Usagi stared out of the window with her head propped up on her chin. In the background, her teacher was giving a lecture on irrational remainders, or chemical compounds, or something. Usagi wasn't paying enough attention to remember which class she was in. Vaguely she knew she'd pay for that later, but she knew Ami would help her cram for any tests coming up.
It had been three days since her run in with Mamoru and Ann, and she had determinedly avoided them both. It was easy with Ann. They seemed to have made a silent agreement of mutual avoidance since the incident, so despite being in the same classes, Usagi had hardly seen Ann. Mamoru was a surprising challenge. Like magnets they seemed to be drawn to each other, even though she had been avoiding the places she knew he was likely to be. In the three days following the hospital incident, she had run into Mamoru at the grocery store picking up snacks; at the library where she met with Ami for tutoring; even at the mall where she was shopping for new shoes. Usagi was beginning to suspect that those run-ins weren't accidents. He had spotted her each time and started towards her, but each time Usagi managed to pretend she hadn't seen him and duck away before he could catch up.
Makoto's speed drills are coming in handy, Usagi reflected. Then she sighed. She knew she couldn't keep avoiding Mamoru. If he really was trying to speak to her, Usagi knew it was only a matter of time before he managed to find her in a place where she wouldn't be able to escape so easily. She distantly recalled that in another life, he had been famous for his tracking abilities. Besides, she missed him. The sting of embarrassment was beginning to fade, and Usagi thought that if Mamoru wanted to catch her, she'd consider making it less difficult.

A long time ago, I cropped Yachiru and Momo so they could sit on top of Windows, customizing some old program I downloaded off the internet I really can't remember the name of right now. But it was also some anime girl sitting on windows.
It's not as exciting as a shimeji and it was several years before those, but also several years after screen mates.
I kept clinging to Windows XP well into 2008.

In Sailor Moon R episode 61, there's a scene where Berthier's dress blows up while she yells "Oh! Moretsu!" This is a reference to an infamous 1969 Japanese gasoline commercial starring model and actress Roza Ogawa.
Surprisingly, I didn't catch this until the other day, probably because I almost never rewatch the early Black Moon episodes. I usually just watch the Makaiju arc and then skip to when Esmeraude appears.

Moonlight Knight, complete with his corny Arabian Nights Theme Score, As Daydreamed By Makoto Kino.
Amazing lolol.
I do wonder how she’ll reflect on this turbo-crushing on Mamoru later on lol. Are she and Rei gonna a be a selfhelp group? Girls Who Crushed On Our Friend’s Soulmate?

So I’ve been on vacation and had a craving for some Sailor Moon rewatch. For this, I entirely blame @floraone for her rewatch and excellent commentary on the makaiju arc. I also blame her because, yeah, there SHOULD be more fanfiction in this arc. Since my fanfic writing plate is full, I present to you all some fanfic ideas.
1) Let’s see this arc from Moonlight Knight’s perspective. Seriously, what is going on in his head? We know he’s the part of Mamoru that holds the memories. Give me that longing of wanting to be with her but knowing that he can’t reveal himself yet (also, WHY can’t he reveal himself yet?)
Tumblr media
2) On a similar note, let’s see Mamoru’s POV. What are his feelings towards Usagi? How do they change? When does he start feeling more comfortable around her?
Tumblr media
3) Okay, this one is dipping further into R since I kept watching, but I still want to see it. The Sleeping Beauty episode during the break up arc should have been the episode that prompted them getting back together. Do you not see all the pain in Mamoru’s face? How he can’t live without her? Gah!!!!
Tumblr media
4) Why can’t Luna actually restore Mamoru’s memories? She never tries and there is NEVER a reason given why she doesn’t. Give me a fic that has Usagi tricking Mamoru into being somewhere so Luna can try to bring those memories back but of course fails since his memories are separate from him.
Tumblr media
5) I am a big fan of the dynamic of Minako and Artemis. They just have such a casual, sibling-like relationship. And we never got to see these two reunite! It would be full of adorable banter and teasing and catching up and it would just be precious!
Tumblr media
6) Finally, give me a scene with Usagi and Mamoru that takes place directly after this arc. The battle is won and they go back to his place because frankly, he still has a lot of questions and she just needs to tell him how much she missed him. It would be so friggin cute!!!!
Tumblr media
If any of these inspire you, please use them and send the fics to me. I want to read and devour them!!!!!

An observation I found online once and really liked: Kyubey is an alien with an evil scheme to steal Energy from teenage girls. Therefore, Kyubey is a Sailor Moon villain
This message suddenly made me remember Alan and Ann in every episode of the Doom Tree Arc randomly declaring a new group as the best source of energy for their species. like “newborn babies are incredibly powerful” and “nobody has more sheer life force than a VR gamer”. Maybe Kyubey has to take a leaf out of the doom tree aliens handbook and learn to generate positive energy for HIMSELF.

its really funny that my favorite parts of the original sailor moon anime are things they changed from the manga but my least favorite parts are also things they changed from the manga
likewise my favorite parts of crystal are things they kept from the manga but my least favorite parts are also things they kept from the manga

I don't quite remember what inspired this originally. I believe I was rewatching Sailor Moon at the time, and I was...frustrated isn't the quite the word, but I wanted a bit more to the Usagi/Alan/Ann/Mamoru drama than we got. This isn't so much a divergence as it is a fleshing out of the canon. I think the Makaiju arc was fun. I understand it was more of a filler arc, but I still enjoyed it. It was originally intended to be a one shot, but eventually, I came back and added 2 more chapters, and now I feel that this is one of my better Sailor Moon fics. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Look I’m already a Certified Alienfucker so this isn’t a surprise to anyone, but Ail and An are so cute

And (in a rare turn of events) I actually love their disguised forms as well, mostly cause they kept the adorably creepy eyes

Conversation
Mamoru, getting his memory back at the end of the Makaiju arc: Woah...I remember. Me and you were pretty close, huh.
Usagi: Yeah.
Usagi: Now don’t go forgetting me again because, quite frankly, that was offensive.

I really like your ATLA/Sailor-Moon crossover but as someone who doesn't know anything about SM (yes I know, I've been living under a rock), how would you recommend I read/watch more about it to get the best experience? Do I just start reading the manga? Is it the same as the anime? I see that there are two animes? Are they also the same or a sequel? Sorry for all the questions if you don't mind haha
I would say to go with any or all of them. Crystal is essentially the Manga up to the Nehellennia/Dead Moon Circus arc adapted more or less straight into an anime version.
The original anime came out at the same time the manga did, which is why they went down some different paths (Takeuchi has her own filler villains but the Makaiju Tree arc is anime-specific) and the original anime has the only backstory for Uranus and Neptune, hence why I will invariably crib from it rather than reinvent the wheel.
But on the whole the manga and anime are very, very different. The anime has its grimdark moments but the manga has a lot of fairly bleak elements and one of the harsher explorations of the magical girl genre to a point it'd feel like a deconstruction if it wasn't one of the classical archetypal examples. The manga Senshi straight up kill their enemies, which is an element I neatly fold in and take a bit further by turning Venus into an IJA style totalitarian disciplinarian archetype.
The manga Galaxia-Chaos arc is one of the bleakest things I've seen in fiction and I'm a fan of 40K so I like me some bleak hopeless stories raging against the dying of the light.
So it depends very heavily on which version you watch, the first Anime is much lighter and softer, the Manga would be a good 40K novel in bleakness, and Crystal adapts (mostly) the manga into an anime.
