate of him leaving, but she tries. Maeglo looks the same, smiling sadly at him, leaving the cabin behind with his harp on his back and heading towards where the sea should be.
But Maglor can't get to the beach. She can't even get out of the woods. He walks and walks, but three times he is taken back to the cabin, which remains intact but empty. He tries to the point of desperation, but he can't seem to get out. The last time he walks to the cabin, after days of trying to get out of the woods, the woman is waiting for him standing in front of the cabin, and she seems sad and embarrassed, but firm and ready for the conversation to come.
“What are you?” Maglor asks, straight to the point of the conversation, desperate to know what he had gotten himself into.
“I didn't want you to find out like this, I swear-”, the woman tries to explain with shame and desperateness to justify her lies.
“Answer me,” Maglor demands. The woman sighs shakily, but she finally answers.
“I have many names, in all languages and for all races. But your people call me the Gift of Ilúvatar.”
Maglor could have fallen dead right there from fright and shock. Although he could potentially already be dead, he realized that the woman who had won her old and painful heart was nothing less than death itself.
He had fallen in love with the dead.
What does this mean?
How could this end for them?
Why did she lie to him?
Was he dead? Or was he kidnapped in some estrage way?
Did she follow the order of the Valar? Or Maybe of Eru himself?
Does she love him back?
That was really the only question he care about, as crazy as it may be.

SFW and NSFW Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: Once again, I have returned with my modern AU headcanons after so long. I’ve promised you all DILF headcanons for Maglor after it won the poll from last year. Sorry for the long wait. Do enjoy!
Warnings: female reader, pregnancy, breeding, lactation kink
➽ Modern AU Series
Tumblr media
SFW
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…has adopted two children, Elrond and Elros and lives in a small-town neighbourhood. Despite his age, he has the most youthful-looking appearance that has all the mothers fawning over him every time he drops his sons off at school. He has a few grey streaks in his hair, but people tend to brush it off as his natural hair colour and not a sign of his ageing.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…catches your eye one day at the supermarket while he’s out buying groceries for his kids. It was Elros who ran off in the middle of shopping and allowed Maglor to bump into you. He was kind enough to pay for your few items.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…finds you cute and when he discovers that you live within the neighbourhood, uses his sons as a means to get you to talk to him since he was nervous in the beginning. When he gains the confidence, he’ll make regular trips to your home and spend the evening cooking and teaching you tips.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who… invites you over for Sunday lunches so you and the twins can bond in the kitchen as you assist them with cooking. He’ll stand in the doorway and observe how perfect you look interacting with his sons, and can’t help himself from thinking how lovely you were for him.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…loves to bring you with him in the mornings whenever he’s dropping off the twins just to make all the other parents jealous. He’ll pull you in for a side hug and swoop in for a peck to make everyone get the hint that he’s taken and you all are a family.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…spends his time off taking all four of you on family-oriented holidays and shows everyone who’s ogling him that he’s taken by the most beautiful partner in the world. He loves to give you tons of kisses and then laugh whenever Elrond and Elros scream ‘ew’ or ‘yuck’.
DILF! Maglor who…smiles brilliantly the first time he hears Elrond and Elros address you as mother/mummy. It was a dream come through and all that he needed to commence the final act…put a ring on your finger and make you his wifey.
NSFW
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…pulls you into the backseat of the car after he dropped his sons off at school for a quick fuck because you two were interrupted this morning by the twins. Everything is sweaty and hot as he folds you into some challenging position to suit the cramped spacing. It becomes a ritual whenever you both have to drop them off at school or pick them up.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…finds the most obscure places to have quickies because the twins are so attached to you, they never wish to give you a break and leave you alone for a second. Sometimes early in the morning as you’re making breakfast, in the shower or in the cabinet when the twins are out of sight…for five minutes.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…takes you to neighbourhood parties the other mothers are hosting to rub it in their faces that there’s no way they can fit themselves in between you two by sneaking away for a quick session in the washroom and hoping that the others hear.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…reads up on lots of medical books for pregnancies because he’s been wanting another child to care for and who else could be more perfect than you to bare his next baby. He ensures that you’re eating right and he’s fucking you enough times a week to increase the chances of impregnation.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…loves to rub your stomach every session and whisper about how you’ll look lovely with a round belly and carrying his child. He praises you all the time to reassure you of any doubt you’re having as he folds you into a deeper mating press before releasing himself into you. Makes you keep his cum in you longer than usual for certainty.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who… is thrilled to learn that you’re pregnant and shares the news with his sons before having a little family celebration. He’ll take you all out for ice cream and let the twins eat as much as they want because he knows it’ll put them to sleep so you and he can celebrate in private back home.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…keeps you active throughout your pregnancy because he’s gravitated towards your belly and how you’re glowing. It’s worse when he observes how the twins constantly surround you, rubbing your growing belly, and talking to their sibling.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…has grown an affinity for your breasts now that they’re all swollen with milk and will massage and squeeze them for you anytime they’re hurting. However, once the baby is born, he finds a way to become useful anytime your breasts leak. Lactation kink unlocked. He adores how plump your breasts have become.
⊰ DILF! Maglor who…is blessed for the new addition to his little family and is grateful for having you in his children and his life.

