good news yugioh mutuals i rewatched bonds beyond time with my brother this week and am now very much thinking about yugioh 👍 tell me smthn fun about it (if you’d like :]) i’ve never really been in its fandom

here are jsut some random facts i know:

in toeis season 0 they made it so one of honda/tristans aspirations was to be a pilot which is so cute bc hes given like nothing in canon

in the digital world arc of anime duel monsters joeys like the one person who asks what his deckmasters abilities are while atem & tea just wait for some macguffin moment haha

in GX chazz princeton had this chant in the OG dub that was a fun play of words with his name "majoume jun" where jaden always refferred to him pretty informally so hed be like "san-da!" which sounds like the japanese word for thunder and when he went to another academy he did it with one of the students there but they thought he was saying majoume thunder so it became his fun little chant and the guys at 4kids decided to make it chazz it up in the dub which is endlessly funny to me. i know theres no good way to literally translate majoume thunder but certaintly there some other play on words they couldve done but i love chazz it up so

bakura ryou lovessss the occult and the deck yami bakura used in battle city is actually one ryou made! the deck freaks out joey

in the og manga duke devlins whole intro arc involved his clown dad who dresses as a clown 24/7 and his dad tries to burn down the building theyre all in its wild. in the anime they just play digeon dice monsters and are normal

Ryuji reminds himself of the number on his plane ticket as he walks down the rows. 8. 9. 10. 11. There it is.

The dice-roller places his carry-on in the small compartment above them before taking a seat next to the black-clad passenger. A small sense of relief washes over him upon realizing the person he'll be sitting next to on this flight seems (at first glance anyway) normal. There have been times he's had to sit next to someone who was so terrified of flight that she dug her nails into Ryuji's arm each time they came across any turbulence-- and there was the time with that guy that Ryuji swore had run a marathon right before getting on the plane. This guy seems pretty chill at least, this flight might actually be decently--

pleasant.

Ryuji doesn't even finish that thought before the shriek of a child pierces through the plane. A parenting couple is making their way down the rows with three small children following behind-- and two infants being carried. Ryuji's eyes must grow to twice their normal size as the group tries to make their way through, the diaper bag smacking into the heads of every seated passenger along the way.

In an attempt to avoid getting a face-full of screaming infant or diaper bag, Ryuji leans as far away from the incoming group as he can, causing his shoulder to brush against his fellow passenger's. "-- Sorry." He says with a small wince as two of the children come to sit directly behind them. They're going to get their seats kicked, aren't they?

"Though I cannot say the same for you, Manjoume Jun. Especially with the choice of monsters that you bring. Plus, I am nothing like Kaiba Seto in any regard."

“A toast to the lost throne you will definitely regain, then, King,” he said sarcastically. “Bottoms up.”

“It’s funny you should mention being defeated by worthy duelists- like Hell Kaiser, Edo Phoenix and Yuki Judai are no-name good-for-nothings. Since, you know. I’m in their league? And have actually secured victory against them at times? And Yuya. Please. He’s like what, 5? Have some self-respect, old man.” He shook his head as he finished the sentence.

“Oh, yeah, I’m very sorry for actually being good enough at Duel Monsters to manage to win even when using Ojamas.”
