Isn’t it the best thing when the mail gods take pity on you and deliver the right packages around Christmas time? So excited to have the new Slightly Foxed quarterly under my tree. I am a big fan and I know for sure my Jan reading is sorted. - - I just got back from dinner (pizza anyone?😝)and was greeted with a huge crowd of residents and security personnel outside my building because a snake is trapped in the elevator 😱(omg!) and they are trying to get it out. My cunning plans for the weekend. I'm really struggling with insomnia right now and consequently I have very little brain power to spare during the day. A cosy, quiet day with a log fire and some soothing crochet are on my agenda for today. Today marks one month until our baby girl is due to arrive. One. Little. Month. Well, unless she's early. Or late... Sweet baby Jesus, please don't be late, Hazel. For the love of my hips and back, PLEASE. Actually, why don't you plan on coming right around the second of February, say around noon? All the Mommas out there laughing at me right now, you stop it! A girl can have her delusions, can't she? In all seriousness, this thing is getting so close, I've begun to break out in cold sweats when I really think about what I'm in for. So many of you have told me I'm going to do great; and with the help of my family and husband, a few cheeseburgers, and a whole lot of Jesus, I think that could be true. That said, I started reading a book last night called "The Shit No One Tells You." You guys, it's funny. It's really funny. But it's SCARY. I read it while my husband watched the Ducks game, and at one point he looked over and asked, "Are you OK?" Apparently I had a look on my face like I was reading a horror novel, which I sort of was. Because it's basically a bunch of moms dropping a whole heckuva lot of truth bombs. You know me. I'm all for truth. The messier the better. But I'm thinking maybe I was off on the timing... I think maybe I should read it once I'm standing on the front lines with baby attached to my boob and a padsicle glued to my ass. Because you know, it's not like I can turn her in for store credit if it doesn't work out. You guys, I'm teasing. I'm like at LEAST 86% sure it's going to work out. 😉 . Also, the original cotton piece pictured here is sold, (prints are available in the shop!), but I still have this original rosemary wreath. It actually turned out to be one of my favorites. $20. This photo very neatly sums up most of my weekend. Baking and crochet - quite civilised really. I was trying out the Plum Blondie recipe from the Making Winter book by @silverpebble2 but of course, me being me, I had no plums or ginger. Pear and cinnamon worked really well though. I was hoping to get 10 stripes done on the mahoosive Cosy Stripe blanket but I only managed 6. Still, it's better than nothing and the cake more than made up for a lack of crochet progress. Right, time to gear up for Monday - although I really want to crawl back into bed.