See one of my favorite Rivendell headcanons is that even though it's a wonderful, peaceful sanctuary, pretty much everyone there could be incredibly dangerous if they wanted to be. Like, let's think about who lives in that valley.
Elrond Peredhel, resident healer and eldritch crime against nature, self-explanatory
Glorfindel, slayer of balrogs, self-explanatory
Erestor, probably Feanorian, definitely dangerous
Old Feanorian diehards, all of whom are probably looking for an excuse to commit morally justified violence
Old Gondolindrim/Iathrim, who, despite what they might tell you, are exactly as dangerous as the Feanorians
Garthaglir the Library Orc, who absolutely remembers how to use the giant battleaxe he keeps behind his desk
A strange, shadowy figure roaming the valley who I'm *sure* isn't Maglor Feanorian, but who is nonetheless a terrifying singer
Elladan and Elrohir, who have spent the last several centuries becoming nightmare fuel for Sauron's forces
Arwen, eldritch, bites
Bilbo Baggins, not to be underestimated, can defeat a grown man with nothing more than his scathingly polite commentary
Dunedain visitors, vaguely feral, highly trained
Aragorn, very feral, highly trained
Lindir, not actually dangerous, but if you upset him you are going to have problems with everyone else on this list
I actually really like the idea that a lot of the people who live in Rivendell are inherently kind of dangerous, because it means that they're actively choosing peace and kindness for themselves and I love that.

maglor does the scariest impressions. Once, he walked in on Maedhros and fingon and said in his feanor voice, ‘what is going on here?’ Mae almost had a heart attack.

Instead of Elrond looking like some vague Finwëan-Sindar combo
Elrond looks a little different to everyone that sees him
His face doesn’t change. He is still very much Elrond Peredhel, but his features will always remind whoever sees him of some form of a regret.
He supposes it is a combination of being a healer and the descendent of Maia but he tries not to dwell too hard on it.
(It is very uncomfortable to be the image of the deepest wounds of another’s heart)
Nonetheless, it is difficult to heal one’s own soul without facing the reasons for its damage.
Elros Tar-Minyatur was the only one to ever look at Elrond and see only Elrond.
If this was because his blood matched Elrond’s, or because Elrond was Elros’ deepest regret, Elrond doesn’t particularly want to know
Maedhros, utterly predictably, saw Fingon, and in doing so, found both comfort and misery.
Occasionally he would see in Elrond the ghosts of all his brothers, and he would again face the knowledge that he was not able to save them from their doom and the dark void.
Maglor sees Maedhros, and feels regret, not for the violence or the death, but for days in far off Valinor, under the light of the Trees. Days of running off with friends, to sing, to compose, to preform for adoring fans, to do anything but stay at home and help Maitimo take care of their small army of younger siblings.
(Maybe then the title of eldest brother would weigh less heavy on Mae’s shoulders. Maybe then the responsibility of care for them all would not have driven him so far, and to such a bitter end.)
If Glorfindel is to be asked, he’d tell you Elrond appears to him as the spitting image of Turgon
If you are Erestor, you know Glorfindel mostly sees Maeglin, Maeglin young and quiet, Maeglin older and scared, but sometimes also Aredhel, defiant and ready to disappear into the woods without a sound
Elwing once looked upon her son and saw naught but the visage of her little brothers
Galadriel sees Finarfin, as does Celebrimbor, for very different reasons, but mostly because they share the same kind of kindness, and there is little that marks a person better than that
In quieter moments Galadriel will glimpse what her husband sees, Lúthien, as she was after Beren died, solemn, trapped, and entombed in misery.
During Bilbo’s final years, he can’t quite remember what he first thought upon looking on Elrond’s face (he’s sure it’s written down somewhere) but in those last days, he sometimes sees Frodo, wary and so very afraid. But mostly Elrond resembles Thorin and that is something Bilbo shall never set to paper
(Someday, in a time far beyond the counting of years, Fëanor will find himself staring at the face of his grandchild and seeing the eyes of Míriel Þerindë above the features Indis and will have a very small, very quiet meltdown.

I think the Noldor, but especially the Fëanorians would enjoy flyting.
If you don't know what flyting is, it's basically a form of improvised poetry competition between two and perhaps more people and the goal is to dish out the most offencive insults at your opponent as you can possibly imagine.
With how confrontational the Fëanorians are and also linguistically inclined it seems like a pastime they would engage in and use as a form of venting/hashing out conflicts to avoid resorting to physical fights.
I'd imagine Maglor and Fëanor would be unbeatable champions of flyting, both of them easily coming up with rhyming insults, and Curufin would be close behind, the three of them would have the largest vocabulary stored in their heads.
Maedhros is also good with words, but I think he would take his time to think through his verses, the poetry aspect of it not coming as naturally to him. He'd also probably only participate in friendly competition, he'd rarely have any real beef with anyone. Oh but when he does get angry it's a sight to behold.
Maglor wouldn't have much beef with anyone either, though he might fabricate some for the drama. He still participates in as many flyting matches as he can for the fun of it.
Fëanor and Curufin on the other hand are genuinely out there to call everyone a fucking idiot, full offence. If you get on their bad side or they just simply hate you, then get ready for the most cruel yet still somehow artistic verbal lashing you ever heard.
Caranthir would halfway through a flyting get too angry to express himself, and being tongue tied just makes him even more angry, falling into a negative feedback loop.
Celegorm has zero artistic bone in his body. Poetry whom? He just starts listing off the most crude insults and curses he knows. No rhymes, no rhythm, no musicallity to his cadence, just word vomit.
Ambarussa are clumsy in their rhymes, but they're entertaining to watch as they toss lines back and forth to each other, challenging the other to come up with a rhyme for their words. Also, the one who isn't performing the verse beatboxes in the background.
Nerdanel says one scathing haiku then leaves.

Macalaurë is the spitting image of Fëanáro, even more so than Curufinwë.
At a first glance, Curvo looks more like their father, but that is in large part because he has Fëanáro's RBF, and Cáno smiles more. Macalaurë is closer to Fëanáro's height (there weren't many tall genes left for Curvo after Nelyo, Tyelko, and Moryo, and as such Curufinwë is the shortest of the Sons at Nerdanel's height). Macalaurë's hair has the same wavy pattern whereas Curvo's is straight. His eyes are the same mithril compared to Curvo's iron hue. Macalaurë has Fëanáro nose, chin, judgemental eyebrows, even hands and toes!
This is because Nelyo took a lot out of Nerdanel, so much so that Fëanáro was worried she'd Fade. It took her until Nelyo was nearly full grown to convince her husband to have another, and he did most of the work in creating their second son. (He would've done everything save carry Cáno if he had his way.)
Macalaurë Cánafinwë popped out a little clone of baby Fëanáro, only even louder.
By the time they got to Tyelko, Nerdanel and Fëanáro had figured out the best way to craft their children. Their five other sons were about a 50/50 split effort.
Anyone who knew Fëanáro can see him in Cána. When he laughs, one of those rich belly laughs and not a polite chuckle. When he's enraged and his lips curl into a snarl. When his face is empty and expressionless.
(Upon meeting Maglor in Middle Earth, Fingolfin believed him to be his brother until Maglor spoke.)

Do you think for a moment, before the Silmarils burned, that Maedhros and Maglor felt like they were home?
That light was the light of Aman, all that was left of the Two Trees (aside from the distant sun and moon). It was the same light that they had seen their father shape into gems when they were young. I sometimes forget that there was a time when the Silmarils really were theirs, when they didn’t burn their hands at the touch, when Fëanor wore them openly about and let his sons behold them too.
And then, all these years later, when they were finally in possession of their father’s gems, their eyes were filled once more with the same light that had illuminated Valinor before its darkening.
Do you think, for a moment, they felt like they were home?

Maedhros, Celegorm, & Curufin are beautiful in a flashy way where their beauty is the first thing you notice about them and you’re never able to forget how beautiful they are
Maglor, Caranthir, Amrod, & Amras are beautiful in a subtle way where their beauty isn’t the first thing you notice about them but when you do notice their beauty you’ll never be able to un-notice it

Maglor the Old Elf
In my AU, Elladan and Elrohir find Maglor on the beaches of Middle Earth, he is ill, physically worn, and even has visible strands of grey strewn throughout his midnight hair.
Maglor is taken to Imladris to heal and be at peace for the first time in many millenia. Elrond is beyond relieved and near tears when he sees his sons riding into Imladris with a very familiar elf with them.
Maglor embraces Elrond but tries to refuse care and healing, stating he did not deserve it. Elrond told Maglor that Imladris is a place of peace and healing, no amount of past deeds and self loathing will change that.
Maglor is treated long and hard for illness and fever that seems almost engraved in his bones. But Elrond works day and night to provide comfort for his foster father.
The Elves of Imladris are more intrigued by Maglor rather then feared or hated, the elflings especially, they found the mix of grey and black in his braids to be beautiful and his tall tales he would tell to his own young brothers wludl entertain them for hours. Maglor while recovering well is still affected by the years on his feet, his eyes and bones are old, his eyesight is not as sharp as it once had been and his bones are weary and frail, he takes to using a walking stick/or cane, a beautiful one made and carved by Elladan and Elrohir.
Many of the less familiar elves took to calling him "Maglor the Old Elf", as besides the silvan and Avari, Maglor seemed to have collected one of the largest sums of years, alongside Cirdan the Shipwright. He also weeps at getting to meet his mysterious nephew Erestor, Caranthir's son... one of the last of his family.
I also headcanon that Cirdan and Maglor become friends during this time as well. After hearing about the return of Maglor, Cirdan makes time to visit Imladris and examine the situation, but all he sees is an old, weary elf trying to warm his ever chilled bones with a thick quilt. Cirdan takes to talking with Maglor and the two soon form a strong friendship with each other.
From one old elf to another.
I have way more ideas on this if anybody would like some short stories!

Obsessed by the implications that by the time kidnap fam is happening, Maglor is dealing with so much responsibility he never asked for. Basically becoming the person on whom the wellbeing of all his remaining family and soldiers depends on.
Like, Maedhros is technically in charge, politically, but he's also depressed and suicidal, perhaps actively so at times. Even if he's capable of managing the remaining Fëanorian forces, he's very much not capable of managing himself, or the twins. Or Maglor. Maglor is not used to this.
And at the same time, I think this is probably him taking small steps towards becoming the kind of person that is capable of throwing away the Silmaril and living on, despite the oath, despite his father's dying wish. The problem with growing up among Fëanorians is that you never learn how to decide without multiple very strong and overbearing wills influencing you, but this here is when Maglor begins to learn.
He will fall back on Maedhros at the crucial juncture once more and give in to his will regarding the Silmarils, but he will not follow him into death next. And then he will be alone, but he will tear off a scrap of linen, wrap the hand holding the Jewel in it and make a step towards the sea, and the step shall be his own.

The voyage west at the end of Return of the King is extremely funny to me, because just look at who's on board. You've got:
Frodo Baggins, hero of the Shire, in need of healing but also excited to see Valinor and meet the legendary elves who live there, a gentle soul
Elrond Halfelven, as kind as a summer, looking forward to peace west of the sea, probably wants to go chill out in a cottage with his wife for the next thousand years
Which seems fine. And then we get to everyone else.
Gandalf, cheeky bastard who's gotten so used to being a weird old wizard in Middle-Earth that's he's forgotten what Maia are supposed to act like, will immediately cause problems
Bilbo Baggins, noted storyteller, definitely planning to break into Aule's halls to see his dwarf friends, will ask all the elves weird questions and then sing about their lives and deaths in front of them, will immediately cause problems
Galadriel, who came to Aman half for Celebrian and Elrond's sake and half to taunt all her cousins about being the only one of them to survive the First Age, enjoys causing problems, will immediately cause many problems
(Also, to be clear, these are not three isolated problem-causers, they absolutely spent the entire trip to Valinor actively planning to give Amanyar society and the Valar an aneurysm.)
I just love the idea of Elrond, now reunited with Celebrian, and Frodo happily having tea with Elwing and Earendil, with nothing to interrupt them but the gentle sounds of the tides.
Meanwhile Galariel, Bilbo, and Gandalf are collectively bullying Mandos into releasing Maglor Feanorian from the halls because:
Bilbo wants to read him his translation of the Noldolante, which is written as a cheery Hobbit drinking song
Elrond always complained about how Gandalf and Maglor were both insufferably vague about advice and Gandalf needs to make sure he's more infuriating than Maglor as a matter of his wizardly pride
He still owes Galadriel money

Silm Headcanon:
Finwë could flap his ears, like not a bit but full on angry cat style flap them down when he was sad. That was something absolutely unique to him that none of his children or other relatives could do.
Until Elrond was born.
He had the flapping ears, but neither Elwing or Eärendil knew what it was so it was just labeled as a weird quirk, he had many of those.
It never really came up again.
Until the third kinslaying.
The whole battle happens, Elwing flees with the Silmaril, Elrond and Elros get kidnapped and taken hostage by Maedhros and Maglor, the whole story.
They get taken to Amon Ereb and everything seems normal, just two half elven kids with some ainuric features to themselves, nothing too weird.
But one day Maedhros sees.
One day Elrond accidentally ran into a podium and pushed off the vase that stood on there, shattering it completely. He of course apologized immediately, cause it’s Elrond, of course he’s polite, even as a child.
Maedhros assures him it’s fine and not to worry and cleans the vase off the floor so no one gets hurt. Afterwards he goes to Elrond to reassure him he’s not angry because the boy seemed startled.
He walks into the room Elrond and Elros slept in and looks around for him. Elrond sits on the bed and turns to Maedhros, who then sat down at the foot of said bed and made sure Elrond knew he wasn’t angry.
Elrond however apologizes again anyways and this time his ears flap because he feels guilty.
And Maedhros‘ mind goes absolutely blank.
He gets thrown back in time and immediately has his grandfather in front of his eyes, it doesn’t help the case at all when Elrond looks up at him and his ears go even deeper because he thinks he somehow upset him.
Maedhros stumbles back, half convinced he’s hallucinating, but after a few moments he realizes he’s not, and he breaks down.
He simply collapses onto the floor and begins sobbing. Heavy tears dwelled in his eyes and ran down his face. His entire form is trembling, his eyes red, and his mind in going into overload with memories.
Moments later Maglor walks in, having heard the commotion. At first he’s confused at seeing his big brother on the floor crying, but then he sees Elrond, and time stops.
He doesn’t break down, he doesn’t cry or shake. He just freezes, his limbs simply refuse to move and make him freeze in place like a statue.
They stayed like that for some time until Elrond began to sniffle, thinking he did something wrong.
They explain it to him and he feels really proud for having something in common with such a great elf.
From that day on Maedhros treats Elrond like a son. He can’t stop himself, it just feels wrong not to. He clings onto that small detail on the child that was supposed to be his hostage and it helps him, it help him so much.
Elrond, who by now understood the reason behind their reactions, starts using it as a way to help them. Whenever he spots either Maedhros or Maglor sad he goes up to them, climbs onto their lap and flaps his ears, and they hug him, and it helps.

how silm characters react to the fandom
Feanaro: gets way too involved way too quickly, has multiple troll accounts and blocks anyone who sa-si’s.
Nerdanel: can’t really use technology but thinks it’s kind of fun.
Maitimo: instant anxiety attack. Is morbidly fascinated by all the russingon smut. Thinks the Fingon content is sweet. Loves kidnap fam.
Maglor: follows nails-in-my-wall. Immediately starts shitposting about his family. Uncertain why half the fandom thinks he’s a crab.
Celegorm: Deleted his account when he realised Finrod got more rep than him. His new account only is on the low down.
Caranthir: embezzling fanartists somehow. No moral compass.
Curufin: found silvergifting, had a heart attack.
Nolofinwë: Anaire keeps complimenting all the art of him and he’s getting flustered.
Fingon: obsessively saves artwork of Maedhros. Ironically endorses the posts calling him a posh asshole.
Aredhel: gets so much closure from all the online support.
Turgon: disproportionately annoyed by one (1) person who said he was insensitive.
Finarfin: always brings up the youngsters on the internet who think he’s a good king.
Finrod: thinks he’s not famous enough. Works to remedy that.
Aegnor: wonders why everyone thinks he owns and frequently uses a hair straightener; cries over every artwork of him and Andreth.
Galadriel: no one knows and it’s frankly disturbing.
Elrond: periodically censors posts using him as a moral compass. Offers hugs to everyone who reblogged that one post.
